WHAT IS LANGUAGE? The speech that we use to communicate our views and ideas from one person to other is called  language .
STAGES OF LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT The language development of a child begins right from the birth cry. It is further developed by the family at home and later by the teacher at school.  It is essential that the child should learn to express effectively and efficiently.
ROLE OF TEACHER The teacher plays a very important role in this process, as she is the person responsible for laying the foundation of various other languages. To teach a new language the teacher must make use of the mother tongue.   The teacher should adopt methods that go on from known to unknown, easy to hard and general to specific and so on.  This helps the child to learn the basic concepts in an easy way.
HEREDITY & ENVIRONMENT Heredity and environment are the factors that cause individual differences in language. The hereditary factors of an individual come from his genes. The environmental factors encompass the physical surroundings, traditions, code of ethics, contact with other people etc.
FACTORS INFLUENCING LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT The parents, teachers, community and society also play a very important role in the language development of an individual. Age, gender, intelligence, achievement and socio-economic factors lead to individual differences.
