There are around 4,642 animators in England. They earn around £35,207 per year but can also earn up to £63,970 a year. Around
46% of animatiors are directed straight after education. About 60% of animators on the media industry are male. 56% of jobs in
animation are located in London although around 18% are also located in South West England. Some skills you will need to
become a 2D drawing animator are: have artistic qualities and expertise in animation, patience, communiction, teamwork,
attention to detail, organised and can take direction. The best way in is to start of as a junior animator or animators appentice.
Their is a 26% skill shortage in animators in the animation industry at the moment and an 18% gap in art and design. 31% of
students who animate, computer animate, 3D or electronically image ended up getting a job as an animator. When animating the
work is often shared across many seperate people somtimes in other countries or even other continents. Animation is a global
process and has a lot of time and effort put into it as the animator themselves must have a lot of patience and skill to pull off
certain types of animation. The American animation industry has a lot more global recognition than the UK industry. This means
that many European animators are looking for jobs in major American animation industrys. If your trying to get into the industry
one option is to make an online portfolio containing all of your best pieces of work. It will be ood to accept constructive criticism
from people your level or above as it may help you improve your work. Other good ways to get into the industry are rom getting
a mentor and also being patient because not only is animation a long process but so is getting into the industry. To get a shot at a
job in the industry you will need a Bachelor’s Degree standard in Computer animation, Fine arts or Graphic design. Common
courses students who want to get into animation take are Animation techniques: Animation writing, Animation history,
International cinema, Visual effects and Figure drawing. Some of the career options after these courses are: Illustrators Game
artists, Multimedia artists, Production designers or Character animators. The workforce increased by 53% between 2004 and
2012.

Client research:
Irn-Bru use comedy as the main focus of their adverts. The humor is on so edge and risky that it gets recognized around the
world and in the news a lot of the time. This gives Irn-Bru a lot of attention and recognition meaning that it will get a larger
audience and more people will want to buy the drink. Irn-Bru have said that they recognize that the youth of today want to
have a little more fun in this serious world and ”be a bit less adult” and they believe their adverts provide that. This is what
the are hoping will sell their product.
Some other advertising campaigns use controversial subjects such
as Pepsi who had a black lives matter advert which got a lot of
attention in the media and it also contained the celebrity, Kendal
Jenner. This gave her a lot of backlash but also to Pepsi. On the
other hand it gave both the company and Kendall a lot of
attention and exposure.
Client research:
Barr also are the owners of many other famous drinks in the UK such as Dandelion and Burdock and many strange flavored
drinks such as limeade, cream soda and appleade. They also own two different ginger beer companies. Many of these drinks
are sold in smaller shops and sweet shops. They are quite successful in England but are not as big in America. AG Barr’s
revenue is 257.1 Million and they have around 1,001 workers. They have 10 factory's around the UK and no others
worldwide. They are based in Scotland and all of their adverts even the non Irn-Bru ones all contain Scottish actors and
voice actors. This gives it a bigger market in Scotland but not as big globally, although it does have quite a large market in
the UK as a whole. For the Irn-Bru franchise Barr have run competitions with hidden tickets on the inside of packaging which
can result in winning a holiday aboard meaning more people will like to buy their products to have a chance of winning.

Irn-Bru use linear structures in most of their adverts which makes them make more sense and easier to understand
because some of them are quite strange or unrealistic. Although some may seem unrealistic and not able to happen
almost all of their adverts are realistic and have situations that could happen to you. Most of the situations in their adverts
are embarrassing meaning people will want to buy the products to avoid the situations in the adverts. Irn-Bru have also
made a Christmas parody advert of the short film “The Snowman”. The lyrics of the classic song ”Walking in the air” have
been changed to suit Irn-Bru and they also have funny lines to make the audience remember them. They have also
changed the video to have a small Scottish ginger boy with an Irn-Bru in their hand. Also the boy has a Scottish accent.

Irn-Bru have an advert which contains older people saying that they are trying the new Fiery Irn-Bru from their grandson.
When they take a sip of it they say the first half of a word such as ar… or bast... And then it cuts to a new clip. But the
new clip will start with another old woman saying a word that sounds like the second half of the other one. For egsample
one says ”ooh y bast...” and the other after the cut says “hard” as soon as it cuts. This is a joke once again for older
people as it almost uses rude language and many younger kids or viewers may not understad it. They use edgy
controversial humor like this so that the audience that see the adverts ill remember and tell their friends. It may also
resch the news as some of the adverts have done. This brings more attentions to the brand and also more exposure.

Most of Irn-Bru’s marketing is based around Scotland or have a Scottish actor in them as the main roles. This makes sense
as Irn-Bru is a drink created in Scotland and it is also the biggest fizzy drink in Scotland. Also Irn-Bru’s whole logo and
style is based on Scotland and the Scottish games. Many other companies such as Pepsi and Coca Cola have to find other
ways to advertise because loads of fizzy drinks are made in America, whereas Irn-Bru is the only well known fizzy drink
from Scotland. This is why they play it to their advantage and it is a good method and has helped get the drink more
worldwide than just Scotland.

Irn-Bru is at competition with most other fizzy drinks such as Pepsi and Coca Cola. Many reasons they are competitors is
because they all aim for the same audience and all are large successful businesses. The way that they advertise has to be
different than the other big brands as hey are all competing for the top slot. The Coca Cola adverts use linear structure
and very realistic situations. They also don’t use comedy as much as Irn-Bru. This means that it will still appeal to the
same audience but not as well because Irn-Bru uses the reward trick which means if you buy it you will be able to get out
of the tricky situations as shown in the adverts. Also many Coca Cola adverts use a man who attracts others to want to
give him a Coca Cola which usually works out in the end. This means that some viewers will believe that if they by the
product the will get the girl or guy in the end. Many Pepsi adverts use current problems such as black lives matter which
brings a sense of realism but then the way hey show the product by stopping the whole riot is quite unrealistic. Many of
the Pepsi adverts contain celebrity endorsement such as Michael Jackson and Kendall Jenner, this means fans of these
two celebrities will be more attracted to the product and therefore have an increased chance of buying it.
The reason Irn-Bru is different is because it uses comedy as its main feature of attraction and it also helps you remember
and share the advert if it is funny. Their weird and edgy ideas make them stand out from the crowd which is what makes
their advertisement campaign work and thrive. All of the sound effects and features are realistic and are not over the
top. There is barely any music in the adverts except for if there is music playing quietly in the background from a radio or
a TV in the actual advert.

Irn-Bru uses comedy as one of its main ways to attract an audience it is aiming for which seems to be a younger one. The
comedy is close to the line but doesn't’t go over it meaning it can make people laugh and still not get banned. This
attracts with a younger audience because it is silly humor which is easier to understand.
Most of the Irn-Bru adverts have a linear narrative which mean its easy to understand. Many of the adverts are realistic
meaning its easier to relate to or realistic in the sense that it could happen but hopefully wont. The concept for many of
the adverts is that the Irn-Bru can get you out of an awkward situation which has happened to most people meaning it
will make you want to buy one to avoid situations like those shown in the adverts. Some of the adverts are less realistic
which could be used to add to the comedy value of the advert. In the Irn-Bru adverts they use family's which the
audience can relate to as they use regular family's like most peoples. Also the situations are all ones that could happen
meaning the audience will fear one happening to them and buy the drink.
Audience research:
Irn-Bru are trying to sell their drinks to an audience of around 14+ but I'm sure that people under that age will still consume
their products. Some of the humor from the advertising campaigns are made for quite mature audiences as in one
particular advert, the Scottish accent makes the word “can’t” sound inappropriate which is the whole point of the joke. A
joke with a play on words like this may go over most of the younger viewers heads but will make maybe a slightly older
audience laugh. Another one of the jokes a younger audience may understand is the advert where a boys mum tries on a
new bra and his friends cant keep their eyes off it. This may go over younger viewers heads but once again anyone around
the age of 15 or over would probably get the joke. Also at the end of the advert there are two balloons say ”Irn-Bru gets
you through” which is the company's slogan.

Idea Generation:
1) There are two people having a rap battle in front of a crowd in the streets. One is getting beat until his friend throws
him an Irn-Bru and then he starts to win. He then does something embarrassing and takes another drink to come back
victorious. Title screen rolls and advertises Irn-Bru.
The advert has the same context as many of the other Irn-Bru adverts where they are in an awkward situation and then
drink the Irn-Bru and end up on top of the situation.
2) Few men fishing in the Loch Ness and they hook an Irn-Bru. They drink it and then catch the Loch Ness Monster. The
Irn-Bru title screen plays and the Loch Ness Monster holds up the Irn-Bru with his tail.
This may contain a bit of animation for the monster but one Irn-Bru advert has used animation in the past so it
wouldn't’t seem abnormal.
3) Mum has a personal yoga coach who's hitting on main characters mum. He drinks Irn-Bru but then the flirting gets
more intense so he drinks more. The title sequence plays with the mum squatting and the trainer making flirty remarks
as the Irn-Bru is advertises over the top.
This uses edgy humor such as some of the other adverts, this makes the adverts easier to remember.
4) Youth boy is walking down chavy streets and he sees a Scottish chav (AKA Ned) he’s scared so drinks Irn-Bru. He walks
past him and he says something and he drinks more he has a witty response and the title scenes roll over him being
beaten up off screen.
Idea Generation:
5) Man goes for haircut but then it goes really bad and he drinks Irn-Bru and says “I like it, its abstract”. It gets even worse so
he drinks more and says something funny in response. The titles roll and you see his hair fall onto the ground next to the
floor as the advert title screen shows.
6) Irn-Bru zombies want the drink in some kids bag. There is an epic chase scene and then he drops it and the zombies drink
the Irn-Bru off the floor. They become normal non zombies and the kid gives them a smile.
7) Zombie like student on a table and an energetic one comes and brings an Irn-Bru. He tries to talk to them but they don’t
respond. He gives them all a can or Irn-Bru and they drink them and become more lifelike and energetic. The title scene plays
with a happy friend group and the catch phrase “Irn-Bru, gives you life”.
8) Zombie like characters follow round a boy with a bottle of Irn-Bru. There is a chase scene and the guy almost gets eaten
but smashes them in the skull with the drink. When they are on the floor a bit of the drink spills into their mouth and they
become more life like. The title scene plays with a happy friend group and the catch phrase “Irn-Bru, gives you life”.

  • 2. Info-graphic Research: Animation- There are around 4,642 animators in England. They earn around £35,207 per year but can also earn up to £63,970 a year. Around 46% of animatiors are directed straight after education. About 60% of animators on the media industry are male. 56% of jobs in animation are located in London although around 18% are also located in South West England. Some skills you will need to become a 2D drawing animator are: have artistic qualities and expertise in animation, patience, communiction, teamwork, attention to detail, organised and can take direction. The best way in is to start of as a junior animator or animators appentice. Their is a 26% skill shortage in animators in the animation industry at the moment and an 18% gap in art and design. 31% of students who animate, computer animate, 3D or electronically image ended up getting a job as an animator. When animating the work is often shared across many seperate people somtimes in other countries or even other continents. Animation is a global process and has a lot of time and effort put into it as the animator themselves must have a lot of patience and skill to pull off certain types of animation. The American animation industry has a lot more global recognition than the UK industry. This means that many European animators are looking for jobs in major American animation industrys. If your trying to get into the industry one option is to make an online portfolio containing all of your best pieces of work. It will be ood to accept constructive criticism from people your level or above as it may help you improve your work. Other good ways to get into the industry are rom getting a mentor and also being patient because not only is animation a long process but so is getting into the industry. To get a shot at a job in the industry you will need a Bachelor’s Degree standard in Computer animation, Fine arts or Graphic design. Common courses students who want to get into animation take are Animation techniques: Animation writing, Animation history, International cinema, Visual effects and Figure drawing. Some of the career options after these courses are: Illustrators Game artists, Multimedia artists, Production designers or Character animators. The workforce increased by 53% between 2004 and 2012.

  • 6. Client research: Irn-Bru use comedy as the main focus of their adverts. The humor is on so edge and risky that it gets recognized around the world and in the news a lot of the time. This gives Irn-Bru a lot of attention and recognition meaning that it will get a larger audience and more people will want to buy the drink. Irn-Bru have said that they recognize that the youth of today want to have a little more fun in this serious world and ”be a bit less adult” and they believe their adverts provide that. This is what the are hoping will sell their product. Some other advertising campaigns use controversial subjects such as Pepsi who had a black lives matter advert which got a lot of attention in the media and it also contained the celebrity, Kendal Jenner. This gave her a lot of backlash but also to Pepsi. On the other hand it gave both the company and Kendall a lot of attention and exposure.
  • 7. Client research: Barr also are the owners of many other famous drinks in the UK such as Dandelion and Burdock and many strange flavored drinks such as limeade, cream soda and appleade. They also own two different ginger beer companies. Many of these drinks are sold in smaller shops and sweet shops. They are quite successful in England but are not as big in America. AG Barr’s revenue is 257.1 Million and they have around 1,001 workers. They have 10 factory's around the UK and no others worldwide. They are based in Scotland and all of their adverts even the non Irn-Bru ones all contain Scottish actors and voice actors. This gives it a bigger market in Scotland but not as big globally, although it does have quite a large market in the UK as a whole. For the Irn-Bru franchise Barr have run competitions with hidden tickets on the inside of packaging which can result in winning a holiday aboard meaning more people will like to buy their products to have a chance of winning.
  • 8. Client research: Irn-Bru use linear structures in most of their adverts which makes them make more sense and easier to understand because some of them are quite strange or unrealistic. Although some may seem unrealistic and not able to happen almost all of their adverts are realistic and have situations that could happen to you. Most of the situations in their adverts are embarrassing meaning people will want to buy the products to avoid the situations in the adverts. Irn-Bru have also made a Christmas parody advert of the short film “The Snowman”. The lyrics of the classic song ”Walking in the air” have been changed to suit Irn-Bru and they also have funny lines to make the audience remember them. They have also changed the video to have a small Scottish ginger boy with an Irn-Bru in their hand. Also the boy has a Scottish accent. AG Barr don’t advertise some of their other drinks on such a large sale mainly because most people will see them in smaller shops and sweet shops instead of large supermarkets as most of the flavors are regular common ones. Their other drinks are things such as Cherryale, Lemonade and Shandy. They also own many more popular brands.
  • 9. Client research: Irn-Bru have an advert which contains older people saying that they are trying the new Fiery Irn-Bru from their grandson. When they take a sip of it they say the first half of a word such as ar… or bast... And then it cuts to a new clip. But the new clip will start with another old woman saying a word that sounds like the second half of the other one. For egsample one says ”ooh y bast...” and the other after the cut says “hard” as soon as it cuts. This is a joke once again for older people as it almost uses rude language and many younger kids or viewers may not understad it. They use edgy controversial humor like this so that the audience that see the adverts ill remember and tell their friends. It may also resch the news as some of the adverts have done. This brings more attentions to the brand and also more exposure.

  • 12. Market research: Most of Irn-Bru’s marketing is based around Scotland or have a Scottish actor in them as the main roles. This makes sense as Irn-Bru is a drink created in Scotland and it is also the biggest fizzy drink in Scotland. Also Irn-Bru’s whole logo and style is based on Scotland and the Scottish games. Many other companies such as Pepsi and Coca Cola have to find other ways to advertise because loads of fizzy drinks are made in America, whereas Irn-Bru is the only well known fizzy drink from Scotland. This is why they play it to their advantage and it is a good method and has helped get the drink more worldwide than just Scotland.
  • 13. Market research: Irn-Bru is at competition with most other fizzy drinks such as Pepsi and Coca Cola. Many reasons they are competitors is because they all aim for the same audience and all are large successful businesses. The way that they advertise has to be different than the other big brands as hey are all competing for the top slot. The Coca Cola adverts use linear structure and very realistic situations. They also don’t use comedy as much as Irn-Bru. This means that it will still appeal to the same audience but not as well because Irn-Bru uses the reward trick which means if you buy it you will be able to get out of the tricky situations as shown in the adverts. Also many Coca Cola adverts use a man who attracts others to want to give him a Coca Cola which usually works out in the end. This means that some viewers will believe that if they by the product the will get the girl or guy in the end. Many Pepsi adverts use current problems such as black lives matter which brings a sense of realism but then the way hey show the product by stopping the whole riot is quite unrealistic. Many of the Pepsi adverts contain celebrity endorsement such as Michael Jackson and Kendall Jenner, this means fans of these two celebrities will be more attracted to the product and therefore have an increased chance of buying it. The reason Irn-Bru is different is because it uses comedy as its main feature of attraction and it also helps you remember and share the advert if it is funny. Their weird and edgy ideas make them stand out from the crowd which is what makes their advertisement campaign work and thrive. All of the sound effects and features are realistic and are not over the top. There is barely any music in the adverts except for if there is music playing quietly in the background from a radio or a TV in the actual advert.
  • 14. Audience research: Irn-Bru uses comedy as one of its main ways to attract an audience it is aiming for which seems to be a younger one. The comedy is close to the line but doesn't’t go over it meaning it can make people laugh and still not get banned. This attracts with a younger audience because it is silly humor which is easier to understand. Most of the Irn-Bru adverts have a linear narrative which mean its easy to understand. Many of the adverts are realistic meaning its easier to relate to or realistic in the sense that it could happen but hopefully wont. The concept for many of the adverts is that the Irn-Bru can get you out of an awkward situation which has happened to most people meaning it will make you want to buy one to avoid situations like those shown in the adverts. Some of the adverts are less realistic which could be used to add to the comedy value of the advert. In the Irn-Bru adverts they use family's which the audience can relate to as they use regular family's like most peoples. Also the situations are all ones that could happen meaning the audience will fear one happening to them and buy the drink.
  • 15. Audience research: Irn-Bru are trying to sell their drinks to an audience of around 14+ but I'm sure that people under that age will still consume their products. Some of the humor from the advertising campaigns are made for quite mature audiences as in one particular advert, the Scottish accent makes the word “can’t” sound inappropriate which is the whole point of the joke. A joke with a play on words like this may go over most of the younger viewers heads but will make maybe a slightly older audience laugh. Another one of the jokes a younger audience may understand is the advert where a boys mum tries on a new bra and his friends cant keep their eyes off it. This may go over younger viewers heads but once again anyone around the age of 15 or over would probably get the joke. Also at the end of the advert there are two balloons say ”Irn-Bru gets you through” which is the company's slogan.

  • 17. Idea Generation: 1) There are two people having a rap battle in front of a crowd in the streets. One is getting beat until his friend throws him an Irn-Bru and then he starts to win. He then does something embarrassing and takes another drink to come back victorious. Title screen rolls and advertises Irn-Bru. The advert has the same context as many of the other Irn-Bru adverts where they are in an awkward situation and then drink the Irn-Bru and end up on top of the situation. 2) Few men fishing in the Loch Ness and they hook an Irn-Bru. They drink it and then catch the Loch Ness Monster. The Irn-Bru title screen plays and the Loch Ness Monster holds up the Irn-Bru with his tail. This may contain a bit of animation for the monster but one Irn-Bru advert has used animation in the past so it wouldn't’t seem abnormal. 3) Mum has a personal yoga coach who's hitting on main characters mum. He drinks Irn-Bru but then the flirting gets more intense so he drinks more. The title sequence plays with the mum squatting and the trainer making flirty remarks as the Irn-Bru is advertises over the top. This uses edgy humor such as some of the other adverts, this makes the adverts easier to remember. 4) Youth boy is walking down chavy streets and he sees a Scottish chav (AKA Ned) he’s scared so drinks Irn-Bru. He walks past him and he says something and he drinks more he has a witty response and the title scenes roll over him being beaten up off screen.
  • 18. Idea Generation: 5) Man goes for haircut but then it goes really bad and he drinks Irn-Bru and says “I like it, its abstract”. It gets even worse so he drinks more and says something funny in response. The titles roll and you see his hair fall onto the ground next to the floor as the advert title screen shows. 6) Irn-Bru zombies want the drink in some kids bag. There is an epic chase scene and then he drops it and the zombies drink the Irn-Bru off the floor. They become normal non zombies and the kid gives them a smile. 7) Zombie like student on a table and an energetic one comes and brings an Irn-Bru. He tries to talk to them but they don’t respond. He gives them all a can or Irn-Bru and they drink them and become more lifelike and energetic. The title scene plays with a happy friend group and the catch phrase “Irn-Bru, gives you life”. 8) Zombie like characters follow round a boy with a bottle of Irn-Bru. There is a chase scene and the guy almost gets eaten but smashes them in the skull with the drink. When they are on the floor a bit of the drink spills into their mouth and they become more life like. The title scene plays with a happy friend group and the catch phrase “Irn-Bru, gives you life”.
