Tridev Puri was asked to take over the foods division of Kumon India and pursue a 35% growth target after the director Yatin Kak resigned. Puri adopted the leadership styles of being transformational, authentic, and striving for innovation in order to build team morale and inspire employees who had relied heavily on Kak. In contrast, another manager Gurdeep Kalra worked alone without delegating or interacting with his team, which negatively impacted morale. The case study highlights the importance of building team spirit, goal setting, flexibility, planning, and not over-relying on individual leaders for long-term organizational success.
