My First Day Of School Essay
Writing an essay about my first day of school presents a unique challenge, primarily because it
requires me to delve deep into my memories and emotions from a significant moment in my past.
Recalling specific details, sensations, and emotions from that day can be both challenging and
rewarding. Additionally, crafting a narrative that effectively conveys the significance of the
experience to the reader while maintaining coherence and structure adds another layer of
complexity.
On a personal level, revisiting my first day of school stirs up a mix of emotions – excitement,
nervousness, curiosity, and perhaps even a hint of apprehension. Capturing these emotions
authentically in writing requires introspection and reflection, which can be both time-consuming
and emotionally draining.
Moreover, the challenge lies not only in recounting the events of the day but also in infusing the
narrative with descriptive language that paints a vivid picture for the reader. Detailing the sights,
sounds, and sensations of that pivotal day requires careful attention to language and sensory
imagery.
Furthermore, structuring the essay in a coherent and engaging manner poses its own set of
challenges. Deciding on the most effective narrative structure, whether chronological, thematic,
or a combination of both, requires thoughtful planning and organization.
Despite these challenges, writing about my first day of school offers an opportunity for self-
discovery and reflection. It allows me to revisit a significant milestone in my life, explore how it
has shaped me, and share those insights with others.
In conclusion, crafting an essay about my first day of school is a complex and introspective
process that requires careful consideration of memories, emotions, language, and structure.
However, it is also a rewarding endeavor that offers a chance for personal growth and self-
expression.

Aztecs Dbq Essay
The Aztecs were a ancient civilization who ruled an empire in the region of
mesoamerica between 1325 A.D and 1521 . From their capital city of tenochtitlan,
presently the site of modern day Mexico City, the Aztecs had many achievements.
Two things they were most know for is Agriculture and Human sacrifice, which
was very unique. However, historians should emphasize the role of Human
Sacrifice in Aztecculture.
It was the Human Sacrifice that led to the Aztecs expanding their empire.
There is a connection between Aztec Agriculture and Human sacrifice. Document

Another reason historians should emphasize human sacrifice is because,
Document A Growth of the Aztec Empire , shows that there is a connection between
the Aztecs territorial expansion, a growing population, and agriculture. The Aztec
empire grew to more than two hundred miles west to east and north to south. As their
empire grew, so did their population. And as their population grew, they had to
sacrifice more people, not only because there was too much people, because they
had to please their gods so they will not destroy the world. This also made a growth
of empire because they didn t only sacrificed people for religious reasons, also they
did it because there is also to many people to conquer in war so they have to
sacrifice, and they make more people. According to document D The scale of
Sacrifice , the people being sacrificed are prisoners taken at Teuclepec. How the
person was sacrificed to the Aztec Gods is that they would first they raised their
hearts to the sun, then throw them into the shrine before the gods. The scale of
human sacrifice is huge , 200 people got sacrificed every single day .
The Effect Of Caffeine On The Heart Rate Of Daphnia
The purpose of this experiment was to see if caffeine had an effect on the heart rate
of Daphnia (water fleas) by observing them under the microscope and recording their
heart rate over a period of time in concentrations of caffeine. Caffeine, which is a
stimulant drug rttused in coffee, tea, Red Bull and Pro plus, causes increased
amounts of stimulatory neurotransmitters to be released. As caffeine is a stimulant, a
prediction was made that caffeine would increase the heart rateof the Daphnia.
Method
To conduct this study a culture of living Daphnia were collected from a nearby
natural water source area.
A light microscope was set up with the light on a low setting; one large Daphnia
was selected and placed in the centre of a cavity slide by using a pipette.
The Daphnia and the cavity in the slide was surrounded by a ring of cotton wool, this
restricted the movement of the Daphnia making it easier to count its heart rate under
the microscope.
No cover slip was used as it would have damaged the water flea and stopped its
oxygen supply. Before placing the slide under the microscope, a tissue was used to
remove the pond water around the Daphnia and with a pipette plain water was added
to the cavity slide.
As soon as the water was added a timer was set for two minutes and the slide was
placed under the microscope.
Steadily adjusting the controls on the microscope the Daphnia was made visible and
the heart was located through its translucent body.

Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie
Queene
Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a
wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia, are
generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine
characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and evil. This
might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either
good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser seems to be
struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman
(Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the feminine viewpoint as
he could easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides
directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your
force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66).
With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself from
Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser
describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, / Through
woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in
control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting women as being
capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident.
Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for
Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive
confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost
completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin
their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the
more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of Una:
A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside,
Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow,
Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide
Under a vele, that wimpled was full
Sociological Perspective
Coming from AJP, I needed to cross Fifth Avenue to start my walk, and like what I
had to do every day when I had class at that building, I found myself once again
waiting for the walk sign to appear across the street. This Sociological Perspective
of seeing society in our everyday lives showed how the smallest personal choices,
even the action of walking, is affected and shaped by society and how it functions.
As I was walking through Fifth Avenue, I noticed that there were buildings at every
corner of this long street. Students, some wearing Carlow gear while others wore
Pitt gear, populated the sidewalks, conversing with other students. As I got farther
into Fifth Avenue, I could see UPMC hospitals and signs with directions of
entrances and parking lots. People populated the end of the sidewalk in this street,
waiting at the Bus Stop sign. In the area of Forbes Avenue, there were a lot of
restaurants, and I noticed many students walking to get in and eat.
The pedestrian traffic was very similar to the automobile traffic on the street.
Through the Sociological Perspective of seeing the general in the particular, I was
able to identify the general patterns of the group of pedestrians walking on the
sides, including myself. There is a systematic way in society that traffic runs, and
as I was walking, I, along with the rest of the pedestrians near me, looked both ways
of the street before crossing at the end of the streets at Forbes. At one point in my
walk near in Forbes,
Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume
Essay
David Hume wrote Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding in 1748, right in the
middle of the Enlightenment and on the eve of the Industrial and Scientific
Revolution. So it only makes sense that some of the ideas and comparisons used are
slightly outdated, but science, if anything, helps his argument regarding causality.
Hume is ultimately concerned with the origins of causality, how we are able to
gain knowledge from causality, and if we can even call the knowledge derived from
causality real knowledge. This is essentially the problem of induction, and is a
central pillar of Hume s overall philosophy. There are some significant objections to
Hume s ideas concerning causality, but they do not hold much clout and are no match
for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it can be asserted that knowledge gained from causality is not a priori,
rather a posteriori, which is knowledge gained from experience and empirical
evidence. One objection to Hume s definition of causality was written by a fellow
(omit) named Thomas Reid. His problem with Hume s definition was that it led to
absurd conclusions. The example Reid uses is one of night and day. Reid asserts
that if one follows Hume s definition of cause, then one can postulate that day is the
cause of night, and night is the cause of day, which goes on forever and is circular.
Thus, by Reid s account, the definition of cause is absurd, and cannot hold (sp) any
value. This cannot be further from the truth. Reid s example is severely (sp)
lacking in rational thinking, but one cannot blame him too much due to the time
period in which he resided. omit in. The fact of the matter is that day is not the
cause of night, nor is night the cause of day. As the Earth rotates on its axis, half of
the Earth is bathed in the Sun s light, while the other half is in darkness. This is
always the case, even as the Earth spins. Thus the Sun is the cause of both day and
night, not day the cause of night and vice versa. Reid s objection now has very little
ground to stand on, and it is made even more apparent when one considers certain
Alaskan towns, which depending on the season, can experience more than 24 hours
of night at a time. It is by
Mary Rowlandson s Captivity
Gods Providence In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, she goes into detail
about her capture and then her later gained freedom. As she tells her story she
explains her feelings towards the Metacomet people and the trials and tribulations she
went through. She speaks with much confidence in God through it all and we get to
see through her, the thought process of a puritan women of that time. Rowlandson
will often times quote the Bible and makes regular mention of Bible stories, which
highlights her complete faith in Godand makes it clear to the reader that that is the
most important thing in her life. It is clear she knows the scripture very well and it
is very close to her heart. Rowlandson believes in something called providence ....

At her darkest and most heart aching moments she finds comfort. Thus saith the
Lord, refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears, for thy work shall
be rewarded, and they shall come again from the land of the enemy (Jeremiah
31.16). Over and over she weeps sweetly as she reads scripture giving her the
strength and encouragement to carry on. Believing whole heartedly in God s
wisdom for her life. At one point in her captivity she finds out that her son is about
a mile away and she is given permission to visit him. But she ends up getting lost
going through rough terrain and comes in contact with all sorts of Indians that
didn t know her. She admires once again the wonderful power and goodness of
God who protected her and brought her back to her master safely. He shows her the
way to her son. She finds her son not well with a boil on his side. They comforted
one another with more scripture but returns feeling just as bad as before she went to
see him and she especially grieves the fact that there was no Christian soul to offer
him help or encouragement. The desire for another Christian soulmate is something
that Rowlandson brings up several times. If only she was going through this with
another Christian so that they could comfort one another and encourage each other.
She even yearns for her son who is so alone with no other Christian friend. The

A Comparison Of The Devil And Tom Walker
In this story The devil and Tom Walker , the narrator tells a story he has heard
about a local man s dealings with the devil, which being Tom Walker, and the devil.
Tom Walker is a fellow that lives near a swamp not far from Boston Massachusetts.
He lives with his wife, both in misery, always arguing, and possibly has domestic
violence. I throw in domestic violence because quoted from the short story, Her voice

signs that their conflicts were not confined to words. basically he being the one to

democrat and republican parties Essay
The Democratic Party at its worst is better for the country than the Republican Party
at its best. This was a statement made by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1955. Lyndon B.
Johnson of course was a Democrat. Is this quote true today? That is a question that
can only be answered after a careful analysis of the philosophy of the Republicanand
Democratic leaders that help to run this nation.
Neither of the two major parties is made up of people who are all of one mind. Each
party is a coalition of many people with diverse interests who come together to get
their candidates elected to public office. (Political Science textbook) If this is the
case, it makes the decision of choosing who is better even harder. An... Show more

Republicans want to limit the number of social programs and encourage the
individual states to be more active in their own social welfare. Democrats feel that
more government is better, where the Republicans feel that the individual states
should have more power. Democrats favor gun control legislation most of the time.
Republicans do not seem as interested in that issue, and many Republicans can be
viewed as pro gun advocates. Democrats favor affirmative action for minorities and
women. Republicans favor helping the entrepreneur and tend to give tax breaks to
big business. Democrats champion the cause of labor unions, while Republicans
realizing that union votes are important, at the same time feel that labor unions have
too much power and cost big business too much money. The next set of political
differences about the issues of capital punishment and abortion rights are quite
paradoxical. Democrats favor a woman s right to choose, at the same time they are
against the death penalty and want to rehabilitate prisoners. Republicans, many of
them are pro life as well as in favor of capital punishment and being tough on crime.
Democrats want the government to be more involved in public education, and want
more money dispersed for student loans. Republicans want the states to take the
responsibility for educating their children and also want to provide vouchers as an
alternative to public school. This issue is also tied to how Republicans are
Is Macbeth Justifiable
In human society, murder is the most barbarous crime any individual can commit.
Society ceases to comprehend what makes an individual think or want to commit
such an appalling act. However, as people in society, the idea of being born a
murderer is false. No one is born a murderer, its society that gives birth to the
murderer. It is the environment surrounding them, the people who influence their
daily lives, or other situations that lead them to do it. In legal terms, a murdermay be
reasonable by surrounding circumstances. Examples of situations include a murder
that is authorized or commanded by law, self defense, accidents, intoxication, and
even insanity. Macbeth in William Shakespeare s play is an ideal example of

but the Aboriginal rights have still continued to be repressed and they are being
treated poorly. Let s take the water issue for Aboriginal people, for now, 80
Aboriginal communities are under, boiled water advisories and 21 of those

only addressed the residential schools and ignored all the times they raided and broke

Can Lean Work for Your Service Oriented Business?
Lean processes have been a part of manufacturing businesses for many years. We have
studied Fords interchangeable parts and Toyota style lean methods in our business
classes and may have embraced much of the terminology in our own companies.
Muda means waste, and there are endless examples of companies that have done
great things to limit or nearly eliminate waste. While it is easy to identify the Lean

In services, Lean must focus on eliminating waste differently than manufacturing.
Minimizing lead times between customer demand and fulfillment can be one of the
ways to reduce waste. The services sector is now moving towards enhancing the
customer experience. With this goal, there should be proper alignment between
efforts to improve operational efficiency and achieving more customer satisfaction.
(Ganapathy, 2015, p. 5).
For years companies have turned to IT (Information Technology) to make things
easier and reduce the waste of paper and human computers. When companies find
themselves regularly maintaining and upgrading their software is there room for
Lean in software development? With business requirements perpetually changing can
a business get to the place where the system is good enough? Cost cutbacks, faster
time to market, improved products and differentiated services are now the essential
pillars in managing any software development process. The shift has been to move
away from the customary Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach to
newer standards that provide higher certainty and decreased risk by ensuring that
business deadlines are met. (Pillai, A., Pundir, A., Ganapathy, L., 2012, p. 107).
As a methodology for waste reduction, one should interpret the Lean concept in the
software context in a more significant way. Non value added activities in a software
environment could be

They say women have been playing football for as long it has existed, evidence

There are many dates estimated recognized as the first matches ever recorded,

Infection Of Salmonella
The Salmonella enterica bacteria is an intestinal infection that is caused by contact
with infected animals or by eating contaminated food. The spread of this infection is
most common in infants, elderly people, or patients whose immune system is weak.
Before an infection of Salmonella can occur, approximately between 100,000 and
100,000,000 Salmonellaenterica bacteriamust be swallowed. Once the bacteria
invades the intestinal wall, inflammation is triggered where they can also produce
irritable intestinal poisons.
After consuming Salmonella, it takes about 8 to 48 hours for symptoms to occur.
The symptoms include fever, chills, abdominal pain, nausea, muscle aches and
vomiting. Patients may recover on their own typically within a few days. Most
people infected typically recuperate in about 5 to 10 days but ... Show more content

However, scientists have discovered that there are actually a total of 3 different
types of Salmonella. According to the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (2016),
Scientists at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Liverpool School of Tropical
Medicine and University of Liverpool found two novel African types, which
looked the same, but were genetically different from the Western type . Salmonella
is referred to as an invasive non typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS) disease when it has
entered the bloodstream. It was estimated that the Salmonella bacteria had caused
680,000 deaths worldwide per year, and half of those being in Africa. The two
newly found Salmonella types are the major causes of blood poisoning leading to
death. Since Salmonella has an easier access from the gut into the bloodstream with
people with weak immune systems, this has affected a high amount of people who
live in Africa. The study also reported that the 2 types of Salmonella found in Africa
have evolved a resistance to antibiotics. Knowing that there is no medicine to cure
this bacteria, it raises public health safety

Animal Testing Research Paper
Solution Paper Rough Draft Practices used by early Greek physician scientists, such
as Aristotle and Erasistratus, are still practiced to this day. One in particular is the use
of animals in experimentation. Times have changed and technology has improved
since they walked this earth. In recent developments, alternative methods for animal
testing have been getting more funding, attention and research done in hopes to
improve the scientific community. Testing on animals comes with many risks such
as missed side effects due to the differences in animal and humanDNA, which leads
to wasted money. It also affects animals; over half of the animals used in animal
experimentation are killed simply for the experimentations sake. Issues like these...

Two of the most studied and popular are phyto testing and vitro testing. In an article
by Ostroumov, He describes the challenges and benefits of both of these methods.
Phyto testing is the testing on plants. There has been research conducted to show that
phyto testing is an accurate method to animal testing. Phyto testing has many
benefits. This method is very cost effective because instead of having to purchase
thousands of lab animals, research facilities will have to purchase thousands of plants
which is more cost effective. Along with this, results are relatively quickly
achievable. Effects on animals my take longer due to their chemical makeup however,
plants are a smaller organism therefore things travel through their systems much
faster. Another great benefit of this method is that it is compliant with bioethics
requirements (because it is a non animal test). Vitro testing is the other welly funded
alternate method. Vitro testing is the study of the cells. This testing method includes
injecting chemicals and diseases into isolated human cells and seeing the effect on
them. The two most studied and funded areas of vitro testing are genotoxicity and
cytotoxicity. Genotoxicity is the ability to see the chemical damage to genetic
material such as DNA. Cytotoxicity surveys the ability to be able to kill cells, this
research is mainly used for cancer

Adult Learning Essay 2
Research Paper: Adult Learning
Education beyond high school, even beyond a Bachelors degree is a critical
requirement to obtain a decent rewarding employment in today s society. However,
many individuals do not graduate high school or college for many reasons:
unexpected pregnancies, lack of family support, need of financial aid, etc. These
individuals who return to some kind of higher education later in life are known as
adult learners, or the non traditional students. Adult learners over age 24 currently
comprise about 44 percent of U.S. postsecondary students. (Kahiz, 2007) These
individuals make up a group of students who differ from traditional students. An adult

Brookfield (1995) states that, adults face moments of transformative breakthrough, of
empowerment, of emancipation and of liberation, what figure equally strongly in
adult students accounts of learning, particularly those focused on critical reflection,
are feelings of impostorship, acknowledgments of a disturbing loss of innocence,
accountings of the cost of committing cultural suicide, descriptions of incrementally
fluctuating rhythms of road running, and recognition of the significance that
membership in an emotionally sustaining learning community has for those in
critical process . These stories are the dark weaknesses of the inspirational rhetoric
of adult learning. Impostorship is the sense that one possesses neither the talent nor
the right to become a college student. (Brookfield, 1999) While these students want
to be in college, they secretly doubt their worthiness to be a college student and a
critical thinker. Brookfield (1995) states that in his research, not all but most adults
felt this sense of impostorship regarding the rightness of their taking critical
perspectives on familiar ideas, actions and social forms. He also mentions that, this
feeling does decrease over time, but it rarely disappears entirely. Brookfield (1999)
also mentions that the moment of public
Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
In the present day and age, a current phenomena with increasing effects on the
Earth is climate change. As a result, massive resource shortages, natural disasters,
an increased likelihood of epidemics and disease outbreaks, as well as negative
impacts on a wide range of socioeconomic factors are expected (Podesta, J., Ogden,
P., 2008). These effects have demonstrated and are continually expected to have the
strongest impact on the disadvantaged in developing regions, namely, sub Saharan
African countries and South Asia, in the future, despite a majority of the
responsibility being credited to developed nations. In fact, between the years of 1850
and 2000, 30 percent of carbon emissions are credited to the United States, 27 percent
is credited to countries in the European Union, and 7 percent to China (Macintyre, J.,
2009).
Firstly, climate change has been concluded to lead to an increased disaster rate.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), coastal
areas, especially heavily populated mega delta regions in South, East, and
Southeast Asia, will be at greatest risk due to increased flooding from the sea and,
in some mega deltas, flooding from the rivers (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008, pg.
117). Such is seen, for example, in Bangladesh, a developing nation in which
residents experience major flooding, which peaked in 2007, consequently, resulting
in a rapid spread of disease, displacement, and a lack of resources (Macintyre, J.,
2009). An increase
The Presidential Election of 1992 Essay
The Presidential Election of 1992
In 1992 the incumbent president George Bush was seeking reelection. It was the
general consensus that he would be the hands down, no contest winner . When the
smoke had cleared and the votes were tallied, many were shocked at the results.
Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton had defeated the incumbent by a landslide! How
could this be? How did the commander and chief of what could be considered the
greatest victory in modern American history defeat the Iraqi army and one year later
lose the election for the presidency? The answers to these questions as well as
explanations for the outcome lie within the campaign strategies and tactics used by
each candidate. There were various major political events and ... Show more content

There were several mistakes that Bush made during his attempts to capture
reelection. During his 1988 election campaign George Bush made a powerful
promise that captured the interest of many. The promise was clear and simple,
read my lips, no new taxes. Many of his supporters held him to this promise. In
June of 1990 the president agreed to a tax increase that was aimed at lowering the
national debt. Most outraged by this were conservative republicans, as a result
they abandoned Bush and granted Perot their support. The mere involvement of
third party candidates has helped shape the outcome in previous presidential
elections. Since 1860 third party candidates have appeared in seven presidential
elections, candidates of the incumbent party have lost six of those (Burnham 1993,
1). Public opinion polls are very important; they provide a general idea of how the
public feels about certain issues. Most candidates campaigning for office know this
and try to address the concerns of the people. Throughout the general election stage
public opinion polls indicated that many Americans didn t approve of how Bush
was handling the economy. The following indicate the percentage that disapproved:
October 1990 55%, March 1991 43% (Gulf War Victory), and in November 1991
66% (Frankovic 1993, 112). Bush knew he couldn t skate around the issue. When he
did address the issue he immediately pointed the finger. Bush claimed that he was

Theaters were being converted to movie houses. This was a move to attract more
middle class customers as well as charge more money given that customers
received a mixture of motion picture and vaudeville. According to Allen, the use of
vaudeville on movie theatre programs was spurred by a shortage of new films,
(11). Going back to charging more money, the vaudeville acts had some problems
such as additional salaries which had to be paid. Ticket sales would decline as
vaudeville acts stretched out as each show was shown. Singer raised an interesting
question on how unpredictable was the nickelodeon business. He used the trade
journal Moving Picture World as a source to note the nickelodeon failures in
Manhattan. Too many people imagine that all they need is money...men who win out
on the policy are few, (27). Many entrepreneurs jumped in unprepared for the
business by selecting poor locations where the target audience was not going to
respond well to. While many people tried to get into the business, many nickelodeons

Originally there were people who wanted a driver s championship, and this did not

Our most recent Formula One cars are designed with a single seat open wheel

In these cases liability is joint as well as several. The other common example of
vicarious liability is the liability of an employer for the torts of his employees
committed in the course of employment. It is not necessary in such circumstances
for the employer to have breached any duty that was owed to the injured party, and
therefore it operates as strict or no fault liability. It is possible that the injured party
could be either an employee or a stranger, and the employer can be held vicariously
liable in both situations. The most important element to establishing a case for
vicarious liability is that the wrongdoer be acting as a servant or employee, and that
the wrong done be connected to the employees course of employment. Vicarious
liability can only be imposed if it is proved that the employee was acting Віin the
course of employment. This criterion is essential, and requires a clear connection
between the employment duties and the employee s acts complained of. A reason
for vicarious responsibility of employers is that employers usually are, while their
servants usually are not, financially capable of the burden of civil liability. The
theory partly owes its existence to the anxiety of the injured person to find a solvent
defendant. Again it is said that the employer must be made liable because it is he who
has set the whole thing in motion.

Women In Sociological Research
Society has its way of creating and enforcing its own norms. Once society creates
an impact, it can be difficult to dispute. Women are seen and made into shopaholics
by the media, and they use a lot of their resources to broadcast their messages to
women. However in my research, I found a glimpse of something different. In Kohl

do for women. This may be a slim margin of 1000 items but it disputes the popular
options on clothing being catered towards women. The messages of shopping may be

roles they are made to fit into, which is a functionalist perspective. These clothes have

Zinc Deficiency Can Cause Damage to the Brain Essay
Introduction
During the past few hundred years, zinc has been known to be the vital mineral
and catalytic of a lot of proteins and a signalling messenger who is released by
neural activity. (choi koh, 1998) Since zinc has been discovered by raulin in 1869
to be needed as a grower of aspergillus niger which is type of fungus and one of the
most common species of the genus aspergillus, this fungus is common contaminant
of food and cause black mould on certain food. Beside the cause of contaminated
food, zinc has been admitted as important for human in modern times.(Prasad, 1984)

development, pregnancy and male reproduction and also will cause anorexia. Aside
from the deficiency, if too much consume of zinc it will induce the toxicity. This

body. (Brycesmith, 1989)
Food Source of Zinc
The distribution of zinc is widely and is typically associated with the protein fraction
and/or nucleic fraction food. Meat (beef, Pork), poultry, organ meats (beef, poultry),
fish and shellfish are rich sources of dietary zinc which also can be found in eggs,
dairy product with lesser amount (shown in table below). Whole grain cereal
especially bran and germ, nuts, seed also legumes have high zinc content, meanwhile
tubers, refined cereals, fruits and vegetable have less. Comparing zinc absorption
between animal source and plant origin on body animal source will have higher
bioavailability then plant origin it because of the fiber and phytates that can inhibit
the zinc uptake by intestine. (Recommended Nutrient Intakes for Malaysia, 2005)
Zinc Interactions, absorptions, distribution, metabolism and excretion
The interaction between zinc and cooper are equally opposed, both are being
interacting in gastreointestinal uptake so it potencially leading to imbalance. It can

A Poison Tree Analysis
Mistakes: An action that is misguided or wrong. Mistakes are made in everyday
life. Mistakes can be anything from keeping in emotions, to how someone handled a
situation. Mistakes aren t made unless someone does something wrong. This idea
can be seen in many pieces of texts including the following poems. A Poison Tree by
William Blake and A total stranger one black day by e.e. cummings both convey the
message that people need to learn to deal with their emotions, otherwise it can lead to
mistakes.
Through A Poison Tree, William Blake conveys that handling emotions
inappropriately leads to mistakes. The use of an extended metaphor expresses this
theme because William Blake compares hatred to a tree. As the poem continues, so
does the growth of the tree, and hatred the subject is feeling. The speaker states, I
told it not, my wrath did grow./And it grew both day and night (Blake 4 and 9). In
this quote, the speaker expresses that he hasn t told the person who he hates, his
feelings, and they continue to grow. His hatred grows more and more as time
passes, just like a tree grows and grows. This compares to a tree because trees start
off as a small seed and they continue to grow into a large tree. The extended
metaphor expresses the theme because the speaker doesn t know how to handle his
emotions, and let s them keep building up which leads to a major mistake in his future
. Another device William Blake uses is an allusion because he is alluding to the
garden of Eden and

Relationship between Sublime and Magical Realism Explored in The Monkey
From the beginning of The Monkey, a short story located within Isak Dinesen s
anthology Seven Gothic Tales, the reader is taken back to a storytime world he or
she may remember from childhood. Dinesen s 1934 example of what has been
identified as the Gothic Sublime sets the stage for analysis of its relationship to other
types of literature. What constitutes Sublime literature? More importantly, how may
sublime literature relate to Magical Realist literature? Through examination of The
Monkey, the relationship between Sublime literature and Magical Realist literature
can be defined.

The use of imagery in The Monkey is employed often. This imagery serves to
suggest lofty ideas, exaltedness, and nobility of spirit. A child had once seen a herd
of unicorns come out of the woods to graze upon the sunny slopes, the white and
dappled mares, rosy in the sun, treading daintily... (Dinesen 121).
In addition to the use of imagery, the use of hyperbole or exaggerated language is
employed. The stones reddened and glowed with it [light] until the whole place
became a mysterious, a glorified, abode, in which the tall windows shone like a row
of evening stars (Dinesen 123). In another example of hyperbole from The Monkey,
King Solomon shut up the most prominent demons of Jewry in bottles, sealed them,
and had them sunk to the bottom of the sea (Dinesen 136).
The use of hyperbole and exaggerated language is extended to emotion. Inanimate
objects and ordinary actions cause emotions in unusual ways. The Prioress was
drunk with some secret joy which remained a mystery to the other convives of her
supper party and which glinted in the dark (Dinesen 143). In another example from
The Monkey, Boris heart leapt up within him and sang aloud, like a bird which
swings itself to the top of a tree and there bursts into song (Dinesen 152 153).
The final characteristic evidenced was a transformation from ordinary into
extraordinary. In Dinensen s The Monkey, the Prioress is transformed:

partnering with MHI, Caterpillar gained a partner that allowed it to navigate the
non market factors in Japan and gain access to the regional market, thus fulfilling its
strategic goal of global expansion. In selecting a partner, Caterpillar was looking for
a Japanese company that shared its cultural values, its conservative approach to
business, and its management style. MHI, under the leadership of Mr. Makita,
demonstrated such shared valued. MHI had expertise in metal work, development of
large scale machinery, and had access to plant capacity. This overlap in technology
and capabilities increased the absorption capacity between the two partners. Further,
the similarities in organizational size, operations, and culture made MHI a good fit
for Caterpillar. Since MHI had no previous experience in development of construction
machinery, it would be dependent on Caterpillar s
Cinderella And Princess Culture In Poniewozik s
Cinderella...
In our society today, it is common perception that every young girl aspires to grow
up and live in a big castle with her true love, otherwise known as Prince Charming.
She wants to look beautiful, feel beautiful, and live happily ever after. Many parents
in recent years are wondering whether or not this is what they should be teaching
their daughters. Should parents be showing their children movies in which only the
prettiest can succeed by finding their true love? In the article Cinderellaand Princess
Culture , the author, Peggy Orenstein, believes that princess culture is detrimental to
young girls. She believes these movies teach all the wrong lessons, like judging
oneself based on looks rather than teaching them to live independently.... Show more

In the articles, The Princess Paradox and Cinderella and Princess Culture, it is
evident that the lessons taught through princess movies are the main discrepancies
between the two authors. The authors both acknowledge that young girls will, at
some point in their lives, aspire to be a princess, and no matter how hard you try to
stop it, it is inevitably going to happen in the end. While Orenstein is aware that
young girls will, sooner or later, see a princess movie and absorb the lessons that it
teaches, she argues that these lessons must be adapted into more valuable ones. On
the other hand, Poniewozik believes that these types of lessons are already being
incorporated into the newer films. Although Orenstein uses personal anecdotes and
her experience as both a mother and a New York Times best selling author to
persuade her point, Poniewozik is very efficient in showing specific examples of
movies with good qualities that make the reader consider his
Analysis Of Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice: Analysis Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice novel is a
humorous portrayal of the social atmosphere and it s principally concerned with
courtship rituals of the English culture of the early 19th century. The beloved love
stories between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy brings awareness to the obstacles
that they must overcome of the social hierarchy within themselves as well as the
outside world. The initial meeting of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet is set in a
public ball. The Bennet family is there to meet the very talked about new tenant,
Mr. Bingley, who is accompanied by his dear friend Mr. Darcy. As the ball
progresses you see the spark between Mr. Bingley and Elizabeth s older sister Jane
progress. The meeting between Darcy and Elizabeth doesn t go as smoothly.
Elizabeth overhears Darcy and Bingley discussing Jane and her beauty, Darcy
offers his opinion of Jane and goes on to describe Elizabeth and is very callous
towards her. Elizabeth becomes taciturn towards Darcy and pays him no thought
other than occasionally handing out a witty comment. At social functions over
subsequent weeks, Darcy finds himself increasingly attracted to Elizabeth, unaware
to her. Jane s friendship with Mr. Bingley also continues to flourish, and Jane pays
a visit to the Bingley mansion. On her journey to the Bingley s she is stuck ill and
must stay until she is well. Elizabeth decides to pay a visit to check on her sister, in
which she is greeted by Darcy and Mr.
Restriction Enzyme Lab Report
Restriction enzymes, also known as restriction endonucleases, are found naturally in
some bacterial cells and are used in a restriction digest to produce smaller fragments
of DNA by cutting the DNA. The enzymes work by cutting sequences on the DNA
that are four to eight base pairs long. Restriction enzymes cut DNAon both strands
and produce either blunt or sticky ends depending if the enzyme cuts right in the
middle of the sequence (blunt end) or if the enzyme cuts and produces overhangs in
the sequence (sticky end). The structure of a restriction enzyme includes subunits that
are identical to one another that form a dimer. They also sit properly on the DNA in
order to change the DNA and cut out the strand containing the sequence of interest....

The restriction enzyme is chosen based on the DNA sequence of interest. The type
of buffer used in a restriction digest depends on the restriction enzyme being used. It
is important to keep all components for the restriction digest in freezing temperatures
until it is time to perform the experiment. The restriction enzyme, plus glycerol to
keep the enzyme from freezing, is stored at freezing temperatures so that denaturing
does not take place. Place all of the components in a tube and use a pipette to ensure
that the components are mixed together. Next, the tube is incubated for an hour at
37o C, or the temperature specified for the restriction enzyme(s). In order to
determine where the enzyme(s) cut on the plasmid and how many times the
enzyme(s) made a cut, gel electrophoresis is employed. Restriction enzymes are
important for many aspects of molecular biology such as cloning and restriction
mapping. The enzymes are also useful since there are a lot of restriction enzymes that
cut the DNA at different locations. The importance of different enzymes cutting
different sites makes it possible for scientists to carry out restriction mapping and
ultimately know the length of the DNA and locations where restriction enzymes cut

Comparison Of Paul Revere s Ride
The two documents Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the
letter from Paul Revere to DR. Jeremy Belknap that was written in 1798. The letter
written for Jeremy Belknap is about Paul Revere s Ride including other people had
warned him about British and that was running from British but after he fled them
woke up a captain and that told almost every house until he got to Lexington.
While the poem Paul Revere s Ride, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is mainly
about how he rode to Lexington warning people it does not include and details or
facts about him running into many British soldiers or being warned by other people
about British soldiers ahead. Next, the two documents Paul Revere s Ride, by
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the letter from Paul Revere to DR. Jeremy
Belknap are similar because both include using lantern as singles. Quotes to support
that that both articles have something in common is from the poem, it states He said
to his friend, If the British march By land or sea from the town to night, Hang a
lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light, One, if by
land, and two, if by sea This quote is important because it support that in the
documents it talks about using lanterns as signals. Another quote that shows the two
documents are similar it states The Sunday before, I agreed with Colonel Conant and
some other gentlemen that if the British went out by water, we would show two
lanterns in the North
Comparing Clothing in Knight s Tale and the Miller s Tale...
One of the striking differences between the Knyghts Tale and the Millers Tale (which
is supposed to quit(e) the Knyghts Tale) is that of clothing (the former tale) and lack
of clothing (in the latter). Upon an inspection of the General Prologue s description
of the Knyght, I found that clothing is a very signifcant part of the Knyght s Tale.
Chaucers decription of him may forshadow (or, since Chaucer wrote the tales after
they were told, color his perceptions of the Knyght) the importance of clothing in the
Knyght s Tale. Special attention is paid to the Knyght s coatof mail.

But this ornament may in fact hinder the tale. When Chaucer began the Tales with the
Knyght s Tale, he was probably quite aware that he was going to borrow heavily from
other tales. ...Scholarship has uncovered and stressed his strong relationship to
conventional rhetoric... (Finlayson 133). Chaucer probably felt as if he was about to
be bound by the fact that he was borrowing from another tale (from Boccaccio s Il
Teseida delle nozze d Emilia), and that he would have to change it to make it his own.
The characters that he uses are bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function
which they fulfil rather than transcend or reject. (Finlayson 147). Chaucer transcends
the Romantic stereotype, but the characters don t. The characters are bound to
convention and the ornament of Romance, much like they are bound by thier clothes
that define them, keep them from true human (flesh) contact, and that ultimately
destroys them.
The first significant mention of clothing is when, after Theseus has conquered
Thebes, the soldiers go through the pile of corpses.

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current
occupational profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes,
work experience and transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily
equate to them both becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based
upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and
standardized testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity
information and the National Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it
pertains to the world of work. Testing materials VRS are qualified to use (if required),
usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic abilities, vocational interest,
work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills analysis is a very
important process that can determine a person s adjusted occupational profile based
upon past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes

occupational profile including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Sandra Bland And The Long History Of Racism
In...
We The People A phrase said by many but what power does it hold? America has
been overcome with division of the people from skin color to sides of citizen and
law enforcement. Issues that occur on the streets of America bring authors to write
articles in hope to sway readers to support their thoughts, but instead lead people to
see the worst in the opposite side. Sandra Bland 28 year old Female African
American, dies in jail after abuse of a policeofficer, officer does not get charged with
as much as people believe and this causes an uprise in articles that are used to give
readers an opinion on the situation. The three sources used in this articles to show
how the author can manipulate the thoughts of the reader start with: source A

He proceeds to explain how because of this the possibility of Officer Encinia (
officer involved with the case) being a racist or having the mindset of a KKK
member is higher than if from a place with little to no history with racism. The history
is especially painful because Waller County was for a time a beacon of black
progress (Long History of Racism). The intended audience are the people who
haven t decided whether they support Sandra Bland or Officer Encinia. An
inexperienced audience would analyze the reading as If the article is either good
or bad instead of credible or not credible. But the last two decades of the century
saw an influx of white immigrants from Eastern Europe, and that dilution of the
black vote, along with the end of Reconstruction, reduced blacks to a minority and
slashed their political power. (Long History of Racism). What makes this article
not credible is the amount of bias used to persuade the reader. Last June, a black
clergyman alleged that Mathis has threatened him over such accusations. (Long
History of Racism) The authors language and how he explains the case is what
causes this article to be not credible and how the author doesn t stay neutral to
explain both sides of the case. Waller County, as Leah Binkovitz notes, had among
the highest numbers of lynchings in the state between 1877 and 1950, according
to a comprehensive report by the Equal Justice Initiative. ( bandwagon). The
fallacy that the author uses causes the reader to see the worst in the law
enforcement as well as having a negative effect on society because it causes people
to see the worst in police officers, and because of this the article is very effective in
getting a non critical reader to be easily persuaded, the critical reader should
Key Health Risks Essay
Avoiding Key Health Mistakes and Risks
Part of getting older is having a deeper understanding of how our health is changing
and how our bodies are shifting. Unfortunately, too many of us are happy to live in
denial and continue the typical blasГ© attitude towards health that we maintained
throughout our 20s and 30s. Luckily, it s never too late to put things right and change
your lifestyle. There are a variety of health risks and mistakes that we tend to be
guilty of, so ensure you don t fall foul of these.
Birth Control
Just because you re in your 40s doesn t mean you can t get pregnant and if that s not
something you want to deal with then you should probably speak to your doctor
about your birth control. Whether you re already on it ... Show more content on

We often miss just how stressful this can be, but in truth it s one of the most stressful
experiences you can imagine. Stress drives us to continue bad habits, so it s vital that
you find healthy ways to manage your stress (through yoga, meditation, and making
time for yourself) instead of turning to smoking, fatty foods, and alcohol.
Lack of Sleep
Sleep is another thing our body desperately needs, and we dismiss. Sure, you can
sleep when you re dead, but you ll probably die much sooner if you don t start
taking it seriously. Aim for at least seven hours every night. You ll notice the
difference, too, you ll find your stress levels lowering and it will become easier to
make the right dietary choices, too. With a reduction in cortisol levels you won t feel
as driven to gorge yourself on unhealthy goods.
Too Much Sitting
Long stretches of sitting aren t good for anyone, so in addition to your 30 minutes of
daily exercise make sure you interrupt your sitting with a short walk or even just
some stretches. This can help fight heart disease, obesity, depression, osteoporosis,
and even cancer.
Smoking Alcohol
We often underestimate the effects that our vices have on our overall health.
Smoking doesn t just affect your lungs or increase your risk factor for cancer it also
ages you prematurely, affects your appetite, ruins your teeth, and affects your bones.
These are all things that are going to become more
Summary Of Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
As people ran out of the church they vomited, screamed and tried to calm their frantic
children. This was the effect of Jonathan Edwards sermon. At the time the Puritan
religion was fading out of existence and there were less people confirming to the
religion. Jonathan Edwards a preacher in the thirteen colonies was radically trying to
revitalize the puritanreligion. In his sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
, Jonathan Edwards uses devices such as imagery, personification, and similes to
get his point across while delivering it in an intimidating and didactic tone in order
to persuade his congregation to repent their sins and confirm their Puritan religion.
Jonathan Edwards used terms that would reach people s emotions or persuade
them with the art of using pathos. Jonathan Edwards starts his sermon exclaiming
to the audience about the dark and fire doom that waits for them. There is the
dreadful Pit of the glowing Flames of the Wrath of God; there is Hell s wide
gaping Mouth open; and you have nothing to stand upon, not any Thing to take
hold of: there is nothing between you and Hell but the Air; tis only the Power and
mere Pleasure of God that holds you up (Edwards 38). Edwards use the
personification of Hell by giving it a mouth the effect this has on the audience makes
them feel small, insignificant worthless, by making it seem like we are merely a
snack on which the devil feasts on. This persuades the audience to join the Puritan
faith by intimidating
Analysis Of Hillbilly Elegy And The Garden Party
A child s family plays a big role in his or her life. Their family may affect the child s
future, but doesn t always have to. Some children choose to break free from their
familial molds to become a better person, and some children do so without realizing
it. In the short story The Garden Party , and the memoir Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir
of a Familyand Culture in Crisis, family plays an important role in the protagonists
lives. The Garden Party , written by Katherine Mansfield, is about an upper class
family throwing a party despite the news of the death of a neighbor. Laura, the
protagonist, feels the need to stop the party as to not be disrespectful, but her family
insists on throwing it. Hillbilly Elegy, written by J.D. Vance, is about the struggles
of the author as he grows up in a lower class hillbilly family, and his journey to break
free of the restraints his heritage has put on him. Both Laura and J.D. have found
fault within their families and wish to be different from them, whether doing so
consciously or not.
Laura, the main character in The Garden Party , finds that she disagrees with some
of her family values, when the news gets out about the death of one of their
neighbors. The day that the story takes place, Laura s family is throwing a huge
garden party to which many guests will attend. Just before the party will begin,
Laura learns that man has died just outside the property. As soon as she hears the
news, Laura wants to stop the party completely, but her family doesn t understand.
Jose! she said, horrified, however are we going to stop everything? / Stop
everything, Laura! cried Jose in astonishment. What do you mean? / Stop the
garden party, of course (6 7). Laura is appalled that a man has just died so close to
where she lives, and her family doesn t seem to be phased. When Laura goes to her
other family members, they brush her off, just as Jose did. The fact that Laura
seems odd to her family about how concerned she is with the dead man, shows
something about their values. The Sheridans are very materialistic people and seem
not to care about those lower in class than they are. To try and distract her daughter
from the news, Mrs. Sheridan gives Laura a hat to wear to the
Eugene Victor Debs Research Paper
It seems our country has always had a want for radicals who are captivating, and
so it would us do well to recall the likes of Eugene Victor Debs. Debs was what
every socialist or revolutionary or activist should be: intense in his principles, as
well as sympathetic and compassionate in his personal relations. Debs looked at the
working class struggle not as a scholar, but instead as one who was directly
entangled he provided assistance by giving a voice to the great effort, or as he told
an assembly of Philadelphia workers, I look into your faces. I catch your spirit. I
am simply the tongue of the working class, making this appeal from the working
class. Debs was clear about which war he was equipped to fight: I am not a capitalist
soldier; I am a proletarian revolutionist.... I am opposed... Show more content on

He embraced trade unionism gradually, and Socialism with even greater hesitation.
As an organizer for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen in the 1870 s, Debs
preached Christian moral inspiration and opposed strikes as a threat to labor
management harmony. Before declaring himself a Socialist in 1897, Debs went
through various ideological incarnations, from Democratic Party politician to free
silver Populist. Debs was a Socialist of a deeply practical bent, who deplored the
insurrectionary rhetoric of the Wobblies and helped build The Socialist Party.
Debs linked the struggle for the people do not wholly ignore industrial democracy
of life. His devotion to the cause was unquestionable, but what began to make Debs
truly memorable was his giving nature, a passion for identifying with the lost, the
desperate, or underprivileged. He became known for simple Christ like acts of
generosity, such as presenting clothes from his own valise to those in need, or
making impulsive gifts of money. While there is a lower class I am in it; while there
is a criminal element I am of it; while there is a soul in prison I am not free. he once
William Faulkner Influence on his Work Essay
The writer and Nobel Prize winner, William Cuthbert Faulkner, was born in New
Albany, Mississippi, on September 25, 1897. Faulkner was the first of four sons
to Murry Cuthbert Falkner and Maud Butler. His family settled in Oxford when he
was about five years old, and Faulkner spends most of his life there. Faulkner was
successful early in his life, but during the fifth grade he lost interest in school and
started missing classes. He did not graduate from high school, and later on he was
able to go to the University of Mississippi in Oxford, but dropped out after three
semesters. He is known as one of the most famous Southern literature writers, mostly
for his novels and poetry. William Faulkners literary career was influenced by... Show

valued their community and took it for a granted accomplishment to attend a
funeral and help in need. Theses Southern culture and values influenced some of
Faulkner s work. Also, Faulkner represents the old southern values through his
story A Rose for Emily, when Emily starts seeing Homer Barron. The author
Thomas Dilworth refers in his journal A Romance to Kill for: Homicidal
Complicity in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily , By entering a love affair with Homer
Barron, Emily briefly rebelled against southern values and then, by ending her
affair with him, at least as far the townspeople were concerned, she conformed
against those values (Dilworth). The older townspeople believed that Emily forgot
her noblesse oblige . They disliked Barron because he was a Northerner Yankee .
Faulkner s own Southern culture and value are present in his story. Dilworth also
describes in his journal that the narrator, ... implies his own and his society s
cultural values which influence attitudes and behavior toward Emily in a way that
implicates him and the townspeople in her fate (Dilworth). Faulkner is describing
his own privet love story thorough Emily s love for Barron. When Faulkner fall in
love Estella Oldhams, her parents a banded their relationship and made Estella marry
someone else. In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner wrote that Emily was prepared to get
married, but Barron Faulkner states,
Chinese Culture And Western Culture In Child Rearing
Introduction
Culture is a set of values that are ingrained in human beings from birth. They define
our actions, our view of what is good, fair, and just, and shape the way we live our
lives. The definition of cross cultural values and beliefs is that of where people from
different countries or regions interact, bringing their different values, viewpoints, and
practices unique to their culture (Dictionary, 2017). In this literature review, we will
analyze the differences between Chinese and Western culture in child rearing, with a
focus on the impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts,
how children accommodate or resist those socialization efforts, and finally, we will
discuss the implications for parents and teachers.
Socializing behavior is defined as behavior enacted towards children, or in the
presence of children, to induce or shape their behavior or understanding of behavior
(LeCuyer Zhang, 2015).
The impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts
The Chinese culture is known for its collectivism with focus on group success over
personal success, and hierarchal authority where children are expected to obey
parents, teachers, and other authorities in power. This style is characterized by
attempts to shape and control the child according to absolute standards, with a high
value of obedience to authoritative figures (Lieber, Fung, Wing Leung Leung, 2006).
Chinese people, in general, are more willing to
Major Types Of Major Depressive Disorder
Major depressive disorder is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and
persistent low mood that is accompanied by low self esteem and by a loss of
interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. The term depression is used in
a number of different ways. It is often used to mean this syndrome but may refer to
other mood disorders or simply to a low mood. Major depressive disorderis a
disabling condition that adversely affects a person s family, work or school life,
sleeping and eating habits, and general health. In the United States, around 3.4% of
people with major depression commit suicide, and up to 60% of people who commit
suicide had depression or another mood disorder. Suicide is characterized by a few

It is unclear whether medications affect the risk of suicide. Current and former
patients may be stigmatized.
The understanding of the nature and causes of depression has evolved over the
centuries, though this understanding is incomplete and has left many aspects of
depression as the subject of discussion and research. Proposed causes include
psychological, psycho social, hereditary, evolutionary and biological factors. Long
term substance abuse may cause or worsen depressive symptoms. Psychological
treatments are based on theories of personality, interpersonal communication, and
learning. Most biological theories focus on the monoamine chemicals serotonin,
norepinephrine and dopamine, which are naturally present in the brain and assist
communication between nerve cells. This cluster of symptoms was named,
described and classified as one of the mood disorders in the 1980 edition of the
American Psychiatric Association s diagnostic manual. Major depression
significantly affects a person s family and personal relationships, work or school life,
sleeping and eating habits, and general health. Its impact on functioning and well
being has been compared to that of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes.
A person having a major depressive episode usually exhibits a very low mood, which
pervades all aspects of life, and an inability to experience pleasure in activities that
were formerly enjoyed. Depressed people may be
Portraiture Depictions Of Queen Elizabeth I
Portraiture Depictions of Queen Elizabeth I Elizabeth Tudor or Queen Elizabeth I
was and is one of the greatest monarchs in English history. Obtaining the crown at a
young age of twenty five, she seized a bankrupt country caused by previous rulers,
a country with an unstable religion, and loose ties with other great powers of the
world. Elizabeth I ruled for nearly half a century granting her the remembrance
with reigning with stability, the flourishment of the arts, and increased trade.
Elizabeth s sense of duty to her people was very admirable and that is one the
reasons that makes her such a great monarch. She was committed to her people and
never swayed from doing such that. In saying that, one of the ways people showed
their love and to show her greatness it was represented in portraits. Portraiture of
Queen Elizabeth I illustrates an evolution of her reign over England and Ireland in
the years of 1558 1603. Early portraits of young Elizabeth showcase what is going
on her life or what is important to her at that specific time. Objects such as prayer
books and status clothing would be displayed in the earlier portraits. Later portraits
of Elizabeth also showcase her life and the importance of virginity, purity, crowns,
and other effects. Representations of simplicity to later complex imagery are used to
exhibit her power as well as allusions or stories to convey the Elizabeth.
Progressively, Elizabeth transformed into the goddess Gloriana, engrossed in imperial

My First Day Of School Essay. . My First Day At School Essay-For all level students Ontaheen

  • 1. My First Day Of School Essay Writing an essay about my first day of school presents a unique challenge, primarily because it requires me to delve deep into my memories and emotions from a significant moment in my past. Recalling specific details, sensations, and emotions from that day can be both challenging and rewarding. Additionally, crafting a narrative that effectively conveys the significance of the experience to the reader while maintaining coherence and structure adds another layer of complexity. On a personal level, revisiting my first day of school stirs up a mix of emotions – excitement, nervousness, curiosity, and perhaps even a hint of apprehension. Capturing these emotions authentically in writing requires introspection and reflection, which can be both time-consuming and emotionally draining. Moreover, the challenge lies not only in recounting the events of the day but also in infusing the narrative with descriptive language that paints a vivid picture for the reader. Detailing the sights, sounds, and sensations of that pivotal day requires careful attention to language and sensory imagery. Furthermore, structuring the essay in a coherent and engaging manner poses its own set of challenges. Deciding on the most effective narrative structure, whether chronological, thematic, or a combination of both, requires thoughtful planning and organization. Despite these challenges, writing about my first day of school offers an opportunity for self- discovery and reflection. It allows me to revisit a significant milestone in my life, explore how it has shaped me, and share those insights with others. In conclusion, crafting an essay about my first day of school is a complex and introspective process that requires careful consideration of memories, emotions, language, and structure. However, it is also a rewarding endeavor that offers a chance for personal growth and self- expression. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. Aztecs Dbq Essay The Aztecs were a ancient civilization who ruled an empire in the region of mesoamerica between 1325 A.D and 1521 . From their capital city of tenochtitlan, presently the site of modern day Mexico City, the Aztecs had many achievements. Two things they were most know for is Agriculture and Human sacriп¬Ѓce, which was very unique. However, historians should emphasize the role of Human Sacriп¬Ѓce in Aztecculture.оЁЂ оЁЂIt was the Human Sacriп¬Ѓce that led to the Aztecs expanding their empire. There is a connection between Aztec Agriculture and Human sacriп¬Ѓce. Document A Growth of the Aztec Empire , states that the Aztecs empire grew, they purposely left territories alone the use of flower wars to capture sacriп¬Ѓcial victims. This meant that the Aztecs were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason historians should emphasize human sacriп¬Ѓce is because, Document A Growth of the Aztec Empire , shows that there is a connection between the Aztecs territorial expansion, a growing population, and agriculture. The Aztec empire grew to more than two hundred miles west to east and north to south. As their empire grew, so did their population. And as their population grew, they had to sacriп¬Ѓce more people, not only because there was too much people, because they had to please their gods so they will not destroy the world. This also made a growth of empire because they didn t only sacriп¬Ѓced people for religious reasons, also they did it because there is also to many people to conquer in war so they have to sacriп¬Ѓce, and they make more people. According to document D The scale of Sacriп¬Ѓce , the people being sacriп¬Ѓced are prisoners taken at Teuclepec. How the person was sacriп¬Ѓced to the Aztec Gods is that they would п¬Ѓrst they raised their hearts to the sun, then throw them into the shrine before the gods. The scale of human sacriп¬Ѓce is huge , 200 people got sacriп¬Ѓced every single day .
  • 3. The Effect Of Caffeine On The Heart Rate Of Daphnia The purpose of this experiment was to see if caffeine had an effect on the heart rate of Daphnia (water fleas) by observing them under the microscope and recording their heart rate over a period of time in concentrations of caffeine. Caffeine, which is a stimulant drug rttused in coffee, tea, Red Bull and Pro plus, causes increased amounts of stimulatory neurotransmitters to be released. As caffeine is a stimulant, a prediction was made that caffeine would increase the heart rateof the Daphnia. Method To conduct this study a culture of living Daphnia were collected from a nearby natural water source area. A light microscope was set up with the light on a low setting; one large Daphnia was selected and placed in the centre of a cavity slide by using a pipette. The Daphnia and the cavity in the slide was surrounded by a ring of cotton wool, this restricted the movement of the Daphnia making it easier to count its heart rate under the microscope. No cover slip was used as it would have damaged the water flea and stopped its oxygen supply. Before placing the slide under the microscope, a tissue was used to remove the pond water around the Daphnia and with a pipette plain water was added to the cavity slide. As soon as the water was added a timer was set for two minutes and the slide was placed under the microscope. Steadily adjusting the controls on the microscope the Daphnia was made visible and the heart was located through its translucent body. As soon as the two
  • 4. Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia, are generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and evil. This might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser seems to be struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman (Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the feminine viewpoint as he could easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66). With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself from Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, / Through woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting women as being capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident. Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of Una: A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside, Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow, Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide Under a vele, that wimpled was full
  • 5. Sociological Perspective Coming from AJP, I needed to cross Fifth Avenue to start my walk, and like what I had to do every day when I had class at that building, I found myself once again waiting for the walk sign to appear across the street. This Sociological Perspective of seeing society in our everyday lives showed how the smallest personal choices, even the action of walking, is affected and shaped by society and how it functions. As I was walking through Fifth Avenue, I noticed that there were buildings at every corner of this long street. Students, some wearing Carlow gear while others wore Pitt gear, populated the sidewalks, conversing with other students. As I got farther into Fifth Avenue, I could see UPMC hospitals and signs with directions of entrances and parking lots. People populated the end of the sidewalk in this street, waiting at the Bus Stop sign. In the area of Forbes Avenue, there were a lot of restaurants, and I noticed many students walking to get in and eat. The pedestrian traffic was very similar to the automobile traffic on the street. Through the Sociological Perspective of seeing the general in the particular, I was able to identify the general patterns of the group of pedestrians walking on the sides, including myself. There is a systematic way in society that traffic runs, and as I was walking, I, along with the rest of the pedestrians near me, looked both ways of the street before crossing at the end of the streets at Forbes. At one point in my walk near in Forbes,
  • 6. Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume Essay David Hume wrote Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding in 1748, right in the middle of the Enlightenment and on the eve of the Industrial and Scientific Revolution. So it only makes sense that some of the ideas and comparisons used are slightly outdated, but science, if anything, helps his argument regarding causality. Hume is ultimately concerned with the origins of causality, how we are able to gain knowledge from causality, and if we can even call the knowledge derived from causality real knowledge. This is essentially the problem of induction, and is a central pillar of Hume s overall philosophy. There are some significant objections to Hume s ideas concerning causality, but they do not hold much clout and are no match for his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it can be asserted that knowledge gained from causality is not a priori, rather a posteriori, which is knowledge gained from experience and empirical evidence. One objection to Hume s definition of causality was written by a fellow (omit) named Thomas Reid. His problem with Hume s definition was that it led to absurd conclusions. The example Reid uses is one of night and day. Reid asserts that if one follows Hume s definition of cause, then one can postulate that day is the cause of night, and night is the cause of day, which goes on forever and is circular. Thus, by Reid s account, the definition of cause is absurd, and cannot hold (sp) any value. This cannot be further from the truth. Reid s example is severely (sp) lacking in rational thinking, but one cannot blame him too much due to the time period in which he resided. omit in. The fact of the matter is that day is not the cause of night, nor is night the cause of day. As the Earth rotates on its axis, half of the Earth is bathed in the Sun s light, while the other half is in darkness. This is always the case, even as the Earth spins. Thus the Sun is the cause of both day and night, not day the cause of night and vice versa. Reid s objection now has very little ground to stand on, and it is made even more apparent when one considers certain Alaskan towns, which depending on the season, can experience more than 24 hours of night at a time. It is by
  • 7. Mary Rowlandson s Captivity Gods Providence In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, she goes into detail about her capture and then her later gained freedom. As she tells her story she explains her feelings towards the Metacomet people and the trials and tribulations she went through. She speaks with much confidence in God through it all and we get to see through her, the thought process of a puritan women of that time. Rowlandson will often times quote the Bible and makes regular mention of Bible stories, which highlights her complete faith in Godand makes it clear to the reader that that is the most important thing in her life. It is clear she knows the scripture very well and it is very close to her heart. Rowlandson believes in something called providence .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At her darkest and most heart aching moments she finds comfort. Thus saith the Lord, refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears, for thy work shall be rewarded, and they shall come again from the land of the enemy (Jeremiah 31.16). Over and over she weeps sweetly as she reads scripture giving her the strength and encouragement to carry on. Believing whole heartedly in God s wisdom for her life. At one point in her captivity she finds out that her son is about a mile away and she is given permission to visit him. But she ends up getting lost going through rough terrain and comes in contact with all sorts of Indians that didn t know her. She admires once again the wonderful power and goodness of God who protected her and brought her back to her master safely. He shows her the way to her son. She finds her son not well with a boil on his side. They comforted one another with more scripture but returns feeling just as bad as before she went to see him and she especially grieves the fact that there was no Christian soul to offer him help or encouragement. The desire for another Christian soulmate is something that Rowlandson brings up several times. If only she was going through this with another Christian so that they could comfort one another and encourage each other. She even yearns for her son who is so alone with no other Christian friend. The communion of saints is

A Comparison Of The Devil And Tom Walker In this story The devil and Tom Walker , the narrator tells a story he has heard about a local man s dealings with the devil, which being Tom Walker, and the devil. Tom Walker is a fellow that lives near a swamp not far from Boston Massachusetts. He lives with his wife, both in misery, always arguing, and possibly has domestic violence. I throw in domestic violence because quoted from the short story, Her voice was often heard in wordy warfare with her husband; and his face sometimes showed signs that their conflicts were not confined to words. basically he being the one to take the grunt of the relationship. But one day, he decides to be distant from the neighborhood and decides to take what he calls a shortcut back to home, but through the swamps. The route he decided to take was very grown, and had very many animals like tadpoles, snakes. • 9. democrat and republican parties Essay The Democratic Party at its worst is better for the country than the Republican Party at its best. This was a statement made by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1955. Minimizing lead times between customer demand and fulfillment can be one of the ways to reduce waste. The services sector is now moving towards enhancing the customer experience. With this goal, there should be proper alignment between efforts to improve operational efficiency and achieving more customer satisfaction. (Ganapathy, 2015, p. 5). When companies find themselves regularly maintaining and upgrading their software is there room for Lean in software development? With business requirements perpetually changing can a business get to the place where the system is good enough? Cost cutbacks, faster time to market, improved products and differentiated services are now the essential pillars in managing any software development process. The shift has been to move away from the customary Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach to newer standards that provide higher certainty and decreased risk by ensuring that business deadlines are met. This method is very cost effective because instead of having to purchase thousands of lab animals, research facilities will have to purchase thousands of plants which is more cost effective. Along with this, results are relatively quickly achievable. Effects on animals my take longer due to their chemical makeup however, plants are a smaller organism therefore things travel through their systems much faster. Another great benefit of this method is that it is compliant with bioethics requirements (because it is a non animal test). Vitro testing is the other welly funded alternate method. Vitro testing is the study of the cells. This testing method includes injecting chemicals and diseases into isolated human cells and seeing the effect on them. As a result, massive resource shortages, natural disasters, an increased likelihood of epidemics and disease outbreaks, as well as negative impacts on a wide range of socioeconomic factors are expected (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008). These effects have demonstrated and are continually expected to have the strongest impact on the disadvantaged in developing regions, namely, sub Saharan African countries and South Asia, in the future, despite a majority of the responsibility being credited to developed nations. In fact, between the years of 1850 and 2000, 30 percent of carbon emissions are credited to the United States, 27 percent is credited to countries in the European Union, and 7 percent to China (Macintyre, J., 2009). Firstly, climate change has been concluded to lead to an increased disaster rate. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), coastal areas, especially heavily populated mega delta regions in South, East, and Southeast Asia, will be at greatest risk due to increased flooding from the sea and, in some mega deltas, flooding from the rivers (Podesta, J., Ogden, P., 2008, pg. 117). Most outraged by this were conservative republicans, as a result they abandoned Bush and granted Perot their support. The mere involvement of third party candidates has helped shape the outcome in previous presidential elections. Since 1860 third party candidates have appeared in seven presidential elections, candidates of the incumbent party have lost six of those (Burnham 1993, 1). The other common example of vicarious liability is the liability of an employer for the torts of his employees committed in the course of employment. It is not necessary in such circumstances for the employer to have breached any duty that was owed to the injured party, and therefore it operates as strict or no fault liability. It is possible that the injured party could be either an employee or a stranger, and the employer can be held vicariously liable in both situations. The most important element to establishing a case for vicarious liability is that the wrongdoer be acting as a servant or employee, and that the wrong done be connected to the employees course of employment. Vicarious liability can only be imposed if it is proved that the employee was acting Віin the course of employment. This criterion is essential, and requires a clear connection between the employment duties and the employee s acts complained of. A reason for vicarious responsibility of employers is that employers usually are, while their servants usually are not, financially capable of the burden of civil liability. The theory partly owes its existence to the anxiety of the injured person to find a solvent defendant. Again it is said that the employer must be made liable because it is he who has set the whole thing in motion. TYPES OF LIABITIES Liability by

Mistakes can be anything from keeping in emotions, to how someone handled a situation. Mistakes aren t made unless someone does something wrong. This idea can be seen in many pieces of texts including the following poems. A Poison Tree by William Blake and A total stranger one black day by e.e. cummings both convey the message that people need to learn to deal with their emotions, otherwise it can lead to mistakes. Through A Poison Tree, William Blake conveys that handling emotions inappropriately leads to mistakes. The use of an extended metaphor expresses this theme because William Blake compares hatred to a tree. As the poem continues, so does the growth of the tree, and hatred the subject is feeling. The speaker states, I told it not, my wrath did grow./And it grew both day and night (Blake 4 and 9). In this quote, the speaker expresses that he hasn t told the person who he hates, his feelings, and they continue to grow. His hatred grows more and more as time passes, just like a tree grows and grows. This compares to a tree because trees start off as a small seed and they continue to grow into a large tree. The extended metaphor expresses the theme because the speaker doesn t know how to handle his emotions, and let s them keep building up which leads to a major mistake in his future . Another device William Blake uses is an allusion because he is alluding to the garden of Eden and

In addition to the use of imagery, the use of hyperbole or exaggerated language is employed. The stones reddened and glowed with it [light] until the whole place became a mysterious, a glorified, abode, in which the tall windows shone like a row of evening stars (Dinesen 123). In another example of hyperbole from The Monkey, King Solomon shut up the most prominent demons of Jewry in bottles, sealed them, and had them sunk to the bottom of the sea (Dinesen 136). The use of hyperbole and exaggerated language is extended to emotion. Inanimate objects and ordinary actions cause emotions in unusual ways. The Prioress was drunk with some secret joy which remained a mystery to the other convives of her supper party and which glinted in the dark (Dinesen 143). In another example from The Monkey, Boris heart leapt up within him and sang aloud, like a bird which swings itself to the top of a tree and there bursts into song (Dinesen 152 153). • 39. Restriction Enzyme Lab Report Restriction enzymes, also known as restriction endonucleases, are found naturally in some bacterial cells and are used in a restriction digest to produce smaller fragments of DNA by cutting the DNA. The enzymes work by cutting sequences on the DNA that are four to eight base pairs long. Restriction enzymes cut DNAon both strands and produce either blunt or sticky ends depending if the enzyme cuts right in the middle of the sequence (blunt end) or if the enzyme cuts and produces overhangs in the sequence (sticky end). The structure of a restriction enzyme includes subunits that are identical to one another that form a dimer. They also sit properly on the DNA in order to change the DNA and cut out the strand containing the sequence of interest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The restriction enzyme is chosen based on the DNA sequence of interest. The type of buffer used in a restriction digest depends on the restriction enzyme being used. It is important to keep all components for the restriction digest in freezing temperatures until it is time to perform the experiment. The restriction enzyme, plus glycerol to keep the enzyme from freezing, is stored at freezing temperatures so that denaturing does not take place. Place all of the components in a tube and use a pipette to ensure that the components are mixed together. Next, the tube is incubated for an hour at 37o C, or the temperature specified for the restriction enzyme(s). In order to determine where the enzyme(s) cut on the plasmid and how many times the enzyme(s) made a cut, gel electrophoresis is employed. Restriction enzymes are important for many aspects of molecular biology such as cloning and restriction mapping. The enzymes are also useful since there are a lot of restriction enzymes that cut the DNA at different locations. The importance of different enzymes cutting different sites makes it possible for scientists to carry out restriction mapping and ultimately know the length of the DNA and locations where restriction enzymes cut on the
