Is The World Overpopulated Essay
Writing an essay on the subject of global population can be a challenging task, as it requires a
delicate balance between presenting factual information, analyzing complex issues, and
addressing ethical considerations. The topic "Is The World Overpopulated" delves into a
multifaceted and contentious matter that involves demographic trends, resource distribution,
environmental impact, and societal implications.
One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating through the abundance of data and scholarly
perspectives available on the subject. Analyzing statistical information on population growth,
distribution, and density requires a careful and objective approach. It's essential to sift through
various sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability to support the arguments presented in the essay.
Moreover, addressing the ethical dimensions of the overpopulation issue adds another layer of
complexity. Balancing concerns about resource scarcity, environmental sustainability, and the
potential consequences of population control measures requires a nuanced and thoughtful
exploration. The writer must be sensitive to differing viewpoints and cultural perspectives while
constructing a well-reasoned and ethical argument.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the overpopulation debate and
guides the essay's structure is another challenge. The essay should present a clear and cohesive
argument, incorporating evidence and analysis to support the thesis effectively. Ensuring logical
flow and coherence in the essay is crucial to engage the reader and convey a comprehensive
understanding of the topic.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the question of global overpopulation demands a thorough
exploration of data, consideration of diverse perspectives, and a nuanced analysis of ethical
implications. It is a task that necessitates careful research, critical thinking, and effective
communication skills. If you find yourself grappling with this complex topic, seeking assistance

John Adams Influence
The second president of the United States of America John Adams was born in the
Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1735. He became a Harvard Lawyer who latter
throughout his lifetime, he became an individual who became identified with the
patriot cause which was led by George Washington who became the first president.
Washington led a group of Patriots or Rebels to try and break free from the injustices
that Great Britain placed upon the newly founded colonies. John Adamssupported the
ideals that the rebels thought of and became one of America s Founding Fathers. John

Although when Adams became president, he had to deal with the war that the French
and the British were now facing something that his predecessor faced a tad bit off.
The French and the British were causing major disorders on the high seas and severe
favoritism towards contending factions within the nation. Adams administer choose
to focus on France rather than Britain. The ruling group, had refused to receive the
American envoy that had suspended commercial relations between the two countries.
This lead to the X, Y, and Z case where Adams sent three of his commissioners to
France. Later on though Adams found out that the French Foreign Minister
Talleyrand and the ruling group had denied negotiating with the United States unless
they were willing to pay a substantial bribe. Of course this angered Adams as
Congress appropriated money to achieve new frigates and build new ships.
Congress also passed the Alien and Sedition Acts, which were intended to frighten
foreign agent out the county and bring some sort of oasis of the attack on the
republican editors. After some time Adams later learned that France had no intention
to have another war long negotiations after another both nations were able to
conclude with their respective earnings. The campaign of the 1800 the Republicans
were fully united and the Federalist were divided and not working as a group. This
may be a reason why Adams may never had his second term in
Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper
According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a
common misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time.
Theories are predictions which are backed up by several evidences and supported by
scientists. The evidences that scientists use now to prove include fossils, homologous
structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures, embryology, biogeography, and
biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once roamed the Earth.
Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar
structure but different functions. Analogous structures are the opposite, they have
similar functions but completely different structure.Vestigial structures are... Show

I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in
environments with a lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to
assume that our ancestors eventually found it easier to live in long plains and
migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all fours, thus leading to
bipedalism.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that
walked on four legs according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and
condition of the skull didn t correlate with how old it was, but the cranial capacity
was the major determining factor. Every time humans evolved the need for their
mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having the
smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also
want to say that according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on
two legs one day, but the need to walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our
ancestors which is why some are so close to not being able to walk on two legs at
all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when an organism
was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that
Metairie Louisiana V. Guillot s Fraud Case
COMPLAINT On April 14, 2015, Brian F. Guillot, Esq., of Metairie Louisiana,
submitted a complaint to Office of the Bar Counsel regarding Ernest A. Solomon.
Guillot asserts that Solomon failed to comply with Guillot s request for accounting
in reference to the estate of Elmore C. Desvigne, Sr. Solomon has allegedly
violated Mass.R.Prof.C 1.15(c) and (d). FACTS On April 15, 2015, Brian F.

Solomon knowingly received and spent the $17,000 reimbursement which came
from Elmore s estate funds as evidenced by the check memo which states Elmore

his IOLTA, and then deposit the reimbursement into his business account. On
October 9, 2015, a subpoena was sent by Office of the Bar Counsel to JP Morgan
Chase to officially determine who the mortgagor is for Chase Home Finance Loan

respond to bar counsel s inquiry regarding his cash deposit of $16,860. Based on
the evidence already obtained, bar counsel believes there is sufficient evidence to
file a Petition for Discipline. RESPONDENT S HISTORY WITH OFFICE OF

My First Person Ever Riding A Hover Board
Alexander Roman
Professor Lunderberg
Senior Seminar Essay
10/14/2015
My Simple Dreams
My name is Alexander Roman. My future is now composed of dreams that I have
created throughout the years since I was young. At eight years old, I already had
planned out my future: at twenty two, I would have already been working as a
paleontologist, excavating skeletons of dinosaurs, in Africa, and then I would
have become the first person ever riding a hover board down the hill in front of my
house in Puerto Rico. I would also have become the best person I could be to make
my parents and friends proud of me. Growing up has taught me that the only
paleontologist that I looked up to was Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park and that
owing a hover board would mean that I would have to be filthy rich. However,
growing up has also taught me that I could still become the outstanding person that I
aspire to be. My future dreams have drastically changed as I have grown older.
Now, I have become aware that sometimes it does not matter what you plan for
because life will always have a different plan for you. Because, like a drop of salt
water in the ocean, I walk next to life itself patiently waiting for what happens next.
Even though my perspective of my future dreams has changed, I do have dreams
that I strive for, each and every day. I strive for relationships that are full or love,
compassion, and honesty. I strive for being proud of who I am. I strive to celebrate
humanity s uniqueness, to fight
Healthcare For All And All A Good Night
Healthcare for All and to All a Good Night No one says it better then the late United
States Senator Ted Kennedy in 1978: One of the most shameful things about modern
America is that in our unbelievably rich land, the quality of health care available to
many of our people is unbelievably poor, and the cost is unbelievably high, and since
then not much has changed (Kennedy). According to the US Census Bureau, in
September 2013, there were 48,000,000 Americans with no health insuranceand since
the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) estimates range anywhere
from three to six million people that have signed up for healthcare under the new law
(Walt, Proctor, and Smith). Those stats lead to the question of what about the other...

Since the ACA took effect on October 1st 2013, three to six million have signed up,
costs have dropped significantly for many, but to the working poor in this country
living pay check to pay check the 171.37 dollars a month it would cost a healthy 25
year old in Tacoma, Washington for coverage; could be the breaking point for a
minimum wage worker; let alone the cost of a plan to cover a couple or family
(WA HealthPlanFinder). An analysis of US Census Data conducting by The New
York Times says eight million of the people the ACA is intended to help will not be
able to receive assistance under the ACA due to their state rejecting the expansion of
the current Medicaid program (Tavernise, Gebeloff). Of the 26 states that rejected
this expansion, they are home to just under half of the US population but are home to
68 percent of the nations poor (Tavernise, Gebeloff). Along with not expanding
Medicaid those states also did not set up a state heath exchange, limiting their citizens
to the more problem ridden federal heath exchange site, and leaving them in limbo
between making too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to qualify

Hip Hop And Its Impact On African American Culture
In the 70 s a new genre of music was created in South Bronx, New York. That genre
is known as Hip Hop. Over the years Hip Hop has gained popularity becoming
arguably one of the most influential forms of music to date. Hip Hop artist or Mc s
used it to express their views on a multitude of topics to their fans. These topics
range wildly from the more serious subjects like the everyday life of people living
in the projects, personal obstacles they had to endure, and politics. As well as, more
lighthearted topics like enjoying your time in a night club or hanging out with
friends. For those reasons, I believe Hip Hop is representative of the African American
community.
Even after 25 years hip hop has continued to reflect issues that are going on in black
communities. I think that hip hop has transformed from just a genre of music to more
along the line of being a culture. Two and half... Show more content on

quote If I had a son, he d look like Trayvon. In which people thought Obama was
trying to entice a racial divide. I believe President Obama was simply trying to say
that the event leading up to Trayvon death could have happened to any African
American son. That notion was important because young African Americans are often
viewed as hoodlums or thugs. For that reason, I think that if artist continue to make
songs with lyrics like that in them young African American children will understand
how things should be. Things like understanding that you should judge individuals by
their character and not by how they look or where they
Company Overview Of O Has Been Selling Products At A
Loss
Company Overview
Tesu SZZ d.o.o has been selling products at a loss, and these losses will impact the
company in the future if substantial measures are not taken. The primary issue is that
Tesu SZZ d.o.o requires a significant amount of capital in order to fund production,
especially if the company is planning to sustain operations going forward. Criteria
used to evaluate the future alternatives for the company must ensure that Tesu is able
to manage its current financial state while improving its methods in the following
months. In order to evaluate the alternatives, the decisions made must achieve
profitability, improve liquidity and solvency, and decrease the collection period for
accounts receivable. These three factors were used to ... Show more content on

By combining these alternatives, Tesu has the highest chance of success in terms of
profitability, improving liquidity and solvency, and decreasing the collection period
for accounts receivable to sustain its operations.
Pro Forma Analysis
In the expansion proposal planned for Tesu, an increase in prices will prevent
further losses. By increasing even as little as 10% for all products currently
manufactured by the company, they will be turning a profit. A more dramatic price
increase will alleviate of some of the strain of the company s current production.
However, this could negatively impact EMT as they are the ones who are purchasing
from Tesu.
Additionally, Tesu will also have to gain additional funds to finance their operations.
In April 2013, the company will have to borrow about 260,000€ in order to meet
their financial obligations. However, this does not account for the 250,000€
previously unpaid wages outstanding. In the following month, Tesu must acquire
450,000€ to cover the cost of the planned increase production, which goes towards
the parts they purchased in April. Moreover, their accounts receivable collections are
very low in April and May, because they produced and sold a small amount in
January and February. After the 450,000€ is borrowed, they require 175,000€ the
following month to cover additional
Julliard School Experience Paper
On December 3rd, there was a chamber music recital at Juilliard School in the
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts at the Morse Hal. The Juilliard School is
one of the world s premiere performing arts conservatories located in New York. It
trains in the fields of Dance, Drama and Music. Its an extremely competitive school

feeling, seeing how students were dressed very formal and also didn t feel like a
school environment. My experience was good overall. My expectations were that
there would be a small audience, time would pass by very slowly, also that I

Also while listening to the music I started to realize that every kind of music has its
own rituals. Thinking about how rituals help performers and audience get into a
musical frame of mind, and to contain some sort of energy released by the music.
Thinking back to how pop or rap music music has its own set of moods; depending
on which type or pop/rap it can have a hyper or depressed. In my two experiences
with instrumental music both had a very laid back and relaxed mood. Also, seeing
the amount of skills and talent the musicians playing the instruments have, from
holding the instruments for 30 minutes in a certain position to their ability to read
musical literacy. Also, seeing facial expressions change at a constant moment,
looking at there hand movements while playing the instruments feels as if someone
is controlling their movement speed. Also seeing how most of the audience looks
like there analyzing something during the recital, enjoying the music in their own
way. Everyone should get a chance to experience chamber music
The Catcher In The Rye And William Shakespeare s The
Tempest
A confronting discovery can have the potential to change an individual s perspective
of the world, themselves and others. William Shakespeare s comedic play, The
Tempest, published in 1611, explores a man who utilises his magic to conjure a
storm and bring his enemies, including his brother, to his island in order to reconcile
past differences. Additionally, The Catcher in the Rye (TCITR), a 1951 retrospective
bildungsroman by J.D. Salinger, concerns a seventeen year old boy suffering the grief
and hardship of his brother s death. As demonstrated in these texts, the nature of
rediscovering can be challenging for an individual, however, can lead to new
understandings of themselves and others. Furthermore, both positive and negative
outcomes are a product of a transformation. Confronting and transformative
discoveries emerge from past experiences, in turn, creating a transformation of an
individual.
Rediscovering past experiences can be confronting, yet have the potential to
transform an individual. The Tempest reflects the capability past experiences have to
enable self discovery and reconcile relationships through the rediscovery of the past.
This process may be confronting do to the forgotten or concealed nature of the
discovery, in turn, cause an individual s perspective of themselves and the world to
be transformed. In 1609, the Sea Venture , sailed into a hurricane, stranding 150
passengers on a Bermuda island, where they remained for ten months. Despite

The helmet jellyfish, scientifically known as periphylla periphylla has many
interesting features and many unique facts about it. When just looking at it, it
resembles many jellyfish, the bell is different from a regular jellyfish though. It has a
life cycle that contains fourteen stages that explain how it is formed and how it
develops. Not much is known about this creature when it comes to reproduction and
its behavior. Just like many other species, food, temperature, and other geographical
features affect where it reproduces, lives and where it stays most of its lifetime. Even

They are fairly big, on average about twenty centimeters long and up to thirty five
centimeters in diameter. Tentacles help when they need to move around in the
water. These species of jellyfish are usually found in the South Georgia Islands
and Antarctica but are not found in areas like the Arctic Ocean. Even though they
tend to stay in these regions, where they move depends on the movement of their
prey and how conditions are in their current location. When they are forced to
move they use their tentacles and also their coronal groove which gives them the
flexibility to move around faster by the pulsations of the deltoid muscles in the bell
(Sornes, 2008). These jellyfish tend to stay deep in the water and avoid the surface
unless they are trying to mate. They also move towards the surface when it s night
time because the sun is not a danger to them. The sun is a major threat to how they
live and could kill them if they get direct sunlight for a long period of

The little mouse crouched in the bush. Ginger went into a hunting crouch he snuck
up on the mouse. Right when he was about to pounce, he heard a grumbling the
mouse scapered away and Ginger woke up with a start. He jumped down from his
twoleg bed and walked out into the kitchen. He had been having this dream for
many moons now. He looked down at his food bowl and ate the food. His fur was
glimmering in the morning sun. His dream reminded him of how he always
wanted to live in the forest and hunt for mice. He went out to his twolegs garden.
He looked at the forest beyond his home. He wanted to go and live a life in the
forest ever since he was a kit. He had heard of stray cats that lived in the forest
beyond. He thought that maybe he could join them.
He decided it was time he journeyed away from his home into the forest beyond. He
knew it was going to be hard but it was life he had always dreamed of. He thought
that maybe other cats might want to come along with him. He knew that none of
his kittypet friends would want to come along. I might be able to find other cats
along the way , he thought. He knew that it was to early to leave today. He to
prepare for the long journey ahead. He had to find the cats that wanted to go with
him today. He jumped down from the fence and started looking.
This task is harder than I inferred , he said to himself. Maybe I should ask some cats
I know, he thought. None of the cats knew any strays that might want to come with

The Kindness Experiment
Throughout the week of January 9 13, Mrs. Thompson s Language Arts classes

What Does The Cat In The Sky Mean
In THE GOLDEN CAT, Gabriel King continues the enchanting quest that began with
The Wild Road the novel the San Francisco Chronicle crowned mythical, and Richard
Adams, author of Watership Down, deemed absolutely magical. . .
The ancient prophecy speaks of a golden cat whose coming will heal the troubled
world. But the Queen of Cats has three golden kittens and when two are stolen away,
the distraught parents turn to Tag, the brave young catwho is the protector of the
magical Wild Road.
The desperate search moves from the water lit Oceanarium and sun dappled Tintagel
to the distant Louisiana bayous and the pyramids of Egypt. As Tag and his friends
struggle on, so does a terrifying, unearthly force a preternatural vortex threatening the
Wild Road, tearing at the very fabric of existence. But Tag is disastrously unprepared
for the powerful darkness that threatens to consume everything in its walk.

be interpreted as some sort of a dance. This shows that although the two are
different in so many ways, they are still close kindred and can change with each

reflections of the moon in its eyes, seeming to change as the moon does. However,
more importantly, the changing of the cat s eyes could also link with Gonne s

State Board Of Education Case Study
The learning environment that ELL students have in the classroom has been
impacted by the history of laws and bills passed by the board of education. Many
school districts all over the United States are experiencing an increase in the
enrollment of students who cannot speak, read, or write English in order to fully
participate in their education. Numerous pieces in history took action in order to
prevent these learners from risking their loss of opportunities. The Civil Rights

In Lau v. Nichols of 1974, the Supreme Court stated that school districts have to
take steps in order to help ELL students conquer language barriers and to enable
them to participate fully in the districts educational programs. The case of Plyler vs.

Design of Non optical Carrier Single Sideband and wavelength reused DWDM
passive optical network with Wired/Wireless Services Incorporating OFDM
Abstract In this work, an integrated passive optical network and free space optical
communication system based on no carrier single sideband modulation is proposed.
Optical orthogonal frequency multiplexing is employed with dense wavelength
division multiplexing to support 16 channels over 300 km bidirectional single mode
fiber to enhance spectral efficiency and reduce inter symbol interference. Moreover,
wavelength reuse is also realized to design cost effective optical network units.

Literature of OFDM system provides us that there are significantly three kinds of
the OFDM such as direct detection, coherent detection and heterodyne detection.
However, all the aforementioned types can be used in the systems based on the
specifications or user demands [7]. To understand the cost effective system, direct
detection and heterodyne reception are ideal beneficiaries [8]. In any case,
regardless the utilization of single photo detector in reception of OFDM signals
and offers the cost effective modulation, it experiences short separation
transmissions [9]. Due to phase matching at the receiver, CO OFDM is considered
as the unmistakable and potential contender for long separation transmissions [10].
Till now, different methodologies are exhibited to create a dependable OFDM
signals incorporating double side band and single side band modulation [11].
Disadvantage in the former modulation such as double side band (DSB) modulation,
is the bandwidth inefficiency and limiting effects of power fading because of
dispersion effects [12]. Unexpectedly, single sideband balance offers more
noteworthy insusceptibility or resistance to scattering impacts and procures less data
transmission in the optical fiber [13]. Also, it is studied that the optical carrier to
signal power ratio (CSPR) is vital parameter in the frameworks that utilized the single
side band adjustment in OFDM. Nonlinearities are because of high power, in the fiber,

Essay Who Was Responsible For The Downfall Of James
Was James II the architect of his own downfall?
In many aspects James II can be seen as being the architect for his own downfall.
James II inherited the throne from Charles II in a relatively strong position.
However, James was known to be a catholic by many and this caused a lot of worry
amongst many people. The people in general feared catholicism and what it would
come to bring. It can be seen that James II bought the 1688 Glorious revolution upon
himself. There were many factors which brought about the downfall of James II,
some which were of his own fault and some which were not.
The Glorious Revolution was the coming downfall of James II. James was the
architect of his own downfall to some extent in this scenario. He refused to believe ...

Upon James return to England William of Orange was determined that his return
would be short lived. James is quoted in W.A Specks writings as saying if I do not
retire, I shall certainly be sent to the Tower, and no King ever went out of that
place but to his Grave . This could indicate that William of Orange forcefully
removed and wanted to rid of James II and that James downfall was as a result of
William. James fled to France after his request to leave the capital. James downfall
may also have been due to fear that their would not be a protestant succession after
an heir to the throne was produced. Instead, many were hoping that James
protestant daughter Mary would be the successor of the throne, but when the birth
of a male heir came about in 1688 all hopes of this happening were lost. This may
have been another factor which led to James downfall and something which may
have further influenced William of Orange s decision into intervening. Edward
Valance argues that another reason for William intervening was his wish to bring
England into a war with France. William therefore assumed that a free parliament
would have more intent to support this objective. James downfall can therefore be
seen as a result of William of Orange rather than of his own doing in this
Women In Combat Roles
I read your article Maintain the combat exclusion for Women in the military,
published at the New York Times online, and I have to say that I disagree with your
belief that women should continue to be excluded from combat roles in the military.
Throughout your article you made a couple good points, however, the majority of
what you had to say was based off of a ridiculous and outdated societal view
regarding women in general, not just women in combat. Over the course of centuries
the role of women in society has drastically changed and evolved, now more than
ever, women are heads of households, companies, and organizations. Why then should
a women s role in the militarybe any different? I implore you to reconsider your
stance regarding women in combat based off of the following information.... Show

Maj. Lisa Jaster, Capt. Kristen Griest and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver (Martinez, 2015) have

soldiers, regardless of gender are now welcome to participate in Army Ranger

open all combat related jobs in the military to any woman interested in and
physically conditioned to pursue them (Donahue, 2015). The purpose of the Army
Ranger course, just as any other combat related course is to teach soldiers how to
overcome stress, fatigue, and hunger in combat (Martinez, 2015), so that they are
able to perform at their best in extreme situations. The fact that there are women who
have overcome these obstacles to prove their ability to serve in combat should lend

The Youth Curfew Diminished Productivity Among Youth
And...
On August 5th 2014, the Baltimore City Council launched one of the strictest
youth curfews in the nation. The curfew requires that all youth under the age of 14
be indoors by 9 p.m. and 15 and 16 years olds in at 10 on weekdays and 11 p.m. on
weekends. (Reed) The curfew itself sparked an outrage from Baltimorecitizens,
mainly parents and youth. Many deem the new restriction positive and beneficial to
the city s drug and crimeproblems, but others visualize it as ineffective and
discriminatory, and have the potential to entangle young people especially teens from
minorities and low income groups in the criminal justice system. (Gambino) The
youth curfewdiminished productivity amongst the youth, has become the wrong
alternative to the city s problems, and has built a barrier between the youth and the
city law enforcement.
Take a moment and think back to the summer months in Baltimore. There are kids
of all ages running around on the playground and lounging around the neighborhood
recreational pool on a really hot day. There are young men at the mall shopping and
attempting to holler at the girls with a facade of swagger. As the day ends, here
come the exhausted young adults heading home from their summer jobs through
Youth Works. When Baltimore s officials dropped the curfew into an effect, all that
colorful energy drained out of the summer. The guys no longer play football and
basketball in the middle of their blocks and alleys with their neighbors and cousins at
Bellamy Case Study
Bellamy participated in the focused reading intervention Read 180 with the school
reading specialist. Despite Bellamy s excitement to personalize his learning, Bellamy
has experienced limited success. Based on the individually administered Woodcock
Johnson Tests of Achievement IV (WJ IV), Bellamy performed in the Basie Reading
Skills cluster with a standard score of 89 (low average when compared to same age
peers). On the two subtests within the Basic ReadingSkills cluster, Bellamy achieved
the following: Letter Word Identification 94 (Average) and Word Attack 83 (Low
Average). These scores indicate that Bellamy reads in the average to low average
range when compared to his same age level peers. These tests measure sight word
vocabulary, phonics application, and structural analysis skills. Currently, a
consistent pattern in Bellamy s word calling errors has not been discovered.
During recent progress monitoring, Bellamy read aloud three different 100 word
paragraphs at the early tenth grade level with 62% word calling accuracy. He can
read and/or decode many predictable words. When using vocabulary flash cards
(words in isolation) based on his reading level (early tenth grade), Bellamy could
correctly identify and define 59% of the words. Each day Bellamy s literature teacher

The Role Of Love In The Great Gatsby

man has a beautiful home; he has all of the money he could possibly handle and he
is a very charismatic human being. Everyone loves what he has, materialistic wise
and he happens to be appreciated well throughout New York. Although Jay Gatsby
has everything, he has nobody. Gatsby has no one to come home to and no one to

Phonological Awarness
Reading is an acquired skill, developed through explicit teaching and founded upon a
child s innate ability to hear and process sounds from birth. Beginning at birth
exposure to oral language, gestures and the functions of communication (Fellows
Oakley, 2010 p.165) allows exploration of sounds and words and their connection to
each other, and introduces cue systems that will later assist in decoding complex text
as development of reading ability occurs. Cue systems including linguistic rules of
speech, such as grammatical, pragmatic, semantic and syntactic structures (McDevitt
Ormrod, 2004, p. 324), provide readers with strategies and knowledge for
comprehension and phonological awareness (Gascoigne, 2005, p. 1). Rich language

building word lists based on common elements (Pinnell Fountas, 1998, p. 157),

Analyzing Richard Dawkins The Selfish Gene
The Selfish Gene is a very well written nonfictional book. Richard Dawkins has a
wonderful way of explaining his opinion on natural selection and evolution. The
book is geared towards anyone with a basic understanding of evolution and biology
and wants to learn more.
The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins is a book about how different species act and
how their behaviour can affect future generations. Animals that act unselfishly; the
term altruistically is used in the book, cannot pass on their behaviours. Animals that
do act selfishly will pass on their behaviours to future generations. Our genes may
instruct us to be selfish, but we are not necessarily compelled to obey them all our
lives. [Page 3]

The title of this chapter grammatically does not make sense and sounds like a
question that a young child would ask. But what Darwin really wants to know is
why we exist? Darwin believes that it took three million years for a man named
Charles Darwin to truly discover why we exist. Charles Darwin was a natural scientist
who studied variation between plants and animals and came up with the theory of
evolution which is accepted by many scientists today. Dawkins then goes on to look
at the biology of selfishness and altruism. Let us try to teach generosity and altruism,
because we are born selfish. [Page 3] It is shown that Dawkins believes that the
selfishness of our genes make them able to reproduce copies of themselves; this is
the starting point of

Within this essay I plan to discuss: one current view of path physiology of pain, two

nursing management of acute pain experience in babies and toddlers, including a
strategy for ensuring the safe delivery of care. There have been a range of theories
put forward in attempt to explain the path physiology of pain, one of these is the gate
control theory (Fraser.L 1996) which states that a stimuli that enters the spinal cord
can be manipulated through a process of opening and closing gates, which in turn
determines if impulses proceed or not. The Gate ... Show more content on

In some cases this tool can be used for adults with some mild cognitive impairment.
Once admitted the child is usually shown the pain scale and told to point to the face
that best describes their own pain, and / or using the words to describe the pain
intensity and the number is recorded.
In effect Wong baker FACES provides three scales in one: facial expressions,
numbers and words. This broadens and makes it more generalised and understandable
for children of different ethnicities and development.
Another tool which could be used on babies and toddlers is the FLACC scale
(Merkel et al 1997) which was developed to provide a simple framework for
assessment which provides reliable and objective ways of quantifying pain
behaviours in children. This tool includes 5 categories of pain behavior, including
facial expression, leg movement, and activity, cry and consol ability.
The FLACC assessment scale was developed to assess the acute pain of children
during the post operative period although its use is not restricted to that phase in the
hospital setting.
FLACC facilities recall of these categories, each of which is scored either from 0 2

Software Development Life Cycle ( Sdlc )
A software application is a program, or group of programs, that is designed for the
end user. Software engineering process collects and translates business
requirements into technology solutions, by developing software applications.
Different departments have various software applications in companies. Software
development life cycle (SDLC) is a structured step by step approach for developing
information systems. It includes below major 7 steps 1. PLANNING In this
phase, solid plan to be created for developing information system. 2. ANALYSIS
This phase involves end users and IT specialists working together to gather,
understand, and document the business requirements for the proposed system. 3.
DESIGN This phase frames the design of how the proposed system should work. 4.
DEVELOPMENT This phase transforms requirements into an actual system, by
using all detailed design documents from the design phase. 5. TESTING This phase
verifies whether the system works and meets all of the business requirements
defined in the analysis phase 6. IMPLEMENTATION This phase distributes the
system to all of the end users and they begin using the system to perform their
everyday jobs 7. MAINTENANCE This phase monitors and supports the new
system to ensure it continues to meet the business goals Below are the main
approaches to achieve software application development 1. THE STRUCTURED
APPROACH Each stage of the software development cycle must be completed

History And Function Of Foreign Affairs
The History and Function of Miniseries of Foreign Affairs
The practice of what we call diplomacy did not always exist in the way we know it
today. In its place entities, which can be loosely defined as States, employed
rudimentary lines of communication between one another dating back to 15th
centenary. It was an arduous task to have open and responsive lines of
communication between these states, however, given the close proximity of Italian
city states and their need for open channels of communication made Italy uniquely
opportune for the development and maturation of diplomacy. After years of practicing
what was called continuous negotiation or nГ©gociation continuelle the French

9). MFAs are then responsible for advising on the policies they should be required to
implement, issuing the appropriate instructions, and ensuring that they are carries out
(Berridge 2010 pg. 10). Part of the responsibility is the analysis of the information that
missions send home. There is the primary function of MFAs to coordinate foreign
relations. Lastly, MFAs are charged with overseeing interaction with foreign
diplomats at home. Berridge begins his book with what is essentially a fundamental
background on the evolution the MFA as an institution and how most function today.
While some might consider this information mundane or inconsequential to the goal
of discussing diplomacy at length, Berridge touches on these subjects because
diplomacy, like everything, is not static. Therefore, diplomacy is both effected by its
own history and by the administrative mechanism found within; a simplistic but
critical point to make.
Negotiation
Negotiation is the most frequently used tool in diplomacy and, as Berridge points
out, starts well before any representatives sit down at a table (Berridge 2010 pg.
27). There is a pre negotiation phase of arrangements that must be made beforehand
in order to get all of the appropriate parties of a conflict to participate.
Paul A.M Dirac s Work in Physics
Paul.A.M. Dirac started the quantum theory of magnetic charge in a paper
published in 1931. In addition, Dirac also showed that if any magnetic monopoles
did exist in the universe, then all the electric charge in the universe had to be
quantized. Dirac, in his hypothesis, also explains that an enormous amount of
energy is required to produce a (magnetic) monopole particle, hence the reason they
have not been observed in nature so far. Dirac was the first to explicitly develop a
hypothesis to predict the existence of monopoles and the consequences their
existence would have in physics. Dirac s hypothesis remained the only theoretical
solution to the (electric) charge quantisation problem until unified gauge theories
showed that electric charge was naturally quantised. However, the existence of
magnetic monopoles followed from the idea of gauge theory as well, thus
increasing the likelihood of their existence. Another interesting point to note is
that it is not so difficult to modify and symmetrise Maxwell s equations if
monopoles are ever observed to exist. The zero on the right hand side of Maxwell s
second equation (div B = 0) is simply replaced with the density of the magnetic
charge, a term similar to that of the density of electric charge that occurs on the right
hand side of the first of Maxwell s equations (relating the divergence of the electric
field to the density of the electric charge). In addition to this, an extra term is added
to the right hand side of the
Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory Essay
Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory
Ernest Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory offers a promising method of
looking at small group interaction and cohesiveness. When individuals who are not
familiar with each other come together for the sake of achieving a common goal, be
it a group in an organization or students working on a school project, the symbolic
convergence theory presents an understandable and generally accurate stance on how
cohesiveness within the group is attained.
The symbolic convergence theory is praised and even considered a bit unusual,
because it meets the criteria for both scientific and humanistic standards. Symbolic
Convergence Theory is credible because it fulfills the twin objectives of scientific ...

Fantasies do not include any communication that focuses on what is going on inside
of the group., For example, Bob is a member of a team in an advertising agency
and brings up an idea for a possible advertisement. Bob is not expressing a fantasy,
because he is discussing the work at hand. However, if Bob admits he is going
shopping after work to buy his son a bike for his seventh birthday, then he has
expressed a fantasy.
A fantasy chain reaction is a positive and energetic response to the initial fantasy.
When Bob mentions his son s birthday, several other group members add how they
must attend their son s soccer game after work, The atmosphere in the work
environment has gone from serious to comfortable and even energetic. When Bob
mentions his son s birthday, a fantasy chain reaction has been ignited. Other fantasies
emerge about children, soccer games, and birthdays. Once the fantasy chain reaction
begins, common ground is established between group members and a cohesion, no
matter how slight, has formed.
Cohesion within a group is not an immediate form of action. A single fantasy chain
event will not bring about complete cohesion. In the example above, it is possible
that a group member or members do not have children and thus would not engage in
the conversation. Their fantasies have not been expressed at that point, so common
ground has not been established between all members of the group.
The Predicament of Teenage Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is a worldwide controversy that has become a major predicament in
the society that we live in today. Each year, almost half of all pregnancies among
American women are not intended. The lack of sex education in schools may be the
cause of why teen pregnancy is at an uprise. Young women try to find solutions to
stop pregnancy, birth control is one form of preventing pregnancy. Other people
choose to get an abortion. Sex educationclasses in high school can also help and
inform teens about STD s and HIV/AIDS. The history of sex education and its
controversy began in the U.S. It began as early as 1912. The National Education
Association put teachers in training programs for sex education. Some people saw
this as unnecessary and thought that this did not have to be taught in school s. In
1960 to about 1980, sex education programs were described as the Christian
Crusade. Sex education programs in public schools proliferated, in large part due to
newly emerging evidence that such programs didn t promote sex but in fact helped
delay sexual activity and reduce teen pregnancy rates (Pardini,Priscilla). Many teen s
in America get the education they need about sex, but they are not aware of the
consequences of having a child at an early age. Teen pregnancy can be prevented by
using a condom or birth control. When these products fail, teens are not sure on what
to do with the baby. Some solutions

Analysis Of The Movie Braveheart By William Wallace
If people hear the name William Wallace, they might think of the Mel Gibson
movie, Braveheart . As that is a great movie, it s not nearly the full story of William
Wallace. Therefore, a hunt for the truth of the real the story was underway.
William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but not much is known about his
childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace, on a small piece
of land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is
dock number one on the movie. Although some may say, Shame on you
Hollywood, for making up the childhood of this remarkable history hero , At the
time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland was starting its decline into succession when
it was taken over by England. Therefore, the stories could, in fact, be true, although
no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned how to fight battles logically,
which overtime made him grow very respected with the men he met. He was
taught to think before he would speak. He was a natural born leader and would
hold his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had very few men, but a
very passionate and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the
king of England, Edward I, took advantage of the succession in Scotland and
declared himself as ruler of Scotland with English administration. Only a few revolts
had taken place when sheriffs were subject to different areas of Scotland, and even
fewer were successful. So far it seems as though
Racism In High School
The community I grew up in was very small. Everybody knew everybody! We were
all taught to love everyone no matter what color they are. Where I grew up my
grandmother was everybody grandmother. When she cooked everyone on our street
was more than welcome to come and get a plate, if she had enough. As a young
black African American girl I always heard about racismand what my raceand other
races had to go through. I went to three different elementary schools and we had
kids of all race there. At Park Ridge Elementary is where I met my first friend of a
different race. At Career Academy High School, in February we had a Black History

I was always told about how certain races were treated but to actually experience it
although, it was fake it felt real to me. It made me think a lot about racism. It made
me realize how serious it was. That afternoon I went home and asked my great
grandmother and she explained to me some of the things she had to go through.
Listening to her tell me all the things she went through shocked me. She told me
about the how the schools were, the buses and she went into detail about how they
were mistreated by the police. That night I remember telling myself that that
happened years ago and we were done with that. July 5, 2016 I was sitting in the
living room scrolling on facebook on my phone when I saw a video and a very
long caption explain about what had happened on the video. When I watched it I
realized that this was something that happened recently between two white cops
and a black man. In the video I saw the man on the ground while cops where
screaming at him then I heard the police officer yell he got a gun and then he was
shot. The video brought tears to my eyes. I ve always heard about this happening in
other states and it made feel sad, but when it actually hit home I was confused,
scared, and in disbelief and from that moment on I knew this was only the beginning

activity on a daily basis. William Taft stood 6 feet tall, weighing over 300 pounds

President Taft suffered from severe obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a
common disorder that s causes your breathing to stop or become very shallow. Taft
s airways collapsed or became blocked during his sleep, which would result in a
snort or choking to regain breaths. Due to this, he could sleep, but was incapable of
getting full rest. Bad eating habits, being male, and small airways are all factors that
contribute to sleep apnea. Many cases of sleep apnea are treatable with weight loss,
surgery, adjusted sleep position, and the avoidance of sedatives. According to
Kingsman P Strohl, MD, people with severe obstructive sleep apnea(OSA) are more
than twice as likely to be involved in a motor vehicle accident as people without these
conditions . Left untreated, sleep apnea can ultimately lead to cardiovascular
conditions, like high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and abnormal heart rhythm.
These underlying conditions would eventually lead President William Taft to his

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
I.Introduction: History of NCAA and problems it faces The question has been
posed as to why does the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA exist?
In the early 1900s the game of football became extremely dangerous by becoming
more physical and less controlled. Safety of the sport started a movement that has
last through today. The 1905 season saw over a dozen deaths and more than one
hundred other injuries related to the sport. Not only was safety of the sport an issue,
but the issues of competitive balance by allowing anyone to play was getting out of
hand. Institutions took charge and banned the game from their schools. A rules
committee was formed at the capital in 1906 and coined the name Intercollegiate
Athletics Association. The name was later changed to what we know it today,
NCAA. This association s initial formation was to protect the young people from the
dangerous and exploitive athletic practices of the time (NCAA). Currently those
very principles that the NCAA was created on, is one of the most discussed topics of
sport world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NCAA creates and regulates thousands of perplexing playing rules, amateurism
standards, academic requirements on eligibility standards, regulations concerning
recruitment of student athletes, and countless others. The primary and sole purpose
of the NCAA is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of a member
institution s overall educational program (NCAA). Whether that statement is true is
left to be seen. Where the NCAA stands and the motives behind what they do are
constantly in question because of its

Food Culture in Vietnam and America
When we discuss about the differences between Vietnamese and America culture, we
can think of many things such as History, Style of Music, Arts, Religion, Language,
etc. And, I will tell you some differences and similarities in eating culture of the two
countries. Even though they both have things in common such as family s dinner, tea
and coffee for morning, three meals a day or small snacks between main meals. But,
the food cultures of two countries are different in many ways including kinds of
farmland, living style, cooking style and eating style.

The basic food in Vietnam is dry; the meals usually come with rice, vegetables,
eggs, and small amounts of meat and fish. Although similar to Chinese cooking,
Vietnamese cooking uses little fat or oil for frying. Fish sauce is a main spice in
almost every Vietnamese dish. In addition, they drink a large amount of hot green tea
and coffee without adding sugar, milk, or lemon. As same as Vietnamese, in America
they have three meals a day with some snacking on fruits and
Fence Rail Research Paper
Has the chain link fence rail surrounding your commercial property recently been
bent in a storm or as the result of an intruder? If so, you may be worried that
repairing this damage will cost a small fortune and require the use of a professional
contractor. However, the truth is, you can limit the impact that these repairs have on
your budget by simply choosing to do the job yourself. Best of all, completing this
task can be much easier than you think when simply following the steps outlined
below.
Supplies You Will Need
hacksaw tape measure fence rail tie wires pliers
Step 1: Remove Damaged Rail
Begin by removing the section of damaged rail by cutting the rail into manageable
sections using a hacksaw. The friction caused by this sawing process may result in
hot metal sparks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Begin by measuring the space between your fencing posts to ensure you are
choosing the right size rail for the job. Next, remove the post cap, brace bands, and
tension bands from the fencing post on one side of the new rail. This will allow you
to slide the new rail into place.
After sliding the rail into place, simply attach the end of the rail to the rail cap. Next,
replace the brace bands to hold the rail in place.
Step 3: Attach Chain Link
Stretch the chain link over the posts and ensure that the brace bands and post caps
are in place before using your pliers to tighten the bolts that connect this fencing
material to your newly installed rail. While this process can be completed on your
own, it is much easier to complete with two set of hands so don t be afraid to ask a
co worker or friend for help.
Once the chain link is in place, reattach the tension bars that were removed in the
previous step. This will hold the fencing tight between the surrounding fence posts.
Finally, use your tie wires to secure the chain link to your new top rail.

Analysis Of O Brother, Where Art Thou
Introduction
Recession is when a neighbor loses his job, depression is when you lose your job
Ronald Reagan. Recession is only a temporary decline and depression is a long and
extended period of economic failure. There was a crisis in America during the time
period the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? was based on. The Great Depression
was occurring at that time and the characters in this movie reflected and showed was
it was like to live in a time like that. Each character in the movie symbolized what an
individual person would have went through during the Great Depression.
In this paper, I will discuss how the economy went from good to bad and how the
characters in O Brother, Where Art Thou? symbolize these things. The characters,...

these characters really are and what they represent. And so, goes the story of O
Brother, Where Art Thou?
Historical Context
This movie is based on the time period of the 1930 s. The Great Depression was in
action during this time period. According to history.com, more than fifteen million
Americans were unemployed after the stock market crash of October 29, 1929.
President Hoover was in office at the time and didn t do much to overcome the
predicament. Hoover announced that we would need patience and self reliance to
overcome this. In 1932 the crime rate in Washington was at its all time high and
parole board had the most applicants it has ever had according to Professor Carl
Murchison. Seattle Post Intelligencer reported that unemployment drove people to
want to end their lives during the Great Depression. During that time in King
county, there was 190 suicides and even more suicide attempts. People felt that the
was no escaping this financial struggle and thought the only way out of it was to
end their lives. There was also an increase in robberies. People would steal money
from their own workplace. People would take money from graves, burry people alive
and take their jewelry, you name it. With the economy being at its lowest point,
people were taking or getting money wherever they could.
The characters in the movie showed they were living in a time of poverty. Pete s

Overworking Nurses Results On Negative Patient Outcomes
Overworking Nurses Results In Negative Patient Outcomes A major issue in the
medical career field is the demand for nurses and this, of course, means that these
nurses will be working strenuous hours to meet the high demands. While this may
satisfy some issues it also creates others. Longer hours results in exhausted nurses
and this leads to negative patient outcomes. Nurses have many tasks to complete
while they are on the job. While these tasks may be simple they can also be harmful
if done wrong. For example, nurses have to distribute medication to patients. If the
nurseis overworked and tired he/she may distribute the wrong medication or mishap
and give them the wrong dosage. Something so small can make a world of difference
when it comes to the patient especially, if the patient is suffering from fatal
conditions. Another job that nurses partake is transcription, meaning they have to
transcribe what the doctor or physiciansays. This is extremely important because if
the nurse is not paying full attention they could miss a crucial part of what is said.
This, obviously, could lead to misdiagnosis or the wrong medication being
prescribed. One of the smaller tasks completed by nurses in charting. This could
result in the same way as the transcribing errors; the patient could be misdiagnosed or
not treated to their proper illness. ...Nurses working more than 12.5 consecutive hours
were three times more likely to make an error than nurses working shorter hours .....
Abraham Lincoln s Our American Cousin
Abraham Lincoln was shot in the back of the head on April 14, 1865. He was at a
play Our American Cousin in the Ford Theater. John Wilkes Booth was the one
that shot him. After he shot him he jumped from the balcony and broke his leg. He
hobbled away in a dramatic manner. When he was hobbling away Booth screamed
out Sic semper tyrannis. Right after Lincoln was shot in the head a doctor from the
audience rushed to help him. Lincoln was slouched over in his chair paralyzed.
Soldiers carried him to a house across the street. The vice president Andrew
Johnson stood by Lincoln bedside until he had died by many other close family and
friends by his side. The first lady and her oldest son laid on a bed overwhelmed with
grief. John Booth was an
The Role Of The 1919 World Series In The Great Gatsby
The 1919 World Series is a critical part of the novel, The Great Gatsby,
understanding what happened in the series can help us to understand the fact that
sports play a large role in the novel. The main role that sports play in the novel is
that they seem to show the reader that sports are always corrupt. When Tom is
introduced to the reader, he is described as one of the most powerful men to play
football at New Haven. This gives the impression that sports are always rigged in
favor of the more athletically or physically gifted people. The word sport could
also be a pun because it could mean sports, or it could mean to wear or display.
Gatsby sports a whole persona that is completely different than James Gatz. When
Nick first meets Wolfsheim, Gatsby claims that he was the man who fixed the
World Series. This is a very large claim that Gatsby makes because if Wolfsheim
was the man who fixed the World Series, then we can draw direct comparisons to the
man who fixed the 1919 World Seriesin real life, Arnold Rothstein. Both Rothstein
and Wolfsheim were the boss of the New York City Jewish mob even though
Wolfsheim is fake. Even though he was not a real person in life it seems that the
reason why the 1919 World Series is included in the book is because Fitzgerald wants
us see that the character Wolfsheim is almost an exact representation of Rothstein.
Fitzgerald uses the scene where Nick meets Wolfsheim to introduce Gatsby to Tom.
The scene is like the meeting of two sports,
Caravaggio And The Caravaggesque
Caravaggio, arguably one of the best Baroque artists of all time. Best known for
his extremely detailed, and realistic style of Baroque art, which, when paired
together with Annibale Carracci (1560 1609 ) classical style, allowed for him to
overshadow the almost mundane style of Mannerism. Though he was not considered
the best artist of his time, when he was alive, he managed to reinvigorate religious
art in both Rome and Naples, allowing for wide spread change in the religious art
world, that, after spreading through Rome, reached almost all corners of Europe.
Though Caravaggiowas acursed with a violent hand, he is considered to be one of
the most influential artists of the 17th century, as his style revolved around taking
certain characteristics from previous afamed artists, thus allowing for him to create
his own unique style that was recognized nationwide, leading to the term
caravaggesque, meaning, when a painting mimics the style of his works, it is deemed
as being caravaggesque .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From, 1584 1592 he lived in Milan, learning how to paint, being shown both style
and technique from the artist Simone Peterzano ( 1540 1596 ) . At the age of 21, a
young and talented Caravaggio moved to Rome in order to further pursue his
career as an artist, and indeed, this is when Cardinal Francesco Maria Del Monte
first noticed his work. Cardinal Francesco first noticed Caravaggio after observing
one of his paintings, The Cardsharps ( 1594 ), the Cardinal, upon seeing such talent,
had Caravaggio go work for Cardinal Matthew Contarelli, in the Contarelli Chapel.
The two paintings Caravaggio made were, The Calling of Saint Matthew (1599

Roe vs Wade
In 1973, the Supreme Court made a decision in one of the most controversial cases
in history, the case of Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)), in which abortion was
legalized and state anti abortion statues were struck down for being
unconstitutional. This essay will provide a brief history and analysis of the issues
of this case for both the woman s rights and the states interest in the matter. Also,
this essay will address the basis for the court ruling in Roe s favor and the effects
this decision has had on subsequent cases involving a woman s right to choose
abortion in the United States. The court s decision created legal precedent for
several subsequent abortion restriction cases and has led to the development of
legislation to protect women s health rights. Although the Supreme Court s
decision in Roe v. Wade was a historic victory for women s rights, it is still an
extremely controversial subject today and continues to be challenged by various
groups. Roe v. Wade Case Law Analysis Before 1973, abortion access was
determined by state legislature for each individual state with no consistency across
the United States. Some states allowed abortions but most state statues heavily
restricted or completely banned abortion. The restricted states would generally only
allow abortion in the event of rape, incest, fetal anomalies, or the woman s life is at
risk. The state of Texas enforced a state statute that made it illegal for an abortion to
be performed unless the woman s
The Role Of Law In The 17th Century
Throughout the chronology of civilization across our terraqueous globe, there has
been one aspect of society which facilitates our stability. That aspect is our
adherence to moral ethics and just laws. This developed cultural trait has ensured the
progression of society and the safety in developing a complacency to fear or harm. It
is law, that protects us from the dangers of ourselves and the malevolence of others.
However, the law has never been indefectible or paradisiac. The laws of man often
reveal their faultiness, and their vulnerability to pervasive interpretation. During the
17th century, the New World suffered greatly in developing new laws, regulations,
and experimental societal structure. The 17th century contemporary philosophy on
community, family, and religion formed the guidelines in which all societal rules
would be formed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the early days of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, superstitious societal self infliction
caused multiple judicial accusations and executions. Specifically, one law case
exemplifies the flawed structure of 17th century New England culture. The
investigation and trial of Thomas Cornell (Jr.) in the untimely death of his mother,
Rebecca Cornell. The year was 1673 and it had been ten years since Rhode Island
had been established as a legal colony under a regal charter, by Charles II
(McLoughlin 38). Thomas Cornell had discovered the charred remains of his mother
Rebecca to which, after paranormal intervention, Thomas was accused and later
executed for murder. However, to understand the periods ideals and philosophy, we
must first look back and observe the multiple facets of 17th century New England
Disadvantages Of Resilience In Children
Resilience is the process of successfully adapting to various challenges or extremely
threatening circumstances (Ungar et al., 2013; Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014).
Resilient children develop protective responses during times of uncertainty, threat,
and surprise. It is an active process involving the interaction of vulnerability, risk, and
protective aspects (Benard, 2004). Resilient children experience positive results in
their development despite the extreme challenges they encounter (Martin, 2013).
Individuals become resilient in response to internal and external factors that they
have, which are called protective factors. These protective mechanisms are
developed within children by having good role models and access to adequate
home, school, and community support (Im, Hughes, Kwok, Puckett, Cerda, 2013;
Ungar et al., 2013). These protective factors help to buffer adversity. The greater the
protective factors, the more likely it is that a person will persevere through life s
difficulties (Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). The literature identified a number of
protective factors found among children who were anticipated to struggle, yet
experienced positive outcomes (Benard, 1993). Ungar et al. (2013) observed that a
large percentage of children who grow up in adverse environments display resilience
by overcoming the challenges that confront them.
Various models help refine the various aspects of resilience theory (Ungar et al.,
2013), such as the universal
Essay about Analyzing Cinderella by Anne Sexton
Cinderella
Cinderella is a childhood fairytale that we all love and remember. It is a tragedy
that turns into love and happily ever after in the end. In contrast to this popular
story, Anne Sexton s version of Cinderella is a dark and twisted version of the
classic fairy tale. It takes on a whole new perspective and is fairly different from the
childhood fairytale that most of society knows. The poem takes less of a focus on
the happy ever after in Cinderella and makes it into vivid bloody and violent images.
She retreats more toward the pain and neglect. The poem is not based off the Disney
version of Cinderella, but rather original dark version by Brothers Grimm. Sexton
uses a very sarcastic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dove and his friends are a source of protection for Cinderella. The dove
gathered up all his friends and helped her pick up the lentils that her stepmother
threw, just so she could attend the ball. Near the end of the story, when the sisters
came to curry favor , the dove pecked their eyes out. Sexton uses vivid descriptions
and literary devices to develop imagery. The similes used such as, Cried forth like
a gospel singer , Fit into the shoe like a love letter into its envelope , and like two
dolls in a museum case really helped form an image in my mind. The descriptive
detail displayed images in your head instead of just reading words. The way Sexton
worded the line, All but Cinderella were preparing and gussying up for the event ,
played an image in my mind of girls freaking out and stressing about looking perfect
for the prince. The images of the sister cutting off
their big toe and heal were very vivid. Especially when the dove told the prince to
look at the blood pouring fourth , and the use of a simile and personification in the
lines, They don t just heal up like a wish and The other sister cut off her heel but
the blood told as blood will . Another vigorous image was when the bird took out
the sisters eyes. Sexton used the simile, Two hollow spots were left like soup spoons
. It leaves a gruesome image in your mind of the

Although when Adams became president, he had to deal with the war that the French and the British were now facing something that his predecessor faced a tad bit off. The French and the British were causing major disorders on the high seas and severe favoritism towards contending factions within the nation. Adams administer choose to focus on France rather than Britain. The ruling group, had refused to receive the American envoy that had suspended commercial relations between the two countries. This lead to the X, Y, and Z case where Adams sent three of his commissioners to France. Later on though Adams found out that the French Foreign Minister Talleyrand and the ruling group had denied negotiating with the United States unless they were willing to pay a substantial bribe. Of course this angered Adams as Congress appropriated money to achieve new frigates and build new ships. Congress also passed the Alien and Sedition Acts, which were intended to frighten foreign agent out the county and bring some sort of oasis of the attack on the republican editors. After some time Adams later learned that France had no intention to have another war long negotiations after another both nations were able to conclude with their respective earnings. The campaign of the 1800 the Republicans were fully united and the Federalist were divided and not working as a group. This may be a reason why Adams may never had his second term in
  • 3. Psy 201 Week 1 Evolution Research Paper According to Ms. Witsaman, evolution is not the theory of how life began, which is a common misconception nowadays, but the theory of how life has changed over time. Theories are predictions which are backed up by several evidences and supported by scientists. The evidences that scientists use now to prove include fossils, homologous structures, analogous structures, vestigial structures, embryology, biogeography, and biochemicals. Fossils are the remains of living things that once roamed the Earth. Homologous structure are structures shared by different organisms that have similar structure but different functions. Analogous structures are the opposite, they have similar functions but completely different structure.Vestigial structures are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all fours, thus leading to bipedalism. Conclusion: My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that

  • 5. My First Person Ever Riding A Hover Board Alexander Roman Professor Lunderberg Senior Seminar Essay 10/14/2015 My Simple Dreams My name is Alexander Roman. My future is now composed of dreams that I have created throughout the years since I was young. At eight years old, I already had planned out my future: at twenty two, I would have already been working as a paleontologist, excavating skeletons of dinosaurs, in Africa, and then I would have become the first person ever riding a hover board down the hill in front of my house in Puerto Rico. I would also have become the best person I could be to make my parents and friends proud of me. Growing up has taught me that the only paleontologist that I looked up to was Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park and that owing a hover board would mean that I would have to be filthy rich. However, growing up has also taught me that I could still become the outstanding person that I aspire to be. My future dreams have drastically changed as I have grown older. Now, I have become aware that sometimes it does not matter what you plan for because life will always have a different plan for you. Because, like a drop of salt water in the ocean, I walk next to life itself patiently waiting for what happens next. Even though my perspective of my future dreams has changed, I do have dreams that I strive for, each and every day. I strive for relationships that are full or love, compassion, and honesty. I strive for being proud of who I am. I strive to celebrate humanity s uniqueness, to fight

Healthcare For All And All A Good Night Healthcare for All and to All a Good Night No one says it better then the late United States Senator Ted Kennedy in 1978: One of the most shameful things about modern America is that in our unbelievably rich land, the quality of health care available to many of our people is unbelievably poor, and the cost is unbelievably high, and since then not much has changed (Kennedy). According to the US Census Bureau, in September 2013, there were 48,000,000 Americans with no health insuranceand since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) estimates range anywhere from three to six million people that have signed up for healthcare under the new law (Walt, Proctor, and Smith). Since the ACA took effect on October 1st 2013, three to six million have signed up, costs have dropped significantly for many, but to the working poor in this country living pay check to pay check the 171.37 dollars a month it would cost a healthy 25 year old in Tacoma, Washington for coverage; could be the breaking point for a minimum wage worker; let alone the cost of a plan to cover a couple or family (WA HealthPlanFinder). An analysis of US Census Data conducting by The New York Times says eight million of the people the ACA is intended to help will not be able to receive assistance under the ACA due to their state rejecting the expansion of the current Medicaid program (Tavernise, Gebeloff). Of the 26 states that rejected this expansion, they are home to just under half of the US population but are home to 68 percent of the nations poor (Tavernise, Gebeloff). Along with not expanding Medicaid those states also did not set up a state heath exchange, limiting their citizens to the more problem ridden federal heath exchange site, and leaving them in limbo between making too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to qualify for government
  • 7. Hip Hop And Its Impact On African American Culture In the 70 s a new genre of music was created in South Bronx, New York. That genre is known as Hip Hop. Over the years Hip Hop has gained popularity becoming arguably one of the most influential forms of music to date. Hip Hop artist or Mc s used it to express their views on a multitude of topics to their fans. These topics range wildly from the more serious subjects like the everyday life of people living in the projects, personal obstacles they had to endure, and politics. As well as, more lighthearted topics like enjoying your time in a night club or hanging out with friends. For those reasons, I believe Hip Hop is representative of the African American community. Even after 25 years hip hop has continued to reflect issues that are going on in black communities. I think that hip hop has transformed from just a genre of music to more along the line of being a culture. Two and half... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe President Obama was simply trying to say that the event leading up to Trayvon death could have happened to any African American son. That notion was important because young African Americans are often viewed as hoodlums or thugs. For that reason, I think that if artist continue to make songs with lyrics like that in them young African American children will understand how things should be. Company Overview Of O Has Been Selling Products At A Loss Company Overview Tesu SZZ d.o.o has been selling products at a loss, and these losses will impact the company in the future if substantial measures are not taken. The primary issue is that Tesu SZZ d.o.o requires a significant amount of capital in order to fund production, especially if the company is planning to sustain operations going forward. Criteria used to evaluate the future alternatives for the company must ensure that Tesu is able to manage its current financial state while improving its methods in the following months. In order to evaluate the alternatives, the decisions made must achieve profitability, improve liquidity and solvency, and decrease the collection period for accounts receivable. These three factors were used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By combining these alternatives, Tesu has the highest chance of success in terms of profitability, improving liquidity and solvency, and decreasing the collection period for accounts receivable to sustain its operations. Pro Forma Analysis In the expansion proposal planned for Tesu, an increase in prices will prevent further losses. By increasing even as little as 10% for all products currently manufactured by the company, they will be turning a profit. A more dramatic price increase will alleviate of some of the strain of the company s current production. However, this could negatively impact EMT as they are the ones who are purchasing from Tesu. Additionally, Tesu will also have to gain additional funds to finance their operations. In April 2013, the company will have to borrow about 260,000€ in order to meet their financial obligations. However, this does not account for the 250,000€ previously unpaid wages outstanding. In the following month, Tesu must acquire 450,000€ to cover the cost of the planned increase production, which goes towards the parts they purchased in April. Moreover, their accounts receivable collections are very low in April and May, because they produced and sold a small amount in January and February. After the 450,000€ is borrowed, they require 175,000€ the following month to cover additional

The Juilliard School is one of the world s premiere performing arts conservatories located in New York. It trains in the fields of Dance, Drama and Music. Its an extremely competitive school and very difficult to get into. Walking into the Julliard School also had a unique feeling, seeing how students were dressed very formal and also didn t feel like a school environment. My experience was good overall. • 10. The Catcher In The Rye And William Shakespeare s The Tempest A confronting discovery can have the potential to change an individual s perspective of the world, themselves and others. William Shakespeare s comedic play, The Tempest, published in 1611, explores a man who utilises his magic to conjure a storm and bring his enemies, including his brother, to his island in order to reconcile past differences. Additionally, The Catcher in the Rye (TCITR), a 1951 retrospective bildungsroman by J.D. Salinger, concerns a seventeen year old boy suffering the grief and hardship of his brother s death. As demonstrated in these texts, the nature of rediscovering can be challenging for an individual, however, can lead to new understandings of themselves and others. Furthermore, both positive and negative outcomes are a product of a transformation. Confronting and transformative discoveries emerge from past experiences, in turn, creating a transformation of an individual. Rediscovering past experiences can be confronting, yet have the potential to transform an individual. The Tempest reflects the capability past experiences have to enable self discovery and reconcile relationships through the rediscovery of the past. This process may be confronting do to the forgotten or concealed nature of the discovery, in turn, cause an individual s perspective of themselves and the world to be transformed. In 1609, the Sea Venture , sailed into a hurricane, stranding 150 passengers on a Bermuda island, where they remained for ten months. Despite assumed dead

When just looking at it, it resembles many jellyfish, the bell is different from a regular jellyfish though. It has a life cycle that contains fourteen stages that explain how it is formed and how it develops. Not much is known about this creature when it comes to reproduction and its behavior. Just like many other species, food, temperature, and other geographical features affect where it reproduces, lives and where it stays most of its lifetime. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are fairly big, on average about twenty centimeters long and up to thirty five centimeters in diameter. Tentacles help when they need to move around in the water. These species of jellyfish are usually found in the South Georgia Islands and Antarctica but are not found in areas like the Arctic Ocean. Even though they tend to stay in these regions, where they move depends on the movement of their prey and how conditions are in their current location. When they are forced to move they use their tentacles and also their coronal groove which gives them the flexibility to move around faster by the pulsations of the deltoid muscles in the bell (Sornes, 2008). These jellyfish tend to stay deep in the water and avoid the surface unless they are trying to mate. They also move towards the surface when it s night time because the sun is not a danger to them. This in itself can be interpreted as some sort of a dance. This shows that although the two are different in so many ways, they are still close kindred and can change with each other. James is quoted in W.A Specks writings as saying if I do not retire, I shall certainly be sent to the Tower, and no King ever went out of that place but to his Grave . This could indicate that William of Orange forcefully removed and wanted to rid of James II and that James downfall was as a result of William. James fled to France after his request to leave the capital. James downfall may also have been due to fear that their would not be a protestant succession after an heir to the throne was produced. Instead, many were hoping that James protestant daughter Mary would be the successor of the throne, but when the birth of a male heir came about in 1688 all hopes of this happening were lost. This may have been another factor which led to James downfall and something which may have further influenced William of Orange s decision into intervening. Edward Valance argues that another reason for William intervening was his wish to bring England into a war with France. William therefore assumed that a free parliament would have more intent to support this objective. James downfall can therefore be seen as a result of William of Orange rather than of his own doing in this

MFAs are then responsible for advising on the policies they should be required to implement, issuing the appropriate instructions, and ensuring that they are carries out (Berridge 2010 pg. 10). Part of the responsibility is the analysis of the information that missions send home. There is the primary function of MFAs to coordinate foreign relations. Lastly, MFAs are charged with overseeing interaction with foreign diplomats at home. Berridge begins his book with what is essentially a fundamental background on the evolution the MFA as an institution and how most function today. While some might consider this information mundane or inconsequential to the goal of discussing diplomacy at length, Berridge touches on these subjects because diplomacy, like everything, is not static. Therefore, diplomacy is both effected by its own history and by the administrative mechanism found within; a simplistic but critical point to make. Negotiation Negotiation is the most frequently used tool in diplomacy and, as Berridge points out, starts well before any representatives sit down at a table (Berridge 2010 pg. 27). There is a pre negotiation phase of arrangements that must be made beforehand in order to get all of the appropriate parties of a conflict to participate.
  • 33. Paul A.M Dirac s Work in Physics Paul.A.M. Dirac started the quantum theory of magnetic charge in a paper published in 1931. In addition, Dirac also showed that if any magnetic monopoles did exist in the universe, then all the electric charge in the universe had to be quantized. Dirac, in his hypothesis, also explains that an enormous amount of energy is required to produce a (magnetic) monopole particle, hence the reason they have not been observed in nature so far. Dirac was the first to explicitly develop a hypothesis to predict the existence of monopoles and the consequences their existence would have in physics. Dirac s hypothesis remained the only theoretical solution to the (electric) charge quantisation problem until unified gauge theories showed that electric charge was naturally quantised. However, the existence of magnetic monopoles followed from the idea of gauge theory as well, thus increasing the likelihood of their existence. Another interesting point to note is that it is not so difficult to modify and symmetrise Maxwell s equations if monopoles are ever observed to exist. The zero on the right hand side of Maxwell s second equation (div B = 0) is simply replaced with the density of the magnetic charge, a term similar to that of the density of electric charge that occurs on the right hand side of the first of Maxwell s equations (relating the divergence of the electric field to the density of the electric charge). In addition to this, an extra term is added to the right hand side of the

Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory Essay Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory Ernest Bormann s Symbolic Convergence Theory offers a promising method of looking at small group interaction and cohesiveness. When individuals who are not familiar with each other come together for the sake of achieving a common goal, be it a group in an organization or students working on a school project, the symbolic convergence theory presents an understandable and generally accurate stance on how cohesiveness within the group is attained. The symbolic convergence theory is praised and even considered a bit unusual, because it meets the criteria for both scientific and humanistic standards. Fantasies do not include any communication that focuses on what is going on inside of the group., For example, Bob is a member of a team in an advertising agency and brings up an idea for a possible advertisement. Bob is not expressing a fantasy, because he is discussing the work at hand. However, if Bob admits he is going shopping after work to buy his son a bike for his seventh birthday, then he has expressed a fantasy. A fantasy chain reaction is a positive and energetic response to the initial fantasy. When Bob mentions his son s birthday, several other group members add how they must attend their son s soccer game after work, The atmosphere in the work environment has gone from serious to comfortable and even energetic. When Bob mentions his son s birthday, a fantasy chain reaction has been ignited. Other fantasies emerge about children, soccer games, and birthdays. Once the fantasy chain reaction begins, common ground is established between group members and a cohesion, no matter how slight, has formed. Cohesion within a group is not an immediate form of action. A single fantasy chain event will not bring about complete cohesion. In the example above, it is possible that a group member or members do not have children and thus would not engage in the conversation. Their fantasies have not been expressed at that point, so common ground has not been established between all members of the group.

Young women try to find solutions to stop pregnancy, birth control is one form of preventing pregnancy. Other people choose to get an abortion. Sex educationclasses in high school can also help and inform teens about STD s and HIV/AIDS. The history of sex education and its controversy began in the U.S. It began as early as 1912. The National Education Association put teachers in training programs for sex education. Some people saw this as unnecessary and thought that this did not have to be taught in school s. In 1960 to about 1980, sex education programs were described as the Christian Crusade. Sex education programs in public schools proliferated, in large part due to newly emerging evidence that such programs didn t promote sex but in fact helped delay sexual activity and reduce teen pregnancy rates (Pardini,Priscilla). Many teen s in America get the education they need about sex, but they are not aware of the consequences of having a child at an early age. Teen pregnancy can be prevented by using a condom or birth control. When these products fail, teens are not sure on what to do with the baby. Some solutions

William Wallace was born in 1270 s in Scotland, but not much is known about his childhood but that he lived with his father, Sir Malcom Wallace, on a small piece of land in Scotland. (BBC) and (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica) This is dock number one on the movie. Although some may say, Shame on you Hollywood, for making up the childhood of this remarkable history hero , At the time of Wallace s childhood, Scotland was starting its decline into succession when it was taken over by England. Therefore, the stories could, in fact, be true, although no evidence proves it. As Wallace grew up he learned how to fight battles logically, which overtime made him grow very respected with the men he met. He was taught to think before he would speak. He was a natural born leader and would hold his position firmly. This led to battles won where he had very few men, but a very passionate and trusting crew because Wallace was their leader. In 1296, the king of England, Edward I, took advantage of the succession in Scotland and declared himself as ruler of Scotland with English administration. Only a few revolts had taken place when sheriffs were subject to different areas of Scotland, and even fewer were successful. So far it seems as though

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) I.Introduction: History of NCAA and problems it faces The question has been posed as to why does the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA exist? In the early 1900s the game of football became extremely dangerous by becoming more physical and less controlled. Safety of the sport started a movement that has last through today. The 1905 season saw over a dozen deaths and more than one hundred other injuries related to the sport. Not only was safety of the sport an issue, but the issues of competitive balance by allowing anyone to play was getting out of hand. Institutions took charge and banned the game from their schools. A rules committee was formed at the capital in 1906 and coined the name Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The name was later changed to what we know it today, NCAA. Overworking Nurses Results On Negative Patient Outcomes Overworking Nurses Results In Negative Patient Outcomes A major issue in the medical career field is the demand for nurses and this, of course, means that these nurses will be working strenuous hours to meet the high demands. While this may satisfy some issues it also creates others. Longer hours results in exhausted nurses and this leads to negative patient outcomes. Nurses have many tasks to complete while they are on the job. While these tasks may be simple they can also be harmful if done wrong. For example, nurses have to distribute medication to patients. If the nurseis overworked and tired he/she may distribute the wrong medication or mishap and give them the wrong dosage. Something so small can make a world of difference when it comes to the patient especially, if the patient is suffering from fatal conditions. Another job that nurses partake is transcription, meaning they have to transcribe what the doctor or physiciansays. This is extremely important because if the nurse is not paying full attention they could miss a crucial part of what is said. This, obviously, could lead to misdiagnosis or the wrong medication being prescribed. One of the smaller tasks completed by nurses in charting. The Role Of The 1919 World Series In The Great Gatsby The 1919 World Series is a critical part of the novel, The Great Gatsby, understanding what happened in the series can help us to understand the fact that sports play a large role in the novel. The main role that sports play in the novel is that they seem to show the reader that sports are always corrupt. When Tom is introduced to the reader, he is described as one of the most powerful men to play football at New Haven. This gives the impression that sports are always rigged in favor of the more athletically or physically gifted people. The word sport could also be a pun because it could mean sports, or it could mean to wear or display. Gatsby sports a whole persona that is completely different than James Gatz. When Nick first meets Wolfsheim, Gatsby claims that he was the man who fixed the World Series. This is a very large claim that Gatsby makes because if Wolfsheim was the man who fixed the World Series, then we can draw direct comparisons to the man who fixed the 1919 World Seriesin real life, Arnold Rothstein. Both Rothstein and Wolfsheim were the boss of the New York City Jewish mob even though Wolfsheim is fake. Even though he was not a real person in life it seems that the reason why the 1919 World Series is included in the book is because Fitzgerald wants us see that the character Wolfsheim is almost an exact representation of Rothstein. Fitzgerald uses the scene where Nick meets Wolfsheim to introduce Gatsby to Tom. The scene is like the meeting of two sports,

  • 54. Disadvantages Of Resilience In Children Resilience is the process of successfully adapting to various challenges or extremely threatening circumstances (Ungar et al., 2013; Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014). Resilient children develop protective responses during times of uncertainty, threat, and surprise. It is an active process involving the interaction of vulnerability, risk, and protective aspects (Benard, 2004). Resilient children experience positive results in their development despite the extreme challenges they encounter (Martin, 2013). Individuals become resilient in response to internal and external factors that they have, which are called protective factors. These protective mechanisms are developed within children by having good role models and access to adequate home, school, and community support (Im, Hughes, Kwok, Puckett, Cerda, 2013; Ungar et al., 2013). These protective factors help to buffer adversity. The greater the protective factors, the more likely it is that a person will persevere through life s difficulties (Ungar, Russell, Connelly, 2014).
