Learning disabled children are those
children who suffer from serious
learning disabilities. These children
exhibit exceptionally inferior qualities
and capacities in terms of learning and
understanding in comparison to the
normal children of their age or class.

learning problems
They may exhibit symptoms of
hyper activity and impulsivity
They suffer from emotional problems
and express signs of anxiety
They essentially suffer from
severely impaired learning
inefficiency

They may have disorders of memory,
thinking, attention, perception, and
motor functioning

 Emotional imbalances, disorders
of memory and thinking, speech
and learning have been found to
run in families
 Going deep in to the genetic
research, the USA scientists and
psychologist have attained success
in identifying particular genes that
may be held responsible for
reading and other learning problem

 The poor nourishment and defective environment
received by the fetus in the mother’s womb
 Pre mature delivery, uncongenial and improper
environmental setting at the time of birth
 Children who do not receive proper medical care
and attention and as a result suffer from any
impairment in their sense of hearing, sight, taste,
smell and other neurological functioning become
handicapped in terms of learning
 Insufficient early experience and stimulation in
terms of learning and acquisition received on
account of defective educational setup
 Poor or inadequate instructions from their own
family or lack of motivation, skill and ability from
teachers
 Improper development of language skill, lack of
concentration and attention
 Use of drugs and alcohol
 Imitation of defective learning models present in
one’s cultural, social and educational environment

It is a disability in learning
mathematics. It involves
difficulty in memorization
and organization of
numbers and operations.
A child with dyscalculia
may also have trouble
with counting principles or
have difficulty in telling
time
DISPRAXIA
It is the disability in
performing motor skills.
This refers to the problem
with movement and
coordination. They may be
gross motor skills (
running, jumping ) or fine
motor skills ( cutting,
writing ) .It involves
problem with coloring,
cutting, writing, buttoning
and tying shoes.
It is the disability in using
language.
It implies the inability to understand
and produce spoken language. It
involves problem with verbal language
skills, such as the ability to retell a
story and the fluency of speech, as
well as the ability
to understand the meaning of words,
parts of speech, directions etc.

  • 2. Learning disabled children are those children who suffer from serious learning disabilities. These children exhibit exceptionally inferior qualities and capacities in terms of learning and understanding in comparison to the normal children of their age or class.

CHARECTERISTICS OF LEARNING DISABLED They essentially suffer from serious learning problems They may exhibit symptoms of hyper activity and impulsivity They suffer from emotional problems and express signs of anxiety They essentially suffer from severely impaired learning inefficiency All of them essentially exhibit significant educational discrepancy They may have disorders of memory, thinking, attention, perception, and motor functioning
  • 5. CAUSES OF LEARNING DISABILITY GENETIC OR HEREDITY FACTORS ORGANIC OR PHYSIOLOGICAL FACTORS ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

P H Y S I O L O G Y  Brain damage caused by an accident or due to the lack of oxygen before or after birth resulting in neurological difficulties that may effect their ability to learn  Damage of injury caused to the spinal chord and massages carrying nerves etc. leading to the mal functioning and subsequent learning difficulties  Dysfunction of the central nervous system may be caused by bio chemical imbalances

E N V I R O N M E N T  The poor nourishment and defective environment received by the fetus in the mother’s womb  Pre mature delivery, uncongenial and improper environmental setting at the time of birth  Children who do not receive proper medical care and attention and as a result suffer from any impairment in their sense of hearing, sight, taste, smell and other neurological functioning become handicapped in terms of learning  Insufficient early experience and stimulation in terms of learning and acquisition received on account of defective educational setup  Poor or inadequate instructions from their own family or lack of motivation, skill and ability from teachers  Improper development of language skill, lack of concentration and attention  Use of drugs and alcohol  Imitation of defective learning models present in one’s cultural, social and educational environment

  • 15. DISCALCULIA It is a disability in learning mathematics. It involves difficulty in memorization and organization of numbers and operations. A child with dyscalculia may also have trouble with counting principles or have difficulty in telling time
  • 16. DISPRAXIA It is the disability in performing motor skills. This refers to the problem with movement and coordination. They may be gross motor skills ( running, jumping ) or fine motor skills ( cutting, writing ) .It involves problem with coloring, cutting, writing, buttoning and tying shoes.
  • 17. It is the disability in using language. It implies the inability to understand and produce spoken language. It involves problem with verbal language skills, such as the ability to retell a story and the fluency of speech, as well as the ability to understand the meaning of words, parts of speech, directions etc.
