One method used to isolate oils from a material is to use steam distillation. Many
organic chemicals decompose before reaching their boiling point, so normal
distillation will not work. However, steam is used to carry small amounts of these

Intern Nation By Ross Perlin
Intern Nation by Ross Perlin tells you most everything you ever wanted to know
about internships and then some. Equal parts history lesson, tell all and personal
commentary, this should be assigned reading for anyone considering taking part in
an internship. It has been coded into the minds of the young job seekers today that
they must first work for free if they ever hope to find a good paying position. Perlin
sends the necessary message though that the system that has been put in place to
make this possible is cracked and presents a bad deal for internshipseeking individual.
Perlin recounts that most internships are filled with less than fulfilling fun work
such as errands and clean up duty. This seems to provoke outrage and bitterness on
his behalf. On this point I have to say that I agree and disagree with him. In the
case of my internship I worked on some things that furthered my skill set, but
mostly on administrative reporting and lists of media contacts. However, I have
to say that as far as tales of workplace hardships go, mine were not particularly
horrible. There is boring work that is necessary for all businesses to succeed and
who better to do it than the lowest man on the totem pole the guy who doesn t have
the skills to do anything else and has yet to earn the privilege of doing more

Characteristics Of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is a term often used to describe a person who owns and operates
their own business, but the 2009 World Economic Forum report describes it, The
pursuit of opportunity beyond the resources you currently control Stevenson (1983,
1985); Stevenson and Jarillo (1991) and the 2008 European Commission published a
framework definition derived from representatives from ETF, GIZ, ILO, UNESCO
and UNEVOC that states, Entrepreneurship refers to an individual s ability to turn
ideas into action... . But no matter how you define it, the most important skills, traits,
and characteristics needed to be successful are vastly analogous. Along with this
week s reading, I conducted internet searches for the top characteristics, traits, and
skills for entrepreneurship and my findings were surprisingly similar. The most
common result that I found was determination (willpower, self discipline, drive,
motivation). In this submission, I will identify a successful entrepreneur and describe
the their type of innovation or business, what characteristics or traits they have, how
they got started, and what they did in order to become and remain successful. In
2012 entrepreneur and founder of the San Francisco based apparel startup American
Giant, Bayard Winthrop called a New York Times technology columnist, Farhad
Manjoo to boast of his own world s best hooded sweatshirt. Manjoo agreed to

The Republic of Lithuania, one of the three Baltic states, is located along the shore
of the Baltic Sea in Northeastern Europe. The texture of the folk pieces are
typically polyphonic, featuring such instruments such as flutes and kankles. The
Lithuanian Kankle is a string instrument which could be described as a mixture of
the harp and piano. It is played on a flat surface by plucking the strings with a pick
or fingers. A piece of soft wood covers a hollowed out trapezoidal piece of
hardwood. Sound holes are cut in the softwood so that the sound can be projected.
Bordered by both England and the Atlantic Sea, Scotland is home to the second
largest city in the world. A major influence on Scottish culture comes from it s
nationalistic music.

America By Tony Hoagland Summary
In the poem America, by Tony Hoagland, the idea of Americans being consumed
with their money is shown using symbolism and metaphors. The speaker in this
poem is a teacher whose name is never mentioned. One thing revealed in the poem is
that the speaker has a father who is presumably very wealthy and successful. One of
the teacher s students compares America to a maximum security prison. A recurring
theme throughout America is Hoagland showing examples of America s greedy
society using a teacher, student, and a father s experiences. Using metaphors of
money and symbols of rivers filled with merchandise, Tony Hoagland captures how
the teacher begins to think after he hears his student compare America to a maximum
security prison.
Throughout the poem the speaker mentions things that relate to consumerism in
