Skin Representation Lab Report
The research group carried out a genome wide association to scan for sequence variants that
influence hair color, eye color and skin color in the europeans. Pigmentation in humans is
attributed to the number type and cellular distribution of melanosomes. When different number of
melanosomes are produced, they cause the differences in the skin pigmentation. The experiment
was done with a sample of people from Iceland and Holland. The results of this experiment
showed how the samples were broadly similar despite the fact that icelanders have more red hair,
freckles and green eyes. They carried out two scans for each eye color, hair color and skin
pigmentation traits. There were two overlapping regions on the MC1R on chromosome16 and one
of them is near a strong candidate for a strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ultimately summarized the primary and secondary pigmentation traits are associated in the six
regions on the genome. The research allowed us to identify several new variants that account for
differences in the pigmentation. Each of these variants are viewed to have a moderate effect on
pigmentation in Europeans. It has been thought that before migrators bought the light skin species
out of africa 60,000 years back, our ancestors were all dark skinned. It is consistent with the
correlation of human skin pigmentation and proximity to the equator. The results of this research
support the conclusion that most of the pigmentation variants discovered in this study show
positive selection in European populations. The advantage of having a lighter skin pigmentation is
that it facilitates the formation of Vitamin D3 though lighter skin people live in colder areas where
there is low exposure to sunlight/ UV rays. The newly discovered determinants provide promising
candidates for for forensic geneticists and for the study of

Lord Of The Flies Dystopia Analysis
Dystopia Essay Lord of the Flies (Character Analysis of a Main Character)
How can a character s traits, their role in the story, and the conflicts they experience impact the
people around them? Can a character s adaption to the preference as to which identification fulfills
their desires progress or diminish the intensity of a novel? In addition, every story certainly needs a
plot, but the characters are who develop interest in the readers to keep exploring what is happening
to them and how they are affecting others. Likewise, readers can make connections to a character,
which can also lead you into liking them or hating them with a passion. Correspondingly, William
Golding s Lord of the Flies focusses on a group of a boys stranded on an uninhabited island and
their attempts to govern themselves. Most important, one of the main characters, Jack, becomes a
savage murderer on the island, for the urge of dominance. Most important, Golding builds the plot
of the story further through the introduction of the character of Jack; his actions and thoughts
/feelings deriving from savagery, his transformation from a proper, orderly schoolboy to a savage,
and lastly, his opposition to the civilizing instinct the boys possessed, serving as an importance to
the novel.
Primarily, Jack s character represents evil and violence. For example, he is eager to make rules and
replace Ralph in the position of a leader of the group; however, he tends to break the

The Age Of New Imperialism
The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to
previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power,
Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late
19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements
to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a
whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading
scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist
ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during
the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the
late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify
British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism.
White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the
achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late
1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since
the 15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by
religion and God. In the early 16th century, a Swiss

Involvement Plan For Family Analysis
Family Involvement Plan
Multiculturalism in today s society has become more prominent and something that needs to be
addressed based on specific as well as on an individual level based on many different aspects.
There are lots of different actions that can be taken, classes, seminars, books, internet webinars and
such. However; I believe that none of this is effective without the interaction and hands on
approach from the parents, famiies, teachers and the school administration itself. We can all sit
back and quarterback a situation, but until it is in our own lap, we don t know how or what we
would do to assure that the children that this effects is provided with the equal educational
opportunities that they deserve. I believe that first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We currently use a Parent Teacher Partnerhip program. We create classroom study teams where
parents and sudents get together to form study groups. This not only familiarizes families with
one another, but also gets them involved in their childs learning in a fun way. We have school
advisory groups where parents can go for advice or help where they feel at a loss or are just
looking for guidance. Multicultural planning sessions have also bee a success. I have to say that
one of the most effective and easiest to put into place and keep up with in our already crazy
school day is the Parents as Resource Persons group. This group provides cultural items such as
pictures, recipes and experiences to the classroom. The teacher then integrates learning from the
derived materials creating reading lists, learning centers and even have gone as far as to create a
cultural fair. A few other things that I found to be interesting and feel would be a great asset are a
School Family Curriculum. This group provides those in need with various items to stimulate
conversation about their cultures. There are also Anti Bias Alert programs which will alert parents
when television programs are appropriate or inappropriate to view based on cultural diversity.
Parent education support groups work in many positive ways, setting appropriate and meaningful
goals, setting up

Gender Stereotypes In Disney Films
Discussion In the current study, we sought to analyze the portrayal of gender stereotypical
behaviors in Disney films. We developed this study based on previous findings from Kirsch and
Murnen (2013), (Junn,1997), and Leaper et al (2002) and because of the potential implications of
Disney s portrayal of genderstereotypes in their films. We developed two hypotheses to test this.
First, we hypothesized that malecharacters would exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors such as
giving orders and being aggressive, more often than feminine stereotypical behaviors and women
would display feminine stereotypical behaviors such as performing domestic duties and primping,
more often than masculine stereotypical behaviors in Disney movies. Second, we hypothesized that
women would have more fluidity in these Disney films, meaning they are more likely to exhibit
masculine stereotypical behaviors as compared to males demonstrating feminine stereotypical
behaviors. According to our results, we failed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We observed a total of 487 instances of male stereotypical behavior, but only 77 instances of female
stereotypical behaviors. This leads into the final and perhaps the largest limitation of our study,
which was the limited sample size which could have potentially increased the amount of female
stereotypical behaviors observed and made it clearer which gender was more likely to exhibit
them. We only watched 5 of the over 150 Disney produced films and thus perhaps our results are
by chance. If we increased our sample size, then we might have increased our chances of finding
gender stereotypical behaviors, as has been discovered in many studies. Our study may have
possessed other limitations as well, but our results could be supported or not supported by future

Job Enrichment and Job Enlargement
Job enrichment and job enlargement
Job Enrichment should be distinguished from enlargement job enlargement attempts to make a job
more varied by removing the dullness associated with performing repetitive operations. In job
enrichment, the attempt is to build in to jobs a higher sense of challenge and achievement. The
accumulation of achievement must lead to a felling of personal growth accompanied by a sense of
responsibility.
The goal of job enrichment is not merely to make the more varied but I the words of M.Scoot
myers research for taxes investment, which has been experimenting with the techniques is to make
every employee a manager . Thus the employee job is enriched will perform the management
function of manning and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Cost: Thought a great many companies appear to be interested in job enrichment programs, the
extra cost may seem high if a company is not convinced that the return will at least offset the
increase expenditure. General Motors tried six man and three man teams in the assembly line but
from that they found the work shoed and cost increased. At Saab Volvo and motors India. It was
found that increase cost is compensated by reduced absenteeism and labour turnover. Yet the cost of
the programme is formidable factor.
3. Attitude of managers: Another problem is the tendency of top managers and personal specialist
to apply their own scale people s personalities. As a result a few companies have abandoned or
modified their programs. M.Scott Myers belives that the failures have occurred because the
manager were not really committed to theory Y and in most cases job enrichment is usually
imposed on people . They are told about it rather than consulted.
4. Attitude of Workers: The attitude of some employers also represent obstacles. Various surveys of
workers attitudes have shown that high percentages of workers attitude have shown that high
percentages of workers are not interesting jobs. Some have complained that enriched jobs provide
too many opportunities to commit mistakes. Some workers fears that the increased productivity

The Republic Of South Korea
Characteristics
The republic of South Korea is located in East Asia, according to the World Bank it is a high
income developed country with a developed market, with a GDP of $1.449 trillion(US) and GDP
per capita (ppp) of 25,977(US), averaging an annual growth rate of 2.9%. Over the past four
decades the country has shown incredible growth and global integration to become a high tech
industrialized economy. South Korea is the world s 4th largest car producers being home to
Hyundai Motors, the largest ship builder and also has many successful corporations such as

protective monetary put into effect by the Bank of Korea (BOK) lessened the impact of the crisis
dramatically between the years of 2008 2009. Today it is the 12th largest economy in the world
and global leader in digital displays and steel production.
Influence of Globalisation
South Korea was first exposed to globalisation in the late 1960 s when the government accepted
recommendations from the WTO (Uruguay Round as formerly known) to open their economy to
free trade, the recommendation required the government to subsides Korean rice farmers and in
return South Korea received aid and mostly importantly an introduction into the world economy.

The Return Of Martin Guerre Summary
The Return of Martin Guerre
In the whole wide world, people have a way or style of living and the values they cherish being
individuals, families, communities or nations. The peasant families in the 16th century in France
are no exception. The peasant families lived and the values they cherished based on the case of
Martin Guerre and Arnaud du Tilh in the story The Return of Martin Guerre written by Natalie
Zemon Davis To begin with, the peasant families lived by being sincere and faithful. Martin
Guerre leaving France for Spain was because of this principle. This is because Martin stole some
small quantity of grain from his father Sanxi. Out of fear that he would be punished, he had to
flee Artigat which became the genesis of the Guerre s problems. Again, the Basques were faithful
and frown upon stealing. They believed that theft is the work of a debased soul, of low and abject
heart which bears witness to a demeaning neediness of a person . So, Martin left Artigat for fear of
being punished making way for the imposter Arnauld du Tilh into the family. ... Show more content

he thought of doing. Moreover, if the family was having a picture or drawing of Martin Guerre,
Arnaud du Tilh wouldn t have had the chance to come into the family and play the role of Martin

What Is Beah Justified In A Long Way Gone
Ishmael Beah fought a war that was very tense against the rebels which made everyone
depressed. Ishmael the author of the book A Long Way Gone was fighting a war against the
devilish rebels who change everything in his life. Beah does justify his actions because he
wants to get back at the rebels for killing his family. They are justified since his family and friends
were killed by the rebels, he basically was forced into becoming a child soldier to fight the rebels
from destroying and killing and he witnessed his own village being destroyed. The rebels killed
his family and friends so he tries to gain revenge since they did destroy other aspects in his life
too. Once Ishmael finally got to the village his family was staying, the rebels attack... Show more

The following citation shows that Beah has to watch the rebels not only destroy the village but
destroy lives, and families which gives another reason for Beah for his actions he commits.
According to the teachers, the rebels had attacked the mining areas in the afternoon. The sudden
outburst of gunfire had caused people to run for their lives in different directions. Fathers had
come running from their workplaces, only to stand in front of their empty houses with no
indication of where their families had gone. Mothers wept as they ran toward schools, rivers,
and water taps to look for their children. Children ran home to look for parents who were
wandering the streets in search of them. And as the gunfire intensified, people gave up looking
for their loved ones and ran out of town (Beah 9). This gives the readers a image of what
happened when the rebels entered his village and attack them. As the families were going in
different ways and people were killed and houses were set on fire this gives another reason for
Beah s actions since he had to watch something that he loved so much and he grew up knowing as

Essay about The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost
The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost Since the beginning of Paradise Lost, a reader can witness
the dramatizing power possessed by Satan, and how he takes advantage of this very power in
order to satisfy his own causes. One such property of Satan s fantastic powers is his ability to
manipulate any individual into a false belief of who he really is, and therefore prevent a habitant
of paradise from discovering his true purpose that is hidden behind his actions. One such example
of this, and one of the most major in the epic, are the events that occur in Book IX involving Satan
and Eve around the forbidden tree. Here, Satan uses, what is to Eve, excellent reasoning to convince
her to eat the forbidden fruit, thereby exploiting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though her beauty momentarily stuns him and he, for the time remained stupidly good,
his dedication to his vengeful cause prevails, and allows him to continue his appropriate plan. It
is this same dedication that throughout Satan s conversation with Eve, he does not allow her to
retreat back to Adam in order to lose such an ideal situation. Initially, Satan s actions with Eve
involve little effort to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect
on her voyage. Simply, he uses his ability to flatter Eve in order to gain her attention and trust, an
essential objective if he was willing to destroy mankind (p. 248 249 lines 540 548): #8230;By
gift, and thy celestial beauty adore, With ravishment beheld #8230; #8230;who shouldst be seen
A Goddess among Gods, adored and served By Angels numberless, thy daily train? Using this
flattery to compliment her beauty, and allowing her to recognize the fact that all of Eden s
animals adore her, he slyly inserts the proposition that will allow her to become greater in power
and being, A Goddess among Gods, rivaling the omnipotent power possessed by God. Satan came
in the form of a snake, the only reptile and animal that could have the ability to pluck the forbidden
fruit from the tree. When questioned how he attained the ability to talk and interact, he simply
answered that he ate the fruit of the tree, and received the knowledge equal to that of a human.

Stability Of Empires Essay
Empires are essentially multiple, large city states that are more stable and can control more
power. The term empire was usually given to those areas who were able to provide major stability
in politics, economics, and social interactions, all under a strong ruler such as Qin Shi Huang. This
stability was a definite factor that led to philosophical and spiritual flowering. To be able to grow
and prosper, empires needed to be maintained by the people, most the military, which gave the
region stability. Therefore, this allowed ordinary, lower classmen, including farmers and merchants,
to work more productively and efficiently. By working more productively and efficiently, the
farmers and craftsmen were put into a surplus, essentially meaning

Disadvantages Of Applied Ethnomethodology
Methodology
Applied ethnomethodology is a neologism that originates from research based on
ethnomethodology, but adds an embodied interaction perspective. It is well known that
ethnomethodology was coined by Harold Garfinkel. According to Garfinkel s notes,
ethnomethodology focuses on how social actors create and understand the basis of their actions
(Garfinkel, 1984). Ethnomethodology has been broadly applied in HCI studies (Dourish and Button,
1998). An ethnographic approach helps in the understanding of cultures and the meaning of
technology in people s everyday lives. We can use the understanding to design computer systems
(Button, Crabtree, Rouncefield, and Tolmie, 2015). Applied ethnomethodology still has the general
attributes of ethnomethodology, but has two major distinctions.
Applied ethnomethodology relies more on inter conversation through interaction ... Show more

First, it allows the research to have an insider s view as a participant and also from an outsider s
view as an observer. It helps the researcher to observe and analyze more phenomena in depth and
from different angles.
Secondly, it allows the collection of ethnographic data by inserting the robot as a second body into
the existing group. In this case, the researcher did not need to be concerned about the establishment
of rapport and could collect ethnographic data that still excluded the possible artificial setups that
could induce specific behaviour by inserting a new participant.
Data is also collected through filming iterative work. Data collection is made through six times
over the course of two months. A group interview was conducted at the very end of the last
session. The reason why the observation was conducted over a long period of time and iteratively
was to exclude any exceptional phenomenon to prevent the hazard that the research would
generalize any abnormal case precipitously. It was also to observe repetition and holistic

The Character Of Eddie Rake In John Grishams Bleachers
Eddie Rake was a man with power. He used his power to train and better the young men of

Eddie Rake is seen as a Hero, savior, all powerful. What people do not realize is that his love is

use his power to influence the entire town of Messina. He may not have known that he did, but

Because who would not love a man that could put their small town on the map with an 89 streak

Alternative Energy In California

Alternative Energy
California s reliance on high polluting fossil fuels requires that the state strongly emphasize the
development of Alternative Energy Sources (AES) such as hydrogen power, electric vehicle,
hydroelectricity, as well as wind and solar power. It proposes that a wholesale move towards AES
will improve life in the state in three distinct ways. First, it will increase Californians consumer
reliance on finite non renewable energy. Second, it will create jobs in the state by generating a
domestic AES production infrastructure. Finally, it will reap enormous environmental benefits
whereby fossil fuel emissions will be cut significantly. While the move away... Show more content

A shift towards wholesale AES usage would entail a significant reduction of the state s greenhouse
gas emissions. Currently, our use of fossil fuels and consequent greenhouse gas emissions are
causing climate change, destroying natural habitats, and causing ill effects in terms of our
population s health, through pollution related illness (Atabani et al., 2012). While AES is
proposed to be the most viable solution to decreasing the ill effects of fossil fuels, some propose
there are ways that California can and should utilize our current fuels in more environmentally safer
ways for before shifting directly towards alternative fuel. With regards to CO2 emissions from coal,
some propose that so called Clean Coal, or Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) represents an
environmentally viable energy production strategy whereby the United States and California can
use their abundant coal reserves, and trap the CO2 emissions, thus burning the product without
damaging the environment (Noorden,

Future Abnormal Psychology Class
To all future Abnormal Psychology students, Professor Lamorte is very straight to the point with
his lecture and you will definitely find this class interesting if you enjoy learning about
abnormal behaviors and abnormal mental disorders. The class runs very smoothly with a power
point presentation about designated chapters, and most of the time the professor does the
talking. I suggest you pay attention to specific examples being said by students and the
professor, just in case you may want to use them as reference on your exam. This will only apply
if you decide to take the take home open ended exam rather than the 50 multiple choice in class
version. This class is extremely entertaining in the sense that you will not get bored. Professor
Lamorte always pairs his lectures with very interesting videos that supplement the academic
lecture, and I must say that he is very good at making sure that these videos will captivate your
imagination with all the new and interesting knowledge being presented. Another thing that I m
sure you all will enjoy about this class is that he has a great sense of humor, and he always tries to
bring laughter to the class. It seems that laughing can be a medicine, and Professor Lamorte seems
to always use comedyand laughter to make the best out of a situation. For example, he may use
standup comedy to portray some behaviors associated with specific disorders and create a more
positive and pleasant approach to such. Also, the kinds of videos he will show in class are very
good so that you get an idea of the kinds of people and cases you will be dealing with. It provides
you with enough material to decide whether or not abnormal psychologyis something you want to
pursuit further. It exposes you to situations that will allow you to have insight on what is like to be
a therapist dealing with different types of clients.
A mistake that I personally made during the semester was to take the multiple choice version of

advantages of taking this course with Professor Lamorte is that he gives you the option to pick

Differences Between Mirror Gazing, Gender, And Self...
Abstract Gender differences in mirror gazing were studied at Montclair State University. The
purpose of the study was to determine whether females were more likely to look in the mirror than
males. Females and males were observed at two locations on campus where reflective surfaces
were available. Students recorded whether or not a femaleor malelooked at his/her reflection at the
reflective surface. The results of the study revealed that there were more females than males who
had looked at their reflection. Females are more likely to have self esteem issues and it is
possible that these findings are because of this distinction. Excessive mirror gazing may also be a
result of issues with body image, such as body dysmorphic disorder.... Show more content on

An individual with high body dissatisfaction might obsessively look into the mirror to focus on
his/her imperfections that need to be improved or changed. Self esteem also plays a role in body
perception. The way we view ourselves affects the way we feel about ourselves. Individuals with
high self esteem often have a positive body perception (Wasylkiw, MacKinnon, MacLellan,
2012). In our society, thin bodies are ideal for women and muscular bodies are considered ideal
for men. These ideal body images may be difficult to obtain and therefore men and women may
begin to feel negatively about themselves. A study was conducted in 2011 that examined body
size perception in students at Pennsylvania State University. Students who did not perceive
themselves as having their ideal body image, reported having lower self esteem and feelings of
shame. Females reported that they needed to be thinner while males reported needing to be
bigger and stronger. Female students were also reported to have higher discrepancies between
their ideal body and their actual body and therefore had lower self esteem. Negative body
perception not only caused lower self esteem, but also ratings of attractiveness (Gillen Lefkowitz,
2011). Issues with self esteem may cause higher rates of mirror gazing because of a greater focus
on flaws in body perception. There also other psychological reasons that can lead an individual to

this color of a light charcoal gray with a hint of silver over the bright fire engine red that was
also available. Others may automatically gender this object towards a female because the object
is a household item that is categorized as something more feminine than masculine. However,

The world in which we live in today has a variety of issues. These issues range from small scale
issues such as crime and homelessness, on the other hand there are also large scale issues such as
environmental protection to reduce climate change. What do these issues share with one another
even though they vary greatly in severity. You may not have guessed it, but these both of these
issues, despite their differences have both been portrayed in film. The issue of climate change took
center stage in the 2006 documentary An Inconvenient Truth. This issue has also held significance
in movies such as the 11th Hour, The Day After Tomorrow, as well as Greedy Lying Bastards. The

This film looks at the life of Oscar Grant in the hours leading up to his death. This film takes on
more of the racial issues of today s society as well as the growing divide between residents and
police. This movie was shot in Oakland, California as well as the BART station where Oscar
Grant was killed. While the film only follows Oscar Grant, the film hits on many of the key
racial issues African Americans face today. The first thing that I noticed was how the film
portrayed the city of Oakland. In the film Oscar spent most of his time in the ghetto of Oakland,
with the only portion of the movie in which he wasn t was when he was in San Francisco. This
was particularly irritating to me being that I am from Oakland as well. While a great deal of
Oakland is run down there are many nice parts of Oakland that the film left out in which Oscar
was apart of. This pushes the stereotype that African Americans are ghetto, or up to no good.
This stereotype was even further pushed when Oscar was blaring Rap music from his car as he
was meeting his friend at Bay View (Scene by the water). While much of the film portrayed
Oscar to be a recovering low life, I did find the director did an amazing job at ensuring that it was
noted Oscar was a loving father. I believe the film does create a bigger divide between residents
and police. I will state I have a personal bias in this case as my Aunt is a mutual friend to the cop
involved in the shooting. Yet, while this movie was great, the film used the highly publicized
Trayvon Martin shooting to promote the film. The Weinstein Co. also set up the I am __

A Crumby Story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears
Oh boy, you ll never guess what kind of story that goddam sonuvabitch Stradlater told me. It has
to be the phoniest story I ve ever heard, and I m actually not lying this time. Anyways, you re not
going to believe me so I don t even know why I m telling ya, but here it is, the same goddam
thing that Stradlater told me. I suppose I should start at the beginning of the story, it only makes
sense. Anyways, he started the story by telling me about some phony girl named Goldilocks or
something and these three very sore bears who lived in a small house in the middle of the forest.
I hate when I hear about others who are poorer than me. It bothers me when others don t have the
same advantages as me. It depresses the hell out of me, it really does. Anyways, you wouldn t
think anybody would be living way the hell out in the goddam forest, but here they were. Honestly
who still believes in this fairy tale crap anymore. Allie, my younger brother you know the one I
told you about. He used to love hearing fairy tales and stories, he really did. Me, not so much
especially the crumby ones. It bothers me when parents tell their kids these stories with phony
characters and phony plots, if you want to know the truth. The characters are always so goddam
crumby, they re worst than the actors in movies. They never act like real people, but I guess that s
why they re called fairy tales.

The Use Of Bioactive Restorative Materials With A...
Extensive research has been taking place in generating bioactive restorative materials with a
potential for remineralization. [1] Bioactivity refers to apatite forming ability [2] while
biomineralization is the ability to get anchored to the underlying dentin by the formation of a
mineral rich interfacial layer and a tag like structure extending from the interfacial layer to the
dentinal tubules. [3] Biodentine TM (BD) (Septodont, Saint Maur des FossО№s, Creteil, France)
and TheraCal LC TM (Bisco Inc, Schamburg, IL, USA) are calcium silicate based bioactive liners
that are proposed as alternatives to glass ionomers (GIs).
The use of bioactive liners beneath resin composite (RC) would clinically be more advantageous
than using GI liners as they are biologically well tolerated by the pulp tissue [4] and have
comparatively higher remineralizing ability. [5] The success of these laminate restorations depend
not only on the bond strength of the liner to the dentin but also on the quality of bond between
liner and overlying RC. Various studies suggest the application of resin modified glass ionomer
cement (RMGIC) instead of GI in the sandwich technique because of improved bond strength to
RC due to its chemical bonding. [6],[7] The bond strength of RMGIC to RC varies depending on
the type of adhesive used and it has been proved that self etch is better than total etch. [8]
Biodentine TM (BD) is recently being used as a dentin replacement material under composite
restorations.

Breakfast The Most Important Meal You Can Have During The Day
Breakfast the most important meal you can have during the day
By Gretel Herrera
Persuasive Speech Outline
General Purpose: To persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience that eating breakfast is really important to have good
health and a healthy body and mind.
Thesis: If we start our day with a good meal called: breakfast , this is going to help you to maintain
a healthy body and a productive mind throughout the rest of your day.
I.The Attention Step
A. Attention: A. I want to share a story today about why eating breakfast as a first meal during the
day is so important to our body and to our health. In occasions we got frustrated because we want
to lose weight but we cannot lose it at all or we cannot lose it as fast as we want. About the fact
that we cannot lose weight, even though we are not eating a lot of food during the day, have you
ever asked yourself why you can not lose weight? The main reason could be that you are not eating
breakfast as your first meal during the day.
Significance: B. I am pretty sure that at least the median of the class skips breakfast at least two
or more days during the week. Sometimes we skip breakfast because we are in rush but
sometimes it is because we do not have healthy habits of eating. For that reason, I am going to talk
to you about the importance of having breakfast, and the positive results from eating breakfast.
Additionally I am going to talk to you about negative effects from not having breakfast.

Fidel and the Soviet Union then saw that their relationship could be very beneficial and this
incident helped lead to their decision to place nuclear missiles in Cuba.
Only a few months after the United States sponsored Cuban invasion at the Bay of Pigs, Fidel
Castro had declared himself to be Marxist Leninist, obligating the Soviet Union to protect his
vulnerable communist nation. After Fidel asked the Soviet Union for weapons, trade alliances,
and even Soviet soldiers, the Soviets suggested a different approach medium range ballistic
missiles. Castro agreed, and in 1962, Cuba was the center of world focus when the United States
discovered the construction sites of Soviet nuclear missiles on Cuban soil. Posing an obvious
threat to American safety, the Cuban Missile Crisis, brought the world the closest it ever came to
nuclear war. As the tensions of the Missile Crisis grew, Castro wrote Soviet leader Nikita
Khrushchev urging him to use the missiles and to sacrifice Cuba if necessary. Being only 90 miles
from the US mainland, President Kennedy urged a need for the missiles to be dismantled. The
Soviet Union finally agreed to remove the missiles on the condition that the United States
dismantles its nuclear weapons deployed in Turkey and that they sign a pledge not to invade Cuba.

Persuasive Letter For Tap Water In Schools
Dear Members of the Downey Unified School District School Board,
We value and admire your provision of drinking water for all of our scholars at DUSD schools.
Thank you for allowing us to choose among installing drinking fountains that consist of school tap
water, placing water dispensers that use bottled water, and supplying individual water bottles. I
recommend that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and
environmental responsibility in differentiation to the other selections.
Firstly, I recommend that you supply drinking fountains with tap water because they possess an
affordable characteristic in comparison to the other options. For instance, a twenty four pack of
water bottles costs an average price of three dollars. Once you buy seventy cases, the cost
approximates to two hundred ten dollars. For a cooler filled with bottled water, each gallon of
water costs roughly one dollar. If the school purchases seventy cases, it would cost nearly seventy
dollars. These amounts of water, individually or combined, lack providing the school with enough
water for even one day. However, the requirement for drinking fountains that use tap water is to
finance money for the water bill. Further, Annie Leonard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I can conclude this because plastic bottles cause environmental difficulties and pollution. In
addition, the water from water coolers would be poured into plastic or paper cups, piling up the
trash bins with waste, and producing just as much pollution as the water bottles. Cups or bottles
hold an unnecessary position with drinking fountains. I can confirm this because Annie Leonard
explained the decomposition situation. She claimed, Eighty percent [of plastic bottles from bottled
water] end up in landfills, ...or...are burned, releasing toxic pollution. If we install drinking
fountains, then the campus pollution levels will

Langston Hughes And Gwendolyn Brooks
Langston Hughes and Gwendolyn Brooks are regarded as highly influential poets in African
American literature, which continues to inspire writers to this day. Langston Hughes is a well
known pioneer of the Harlem Renaissance, a movement in which African Americans in Harlem
during post World War I and the early 1930 s began a cultural and artistic revolution. During this
time, African Americanmusicians, artists, writers, and poets revolutionized their position in and
through many artistic fields of expression. This cultural and artistic revolution redefined how
America viewed the African American population, which garnered respect and criticism from
Americans nationwide. Gwendolyn Brooks, an African American poet also in the 19th century, was
introduced to Langston Hughesat a young age peeking her interest in the Harlem Renaissance that
eventually became a foundation and influence in her writing. Gwendolyn Brooks and Langston
Hughes share similarities in the writing as she was highly inspired by Langston Hughes, but also
share many differences that are responsible for making their pieces of writing unique to other
authors and each other.
Gwendolyn Brooks often expressed the prejudices of being an African American in her writing. In
her 1959 popular poem We Real Cool, published as part of The Bean Eaters (Layng), Gwendolyn
Brooks educates readers on what often befell African American youths that chose to leave school
and engage in illegal activities. The poem describes

The Vs. The Purple Crayon And The Frog King Or Iron Heinrich
Fairy tales, beyond their value as charming escapes into realms of fantasy and wonder, are meant to
teach children morals and demonstrate to them the traits they need to successfully function in
society. These tales are sustained, generation after generation, in our collective consciousness as
literary manifestations of our values. But to what extent is this consciousness collective? Are these
morals consistent globally or do they vary from cultureto culture?According to Bruno Bettelheim,
morals are universal and fairy tales are the ultimate means of teaching them. However, in Harold

The frog demonstrates courage when continuing to pursue the princess despite her disgust. Because
these morals are universal, children can benefit from internalizing them because they do not risk
limiting their ability to transcend cultural barriers. Psychologist Bruno Bettelheim sees fairy tales
as the best means of teaching and guiding children through development and to the set of values
they need to function in society. He states: fairy stories represent in imaginative form what the
process of healthy human development consists of...the tales make such development attractive
for the child to engage in (Bettelheim 12). Of course we want children to embody the
aforementioned core virtues, but what about the other culturally or period specific values that are
be conveyed in fairy tales? Is the concept of healthy human development agreed upon across all
cultures? Bettelheim either ignores the existence of non universal morals or believes that all
morals are universal. In stark contrast to Bettelheim s implication of moral universalism, Harold
and the Purple Crayon and The Frog King or Iron Heinrich demonstrate vastly divergent
conceptions of the values of loyalty, seniority, and respect that are reflective of each tale s culture
of origin. The Frog King or Iron Heinrich is a Grimm Brother s fable with Germanic origins in
which hierarchy and loyalty are emphasized in two relationships. First, the king s authority

Political Corruption By Government Officials For...
Throughout history, several sovereign nations across the world have been subject to political
corruption by government officials for illegitimate personal gain. Corruption used to be a low
profile line item. However, today it has reached heights at which the government must get involved
to try and cover it up to ensure its secrecy and avoid exploitation. This instance is referred to as
Crony Capitalism, which is a theory that has evolved from corruption over a period of time. This
idea involves more intervention by the government who achieves its purpose by providing

They drift away from the rule of law which they themselves have established to maintain social
control over their country. The government chooses to monopolize over businesses in pursuit of
getting a larger share of money. However, most of the time these turn into sunken costs, which they
then try to cover by raising tax rates. Countries that were regarded as miracles are nothing more
than havens now, for crony capitalists to get rich the easy way (Kang, 3). An example of this is
in Canada, where a big incentive in the form of tax credit is given to the Film Producing
Industry. The government has been providing tax payers money and direct subsidies in an effort
to induce film production in their province. Currently, film and television tax credits cover up to
35% of labour costs all over Canada, except for Quebec where it covers up to 45%. This does not
include the additional tax credits that are provided to cover up the total production costs. In
Alberta, the film and television industry demanded $18 million for a project worth $32 million of
building a film studio in Calgary. The government has provided them with $10 million from
property tax which means that the remaining $22 million will be obtained from taxpayers at their
cost. The film industry in Alberta claims that this is beneficial since every buck that taxpayers
contribute towards subsidies will result in a 10 fold return to the economy. This demonstrates how

Jimi Hendrix Slot Review
Net Entertainment s upcoming Jimi Hendrix video slot is scheduled to be the second rock n roll
themed video slot released by the Scandinavian online casino software developers this year. It is, of

cartoony ones at that to showcase its theme.
One of the niftiest features of this new slot is that you can listen to the master himself. At the
bottom of the reels, players will be able to select from a small number of Jimi Hendrix songs to
listen to whilst they spin the reels. This playlist feature also made an appearance in NetEnt s Guns

Effect Of The On A Sport Event
Firstly, he depicts the multiplier used by each of the impact studies. A multiplier is a coefficient,
which displays the multiplier effect on the economy when visitors spend money on a sport event.
The money spent in the host community will launch a ripple effect, thus converting the direct
impact of the spending into indirect and induced impacts on the economy. A higher multiplier
suggests, that more of the initial injection of money into the economy stays within without leaking
out of the local economy. Consequently a higher multiplier leads to a higher economic impact
(Crompton 1995). An example of how the multiplier works is shown in Figure 2. The figure
assumes that visitors spend $10.000 due to the sport franchise, at four different establishments. The
hotel serves as an example for how these establishments further distribute the initial injection of
money. The money that stays within the local economy is spent in the same five ways over and
over as successive rounds of spending occur (Crompton 1995).

Authors of a community guide to tourism development cited by Crompton (1995) suggest that 90%

income multiplier or using the incremental rather than the normal approach to derive the coefficient

The Conflicted Japan of Yukio Mishima s Spring Snow
Yukio Mishima was a revolutionary author. His dramatic public suicide is the perfect capstone to a
life full of turmoil and unrest. Mishima himself was as conflicted as his many stories and plays,
which tend to play out the problem of which direction is Japan heading, and should the nation be
developing that way. Mishima romanticized the samurai and nurtured a lifelong affair with
traditional Japanese theater. At the same time, he admired the West and studied Western art and
literature avidly. The influence is evident, from the decidedly 19th Century British feel of his novel,
Spring Snow, to the many references therein to Western art, literature, film, and philosophy.

with his childhood friend, Satoko, the beautiful daughter of the Ayakura family. The Ayakuras
are very prominent, of higher aristocratic class than even Kiyoaki s family, and the Matsugaes

with another offer from an impressive suitor, Satoko becomes engaged to be married. Kiyoaki

The efficient delivery of drugs and energy to tumors faces several difficulties and obstacles that
need to be overcome for effective cancer treatment. Nanoparticles administrated through intravenous
injections accumulate at a tumor site due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR)

The Effect Of Shear Force On The Diameter Of The Rod Essay
Lab # 1 Christian Axios Submitted: October, 4 2016 By: Christian Axios Partner: Coby Bryant
Reviewed by: Connor Shoening Section: 27 I.Abstract: Over the course of the last few weeks
my lab partner and I have conducted tests on different material of metal rods. During this time,
we collected data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up
with a report including statements about the significance and importance of their designated
yield strength. II.Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of
affect that the shear force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear
stress and since the lab procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were
able to divide our answer by two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean
modulus of rigidity based on the two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the
changing variables such as diameter and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula:
(1) We used this equation along with the force and displacement data to determine the normal
stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. P is the applied load and A is the cross sectional area
of our sample.(2) This next equation was used to find the strain. This result is calculated in order to
find the ratio of the change in length to the original length. ____ is the amount of

What issues did the learning processes outlined in your answers to questions (1) and (2) raise for
you? What barriers or critical incidents did you face/experience? And how did you cope with them?
For the openness and honesty about my initial intent and exception as well as my doubts and
uncertainty or lack of knowledge or inadequate preparation. With respect to barriers, students should
differentiate between internal and external.
Internal:
Negative: It was the first time to analysis a annual report of a company, a annual report have over
one hundred pages. Too much data and hard to collect and classify them, that was one of the reason
of slowing down the working progress.
External:
Negative: I have to take the responsibility of the living expenses including the tuition fee, so that I
work for two part time job like a full time worker, time is hard to manage for me to come to school
and finish the assignment. Moreover, in the question three, there was require the knowledge of
finance, that was studied at first year, much more time spent into the reminding of that knowledge.
Positive: We have a study group formed by few classmates, to encourage each other and motivate to
do the assignment, sharing the experience and some smart classmate may guide us to do that.

The Creation Of Eddie Bauer Store
The staggering amount of effort and work into getting one shirt from Eddie Bauer into your closet,
is much more than most people would expect. The logistics, or the coordination of supply
management, doesn t all happen within an Eddie Bauer store or a company. The product creation
starts in foreign companies like India, China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, and makes its
way to the U.S. upon massive containment ships. After customs, the products make their way

Advantages And Disadvantages Of SQL Databases
Sharing one database for amongst multiple applications has some serious disadvantages:
We can improve db i/o by using following method.
The more applications use the same database, the more likely it is that you hit performance
bottlenecks and that you can t easily scale the load as desired. SQL Databases don t really scale.
You can buy bigger machines but they do not scale well in clusters!
Maintenance and development costs can increase: Development is harder if an application needs to
use database structures which aren t suited for the task at hand but have to be used as they are
already present. It s also likely that adjustments of one application will have side effects on other

Using a uniform extent size for all segments in a tablespace eliminates free space fragmentation
and encourages high performance. However, this requires grouping segments by extent size to
balance the number of extents per segment, leading to wasted space from excessive extent sizes.
Extent sizes of 128 KB for small tables, 1 MB for large feature classes, and 128 MB for large
rasters are reasonable, though you can customize these values based on your own environment and
research.
Separate read only data from writable data
If a tablespace contains entirely read only data, you can put the tablespace explicityly in read
only mode, explicitly. This reduces the volume of data that you need to back up regularly. Read
only data files are also excellent candidates for storage on redundant array of independent disks
(RAID) 5 arrays because they will benefit from striping during read access and will not decrease
array performance with excessive write activity.
Use multiple disks or arrays to store files

The Butterfly Circus And The Butterfly Circus
This essay is about what human dignity and how it relates to the butterfly circus. When it comes
to people and human dignity some people do not realise what it is. The butterfly circus is a circus
where human dignity what the circus is based on. People do what they want to they find the right
place to do it, and they do it at the butterfly circuswhere anyone can be anything, and they can be
themselves (who they truly are). In the butterfly circus, Mr Mendez says that the butterfly circus is
made up of people who haven t had much dignity in their lives (e.g. they get rejected from their
previous work (e.g. Circus) and they were left with nothing. Imagine if this happened to you.

Would you make other people have their dignity restored? Do you have dignity in you?
Lies are one of the major things in which affects this world of wonders, the young and old do it
even you do it yourself. Everyone tells lies every now and then, but if people believe in every lie
that is said to them then they would forward those lies onto other people. When Mr Mendez sees
the (freak) side show and once he arrives at Will s section (which has curtains covering him); the
things that the showman said about Will is horrifying and is a lie. Will believed everything that
the showman said; the showman said God himself has turned his back on him and this next thing
has been cursed since birth . No one should be expressed like that. When someone is expressed
like that it affects the victim and the victor; they both get a bad influence on each other. How often
do you tell lies? How often do you tell the truth?
When you think that human dignity is already in this world but when you think about all of the
bad things which are happening you realise that people aren t being treated the way that they
should be; people lie (about how their thinking), they think that everything is impossible because
of the lies, and the people who are treated the way they should are hoping to make others happier

Public Misunderstanding Of officer Safety Essay
Public Misunderstanding of quot;Officer Safety quot;
How many times have you been pulled over by a police officer, and when the confrontation was
complete you said to yourself, quot;Boy, was he rude! quot; or
quot; There was no need for him to treat me like that. quot; Well, unfortunately, the public is prone
to misinterpret an officer being safe for being rude.
Unfortunately, the actions taken during a quot;routine quot; traffic stop which are interpreted as
being rude are necessary steps that insure the safety of both officer and civilian.
Imagine for a moment that you are a police officer on duty. You observe a vehicletraveling 36 miles

These are the some of the procedures which they have published in regards to traffic stops, and
which myself and other trainers have used to train their mobile patrolmen in hopes of reducing their
risk:
Step #1: Park your patrol car approximately 1.5 car lengths behind, and with the passenger s side
headlight even with the center of the violators vehicle. By doing this you allow yourself, as the
patrolman, an ample distance for reaction. By parking off center you also allow a quot;hallway
quot; for yourself to conduct business safely.
Step #2: Turn your vehicle s high beams, spotlight, code lights and any other light on your vehicle
on and facing towards the stopped vehicle. This will make it hard for the violator to see where you
are and get a good shot in.
It also allows you to see what is occurring inside the vehicle clearly.
Step #3: At no time do you allow the driver to exit his vehicle. It is safer for him and again puts
him at a disadvantage for completing any violent acts against you.
Step #4: While walking up to the vehicle, look at and lightly press down on the trunk. This reduces
the chance of a hidden person coming out of the trunk and firing on the officer. (This does
occasionally happen.)
Step #5: When reaching the

Marlowe As A Tragic Villain
On the Differences between the Ultimate to the Sympathetic Villain
In John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan represents the ultimate villain, a genuine representation of the
dark side. For this reason, Milton s Satan characterized with great decisiveness, lack of remorse
whatsoever, and a bold disobedience against God the all mighty. For this reason Satan remains
throughout the poem in the evil side, without the ability to make even a temporary transfer from
the dark side to the opposite heavenly side; hence, Satan stays confined in the evil realm. On the
other hand, in Christopher Marlowe s play The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor
Faustus , Mephistopheles character represents a different kind of villain, of one that is somewhat
easy to sympathize with and even at times to feel his genuineness. Consequently, Marlowe s
Mephistopheles is capable to represent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this dialogue, it seems that what Engle calls the ludicrous exchange, when he is referring to the
dialogue between Faustus to Mephistopheles, actually it may be implied to the fact that there is
more than just the verbal dialogue between the two, that is, the exchange between Mephistopheles
to Faustus also symbolizes the shift in Mephistopheles character which now speaks in favor of
repenting. For this reason, it seems that there is a role reversal between Mephistopheles the fallen
angel, to Doctor Faustus the human being; because although it seems suitable for Mephistopheles
to speak in favor of hell, instead he chooses to express his deep and sincere remorse for being
deprived out of heaven. Accordingly, in this dialogue, Doctor Faustus answers in vain to
Mephistopheles in order to encourage Mephistopheles not to lament about the loss of the joys of

Huckleberry Finn Movie Vs Book
The differences in Huck Finn It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go humble
myself to a nigger; but I done it and I warn t sorry for it afterwards, neither. This is a quote from
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It is a novel written by Mark Twain and was first published
in 1844. There is a Disney film that is similar to the book called The Adventures of Huck Finn.
Although, there are many differences between the book and the Disney film: character difference,
plot events, and the resolution tie into the essential ideas of intellectual vs. moral education, racism
and slavery, friendship and the river and freedom. The characters are similar, but the differences
are significant to note. For example, the way they talk in the movie differs from the book, and there
are some characters from the book that are not mentioned in the film. Tom Sawyerwould be one of
the characters not mentioned. He is a significant influence because he is Huck s best friend and
helps Huck out at the end of the book. Tom ties into the principal idea of intellectual vs. moral
education because he always does what is in the books he reads rather than doing what is right and

Sectional Garage Door Essay
Sectional Garage Door
Home owners are now considering the garage door as an important element in the overall façade
of the house. Not only should a garage door be functional, it also has to look good.
There are many garage door options available. In choosing the one for your garage, you will need
to consider durability, design, maintenance and cost. A popular choice among home owners is the
sectional garage door.
What is a Sectional Garage Door?
Sectional garage doors consist of large, separate panels, which are positioned parallel to the
ceiling. They open vertically going up, suspended just under the ceiling. This type of garage door
is typically composed of up to eight sections hinged together and held in position by brackets. This
mechanism allows the door to slide up and down.

This is because sectional doors can be easily fitted into any opening. Also, they typically don t take
up too much vertical space when opened. The doors don t swing out when opened. Instead, they
slide and curve upwards above the opening and into the ceiling.
Advantages and Disadvantages of a Sectional Garage Door
Sectional doors are considered the best option for driveways with limited spaces. You don t
have to move your car away from the garage when opening the door, as what happens when you
have an up and over type of garage door. This means you can park your vehicle close while
waiting for the garage door to open. When opened, sectional doors provide access to the entire drive
through height and width, which make them great options for garage owners with large vehicles.
This type of garage door also offers flexibility in terms of materials used. You can choose
materials that provide the functionality you need. For instance, if you want ventilation in the
garage, you can opt for panels with vents. If you prefer additional lighting, panels made of glass
can be a good

The Ethics Of The Body
... the subject is something which is finally identified to the body as such. So the subjective
creation as a sort of paradigm is only experimentation of the limits of the body. The subject is
something like an experience of its proper limits, an experience of finitude, an experience of the
limits of the concrete unity of the body. But finally, what is a limit of the body, a limit of the living
body?
The plenary discussions on corporeality always reconstruct the perception of the body and aim to
see the beyond of the body besides it is an entity as a concrete being with flesh and bones. The
studies and works based on the notion that is what the body which analyze the psychological and
philosophical (and also anthropological and sociological) approaches to the concept of the body
over hand painted portraits to mug shots, personal care methods to collective protection theories,
the sexuality as a study of psychology not through morality are all creating a various worldview and
also attempt an alternative definition on the perception of the body.
Many disciplines intervene when the research topic is on the concept of the body; as the sensations,
the techniques of the bodily movements, the consumption or the expression styles have been
investigated, methods and studies of the epistemology are getting varied as required. As well, the
developing studies on the gender and identity cannot be considered without consulting the studies

Thus Spoke Zaratustra by Frederich Nietzche
The use of language is woven into such a dynamic doctrine in Thus Spoke Zarathustra that it
speaks mountains of Nietzsche s genius. The aspect of two voices speaking as one shows a grasp
for the written word that few have accomplished. With metaphors abound and a deep
understanding of literary masterpieces, Nietzsche portrays the world that we live in with such
grace. The literal translation of the book takes a highly spiritual stance, but in between the lines
there is such depth of knowledge and understanding. While Nietzsche writes many chapters to
express his understanding through Zarathustra, the theme s and messages are all very similar.
Every chapter is like a piece of a grand puzzle that makes an intricate understanding of the world.
Explaining the reality of what we think is reality would be too simple an explanation to fully grasp
many of the concepts in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. That using words to describe such an amazing
world would thus cheapen it to human standards. Of course, I cannot be one to speak such harsh
words, as I am intent on cheapening the glorious concepts with my own meager words.
2
As I would like to discuss the book as a whole, I would like to use a chapter that is a good
summary of Zarathustra s adventure of mind. The Three Metamorphoses has many elements of
Nietzsche s overall message, and is suitable to somewhat accomplish the task of interpreting the
book by using the literal translation and underlying meanings portrayed therein.

Cultural Bound Syndromes ( Cbs )
The subject of cultural bound syndromes (CBS) is one of the most interesting of the study of
medical anthropology and psychology. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or
symptom complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific
cultures (Balhara, 2011). These culturerelated specific conditions may occur due to a particular set
of environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of
occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is
heavily influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively
insignificant and perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes... Show

Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in
their label as culture bound while others have held their ground as fact.
Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West
African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a
prion found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the
Windigo psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological
predispositions among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food
scarcity during winter. Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide
to avoid turning into the flesh eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a
psychological connection is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O Neil, 2010).
The Dhat Syndrome
This culture restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian
subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of
semen loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young
men from their late teens to their forties. The word dhat is derived from dhatu , a Sanskrit word,
meaning elixir constituting the body (Mehta, De, Balachandran, 2009). In clinical psychology, it is

  • 2. Skin Representation Lab Report The research group carried out a genome wide association to scan for sequence variants that influence hair color, eye color and skin color in the europeans. Pigmentation in humans is attributed to the number type and cellular distribution of melanosomes. When different number of melanosomes are produced, they cause the differences in the skin pigmentation. The experiment was done with a sample of people from Iceland and Holland. The results of this experiment showed how the samples were broadly similar despite the fact that icelanders have more red hair, freckles and green eyes. They carried out two scans for each eye color, hair color and skin pigmentation traits. There were two overlapping regions on the MC1R on chromosome16 and one of them is near a strong candidate for a strong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ultimately summarized the primary and secondary pigmentation traits are associated in the six regions on the genome. The research allowed us to identify several new variants that account for differences in the pigmentation. Each of these variants are viewed to have a moderate effect on pigmentation in Europeans. It has been thought that before migrators bought the light skin species out of africa 60,000 years back, our ancestors were all dark skinned. It is consistent with the correlation of human skin pigmentation and proximity to the equator. The results of this research support the conclusion that most of the pigmentation variants discovered in this study show positive selection in European populations. The advantage of having a lighter skin pigmentation is that it facilitates the formation of Vitamin D3 though lighter skin people live in colder areas where there is low exposure to sunlight/ UV rays. The newly discovered determinants provide promising candidates for for forensic geneticists and for the study of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lord Of The Flies Dystopia Analysis Dystopia Essay Lord of the Flies (Character Analysis of a Main Character) How can a character s traits, their role in the story, and the conflicts they experience impact the people around them? Can a character s adaption to the preference as to which identification fulfills their desires progress or diminish the intensity of a novel? In addition, every story certainly needs a plot, but the characters are who develop interest in the readers to keep exploring what is happening to them and how they are affecting others. Likewise, readers can make connections to a character, which can also lead you into liking them or hating them with a passion. Correspondingly, William Golding s Lord of the Flies focusses on a group of a boys stranded on an uninhabited island and their attempts to govern themselves. Most important, one of the main characters, Jack, becomes a savage murderer on the island, for the urge of dominance. Most important, Golding builds the plot of the story further through the introduction of the character of Jack; his actions and thoughts /feelings deriving from savagery, his transformation from a proper, orderly schoolboy to a savage, and lastly, his opposition to the civilizing instinct the boys possessed, serving as an importance to the novel. Primarily, Jack s character represents evil and violence. For example, he is eager to make rules and replace Ralph in the position of a leader of the group; however, he tends to break the Khan 2 rules himself, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Age Of New Imperialism The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power, Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism. White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late 1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since the 15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by religion and God. In the early 16th century, a Swiss ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Involvement Plan For Family Analysis Family Involvement Plan Multiculturalism in today s society has become more prominent and something that needs to be addressed based on specific as well as on an individual level based on many different aspects. There are lots of different actions that can be taken, classes, seminars, books, internet webinars and such. However; I believe that none of this is effective without the interaction and hands on approach from the parents, famiies, teachers and the school administration itself. We can all sit back and quarterback a situation, but until it is in our own lap, we don t know how or what we would do to assure that the children that this effects is provided with the equal educational opportunities that they deserve. I believe that first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We currently use a Parent Teacher Partnerhip program. We create classroom study teams where parents and sudents get together to form study groups. This not only familiarizes families with one another, but also gets them involved in their childs learning in a fun way. We have school advisory groups where parents can go for advice or help where they feel at a loss or are just looking for guidance. Multicultural planning sessions have also bee a success. I have to say that one of the most effective and easiest to put into place and keep up with in our already crazy school day is the Parents as Resource Persons group. This group provides cultural items such as pictures, recipes and experiences to the classroom. The teacher then integrates learning from the derived materials creating reading lists, learning centers and even have gone as far as to create a cultural fair. A few other things that I found to be interesting and feel would be a great asset are a School Family Curriculum. This group provides those in need with various items to stimulate conversation about their cultures. There are also Anti Bias Alert programs which will alert parents when television programs are appropriate or inappropriate to view based on cultural diversity. Parent education support groups work in many positive ways, setting appropriate and meaningful goals, setting up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gender Stereotypes In Disney Films Discussion In the current study, we sought to analyze the portrayal of gender stereotypical behaviors in Disney films. We developed this study based on previous findings from Kirsch and Murnen (2013), (Junn,1997), and Leaper et al (2002) and because of the potential implications of Disney s portrayal of genderstereotypes in their films. We developed two hypotheses to test this. First, we hypothesized that malecharacters would exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors such as giving orders and being aggressive, more often than feminine stereotypical behaviors and women would display feminine stereotypical behaviors such as performing domestic duties and primping, more often than masculine stereotypical behaviors in Disney movies. Second, we hypothesized that women would have more fluidity in these Disney films, meaning they are more likely to exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors as compared to males demonstrating feminine stereotypical behaviors. According to our results, we failed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We observed a total of 487 instances of male stereotypical behavior, but only 77 instances of female stereotypical behaviors. This leads into the final and perhaps the largest limitation of our study, which was the limited sample size which could have potentially increased the amount of female stereotypical behaviors observed and made it clearer which gender was more likely to exhibit them. We only watched 5 of the over 150 Disney produced films and thus perhaps our results are by chance. If we increased our sample size, then we might have increased our chances of finding gender stereotypical behaviors, as has been discovered in many studies. Our study may have possessed other limitations as well, but our results could be supported or not supported by future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cost: Thought a great many companies appear to be interested in job enrichment programs, the extra cost may seem high if a company is not convinced that the return will at least offset the increase expenditure. It was found that increase cost is compensated by reduced absenteeism and labour turnover. Yet the cost of the programme is formidable factor. 3. The Return Of Martin Guerre Summary The Return of Martin Guerre In the whole wide world, people have a way or style of living and the values they cherish being individuals, families, communities or nations. The peasant families in the 16th century in France are no exception. The peasant families lived and the values they cherished based on the case of Martin Guerre and Arnaud du Tilh in the story The Return of Martin Guerre written by Natalie Zemon Davis To begin with, the peasant families lived by being sincere and faithful. Martin Guerre leaving France for Spain was because of this principle. This is because Martin stole some small quantity of grain from his father Sanxi. Out of fear that he would be punished, he had to flee Artigat which became the genesis of the Guerre s problems. Again, the Basques were faithful and frown upon stealing. They believed that theft is the work of a debased soul, of low and abject heart which bears witness to a demeaning neediness of a person . Ishmael the author of the book A Long Way Gone was fighting a war against the devilish rebels who change everything in his life. Beah does justify his actions because he wants to get back at the rebels for killing his family. They are justified since his family and friends were killed by the rebels, he basically was forced into becoming a child soldier to fight the rebels from destroying and killing and he witnessed his own village being destroyed. The rebels killed his family and friends so he tries to gain revenge since they did destroy other aspects in his life too. The following citation shows that Beah has to watch the rebels not only destroy the village but destroy lives, and families which gives another reason for Beah for his actions he commits. According to the teachers, the rebels had attacked the mining areas in the afternoon. The sudden outburst of gunfire had caused people to run for their lives in different directions. Fathers had come running from their workplaces, only to stand in front of their empty houses with no indication of where their families had gone. Mothers wept as they ran toward schools, rivers, and water taps to look for their children. Children ran home to look for parents who were wandering the streets in search of them. • 11. Essay about The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost The Powers of Satan in Paradise Lost Since the beginning of Paradise Lost, a reader can witness the dramatizing power possessed by Satan, and how he takes advantage of this very power in order to satisfy his own causes. One such property of Satan s fantastic powers is his ability to manipulate any individual into a false belief of who he really is, and therefore prevent a habitant of paradise from discovering his true purpose that is hidden behind his actions. One such example of this, and one of the most major in the epic, are the events that occur in Book IX involving Satan and Eve around the forbidden tree. Here, Satan uses, what is to Eve, excellent reasoning to convince her to eat the forbidden fruit, thereby exploiting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though her beauty momentarily stuns him and he, for the time remained stupidly good, his dedication to his vengeful cause prevails, and allows him to continue his appropriate plan. It is this same dedication that throughout Satan s conversation with Eve, he does not allow her to retreat back to Adam in order to lose such an ideal situation. Initially, Satan s actions with Eve involve little effort to convince her that he is not any evil demon that Adam told her to expect on her voyage. Simply, he uses his ability to flatter Eve in order to gain her attention and trust, an essential objective if he was willing to destroy mankind (p. 248 249 lines 540 548): #8230;By gift, and thy celestial beauty adore, With ravishment beheld #8230; #8230;who shouldst be seen A Goddess among Gods, adored and served By Angels numberless, thy daily train? Using this flattery to compliment her beauty, and allowing her to recognize the fact that all of Eden s animals adore her, he slyly inserts the proposition that will allow her to become greater in power and being, A Goddess among Gods, rivaling the omnipotent power possessed by God. Satan came in the form of a snake, the only reptile and animal that could have the ability to pluck the forbidden fruit from the tree. When questioned how he attained the ability to talk and interact, he simply answered that he ate the fruit of the tree, and received the knowledge equal to that of a human. ... Disadvantages Of Applied Ethnomethodology Methodology Applied ethnomethodology is a neologism that originates from research based on ethnomethodology, but adds an embodied interaction perspective. It is well known that ethnomethodology was coined by Harold Garfinkel. According to Garfinkel s notes, ethnomethodology focuses on how social actors create and understand the basis of their actions (Garfinkel, 1984). Ethnomethodology has been broadly applied in HCI studies (Dourish and Button, 1998). An ethnographic approach helps in the understanding of cultures and the meaning of technology in people s everyday lives. We can use the understanding to design computer systems (Button, Crabtree, Rouncefield, and Tolmie, 2015). This will only apply if you decide to take the take home open ended exam rather than the 50 multiple choice in class version. Professor Lamorte always pairs his lectures with very interesting videos that supplement the academic lecture, and I must say that he is very good at making sure that these videos will captivate your imagination with all the new and interesting knowledge being presented. Another thing that I m sure you all will enjoy about this class is that he has a great sense of humor, and he always tries to bring laughter to the class. It seems that laughing can be a medicine, and Professor Lamorte seems to always use comedyand laughter to make the best out of a situation. For example, he may use standup comedy to portray some behaviors associated with specific disorders and create a more positive and pleasant approach to such. Also, the kinds of videos he will show in class are very good so that you get an idea of the kinds of people and cases you will be dealing with. Females and males were observed at two locations on campus where reflective surfaces were available. Students recorded whether or not a femaleor malelooked at his/her reflection at the reflective surface. The results of the study revealed that there were more females than males who had looked at their reflection. Females are more likely to have self esteem issues and it is possible that these findings are because of this distinction. An individual with high body dissatisfaction might obsessively look into the mirror to focus on his/her imperfections that need to be improved or changed. Self esteem also plays a role in body perception. The way we view ourselves affects the way we feel about ourselves. Individuals with high self esteem often have a positive body perception (Wasylkiw, MacKinnon, MacLellan, 2012). In our society, thin bodies are ideal for women and muscular bodies are considered ideal for men. These ideal body images may be difficult to obtain and therefore men and women may begin to feel negatively about themselves. A study was conducted in 2011 that examined body size perception in students at Pennsylvania State University. Students who did not perceive themselves as having their ideal body image, reported having lower self esteem and feelings of shame. Females reported that they needed to be thinner while males reported needing to be bigger and stronger. Female students were also reported to have higher discrepancies between their ideal body and their actual body and therefore had lower self esteem. Negative body perception not only caused lower self esteem, but also ratings of attractiveness (Gillen Lefkowitz, 2011). Issues with self esteem may cause higher rates of mirror gazing because of a greater focus on flaws in body perception. There also other psychological reasons that can lead an individual to ... While the film only follows Oscar Grant, the film hits on many of the key racial issues African Americans face today. The first thing that I noticed was how the film portrayed the city of Oakland. In the film Oscar spent most of his time in the ghetto of Oakland, with the only portion of the movie in which he wasn t was when he was in San Francisco. This was particularly irritating to me being that I am from Oakland as well. [1] Bioactivity refers to apatite forming ability [2] while biomineralization is the ability to get anchored to the underlying dentin by the formation of a mineral rich interfacial layer and a tag like structure extending from the interfacial layer to the dentinal tubules. [3] Biodentine TM (BD) (Septodont, Saint Maur des FossО№s, Creteil, France) and TheraCal LC TM (Bisco Inc, Schamburg, IL, USA) are calcium silicate based bioactive liners that are proposed as alternatives to glass ionomers (GIs). The use of bioactive liners beneath resin composite (RC) would clinically be more advantageous than using GI liners as they are biologically well tolerated by the pulp tissue [4] and have comparatively higher remineralizing ability. [5] The success of these laminate restorations depend not only on the bond strength of the liner to the dentin but also on the quality of bond between liner and overlying RC. Various studies suggest the application of resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) instead of GI in the sandwich technique because of improved bond strength to RC due to its chemical bonding. [6],[7] The bond strength of RMGIC to RC varies depending on the type of adhesive used and it has been proved that self etch is better than total etch. I recommend that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and environmental responsibility in differentiation to the other selections. The Purple Crayon And The Frog King Or Iron Heinrich Fairy tales, beyond their value as charming escapes into realms of fantasy and wonder, are meant to teach children morals and demonstrate to them the traits they need to successfully function in society. These tales are sustained, generation after generation, in our collective consciousness as literary manifestations of our values. But to what extent is this consciousness collective? Are these morals consistent globally or do they vary from cultureto culture?According to Bruno Bettelheim, morals are universal and fairy tales are the ultimate means of teaching them. He states: fairy stories represent in imaginative form what the process of healthy human development consists of...the tales make such development attractive for the child to engage in (Bettelheim 12). Of course we want children to embody the aforementioned core virtues, but what about the other culturally or period specific values that are be conveyed in fairy tales? Is the concept of healthy human development agreed upon across all cultures? Bettelheim either ignores the existence of non universal morals or believes that all morals are universal. In stark contrast to Bettelheim s implication of moral universalism, Harold and the Purple Crayon and The Frog King or Iron Heinrich demonstrate vastly divergent conceptions of the values of loyalty, seniority, and respect that are reflective of each tale s culture of origin. Throughout history, several sovereign nations across the world have been subject to political corruption by government officials for illegitimate personal gain. Corruption used to be a low profile line item. However, today it has reached heights at which the government must get involved to try and cover it up to ensure its secrecy and avoid exploitation. This instance is referred to as Crony Capitalism, which is a theory that has evolved from corruption over a period of time. The government chooses to monopolize over businesses in pursuit of getting a larger share of money. However, most of the time these turn into sunken costs, which they then try to cover by raising tax rates. Countries that were regarded as miracles are nothing more than havens now, for crony capitalists to get rich the easy way (Kang, 3). An example of this is in Canada, where a big incentive in the form of tax credit is given to the Film Producing Industry. The government has been providing tax payers money and direct subsidies in an effort to induce film production in their province. Currently, film and television tax credits cover up to 35% of labour costs all over Canada, except for Quebec where it covers up to 45%. This does not include the additional tax credits that are provided to cover up the total production costs. In Alberta, the film and television industry demanded $18 million for a project worth $32 million of building a film studio in Calgary. The government has provided them with $10 million from property tax which means that the remaining $22 million will be obtained from taxpayers at their cost. The film industry in Alberta claims that this is beneficial since every buck that taxpayers contribute towards subsidies will result in a 10 fold return to the economy. A multiplier is a coefficient, which displays the multiplier effect on the economy when visitors spend money on a sport event. The money spent in the host community will launch a ripple effect, thus converting the direct impact of the spending into indirect and induced impacts on the economy. A higher multiplier suggests, that more of the initial injection of money into the economy stays within without leaking out of the local economy. Consequently a higher multiplier leads to a higher economic impact (Crompton 1995). An example of how the multiplier works is shown in Figure 2. The figure assumes that visitors spend $10.000 due to the sport franchise, at four different establishments. The hotel serves as an example for how these establishments further distribute the initial injection of money. The money that stays within the local economy is spent in the same five ways over and over as successive rounds of spending occur (Crompton 1995). 10 Figure 2: How the multiplier concept operates (Source: (Crompton 1995)) Authors of a community guide to tourism development cited by Crompton (1995) suggest that 90% to 95% of U.S. county income multipliers lie between 1.4 and 1.8. The Ayakuras are very prominent, of higher aristocratic class than even Kiyoaki s family, and the Matsugaes view the closeness of the families as a fortune. Kiyoaki is a moody, pensive boy who gets a thrill out of alternately rejecting and accepting Satoko s demure advances. The Lf lipo GNS composite is capable of carrying large amounts of drugs in its pores which can be released through the absorption of light by the GNS. By applying near infrared (NIR) irradiation, the gasification of PFH occurs due to an increase in local temperature in the graphene nanosponge which as a result damages and ruptures tumor spheroids (Su et al, 2016). During this time, we collected data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up with a report including statements about the significance and importance of their designated yield strength. II.Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of affect that the shear force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear stress and since the lab procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were able to divide our answer by two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean modulus of rigidity based on the two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the changing variables such as diameter and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula: (1) We used this equation along with the force and displacement data to determine the normal stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. • 50. The Ethics Of The Body ... the subject is something which is finally identified to the body as such. So the subjective creation as a sort of paradigm is only experimentation of the limits of the body. The subject is something like an experience of its proper limits, an experience of finitude, an experience of the limits of the concrete unity of the body. But finally, what is a limit of the body, a limit of the living body? The plenary discussions on corporeality always reconstruct the perception of the body and aim to see the beyond of the body besides it is an entity as a concrete being with flesh and bones. The studies and works based on the notion that is what the body which analyze the psychological and philosophical (and also anthropological and sociological) approaches to the concept of the body over hand painted portraits to mug shots, personal care methods to collective protection theories, the sexuality as a study of psychology not through morality are all creating a various worldview and also attempt an alternative definition on the perception of the body. Many disciplines intervene when the research topic is on the concept of the body; as the sensations, the techniques of the bodily movements, the consumption or the expression styles have been investigated, methods and studies of the epistemology are getting varied as required. As well, the developing studies on the gender and identity cannot be considered without consulting the studies on the history of thinking about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Thus Spoke Zaratustra by Frederich Nietzche The use of language is woven into such a dynamic doctrine in Thus Spoke Zarathustra that it speaks mountains of Nietzsche s genius. The aspect of two voices speaking as one shows a grasp for the written word that few have accomplished. With metaphors abound and a deep understanding of literary masterpieces, Nietzsche portrays the world that we live in with such grace. The literal translation of the book takes a highly spiritual stance, but in between the lines there is such depth of knowledge and understanding. While Nietzsche writes many chapters to express his understanding through Zarathustra, the theme s and messages are all very similar. Every chapter is like a piece of a grand puzzle that makes an intricate understanding of the world. Explaining the reality of what we think is reality would be too simple an explanation to fully grasp many of the concepts in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. That using words to describe such an amazing world would thus cheapen it to human standards. Of course, I cannot be one to speak such harsh words, as I am intent on cheapening the glorious concepts with my own meager words. 2 As I would like to discuss the book as a whole, I would like to use a chapter that is a good summary of Zarathustra s adventure of mind. The Three Metamorphoses has many elements of Nietzsche s overall message, and is suitable to somewhat accomplish the task of interpreting the book by using the literal translation and underlying meanings portrayed therein. The Three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Cultural Bound Syndromes ( Cbs ) The subject of cultural bound syndromes (CBS) is one of the most interesting of the study of medical anthropology and psychology. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures (Balhara, 2011). These culturerelated specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively insignificant and perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in their label as culture bound while others have held their ground as fact. Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during winter. Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning into the flesh eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological connection is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O Neil, 2010). The Dhat Syndrome This culture restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of semen loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young men from their late teens to their forties. The word dhat is derived from dhatu , a Sanskrit word, meaning elixir constituting the body (Mehta, De, Balachandran, 2009). In clinical psychology, it is characterized by ...
