Descriptive Essay Car
Car I always had dreamed of buying my own muscle car in high school. I would shop every day trying
to find one that was affordable, and fast. I never could find one until one day while I was at a family
gathering my Dad asked his cousin if he had any older cars around the farm that were for sale.
He said, I have the one for you.
A 1982 Pontiac Firebird.
It was not pretty, but it was fast he said.
A few months past, while we figured out a time to go look at this car. Finally the day came. On the
way there I was just imagining this car to look amazing. We arrived and sure enough I got my hopes
up, it was an ugly green color. We looked it over and he took me for a ride in the car. During the ride
he hit the throttle around the corner and we slid sideways. I was sold, this car was quick. I was going
to buy this project car no matter what it took. We loaded the car up on the trailer and gave him $500
and we were headed back home. A few weeks past before we started working on the car. We ordered
parts and eventually got it to run better, and we were able to keep the engine cool by adding electric
fans. We found a set of used tires to put on it. The tires were not the right offset size, so the rear tires
stuck out about two inches on each side. I eventually started to drive it on the streets and all over the
place. While working on the car one weekend my dad started calling the car The Firechicken.
Eventually my friend made stickers that said Firechicken, and now there is

Employee Motivation
Employee Motivation Ali joined CVS Caremark project at TCS Noida in November after a successful
stint at Aviva in TCS Bangalore, where he had worked as a trainee. He had always wanted to go back
to his hometown and live with his parents and when he got a transfer to Delhi he didn t waste a single
moment in saying yes to the new project and heading towards Delhi. Many of his friends were also
moving out from Bangalore at the same time which only made his decision easier. He felt that
Caremark offered better career prospects, as it was a new project and they were offered to work on the
current technologies that were in demand in the market. Ali was sure he would excel in his new

Sudhir rarely held an individual member of his team responsible if the team as a whole failed to
deliver for him the responsibility for any failure was collective. Ali remembered telling his colleagues
at Aviva that the ideal boss would be someone who did not interfere with his/her subordinate s work.
Ali wanted to believe that Ashish too was the non interfering type. If that was the case, surely his non
interference would only help Ali to grow. In Ali s first week at work, he found the atmosphere at the
office a bit dull. However, he was quite excited. The team had been assigned a new project and was
facing a few glitches with the new software. He thought about the problem till late in the night and
had come up with several possible solutions. Ali could not wait to discuss them with the team and
Ashish. Ali smiled to himself when he thought of how Ashish would react when he told him that he
had come up with several possible solutions to the problem. He was sure he would be happy with him
having put in so much effort into the project, right from day one. Ali was daydreaming about all the
praise that he was going to get when Ashish walked into the office. Ali waited for him to go into his
workplace, and after five minutes, called him up, asking to see him. He asked Ali to come in after ten
minutes. When Ali went in, Ashish looked at him blankly and asked, Yes? Not sure

Domestic Violence And Social Learning Theories
Domestic Violence is a very important issue to look at for people in the relationships as well for the
children. When children see certain behaviors, they see it as normal even though it may not be normal
to other people who did not grow up in an abusive home. The theory that can be used for children who
have been in a domestic violence situation is social learning theory. The social learning theory was
discovered by Albert Bandura in 1977 (McLeod, 2011). Albert Bandura corresponds with the
behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning (McLeod, 2011). However, he adds
two important ideas: mediating processes occur between stimuli and responses and behavior is learned
from the environment through the process of observational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Charlie was playing with toys on the floor, his mother noticed a very aggressive behavior
toward those toys, so she called the doctor to make sure that it was normal for her child to show that
behavior after the video. The four basic principles of social learning are attention, retention,
reproduction, and motivation (Wheeler, 2014). People learn better when they are focused on a task, if
seeing something being done differently or unusual, then it tends to strike the attention of that person
who is focused (Wheeler, 2014). Retention is affecting information in our memories that people recall
later when needed to respond to a situation that is the same as the first learned information (Wheeler,
2014). Reproducing prior learned information practices a mental and physical preparation that
improves our responses from the that learned information (Wheeler, 2014). Motivation initiates from
observation of others being rewarded or punished for things they have said or done in the past

Why do you consider these to be the most important factors in survey construction?

considered to decide if they should use face to face, telephone, or mailed surveys. According to O
Sullivan, Rassel, and Berner (2008), respondents may ignore questionnaires that seem biased, and
respondents perception of a built in bias may largely center on the appropriateness of the response

The Perimeter Of The United States
Pusan Perimeter Beginning on August fourth of 1950, and lasting until September eighteenth of the
same year, the North Koreans waged a battle against the United States and UN forces. The UN forces
along with the United States were forced back to the Pusan Perimeter, a defensive line set up around
the very southeastern tip of the Korean Peninsula. Inside of this protected area was the port of Pusan.
The UN troops, which consisted of the Republic of Korea, The United States, and the United
Kingdom, were forced to retreat to the Pusan Perimeter between August first and third, 1950. The US
troops fought their very best when they were on the roads and in formation. The US troops also fought
best with heavy equipment. The major difference when it came to the North Koreans was that many
were skilled at guerrilla warfare, having learned to fight it against the Japanese during their occupation
of Korea, and they were skilled at such things as nighttime attacks and were more mobile fighters than
the UN troops. The NKPA, which stands for North Korean People s Army, were a group of soldiers
that used a lot of infiltration. They were good at getting into the enemies forces and killing them from
inside their own bases. The Eighth Army in Korea outnumbered the NKPA, which forced the North
Korean s to recruit the help of people from some of their occupied South Korean cities. These people

Cervix Research Paper
Health screening Cervix
Dr Aisha Bhaiyat
In countries such as Canada and the UK, women are routinely invited to have cervical screening. The
aim of these screening programs is to prevent cervical cancer. Such screening programs do not exist in
Kuwait. However, cervical screening is available. So why do I recommend that all women over the
age of 20 should consider having cervical screening?
Cervical cancer is a disease that mainly affects women in their 30 s and 40 s. Occasionally, it can
affect those that are older or younger. Most importantly, this is a cancer that is preventable. Unlike
many other cancer screenings, cervical screening looks for changes in the cells that may lead to cancer
and not for the actual cancer itself. Cervical cancer is one of very few cancers that can be detected and
stopped before it even begins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A hole, known as the cervical canal, passes through the cervix. This allows menstrual flow out and
sperm into, the uterus. This can also open very wide during birth. The cervix is coated in a skin like
covering, whose cells are collected using a small plastic brush during a cervical smear test. These cells
are then looked at under a microscope for early changes that may lead to cervical cancer if ignored or
left untreated. An abnormal test does not mean that there is cancer of the cervix; it in fact means that
through treatment, cancer of the cervix can be prevented from occurring. Some women can find
cervical screening to be uncomfortable, but it shouldn t be

Peter Singer Argument
According to the United Nations, a child dies of hunger every ten seconds. Likewise, millions of
people worldwide live in poverty and do not know when they will eat again. While the typical
American throws away leftover food, children are dying across the world from starvation. To put this
into perspective: By the time you have started reading, a child has died of hunger. Bioethicist and
utilitarian philosopher, Peter Singer, in his argumentative essay, The Singer Solution to World Poverty,
asserts that it is the individual s responsibility to save children in poverty. Singer utilizes many
rhetorical strategies including appealing to pathos, repetition, and comparison of statistics to defend
his argument: Whatever money you re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away. He
adopts an analytical and indignant tone in order to convince Americans to donate money to save the
lives of millions of children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peter Singer provides the specific number, $200, to demonstrate how reasonable it is to save a child in
poverty. Additionally, he repeats, to save a child s life, which demonstrates exactly what a $200
donation could do for a helpless child. As an example, Singer references a credible philosopher, Peter
Unger, and acknowledges that, by his calculation, $200 in donations would help a sickly 2 year old
transform into a healthy 6 year old. Next, he establishes that, if you were to give up dining out just for
one month, you would easily save that amount. Singer emphasises this to show the reader how simple
it is to save $200, and, more importantly, save a child s life. By repeating this number multiple times,
following with, to save a child s life, throughout his essay, Singer implies a reasonable yet urgent tone
in order to convince the reader that if they donate, they will save a

Lullaby Silko Analysis
Alex Goldy Dr. Christopher Bell ENGL 2160 4 November 2014 Hope In Leslie Marmon Silko s
Lullaby, Silko illustrates the life of Ayah, a Native American woman. In Lullaby, Ayah experiences
both joy and hardship in living with her husband, Chato, and her children Jimmie, Danny, and Ella.
Furthermore, Silko includes poetry as well as Ayah s past recollections and present journey, which in
turn can be misleading as to whether or not Lullaby is seen as tragic or hopeful. However, through
Ayah s reminiscing, Lullaby is depicted as a hopeful piece of literature. In the beginning of Lullaby,
Ayah is an old woman and she sits with her back against the wide cottonwood tree, feeling the rough

hands, scarred by ropes and the barbed wire of all those years, and she would think, this man is a
stranger (Silko). Ayah realizes that her relationship with Chato is nothing more than a relationship
between two strangers and cannot be salvaged. In present time, Ayah attempts to find Chato and looks
for him in Azzie s Bar. In the bar, Ayah is greeted with unfamiliar stares and she is reminded of the
visits she had with Danny and Ella. Ayah recalls two visits that were supervised by white people who
brought her children back that winter (Silko). Within the two visits, it is apparent that Danny and Ella
have forgotten how to speak in their Navajo language, thus Ayah is not able to stand being further
distanced from her children and Silko writes, Ayah turned away then. She did not say good bye
(Silko). Furthermore, the estranged looks from those in the bar remind her how her children gradually
became estranged from their own culture and family. However, now that she is an old woman, Ayah is

U.s. Government s Department Of Defense
Organizational Management Approach
Introduction
The U.S. Government s Department of Defense (DoD) is a very large organization with many leaders
at various levels. From a macro level or overarching perspective the DoD is very hierarchal and
bureaucratic. Then, from a micro level perspective, there are leaders within the DoD who practice
more lateral or flat approaches to leadership. Furthermore, the DoD has both a military side where
leadership is hierarchal as well as transactional, as well as a civilian side which is much more
transformational. These varying leadership approaches within the DoD s macro level, micro level,
military, and civilian structure are all very appropriate and effective leadership approaches for this

These missions and goals rarely change. However, these higher level leaders, consisting of military
general officers, each have their own methods and styles of leading in terms of how they will
accomplish their defined mission and goals. These general officers direct both high ranking military
officers and civilian directorates who carry out the missions and goals set forth by their high
authorities. The macro level structure more authoritative, where direction is provided without
consulting lower levels input. Furthermore, there are specific rules and regulations and a clear division
of labor within the Government bureaucracy (Schoology, 2017). The Government s bureaucratic,
hierarchal, and authoritarian approach is very similar to Max Weber s classical organization theory as
he viewed it from a macro perspective (Onday, 2016). Conversely, the Government is very different
from a micro level perspective.
Micro Level Contingency and Lateral Approaches The micro level, below the military and civilian
directorates, the leadership is less authoritative, this is particularly true on the civilian side. The
civilian side of Government follows more of neo classical management theory, focused more on
culture and performance (Schoology, 2017). However, the military side continues to maintain a
relatively strong authoritative leadership approach down to the lowest level, due to the nature of how
they carry out their defined mission and goals. For

The Degradation Of Socio Ecological Coastal Areas Of The...
Introduction
The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in Southeast Asia. The Philippines is composed of
7,100 islands bestowed with rich coastal resources and marine diversity (Balgos, 2005). With rich
coastal resources, Filipinos made coastal fishing activities its main livelihood. On the other hand,
tourism is also seen as a growing industry in the coastal areas. This has resulted in the degradation of
socio ecological coastal areas in the Philippines. Because of this problem, it is important for the
stakeholders to clearly identify its roles and responsibilities in order to make a sustainable future for
everyone. However, if the policies are not clearly defined and strictly implemented, problems and
issues, particularly with coastal resources, will arise. These include overfishing, destructive fishing,
sedimentation and disposal of untreated waste, lack of integrated management plans, lack of
enforcement, lack of community involvement, and lack of alternative livelihood options (Parras,
2001). This will not only affect the physical environment, but also everyone that depends on it and its
resources for their livelihood. As environmental issues are a very broad topic to discuss, I will be only
focusing on the current challenges being faced by the stakeholders involved in Tacloban City,
Philippines (Figure 1). For example, the policies being implemented that affect coastal shores and
resources, and the strategies that will help minimize the damage around it.

Grief And Pain
According to Leming and Dickerson (2011) Grief and pain is a common part of everyone s life and
should be expected at one point or another. As I once stated, there comes a time in life where the
helper will need to be comforted, the provider will need to be tended to and the strong will need to be
strengthened. For me, this time came while I was at the age of 21 years old. After I married, I became
with child and shortly found out that I was carrying twins. This was one of the most memorable times
of my life, I had never experience such joy and happiness; I felt as if God had favorably smiled upon
me. I experienced a very healthy pregnancy and carried my twin s full term. No complications, no

Not thinking much of it at the time due to the fact I had just exerted all of my energy bringing them
into this world, I allowed the nurses to perform their post delivery duties. Not a few minutes hence,
the doctor delivered my baby girl and boy to me and told me that I had given birth to stillborn
children. In layman s terms, they were deceased upon delivery. How could this be, I asked myself.
Instantly I was numb, I had no feeling toward anything. Although this was a painful event for me, the
real grief did not set in until about 30 days later. I remembered reading that to understand the nature of
a loss as it relates to a fetus, we must remember that relationship of a child and parent starts way
before the birth (Leming and Dickerson, 2011). Also, they stated that no matter where in the life cycle
death occurs, it is never easy for the survivor to make the adjustment. Well, for me losing a baby
before it even had a chance to experience what it was like to inhale their first breath of fresh air
seemed completely unfair. I found myself upset with God; and felt as if He failed me. In my mind, this
could not be happening to me. I am used to helping others get through rough times in life, now I find
myself on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of comforting others, I needed to be comforted
which what Leming and Dickerson (2011) emphasized to their readers. My friends constantly tried to
encourage me with Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (King James Version). This was the last
thing I wanted to hear at this time as it made me further resent the God that I

A theme is the general message or articulation about a subject that every one of the components of a
story cooperate to create. Without centralized topic, a story contains just discretionary occasions and
characters. In both Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
readers view the ideas of death and emptiness, as well as the effects of being nurtured by someone
different from mothers. Furthermore, in this essay readers will look more into these themes and
compare and contrast them with each other and with the views of readers like you and me.

The Secret life of Bees is a dramatic conquest about the look for affection, nurturing, and having a

the female soul.
Both Kitchen and The secret life of Bees are, among other things, a novel about parenting and how
mothering can be done by a variety of people in one s life. It is also a meditation on loneliness and the
outsider perspective of a child who has lost parents early in life on the search of purpose.

Peaceful And Nonviolent Resistance
While peaceful and nonviolent approaches are effective when it comes to changing social attitudes and
initiating social revolutions, these approaches do not always guarantee peaceful change. The methods
of peaceful resistance articulated by Ghandi and MLK, only work within the context of democratic

on the other hand, does not guarantee change for the oppressed population, as this population is
entirely at the mercy of the established order which typically views any opposition as a threat to their
power and survival. Long term institutionalized oppression requires escalation from the dominant
authority before nonviolent resistance can become viable option. Within democratic societies, violent
resistance can often be directly linked to some form of state sanctioned violence. However, in these
cases, non violent resistance offers a much better alternative because the state is more responsive to
peaceful tactics. When established regime s chose violence as a response to non violent resistance, we
see an escalation of violence. This is best exemplified by Syria s peaceful Arab Spring protests, which
quickly escalated into a bloody civil war because of the Assad regime s decision to violently
crackdown on peaceful protests. King writes that privileged groups rarely give up their privileges
without strong resistance. But when oppressed people rise up against oppression there

Prometheus Disobeyed Zeus
A cliched phrase that is commonly used today by parents when they are addressing their children is
Strong people stand up for themselves, but the strongest people stand up for others. Prometheus
exemplifies this ideal.Over a thousand years ago Prometheus was very strong and stood up for what he
believed in. He wanted us to have light and to be able to see but Zeus did not. He did not want us to
see like the god s. Prometheus disobeyed Zeus even though he knew the consequences. He sacrificed
himself to give mankind light. Prometheus was a hero thousands of years ago and is still a hero today.
Prometheus looked down and he seen that mankind was in the darkness, we were without light and
without cooked meat. Was prometheus wrong for wanting to

Thomas Nast Research Paper
As the whole election cycle starts, so do the political cartoonists, journalists, and pundits. While we
modern readers use old newspapers as advice to assist us with our research, back then, newspapers
were hardly ever used. That is until, Thomas Nast came along. Thomas Nast was a german immigrant
born Landau, Germany, on September 27, 1840. Thomas dad, also named Thomas, held liberal
political sediments. Thomas Nast s family loved their home in Germany, but they found Germany s
political climate corrupt and uncomfortable. So Nast s dad sent his wife and his young son and
daughter to New York, where Thomas would later meet them in 1849 once his enlistment was up.
From a very early age, Nast showed a lot of interest in drawing. He did very ... Show more content on

Was he set free? Was he Killed? I will tell you all what happened to him. In 1873( yes we are going to
take it back a little bit) Tweed was tried in court and had to pay charges because of forgery and
larceny, and in front of that, he was found to be guilty and was put in jail for only two years!
Personally, I think he should have stayed in jail for a much larger time. After he was released in 1875,
Tweed was not let off easy. The New York state filed a civil suit against him in order to recover most
of the millions of dollars that he had taken from the New York treasury. Tweed was found guilty,
AGAIN, and he was arrested, AGAIN. Tweed was taken to a not so serious jail. It was more of an
apartment if you ask me. It had two rooms, and a small library where he could pass time and not get
bored. Tweed was also allowed to get visits and he had an aide. Tweed even convinced the jail warden
to let him go out sometimes and visit relatives and take carriage rides through Central Park. But, it
wasn t so easy for Tweed. There were two guards following him everywhere he went, just so he
wouldn t escape. So he created an escape plan. On December 4th,1875, Tweed somehow convinced
his two guards to stop for dinner at his wife s home. But at 6:30 that night, Tweed said he had to
excuse himself because he had to go check on his sick wife. Once out of the guards sight, he grabbed
his coat, and ran out the front door. He jumped on his getaway carriage (in which he secretly arranged
by paying somebody about $60,000 to get), but by the time his guards went to go check on him, he
had already left the building. On his getaway carriage, he was taken to the banks of the Hudson river
and was taken by rowboat to Weehawken, New

improve the radiation pattern. These techniques are the use of an angled dipole and vertical copper
plates arranged on the ground plane for improvement in the radiation pattern of lower and upper
bands, respectively radiation profile in both bands, namely similar gain, wide beamwidth. One of the
popular techniques for broadening the patch antenna bandwidth is to incorporate a U slot on its
surface. They have the ability to confine the power in certain directions instead of scattering the power
everywhere. As a result of less power loss toward unwanted directions, the multipath and interference
effects are reduced.

Reflector Antenna a reflector antenna relies on reflection of energy from the reflector. Reflector
antennas tend to be good directional and high gain antennas [11]. There are some classes of ultra
wideband reflector antennas, such as planar, corner, and parabolic cylinder reflector antennas. In these
reflector antennas, the planar reflector antenna is the simplest and yet most practical design. Principle
of the planar reflector antenna is image theory. As shown in figure according to antenna image theory,
an image antenna can generate in the other side of the perfect electric conducting plane. Using
conducting plane as a back reflector, a more compact antenna structure may be feasible. The
conducting planar reflector serves to concentrate the radiation to the antenna side of the planar

False Eyewitness Testimony
It is easy for people that have been presented with false information to report witnessing events that
never happened. In the article Can fabricated evidence induce false eyewitness testimony? by Wade,
Green, Nash discusses the way in which fabricated evidence impact the accuracy of someone being
able to accuse a person of a crime they did not commit. The participants included 60 university
students, who were then divided into three groups of 20. Participants were told that researchers were
going to study the way in which people behave when gambling real money versus virtual money and

Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides Essay
Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Ankita Patel August 6, 2013 Introduction This lab consisted
of the conversion of alcohols into alkyl halides through common substitution methods. These methods
include SN1 and SN2 mechanism, both of which can occur for this type of reaction. For both
reactions, the first step of protonation will be to add hydrogen to the OH group and then the rest of the
reaction will proceed according to the type of mechanism. SN1 reactions form a cation intermediate
once the H2O group leaves, then allowing a halide (such as Br) to attack the positively charged
reagent1. On the other hand, SN2 reactions are one step mechanism in which no intermediate is
formed and the halide attaches as the leaving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, one could safely assume the product from 1 propanol was 1 bromopropane. This is mainly due
the C H wag around 1260cm 1 indication it was a terminal alkyl halide. This reaction went through
SN2 mechanism not only because the alcohol was primary but also because there were no
rearrangements. If a rearrangement would have occurred, it would have indicated that it was a SN1
mechanism. Further analysis was then done to determine the exact identity of the product and the
chemical makeup. B B C C AA B B C C AA Figure 2: NMR Spectrum for 1 propanol The results
from the NMR of 1 propanol showed 3 different prominent peaks with the peak at 2.2 cm 1 being the
acetone. Because 1 bromopropane has three non equivalent hydrogens it was found to represent this
set of NMR data. The other product, 2 bromopropane only had 2 different types of hydrogens and
would have only had 2 peaks. Further analysis of the structure of 1 bromopropane showed that the
hydrogens closest the bromine group were an indication of peak A in the graph. Because of the
electronegativity of the bromine, this peak was located further downfield. There were 2 neighboring
hydrogens so using the n+1 rule gave the 3 peaks. Going down peak B showed the next carbon which
had 5 neighboring hydrogens thus giving 6 peaks. Finally, the carbon furthest away from the bromine
was found at peak C. It had 2 neighboring hydrogens and provided 3 peaks.

Analysis Of The Film Black Swan
Black Swan a film made in 2010 starring Natalie Portman took us into the world of ballet dancer Nina
Sayers. The film shows Nina s journey, as she tries to attempt to be the perfect embodiment of the
Swan Queen. The Swan Queen role encompassing both the Black and White swan. It shows the
struggle she makes to let go and break the perfection of the White swan to become the Black Swan.
This is the story at surface value. The stories inner meaning though portrays the cycle of maturity
involved in transitions into adulthood. This cycle, I noticed, being portrayed in what appears to be
three stages. The first stage being Denial. The second being Emergence. Finally moving into the third,
Destruction.
Going by this model and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also is shown casting aside the bright colorful possessions she has by tossing them in the trash.
This shows her emergence into adulthood and the destruction of her previous innocent self. Where the
bright colors she once wore were her denial of adulthood and maintaining the perfection of innocence.
This is further proven as it is even portrayed in the credits which start out as that innocent white that
slowly transitions into full black.
The second piece of evidence is the constant appearance of mirrors throughout the movie. Be it in the
actual studio, in the dressing rooms, and in Nina s own home she is constantly surrounded by mirrors.
A quote from the New York Times states, It s in the mirror that they (ballet dancers) see both the ideal
versions of themselves they hope to show the public as well as their own failings. This proves to be
true as in the film what is portrayed throughout most of the movie is the innocence clad Nina who
strives for perfection. This at first is what she wishes to be for the public because this seems to be
what is expected. Examples being what is required of the White Swan and what her mother expects.
That being implied by her constant reference to Nina as her sweet girl . This image soon becomes her
failure as she fails to emulate the traits of the mature Black Swan by denying her own maturity. This
image changes as she does minor things such as putting on dark makeup showing she wishes to be

A Report On Early Spring Planting
Early spring planting is a great way to enjoy an abundance of early produce that normally wouldn t be
available until the late spring or early summer. Many smaller gardens can be started indoors with
setups as simple as a few herb seeds in a windowsill planter or as complex as a multi light hydroponic
system. One of the most common mistakes that happen with starting your spring garden indoors is
stating too early. Conditions must be timed exactly right so that as the indoor plant becomes ready for
transplanting to a full bed, the conditions outside will at least allow transplanting the now grown
seedlings to cold frames. Once the weather turns and the last frost has gone, the cold frames are
removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick spring start. This can give you the chance
in some areas to allow for two or even three growing seasons throughout the year. Simple systems and
complex indoor growing operations all have one thing in common; they need light. Without sunlight
through a windowsill or high powered light bulbs, plants just won t grow. In fact very few organisms
can survive without sunlight, and those that do live in the sea or caves. A good source of light is
crucial to the success of starting your spring garden indoors. When starting from seeds, you ll need to
germinate them first. Most seeds can be started in simple containers like paper cups, but some prefer
peat cups or biodegradable cups. The choice doesn t matter so long as they are

The Heroin Epidemic Essay
Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my
opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum
requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to
me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for
life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for
ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+
tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others

(International) The expanding epidemic of unawareness is taking its toll on the adolescents of St.
Louis City, St. Louis County, and the rest of the world. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs makes it
somewhat easier to understand why people use heroin. The top three levels of the pyramid, 1.social
2.esteem 3.self actualization, show what people are trying to get out of using. Most people will begin
using due to peer pressure and trying to fit in. What kids do not realize is that the first time using
could lead to addiction. So they will continue using because it makes them feel better about
themselves, it becomes a part of who they are. Pretty soon they look around and realize heroin is the
only thing they have left, because everyone else has left. These problems teens are facing here in
Missouri are the same ones they are facing all over the world. A recent statistic from the International
Statistics of Heroin Addiction Abuse reports that over 9 million people in the world are using heroin.

Chicago Medical Malpractice
Just because of a medical malpractice, what could have been a grand moment in your life could turn
into a total disaster for you. A problem with a newborn arising from gross negligence on the part of the
health care provider could be classified under medical malpractice. The right recourse is necessary to
be taken by those affected by such malpractice issues, and getting a Chicago birth injury lawyer may
get you through this painful litigation process. Just like in any other lawsuit, it is important to get the
right counsel to face these legal procedures.

The normal route is for investigative people under the supervision of the lawyer to take the cudgels of
this task. It would be the responsibility of the aggrieved party to collect all medical and financial
documents and all pertinent personal information to the accused. A separate medical examination, and
in certain instances an MRI, is done on the child. This would be the supporting items to prove there
was injury caused to the child at the time of birth.
The deposition comes next, or the evaluation of the collected evidence which is treated individually
for their separate merits. Part of the process in this case includes the examination and cross
examination of the Chicago birth injury lawyer and his counterpart. This process would include the
testimonies of the physicians, nurses, technicians and all others involved in the delivery of the baby.
The negotiation phase would follow, and in most cases, the Chicago medical malpractice lawyer
would be in a good position to conduct negotiations after all the evidence has been collected and
collated. It would be the job of the lawyer to Assess the extent and seriousness of the injury,
considering the economic and other losses, actual and potential, and conferring the matter with the
insurance company. The trial phase would ensue should the negotiation stage

Linner Monologue

The Importance Of Belissa s Speech To Transcending
Fear is inevitable , I have to accept that, but I cannot allow it to paralyze me . How should you conquer
fear? You should conquer fear by facing it face straight on. For example , entering into high school as
a freshman was the greatest fear because of the new system, new school, new people, and new
teachers. Then, how I faced it , was by just simply talking and asking questions and getting put under
pressure because later you would feel happy and very comfortable about yourself. Conquering fear
leads you to transform or to transcend. You might be wondering what is transforming or transcending?
Well , transforming is a major change in the person or something about the person appearance . Then,
transcending is to pass beyond the limits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Renewable Resources For Renewable Energy
Introduction
In the most basic definition, energy is power that is harnessed from physical or chemical resources,
often utilized in order to produced light, heat or fuel. It can be extracted from various renewable or
non renewable sources and has become a necessity for day to day life. Currently non reusable
resources account for the majority of energy production. The prominence of fossil fuels in the energy
sector validates this claim. At the same time this statement reveals a major world issue in regards to
energy sustainability. Although they may able to produce copious amounts of energy, non renewable
resources cannot renew themselves on the timescale required by current energy consumption. With
this in mind, non renewable resource depletion is inevitable without sustainable energy alternatives for
future generations. At this point it is important to recognize the difficulty of this task given the ever
increasing energy consumption associated with exponential population growth. Amongst all nations,
Canada is near the forefront of renewable energy; the country is the fourth largest producer of
renewable electrical energy despite its 8th place standing in energy consumption. This is undoubtable
due to the abundance of natural resources in its geographical location. Currently 17% of total energy
production is derived from renewable resources, despite the sector not being fully developed. Based
on its initiatives in incorporating more renewable energy technologies to

Artificial Pancreas
Pancreas is an organ in the body that secretes hormones such as insulin which is important in keeping
normal blood sugar. When the pancreas is unable to produce or produces little insulin then one suffers
from type I diabetes. When the body becomes resistant to the insulin or produces insulin that is not
enough then an individual suffers from type II diabetes. So as to be able to control diabetes one has to
fully rely on drugs and injections. This means that once diabetes sets in there is no cure. A solution to
all these problems is the artificial pancreas. Artificial pancreas is a device that mimics the functioning
of a healthy pancreas of regulating blood sugar. The tiresome of controlling the blood sugar manually
can be a risky one since as humans one must sleep and cannot control blood sugar when asleep.
Therefore this system includes a blood sugar monitoring device that controls the blood sugar. The
problems associated with the manual blood sugar control are reduced since the blood sugar monitoring
device ensures that the blood sugars are well regulated. Therefore the purpose of the use of artificial
pancreas is to ease the therapy diabetes and to ensure safety of patients by ... Show more content on

The other purpose of this system is to reduce the severe effects of temporal stoppage in the use of
insulin at a time when the blood sugar levels fall to low glucose threshold. This is why the system is
sometimes referred to as the low glucose suspend system. It is therefore an ideal way that can be used
as a back up when the patient does not respond to low blood sugar event. The disadvantage with this
kind of artificial pancreas is that the patients have to be alert in checking the blood sugar levels
manually and give themselves insulin through eating. It is however a better way of ensuring stability
in patients who experience low blood sugar

Assets, or could be added to an attached Schedule that describes all the assets that are to be transferred

Clause 2.1 has to be amended to include further sub clauses that reflect the addition of all the Assets.
Clause 3 has to be also amended to mention the addition of each Asset and the apportioned amount of
that Asset.
Stock of Raw Materials Salmon would want to limit the amount of stock of raw material it is obliged

Salmon will want to seek warranties from Heating in regard to satisfactory quality, and that the stock
items are not obsolete or unmarketable. Salmon would also want to protect itself from any omissions
in the assets that would be needed to carry on their business and thus should choose to include a clause
stating that all equipment used in the business are to be transferred. The amendment should allow
Salmon to bring claims against Heating for any disputes arising from the stock s valuation.

  • 2. Descriptive Essay Car Car I always had dreamed of buying my own muscle car in high school. I would shop every day trying to find one that was affordable, and fast. I never could find one until one day while I was at a family gathering my Dad asked his cousin if he had any older cars around the farm that were for sale. He said, I have the one for you. A 1982 Pontiac Firebird. It was not pretty, but it was fast he said. A few months past, while we figured out a time to go look at this car. Finally the day came. On the way there I was just imagining this car to look amazing. We arrived and sure enough I got my hopes up, it was an ugly green color. We looked it over and he took me for a ride in the car. During the ride he hit the throttle around the corner and we slid sideways. I was sold, this car was quick. I was going to buy this project car no matter what it took. We loaded the car up on the trailer and gave him $500 and we were headed back home. A few weeks past before we started working on the car. We ordered parts and eventually got it to run better, and we were able to keep the engine cool by adding electric fans. We found a set of used tires to put on it. The tires were not the right offset size, so the rear tires stuck out about two inches on each side. I eventually started to drive it on the streets and all over the place. While working on the car one weekend my dad started calling the car The Firechicken. Eventually my friend made stickers that said Firechicken, and now there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sudhir rarely held an individual member of his team responsible if the team as a whole failed to deliver for him the responsibility for any failure was collective. The team had been assigned a new project and was facing a few glitches with the new software. He thought about the problem till late in the night and had come up with several possible solutions. Ali could not wait to discuss them with the team and Ashish. Ali smiled to himself when he thought of how Ashish would react when he told him that he had come up with several possible solutions to the problem. He was sure he would be happy with him having put in so much effort into the project, right from day one. Ali was daydreaming about all the praise that he was going to get when Ashish walked into the office. • 5. Domestic Violence And Social Learning Theories Domestic Violence is a very important issue to look at for people in the relationships as well for the children. When children see certain behaviors, they see it as normal even though it may not be normal to other people who did not grow up in an abusive home. The theory that can be used for children who have been in a domestic violence situation is social learning theory. The social learning theory was discovered by Albert Bandura in 1977 (McLeod, 2011). Albert Bandura corresponds with the behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning (McLeod, 2011). When Charlie was playing with toys on the floor, his mother noticed a very aggressive behavior toward those toys, so she called the doctor to make sure that it was normal for her child to show that behavior after the video. People learn better when they are focused on a task, if seeing something being done differently or unusual, then it tends to strike the attention of that person who is focused (Wheeler, 2014). Retention is affecting information in our memories that people recall later when needed to respond to a situation that is the same as the first learned information (Wheeler, 2014). The Perimeter Of The United States Pusan Perimeter Beginning on August fourth of 1950, and lasting until September eighteenth of the same year, the North Koreans waged a battle against the United States and UN forces. • 12. Peter Singer Argument According to the United Nations, a child dies of hunger every ten seconds. Likewise, millions of people worldwide live in poverty and do not know when they will eat again. While the typical American throws away leftover food, children are dying across the world from starvation. To put this into perspective: By the time you have started reading, a child has died of hunger. Bioethicist and utilitarian philosopher, Peter Singer, in his argumentative essay, The Singer Solution to World Poverty, asserts that it is the individual s responsibility to save children in poverty. Singer utilizes many rhetorical strategies including appealing to pathos, repetition, and comparison of statistics to defend his argument: Whatever money you re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away. He adopts an analytical and indignant tone in order to convince Americans to donate money to save the lives of millions of children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peter Singer provides the specific number, $200, to demonstrate how reasonable it is to save a child in poverty. Additionally, he repeats, to save a child s life, which demonstrates exactly what a $200 donation could do for a helpless child. As an example, Singer references a credible philosopher, Peter Unger, and acknowledges that, by his calculation, $200 in donations would help a sickly 2 year old transform into a healthy 6 year old. Next, he establishes that, if you were to give up dining out just for one month, you would easily save that amount. Singer emphasises this to show the reader how simple it is to save $200, and, more importantly, save a child s life. By repeating this number multiple times, following with, to save a child s life, throughout his essay, Singer implies a reasonable yet urgent tone in order to convince the reader that if they donate, they will save a ... • 14. Lullaby Silko Analysis Alex Goldy Dr. Christopher Bell ENGL 2160 4 November 2014 Hope In Leslie Marmon Silko s Lullaby, Silko illustrates the life of Ayah, a Native American woman. In Lullaby, Ayah experiences both joy and hardship in living with her husband, Chato, and her children Jimmie, Danny, and Ella. Furthermore, Silko includes poetry as well as Ayah s past recollections and present journey, which in turn can be misleading as to whether or not Lullaby is seen as tragic or hopeful. However, through Ayah s reminiscing, Lullaby is depicted as a hopeful piece of literature. In the beginning of Lullaby, Ayah is an old woman and she sits with her back against the wide cottonwood tree, feeling the rough bark on her back bones (Silko). As Ayah ... Ayah realizes that her relationship with Chato is nothing more than a relationship between two strangers and cannot be salvaged. In present time, Ayah attempts to find Chato and looks for him in Azzie s Bar. In the bar, Ayah is greeted with unfamiliar stares and she is reminded of the visits she had with Danny and Ella. Ayah recalls two visits that were supervised by white people who brought her children back that winter (Silko). Within the two visits, it is apparent that Danny and Ella have forgotten how to speak in their Navajo language, thus Ayah is not able to stand being further distanced from her children and Silko writes, Ayah turned away then. She did not say good bye (Silko). Furthermore, the estranged looks from those in the bar remind her how her children gradually became estranged from their own culture and family. Government s Department Of Defense Organizational Management Approach Introduction The U.S. Government s Department of Defense (DoD) is a very large organization with many leaders at various levels. From a macro level or overarching perspective the DoD is very hierarchal and bureaucratic. Then, from a micro level perspective, there are leaders within the DoD who practice more lateral or flat approaches to leadership. Furthermore, the DoD has both a military side where leadership is hierarchal as well as transactional, as well as a civilian side which is much more transformational. The macro level structure more authoritative, where direction is provided without consulting lower levels input. Furthermore, there are specific rules and regulations and a clear division of labor within the Government bureaucracy (Schoology, 2017). The Government s bureaucratic, hierarchal, and authoritarian approach is very similar to Max Weber s classical organization theory as he viewed it from a macro perspective (Onday, 2016). Conversely, the Government is very different from a micro level perspective. Micro Level Contingency and Lateral Approaches The micro level, below the military and civilian directorates, the leadership is less authoritative, this is particularly true on the civilian side. The civilian side of Government follows more of neo classical management theory, focused more on culture and performance (Schoology, 2017). However, the military side continues to maintain a relatively strong authoritative leadership approach down to the lowest level, due to the nature of how they carry out their defined mission and goals. • 16. The Degradation Of Socio Ecological Coastal Areas Of The... Introduction The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in Southeast Asia. The Philippines is composed of 7,100 islands bestowed with rich coastal resources and marine diversity (Balgos, 2005). With rich coastal resources, Filipinos made coastal fishing activities its main livelihood. On the other hand, tourism is also seen as a growing industry in the coastal areas. This has resulted in the degradation of socio ecological coastal areas in the Philippines. Because of this problem, it is important for the stakeholders to clearly identify its roles and responsibilities in order to make a sustainable future for everyone. However, if the policies are not clearly defined and strictly implemented, problems and issues, particularly with coastal resources, will arise. These include overfishing, destructive fishing, sedimentation and disposal of untreated waste, lack of integrated management plans, lack of enforcement, lack of community involvement, and lack of alternative livelihood options (Parras, 2001). This will not only affect the physical environment, but also everyone that depends on it and its resources for their livelihood. As environmental issues are a very broad topic to discuss, I will be only focusing on the current challenges being faced by the stakeholders involved in Tacloban City, Philippines (Figure 1). For example, the policies being implemented that affect coastal shores and resources, and the strategies that will help minimize the damage around it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Grief And Pain According to Leming and Dickerson (2011) Grief and pain is a common part of everyone s life and should be expected at one point or another. As I once stated, there comes a time in life where the helper will need to be comforted, the provider will need to be tended to and the strong will need to be strengthened. For me, this time came while I was at the age of 21 years old. After I married, I became with child and shortly found out that I was carrying twins. This was one of the most memorable times of my life, I had never experience such joy and happiness; I felt as if God had favorably smiled upon me. How could this be, I asked myself. Instantly I was numb, I had no feeling toward anything. Although this was a painful event for me, the real grief did not set in until about 30 days later. I remembered reading that to understand the nature of a loss as it relates to a fetus, we must remember that relationship of a child and parent starts way before the birth (Leming and Dickerson, 2011). Also, they stated that no matter where in the life cycle death occurs, it is never easy for the survivor to make the adjustment. Well, for me losing a baby before it even had a chance to experience what it was like to inhale their first breath of fresh air seemed completely unfair. I found myself upset with God; and felt as if He failed me. In my mind, this could not be happening to me. I am used to helping others get through rough times in life, now I find myself on the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of comforting others, I needed to be comforted which what Leming and Dickerson (2011) emphasized to their readers. My friends constantly tried to encourage me with Romans 8:28, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (King James Version). • 19. Peaceful And Nonviolent Resistance While peaceful and nonviolent approaches are effective when it comes to changing social attitudes and initiating social revolutions, these approaches do not always guarantee peaceful change. The methods of peaceful resistance articulated by Ghandi and MLK, only work within the context of democratic states with some form of established civil society. Nonviolent resistance in authoritarian dictatorships, on the other hand, does not guarantee change for the oppressed population, as this population is entirely at the mercy of the established order which typically views any opposition as a threat to their power and survival. Long term institutionalized oppression requires escalation from the dominant authority before nonviolent resistance can become viable option. Within democratic societies, violent resistance can often be directly linked to some form of state sanctioned violence. However, in these cases, non violent resistance offers a much better alternative because the state is more responsive to peaceful tactics. When established regime s chose violence as a response to non violent resistance, we see an escalation of violence. This is best exemplified by Syria s peaceful Arab Spring protests, which quickly escalated into a bloody civil war because of the Assad regime s decision to violently crackdown on peaceful protests. One of the popular techniques for broadening the patch antenna bandwidth is to incorporate a U slot on its surface. Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides Essay Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Ankita Patel August 6, 2013 Introduction This lab consisted of the conversion of alcohols into alkyl halides through common substitution methods. These methods include SN1 and SN2 mechanism, both of which can occur for this type of reaction. For both reactions, the first step of protonation will be to add hydrogen to the OH group and then the rest of the reaction will proceed according to the type of mechanism. Many smaller gardens can be started indoors with setups as simple as a few herb seeds in a windowsill planter or as complex as a multi light hydroponic system. One of the most common mistakes that happen with starting your spring garden indoors is stating too early. Conditions must be timed exactly right so that as the indoor plant becomes ready for transplanting to a full bed, the conditions outside will at least allow transplanting the now grown seedlings to cold frames. Once the weather turns and the last frost has gone, the cold frames are removed and the plants will be well on there way to a quick spring start. The prominence of fossil fuels in the energy sector validates this claim. At the same time this statement reveals a major world issue in regards to energy sustainability. Although they may able to produce copious amounts of energy, non renewable resources cannot renew themselves on the timescale required by current energy consumption. With this in mind, non renewable resource depletion is inevitable without sustainable energy alternatives for future generations. At this point it is important to recognize the difficulty of this task given the ever increasing energy consumption associated with exponential population growth. Amongst all nations, Canada is near the forefront of renewable energy; the country is the fourth largest producer of renewable electrical energy despite its 8th place standing in energy consumption. This is undoubtable due to the abundance of natural resources in its geographical location. Currently 17% of total energy production is derived from renewable resources, despite the sector not being fully developed. Based on its initiatives in incorporating more renewable energy technologies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
