`` Long Day s Journey Into Night `` By Eugene O Neill
The tragedy is part of many plays, and Long Day Journey into Night is no different. The author
Eugene O Neill captures this in his play published in 1956. A semi autobiographical play the
author focuses on a family of four, which is the Tyrone family, where their mother Mary is a
morphine addict, while her sonEdmund is suffering from tuberculosis. Many families try to hide
and cover addictions as part of protecting their familyname and image. In the play, Long Day s
Journey into Night , Eugene O Neill exposes the Tyrone family as reluctant, bitter, and naive, all
which correlate to the dysfunctional family that they are. James who is the father and Jamie, the
alcoholic son suspect a relapse, which made Mary start abusing drugs again. Despite this, their
determination is not to engage in any hostilities that might upset her, as she they think this will
further affect her ability to handle things. Under such circumstances, feelings of sadness and
guilt engulf them, as they do not want to confront her as they love her, but they know at some
point she will need help. In fact, the first chapter of the book is like walking on egg shells. In the
play, there are two main tragedies surrounding the family, which is the addiction and illness in the
household. To bring out the addiction, O Neill shows Mary as a troubled woman, who needs
Morphine to cope with life challenges and demands. As her family is well aware of the issues she
faces with her addiction, they do not show

The Privilege Of Attending The Bush House Museum
I had the privilege of attending the Bush House Museum here in Salem. I went on Sunday
November 20, 2016 and wanted to go because the house was built in the Victorian era. I ve always
been quite intrigued with the Victorian era overall. That includes architecture, people, and the
culture. The Bush House belonged to Asahel BushII (1824 1913) became editor and publisher of
The OregonStatesman newspaper in 1851, and later served as state printer. He lived in the house
with Eugenia Zieber Bush (1833 1863) and his four children, Estelle (1856 1942), Asahel (1858
1953), Sally (1860 1946) and Eugenia (1862 1932). Later in 1863, Bush s wife died at age 39
with Tuberculosis and so the children only lived with him after that while later moving forth
with their own lives as adults. However, I have declined to provide a ticket due to this following
reason: my good colleague, Karen Howard and I got lost trying to locate the Bush House Museum.
We finally arrived at 1:20 and graciously waited for the tour guideto come to the door after we rang
the bell. She came out and we explained to her that we lost our way in trying to find the house.
We told her we intended to come for the 1pm tour. Thankfully, we did not have to wait for the
2pm tour and she took us right in. After, we finished the guided tour, she said we did not even
need to come back and prove to her that we bought tickets, she said we simply needed to pay the
admission price at the nearby art gallery. When we went to go

My Passion Is Softball
Imagine a warm September night under bright field lights. The light summer breeze brushing
against your face. A rush of adrenaline through your veins. There s a swell of cheering coming
from in the stands and the dugout. You can feel the most overwhelming sense of joy. That is my
passion. According to the Merriam Webster English Dictionary, passion means a strong liking or
desire for, or devotion to some activity, object, or concept, but that is stiff and set, with no hint of
emotion as all definitions are. To me it means a feeling in your chest when you think about
something, because you love that one thing so much. Everyone has different passions, but for
me one thing strikes a chord. My passion is softball, and it includes so many amazing things
even past it s pretty obvious physical benefits. I love softball, because it has allowed me to be
healthier, learn many life lessons, and make great friends. It benefits my community by
allowing primarily young girls to develop leadership skills, how to deal with controversy,
teachability, and gives them an opportunity to make friendships that will last them their whole
lives, as well. To understand how softball benefits people, it would be easier if we knew a little
history. You probably think it s simple: Softball is just women s baseball. That, however, is not
entirely the case. In fact, softball was actually created as the product of a football game. In
November of 1887, a group of friends sat at the Farragut Boat Club in

Emma-Personal Narrative
My heart was pounding as I pictured her reaction in my head. This gift was going to make her so
happy the bell rang my heart jumped and I raced for my car meeting Emma who will be helping
me get this gift. Quickly, we arrived at the mall where I was introduced to my wallets nightmare.
Sephora, where you can get the best make up anywhere sat right in front of me. I dove in and
Emma as she showed me the basis of a girls needs for make up. I learned that it s not just a stick
and brush, but a whole entire system just to make your eye look different. After each jaw

much. Also, adding in a few more brushes and creams and some fake eyelashes I was all... Show

I was excited but, I did not think that this present was yet the best, I felt that it was missing
something. I wanted to blow her away and give her something she never expect from me. Then
on the corner of my eye my childhood jump back into view there it was the Disney store.
Quickly me and Emma ran inside giddy and excited to see Disney everything. There I found my
icing on the cake Minnie Mouse ears for her collection. The next day came and her gift was
wrapped and ready to go. I was so excited I had it all planned out in my head to give it to her that
night but, as the day went on I gave in. I gave her the present and I knew she expected maybe a
shirt or something but nothing like this. Her eyes widen like she has seen a field of puppies. Her
little cheeks lit up her and white teeth shinned in the sunlight. She wore the Minnie Mouse ears
and was so excited . Then she dug her hand deeper in the bag and pulled out the tarte makeup kit.
Her jaw dropped to the floor and she jumped with excitement tackling me to the ground. I will

My Personal Communication Philosophy
My personal communication philosophy includes two factors that will support improved
comprehension among those attempting to connect. The following paper will discuss these two
elements: merging communication styles to aid in understanding and communication intent vs.
perception.
Everybody, either knowingly or unknowingly, utilizes a preferred communicationstyle. My style is
centered on merging my preferred communication techniques with the communication style of
those to which I am relating. We all have preferred methods to send and receive information. If you
choose not to communicate with someone utilizing a method that they appreciate and understand,
your message will not be understood, heard or valued.
I communicate in a very practical, concise way. Give me the facts, make it simple and I will
happily receive your communication. I once worked with an individual who did not appreciate facts
or concise conversations. She preferred large, sweeping hand gestures, flowery stories and lengthy
conversation to communicate a concept. She and I have very different communication styles. I
quickly learned that if I used my concise techniques, she did not understand nor appreciate the
conversation. If I wanted to effectively communicate with her, I had to adopt her style, tempo and
verbosity. Once I adopted this method, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initiator typically has a clear vision of the intent of the message. The receiver will either
decipher the message as intended, or assign an alternate meaning to the message. It is the equal
responsibility of both parties to understand the intent of message and not rely on the perception of
the receiver. Words don t mean things, people mean things (Griffin, 2012, p.7). Words and the
delivery of the message can often be misconstrued, so we must be accountable for clear message
delivery and committed to understanding the message as intended. First perceptions are not always

The Controversy Over the Medicinal Use of Marijuana...
The debate about marijuana in the United States is ever changing and not lacking in attention by
any means. Just the topic of marijuana legalization brings about varying opinions on many
different levels and which has the potential to divide a country, a state, a county, a city and in
some instances, maybe a household. The topic of marijuana and its legalization for whatever
reasons contains within it, many topics which the debate currently revolves around. However, the
debate to decriminalize marijuana for medicinal purposes is the most profound. But, many who
do not know may ask the questions. Who is involved in the debate and for what reasons? How has
it affected our society or nation as a whole? Or, what is the past and what may... Show more content

Advocates for medicinal marijuana argue that clinical tests have established that marijuana has
definite and valid therapeutic values. It is the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in marijuana that is the
active chemical component for the relief o pain and symptoms. Marijuana suppresses AIDS
related nausea and nausea in patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy, along with appetite loss
and abnormal pressure in the eye which leads to glaucoma, the #1 cause of blindness. Marijuana
is also believed to be a safe and inexpensive alternative in treating muscle spasms, epilepsy,
anorexia, asthma, insomnia, depression and other disorders. Marijuana is not only believed to help
with physical ailments, but psychological ones as well. A former chairman of the 1991 established
Office of Alternative Medicine s (OAM) Program Advisory Council said, When used appropriately,
marijuana could be extremely helpful to people undergoing certain kinds of emotional crises.
Then there is the opposition who says that there is still no consensus that confirms marijuana as a
legitimate medicinal agent. The opponents believe the THC damages the brain, the heart, the lungs,
the reproductive and immune systems, and that marijuana use is linked to increased aggressiveness
and violent behavior. It is also reported to reduce memory, inhibit driving ability, limit attention

Oppression In Women
Oppression is perpetuated in our society through supremacy and discrimination. Women of color
have been subjected to the justifications of unfair treatment from their oppressors both male and
female for generations and are expected to identify with misconceived definitions that have been
externally attributed to their own realities. There is an immense pressure on the women of color
who have broken out of the cycle of this socioeconomic imprisonment to maintain their standing
within society s good graces. This is often discussed as though these women have something to
hide, as though a friendly and modest demeanor are enough to erase the layers of transgenerational
trauma from sight of the very same oppressors that caused it. At the... Show more content on

Claudia Rankine, an award winning poet and essayist who s work often revolves around racial
themes, wrote an article for The New York Times in 2015 entitled The Meaning of Serena Williams
.
Both pieces mention Williams comfortability within her own skin. Both pieces accurately convey
the ability she has to bend situations to her will and thrive under circumstances of her own creation.
However, Rodrick takes on an underlying tone of critical commentary whereas Rankine uses one of
comradery and empowerment. Throughout his writing, Rodrick makes Williams out to be someone
who has completely bought into materialism and has a knack for self indulging gluttony. Zeroing in
on irrelevant comments about her lifestyle (such as her excitement to get her nails done and her
unenthusiastic response to being reminded about morning practice) Rodrick writes, No athlete alive
dominates a sport like Serena Williams does tennis. But on the whole, she d rather be eating a
cinnamon roll (Rodrick). In context, a comment like this serves to police and shame her
unrestricted nutritional choices. His writing lacks perspective and, although he does occasionally
intersperse tidbits of factual information into his dearth narrative, he tends to do so in a scathingly
dismissive way. Rankine does not trivialize Williams

Iago Role In Othello
If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm. This African proverb
suggests that only your weakness and inner insecurities can help your enemy to destroy you.
Among all great plays of William Shakespeare the tragedy of Othello the moor of Venice

considered as a domestic tragedywhich is about a black general in the Venetian army (Othello) who
experiences a great fall caused by love, rage, and jealousy. After being Egged by the words of a

The Development And Production Of Golden Rice
Transgenesis is the genetic modification of the traits of an organism through the transfer of
genetic material from one species to another [8]. This method is when a gene is inserted into a
different specie so that the organism will attain the desired gene from the foreign (different)
specie. These organisms can express the genes from foreign species because the genetic code for
all organisms is similar which results in that particular DNAsequence that codes for the same
proteins and therefore the same trait and will be present in the newly inserted foreign organism
containing the desired gene.
Transgenesis occurs mainly because of human manipulation with the purpose of improving animals
and plants, modifying crops and also using these organisms as bio factories for human gain/ benefit.
The development and production of Golden Rice is a good example of transgenesis and the
method of Agrobacterium which was found due to the work of two European scientific who
discovered the addition of foreign genes of daffodil plant and soil bacterial would produce
provitamin A as a way to prevent vitamin A deficiencies all over the world, especially in
developing counties. The technique of using agrobacterium uses a naturally occurring soil bacteria
(Agrobacterium tumefaciens) that has the ability to change a plant s genes by invading it through
its roots or stem. The end result would be the production of beta carotene in the rice s endosperm
(makes up the majority of the rice grain

Why Do You Want In Life Essay
Life is full of many choices. Anyone can decide to choice whatever they want in life as my friends
always tell me. I have enjoyed life to its fullest. I have made both bad and good choices. When I
started school I wanted to be a Doctor but as times goes on, I decided that there is no way I can be
a Doctor. I changed my mind from that vision when I saw what Doctors do. In my life, I have tried
a lot of sports, and I can say that soccer is the best and my favorite among the rest. Soccer as sports
is the best among all because a lot of people support it all over the world; it has fewer injuries and
also international competition. Many people support soccer. Soccer has a lot of people support
it. Every country that you will go, you will see soccer pitch like every area. The majority of world
populations follow soccer because it has so many registered soccer players across the globe and
it is not surprising it has support worldwide than any other sports. I love soccer and due to that I

provides more opportunities to compete internationally. Compare to other sports, no all the

Summary Of The Film The Linguists
The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to
learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through
their quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are
near death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage
language. Focusing on the moribund languagesof Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that
speakers of the heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but
went through periods of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority
language that ultimately shaped their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the
Chemehuevi language of a Native American tribe in Arizona, where there is only one
remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to himself and replay recordings in
Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language alive, since there is no one
else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered this language is, as it
is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his language and a
cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it means having to
talk to himself repeatedly. The local majority language that killed off Chemehuevi was English, as it
kept being imposed on younger generations until it was ultimately the only

We Must Learn Their Family s History
Have you ever thought to yourself, where did I come from ? When did my family come to
america, or were they already here? I hadn t really until I found out I had to write this paper. Now
that I do though, I m glad I have to ask myself these questions. Everyone should learn their family s
history at one point or another, so let me tell you about mine. My familydoes things and has
traditions just as any other family in the world. My family has the typical holiday get togethers
and family reunions every four years where you see the weird aunts and uncles who know
exactly who you are and you just stand there like, oh gosh, do I know this one? Along with the
typical family traditions, we also have our own. On Christmas at my Aunt s house all of the
adults will play bingo for prizes, and shortly after, the kids will play bingo for little stuffed
animals and miscellaneous trinkets. After that we d all eat dinner and play pool and such
things. It s a great time and a lovely tradition we have. Most of that side of the family came from
Germany, my mom s mom s side. We don t speak much, or any for that matter, German. It was a
long long time ago that my family decided the United States was for them. Way before my time.
This side of the family also has a killer chicken and dumpling recipe. I can not wait to learn how
to make it one day. It s so good, I could it eat it every other day of the week. It s funny though,
because it s just the pancake mix stuff put in chicken broth.

Introduction
Solvent extraction is dependent on the two liquids having different polarities so that they do not
mix with each other (Example Crude oil and water). When these two liquids are mixed together
they form separate layers, these two liquids would therefore be described as immiscible.
A lot of organic acids cannot be dissolved in water although can be dissolved when placed in
organic solvents. However, their sodium salts are soluble when mixed with water and insoluble
when mixed with organic solvents. This is mostly down to the salts being ionic and the acids are
almost completely undissociated. Sodium salts can be formed by the reaction of an organic acid
with aqueous sodium hydroxide.
RCOOH + NaOH пѓ RCOO Na + H2O
Aim
The aim of the experiment was to purify an organic acid and to synthesise crystals of the organic
solvent. These crystals would then be used to determine the melting point and to calculate the mass
of the sample obtained.
Experimental
20cm3 of organic acid was measured in a measuring cylinder and transferred to the separating

Moll Flanders And Sexism In Literature
The appearance of women in 18th Century literary works, was on the rise. Women were side
characters early novels and often used by authors as a device to portray virtue and innocence to the
public. To set a standard of what an modest woman of this time period should stand for and how
they should interact with others. Women used as main protagonist faced great challenges and went
to great lengths to protect their virtue from the inappropriate touch of men. These women were
wives with maternal instincts, who wanted nothing more than to marry for love and have rooms
filled with children and expensive dresses only adding to the sexist stigma that oppressed the
women of this time period. Daniel Defoedecided to set himself apart from these clique novels and
take on the flipped role of critiquing this sexism with his novelthe fortunes and misfortunes of the
famous Moll Flanders. As one of this period may see his novel as a place of sentiment with quick
witted humor and a good adventure novel, others and literary critics today see it as a critique
itself on the sexism of the time period. This was later confirmed to be the intended purpose in his
work essay, his goal was to show women in a different light, to make them understand the world
(p.292). In his fictional tale of the life of moll flanders, Defoe sheds light on several issues
involving the oppression of women which often went unnoticed by society, Through this novel,
defoe weaves in critiques on the strict enforcement of

Takng a Look at Robert E. Lee
Robert Edward Lee was born January 19, 1807 at Stratford in Westmoreland County. Continuing in
the military tradition of his father, in 1825 Lee entered West Point and graduated second in his
class in 1829, without getting single demerit in his four years there. Serving several military
positions in Georgia, Virginia, New York, Texas, and Mexico. Over the next 23 years, his
reputation as a strong military leader increased in recognition and respectability, and in 1852 he
was named superintendent of West Point. From February of 1860 until February of 1861, for one
whole year,, Lee commanded the Department of Texas the largest number of troops he had ever
commanded. Lee had to evaluate his position as a Whig devoted to the Union and as a Virginian.
At this point, he did not agree with the political and economic arguments for Southern
independence. Though, unfortunate as the choice was, if pressed to choose between fighting for
Virginia or for the Union, Lee realized the decision would be simple. Lee s loyalties proved to be
on the side of the South because of his family tradition in and association with the state of Virginia.
Lee was born on a Stratford Hall Plantation in Virginia. The fifth child of Henry Light Horse
Harry Lee, and his second wife, Anne Hill Carter, His birth date has traditionally been recorded as
January 19, 1807, but according to a historian, Lee s writings indicate he may have been born the
previous year В¬. Lee often thought of his father as he

Abstract
Rainfall induced landslide hazards in Kenya represents a major challenge and remain an important
issue in disaster management especially in Kenya s central province region where the effects are
very common with the onset of El nin Мѓo rains. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall
induced landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process
based methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land
cover change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and
soil characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water
Available Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide
occurrence. Slope stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the
probability of landslide occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights
of evidence to achieve the probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. The
factors were then overlaid using the probability

The Debate On The Issue Of Poverty
JUDGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over
time. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s
complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully
understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions
from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to
efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting
other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the
teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the
individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why
current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized?
I expect both teams to utilize support for their arguments from outside sources and from the
readings. My general expectations for the arguments by both teams is to not only clearly explain
their proposed arguments, but to also

The Curse And The Doom Of The New World
Introduction 1.Fuku means a curse or a doom of some kind; specifically the Curse and the
Doom of the New World (Diaz, 1). The significance fuku had in the Dominican history and
beliefs were that the name was placed on the people that did harm to the Dominican Republic.
For example, The Admiral s very name has become synonymous with both kinds of fuku, little
and large; to say his name aloud or even to hear it is to invite calamity on the heads of you and
yours (Diaz, 1). Also, the dictator Trujillo was considered a powerful fuku, if anyone would
have utter his name in vain one would have been kick out of sea. Fuku is believed to have been
unleashed by the arrival of Europeans on Hispaniola. 2.I think Diaz chose to convey historical
facts and anecdotes in footnote form for the fact that Diaz may assume one may know
something. But just in case someone does not know it he included a brief description. For
example, when Diaz mentions the dictator Trujillo and if I don t know anything of him, I can
just look at the footnote for brief description of him. Also, I think Diaz chose this method for the
people who want to learn more about the person or thing. 3.I think the purpose of Diaz writing
this book is related to fuku. This is because the introduction is based on the word fuku and
different ways fuku is portrayed in history. Also, on the line, As I m sure you ve guessed by now, I
have a fuku story too (Diaz, 6). The line illustrates that Diaz might write a personal

Farnsworth House Vs Johnson s House
Despite similarities and that one project caused an inspiration from another, there are
differences. The mail idea of both projects is integration with a nature, but still there are different

Farnsworth House is a floating glass rectangle, narrower than Johnson s, raised on metal

Aniline Assay Lab Report
The standard curve and derived equation for glucose in the aniline assay were relatively desired.
In order to determine these values, half of our data was not included in the analysis. These data
points were outliers within the graph and produced undesired results. The standard samples that
were included in the data correlated to an R2 of just 0.90849. With this value falling close in
proximity to 1.0, it can be determined that a successful standard curve was formed. With this

in the aniline assay. Perhaps the lactose present in the milk samples was not efficiently hydrolyzed

Summary Of The Mammoth Cometh
The article, The Mammoth Cometh, uses many appeals and techniques to relay the importance
of de extinction, especially in relation to Novak s passion, the passenger pigeon. Pathos are
effectively used to in giving us (the audience) a personal connection with Ben Novak as the
author takes us on hikes as a boy throughout the badlands near his home, exploring a vast
petrified forest, in North Dakota. Novak frequently came across vertebrae, phalanges and rib
fragments of extinct crocodiles, and other animals. With such a childhood it s no wonder that at
13, Novak pledged his life to the resurrection of extinct animals. A few years later he fell in love
at first sight with passenger pigeons and has since dedicated his life to their cause. The burning
passion he has for these extinct animals can t help but inspire us. He is described as overcome
by awe, sadness and the birds physical beauty, and has visited 339 preserved passenger pigeons.
His solid determination in the revival and restoration of these birds is also unbelievable, trying
first to become a part of a lab already sequencing passenger pigeonDNAand then, when he was not
accepted, writing more than 30 times to an institute to receive a sample of a bird s tissue to do it
himself. Ultimately, he was able to partner with the other lab, but the owner expressed that she was
worried his zeal might interfere with his ability to do serious science.

Driving Laws And Penalties For Teens
Becoming a teenager is all about transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Gaining more
privileges give teens freedom and responsibilities. Driving can be a deadly privilege if not taken
seriously. With more teens dying behind the wheel, changes need to be made. Driving laws and
penalties for teens should be drastically changed to prevent deaths and injuries. It is important to
try to stop this issue from the source before teens start to drive by themselves. According to
Huffington Post, one in five United States teens never took any form of driver s education courses
before getting their licenses. While going to driver s education isn t mandatory in all states, it can
still help improve teens driving, says Road Safety Authority. Also, while at driver s education
teens can learn new techniques such as defensive driving from a professional. Making driver s
education mandatory in all states can help teens be safe and skilled drivers. Not only does every
state need to make this mandatory, but driver s education courses need to be made free.
Another way to prevent teen accidents from the very start is more practice time. Surprisingly, the
greatest lifetime chance of crashing occurs in the first 6 months after licensure, says Teen Driver
Source. From looking at this statistic, teens need more time with having their permit before getting
their license. Practicing more with an adult by a teen s side can help prepare them better for
driving with their new license. It needs to

Essay on Hamlet and Macbeth Analyzed as Aristotelian...
Aristotle s Poetics is considered the guide to a well written tragedy; his methods have been used
for centuries. Aristotle defines a tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and
of a certain magnitude... in the form of an action, not of narrative; through pity and fear effecting
the proper purgation of these emotions (House, 82). The philosopher believes the plot to be the
most vital aspect of a tragedy, thus all other parts such as character, diction, and thought stem from
the plot. Aristotle affirms, the principle of tragedy the soul, if you like is the plot, and second to
that the characters (Whalley, 27). William Shakespeare s Hamletand Macbethessentially adhere to

His action is premeditated and is aggravated by his human emotions, ambitions and greed.
Subsequent to the action, the character is a central element in a tragedy. According to Aristotle,
the character must be true to life and natural and is supposed to be a perfect person to whom the
audience can still relate (House, 91). Hamlet is a wealthy prince, however he deals with the
problems similar to the common man. He is confused, paranoid, and angered about the
circumstances surrounding the death of his father. He is also unsure of himself and how he
should handle the situation. His inability to act on his father s extortion has him reluctant to kill
King Claudius. Hamlet s lack of confidence and anxiety is evident at the end of Act 1, Scene 5
when he cries, The time is out of joint. O cursed spite, that I was ever born to set it right (190 191).
The audience can relate to this uncertain feeling and they are able to empathize with Hamlet.
Aristotle also describes the tragic character as a person of a certain kind or quality; that, if part of
the horror is seeing a man broken, it must be a strong man (Whalley, 25). At the onset of the play,
Macbeth is returning from suppressing a revolt against King Duncan in an engagement in which he
fights with great valor. However once his ambitions take over, his strength is diminished. Macbeth is

Annotated Bibliography On The Development And Adoption Of Cds
Even where CDS is deployed, the implementations often do not effectively use and present the
best available clinical knowledge, thereby limiting the impact and degree of clinical improvement.
More specifically: drug drug interaction checking modules and drug allergy checking modules are
the primary CDS interventions that are routinely being purchased and implemented. Many
organizations that use CDS do not have dose checking capabilities. Some current CDS systems
generate too many false positive alerts, or interrupt clinical workflows in a manner that can
disrupt efficient care delivery. Despite their potential to significantly improve health care,
advanced clinical decision support (CDS) capabilities are not widely available in the clinical
setting. An important reason for this limited availability of CDS capabilities is the application
specific and institution specific nature of most current CDS implementations. There is a critical
need to enable CDS capabilities on a much larger scale is the development and adoption of
standards that enable current and emerging CDS resources to be more effectively leveraged across
multiple applications and care settings. Standards required for such effective scaling of CDS
include (i) standard terminologies and information models to represent and communicate about
health care data; (ii) standard approaches to representing clinical knowledge in both human readable
and machine executable formats; and (iii) standard approaches for

Have you ever heard of a Western painted Turtle? Well if you are from Colorado you should know
what they are! Western painted turtles are Colorado s state turtle. How did that come about? Well
in 2007 Jay Baichis 4th grade class came together because they wanted these colorful turtles to be
our state turtles. Why? Because these beautiful turtles are found by many lakes, ponds, and water
bays around Colorado. They have bright beautiful colors just like Colorado. The Western Painted
Turtlebecame our state turtle a year later after the 4th graders went through all the legal ways and
the process to make it happen. The 4th graders had gone to governor Ritter on March 18, 2008
and told him why the turtles should be our state turtle, and Ritter had signed the HB 08 1017. Now
let s get into more detail about our state reptile.
The Western Painted Turtle is the largest of four species of turtles. They can grow up to about 8
inches and the males are generally smaller than the females. Their shells are nice and smooth
and are about 250mm long. They are called painted turtles because their lower shell is a bright
red with yellow and olive green colored designs spread through their shells. They have yellow
lines on each side of their neck that are about the same size that go all the way to their head. They
are cold blooded animals so they cannot control their body temperature. They have to go under the
mud or sand to keep themselves warm. Western Painted Turtles are aquatic reptiles so

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in the 1920s 1930s.
Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already didn t think much of us. It took
place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach.
Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way.
Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we
live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where
did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are
making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their
names have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the
time the play was written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man.
Which makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time.

Mercantilism Advantages
Mercantilism is often seen beneficial to Great Britain because it ensured products went directly to
the mother country allowing them to increase power and limit freedom over the colonies.
However, mercantilism helped the colonies since it gave the British a reason to rule with salutary
neglect, allowed the colonists to benefit from triangular trade, and receive protection from the
British navy for no cost at all. Although Mercantilism benefitted both the colonies and Great
Britain in many different ways, it can be seen favorable to Great Britain because mercantilism
justified their control over the colonies and enabled them to believe that wealth is equivalent to
power, and that their economic, military, and political power could be measured by amount of
gold or silver obtain. The British government looked at the colonies as tenants who were expected
to equip products that were necessary in the mother country, including tobacco, sugar, and ship
mast s. Furthermore, they were unable to export certain products, such as woolen cloths or beaver
hats and that they must buy imported manufactured goods exclusively from Britain. The colonists
were also forbidden to indulge in vexatious dreams of economic self sufficiency or self
government. Parliament also passed laws to regulate the mercantile system such as the Navigation
Law of 1650, which was intended for rival Dutch shippers who were trying to get into the
American carrying trade. Following these acts, all commerce going to

Baseball and Steroids
Confirmation/Argument Despite steroids having multiple negative effects on both athletes and
the game of baseball, they also have good effects too. The first positive effect that steroids
provide would be the fact that steroids help speed up recovery time. When a person is heavily
stressed Cortisol is produced to help the body and mind handle the stress. However, because
cortisol is so strong; in the process of trying to relieve stress it also damages muscle tissue and
slows down the time it takes for your body to recuperate. This is where steroids come in,
Steroids help to reduce the production of cortisol when your body is stressed. They can be used
to help you recover from injuries or just to allow you to exercise more (Swain, 2007, para. 1). In
addition, steroids when taken correctly can be used to treat medical conditions such as
osteoporosis, anemia, arthritis, and even some forms of cancer. Steroids increase the production
of red blood cells, which successfully effects the treating of anemia. They help increase bone
density, so they are useful for patients suffering from osteoporosis. Steroids are also used to treat
blood disorders, arthritis, and some types of cancers (Swain, 2007, para. 1). Another positive
attribute of steroids would be that they help to increase muscles and build strong bones (Swain,
2007, para. 3). Steroids increase the amount of nitrogen in the body which allows for the production
of more protein in the body, which ultimately fuels the

First selling organs could help a family with debt problems. Many families suffer with debt so
they could just sell their organs to help. Instead of taking out a loan and being in debt you could
sell an organ and help pay for the thing you wanted to buy. Cars and things like that cost around

Essay On How Hormones Can Affect A Woman s Behavior
How Hormones Can Affect A Woman s Moods
Women have a relatively unique hormonal system when compared to men. Men have a relatively
static hormone system with stable levels of pituitary and gonadal hormones throughout their daily
lives, suffering from decreasing levels of testosterone after the age of 30 40. Usually this gradual
change does not markedly affect male mood.
Women, on the other hand, spend much of their reproductive lives with a cyclical pattern of
hormones that change on a day to day basis. The cycle repeats itself every month and the
fluctuations alone can contribute to changes in everyday mood.
In the beginning of the cycle, the LH and FSH levels are low. The FSH gradually rises in order to

If the symptoms are relatively mild, she can take vitamins, eat healthy, and exercise in order to
improve many of the mood symptoms. If the symptoms are severe and a woman does not wish to
become pregnant, oral contraceptives can even out the symptoms. Still other women see their
doctor and get prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs like Prozac, Lexapro, or
Celexa. These can reduce many of the emotional symptoms so typical of having PMDD or even
milder premenstrual symptoms.
Hyperthyroid Conditions
Women are at a higher risk of hypothyroid or hyperthyroid conditions when compared to men. This
means they have a higher risk of these hormonally related conditions affecting mood and outlook on
life. Hypothyroidism is much more common than hyperthyroidism but both syndromes can lead to
mood disorders and mental symptoms.
In hypothyroidism, the main mood symptoms include the following:
Depressive symptoms
Tiredness or fatigue even when getting enough sleep at night.
Difficulty sleeping
If the woman has hyperthyroidism, she likely

Big Fish Movie Eval Essay
Big Fish
So this is a tall tale?
Well, it s not a short one...
Stories are our essence of life. They grow and change with us. They allow us to reconstruct the
past, and put our slant on things. They don t have make sense, and they don t all have to be fact.
That s what kind of story this is. Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton, is a heartwarming, comedic film,
with many twists and turns. It explores the world of an eccentric father, while telling his life story.
And so, our story begins.
It is Edward s myths, of course, that really reveal the man he is. Tim Burton mixes tender heartfelt
drama with zany, outrageous scenes, skipping from past to present, while keeping the tension alive.

This is the film s (fish) hook, and once it sinks itself in, it carries you on a journey that is
unexpected, enchanting, outrageous, and genuinely moving.
Edward s encounter with a witch (early in the film) plants a question in the audience s mind that
we know must be answered by film s end. When this is finally resolved (along with a number of
other things), the result is remarkable. I have rarely seen a collection of images that have stirred my
emotions so much.
In the end of the film, Will ends up taking on Edwards abilities by telling his father one of his
own stories on his deathbed. So the film came full circle and Will realized the importance of story
telling to his father, and to himself.
I did have a few problems with this film. The first would be the overly exaggerated southern
accent it tends to take away from a few of the scenes because you re more focused on how they
talk rather than what they re saying. Also I can see how very few can relate on a personal level to
this story. But either way this film breathes new life into story telling and gives it a new spin.
This is one of the most pleasant surprises to come out of the body of 2003 films. I never expected
this movie to reach me so deeply, but it has, and I imagine that many who treasure the magic of
storytelling will feel the same way. In less capable hands, Big Fish could be seen as a liar s a life. In
trying to reshape the world around his fantasy,

Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd
Benefits of PGD
PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are
life threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so
therefore a healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted.
The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to
continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the
pregnancy once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a
severe genetic disorder.
The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so
otherwise. Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular
chromosomal abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs
more likely to go wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more
likely to happen and this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage.
Disadvantages of PGD
PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding
process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy.
PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing
prenatal testing
The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown.

The proposition that the sun is in the center of the world and immovable from its place is
absurd, philosophically false, and formally heretical; because it is expressly contrary to Holy

Analysis Of The Story Clarisa By Isabel Allende
Isabel Allende s short story Clarisa records the story of a woman, reverenced by the people of
her community and who is kind without exception, even to those who wished her harm. Clarisa
gave everything she owned to the needy, (Allende 36). Her generous nature and adherence to
helping others depicts Clarisa as the model of affection and compassion, who gives absolutely
everything she owns and even spends the last cent of her dowry and inheritance (Allende 434).
For this very reason others hold her in high esteem and perceive her as saintlike. The imagery
used in the story is to help exhibit the respect and admiration that the narrator has for Clarisa. An
example of said admiration is when Clarisa arrives home from the parade for the Pope distraught
and confused. I combed her meringue hair high on her head, tied it with a ribbon, and then sat
down to accompany her through this crisis, not knowing exactly what it was, (Allende, 438). This
gives the reader a clue about Clarisa s age, as well as provides a brief descriptionof Clarisa. This
text also gives insight into the narrator s feelings towards Clarisa, and how concerned she is for
Clarisa s well being. Throughout the story Allende hints at the fact that Clarissa is at an age where
she has become more fragile and certain activities become too much for her body to handle. She
was exhausted when she reached the house, with the din of bells and cheering still ringing in her
temples (Allende, 438). This

Reader Response In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
The Kite Runner Reader Response
Khaled Hosseini, the author of The Kite Runner, has a writing style unique to him in a way that
the majority of his sentences are short and non complex. Although there are numerous words in
Farsi, most are explained right away to limit confusion. You look khoshteep , Baba said.
Handsome ( Hosseini 166). Hosseini incorporates an abundance of figurative language in his
book, an example of this is repetition. The line, There is a way to be good again is said several
times throughout the book to show its significance in the novel (Hosseini 2). Figurative language is
extremely important because it adds a meaning and value that is much stronger than saying it
differently.
Hosseini uses many symbols in his novel. One, in particular, shows the loss of friendship between
Amir and Hassan, the pomegranate tree. In the beginning, Amir and Hassan would go to the tree
to read stories and eat pomegranates. After school, Hassan and I climbed its branches and
snatched its bloodred pomegranates (Hosseini 27 28). After Hassan had been raped, Amir and
Hassan had gone back to the tree but this time the loss of friendship starts to show through.
When Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan, it is him trying to get Haasan to punish Amir for
what he had done wrong. Hit me back! I spat. Hit me back, goddamn you ! I wished he would. I
wished he d give me the punishment I craved, so maybe I d finally sleep at night (Hosseini 92).
Amir needs the punishment he deserves so badly from the awful things he did and now wants to
live up to. Once Amir goes back to visit his home in Kabul, he finds the pomegranate tree that
once was a symbol of friendship, and now the loss of just that. Hassan said in his letter that the
pomegranate tree hadn t borne fruit in years. Looking at the wilted, leafless tree, I doubted it ever
would again (Hosseini 264). The pomegranate tree shows how during their friendship, the tree was
beautiful and full of life. Now that Amir has betrayed Hassan and left him to be killed, the tree is
now lifeless and no fruit to be eaten symbolizing the end of their relationship.
Another symbol that is extremely important is the flying of kites. This is significant because it is

Composite materials is also called composition materials...
Composite materials is also called composition materials or shortened to composites. They may be
selected to give unusual combinations of weight, stiffness, high temperature performance, strength,
corrosion resistance, conductivity, or hardness. They are materials made from two or more
constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties. When combined,
they produce a material with different characteristics from the individual components. The
individual components will remain distinct and separate with the final structure.
Composite materials are made up of some individual materials called constituent materials. There
are two categories of these constituent materials. The first is matrix and second is ... Show more

However, carbons react with aluminium to generate a brittle and water soluble compound (Al4C3)

this reaction.
Polymer matrix Composite is a composite material made from a polymer resin. They are not as
strong or heat resistant as metal matrix and ceramic matrix composites. These materials use a
polymer based resin as the matrix composite, and a variety of fibres such as carbon, glass as the
reinforcement. Polymer matrix materials are also called a resin solution. There are many producer
used it to produces composite. Besides that, there are many different polymers available such as
polyester, vinyl ester, phenol, epoxy, Polyether Ether Ketene (PEEK), and others.
Polymer Composite Material contains two broad types, which is thermosets and thermoplastics.
Thermosets Thermosets are usually formed from low viscosity liquids that become cross linked by
combination with a catalyst or by the application of some external form of energy, such as heat or
radiation such as UV light and other types. The earliest composites were made with a phenolic
thermosetting matrix. Then the epoxides followed, then the ureas, the unsaturated polyesters, and
the silicons, and now there are considerably more. From the usage standpoint, the most important
materials are the first three which is phenolic, the epoxies and the unsaturated

Factors That Affect the Academic Performance of the...
By Kirk A. Johnson, Ph.D.
Few would argue that advanced teacher training does not make a difference in student achievement.
In fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single
most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical
research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on
student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public
education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in
education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like
English or math. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As put forward by Hijaz and Naqvi, there are many ways to weigh up different factors, which can
affect performance of students. It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to
measure the performance of students.
Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors,
family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of
factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and
Socio
Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As
said by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an
important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that
family can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other
necessary and useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to
promote cognitive development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members
is a strong variable. As identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources
does not provide guarantee for better performance of students and have established a negative
correlation between the income of a family and performance of a student. It may vary from
situation to situation. Nevertheless, it is difficult to refute and defy the role of family in

Nietzsche The Grey Area
Mara Holt
Christopher Wood
AP English Language and Composition
27 October 2017
The Grey Area Around 100 million animals are tested yearly around the world . Scientists willing
test these animals knowing that they are causing them harm but it is accepted because it is helping
society as a whole. What does this say about the people testing the animals; do they have any
morality, do they know what they are doing is wrong or do they feel as though they are doing it
for the greater good? In beef alone, Americans consume around 24.1 billions pounds. Here,
America is again though killing animals for our own use and benefits. Nietzsche believes that
there are no morals and that everything we have been taught is anti natural. Nietzsche implied the
morals that people associate with killing, testing, and eating animals are all antinatural. He stated;
as it concerns for its own sake, and and not out of regard for the concerns, considerations, and
contrivances of life, is a specific error with which one ought to have no pity. (Nietzsche 351) This
explains how the people performing these acts of testing, abuse, eating, and killing are only
listening to their animalistic instincts or they know that what they are doing is for the greater good.
Nietzsche continued to explain that people do these things for the benefit of themselves, Almost
every party understands how it is the interest of its own self preservation, (Nietzsche 348) Scientists
test on animals to help the public, we

Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter
Michael Cimino s The Deer Hunter was problematic because it took place in three very different
environments and it was not always clear as to how they were related. Nonetheless, Cimino won
several Academy Awards because of his film s structure. Dividing the film into the three sections he
was able to tie different environments and depict the bloody Vietnam War and Americas
involvement. His filmwas very controversial but ultimately paid off.
As film imitates life, participation is usually involuntary. The first kind of participative experience
is when the audience member imagines themselves as the character in the film. This results in an

Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society
Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society?
In Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the
most obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since
times have changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between
then and now irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots
from the time of the novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while
connecting them to modern day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in
the essay are a good representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in
which the era that Draculawas written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many
authors alike make vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our
darkest desires? Not in the sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of
a dark and sinful kind of way. In society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be
open about. Although, sex is more accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not
discuss. So I believe what drew a large crowd in for Draculawas the fact that it went against the
norms of society. For example, the Jonathan Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as
ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had

The Mystery Of Ghost Stories
Mystery ships are ships where something indescribable or unknown has occurred on that ship.
For instance, the whole crew could have died like on the SS Ourang Medan, or the whole crew
could have disappeared like on the Resolven, or even the ship could disappear like on the SS
Baychimo. When these things happen with no evidence to prove what occurred, they become a
mystery. These three shipshave become some of the most well known ghost stories today.
It was the February of 1947 when the SS Ourang Medan was traveling near the Indonesian
Coastline and sent out distress calls that were heard by many different ships and listening posts.
From these calls, it was hard to know what was happening on the ship but the listeners knew it was
something awful (Matthews). The first message received by the rescue people was, All officers
including captain are dead, lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead,
(Matthews). The next messages that were received were a series of indecipherable morse codes
that were followed by the message I die, (Matthews). It took a few hours before a ship could
come to help the Ourang Medan. Finally, the Ourang Medan was found through triangulation,
which uses a series of network triangles to find the position of points in a specific region
(Matthews). The rescue ship that arrived on the scene was the American boat known as the 6507th
Silver Star. When the Silver Star arrived, its crew members tried to get a response from the Ourang
Medan,

  • 2. `` Long Day s Journey Into Night `` By Eugene O Neill The tragedy is part of many plays, and Long Day Journey into Night is no different. The author Eugene O Neill captures this in his play published in 1956. A semi autobiographical play the author focuses on a family of four, which is the Tyrone family, where their mother Mary is a morphine addict, while her sonEdmund is suffering from tuberculosis. Many families try to hide and cover addictions as part of protecting their familyname and image. In the play, Long Day s Journey into Night , Eugene O Neill exposes the Tyrone family as reluctant, bitter, and naive, all which correlate to the dysfunctional family that they are. James who is the father and Jamie, the alcoholic son suspect a relapse, which made Mary start abusing drugs again. Despite this, their determination is not to engage in any hostilities that might upset her, as she they think this will further affect her ability to handle things. Under such circumstances, feelings of sadness and guilt engulf them, as they do not want to confront her as they love her, but they know at some point she will need help. In fact, the first chapter of the book is like walking on egg shells. In the play, there are two main tragedies surrounding the family, which is the addiction and illness in the household. To bring out the addiction, O Neill shows Mary as a troubled woman, who needs Morphine to cope with life challenges and demands. As her family is well aware of the issues she faces with her addiction, they do not show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Privilege Of Attending The Bush House Museum I had the privilege of attending the Bush House Museum here in Salem. I went on Sunday November 20, 2016 and wanted to go because the house was built in the Victorian era. I ve always been quite intrigued with the Victorian era overall. That includes architecture, people, and the culture. The Bush House belonged to Asahel BushII (1824 1913) became editor and publisher of The OregonStatesman newspaper in 1851, and later served as state printer. He lived in the house with Eugenia Zieber Bush (1833 1863) and his four children, Estelle (1856 1942), Asahel (1858 1953), Sally (1860 1946) and Eugenia (1862 1932). Later in 1863, Bush s wife died at age 39 with Tuberculosis and so the children only lived with him after that while later moving forth with their own lives as adults. However, I have declined to provide a ticket due to this following reason: my good colleague, Karen Howard and I got lost trying to locate the Bush House Museum. We finally arrived at 1:20 and graciously waited for the tour guideto come to the door after we rang the bell. She came out and we explained to her that we lost our way in trying to find the house. We told her we intended to come for the 1pm tour. Thankfully, we did not have to wait for the 2pm tour and she took us right in. After, we finished the guided tour, she said we did not even need to come back and prove to her that we bought tickets, she said we simply needed to pay the admission price at the nearby art gallery. • 4. My Passion Is Softball Imagine a warm September night under bright field lights. The light summer breeze brushing against your face. A rush of adrenaline through your veins. There s a swell of cheering coming from in the stands and the dugout. You can feel the most overwhelming sense of joy. That is my passion. According to the Merriam Webster English Dictionary, passion means a strong liking or desire for, or devotion to some activity, object, or concept, but that is stiff and set, with no hint of emotion as all definitions are. To me it means a feeling in your chest when you think about something, because you love that one thing so much. Everyone has different passions, but for me one thing strikes a chord. My passion is softball, and it includes so many amazing things even past it s pretty obvious physical benefits. I love softball, because it has allowed me to be healthier, learn many life lessons, and make great friends. It benefits my community by allowing primarily young girls to develop leadership skills, how to deal with controversy, teachability, and gives them an opportunity to make friendships that will last them their whole lives, as well. To understand how softball benefits people, it would be easier if we knew a little history. You probably think it s simple: Softball is just women s baseball. That, however, is not entirely the case. In fact, softball was actually created as the product of a football game. In November of 1887, a group of friends sat at the Farragut Boat Club in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The following paper will discuss these two elements: merging communication styles to aid in understanding and communication intent vs. perception. Everybody, either knowingly or unknowingly, utilizes a preferred communicationstyle. My style is centered on merging my preferred communication techniques with the communication style of those to which I am relating. We all have preferred methods to send and receive information. If you choose not to communicate with someone utilizing a method that they appreciate and understand, your message will not be understood, heard or valued. I communicate in a very practical, concise way. Give me the facts, make it simple and I will happily receive your communication. I once worked with an individual who did not appreciate facts or concise conversations. She preferred large, sweeping hand gestures, flowery stories and lengthy conversation to communicate a concept. She and I have very different communication styles. I quickly learned that if I used my concise techniques, she did not understand nor appreciate the conversation. • 11. The Development And Production Of Golden Rice Transgenesis is the genetic modification of the traits of an organism through the transfer of genetic material from one species to another [8]. This method is when a gene is inserted into a different specie so that the organism will attain the desired gene from the foreign (different) specie. These organisms can express the genes from foreign species because the genetic code for all organisms is similar which results in that particular DNAsequence that codes for the same proteins and therefore the same trait and will be present in the newly inserted foreign organism containing the desired gene. Transgenesis occurs mainly because of human manipulation with the purpose of improving animals and plants, modifying crops and also using these organisms as bio factories for human gain/ benefit. The development and production of Golden Rice is a good example of transgenesis and the method of Agrobacterium which was found due to the work of two European scientific who discovered the addition of foreign genes of daffodil plant and soil bacterial would produce provitamin A as a way to prevent vitamin A deficiencies all over the world, especially in developing counties. The technique of using agrobacterium uses a naturally occurring soil bacteria (Agrobacterium tumefaciens) that has the ability to change a plant s genes by invading it through its roots or stem. • 13. Summary Of The Film The Linguists The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through their quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are near death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage language. Focusing on the moribund languagesof Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that speakers of the heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but went through periods of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority language that ultimately shaped their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the Chemehuevi language of a Native American tribe in Arizona, where there is only one remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to himself and replay recordings in Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language alive, since there is no one else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered this language is, as it is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his language and a cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it means having to talk to himself repeatedly. The local majority language that killed off Chemehuevi was English, as it kept being imposed on younger generations until it was ultimately the only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I hadn t really until I found out I had to write this paper. Now that I do though, I m glad I have to ask myself these questions. Everyone should learn their family s history at one point or another, so let me tell you about mine. My familydoes things and has traditions just as any other family in the world. My family has the typical holiday get togethers and family reunions every four years where you see the weird aunts and uncles who know exactly who you are and you just stand there like, oh gosh, do I know this one? Along with the typical family traditions, we also have our own. On Christmas at my Aunt s house all of the adults will play bingo for prizes, and shortly after, the kids will play bingo for little stuffed animals and miscellaneous trinkets. After that we d all eat dinner and play pool and such things. It s a great time and a lovely tradition we have. Most of that side of the family came from Germany, my mom s mom s side. We don t speak much, or any for that matter, German. It was a long long time ago that my family decided the United States was for them. Way before my time. This side of the family also has a killer chicken and dumpling recipe. I can not wait to learn how to make it one day. It s so good, I could it eat it every other day of the week. • 16. Moll Flanders And Sexism In Literature The appearance of women in 18th Century literary works, was on the rise. Women were side characters early novels and often used by authors as a device to portray virtue and innocence to the public. To set a standard of what an modest woman of this time period should stand for and how they should interact with others. Women used as main protagonist faced great challenges and went to great lengths to protect their virtue from the inappropriate touch of men. These women were wives with maternal instincts, who wanted nothing more than to marry for love and have rooms filled with children and expensive dresses only adding to the sexist stigma that oppressed the women of this time period. Daniel Defoedecided to set himself apart from these clique novels and take on the flipped role of critiquing this sexism with his novelthe fortunes and misfortunes of the famous Moll Flanders. As one of this period may see his novel as a place of sentiment with quick witted humor and a good adventure novel, others and literary critics today see it as a critique itself on the sexism of the time period. This was later confirmed to be the intended purpose in his work essay, his goal was to show women in a different light, to make them understand the world (p.292). In his fictional tale of the life of moll flanders, Defoe sheds light on several issues involving the oppression of women which often went unnoticed by society, Through this novel, defoe weaves in critiques on the strict enforcement of ... Serving several military positions in Georgia, Virginia, New York, Texas, and Mexico. Over the next 23 years, his reputation as a strong military leader increased in recognition and respectability, and in 1852 he was named superintendent of West Point. From February of 1860 until February of 1861, for one whole year,, Lee commanded the Department of Texas the largest number of troops he had ever commanded. Lee had to evaluate his position as a Whig devoted to the Union and as a Virginian. At this point, he did not agree with the political and economic arguments for Southern independence. Though, unfortunate as the choice was, if pressed to choose between fighting for Virginia or for the Union, Lee realized the decision would be simple. Lee s loyalties proved to be on the side of the South because of his family tradition in and association with the state of Virginia. Lee was born on a Stratford Hall Plantation in Virginia. The main aim of this study is to develop a rainfall induced landslide probability map for Kenya s central province. In order to achieve this, process based methods were used to map landslide areas using the following factors: slope, rainfall, land cover change,Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI)change, Curvature, watershed, and soil characteristic including: type, texture, soil bulk density, Base Saturation, and Total Water Available Distribution Map. The minimum conditions were set for each factor for landslide occurrence. Slope stability mapping was done to determine the stable areas and thus derive the probability of landslide occurrence. Statistical methods were then employed by means of weights of evidence to achieve the probability weights for each factor considered to cause landslides. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance. The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument, provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor. There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized? The significance fuku had in the Dominican history and beliefs were that the name was placed on the people that did harm to the Dominican Republic. For example, The Admiral s very name has become synonymous with both kinds of fuku, little and large; to say his name aloud or even to hear it is to invite calamity on the heads of you and yours (Diaz, 1). Also, the dictator Trujillo was considered a powerful fuku, if anyone would have utter his name in vain one would have been kick out of sea. Fuku is believed to have been unleashed by the arrival of Europeans on Hispaniola. 2.I think Diaz chose to convey historical facts and anecdotes in footnote form for the fact that Diaz may assume one may know something. But just in case someone does not know it he included a brief description. For example, when Diaz mentions the dictator Trujillo and if I don t know anything of him, I can just look at the footnote for brief description of him. Also, I think Diaz chose this method for the people who want to learn more about the person or thing. 3.I think the purpose of Diaz writing this book is related to fuku. This is because the introduction is based on the word fuku and different ways fuku is portrayed in history. Also, on the line, As I m sure you ve guessed by now, I have a fuku story too (Diaz, 6). With these numbers equating only a fraction of the desired concentration values, there is significant error that occurred in the aniline assay. Summary Of The Mammoth Cometh The article, The Mammoth Cometh, uses many appeals and techniques to relay the importance of de extinction, especially in relation to Novak s passion, the passenger pigeon. Pathos are effectively used to in giving us (the audience) a personal connection with Ben Novak as the author takes us on hikes as a boy throughout the badlands near his home, exploring a vast petrified forest, in North Dakota. Novak frequently came across vertebrae, phalanges and rib fragments of extinct crocodiles, and other animals. With such a childhood it s no wonder that at 13, Novak pledged his life to the resurrection of extinct animals. A few years later he fell in love at first sight with passenger pigeons and has since dedicated his life to their cause. The burning passion he has for these extinct animals can t help but inspire us. He is described as overcome by awe, sadness and the birds physical beauty, and has visited 339 preserved passenger pigeons. His solid determination in the revival and restoration of these birds is also unbelievable, trying first to become a part of a lab already sequencing passenger pigeonDNAand then, when he was not accepted, writing more than 30 times to an institute to receive a sample of a bird s tissue to do it himself. Ultimately, he was able to partner with the other lab, but the owner expressed that she was worried his zeal might interfere with his ability to do serious science. Driving can be a deadly privilege if not taken seriously. With more teens dying behind the wheel, changes need to be made. Driving laws and penalties for teens should be drastically changed to prevent deaths and injuries. It is important to try to stop this issue from the source before teens start to drive by themselves. According to Huffington Post, one in five United States teens never took any form of driver s education courses before getting their licenses. While going to driver s education isn t mandatory in all states, it can still help improve teens driving, says Road Safety Authority. Also, while at driver s education teens can learn new techniques such as defensive driving from a professional. Making driver s education mandatory in all states can help teens be safe and skilled drivers. Not only does every state need to make this mandatory, but driver s education courses need to be made free. Another way to prevent teen accidents from the very start is more practice time. Surprisingly, the greatest lifetime chance of crashing occurs in the first 6 months after licensure, says Teen Driver Source. • 26. Essay on Hamlet and Macbeth Analyzed as Aristotelian... Aristotle s Poetics is considered the guide to a well written tragedy; his methods have been used for centuries. Aristotle defines a tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude... in the form of an action, not of narrative; through pity and fear effecting the proper purgation of these emotions (House, 82). The philosopher believes the plot to be the most vital aspect of a tragedy, thus all other parts such as character, diction, and thought stem from the plot. Subsequent to the action, the character is a central element in a tragedy. According to Aristotle, the character must be true to life and natural and is supposed to be a perfect person to whom the audience can still relate (House, 91). Hamlet is a wealthy prince, however he deals with the problems similar to the common man. He is confused, paranoid, and angered about the circumstances surrounding the death of his father. He is also unsure of himself and how he should handle the situation. His inability to act on his father s extortion has him reluctant to kill King Claudius. Hamlet s lack of confidence and anxiety is evident at the end of Act 1, Scene 5 when he cries, The time is out of joint. O cursed spite, that I was ever born to set it right (190 191). The audience can relate to this uncertain feeling and they are able to empathize with Hamlet. Aristotle also describes the tragic character as a person of a certain kind or quality; that, if part of the horror is seeing a man broken, it must be a strong man (Whalley, 25). • 27. Annotated Bibliography On The Development And Adoption Of Cds Even where CDS is deployed, the implementations often do not effectively use and present the best available clinical knowledge, thereby limiting the impact and degree of clinical improvement. More specifically: drug drug interaction checking modules and drug allergy checking modules are the primary CDS interventions that are routinely being purchased and implemented. Many organizations that use CDS do not have dose checking capabilities. Some current CDS systems generate too many false positive alerts, or interrupt clinical workflows in a manner that can disrupt efficient care delivery. Despite their potential to significantly improve health care, advanced clinical decision support (CDS) capabilities are not widely available in the clinical setting. An important reason for this limited availability of CDS capabilities is the application specific and institution specific nature of most current CDS implementations. There is a critical need to enable CDS capabilities on a much larger scale is the development and adoption of standards that enable current and emerging CDS resources to be more effectively leveraged across multiple applications and care settings. Standards required for such effective scaling of CDS include (i) standard terminologies and information models to represent and communicate about health care data; (ii) standard approaches to representing clinical knowledge in both human readable and machine executable formats; and (iii) standard approaches for ... Western painted turtles are Colorado s state turtle. How did that come about? Well in 2007 Jay Baichis 4th grade class came together because they wanted these colorful turtles to be our state turtles. Why? Because these beautiful turtles are found by many lakes, ponds, and water bays around Colorado. They have bright beautiful colors just like Colorado. The Western Painted Turtlebecame our state turtle a year later after the 4th graders went through all the legal ways and the process to make it happen. The 4th graders had gone to governor Ritter on March 18, 2008 and told him why the turtles should be our state turtle, and Ritter had signed the HB 08 1017. They can grow up to about 8 inches and the males are generally smaller than the females. Their shells are nice and smooth and are about 250mm long. They are called painted turtles because their lower shell is a bright red with yellow and olive green colored designs spread through their shells. They have yellow lines on each side of their neck that are about the same size that go all the way to their head. They are cold blooded animals so they cannot control their body temperature. Mercantilism Advantages Mercantilism is often seen beneficial to Great Britain because it ensured products went directly to the mother country allowing them to increase power and limit freedom over the colonies. However, mercantilism helped the colonies since it gave the British a reason to rule with salutary neglect, allowed the colonists to benefit from triangular trade, and receive protection from the British navy for no cost at all. Although Mercantilism benefitted both the colonies and Great Britain in many different ways, it can be seen favorable to Great Britain because mercantilism justified their control over the colonies and enabled them to believe that wealth is equivalent to power, and that their economic, military, and political power could be measured by amount of gold or silver obtain. The British government looked at the colonies as tenants who were expected to equip products that were necessary in the mother country, including tobacco, sugar, and ship mast s. Furthermore, they were unable to export certain products, such as woolen cloths or beaver hats and that they must buy imported manufactured goods exclusively from Britain. The colonists were also forbidden to indulge in vexatious dreams of economic self sufficiency or self government. The first positive effect that steroids provide would be the fact that steroids help speed up recovery time. When a person is heavily stressed Cortisol is produced to help the body and mind handle the stress. However, because cortisol is so strong; in the process of trying to relieve stress it also damages muscle tissue and slows down the time it takes for your body to recuperate. This is where steroids come in, Steroids help to reduce the production of cortisol when your body is stressed. They can be used to help you recover from injuries or just to allow you to exercise more (Swain, 2007, para. 1). In addition, steroids when taken correctly can be used to treat medical conditions such as osteoporosis, anemia, arthritis, and even some forms of cancer. Steroids increase the production of red blood cells, which successfully effects the treating of anemia. They help increase bone density, so they are useful for patients suffering from osteoporosis. Steroids are also used to treat blood disorders, arthritis, and some types of cancers (Swain, 2007, para. 1). Another positive attribute of steroids would be that they help to increase muscles and build strong bones (Swain, 2007, para. 3). • 40. Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd Benefits of PGD PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are life threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so therefore a healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted. The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the pregnancy once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a severe genetic disorder. The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so otherwise. Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular chromosomal abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs more likely to go wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more likely to happen and this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage. Disadvantages of PGD PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy. PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing prenatal testing The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown. Analysis Of The Story Clarisa By Isabel Allende Isabel Allende s short story Clarisa records the story of a woman, reverenced by the people of her community and who is kind without exception, even to those who wished her harm. Clarisa gave everything she owned to the needy, (Allende 36). Her generous nature and adherence to helping others depicts Clarisa as the model of affection and compassion, who gives absolutely everything she owns and even spends the last cent of her dowry and inheritance (Allende 434). For this very reason others hold her in high esteem and perceive her as saintlike. The imagery used in the story is to help exhibit the respect and admiration that the narrator has for Clarisa. An example of said admiration is when Clarisa arrives home from the parade for the Pope distraught and confused. I combed her meringue hair high on her head, tied it with a ribbon, and then sat down to accompany her through this crisis, not knowing exactly what it was, (Allende, 438). This gives the reader a clue about Clarisa s age, as well as provides a brief descriptionof Clarisa. This text also gives insight into the narrator s feelings towards Clarisa, and how concerned she is for Clarisa s well being. Throughout the story Allende hints at the fact that Clarissa is at an age where she has become more fragile and certain activities become too much for her body to handle. The line, There is a way to be good again is said several times throughout the book to show its significance in the novel (Hosseini 2). Figurative language is extremely important because it adds a meaning and value that is much stronger than saying it differently. Hosseini uses many symbols in his novel. One, in particular, shows the loss of friendship between Amir and Hassan, the pomegranate tree. In the beginning, Amir and Hassan would go to the tree to read stories and eat pomegranates. After school, Hassan and I climbed its branches and snatched its bloodred pomegranates (Hosseini 27 28). After Hassan had been raped, Amir and Hassan had gone back to the tree but this time the loss of friendship starts to show through. When Amir throws pomegranates at Hassan, it is him trying to get Haasan to punish Amir for what he had done wrong. Hit me back! I spat. Hit me back, goddamn you ! I wished he would. I wished he d give me the punishment I craved, so maybe I d finally sleep at night (Hosseini 92). Amir needs the punishment he deserves so badly from the awful things he did and now wants to live up to. Once Amir goes back to visit his home in Kabul, he finds the pomegranate tree that once was a symbol of friendship, and now the loss of just that. Hassan said in his letter that the pomegranate tree hadn t borne fruit in years. Looking at the wilted, leafless tree, I doubted it ever would again (Hosseini 264). The pomegranate tree shows how during their friendship, the tree was beautiful and full of life. Now that Amir has betrayed Hassan and left him to be killed, the tree is now lifeless and no fruit to be eaten symbolizing the end of their relationship. Another symbol that is extremely important is the flying of kites. This is significant because it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Composite materials is also called composition materials... Composite materials is also called composition materials or shortened to composites. They may be selected to give unusual combinations of weight, stiffness, high temperature performance, strength, corrosion resistance, conductivity, or hardness. They are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties. When combined, they produce a material with different characteristics from the individual components. The individual components will remain distinct and separate with the final structure. Composite materials are made up of some individual materials called constituent materials. There are two categories of these constituent materials. The first is matrix and second is ... The carbon fibres are coated with nickel or titanium boride to prevent this reaction. Polymer matrix Composite is a composite material made from a polymer resin. They are not as strong or heat resistant as metal matrix and ceramic matrix composites. These materials use a polymer based resin as the matrix composite, and a variety of fibres such as carbon, glass as the reinforcement. Polymer matrix materials are also called a resin solution. There are many producer used it to produces composite. Besides that, there are many different polymers available such as polyester, vinyl ester, phenol, epoxy, Polyether Ether Ketene (PEEK), and others. Polymer Composite Material contains two broad types, which is thermosets and thermoplastics. Thermosets Thermosets are usually formed from low viscosity liquids that become cross linked by combination with a catalyst or by the application of some external form of energy, such as heat or radiation such as UV light and other types. The earliest composites were made with a phenolic thermosetting matrix. Then the epoxides followed, then the ureas, the unsaturated polyesters, and the silicons, and now there are considerably more. From the usage standpoint, the most important materials are the first three which is phenolic, the epoxies and the unsaturated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Factors That Affect the Academic Performance of the... By Kirk A. Johnson, Ph.D. Few would argue that advanced teacher training does not make a difference in student achievement. In fact, Professor William Sanders of the University of Tennessee argues persuasively that the single most dominant factor affecting student academic gain is teacher effect. 1 However, little statistical research is available for evaluating which type of training and teaching degree has the best effect on student achievement. As the demand for higher academic achievement and accountability in public education grows, it is important to determine whether teachers who hold advanced degrees in education as a general field are more effective than those who have degrees in specific subjects like English or math. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As put forward by Hijaz and Naqvi, there are many ways to weigh up different factors, which can affect performance of students. It is most likely, that there is no universally accepted method to measure the performance of students. Literature Review Performance of a student depends upon many factors. Nevertheless, three factors, family, teacher, and personal profile of students are most likely critical (Diaz, 2003). Significance of factors may vary depending upon the context, culture, level of education etc. Family interaction and Socio Economic Status (SES) of family can play an important role in the performance of students. As said by Schulz (2005), The socio economic status of families has been consistently found to be an important variable in explaining variance in student s achievement (p. 3). Schulz explains that family can contribute in many ways, for instance; it can provide financial, moral, and other necessary and useful support to a student. They can provide a stimulating home environment to promote cognitive development. All the same, the personal attention of a family and its members is a strong variable. As identified by Hijaz and Naqvi (2006), merely access to better resources does not provide guarantee for better performance of students and have established a negative correlation between the income of a family and performance of a student. It may vary from situation to situation. Nevertheless, it is difficult to refute and defy the role of family in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Nietzsche The Grey Area Mara Holt Christopher Wood AP English Language and Composition 27 October 2017 The Grey Area Around 100 million animals are tested yearly around the world . Scientists willing test these animals knowing that they are causing them harm but it is accepted because it is helping society as a whole. What does this say about the people testing the animals; do they have any morality, do they know what they are doing is wrong or do they feel as though they are doing it for the greater good? In beef alone, Americans consume around 24.1 billions pounds. Here, America is again though killing animals for our own use and benefits. Nietzsche believes that there are no morals and that everything we have been taught is anti natural. Nietzsche implied the morals that people associate with killing, testing, and eating animals are all antinatural. He stated; as it concerns for its own sake, and and not out of regard for the concerns, considerations, and contrivances of life, is a specific error with which one ought to have no pity. (Nietzsche 351) This explains how the people performing these acts of testing, abuse, eating, and killing are only listening to their animalistic instincts or they know that what they are doing is for the greater good. Nietzsche continued to explain that people do these things for the benefit of themselves, Almost every party understands how it is the interest of its own self preservation, (Nietzsche 348) Scientists test on animals to help the public, we ... • 51. Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society? In Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the most obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since times have changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between then and now irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots from the time of the novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while connecting them to modern day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in the essay are a good representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in which the era that Draculawas written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many authors alike make vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our darkest desires? Not in the sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of a dark and sinful kind of way. In society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be open about. Although, sex is more accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not discuss. So I believe what drew a large crowd in for Draculawas the fact that it went against the norms of society. For example, the Jonathan Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Mystery Of Ghost Stories Mystery ships are ships where something indescribable or unknown has occurred on that ship. For instance, the whole crew could have died like on the SS Ourang Medan, or the whole crew could have disappeared like on the Resolven, or even the ship could disappear like on the SS Baychimo. When these things happen with no evidence to prove what occurred, they become a mystery. These three shipshave become some of the most well known ghost stories today. It was the February of 1947 when the SS Ourang Medan was traveling near the Indonesian Coastline and sent out distress calls that were heard by many different ships and listening posts. From these calls, it was hard to know what was happening on the ship but the listeners knew it was something awful (Matthews). The first message received by the rescue people was, All officers including captain are dead, lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew dead, (Matthews). The next messages that were received were a series of indecipherable morse codes that were followed by the message I die, (Matthews). It took a few hours before a ship could come to help the Ourang Medan. Finally, the Ourang Medan was found through triangulation, which uses a series of network triangles to find the position of points in a specific region (Matthews). The rescue ship that arrived on the scene was the American boat known as the 6507th Silver Star. When the Silver Star arrived, its crew members tried to get a response from the Ourang Medan, ...
