This document defines key terms related to Punnett squares and genetics: 1) It defines alleles, chromosomes, codominance, dominant alleles, gametes, genes, genotype, heredity, heterozygous, homozygous, incomplete dominance, genetic locus, monohybrid cross, multiple alleles, phenotype, polygenic traits, and recessive. 2) Alleles are versions of genes that control the same trait. Chromosomes carry genetic material. Codominance results in offspring with an intermediate phenotype. Dominant alleles determine phenotype while recessive alleles are masked. 3) Genotype is an organism's entire gene set, while phenotype is its physical appearance based on genotype and environment.
