How To Legalize Medical Marijuana
Imagine you have just been diagnosed with cancer. The chemotherapy drugs have left you feeling
extremely nauseous; the anti nausea drugs aren t working. Marijuana would help but, if you took
it you would be a criminal act. The government needs to stop being swayed by negative
information and allow marijuana to be legalised for medical use.
Marijuana has many positive effects it makes the side effects from chemotherapy subside. Some
may argue that there are many drugs that can help with these symptoms. However, since the
legalization of medicinal marijuana in California, many patients have said that marijuana is the
only thing that helps achieve symptom relief. Some patients have said that it improves the use of
other prescribed drugs such as dexamethasone sodium phosphate, a medication used to treat blood

And with medical marijuana you need more; it is an expensive treatment. If it was legalised it
would become cheaper because supply would increase and it becomes less valuable.
3: Report officials and data collectors have said that since 2012 when marijuana was first
legalised in America it has not increased recreational use of the drug by a large number. Medical
marijuana is not all of the plant itself. The main beneficial part of the plant is all the doctors need
for the treatment, which is CBD. The CBD is extracted from the plant and is used. Which is
where it becomes useless to drug deals trying to steal some to sell, as the additive part THC is
removed and becomes less harmless to the brain.
So the Pros overweight the negatives so it should be legal. I think if people are saying it helps
them the government should legalise it, as they are why behind the rest of the world with
medication that is beneficial. If the rest of the world is doing it why shouldn t

The Above Quote, States To Show The Relationship Between
The above quote, states to show the relationship between power and politics. Power over the
years has been described as a phenomenon of control in regards to politics. Power is an important
tool, in politics, it has been since time in memorial. Furthermore, Power is seen as very important
because it plays an important role in political issue of our world today be it between countries or
states; that is to also say that power is very important in, International Relations. In recent times, the
bases of politicsrelies on the activities of power. That is why there is the term power politics.
Furthermore, politics in relations to power can be seen as the structure, process for the effects of

Power in the simplest term possible can be the process of being in control; that is being in
control of situations and taking charge. Power can also be defined as the process of an
individual having control over another individual or groups of individuals. According to Hays
(2002), four important things should be noted when defining power, the include; 1) Power can
be understood with effects 2) Power has its attributes to an individual s behaviour. 3) Power is
included with control, domination. 4) Power can be unproductive in some cases; this is because
some gain will others don t; that is to say one individual may have more power that another.
Furthermore, this goes to show how power has various meaning, its effects of ones action on
another, its relations with other individuals in terms of behaviour and power over people in
countries or states. Also, another definition of power can be seen according to Boulding view;
Boulding (1990) defines Power as a the essence of potential for change. This change in itself
being to achieve a common goal for groups of individuals, political parties, states, nations and
countries. In addition, Colin Hays (2002) describes Terence Ball s definition of power as one of
the most important concept which organises political theory. This definition still shows the
interrelation of power and politics and how each relays on the other. Finally, According to Nye
(2011), power can be defined in various ways by peoples choices which

Music Reflection Paper
The second concert I attended was a performance by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at
TAMU s Rudder Theater. The performers were wearing black suits with a white button up shirt for
males and black, full sleeve button up shirts for females. The audience was dominantly senior adults
with a miniscule amount of students. The four pieces that caught my interest are the four
movements from Beethoven s SymphonyNo. 3, OP. 55, Eb Major which is also called Sinfonia
Eroica. The first movement is called Allegro con brio, the second is Marcia funebre: Adagio
assai, the third is Scherzo: Allegro vivace, and the fourth is Finale: Allegro molto. This
symphony is is the first piece that Beethoven creates in his Heroic period when he begins to
write in his own style to express one ideal of heroism taken after Napoleon. The 1st movement,
Allegro con brio, is a fast paced, high dynamic movement in a high pitched major of Eb that is a
perfect theme for a hero. Beethoven s use of this stormy, radical opening was already a new style
of music compared the classical period style of Mozart. Opening his symphony with loud dynamics
at a fast tempois something new that that was not played in the classical period. The two elements
meld together to provide an overwhelming force in the audience, which is exactly what Beethoven
tried to accomplish to show his idea for his hero Napoleon. Beethoven provided the awe in this first
movement from Europeans reaction of awe and terror to the

Genetic Modification In The Film Gattaca
The 1997 film Gattaca, explores the future genetic manipulation of genes, to create the perfect
human . Gattaca was directed by Andrew Niccol. Niccol tried to capture the not too distant future
setting to present his perception of the future. Genetic modification is somewhat of a hot topic
around the U.S. today, leaving several people in question. Will this cause an even greater social
class divide amongst societies? Is this an opportunity that will be offered to anyone? What is the
purpose of creating a perfect human? All questions aside one cannot deny the leaps and bounds that
have been made in technology thus far. This is taking us, as humans, to new heights. Gattaca raises
the question of whether genetic modification is ethnically moral, but also offers a great prediction
to the future world of science.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

New Technology Research Paper
Throughout the 20th century, the advancements of technology have increased, as well as the
population in each state prison. The real question is has technology advanced enough
throughout the years to help capture criminals more than the years past? Having new
technology will increase the number of criminals to be caught, even on cold case files. As the
years surpassed, cases became cold but only the technology has not. New systems were
implemented in DNA testing, allowing it to be easier to trace down one criminal. Tracing back to
earlier years you ll notice that s where most technology rose from. In the 1800s the first use of
toxicology (arsenic detection) was used in a jury. A few years after the first recorded use,
fingerprints helped linked suspected to crimes . The developments became easier to detect which
leads to the development of the first crystal test for hemoglobin hemin crystals. Shortly after, the...

The study of voice print identification was noticed to help the list of suspects narrow down to a

electron microscopes with electron dispersive x ray technology, which helped with the lie

Analysis Of The New York Times By David Brooks Essay
Argumentative Essay on Supporting Our Students
In an article by The New York Times, by David Brooks, called, Support Our students. Brooks
explains that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs.
He said that college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t
believe that making community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In
sum, I will discuss the argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I
will talk about three main points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries
that do have free college.
In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By
using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience,
my scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship
to receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all
of my college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making
college free, that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and
transportation.(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. (Brooks) I
am lucky enough to have a free living space on food, but I have a part time job and most of my
money goes towards saving up for my next semester s textbooks

Gang Violence And Social Media
Protect Your Children : 14 Year Old Girls Shot, Killed By Three Teen Boys After Agreeing To

interviewed a person who lived in Chicago that knew about different sites that gang members used
to promote gangviolence. Gang members made threats, called out rival gangs, promoted their
territory, and recruit gang members. In effect of that, it led to stomp outs; which are,to beat
someone, or rival enemy up with feet so bad to the point they become unconscious or dead;
shootings, and death. It s scary what can start on the media and can be taken to the streets. ABC

Little do they know, that s the easiest way for cops to get you arrested. Facebook is the biggest
source of crime evidence. According to In The Online Hunt For Criminals, Social Media Is The
Ultimate Snitch, London police reported that crimes linked to Facebook, from 2007 to 2010,
skyrocketed by 540 percent. Kate Knibbs says In The Online Hunt For Criminals, Social Media
Is The Ultimate Snitch, A teen was taken into custody after bragging about a boozed up hit and
run on Facebook. She also has many other stories like, there was a man in India that was
recently arrested for trying to sell his grandson on Facebook, a woman in Oklahoma was
arrested for trying to sell her children using social media and a British man stole $130,000 worth
of jewelry later going to the U.K. and posted pictures of his trip on Facebook. According to Kate
Knibbs, Connected Cops, a website that focuses on how police use social media, made an
infographic using BrightEvent s data on how police use Twitter. Social media is the biggest
crime source. Posting your crimes is an easy way to get arrested. Teens see these people posting
comments about the crimes they committed and it influences them. This is why social media can
be a very dangerous place for teens. This all shows that a lot of people are using social media for
the wrong reasons and why you should limit your child s Networking time.
Now, I ve shown you that media violence causes aggression in children, gangs are using it to
promote themselves and announce their next moves and teens are posting their crimes online and
getting caught easily; I hope you can be more careful and aware of your surroundings. This is
important because, this could impact your future or your children s future. Parents, always warn
your children about the outside world. It will have a huge impact on your child s

The Marketing Principles of Fruit Winder Essay
The Marketing Principles of Fruit Winder
There are 5 main principles of marketing. They are
* Understanding customer needs.
* Co ordinating functions to achieve marketing aims.
* Adopting a marketing approach.
* Effective customer communications.
* Constraints.
UNDERSTANDING CUSTOMER NEEDS Kellogg s need to identify and understand the needs of
both their existing customers, as well as any new potential customers. They will need to adapt their
marketing approach to meet the need of these customers. If companies continually review all
aspects of their products, making sure they still meet the requirements of the customers using the 4
P s, it will help to increase the number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There must also be well defined lines of communication with other departments throughout the
company.
As Kellogg s is a large organisation, they have a separate marketing department. It will co ordinate
activities with the other departments of the business so that each marketing task will be met. For
example, the marketing department will have to work with the Finance function to organise the
funds available, and the funds needed to carry out any marketing activities. They will also need to
work with the Human Resources department to provide the correct number of properly trained staff
necessary to complete the different tasks required.
ADOPTING A MARKETING APPROACH There are two main marketing approaches that
businesses use; Product Oriented and Customer Oriented. The product oriented approach focuses on
the product and not the market. It does not take into consideration the views/opinions of the
customers. The company may believe that their product is the best on the market, seeing no need
for further changes or improvements. However, following the product oriented approach can lead
to the downfall of a company, particularly if they are functioning in a highly competitive and
rapidly changing market. The customer oriented approach involves a company being in a constant
state of development;

Gregor As An Allusion In Kafka s Metamorphosis
In Kafka s Metamorphosis it s hard to believe that there would be any allusions to the bible
because of Kafka s religion being Judaism. However, we can see many different symbolisms in
the story that can represent different aspects of the bible and most importantly we can see that
gregor can be a reflection of Jesus Christ himself. I believe that the way that Gregor was
depreciated and hated by his family even though he provided for them can be an allusion for
Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, was brought down by his father, to a land of sinful people. He was
brought down to care and cure diseases of these unbelieving and malicious people. Above
everything else Jesus Christ loved and cared for the people. He demonstrated selflessness, endless

The War Of Versailles Between The Allies And Germany
At the beginning of 1919 all eyes were turned towards Paris. The city was to become the main
focal point for the world s population. This was where the peace talks were to be held to draw a
close to the First World War, the war to end all wars. World leaders from 32 countries converged
on Paris armed with the demands for their countries reparation. The Big Three participants of the
peace talks wanted more than just reparation. For six months the world s most powerful and
influential men met every day arguing, then discussing, then arguing again. Deals were made,
various treaties drawn up and new countries and organisations were created, the decisions made
between January and June 1919 were the most important. This demonstration of power, debate
and decision making had never been seen before nor would it be seen ever again. The treaty was
signed at the Palace of Versailles between the Allies and Germany. The three most important
politicians there were David Lloyd George representing Great Britain, Georges Clemenceau for
France and Woodrow Wilson, president of the United States of America. The victors from World
War One were in no mood to be charitable to the defeated nations and Germany in particular was
held responsible for the war and its consequences. (http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/modern

Polycystic Kidney Disorder Research Paper
Polycystic kidney disorder is a genetic disorder. If one parent has the gene and passes it on to
their child, this is called Dominant inheritance and the child has 50% chance of getting the
disease. If both parents have the gene and pass it on to their child, this is called Recessive
inheritance and the child has 25% chance of getting the disease. There are three types of PKD.
Autosomal Dominant PKD is the first form. This form is passed from parent to child by dominant
inheritance. Symptoms usually begin between the ages of 30 or 40 and can be earlier than that.

scarring, it often associated with kidney failure and dialysis. After 5 years about 90% of people
develop ACKD. They usually seek help because they notice blood in the urine due to the cyst
bleeding. Patients with PKD and progress to end stage renal disease may need the following
procedures; hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and renal transplantation. Polycystic kidney disease is
multiple cyst that form on the kidney. There is NO cure for PKD. Everyone that has PKD does
NOT develop kidney failure. By the age of 60 about 50% of people with PKD will have kidney
failure and 60% by the age of 70. Treatment that is used, is used to reduce the symptoms. Your

The Secret Sharer Symbolism Essay
The novella, The Secret Sharer, by Joseph Conrad contains many great examples of symbolism,
strong and influential thematic elements, and tones of mystery and loneliness. From the
beginning of the story, the narrator uses the setting to explain the situation. The narrator
illustrates a picture of a captain far away from home with the crew that s not appropriately fond
of him. This separation gives the reader an idea of how lonely he is on the ship. The crew
dislikes him and feels unsafe around him, this makes it hard for the captain to build a sense of
trust and have strong friendships. The crew is very hesitant to do what the captain says to do.
The captain is properly stressed by his surroundings, the crew, making his judgment very dicey.
The silence in the book is used to create a sense of suspense. The suspense adds to the idea of the
boat being creepy and lonely. The author expects the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the book, the narrator gives Leggatt his captain s hat as a symbol of respect and
brotherly love at the beginning. Leggat loses the hat after diving into the water in the middle of
the night. The captain sees the hat and uses the hat to see the direction in which the boat was
moving. And now, behold, it was saving the ship, by serving me for a mark to help out the
ignorance of my strangeness. Captain. The hat given to Leggatt by the captain was used to save
the ship. This saves the captain s butt, much like he did for Leggatt earlier in the book. The
cabin used for hiding Leggatt symbolizes the distant relationship that the captain has with his
entire crew. The reader can infer that the narrator spends a lot of time in his cabin because he is
able to describe the cabin in explicit detail. This would make sense because he is separate from
his crew in the cabin. this is symbolic of him being distant from his crew for a long time, not being

Some people believe that they can keep their same routines and successfully complete a college

Students must manage family and work responsibilities to succeed in an academic environment.
Student will not be successful if a harmonious family life is not maintained. Employment can
significantly reduce grades if not properly balanced. Online learning also can be challenging
according to The International Journal of Continuing Education amp; Lifelong Learning:
Reasons or factors affecting students dropping out from their distance learning studies were
found in a study carried out in 2007 08 by using group interviews and a survey questionnaire.
Based on the reasons found in focus group interviews, a questionnaire consisting of possible
dropout reasons was devised and administered to all dropout students in the two cohorts. The
reasons for student dropout found in the questionnaire study were classified into three categories.
The first category of reasons is called not addressable and is found to predominantly to include
students personal reasons. The second category is called not readily addressable. They include
reasons, such as high tuition fees and heavy amount of coursework. The third category is
addressable factors, and these include failure to maintain motivation in study, and so forth (Yuen,
Lee, amp; Tsang, 2011, p. 25).
Successful students must be able to balance personal responsibilities and academic requirements.
Students must update schedules and calendars daily to keep up with life s demands.

St Anthony Humility
The saints give us the greatest examples of this life of humility and what it means. In the life of St.
Antony, Christian monk from Egypt, there is a story that God, through a vision, showed him the
world with the lures and traps that Satan had prepared for human beings. After seeing this, the
monk was scared and asked God; Lord, who can escape all of these traps? Antony heard a voice
saying, only he who is humble can escape these traps, because God provides his grace to the
humble and those who are lowly and meek, but the proud always fall into Satan s traps. But, Satan
does not attempt to attack a humble man.
This story of St. Antony makes it clear that living the virtue of humility is not only a matter of
rejecting the motions of pride, selfishness and vanity, the devil s greatest allies and the sins that
are the greatest obstacle to the vocations we have received from the Lord, but living a life that
sees power and authority made perfect in weakness. (2 Cor. 12:19)
Just think about the Canaanite woman. She did not feel humiliated by Jesus comparison
emphasizing the difference between Jews and Pagans. Because she was humble, she understood
her place next to the chosen people of Israel. Her humility gave her the strength to persevere,
prostrate herself and make herself lowly and meek before Jesus even in the face of an apparent
rejection. Because she understood that power is made perfect in weakness, her humility and

Creative Concepts Of Creative Products
Creative products are goods or services produced and sold by creative industries. Creative
industries are defined as having their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent. They typically
develop products offered in the entertainment sector such as music, theatre, opera, film, art,
broadcasting, etc. Universally seen as a unique type of product, they produce symbolic goodsin the
form of experiences, ideas or images. Because their products take the form of an experience or
service, they are classified as intangible. Intangible goods are products that have no physical nature
meaning a person cannot hold, touch, smell or otherwise handle it. Creative products are also seen
as ephemeral, meaning they only last for a certain period of time. Their value derives from the
artistic and human talents incorporated in it at the different stages of creation, production,
reproduction and distribution. (CITE) In many ways, these creative products are often seen as
more difficult to analyse, manage or sell compared to other commodity goods or services.
Figuring out why these products are often seen as more difficult means understanding how these
particular products are managed compared to their counterpart. Most notably, there is not just one
product being produced and sold. When it comes to creative goods, the whole product is composed
of several different types. From the seller s point, there is the formal product which is the actual
artistic performance itself that is being

A long time ago, in a land far, far away from this land we know, there was a land called Gwyndor,
a place where all kinds of life existed. Men, Dwarves, Elves and other creatures lived in this

borders of the east, there was a land called Azurg, a land where the sun forbid to shine and
simply setting foot in the land drains the life right out of you if you were not strong enough.
Right in the center of Azurg there was a dark and gloomy empire filled with hundreds of
thousands of fang bearing, fearsome creatures who crafted crude weapons out of metal they
gained from fallen warriors whom they slayed, but in the center of the empire there was a lone
tower, and in this tower there was a conjurer of dark magic whom no man had ever seen, for once
you saw him, you never escaped with your life. This sorcererremained nameless because no one
could describe him because no one ever got a look at him before his or her time was ended. No one
ever knew what that creature was doing up in his tower but one day nearly fifty years ago this
good world figured it out. One day the sorcererreleased darkness over all the land of Gwyndor, all
the villages and towns of Gwyndor were destroyed and none who stood up to him succeeded.
However on one fateful day all the inhabitants of Gwyndor came together, Men, Elves, and
Dwarves marched onto the border of Azurg. A company of men led by the ruler

What Were Thomas Jefferson Major Achievements
Throughout American history, an era with Thomas Jefferson was pretty controversial: Some
people questioned and argued his policies and leadership, like the embargo act. However,
somebody still praised what Jefferson did during his presidency, like gave more liberty to the
citizens... Thomas Jefferson was an American icon because he was one of the most importance
presidents in the United States. There is not doubt that Thomas Jeffersonis a man whom should be
remembered in the American History. No matter what he had done, good or bad, as the third
president of America, Thomas Jefferson gave his passion into American early development and he
did a good job in a long run. And this essay is focus on the deed of Thomas Jefferson.
Before discussing his major achievements during his life, first we should briefly introduce Thomas

Biological Substances And Its Effects On Bacterial Infections
Introduction: Antibiotics are vastly known to be prominent therapeutic agents used to treat and
prevent bacterial infections. Antibiotics involve chemical substances, either of natural or synthetic
origins, that destroy pathogenic microorganisms with minimal damage to host tissues. These
chemotherapeutic agents combat various diseases by affecting different targets in eukaryotic and
prokaryotic cells. Antibiotics work through several mechanisms of action to combat target
pathogens: (1) inhibition of cell wall synthesis; (2) inhibition of protein synthesis; (3) injury to the
plasma membrane; (4) inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis; and (5) competitive inhibition of the
synthesis of essential metabolites. Despite the availability of... Show more content on

The evolutionary development of these superbugs can be attributed to the global misuse of
antimicrobial agents. The overpopularity and distribution of antibiotics being sold without
prescription to treat minor symptoms including headaches have promoted resistance growth. In
addition, continual consumption and longer dose regimens of outdated, adulterated, and even
counterfeit antibiotics are common. These factors have collectively contributed to the development
of antimicrobial resistance. And hence, new antibiotics need to be produced as potential agents to
address these pathogens. Many antibiotics incorporate chemical substances of natural origins.
Various members of the Streptomyces genus, which account for over two thirds of clinically used
antibiotic treatments, are soil microorganisms. This is just one out of countless microorganisms
that are present in the soil that can potentially have antimicrobial properties just waiting to be
discovered. In addition, soil is one of the most expansive ecosystems that have contributed to the
origins of antibiotic synthesis as well as contribute to the development of thousands of clinical and
medicinal applications. In this experiment, microbial isolates were extracted from various soil
samples, purified, and screened through a variety of antibiotic and genomic processes to determine
antibiotic attributes. These

Book Report On The Band Aid
It was the craziest thing, Mom, Rhonda said, sitting next to me.
I nodded. I agree. I d been quiet the whole time.
Then I started from the beginning. Telling her mom and dad everything that happened and how
fast it happened. I think they felt sorry for my dad when I told them about the demon. I felt sorry
for him, too, in a way.
Jesus will have to come to me in full sun for me to ever let you return to that house, Rhonda s mom
declared.
Rhonda smiled. I told you.
You were right.
Rhonda looked at me in mock shock. Say it again so I can record it. She fumbled with her phone.
I rolled my eyes.
I can t wait to see Alex s face tomorrow when he sees you, Rhonda said.
I touched the band aid. He ll be fine.
I guess we ll see just how much resolve he s got. She smiled devilishly.
Rhonda s mom slid a drink over to me Someone tell me what s going on.
Rhonda seemed to enjoy telling her the plan. The corners of Mrs. Wallace s eyes smiled.
I see his plan failing the moment you walk in the door, she said looking at me. That boy is in love

Seamus walked up behind his wife and planted a kiss on her cheek. Sanity is overrated.
She patted his hand. I bet lunch is ready.

Colonialism, And Racism
Racism has been a controversial topic prevalent in social and political subject matters throughout
most areas of history. Many times, works of literature reflected these issues that were in society and
politics; the issues were usually highlighted to show the results of such a complicated and extensive
ideology. One such author that elaborated on this system was Aphra Behn, who wrote Oroonokoin
1688. This was a significant point in time because of how many shifts the 17th century brought to
Europe. Not only were there advances in sciences which, in turn, clashed with Christian doctrines
that were in place, discoveries of the New World caused various countries to practice new isms. As
imperialism and colonialism began to make its mark upon the world, especially in Europe, so did
racismand the problems that came with it. Slavery, which would later become tied to racism, had
already been a part of society as early as the ancient civilizations. However, people did not feel
that slavery was a debatable issue, and it wasn t until later that people began to speak against it.
Consequently, writers often used literature as a driving force for either contextualizing or
negating such ideas, and Aphra Behn s Oroonoko can be used as an example of this style. The
complex story Oroonoko places its focus on the character of a black slave, which is ironic on
several different levels. Not only was Aphra Behn a white woman of Great Britain, she served as a
spy for Charles II at a time in

Grey s Anatomy is the longest running series medical drama due to its immense popularity. Since

The American Broadcasting Company television network ( Rating History: Grey s Anatomy ). It
provides a first person perspective into the dramatic everyday life of the main character, Meredith

popular because of the aspects besides the accurate medical implications such as sexual

Insidious Flowers Attract the Greatest Beauty
John Steinbeck s East of Eden tells the story of the lives of many people, each chapter focusing on
a different person or group. The proponents of the novel trail along the characters and displays a
contrast between them. The characters struggle between evil and good not only with themselves,
but with each other. In his story, East of Eden, Steinbeck places Cathy s demonic and deceiving
personality together with Adam s pure hearted temperament to demonstrate contradictions in nature.
Steinbeck uses the calm, fresh setting of Salinas Valleyto create a distinctive atmosphere. The novel
follows the characters and their families in North America. The beginning of the novel consists of
an atmosphere in which both Adam Trask and Cathy Ames live in. They both live on the east
coast and explore its tenebrous tangibility. Adam lives a life of fear and pain in the east: first in the
gruesome and bloody war, and then with his brother Charles. While this is detrimental to Adam, the
gloominess and susceptibility of the east coast is perfect for Cathy. She learns that there she can

terms of living up to Mexican culture as a separate ethnic body. The women in Sandra Cisneros
stories are struggling with living up to identities assigned to them, while trying to create their own

Cleofila was brought into the United States from Mexico not speaking English and living only as
a house wife and a dedicated fan of her novelas soap operas. She is mistreated by her husband, and
Cisneros writes the following about her:
CleГіп¬Ѓlas thought her life would have to be like that, like a telenovela, only now the episodes
got sadder and sadder. And there were no commercials in between for comic relief. And no happy
ending in sight. Everything happened to women with names like jewels. But what happened to a
CleГіп¬Ѓlas? Nothing. But a crack in the face (Cisneros, 396).
This story centers on two characters, Cleofilas and Felice, a Mexican American a strong woman
who drives her own truck and isn t married. This is duly noted because it means that she is
independent of a man. This is the key difference between Cleofilas and Felice: Felice embraces
her freedom as a woman, and can go freely from Mexican and Anglo/American culture. Cleofilas is
stuck under the abusive thumb of her husband and struggles to be free behind the fantasies of her
novellas. Woman Hollering Creek thus opens up genderdefinitions on all sides to the fluidity of
border existence (Wyatt, 244). The story explores both the strained role on Mexican and Chicano
women, as well as the freedom that she can experience as a woman as a woman in any place.
Woman is newly defined between Felice and Cleofilas, because Cleofilas learns that there is life
beyond her abuse and her fantasies. She

The History Of The Internet
The history of the Internet starts with the making of electronic computers in the 1950 s. After a
bunch of rabble The first concepts of the Internet were invented in the 1960 s who saw much use
in allowing computers to share information. It was mainly used for scientific and military
purposes, research, development, and sorts. J.C.R. Licklider of MIT first suggested the idea of a
global network of computers in 1962. He moved to the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency to develop the Internet. A while later, the Internet was brought online in 1969, but was
previously known as ARPANET. It was done under contract with the renamed Advanced
Research Projects Agency. At first, It connected four major computers, which were located in
different universities. The mystical Internet was designed to provide a communications network
that would still function even if some dominant sites were down. The early Internet was used by
computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There were no personal computers back

The image the filmmaker shows you the struggle of victims while iconic music is played. The
motif is the music which can be heard anytime the shark attacks. This allows the music to stand

Brody responds to the shark violence . The scene in the movie that sums up the theme is while the

the shark remains. The movie s disadvantage is to deliver the story live and make it interesting
enough to hold the viewer s attention for about two hours. The director must distinguish what to

The Constitution and the Separation of Powers
One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea
that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of
government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the
Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given
to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John
Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws
and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by
adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur.
When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent
any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has
certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This
is known as checks and balances.
The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative
branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known
as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain
powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power.

The Pros And Cons Of Migration To Tucson
We ve finally made the move to Tucson and are getting ready to move into new office space in
the next few weeks. I thought it would be interesting to share with some of my readers what we
have discovered about Tucson as a place for small business and emerging technology businesses.
First, it s pretty well known nationally that the city of Tucson, and to some degree Pima County
is not very embracing and welcoming when it comes to small business and technology
businesses. There are a few exceptions to this and I want to point two of these at the very
beginning. Thryve and StartUp Tucson are very hands on and welcoming. These folks have a
plan and great ideas. They deserve a lot of support. The reputation of Tucson for being not
business friendly is well known. There are lots of folks who have left the Tucson area and
migrated back east. They are quick to talk about the raw beauty of Southern Arizona and also talk
about how terrible the business climate is in the area. Much of the blame seems to be around a
very welfare centric government, higher than average union memberships, highest sales taxes and
property taxes in the state of Arizona and an alarming lack of good leadership. It s a common
refrain among the folks I have met here who have migrated to the Tucson area that you either bring

Homelessness And Homelessness
National reports estimate that about two percent of the world s population, are homeless and more
than ten times that amount, or twenty percent, may lack suitable housing (Chamie J., 2017). There
is a two way relationship between homelessness and mental health, such that the circumstances
created by persons mental health problems can cause them to become homeless or homelessness
may lead to the development of a mental health problem (Mental Health Foundation, 2015). Shelter
is one of the minimum core human rights of an individual (O Hare et al., 2016). Thereby the lack
of it is often the main focus when it comes to the problem of homelessness. However, there are
other minimum core human rights to consider when it comes to homelessness, which include the
right to water, food, sanitation and healthcare (O Hare et al., 2016). All of these minimum core
rights, not just shelter, need to be addressed with the problem of homelessness and mental health. I
believe the BasicNeeds model, which empowers persons with mental health problems by working
with then rather than for them can be used as a human right based approach to dealing with mental
health in homeless populations. The factors that lead homelessness are complex with the lack of
services and facilities for persons with mental illness being one the contributing factors (Chamie J.,
2017). When examining homelessness through the lens of the minimum core human rights, persons
not only lack shelter, but also regular access to

Persuasive Essay On Donate Your Body
Donating your body to science can really make a big difference in the medical education. Some
people value their education just by donating themselves to the doctors, researchers and others. I
think that by doing that can really help other people that need anything from the body like an
organ. People even donate it to medicine to see if a treatment may work on it to test it out on
other people that are really sick. I believe that people should donate their bodies because it can
make a difference in the world. At the same time, it can be a bad thing because you do not have a
saying in where your bodyis going to go or in what branch of science your body will land, of
course those programs will cremate your body or just return you once they finish with using you
and make a funeral without paying a single dime but who would want that? Those are the small
things on why people choose not to do it.
Some people ask themselves, should I donate my body to science, I say, why not?
The human race often wonders about their options to place one s cadaver. In some religious beliefs
and traditions, this question is already answered for them. Others without a biblical fall back think,
what even happens to the condition of my body when I die?
They would start to assess things and look over their options. People have many sources and

Why Funding For Public Education
When it comes to education, it is generally agreed that money matters. What is not as apparent are
questions like: In what ways does money matter? How does money impact the achievement and
opportunities of the students? Are there predictable affects of increasing or decreasing spending in
a school system? These questions are important for a number of reasons. Funding for public
educationis a limited resource and knowing how to utilize those limited funds efficiently and
effectively is a goal schooladministrators seek to achieve. There is also the issue of equality. Since
a significant portion of a school s budget is allocated through the local tax base, school districts may
have more or less funding available to them depending on which community they are located in. If
school spending is tied to student performance or opportunities, and different school systems have
different levels of funds available to them, then it can be said that educational opportunities for
students will be different depending on which school district they belong to. In an attempt to seek
the connections between money and education, I will look at three research papers which
investigates this matter.
The first paper is The Cost Effectiveness of 22 Approaches for Raising Student Achievement, by
Stuart Yeh. This meta study looks at the various methods/interventions employed by school systems

The melancholy facial expression of the blue imaginary friend shows how he doesn t feel the
same way as the imaginary friend even though wanting to create a connection between the two.
This shows how he still misses Andrew, and as a result showing that he is still worried about
being forgotten a second time. The long shot of the blue imaginary friend looking at the eight ball
up the eight establishes the curiosity of the blue imaginary friend shown through the interested
facial expression. He then picks it up and brings it to his house so he feels a sense of importance.
Ever since that day when he found the ball he had been doing his daily routine with the ball and
sort of made a relationship with the ball which a creates a connection between the animate and
inanimate object. Furthermore showing how he is trying to move on from the abandonment of his

Major Modern Day Issues In The United States
Throughout history there has always been issues among the government and everyday issues of
the people of the United States, but nowadays we have many problems among us that we can t
quite make decisions on like many of past problems. Things that we can t decide if it s
constitutional or not. So throughout this paper were going to decide what is constitutional and
what isn t about major modern day issues such as: school attendance when under the age of 16 and
the laws requiring the every American citizen to have healthcare. Two major problems that us
American s just can t quite find a happy medium to.
When looking at these two problems of our society, we have to continuously remind ourselves of
both sides of the argument, even if that means going against our own ... Show more content on

It has not worked in all states, something we have to keep in mind when passing laws such as
this. In different states, comes differences in culture also. We might find that one culture values
work ethic much more than an education. Or perhaps lower income families cannot afford the
financial burdens of schooling their children. It might not seem like a lot to some of us but
those are and could be major factors in some states. These are risks, but the question is whether
we are willing to take them to make a difference in our rates. From what I have read on the
constitution and age limits on drop out there is nothing between these two things that intertwine
that say we cannot lower or raise the age of minimal dropout ages? As I said before though this
can either make or break the entire reasoning for the laws existence, the graduation rates could
either raise or decline. Those are the risks that we would and still will have to take for those states
that have decided to raise the age to

What correlation was found between the age that bilinguals started learning their L2 (AGESEC)
and their own self ratings of proficiency in speaking (L2SPEAK) and comprehending their L2
(L2_COMP)? In other words, look at three different correlations. First, check for assumptions for
parametric correlations. Do you note any outliers? Note which combinations do not seem to satisfy
parametric assumptions. Then go ahead and check the correlations between these variables,
checking both Pearson s and Spearman s boxes if assumptions for Pearson s are violated. What are
the effect sizes of the correlations?
Answer:
There s correlation between AGESEC and L2SPEAK (r= .198, p .01). There s correlation between
AGESEC and L2_comp (r= .201, p .01). There s correlation between L2_COMP and

Family Values In The Poisonwood Bible
Today, all around the world people express their different and unique cultures everyday. If we
were to go halfway around the world things that would seem weird to us would be normal to
them. What makes people so quick to judge others when they have different ways of life than us?
In the novel The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolveran American family travels from
Georgia to the Congo, and they have one goal in mind. Their goal is to spread the word of God,
their baptist beliefs, and American values to the locals. However, the family fails to see that the
Congolese people are not in need of a change of faith and lifestyle. The family is thrown into a
difficult lifestyle in the Congo with many challenging obstacles that change some of the family
members views and values. With the exception of the father, Nathan. In The Poisonwood Biblethe
values and cultureof both the American family and the Congolese people help shape the theme of
America s over reach in third world countries and the destruction it creates. Americans have
always had a sense of pride and superiority over other cultures and societies. During the 1950s,
the time when the novel starts to take place, Americans were especially prideful. There was a
new age of home technology and Nathan price was determined to keep his family s faith in
check. Nathan Price feels like he is sort of a god figure and the people who live in Africa are less
then him. It is described in the novel that the Congolese

Essay On Australian Flag
Let go of mummy s skirt Australia! It s time to move forward as a nation. The current Australian
flag does not distinctively represent Australia s national identity and must be changed. First of all,
the flag does not acknowledge prior ownership of the land, nor does it demonstrate the ability to
fully reflect the identity of ordinary Australians. Furthermore, changing the flag will not alter the
national pride within Australians as they fought for the country, not for the flag.
It is well known in Australian history that the Aboriginal people were first inhabitants of Australia
before Captain Arthur Phillip and the first fleet. Clearly indicating that aspects of the Indigenous
culture should be included in the Australia flag to acknowledge their prior ownership of the land.
However, Australian and New Zealand are the only two major independent Commonwealth
countries which retain British Ensigns as their national flags. The flag only acknowledges Australia
s historical links with the United Kingdom, unit of the six states and territories and geographical
location. Changing the flag will allow Australians to acknowledge the Aboriginal s prior ownership
of the land and even promote reconciliation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ausflag.com, there is pictorial evidence which proves that the red ensign was the flag
which members of the Armed Services in Australia related to as Australia s de facto national flag
during both the World Wars. Meaning, that the blue ensign on our current national flag wasn t
exactly fought under . Therefore, just changing the flag will definitely not diminish the spirit of the
courageous souls which battled for the country. Instead, the heroic servicemen should be recognised

Handguns Should Not Be Banned Handguns
Gun violence, especially that as caused by handguns, is a major problem in America. It affects
millions of people annually, and the effects it has are irreversible. However, this reality does not
constitute for a complete ban on the private ownership of handguns. A ban on the private ownership
of handguns should not be enacted on the grounds that the United States government ought to
preserve democratic legitimacy and constitutionalism, and a ban is not feasible or just in America
s political climate. Every day, 282 people are shot in the United States but this is not merely the
result of the array of firearms available in this country. Instead, a minority of the guns that
Americans own are responsible for much of this violence.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Wintemute and Teret, professors at Johns Hopkins University attribute this to the shame associated
with mental health in America. Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals that from
1990 to 1997, 90,000 of the 147,000 suicides committed were committed with a firearm―a tribute
to the handgun s operational simplicity and effectivity. Overall, handguns are responsible for
seventy percent of firearm suicides. Douglas Wiebe of the University of California Los Angeles
School of Public Health conducted a nationally representative study which revealed that ninety four
percent of gun related suicides would not have occurred had a gun not been present.
A motley of international examples provide proof of concept for a national handgun ban. For
example, the Australian prime minister announced in 1996 that Australia would be enacting a
national handgun ban, and guns would be collected through a gun buyback program. This resulted
in the confiscation of 650,000 guns, a forty two percent drop in the homicide rate, and a fifty seven
percent drop in the firearm suicide rate. In addition, no mass shootings have occurred since the ban,
a sharp contrast to the thirteen shootings that took place in the thirteen years before. The homicide
rate also fell to less than one per one hundred thousand, while the United States hovers at five per
one hundred thousand. Professor Donahue of Stanford University attributes this to more than

Archaic Word Choice And Run-On Sentences
From of Plymouth Plantation : Archaic Word Choice and Run On Sentences
Daniel J Boorstin once said, By reading we discover our world, or history and ourselves. Although
reading history can be very difficult for some people due to archaic language and run on sentences.
These factors make grasping the authors point very difficult, and problematic to the average
person. The document From of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford was extremely difficult
to read due to his use of uncommon words, run on sentences, and choppy paragraphs. These things
may cause the reader to lose interest or have a hard time comprehending Bradford s writing.
In this document, William Bradford uses very uncommon words that can be hard to comprehend ...

An example of the run on sentences is, Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles
before in their preparation (as may be remembered by that which went before), they had now no
friends to welcome them, nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather beaten bodies, no houses
or much less towns to repair to, to seek for succor, (60). This line is a run on sentence because the
entire sentence is a paragraph long which could easily confuse the reader. Another example, And
for the season it was winter and they that know the winters of that country know them to be sharp
and violent, and subject to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places much more
to search an unknown coast, (61). This is another example of a run on sentence would be this
because this sentence goes on for four lines and could be found quite frustrating to the modern
reader. The last example, And of these in the time most distress, there was but 6 or 7 sound persons,
who, to their great commendations be it spoken, spared no pains, night nor day, but with abundance
of toll and hazard of their own health, fetched them wood, made them fires, dressed them meat,
made their beds, washed their loathsome clothes, clothed and unclothed them: in a word did all the

Persuasive Essay About Relationships
If you have come out of a long relationship it is important to honor yourself, and any grieving you
need to do. It can be tough when a relationship ends, especially a long term one or something that
was forced on you, or you didn t see it coming
. When you are in this situation, it is not a good idea to start pursing another relationship. This is
a great opportunity to look after yourself, review the relationship to understand what went
wrong, and to discover your part in the relationship breakdown. Many people will tell you to get
back out there and start dating again. This can sometimes work, however, when you are still
reeling from a break up, it is difficult to be fully emotionally available to be with another person.
How do you know when you are ready to be in a relationship again? Here are some thoughts that
may help you to decide: * If you are still angry and hurting over the break up, then you have some
unresolved issues you need to deal with. It is not healthy to blame your ex for all the problems,
you also had a part to play. Can you see where you may have added to the situation? Take
responsibility for your part in a kind and compassionate way. * Do you have some limiting beliefs
about men that keeps you attracting the same type of man? Are you repeating old patterns that are
not serving you having the relationship you want? If so, being single is a great time to explore

Uncle Tom s Cabin
Leo Tolstoy once said, All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a
stranger comes to town. This statement can be shown in the works almost any great author.
specifically The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, Uncle Tom s
Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe, and 1984 by George Orwell support Tolstoy s quote. These
authors with their various works show that Leo Tolstoy s famous quote is true. Johann Wolfgang
Von Goethe was a German author in the 1700 s. He studied Law in Leipzig, Germany and
enjoyed writing love poems. He is most famous for his story The Sorrows of Young Werther was
modeled after his own life. It was the bitterness of this experience that led Goethe to write his

journey. From the beginning when slavery was mainstream, to the Emancipation Proclamation,
slavery is a journey that the American people and African Americans took. Uncle Tom s Cabin
resolves, or appears to resolve, the most profound dilemma of the day; it achieves for its audience,

Origins of C
What are C and OOP?
C is an advanced, high level programming language ( Computer languages ) that is used to develop
powerful applications for MicrosoftВ® WindowsВ®, many Linux environments, and other well
known and widely used operating systems. C is quickly becoming the standard language for
commercial software development (Oualline).
OOP, an abbreviation for objectoriented programming is simply code that attempts to place a new
layer of abstraction between the programmer and the data he is working with ... this layer will help
the programmer develop better code more quickly than he could do before. (McHale). OOP
languages must include four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first implementation arose in 1958 and quickly became the standard for expressing algorithms.
Algol was most widely used in the academic community, which thusly led to its widespread usage.
P: begin integer h, i; real array A[1:5], B[1:5, 1:2]; for i := 1 step 1 until 5 do
A[I] := 6 i; h := 1
Loop: if h *= 5 then begin B[h,1] := 1;
B[h,2] := 5 + 3 * (h A[h]); h := h + 1; go to Loop end end P
(Parsons)
The similarity between such modern languages as Pascal and Modula 2 and Algol proves it
influential to the programming community, even today. Algol also introduced the concept of free
format, a concept that allows programmers to arrange the code any way they want (assuming the
syntax is correct) (Parsons). This concept proves itself useful today in making source code easier to
read and eliminating the problem of spaghetti code (code written in an unreadable fashion, or strung
together as spaghetti is).
Simula67
Simula67 was developed by the Norwegian armed forces (Kristen Nygaard and Ole Johan Dahl
at the Norwegian Computer Center) and was the first of its kind to use classes (as class is
defined by a program unit containing both data and associated functions ) (Overland, 3). Its
development was initiated between 1961 and 1967. SIMULA I, appearing first in 1964, was

Essay on The Failure of the Spanish Armada
The Failure of the Spanish Armada The Armada could have succeeded the plan was simple and
could have been effective. The Spanish had the strongest army in Europe and the English
defences were not exactly good. The plan was very simple, but could have been deadly if it had
worked. The main reasons for it not working out were the communication problems. The
messenger ships travelled the same speed, as the Armada so they were nearly useless and the
communication between Parma s army and the Armada were not good. On top of all of this the
Armada had received message that Parma s army was not ready when they were at Calais, which

When the English sent in their fireships the problems started, the Armada s formation had
broken up and the English were coming in for the attack. Luckily he managed to keep himself
out of a fight. The Armada was sailing in the wind and was going to be run aground, they couldn
t turn round because they were being followed by the English. The wind changed and they
thought they were saved. During this time the Duke s advisors all persuaded Medina to
surrender to the English instead of running aground. Medina Sidonia decided to wait and when
the wind changed direction he decided that his first priority was to the safe keeping of the
Armada. The wind would have made it difficult to sail in the Channel, on the other hand the way
that he went he lost about 18 ships overnight, because of the storms. By the time the last ship got
back to Spain there were only 63 ships left. The English attack at Calais did cause the Spanish to
fail one of their orders, to keep in the crescent formation and it caused them to fail there main
objective... pick up Parma s Army. The army were nearly ready but the English managed to get the
Spanish out of the port and into sea using fireships that made the Spanish think that we had hell
burners, from here they started to start a huge battle and the army was unable to get picked up
because of this. Many sources say many different things about the English ships.

How Did Civilization Influence The Aztec Civilization
The panic in the eyes of the Aztec emperor s victim escalated hastily, making nothing
comprehensible and fearing what the life ahead of him has in store. Taking advantage of each
element of the human body, the most important reason for sacrificing humans was donating the
blood of the victim to one of the gods. The Aztecs utilized every resource and every part of the
resource available to them to make them a proficient and accomplished civilization. The Aztec
civilization adapted their way of life in Mesoamericato become a notorious culture; from their
advanced rituals and authority they continue their legacy to today. The Aztec culture had a large

The Aztecs settled on marshy land which over time led to crop failure. To fix this, Aztec
engineers had to come up with an idea that would let them have success with their crops on the
marshy land. They came up with floating gardens that floated over the water and utilized the,
otherwise worthless, marshy land. As Lin Donn explains, the rafts were anchored to the bottom
of the lake, or to a strong tree in the marsh. The gardens were used to grow chili peppers, corn,
tomatoes, beans, and squash (Donn). The floating gardens allowed the Aztec civilization to
expand tremendously and accomplish more with the help of this new invention. In addition, they
also created a calendar based on the sun, as we still do today. Miguel Leon Portilla states, they
had an accurate calendar of years and months based on a complex of days and hours (Leon
Portilla, 28). The Aztecs had two calendars, however the three hundred sixty five day was the one
used most and was the most common in the society. All in all the Aztecs were advanced in their
math and science which helped them to prosper as a civilization. That then helped them develop
good relationships with other cultures, helping with their trade and

  • 2. How To Legalize Medical Marijuana Imagine you have just been diagnosed with cancer. The chemotherapy drugs have left you feeling extremely nauseous; the anti nausea drugs aren t working. Marijuana would help but, if you took it you would be a criminal act. The government needs to stop being swayed by negative information and allow marijuana to be legalised for medical use. Marijuana has many positive effects it makes the side effects from chemotherapy subside. Some may argue that there are many drugs that can help with these symptoms. However, since the legalization of medicinal marijuana in California, many patients have said that marijuana is the only thing that helps achieve symptom relief. Some patients have said that it improves the use of other prescribed drugs such as dexamethasone sodium phosphate, a medication used to treat blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And with medical marijuana you need more; it is an expensive treatment. If it was legalised it would become cheaper because supply would increase and it becomes less valuable. 3: Report officials and data collectors have said that since 2012 when marijuana was first legalised in America it has not increased recreational use of the drug by a large number. Medical marijuana is not all of the plant itself. The main beneficial part of the plant is all the doctors need for the treatment, which is CBD. The CBD is extracted from the plant and is used. Which is where it becomes useless to drug deals trying to steal some to sell, as the additive part THC is removed and becomes less harmless to the brain. So the Pros overweight the negatives so it should be legal. I think if people are saying it helps them the government should legalise it, as they are why behind the rest of the world with medication that is beneficial. If the rest of the world is doing it why shouldn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Power in the simplest term possible can be the process of being in control; that is being in control of situations and taking charge. Power can also be defined as the process of an individual having control over another individual or groups of individuals. According to Hays (2002), four important things should be noted when defining power, the include; 1) Power can be understood with effects 2) Power has its attributes to an individual s behaviour. 3) Power is included with control, domination. 4) Power can be unproductive in some cases; this is because some gain will others don t; that is to say one individual may have more power that another. Furthermore, this goes to show how power has various meaning, its effects of ones action on another, its relations with other individuals in terms of behaviour and power over people in countries or states. Also, another definition of power can be seen according to Boulding view; Boulding (1990) defines Power as a the essence of potential for change. • 4. Music Reflection Paper The second concert I attended was a performance by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at TAMU s Rudder Theater. The performers were wearing black suits with a white button up shirt for males and black, full sleeve button up shirts for females. The audience was dominantly senior adults with a miniscule amount of students. The four pieces that caught my interest are the four movements from Beethoven s SymphonyNo. 3, OP. 55, Eb Major which is also called Sinfonia Eroica. The first movement is called Allegro con brio, the second is Marcia funebre: Adagio assai, the third is Scherzo: Allegro vivace, and the fourth is Finale: Allegro molto. This symphony is is the first piece that Beethoven creates in his Heroic period when he begins to write in his own style to express one ideal of heroism taken after Napoleon. The 1st movement, Allegro con brio, is a fast paced, high dynamic movement in a high pitched major of Eb that is a perfect theme for a hero. Beethoven s use of this stormy, radical opening was already a new style of music compared the classical period style of Mozart. Opening his symphony with loud dynamics at a fast tempois something new that that was not played in the classical period. The two elements meld together to provide an overwhelming force in the audience, which is exactly what Beethoven tried to accomplish to show his idea for his hero Napoleon. Beethoven provided the awe in this first movement from Europeans reaction of awe and terror to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Niccol tried to capture the not too distant future setting to present his perception of the future. Genetic modification is somewhat of a hot topic around the U.S. today, leaving several people in question. Will this cause an even greater social class divide amongst societies? Is this an opportunity that will be offered to anyone? What is the purpose of creating a perfect human? All questions aside one cannot deny the leaps and bounds that have been made in technology thus far. This is taking us, as humans, to new heights. Gattaca raises the question of whether genetic modification is ethnically moral, but also offers a great prediction to the future world of science.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe I m not leaving, maybe I m going home. This quote was said in the final scene where she, alongside several others, finally get to travel into space. To me, she is stating that each and every human is unique and important in his or her own way. Everyone has a sense of belonging and a place which we are meant to be here on Earth. A human being genetically modified or created in a specific way, is like shopping for specific items and brands. • 6. New Technology Research Paper Throughout the 20th century, the advancements of technology have increased, as well as the population in each state prison. The real question is has technology advanced enough throughout the years to help capture criminals more than the years past? Having new technology will increase the number of criminals to be caught, even on cold case files. As the years surpassed, cases became cold but only the technology has not. New systems were implemented in DNA testing, allowing it to be easier to trace down one criminal. Tracing back to earlier years you ll notice that s where most technology rose from. In the 1800s the first use of toxicology (arsenic detection) was used in a jury. A few years after the first recorded use, fingerprints helped linked suspected to crimes . The developments became easier to detect which leads to the development of the first crystal test for hemoglobin hemin crystals. Shortly after, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brooks explains that instead of free college, maybe they should help college students with everyday needs. He said that college is already free for the working class and underpaid. (Brooks) He doesn t believe that making community college free will help anymore with the debt, then it did before. In sum, I will discuss the argument that David Brooks portrays and explain why I agree with it. I will talk about three main points from Brooks article and discuss what it s like in other countries that do have free college. In David Brooks article, he mentions that students actually have free college at their disposal. By using pell grants and scholarships, he believes that we re set. I don t disagree. In my experience, my scholarship and my pell grant both pay for my school. However, I must have one scholarship to receive the other and as a student that comes from a poor household, my pell grant covers all of my college expenses aside from my books. He said it s more beneficial if instead of making college free, that they should help the students. (Brooks) Such as living expenses, book fees, and transportation.(Brooks) He mentions how most students have jobs, full or part time. Kate Knibbs says In The Online Hunt For Criminals, Social Media Is The Ultimate Snitch, A teen was taken into custody after bragging about a boozed up hit and run on Facebook. She also has many other stories like, there was a man in India that was recently arrested for trying to sell his grandson on Facebook, a woman in Oklahoma was arrested for trying to sell her children using social media and a British man stole $130,000 worth of jewelry later going to the U.K. and posted pictures of his trip on Facebook. According to Kate Knibbs, Connected Cops, a website that focuses on how police use social media, made an infographic using BrightEvent s data on how police use Twitter. Social media is the biggest crime source. Posting your crimes is an easy way to get arrested. Teens see these people posting comments about the crimes they committed and it influences them. This is why social media can be a very dangerous place for teens. This all shows that a lot of people are using social media for the wrong reasons and why you should limit your child s Networking time. Now, I ve shown you that media violence causes aggression in children, gangs are using it to promote themselves and announce their next moves and teens are posting their crimes online and getting caught easily; I hope you can be more careful and aware of your surroundings. The Secret Sharer Symbolism Essay The novella, The Secret Sharer, by Joseph Conrad contains many great examples of symbolism, strong and influential thematic elements, and tones of mystery and loneliness. From the beginning of the story, the narrator uses the setting to explain the situation. The narrator illustrates a picture of a captain far away from home with the crew that s not appropriately fond of him. This separation gives the reader an idea of how lonely he is on the ship. The crew dislikes him and feels unsafe around him, this makes it hard for the captain to build a sense of trust and have strong friendships. The crew is very hesitant to do what the captain says to do. The captain is properly stressed by his surroundings, the crew, making his judgment very dicey. In the life of St. Antony, Christian monk from Egypt, there is a story that God, through a vision, showed him the world with the lures and traps that Satan had prepared for human beings. After seeing this, the monk was scared and asked God; Lord, who can escape all of these traps? Antony heard a voice saying, only he who is humble can escape these traps, because God provides his grace to the humble and those who are lowly and meek, but the proud always fall into Satan s traps. But, Satan does not attempt to attack a humble man. This story of St. Antony makes it clear that living the virtue of humility is not only a matter of rejecting the motions of pride, selfishness and vanity, the devil s greatest allies and the sins that are the greatest obstacle to the vocations we have received from the Lord, but living a life that sees power and authority made perfect in weakness. Many times, works of literature reflected these issues that were in society and politics; the issues were usually highlighted to show the results of such a complicated and extensive ideology. One such author that elaborated on this system was Aphra Behn, who wrote Oroonokoin 1688. This was a significant point in time because of how many shifts the 17th century brought to Europe. Not only were there advances in sciences which, in turn, clashed with Christian doctrines that were in place, discoveries of the New World caused various countries to practice new isms. As imperialism and colonialism began to make its mark upon the world, especially in Europe, so did racismand the problems that came with it. Slavery, which would later become tied to racism, had already been a part of society as early as the ancient civilizations. However, people did not feel that slavery was a debatable issue, and it wasn t until later that people began to speak against it. Consequently, writers often used literature as a driving force for either contextualizing or negating such ideas, and Aphra Behn s Oroonoko can be used as an example of this style. The complex story Oroonoko places its focus on the character of a black slave, which is ironic on several different levels. But a crack in the face (Cisneros, 396). This story centers on two characters, Cleofilas and Felice, a Mexican American a strong woman who drives her own truck and isn t married. This is duly noted because it means that she is independent of a man. This is the key difference between Cleofilas and Felice: Felice embraces her freedom as a woman, and can go freely from Mexican and Anglo/American culture. Cleofilas is stuck under the abusive thumb of her husband and struggles to be free behind the fantasies of her novellas. Woman Hollering Creek thus opens up genderdefinitions on all sides to the fluidity of border existence (Wyatt, 244). The story explores both the strained role on Mexican and Chicano women, as well as the freedom that she can experience as a woman as a woman in any place. Woman is newly defined between Felice and Cleofilas, because Cleofilas learns that there is life beyond her abuse and her fantasies. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The History Of The Internet The history of the Internet starts with the making of electronic computers in the 1950 s. After a bunch of rabble The first concepts of the Internet were invented in the 1960 s who saw much use in allowing computers to share information. It was mainly used for scientific and military purposes, research, development, and sorts. J.C.R. Licklider of MIT first suggested the idea of a global network of computers in 1962. He moved to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop the Internet. A while later, the Internet was brought online in 1969, but was previously known as ARPANET. It was done under contract with the renamed Advanced Research Projects Agency. At first, It connected four major computers, which were located in different universities. The mystical Internet was designed to provide a communications network that would still function even if some dominant sites were down. The early Internet was used by computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There were no personal computers back in the day, and everyone who used it had to learn an extremely complex system. Two scores and three years ago, (1972) Email was adapted by Ray Tomlinson. He selected the @ symbol from the available symbols on his teletype to link a username and address. Some time later in the 70 s, the Internet developed further, thanks to TCP/IP architecture initially proposed by Bob Kahn. There were many similarities but just as many differences. The pertinent characters in the book were similar but had dissimilar personalities. The key character, Police Chief Martin Brody, was comparable as he is a family man, loves his job, and gets frustrated when facing the dilemma of locating and destroying the great white shark. • 33. The Constitution and the Separation of Powers One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur. When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This is known as checks and balances. The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power. I thought it would be interesting to share with some of my readers what we have discovered about Tucson as a place for small business and emerging technology businesses. First, it s pretty well known nationally that the city of Tucson, and to some degree Pima County is not very embracing and welcoming when it comes to small business and technology businesses. Much of the blame seems to be around a very welfare centric government, higher than average union memberships, highest sales taxes and property taxes in the state of Arizona and an alarming lack of good leadership. • 37. Homelessness And Homelessness National reports estimate that about two percent of the world s population, are homeless and more than ten times that amount, or twenty percent, may lack suitable housing (Chamie J., 2017). There is a two way relationship between homelessness and mental health, such that the circumstances created by persons mental health problems can cause them to become homeless or homelessness may lead to the development of a mental health problem (Mental Health Foundation, 2015). Shelter is one of the minimum core human rights of an individual (O Hare et al., 2016). Thereby the lack of it is often the main focus when it comes to the problem of homelessness. However, there are other minimum core human rights to consider when it comes to homelessness, which include the right to water, food, sanitation and healthcare (O Hare et al., 2016). All of these minimum core rights, not just shelter, need to be addressed with the problem of homelessness and mental health. I believe the BasicNeeds model, which empowers persons with mental health problems by working with then rather than for them can be used as a human right based approach to dealing with mental health in homeless populations. The factors that lead homelessness are complex with the lack of services and facilities for persons with mental illness being one the contributing factors (Chamie J., 2017). Some people value their education just by donating themselves to the doctors, researchers and others. I think that by doing that can really help other people that need anything from the body like an organ. People even donate it to medicine to see if a treatment may work on it to test it out on other people that are really sick. I believe that people should donate their bodies because it can make a difference in the world. At the same time, it can be a bad thing because you do not have a saying in where your bodyis going to go or in what branch of science your body will land, of course those programs will cremate your body or just return you once they finish with using you and make a funeral without paying a single dime but who would want that? Those are the small things on why people choose not to do it. Some people ask themselves, should I donate my body to science, I say, why not? The human race often wonders about their options to place one s cadaver. In some religious beliefs and traditions, this question is already answered for them. Others without a biblical fall back think, what even happens to the condition of my body when I die? They would start to assess things and look over their options. • 40. Why Funding For Public Education When it comes to education, it is generally agreed that money matters. What is not as apparent are questions like: In what ways does money matter? How does money impact the achievement and opportunities of the students? Are there predictable affects of increasing or decreasing spending in a school system? These questions are important for a number of reasons. Funding for public educationis a limited resource and knowing how to utilize those limited funds efficiently and effectively is a goal schooladministrators seek to achieve. There is also the issue of equality. Since a significant portion of a school s budget is allocated through the local tax base, school districts may have more or less funding available to them depending on which community they are located in. If school spending is tied to student performance or opportunities, and different school systems have different levels of funds available to them, then it can be said that educational opportunities for students will be different depending on which school district they belong to. In an attempt to seek the connections between money and education, I will look at three research papers which investigates this matter. The first paper is The Cost Effectiveness of 22 Approaches for Raising Student Achievement, by Stuart Yeh. This meta study looks at the various methods/interventions employed by school systems to help students raise their level of achievement, its effectiveness and the associated cost of such ... C is an advanced, high level programming language ( Computer languages ) that is used to develop powerful applications for MicrosoftВ® WindowsВ®, many Linux environments, and other well known and widely used operating systems. C is quickly becoming the standard language for commercial software development (Oualline). Algol was most widely used in the academic community, which thusly led to its widespread usage. P: begin integer h, i; real array A[1:5], B[1:5, 1:2]; for i := 1 step 1 until 5 do A[I] := 6 i; h := 1 Loop: if h *= 5 then begin B[h,1] := 1; B[h,2] := 5 + 3 * (h A[h]); h := h + 1; go to Loop end end P (Parsons) The similarity between such modern languages as Pascal and Modula 2 and Algol proves it influential to the programming community, even today. Algol also introduced the concept of free format, a concept that allows programmers to arrange the code any way they want (assuming the syntax is correct) (Parsons). This concept proves itself useful today in making source code easier to read and eliminating the problem of spaghetti code (code written in an unreadable fashion, or strung together as spaghetti is). Simula67 Simula67 was developed by the Norwegian armed forces (Kristen Nygaard and Ole Johan Dahl at the Norwegian Computer Center) and was the first of its kind to use classes (as class is defined by a program unit containing both data and associated functions ) (Overland, 3). Its development was initiated between 1961 and 1967. SIMULA I, appearing first in 1964, was designed as a system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Aztecs settled on marshy land which over time led to crop failure. To fix this, Aztec engineers had to come up with an idea that would let them have success with their crops on the marshy land. They came up with floating gardens that floated over the water and utilized the, otherwise worthless, marshy land. As Lin Donn explains, the rafts were anchored to the bottom of the lake, or to a strong tree in the marsh. The gardens were used to grow chili peppers, corn, tomatoes, beans, and squash (Donn). The floating gardens allowed the Aztec civilization to expand tremendously and accomplish more with the help of this new invention. In addition, they also created a calendar based on the sun, as we still do today. Miguel Leon Portilla states, they had an accurate calendar of years and months based on a complex of days and hours (Leon Portilla, 28). The Aztecs had two calendars, however the three hundred sixty five day was the one used most and was the most common in the society. All in all the Aztecs were advanced in their math and science which helped them to prosper as a civilization. That then helped them develop good relationships with other cultures, helping with their trade and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
