How important music in teaching science?
Children in our classroom not only in our classroom but all children in
the school enjoy each day by singing a song during circle time, learning to
play an instrument or singing a part in a chorus. Furthermore, music is a
part of our teaching particularly in science subject. Example, we have a
topic like parts of the body. So, we cannot directly teach it without a
motivation by singing a song which is related to it. Through this, create
mental images, eager to participate because they enjoyed and eager to
learn as our class goes on. As we experience in our class that even a
simple a performing a hand clapping game with a partner, or as a group, it
result improvement in emotional well-being and enhance sensitivity to the
needs of others. In this way, music especially to us who focused in making
music in science, they have an essential role in a development of social
skills intelligent of a child and emotional awareness of them.
How teacher teaches sciences considering your learners?
In order for the children to develop their intellectual thinking, they
need to gain knowledge of science content and practice scientific habits of
mind. Teaching science should be specific that all parts of their brain must
be functioning. That the preparation of our lesson should be that a science
concept should apply. These science concepts are music, art activities,
literature link, science activities, food experience, creative movement, field
trip, creative thinking and play. These practices contributed to social,
emotional and intelligent skills. That the children are now become more
flexible. As a teacher of young children, it is important that we emphasized
the human side of science and by social activity it tries to make sense of
the class. We should help our children learn that science is all around us,
influenced by judgments, values and interest. As child combines science
experiences with applying those science concept, their vocabulary and
content knowledge can also grow.
