wrongfully convicted for the murders of three people in 1966. Two black men in a white car shot and
killed three people in the Lafayette Bar Grill. Carter and his black friend, John Artis, were arrested for
driving a white car and being black. The police assumed that Carter and Artis were guilty. The police
then asked two witnesses Bello and Bradley if Carter and Artis had shot at them. Both witnesses said
