Abstract
This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and
primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self
report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were
administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant,
negative correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant
relationship between secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially
correlates with primary psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable
significance to empathy.
Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary
Psychopathy
Previous studies have looked into the topic of psychopaths (e.g. Michael R. Levenson, Kent A.
Kiehl Cory M. Fitzpatrick 1995; Farah Ali Tomas Chamorro Premuzic 2010; R.A. Richell, D.G.V.
Mitchell, C. Newman, A. Leonard, S. Baron Cohen R.J.R. Blair 2003). This study specifically
focuses on cognitive empathies relationship within the types of psychopathy. Cognitive empathy,
often referred to as Theory of Mind (ToM), is conceptualised as the ability to understand and infer
emotions and

The Labor Market Of China
Introduction The labor market in china has its unique features: cheap labor and huge labor force.
These features have attracted many foreign investments and a consequently, the state owned
enterprises started to suffer from competition. All these changes forced China to reform is labor
relation system. This report aims to analyze the strengths and weakness of labor relation system in
china, especially in terms of the strengths and issues in labor market and training. 1Outperformance
of labor markets in china 1.1Increasing total employment It is well known that China has a rapid
economic growth over the past three decade. In order to cope with fast changing economy, the
China s labor market has experienced a significant transition from central controlled labor market to
more market oriented labor market. This was primarily due to the growing importance of private
enterprises and foreign investments, and the reform of state owned enterprises (Chan Peng, 2011).
The new market oriented market has stimulated the total employment from 170.4 million people
been employed in 1990 to 293.5 million people in 2007(NBS, 2007). The growth of employment
can be attributed to the generally improved employment conditions since the new labor laws
introduced more stringent health and safety standards, as well as minimum wages (Allard Garot,
2010). 1.2Shift in employment Since the China s economic reform period, the labor migration
became prevalent increasingly. The labor migration

The Underground M A Very Thoughtful Person
Deeper Underground
While the underground man (UM) can be perceived as a dark person by some, he can also cause
us to feel pity for him. Mixed emotions and many thoughts is what this character evokes to the
reader. This man without a name can be thought to have no identity, he is an individual alienated
from society. I personally believe that the UM is a very thoughtful person. I oppose to the thought
of this man being in sane as discussed in class. The underground man might not be normal or might
seem to not be following the norm. This is only because this man is preserved and unexperienced.
He does not know how to act due to his alienation from society and therefore, has many difficulties.
However I do not have pity for this man. As human beings we each experience individual struggles
and carry burdens which in affect causes setbacks and most often people are unaware of them.
Individuals usually see what s on the surface and that is all they really know. Of course the UM
is reveled to be an orphan and we know he does not interact with much people, after he retired
from his civil service job. It is indeed his job which makes him feel as if he has power and gives
him the joy of dominating. He enjoys humiliation as he mentions, When petitioners came up to my
desk for information, I snarled at them and felt indescribably happy whenever I managed to make
one of them feel miserable. (85) Humiliating as such is what gives the UM the sense of power and
gratification. He enjoys

Oedipus As A Great Representation Of Aristotle s...
Oedipus is regarded as a great representation of Aristotle s characterization of the tragic hero. He is
able to accomplish this task because of his ability to demonstrate virtue of wisdom regardless of the
flaws and the challenges he endures.
Introduction
Aristotle demonstrated the creation of a plot in literature. The method Aristotle adopted to create a
plot involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated.
The technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to
demonstrate a real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. The
nature of a tragic story lacking the ability to change the order of events enables the readers not to
experience emotional distancing
The way Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies the definition of a tragic hero by Aristotle s is broad.
According to Sophocles Oedipus, the definition of Aristotle hero is viewed as someone of a high
position who is of valuable qualities in terms of character and moral values. The person does not
commit mistakes of his own. Aristotle s defines tragedy as a very important act done as results of
sympathy, and fear (Peter, 2005). Tragedy hero is also described as a person of nobility during
birth that brings about certain flaws that would results to his failure. The situation is referred to as
Harmatia. It is also indicated that true tragic hero also go through peripeteia. It is also revealed

How Did Van Morrison Impact Society
If I were to ask you to recall an artist or band off of the top of your head that was most popular in
the 60 s, I would probably hear the same two bands repeated to me over and over again. These
two bands would be the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and yes they did both have a great
impact on the music industry and society as a whole then and now, but they were not the only
artists who positively impacted the world as we know it today. One of the artists whom had and
/or has said impact, is Van Morrison. Van, in general, is a very brilliant musician and has broken
through so many walls that constrict any artist to just one genre of music. Every single one of his
35 albums has a different sound to it, and this definitely allowed many artists, such as... Show more

Sometimes they can even be an overwhelming influence: Bono said that he had to stop listening
to Morrison s records before making U2 s The Unforgettable Fire because I didn t want his very
original soul voice to overpower my own. (ROLLING STONES). Van Morrison has also had a
large, and very important influence on singer songwriters in not just America, but the world as a
whole. Since Van has written most, if not all, of his music so far in his career, the depths of his
music have almost set a standard for rising artists to reach, or even overcome. Songwriting can be
a tricky process to match up with instruments, and with the capability that Van possesses, this set
the future of any singer songwriter at an all time high, which definitely allows us today to

Billy Bully
In the play The play of Kes by Barry Hines, the main character, Billy, is persistently bullied. He is
belittled, discouraged and threatened. This has hurt him mentally and physically to the point of
depression. The people who primarily bully him are Jud, his half brother, and Mr. Gryce the
principal. Jud, who is Billy s older half brother, taunts and terrorizes him daily. Jud enjoys
sending threats towards Billy such as I ll murder you when I get home. which implies that Billy
will get hurt later on (physical abuse). Also, this will traumatize Billy and make him live for the
rest of the day in fear, anxiety and distress for what might happen to him. The word murder
increases the intensity of what Jud had said and shows that he resorts to physically abusing his
brother.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gryce, the school principal. Mr. Gryce has a special disliking toward Billy and hurts him both
mentally and physically; for daydreaming, he shouts at Billy you ll be tired when I m finished
with you and later on goes to give two strokes each. The phrase when I m finished with you
emphasizes the point that Gryce will abuse Billy later on, overwhelming him with trauma and fear.
In that time and age, corporal punishment was considered ordinary. However, corporal punishment
is only hitting the leg, not belittling and verbally abusing children. For the second quote, some of
the audience might justify Gryce s actions as corporal punishment. The play wright has done this to
show that even teachers can be using the law for their evil actions. The word finished highlights the
fact that Gryce will continue to abuse him and that he isn t going to let him off so easily. Gryce
might be using corporal punishment as a pass to bully and punish students he despises. In contrast
to the other students that were there (three smokers, Mac Dowell), Billy had done nothing wrong or
even worth punishment which means that Gryce is accusing and abusing an innocent

Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book
that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the
whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he
disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that
Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor
argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the
necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are
created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479).
In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the
balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke
nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than
the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein
dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the
development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the
collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their
offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor

The Impact of Technology
Technology, mainly computers and video games, have made a vast difference in our society.
Many years ago there were not very many forms of technology that existed. People often used
type writers, went, dancing, did puzzle, and played board games for entertainment. Nowadays,
the use of computers has become extremely popular. If an individual is not using a computer for
some form on entertainment, they are most likely using it for something along the lines of school
or work. Technology has gone from being a convenient tool to being a bad impact on society. Not
only is it insulting the intelligence of many young adults, but it is also taking away from one s
social behavior. Some people, however, disagree and think technology has made a... Show more

article, Steven Lohr says, On average, students in online learning conditions performed better
than those receiving face to face instruction. Although this may be true for some individuals,
there are a majority of others who will argue that this statement is wrong. He also states, The real
promise of online education, experts say, is providing learning experiences that are more
tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by
doing, which many students find more engaging and useful. This article is leaning more towards
the idea that online education is a better choice than classroom education. This idea could go
both ways. It mostly depends on the preferred learning style of the student. If the student learns
better by reading the required learning material, then he or she would probably agree that online
courses are easier for them. However, if the student is a more visual learner, then he or she may
learn better by being in a classroom and being physically taught. They may also agree that taking
online courses make knowledge valueless. There are also many individuals out there who will
argue that video games have positive effects on children in our society today. In an online article,
James Robers shares that, The online video games that children play require abstract thinking skills

Older Workers Persuasive Speech
Attention Getter: Our economy keep changing as fast as the speed of a roller coaster. Therefore,
many people including employers assume that workers over 45 are less productivities because
younger workers will keep up with rapid economic development better. This assumption can be
against anyone of us in the future because some of us will join the group of older workers someday.
Topic Revelation: I am Uyen Nguyen, today I will convince you to support employment protection
for older workers.
Credibility Statement: In 2013, the U.S. Department of Labor announces that one third of total
U.S. workforce is 50 years or older and predict that in 2050, the group of 65 years or older is

III. Cause As I just mentioned about the retirement plan. I want to talk more about it because the
good purpose of retirement plans unintentionally becomes the cause of age discrimination in our
society.
In the book Old and Obsolete: Age Discrimination and the American Worker published in 1989,

Student Characters InA Palace Thief, By Ethan Canin
Within the text A Palace Thief by Ethan Canin, Hundert, a history teacher in St. Benedict s,
believes that he will mold his students characters. He then meets Sedgewick Bell, a student who
influences his code of morals.
A major ideology that Hundert believes in is that with the assistance of history, he will develop
good character and high ideals in the minds of his students. He believes that with these
characteristics his students would become great men in the future. In the text when Hundert is
asked by Senator Bell what is the benefit of teaching his students history, Hundert replies saying,
When they read the reign of Augustus Caesar... advances lead mankind away from the brutish
rivalries... into the two centuries of Pax Romana, then they understand the importance of character
and high ideals. It is important to note how Hundert is able to say this statement without hesitation
and declares that he is well prepared. This statement contributes to the idea of Hundert s
commitment of using great men of history to mold such qualities into his students. Hundert
believes that he should mold such characteristics into the minds of his students because he was
mindful of the the role the ...students would eventually play in the affairs of our country. , As
stated before, Hundert teaches at an elite private school and he had taught the sons of nineteen
senators, during his time there. As he was teaching the offspring of influential people this, would

Circumcision Persuasive Speech
Title: Circumcision in baby boys
Name: Leya Saju
Plain Language Summary
What is circumcision? What are the benefits? What are the risks?
Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common
surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men.
Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other
families see it as unnecessary.
Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance
of getting infections. Sometimes in men who are not circumcised, it may become difficult to pull
the foreskin back. This may cause that foreskin or the head of the penis to become inflamed. Also,
cancer of the penis is seen less in circumcised men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely, the foreskin does not heal properly or the cut may be made too short or too long. The
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends circumcision because there are a lot more
benefits than risks, but the decision is entirely up to the parents.
How is it done? Does it hurt?
Circumcision is usually done within 10 days after birth at the hospital nursery. It takes about 10
minutes to do. The baby will lie on his back and the foreskin will be removed by attaching a
Mogen or Gomco clamp to the penis. Ointment and gauze are then used to wrap the penis.
An injection with anesthetics or a cream for pain is used first. To distract the infant, sometimes
sugar water is also used. Research also shows that there may be a difference in pain when a
Mogen clamp is used instead of Gomco. These clamps are common tools used to hold the foreskin
away from the tip of the penis so that your doctor can make a neat cut and reduce any harm to the
head of the

Essay about Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace is not a good movie, it is a great movie. Films on History can be lengthy and
tedious, but that sure is not the case in this fascinating movie about the famous abolitionist William
Wilberforce, who was responsible for steering anti slave trade legislation through the British
parliament. Contrary to what its title suggests, Amazing Grace isn t really about the inauguration of
the Christian hymn. Set in the 18th century England, it focuses on William s political career to
abolish the slave trade by arguing against it on the floor of the House of Commons, which placed
him at odds with some of the most powerful men of the time. William is a motivated man with one
purpose; endeavoring to terminate slaveryin the empire.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point, he is debating whether he should go into the ministry and abandon a political
career altogether. His friend William Pitt tries to convince him not to, and tells Wilberforce of
his magnificent plan to become prime minister and that he wants Wilberforce there with him.
Pitt, still trying to convince Wilberforce to stay in Parliament brings a group of people over to
Wilberforce s house for dinner. While eating, one of the men places a set of chains on the table
and begins to explain how slaves are transported in ships. A former slave, Oloudah Equiano,
explains the process and shows Wilberforce the branding mark on his chest he got when he was
sold. They tell Wilberforce that they need someone to help them to oppose the trade.
John Newton, an elderly priest, served as captain of a slave ship who realized what he was doing
was wrong. He then wrote a song to God to free him from the sin of his wrong doing in his
correlation with the slave trade; this song was called Amazing Grace. Newton acts as indefinite
motivation for Wilberforce to continue his anti slave movement.
Parliament becomes impossible to persuade. There are so many excuses set fourth by the
Parliament explaining what effects the lack of trade will cause to the people of the city, as well as
many industries. Even with the research Wilberforce gathers and presents to the Parliament,
including an autobiography written by his friend/former slave Equiano, but still not one thing
happens.

In order for IT System to become active first Computer Programs and Programming must be put in

When Students Should Declare Their Major
When Students Should Declare their Major The post millennial generation has a lot more to
consider when choosing a future career than past generations. Students graduating from high
school come from a place with strict rules and an inflexible syllabus. These students are only now
given the freedom to think for themselves and to discover who they are, what their skills are and
what they are passionate about. It is more beneficial for students to establish a foundation in an
array of disciplines before declaring a major. A foundation is defined as the basis or groundwork of
anything. (Dictionary.com, LLC) Since youth (the average first or second year studentis about 18 to

some women, motherhood is a large part of their image of themselves as females. Men tend not to
be pressured the same way to become fathers. Most men are able to deal with this matter better
because they are brought up to repress their feelings. (www.babycenter.com) If it is known that the
fertility problem is his then a man s image of himself will begin to suffer. Infertile couples end up on
an emotional roller coaster because they begin to live their life in month to month cycles of hope
and disappointment that revolve around ovulation calendars and menstruation.
(www.babycenter.com) They also begin to deal with financial issues because the treatment is
expensive and requires holding off on extra expenses in order to save money.
What are the causes of infertility? All of the cause that will be named were taken from the Major
Causes of Infertility Chart from www.babycenter.com . In the following I will only mention the
condition and the definition but they also provide symptom and solution information. Women:
Condition: Endometriosis This condition, in which endometrial tissue (the uterine lining that sheds
with each monthly period) grows outside the uterus. Condition: Ovulation problems Any condition

The First Experiments Of Water Treatment
A plumber is an adventurer who traces leaky pipes to their source (Arthur Baer). We have all
heard the saying, The plumber protects the health of the nation , but what does that really mean?
Plumbing has been around since 6500 BC, maybe even longer. Ancient water wells were found in
the Jezreel Valley, which historians date to be thousands of years old. This was one of the first
signs of plumbingin the ancient world. The Ancient Greek civilizations evolved plumbing, being
the first ones to use underground clay pipes for water distribution and sanitation. They were also
one of the first ones to create and use flush toilets. The 54Roman Empire used indoor plumbing to
get water to individuals inside buildings and homes. Plumbing is responsible for bringing water to
people, because people cannot survive without water. as we got into the modern age, plumbing
started to evolve. The first experiments of water treatment were happening in the early modern age.
This would enable the supply of clean, potable water to everyone. Plumbers are now responsible for
the maintenance and sanitation of all water supplysystems and treatment plants. Plumbing is one of
the most important job in the world because plumbers are responsible for providing clean healthy
water needed to live, plumbers are responsible for providing water efficiency needed to avoid the
serious world water shortage and plumbers also help provide a safe non polluted environment.

Substitution Reactions ( Sn2 And Sn )
Using various alcohols, the substitution reactions (Sn2 and Sn) were utilized by helping with which
functional groups reacted, in which way. Developing a mechanism for the alcohols are discussed.
This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing compounds.
When a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (Пѓ) bond with another sigma
(Пѓ) bond. In substitution reactions, there are two types that are focused when working with organic
molecules, Sn1 and Sn2.
A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is in the rate
determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one substitution that occurs before the
final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2
reaction has two molecules that are in the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur
before the final product is created (reactions occur simultaneously).
The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are common in Sn1
and Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and the solvents are both Sn1 and
Sn2 reactions.
While working with reaction 1 there are several different chemical properties to be aware of, 3
Phenyl 1 propanol has a melting point of 18В°C. It also has a boiling point of 119В°C. The
density of the alcohol us 1.001 g/mL. In reaction 2, the boiling point of 2 pentanol is 119В°C. The

Cognitive Development
Cognitive Development According to Piaget
Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become
more complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain
orderly stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it
is the study of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft,
2001, p.3). How we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched
by Jean Piaget. He was a cognitivist: he believed that our environment stimulates us to learn on our
own (make our own intelligence).
Piaget was a Swiss psychologist who had a major impact on educational theory in the ... Show more

The final sub stage is from eighteen to twenty four months and is called mental combinations. This
is when they start to pretend. They now have symbolic play where they imitate mom, dad, brother
or sister, babysitter, etc. They can now remember the past and certain isolated events.
Piaget s second stage of cognitive development is the Preoperational Stage and is from age two
to six or seven years (Woolfolk, 2001). This is the stage where children really start to use
symbolic representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of
times with more learning occurring in each. The first sub stage is from two to three or four years
and is called the preconceptual phase. At this stage children start to judge from their own
experiences. However, the world still revolves around them; if they want it, it will happen (or so
they think). They also think that others have access to their thoughts. Therefore, when children of
this age start to talk about random ideas or people they know, they don t give specifics because
they think others know exactly what or who they are talking about. In this stage, children are very
egocentric. More than forty percent of the time, they talk about themselves. Their
imagination in this stage is very active. They talk to inanimate objects (their toys, a rock, a stick,
etc.). This is when they start to mix play with reality. They are afraid of monsters and fictional bad

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature
In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature and my own personal experiences, we both discover the sublime
in moments of silence and engagement with nature. These events in which we cannot fully describe
in words but just appreciate the beauty are the sublime, and nature, which Emerson and I encounter,
operates as an extension of God. In the beginning of Nature, Emerson demands that people find
their own relationship with the universe, and I never really had a personal encounter with God even
though I went to Catholic school my whole life. As Emerson progresses to his thesis and depicts his
enjoyment of nature through silence, I remembered my experience with the relic of the True Cross

He enjoys the surrounding landscape and exchange with God: My head bathed by the blithe air
and uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanishes. I have become a transparent eye ball.
I am nothing. I see all (Emerson 511). Emerson does not talk or allow himself to lose focus of
the beauty surrounding him. Instead, he turns into a transparent eye ball and experiences the
sublime by permitting nature to trigger an emotional response in him. In a similar experience in
middle school, my teacher told the class that the relic of the True Cross was coming to our
school. When the class headed over to the chapel, I developed a plan of saying my memorized
prayers. As soon as I kneeled in front of the relic, I found myself at a loss for words and felt an
intimate connection with God. Throughout my whole experience with the Cross, I remained
silent and did not feel distracted by the many people in the room with me. I realize now that this
sublime connection with God developed a truth within me that silence and listening to nature s
responses to me were the best way to pray for me and to clear my mind of stress. Both Emerson
and my points about silence do not mean that everyone should pray and reflect without words but
rather to discover one s personal truth by clearing his or her mind of distractions. This experience

by CBS, produced by Edward R. Murrow and Fred W. Friendly, and hosted by Murrow. The show
ran from 1951 1958 and is regarded as a turning point in news broadcasting. The program had a
reputation of being an honest and thoughtful presentation of current events. The episode titled A
Report on Senator Joseph R. McCarthy aired on March 9th, 1954. Murrow discussed the
communist hunt launched by McCarthy and extensively used excerpts McCarthy s speeches. The

which Murrow s broadcast affected McCarthy s political career.
Throughout this investigation, many types of sources were used. Primary source recordings to
books written by historians alike point to the same conclusion: Murrow s famous broadcast planted
seeds of dissent in public opinion and marked the beginning of the end for McCarthy s political
career. Every source used for this investigation supports this conclusion, which indicates that further
research should be done. This investigation is lacking in sources demonstrating that Murrow was
unimportant in McCarthy s political career. In this way, this investigation is biased in support of
Murrow. Even if this investigation had more sources supporting the opposite perspective, a slight
bias would still be present. One of the greatest challenges of history is maintaining

Albert Beveridge Analysis
The Spanish American war of 1898, although short in duration, effected policy in the United
States for years to come. As part of the Treaty of Paris, the United States acquired Puerto Rico
and the Pacific island of Guam while Spain granted independence to Cuba (Divine 694). The
United States demanded the Philippines as a condition of peace and quickly attempted to annex
the islands (Pearson 19). This led to the Philippine American War which lasted three years and
claimed many lives on both sides. Albert Beveridge, a newly elected U.S. Senator from Indiana

Analysis Of Like Water For Chocolate By Lauren Esquivel
Like Water for Chocolate is a novel written by Mexican novelist Lauren Esquivel, and published
in 1989. The story is set during the Mexican revolution and portrays the life of Tita De La Garza
and her mother, Mama Elena. In this novel, Esquivel explores ideas such as the power of love and

Tita displays her persistence by never giving up on her love for Pedro. Conversely, Mama Elena s
persistence is seen through her actions of taking away Tita s freedom, and constantly restraining
her from approaching Pedro. Even after she passes away, the ghost of Mama Elena (pg. 157)
returns to the ranch to prevent Tita from obtaining her freedom and reuniting with Pedro. The
ghost shames Tita for breaking the family tradition and commands her to leave the ranch. Since
Tita accepts the guilt that is instilled into her, she is unable to rid her mind of the phantom.
However, when Mama Elena questions Tita: who do you think you are? (pg. 180), she
experiences a brief moment of self realisation, and decides that she no longer wanted to be
controlled by her mother. Tita responds back to the ghost: ...[I am] a person who has a perfect
right to live her life as she pleases...I hate you, I ve always hated you! (pg. 180). With this, she
breaks away from the mental grasp of the Mama Elena s ghost forever. Through this experience,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Transfersomes
The name is derived from the Latin word transferre which means to carry across and the Greek
word soma means body means carrying body . Transfersomes, a novel class of modified liposomes,
was first reported by Cevc [Cevc et al; 1992] and are described as deformable, elastic or ultra
flexible liposomes or vesicles [Benson; 2006]. They are claimed to improve in vitro transdermal
delivery of a variety of drugs. The deformability possessed by transfersomes is the outcome of
incorporation of an edge activator within the phospholipid bilayers and this improves elasticity by
means of lipid bilayerdestabilization [Dubey et al; 2007]. Commonly used edge activators are single
chain surfactants such as sodium cholate and Tween 80. It is well known that barrier of stratum
corneum prevent hydrophilic and large molecular drugs through skin but transfersomes are able to
squeeze through conduits one tenth the diameter of the vesicles, allowing them to spontaneous
penetrate the stratum corneum [Cevc et al; 1996] Moreover, Cevc et... Show more content on

One of these reasons is that Britain and France would have allied with the South if it weren t for
the Battle of Antietam. Britain and France were suffering shortages of the cotton from the South,
and they were close to joining the South to help them split. The South had had many victories
recently, and it looked like they could have won, but after the Battle of Antietam, the European
nations stayed neutral. Another reason that this battle changed the war is that it helped Lincoln
win the midterm election. Before the Battle of Antietam, Democrats had been campaigning on
the failing war effort, and it was looking like they would control the Senate. If the Democrats had
taken control of the Senate, they would likely have voted to end the war and let the South split
from the north. However, after the Battle of Antietam, the Republicans gained more support and
gained even more seats in the Senate. The Battle of Antietam also helped Lincoln to see the
weakness in his general and replace McClellan. Lincoln had ordered McClellan to destroy the
Army of North Virginia if possible, but McClellan, with twice the manpower and the enemy
pinned against the Potomac, had many opportunities to do so but held back (Klein). McClellan
didn t destroy the Army of North Virginia despite having the perfect opportunity to do so, and
doing this could have ended the war much earlier. Despite having the Confederate battle plans and
twice the manpower, McClellan was still unable to win the battle, and it ended in a draw. This
showed Lincoln that McClellan was incapable of leading the army, and he replaced McClellan with

Pest Analysis Of China s Live And Recorded Music
PEST Analysis of China s Live and Recorded Music
The following is a PEST analysis showing the viability of recorded and live music sales in China.
An analysis of the PEST factors divulges that it will be difficult for China to become a leading
market in recorded and live music by 2028.
Political factors
China is politically stable relative to other emerging economies as regards to public service
delivery and economic expansion. But the country s public and private sectors experience rampant
corruption and poor governance. There is a lack of democracy and people do not freely exercise
their bill of rights like freedom of speech. this is extended to musicians who cannot freely sing
about their mind but must adhere to the culture and country s constitution.
The system of communism ensures that the government is in charge of all aspects of business,
eliminating the chances of liberal trade for investors (McGregor, 2011). The one party system
creates an investment risk for businesses because it lacks transparency in standard business practice
performed in other countries where liberal trade thrives. Hence, the music industry cannot operate
freely because of heavy censorship reducing sale of music and, hence, limiting the overall growth of
the industry.
The Chinese government is not doing much to protect musicians and artists against copyright
infringement. This is the case even after China signed the copyright agreement with other countries
to restrict copyright violation

Elements Of Characters In Prisoners, Sicario And Arrival
Dramas are films with realistic plots, settings, characters, and situations. Dramas tend to be driven
and somewhat dependent on powerful actor portrayals and good direction, rather than CGI effects
or action. Dramas tend to include characters that are complex and well developed throughout their
films. But perhaps one of the most key elements in dramas are the themes of intense and real
struggle centered around the human condition. These themes can be expressed overtly through the
plot and story or symbolically through several different film elements. Denis Villeneuve is a
director whose all but mastered the art of creating dramatic films, consistently making films that
become exemplary models for what dramafilms should evoke in an audience. His three films
Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival do not fall outside of this classification. Each of these are unique in
their own respect, yet Denis Villeneuve uses several different thematic elements, particularly color,

Dbq Essay On Human Rights Violation
Throughout much of human history, certain issues have stayed unresolved for the longest time.
Some are political, some are societal, and still, some are religious, but only modern day sees the
conclusions to these affairs. Particularly, a human rights violation occurs when a government or
other authority goes against any basic right that all humans are born with. Some of these rights
include the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Furthermore, only in the modern day
is a violation such as injustice realized and dealt with appropriately. In one instance in Qin China,
certain books are censored from the public. These books are forcefully taken and burned
immediately. The picture in Document 1 depicts the burning of many books... Show more content

Through apartheid, the Nationalist Party of South Africa had forced millions of people to leave
their homes because they were colored. In the text, it says, The National Party passed and
enforced laws that kept white and black South Africans separated and benefited whites while
stripping non whites of their rights (Doc 5). This quote explains that the National Party had
consciously made a decision to be discriminative against blacks and appraise whites. Another
basic right of all humans is that everyone is equal and everyone, no matter their race, should be
treated the same. The National Party is clearly not honoring this right even in the 20th century.
Another example is found when in the text, it says, From 1960 to 1983, the apartheid
government forcibly moved 3.5 million black South Africans in one of the largest mass removals
of people in modern history (Doc 5). This illustrates the apartheid system in action. Millions of
people are being pushed out of their rightful homes because and only because of the color of their
skin. Without a doubt, the National Party is not for this fundamental right of equality. On the
bright side however, even more recently, the apartheid system has been done away with. It can
now be said that just about every modern society is free of racism and discrimination, at least
legally (Outside Information). Strifes as such are now only but a memory due to modern

Comparison Of Mission, Vision And Values
Mission, Vision and Value Comparison Between the City of Calgary and the Calgary Police
Organizations use different ways to relay their messages to the populations they serve. One of the
most effective and simplified way to relay their message is through vision, mission and value
statements. Although two organizations can serve the same demographic, the key messages given
can be similar or very different. By examining the City of Calgaryand the Calgary PoliceService s
vision, mission and values statements, we can better understand what key message each
organization is trying to deliver to their audience, how those two organizations are connected or

One of the principal connections noted however, is that both draw attention to the diverse
populations that resides in Calgary. The City of Calgary talks about a
28% visible minority, and the Calgary Police Service ensures in it s vision statement that recruits
represent that diversity and that officers treat members of the public without discrimination. A
disconnect that was noticed between the two organizations is that the City of Calgary listed
statistics and future projections in its vision statement, whereas the Calgary Police Service did
not. It would appear that the City of Calgary vision statement is regularly updated to reflect this.
The mission statements are geared towards each individual organization. The City of Calgary
talks about dependability and trust when providing a public service, whereas the Calgary Police
Service talks about it s role as a policing service. There is a connection however;

Theme Of The Metamorrphosis And It s A Wonderful Life
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and the movie It s a Wonderful Life, directed by Francis
Copra, don t seem to have a lot in common at first glance. One is an old novella taught in literature
classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common
themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The
Metamorphosisand It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go
through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will
examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar
experiences. George s transformation in It s a Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s
character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never wanted to get stuck with in the first
place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any difference. He is about to get
blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is when George s
transformation begins. His unhappiness is compounded when his business is failing and he is
blamed. He is threatened with prison and ruin. He is unable to keep it together for Christmas
Eve. He sees his life as a life of sacrifice for his friends, family, and the good of the town, and he
sees it as all for nothing. All his efforts are leading to his ruin. When he goes home after the
money is missing, and after realizing all the implications that are attached to that, the stress is
compounded by his family. His daughter is sick, the piano is playing the same thing over and
over. He is bombarded with questions and the problems pile up until he loses his temper. He
feels that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders and it is all crashing down. Nothing he
does is good enough, and nothing he has done would stop him from going to prison if he couldn
t come up with money. That is when he remembers his life insurance. If he died the bank would
be taken care of and his family would be taken care of. If he died he wouldn t be stuck in the same
old town, with all the responsibility. He stands on the bridge ready to jump and wishes he had
never been born, He gets his wish and is shown what life would be like

Life Changing Decisions In The Bluest Eyes By Toni Morrison
As the novels progress, both protagonists face life changing decisions, based on their past
experiences they had with the choices their own mothers had to make, they now must choose
between sacrificing the ones they love, or the life which they have always dreamed. To begin, in
The Bluest Eyes, Pauline s daughter Pecola is reaching for the blackberry pie juice that is piping
hot. Pecola wants to help her mother by moving the boiling juice to an area that will let it cool
faster. She hopes that by doing this task, she will gain her mother s acceptance. While doing this,
the bowl slips out of Pecola s hands and juice is spilled everywhere on the floor, including on her
legs. When this happens Pauline shockingly says: crazy fool...my floor, mess... look what you
..look what you... work...get on out...now what ...crazy...my floor, my floor... my floor (Morrison,
The Bluest Eyes, 109).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of showing her motherly concern to Pecola, she cares more about what is not hers, she
is too concerned about the floor that does not belong to her rather than the well being of her own
flesh and blood. This also makes Pecola feel like her mother could care less about her, and that
she is non existent. In Beloved, Sethe makes a decision which greatly impacts not only her life
in a negative way but her children s lives as well. Sethe lives a hard life of slavery and does not
want her kids to go through it. While running away for freedom, Sethe was chased by her master. In
this desperate situation, she does what she thinks is right, which is slitting the throat of her own
child whom she later named

Importance And Significance Of Forgiveness
The purpose of this research paper is the importance and significance of forgiveness in resolving
conflict. In order to resolve a conflict completely, forgiveness is at some point is a must. It may
not come immediately, and an I m sorry may not be enough for one person to be able to forgive
the other, but one has to be open to having the ability to both give and receive it in order for
reconciliation to be completely successful. One may ask how forgiving someone they are in conflict
with is important to achieving a positive outcome, such as reconciliation, as without forgivenessone
cannot be able to put the issue behind them and move forward in life. This paper is going to try
and explore that question and show that yes, having the ability to forgive, is very significant in
finding a resolution to the conflict. It will research, viewpoints on forgiveness and its much
needed contribution in order to resolve a conflict. It will look into how the field of psychology
views the importance of forgiveness and that of a biblical worldview and even the effects it can
have on your daily health when conflicts are allowed to keep going and one is overcome with
negativity and stress from the situation. Not everyone looks at forgiveness the same, or are able to
come to a point where they are willing to try to forgive another person but most all want some kind
of resolution or reconciliation when conflicts arise, and some need guidance in order to get to that
point. For some

Mr. Buffett s decision to expand into insurance operations. Today, the company s insurance
operation is a major source of capital for Berkshire Hathaway s other investments.
When Buffett made a decision in expanding into insurance, the insurance industry was a booming
business. He always made sure Berkshire s insurance companies maintained capital strength at
exceptionally high levels. This strength differentiated Berkshire s insurance companies from their
competitors. Again this proves his market acumen and visionary ability which helped to see future
trend and understand business well ahead of other rivals.
After Warren Buffettconverted Berkshire Hathaway from a textile to an insurance company, he
started doing strategic acquisition. Initially he looked for reinsurance companies in the United
States that had sound management, but were in need of capital to expand. In today s economic
uncertainties, Buffett s saying will remain a guiding principal for all investors:
Be fearful when others are greedy; be greedy when others are scared for their capital . Mr. Buffett
started expanding Berkshire Hathaway s business into life, accident and health reinsurers. He did
strategic investments and acquisition in internationally based property and casualty reinsurers. In

Treatment one consisted of Wild Type and Tan S. fimicola isolates that were both treated with X
ray radiation. The second treatment was Wild Type treated with X ray radiation and Tan without
radiation. Finally, the third treatment consisted of Tan isolates treated with X ray radiation and
Wild Type isolates without. A control plate was also tested to use as a comparison (Burpee et al.,
2015). For control plates and all three of the treatments, petri dishes were prepared to cross the
isolates, producing perithecia. First, two 0.5 cm squares of fungal hyphae containing agar were cut
from a cultured petri dish. Wild Type and Tan isolates were used for the control; X ray samples
corresponding to the correct treatment were used for the experimental plates. The agar squares
were then placed with the hyphae side facing the agar on the quadrant labeled for the corresponding
isolate. These steps were then repeated for the remaining strains/ culture plates (Burpee et al.,
2015). The samples were then left to incubate for two weeks until the next step in the experiment the

Gesture Is An Important Part Of Language
Gesture is an important part of language the world over. Apart from sign languages, gestures, or
talking with one s hands, largely go unnoticed by a majority of speakers. That being said, there are
some gestures that are so integral to a language that ignoring them is impossible. Such gestures can
widely vary across languages and the world, and making a mistake with them can be disastrous. To
alleviate some of this confusion, incorporating gestures into dictionaries of a specific languageor
country may be helpful, as well as indexing and recording such gestures. This process, though, may
prove to be a complicated endeavor. Gestures, due to their ubiquitous use and arbitrary meanings,
should be indexed conclusively into dictionaries of their corresponding languages and possibly
even resources of their own. Gestureis an incredibly effective way to convey an idea and are an
essential part of many languages. In most languages, gesture serves as a way to emphasize
speech or to say a short phrase without speaking. They have been conventionalized in society,
and while they do not have all the same linguistic properties as words do, their meaning within
their culture is undeniable. As Rousseau says, one speaks more effectively to the eye than to the
ear. (8) It can be hard to mistake something as simple as a head nod or a wave in greeting.
Gestures such as the ones above and others such as thumbs up, now ingrained in social media sites
such as Facebook, are everywhere in

a trait that Zlatan inherited to his kids. To escape from the chaos at home Zlatan would go around
RosengГҐrd pulling off different stunts. Zlatan could often be found around RosengГҐrd stealing

Examples Of Anger In Seneca
ANGER/SENECA
Anger is a strong emotion that everyone has inside them. It s also a vice because it s one of our bad
sides. Anger mostly makes people lose control of themselves and drives them to act violently. As
Seneca agrees and mentions, we can consider anger as a short madness because even if it s for one
second of rage we feel, we go mad. We can t think properly and due to that we can t act properly.
Seneca says Anger is the desire of revenge, not the power and faculty of it. and Those who think
of injuring us are already considered as they injured us because they did it in conceit. I disagree
with this idea because I believe actions are more important than intentions. For example, someone
who thinks of killing people is innocent

  • 2. The Relationship Between Cognitive Empathy And Primary And... PSYC 121: Introduction Psychology 1 Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy A.Craig 300353012 Amanda Richardson Monday, 5:10 7:00pm, EA404A Abstract This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant relationship between secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially correlates with primary psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable significance to empathy. Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy Previous studies have looked into the topic of psychopaths (e.g. Michael R. Levenson, Kent A. Kiehl Cory M. Fitzpatrick 1995; Farah Ali Tomas Chamorro Premuzic 2010; R.A. Richell, D.G.V. Mitchell, C. Newman, A. Leonard, S. Baron Cohen R.J.R. Blair 2003). This study specifically focuses on cognitive empathies relationship within the types of psychopathy. Cognitive empathy, often referred to as Theory of Mind (ToM), is conceptualised as the ability to understand and infer emotions and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These features have attracted many foreign investments and a consequently, the state owned enterprises started to suffer from competition. All these changes forced China to reform is labor relation system. This report aims to analyze the strengths and weakness of labor relation system in china, especially in terms of the strengths and issues in labor market and training. 1Outperformance of labor markets in china 1.1Increasing total employment It is well known that China has a rapid economic growth over the past three decade. In order to cope with fast changing economy, the China s labor market has experienced a significant transition from central controlled labor market to more market oriented labor market. This was primarily due to the growing importance of private enterprises and foreign investments, and the reform of state owned enterprises (Chan Peng, 2011). The new market oriented market has stimulated the total employment from 170.4 million people been employed in 1990 to 293.5 million people in 2007(NBS, 2007). The growth of employment can be attributed to the generally improved employment conditions since the new labor laws introduced more stringent health and safety standards, as well as minimum wages (Allard Garot, 2010). 1.2Shift in employment Since the China s economic reform period, the labor migration became prevalent increasingly. • 4. The Underground M A Very Thoughtful Person Deeper Underground While the underground man (UM) can be perceived as a dark person by some, he can also cause us to feel pity for him. Mixed emotions and many thoughts is what this character evokes to the reader. This man without a name can be thought to have no identity, he is an individual alienated from society. I personally believe that the UM is a very thoughtful person. I oppose to the thought of this man being in sane as discussed in class. The underground man might not be normal or might seem to not be following the norm. This is only because this man is preserved and unexperienced. He does not know how to act due to his alienation from society and therefore, has many difficulties. However I do not have pity for this man. As human beings we each experience individual struggles and carry burdens which in affect causes setbacks and most often people are unaware of them. Individuals usually see what s on the surface and that is all they really know. Of course the UM is reveled to be an orphan and we know he does not interact with much people, after he retired from his civil service job. It is indeed his job which makes him feel as if he has power and gives him the joy of dominating. He enjoys humiliation as he mentions, When petitioners came up to my desk for information, I snarled at them and felt indescribably happy whenever I managed to make one of them feel miserable. • 6. Oedipus As A Great Representation Of Aristotle s... Oedipus is regarded as a great representation of Aristotle s characterization of the tragic hero. He is able to accomplish this task because of his ability to demonstrate virtue of wisdom regardless of the flaws and the challenges he endures. Introduction Aristotle demonstrated the creation of a plot in literature. The method Aristotle adopted to create a plot involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated. The technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to demonstrate a real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. The nature of a tragic story lacking the ability to change the order of events enables the readers not to experience emotional distancing The way Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies the definition of a tragic hero by Aristotle s is broad. According to Sophocles Oedipus, the definition of Aristotle hero is viewed as someone of a high position who is of valuable qualities in terms of character and moral values. The person does not commit mistakes of his own. Aristotle s defines tragedy as a very important act done as results of sympathy, and fear (Peter, 2005). Tragedy hero is also described as a person of nobility during birth that brings about certain flaws that would results to his failure. The situation is referred to as Harmatia. • 7. How Did Van Morrison Impact Society If I were to ask you to recall an artist or band off of the top of your head that was most popular in the 60 s, I would probably hear the same two bands repeated to me over and over again. These two bands would be the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and yes they did both have a great impact on the music industry and society as a whole then and now, but they were not the only artists who positively impacted the world as we know it today. One of the artists whom had and /or has said impact, is Van Morrison. Van, in general, is a very brilliant musician and has broken through so many walls that constrict any artist to just one genre of music. Since Van has written most, if not all, of his music so far in his career, the depths of his music have almost set a standard for rising artists to reach, or even overcome. • 8. Billy Bully In the play The play of Kes by Barry Hines, the main character, Billy, is persistently bullied. He is belittled, discouraged and threatened. This has hurt him mentally and physically to the point of depression. The people who primarily bully him are Jud, his half brother, and Mr. Gryce the principal. Jud, who is Billy s older half brother, taunts and terrorizes him daily. Jud enjoys sending threats towards Billy such as I ll murder you when I get home. which implies that Billy will get hurt later on (physical abuse). Also, this will traumatize Billy and make him live for the rest of the day in fear, anxiety and distress for what might happen to him. The word murder increases the intensity of what Jud had said and shows that he resorts to physically abusing his brother.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gryce, the school principal. Mr. Gryce has a special disliking toward Billy and hurts him both mentally and physically; for daydreaming, he shouts at Billy you ll be tired when I m finished with you and later on goes to give two strokes each. The phrase when I m finished with you emphasizes the point that Gryce will abuse Billy later on, overwhelming him with trauma and fear. In that time and age, corporal punishment was considered ordinary. However, corporal punishment is only hitting the leg, not belittling and verbally abusing children. For the second quote, some of the audience might justify Gryce s actions as corporal punishment. The play wright has done this to show that even teachers can be using the law for their evil actions. The word finished highlights the fact that Gryce will continue to abuse him and that he isn t going to let him off so easily. Gryce might be using corporal punishment as a pass to bully and punish students he despises. In contrast to the other students that were there (three smokers, Mac Dowell), Billy had done nothing wrong or even worth punishment which means that Gryce is accusing and abusing an innocent ... • 9. Role Of Female Nature In Frankenstein In the novel Frankenstein, the author Mary Shelley reinforced the role of female nature in a book that is predominantly male oriented. The female character is an underlying feature throughout the whole novel. For example, when Victor Frankenstein created his Monster from dead body parts, he disregarded the laws of femalereproduction. Both Anne K. Mellor and Jonathon Bate argue that Victor defiled the feminine naturewhen he created his Monster from unnatural means. Mellor argued in her essay, Possessing Nature: The Female in Frankenstein, that Victor eliminated the necessity to have females at all (355). There will not be a need for females if new beings are created in a laboratory. The disruption of mother nature is one of the novel s original sins (479). In Bate s essay, Frankenstein and the State of Nature, he argued that Victor Frankenstein broke the balance between female principles of maternity and mother nature (477). Frankenstein broke nature and undermined the role of females. The argument of Mellor was more persuasive than the discussion of Bate because she was able to provide more evidence that Victor Frankenstein dishonored the role of female nature. In Mary Shelley s novel, nature plays a vital role in the development of the plot. Nature is considered a female part because Mother Nature is the collective personification of life. Nature is life bearing and nurturing, as females are to their offspring. In spite of nature being feminine, Victor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People often used type writers, went, dancing, did puzzle, and played board games for entertainment. Nowadays, the use of computers has become extremely popular. If an individual is not using a computer for some form on entertainment, they are most likely using it for something along the lines of school or work. In his article, Steven Lohr says, On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face to face instruction. Although this may be true for some individuals, there are a majority of others who will argue that this statement is wrong. He also states, The real promise of online education, experts say, is providing learning experiences that are more tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms. That enables more learning by doing, which many students find more engaging and useful. This article is leaning more towards the idea that online education is a better choice than classroom education. This idea could go both ways. It mostly depends on the preferred learning style of the student. If the student learns better by reading the required learning material, then he or she would probably agree that online courses are easier for them. However, if the student is a more visual learner, then he or she may learn better by being in a classroom and being physically taught. They may also agree that taking online courses make knowledge valueless. There are also many individuals out there who will argue that video games have positive effects on children in our society today. Student Characters InA Palace Thief, By Ethan Canin Within the text A Palace Thief by Ethan Canin, Hundert, a history teacher in St. Benedict s, believes that he will mold his students characters. He then meets Sedgewick Bell, a student who influences his code of morals. A major ideology that Hundert believes in is that with the assistance of history, he will develop good character and high ideals in the minds of his students. He believes that with these characteristics his students would become great men in the future. In the text when Hundert is asked by Senator Bell what is the benefit of teaching his students history, Hundert replies saying, When they read the reign of Augustus Caesar... advances lead mankind away from the brutish rivalries... into the two centuries of Pax Romana, then they understand the importance of character and high ideals. It is important to note how Hundert is able to say this statement without hesitation and declares that he is well prepared. • 13. Circumcision Persuasive Speech Title: Circumcision in baby boys Name: Leya Saju Plain Language Summary What is circumcision? What are the benefits? What are the risks? Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men. Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other families see it as unnecessary. Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance of getting infections. Sometimes in men who are not circumcised, it may become difficult to pull the foreskin back. This may cause that foreskin or the head of the penis to become inflamed. Also, cancer of the penis is seen less in circumcised men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rarely, the foreskin does not heal properly or the cut may be made too short or too long. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends circumcision because there are a lot more benefits than risks, but the decision is entirely up to the parents. How is it done? Does it hurt? Circumcision is usually done within 10 days after birth at the hospital nursery. It takes about 10 minutes to do. The baby will lie on his back and the foreskin will be removed by attaching a Mogen or Gomco clamp to the penis. Ointment and gauze are then used to wrap the penis. An injection with anesthetics or a cream for pain is used first. To distract the infant, sometimes sugar water is also used. Research also shows that there may be a difference in pain when a Mogen clamp is used instead of Gomco. • 14. Essay about Amazing Grace Amazing Grace is not a good movie, it is a great movie. Films on History can be lengthy and tedious, but that sure is not the case in this fascinating movie about the famous abolitionist William Wilberforce, who was responsible for steering anti slave trade legislation through the British parliament. Contrary to what its title suggests, Amazing Grace isn t really about the inauguration of the Christian hymn. Set in the 18th century England, it focuses on William s political career to abolish the slave trade by arguing against it on the floor of the House of Commons, which placed him at odds with some of the most powerful men of the time. William is a motivated man with one purpose; endeavoring to terminate slaveryin the empire.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, he is debating whether he should go into the ministry and abandon a political career altogether. His friend William Pitt tries to convince him not to, and tells Wilberforce of his magnificent plan to become prime minister and that he wants Wilberforce there with him. Pitt, still trying to convince Wilberforce to stay in Parliament brings a group of people over to Wilberforce s house for dinner. While eating, one of the men places a set of chains on the table and begins to explain how slaves are transported in ships. A former slave, Oloudah Equiano, explains the process and shows Wilberforce the branding mark on his chest he got when he was sold. They tell Wilberforce that they need someone to help them to oppose the trade. John Newton, an elderly priest, served as captain of a slave ship who realized what he was doing was wrong. He then wrote a song to God to free him from the sin of his wrong doing in his correlation with the slave trade; this song was called Amazing Grace. Newton acts as indefinite motivation for Wilberforce to continue his anti slave movement. Parliament becomes impossible to persuade. There are so many excuses set fourth by the Parliament explaining what effects the lack of trade will cause to the people of the city, as well as many industries. Even with the research Wilberforce gathers and presents to the Parliament, including an autobiography written by his friend/former slave Equiano, but still not one thing happens. ... Developing a mechanism for the alcohols are discussed. This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing compounds. When a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (Пѓ) bond with another sigma (Пѓ) bond. In substitution reactions, there are two types that are focused when working with organic molecules, Sn1 and Sn2. A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is in the rate determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one substitution that occurs before the final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2 reaction has two molecules that are in the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur before the final product is created (reactions occur simultaneously). The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are common in Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and the solvents are both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. This is the stage where children really start to use symbolic representation. There are only two sub stages here, but they last for longer amounts of times with more learning occurring in each. Instead, he turns into a transparent eye ball and experiences the sublime by permitting nature to trigger an emotional response in him. One of these reasons is that Britain and France would have allied with the South if it weren t for the Battle of Antietam. Britain and France were suffering shortages of the cotton from the South, and they were close to joining the South to help them split. The South had had many victories recently, and it looked like they could have won, but after the Battle of Antietam, the European nations stayed neutral. Another reason that this battle changed the war is that it helped Lincoln win the midterm election. Before the Battle of Antietam, Democrats had been campaigning on the failing war effort, and it was looking like they would control the Senate. If the Democrats had taken control of the Senate, they would likely have voted to end the war and let the South split from the north. However, after the Battle of Antietam, the Republicans gained more support and gained even more seats in the Senate. The Battle of Antietam also helped Lincoln to see the weakness in his general and replace McClellan. Lincoln had ordered McClellan to destroy the Army of North Virginia if possible, but McClellan, with twice the manpower and the enemy pinned against the Potomac, had many opportunities to do so but held back (Klein). McClellan didn t destroy the Army of North Virginia despite having the perfect opportunity to do so, and doing this could have ended the war much earlier. Despite having the Confederate battle plans and twice the manpower, McClellan was still unable to win the battle, and it ended in a draw. Political factors China is politically stable relative to other emerging economies as regards to public service delivery and economic expansion. The system of communism ensures that the government is in charge of all aspects of business, eliminating the chances of liberal trade for investors (McGregor, 2011). The one party system creates an investment risk for businesses because it lacks transparency in standard business practice performed in other countries where liberal trade thrives. Hence, the music industry cannot operate freely because of heavy censorship reducing sale of music and, hence, limiting the overall growth of the industry. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and psychopaths like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims that were murdered by him and never found. One is an old novella taught in literature classes, and the other is a Christmas movie, but if you look closer you can see they share common themes of unhappiness, transformation, and dependence on family support. In both The Metamorphosisand It s a Wonderful Life the main characters are unhappy in their lives, and go through a transformation where they see what their lives are like without them. We will examine the characters, the journeys they went through, and the different outcomes of similar experiences. George s transformation in It s a Wonderful Life starts with James Steward s character George s unhappiness. His job, which he never wanted to get stuck with in the first place, is going bad, and he feels like nothing he does makes any difference. He is about to get blamed for something he didn t do and is backed into a corner. This is when George s transformation begins.
