Architectural Design Methods related to two main things: Activities and processes which performed by the designer from the whole work, from the beginning to the end, till the implementation of the project. And the outcome of the design activity which performed by the designer. We can define it as: "the imaginative jump from the current facts to the future possibilities". It compromise between certain needs or requirements and design determinism. And we can divide design methods to: beginning, preparation, proposal making, evaluation, and action. It is a cyclic process and there is a feed-back in this process. It is repeatable and diagrammatically .
Design and Creativity for Marketing and Management Professionals. Workshop given at Asian Consumer Institute, NTU Singapore 2015 by Ricardo Sosa and Kris Wood
A straightforward way of demonstrating how artists use overlapping via foreground, middle ground, and background to create space and perspective in two-dimensional artworks. Best suited for elementary and middle school students, this presentation utilizes illustrations, photographs, and paintings to identify and define foreground, middle ground, and background.
This is a math and visual-arts integrated project. Using their knowledge of fractions, students create a Mondrian-inspired artwork. Students attach their artwork to a Makey Makey controller, and play a game on Scratch about fractions using their artwork.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. What is Islam?
• A religion based on the
teachings of the prophet,
Muhammad
• People who worship Islam are
called Muslims
• The Muslim God is called, Allah
• The Muslim book of worship is
called the Koran
• Muslims pray several times a
day in the direction of Mecca
5. Islamic Art and Architecture. . .
• Rarely uses animal or
human form
• Uses shapes and
calligraphy
• Focus on interior beauty
more than exterior
beauty
• Relies on mathematics
(geometry) and usually
features large domes
6. Elements of Islamic
Architectural Style
• Minarets or towers
• Mihrab or niche on an
inside wall indicating
the direction of Mecca
• Domes
• Use of geometric
shapes and repetitive
art (arabesque)
7. Domes
• Dome—a circular roof, usually
hemispherical in form, placed over a
circular, square, oblong, or polygonal
space.
8. Compare and Contrast
Medieval Castle Islamic Mosque
You know about the elements of
Medieval architecture. Also, consider
the purpose of a castle.
Mosque architecture: minarets,
domes, use of geometric shapes. A
place of worship for Muslims.
20. Hypothesize. . .
1. Partner w/ the person next to you
2. Think about what you know about Islamic
Art and Architecture
3. Develop a hypothesis for why Nasir Al-
Mulk Mosque features stained glass
4. Develop a hypothesis for why Nasir Al-
Mulk Mosque features geometric designs
21. Stained Glass in Islamic Art
• Protects people from
heat
• Represent the idea
that light makes all
things possible
• Represents divine
enlightenment
22. Geometric Designs in Islamic Art
• Cannot use graven images
per Muhammad
• Designs correspond to
meaning
• Circles represent the
physical world
• Squares represent earth,
air, fire, and water
• Endless geometric designs
represent the infinite
quality of Allah
23. Much of Islamic Art relies on :
RADIAL SYMMETRY
• What is radial symmetry?
• Radial symmetry is the
condition of having similar
parts arranged around a
central point.
• Remember
• Radial----Radiates
• Which one of these uses a
central point? This one
radiates
from a
central
point
24. Our Project. . .
Synthesize what we know about Islamic art
and architecture to design and craft a
stained glass window in the Islamic style
1. Discover how geometry is used to make Islamic, geometric
designs
2. Practice making a geometric design representing Allah
3. Apply concepts of Islamic, geometric design to craft a
window design in a digital program
4. Utilize our digital print-out to design and craft our Islamic,
stained-glass window
5. Apply concepts of Islamic, geometric design to craft a
mosque façade in which to place our stained glass window
25. Seal of Solomon
-Most famous of
Islamic, geometric
designs
-supposedly the name
of Allah was put on a
ring and given to King
Solomon
-represents divinity and
Allah
26. Today’s Task. . .
Draw an Islamic geometric design that
represents the endless power of Allah, the
elements, and the physical world.

50. Coloring Your Stained Glass
1. Print
2. Put print into plastic

3. Color with colored

51. Creating a Jali
• Jali is a stone
screen with an
ornamental pattern
constructed through
the use of
geometry. It is often
found in Islamic
buildings.
52. Creating a Jali
1. Fold paper in half
2. Draw a line like the example
3. Cut out paper
4. Add Islamic designs with a
white or yellow colored pencil
53. Creating a Jali

with a white or
yellow colored
pencil
