An Internet of Things (IoT) based portable biometric
attendance system can prove to be of great value to educational institutions in
this regard as it proves to be highly efficient and secure. The cost involved in
making this system is quite less, when compared to conventional biometric
attendance system. The use of cloud computing to store the attendance records
makes all the data easy to access and retrieve as end when required by the
teachers. The use of fingerprint scanner ensures the reliability of the attendance
record.
We propose a standalone application which facilitates a user to send request for USB access to the server, and after an approval from the administrator the user can use the USB. Along with that, the application also generates report for the administrator regarding hardware configuration and list of software in a computer, in a given network. Another additional feature includes, automated and silent software installation in the client computers over a network. Bluetooth Enabled Smart Device for Attendance Monitoring with Feedback System
Nowadays in the modern trend Communication takes place through wireless only. Mostly is Wireless Communications there will be a Transmitter unit and a Receiver unit and the type of transmission can be Infrared, RF, Bluetooth etc. Here, the problem is the communication is Simplex communication i.e., One end we can transmit data and on the other end we can receive data. No duplex communication is possible. To overcome this factor, we can develop a project in which we can send and receive data in wireless.
This will be useful for many applications such as in hospitals, schools, colleges etc. Here in our project we have an idea to have an Hand held device in which we have a transmitter and a receiver unit fixed in that device where we can enable the transmitter, Send a message and deactivate it. Then Activate the receiver unit wait for the acknowledge or for the data to come in and deactivate it. The other side also has a similar unit.
For the Hand Held device we have decided to use a pic microcontroller with LCD Display and Keypad.
We have decided to use a Bluetooth Transmitter and Bluetooth Receiver unit whose frequency is 2.4Ghz.

The modern computer security is a battle between high security and low friction. Developers want users to use unique, complicated passwords for their apps to increase security. Employee Automation System is designed to ensure that the organization is equipped with the right level of human resource tracking for each separate department of the organization. The main feature of Employee Automation System is time tracking for employees. The system is implemented based on biometric fingerprint features that identifies certain or specific employee. The system can be accessible from remote network. The developed system also includes the employee fingerprint verification, employee attendance, employee tracking, employee leave, and salary payment and promotion modules. The operational activities of the system are accessed or controlled by three users, like Admin, Operator and Employee. The admin can access all the features, whereas the operator panel is designed to run the software in office time and takes fingerprint attendance. The employee panel is accessible by employee that shows profile information, last fingerprint attendance access, leaving/absent status of that month. The system is designed with client-server model and software methodology.

Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
