The course is divided into two halfs each worth
fifty percent of the overall grade.

4. EXAM
There are two questions.
The first will focus on an unseen extract
(superhero movie) where you will analyse the
scene.
The second will be to discuss the themes and
content within a film chosen, Bend it Like
Beckham

5. Coursework
There are two parts to the coursework
The first is to analyse and research a film of your
choice which will include target audience and
methods of distribution and exhibition.
The second will be to produce a short film /
opening of a film. This will include planning,
production and post-produciton working within a
group in a chosen role.

Micro Analysis will help you understand how meaning is created in films.
It is basically the ‘Language of Film’
You will be focusing on Mise-en-scene and ONE of the following areas:
• Cinematography (framing, camera angles and movement, shot size,
focus)
• Sound (Diegetic and Non-Diegetic, parallel and contrapuntal, sound
bridges, ambient sound and sound effects)
• Editing (Types of edits, pace of editing and special effects)
