Example Exemplification Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Example Exemplification Essay" can present a unique set of
challenges. The difficulty lies not only in crafting a well-structured and coherent piece but also
in the intricacies of exemplification. The task requires a thorough understanding of the subject
matter and the ability to provide clear and compelling examples to support the main points.
One challenge is finding relevant and diverse examples that effectively illustrate the concepts
being discussed. This involves extensive research and critical thinking to identify examples that
resonate with the audience and strengthen the overall argument. Additionally, the writer must
strike a balance between the number of examples and the depth of analysis for each, ensuring
that the essay remains focused and cohesive.
The organization of the essay is another aspect that demands careful attention. Arranging the
examples in a logical and sequential manner is crucial to guide the reader through the argument
smoothly. The transitions between examples and paragraphs must be seamless, enhancing the
overall flow of the essay.
Moreover, maintaining clarity and coherence in language is essential. The writer needs to
articulate ideas with precision and conciseness while avoiding ambiguity. Achieving a balance
between descriptive details and a concise writing style is crucial for effective communication.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the selection of a strong thesis statement that encapsulates
the main argument of the essay. The thesis should be clear, debatable, and capable of guiding the
reader through the subsequent discussion of examples.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Example Exemplification Essay" is a task that
demands a combination of research, critical thinking, organizational skills, and effective
communication. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's ability to find compelling
examples, organize them coherently, and present a well-supported argument. It is a process that
requires time, effort, and a keen understanding of the principles of exemplification.

Tennessee Coal Sludge Disaster Essay
Tennessee Coal Sludge Disaster
What Happened? The largest environmental disaster in U.S. history occurred on
December 22nd, 2008 when a 84 acre pit containing toxic coal combustion residue
at the Tennessee Valley Authority Fossil Plant in Kingston, Tennessee gave way.
According to a report by AECOM, the firm hired to perform the root cause report, a
combination of the high water content of the wet ash, the increasing height of ash,
the construction of the sloping dikes over the wet ash, and the existence of an
unusual bottom layer of ash and silt were among the long evolving conditions that
caused the ash spill at Kingston Fossil Plant (TVA, 2010). The resulting slide sent a
wave of over a billion gallons of sludge out on the ... Show more content on

On top of emitting 1.9 billion tons of carbon dioxide each year, coal fired power
plants in the United States also create 120 million tons of toxic waste. That means
each of the nation s 500 coal fired power plants produces an average 240,000 tons
of toxic waste each year. A power plant that operates for 40 years will leave behind
9.6 million tons of toxic waste (2009). Coal Combustion Residue despite containing
toxic metals such as arsenic, mercury, lead, selenium, and cadmium that are proven
to cause cancer, kidney problems, birth defects, and wreck havoc on the nervous
system. Coal Combustion Residue can is disposed by either being land filled, used
to reclaim mine shafts, or are stored in pits on site of coal burning plants. Even
without a spill these contaminants can leach into the ground and pose a health risk if
they are not disposed of properly.
What was dangerous about this spill? The Tennessee Coal Valley plant in a press
release detailing the extent of the disaster showed the sheer magnitude of this spill,
In just one year, the plant s byproducts included 45,000 pounds of arsenic, 49,000
pounds of lead, 1.4 million pounds of barium, 91,000 pounds of chromium and
140,000 pounds of manganese. Those metals can cause cancer, liver damage
Marxism Revolutionaries
Marxism is a term used to describe, the political and economical theories of Karl
Marx; which was later developed, into the foundation for, communism. Karl Marx
was a world renowned philosopher, who once said capitalism destroyed man . His
criticism of the practice of capitalism has been praised for centuries and is still alive
today, prominently in Cuba. The idea of Marxism brought out social change
throughout the world and has caused a lot of turbulence worldwide. The views of
Capitalism and Marxism sparked controversy and wars between people and countries
that shared the opposing view. One of many people, who praised Marxism for its
authenticity and change, was Fidel Castro. Fidel was the President of Cuba, from
1959, until 2008; when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Duetschmann,p.)
The third most important figure of the Cuban revolution was, Fulgencio Batsista.
Batista was born on January 16, 1901, in Banes Cuba. As he grew older he got an
interest into the army, and traveled to Havana to join the army there; where he was
promoted sergeant and then a union leader. In 1933, he led a coup that eradicated the
government of Gerado Mercado. In 1940, he was elected president, when he won
presidency, he instated, the 1940 constitution of Cuba. The constitution gave, Cubans
a lot of freedoms, like the right to vote and many other individual rights. The
constitution was acclaimed and Batista was praised throughout his political career by
many. (1) After finishing his first presidential term, he ran for president again in
1952: and that was when everything started turning. After winning presidency again,
Batista eradicated many rights given by the 1940 Constitution of Cuba; freedoms like
the right to strike were stripped away from the people of Cuba. He then made a
concurrence with the wealthy farm workers, which resulted, in an economical gap
between the rich and the poor. Unfortunately, the American government was in
support, of his dictatorship, prominently because their relationship with Cuba was
going well. Inevitably, the people of Cuba became upset and started to riot,
What Is The Similarities Between Steve Jobs And Bill Gates
According to The Oxford English Dictionary, the word heroism is expressed as
heroic action or conduct, great bravery; the quality of being a hero (Pearsall, et al.,
2014, para. 1). The word heroism originated from the French word hГ©roГЇsme,
which means heroic actions or conduct (Heroism, n.d.). It can also be defined as
facing challenges or taking risks. However, it is the opposite of cowardice or
weakness. If you take this definition and apply it on Steve Jobsand Bill Gates, you
can see that they have faced challenges and made tough decision throughout their
lives. Although both of them were geniuses that changed the world with their
technology, Steve Jobs was more inspirational.

Jobs used to tell his employees that we do not need to ask what consumers want;
we will observe and show them what they need. As a result, he became an
innovator businessman. Another difference is in their leadership style. Gates was
a charismatic manager that believed in trust between colleagues and clever
agreements. On the other hand, Jobs was a rare, unique leader with a distinctive
personality. He was a criticizer, a perfectionist with an aggressive, demanding
managing style. According to Isaacson (2012), Jobs belongs on the list of America
s great modern leaders. Another difference is the level of challenges each hero
faced before success. While Bill Gates was a University dropout and a former owner
of a failed business, Steve Jobs went through many more hardships. He was
Symptoms, Causes, Prevention, and Treatment of Gingivtis...
Gingivitis is a type of periodontal disease and is when the gums are inflamed. The
gums in the teeth destroy the tissues because of the inflammation and infection
known as periodontal disease (MedlinePlus n. pag.). Gingivitis typically precedes
periodontitis but it is important to understand that not all gingivitisprogresses to
periodontitis ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Most of the time gingivitis is from not brushing
and flossing which may lead to the use of certain drugs and source of medical
disorders. When the gums turn red, swollen, and start bleeding it is usually the sign
of the common disease, gingivitis. Gingivitis is sometimes not detected and barely
causes any pain in the beginning stages. Nevertheless, gingivitis that is not... Show

Just because there are no noticeable symptoms of gingivitis that does not mean it is
not there. In certain people, gum disease may affect only certain teeth, such as the
molars, only a dentist or a periodontist can identify and decide the progression of
gum disease ( Gum Disease n. pag.). Above all, the effect of long standing plaque
deposits is what causes gingivitis. A sticky material made of bacteria, mucus, and
food debris that grows on the parts of the teeth that are visible is called plaque.
Plaque is a major factor of tooth decay and without removal it turns into a hard
deposit called tartar. Plaque is the primary cause of gum disease, however other
factors can contribute to gum disease as well (MedlinePlus n. pag.).
Other factors that contribute to gum disease are plaque induced gingivitis, drug
induced gingivitis, and gingivitis due to vitamin deficiency, gingivitis due to
infections, gingivitis due to pregnancy, gingivitis due to menopause, gingivitis due to
leukemia, and gingivitis due to an impacted tooth (Pericoronitis). The most common
cause of gingivitis is plaque induced gingivitis which is from lack of brushing and
flossing. When different drugs cause gum tissue to overgrow, so that eliminating
plaque becomes nearly impossible and sometimes develops gingivitis it is called
drug induced gingivitis. Another cause of gingivitis, in rare cases, is vitamin
deficiencies. Many small white or yellow sores that form inside the mouth and the

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Paper
Solution focused brief therapy was originally formed by Steve de Shazer and Insoo
Kim Berg (Corey, 2013). However, in the 1980s, Steve de Shazer joined forces with
other therapists because of he was not satisfied with the strategic model. Solution
focused brief therapy focuses on solutions instead of problems during the therapeutic
session. Just like the title, solution focused brief therapy, is considerably brief. In this
paper, I will talk about the solution focused brief therapy techniques that I will use in
my work setting.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy Techniques in My Work Setting
Pretherapy Change Pretherapy change would be very valuable in my work setting
as a counselor. Setting up an appointment with a counselor can promote positive
change (Corey, 2013). During the first initial therapy session, I would ask the client
if they have experienced any change from the time they called me for an
appointment, until the first session. From this, I can see if the client has had any
positive changes. If so, this will help my client rely less on me as a counselor and
rely more solely on their own capabilities to help with treatment goals. Furthermore, I
would like to incorporate exception questions into my work setting.

These so called times in a client s life are called exceptions. I would ask my client
exception questions, so that I can direct them to a time when the problem was not
present. This technique would be beneficial to my clients because they can
understand that the problems they have now, have not existed forever. I will help my
clients understand and identify their exceptions, which will increase the chances of a
solution. This will promote even more positive change in my clients. Therefore, I will
add another technique to my
Disadvantages Of Lemon And Lime
From the citrus fruit family, lemon and lime just like their cousins oranges and
grape are rich in vitamin C and many other minerals. They are both acidic and taste
sour but are alkaline to the body when you drink their juice. The yellow peel of
lemon has an essential oil known as limonene.
THE NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF LEMON AND LIME
Lemon and lime are rich in vitamin C, B6, folate, potassium, phytochemical,
flavonoids and limonene. This essential oil Limonene helps to promote the
production of those enzymes that detoxify carcinogens and has been seen to have anti
cancer properties.

Nourish your skin: When you rub a lemon peel to dry or scaly skin it will
immediately be nourished and the skin will be soft and supple in a short time
because of the moisture added to it.
Reduce swollen gums: You can relief your swollen gums by drinking a mixture of
a pinch of sea salt and freshly squeezed lime juice (diluted). You can also use the

Thermoregulation Mechanism in the Human Body
Previous studies have not considered the temperature control mechanisms of human
body when a conflicting information is received from peripheral and central
thermoreceptors. Our experiment was designed to investigate how the
thermoregulation mechanism was activated when there was a passive heating to the
human body and to find out how the body would react to the situation when the
human was experiencing the heating and cooling simultaneously. Our first
hypothesis was accepted, where the body regulated cutaneous vasodilation to
enhance heat loss through sweat evaporation and all the respiratory parameters
were increased in order to supply the higher demand of oxygen. However, the
second hypothesis was rejected, as the peripheral control had more influence than
central control when the body received increased temperature to the leg and
decreased temperature at the same time. Heating period The results have clearly
demonstrated that during the heating period, there was a decrease in skin resistance
and total peripheral resistance (TPR) alongside an increase in heart rate (HR),
cardiac output (CO) and peripheral skin temperature, as compared to the relatively
stable core and oral temperature, shown in figures 6, 7, 9 and 12. The metabolic rate
and respiratory parameters (Respiratory rate, oxygen consumption, tidal volume and
minute ventilation) were also increased as seen in figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. A
significant decrease in respiratory rate and minute ventilation at 30 min of
Fostering Connections Act
Introduction One of the greatest challenges for child welfare workers for years has
been how to serve the unique needs of the older youth in foster care and of those
who have aged out of foster care. The term aging out refers to youth that are forced
to exit foster care at the age of 18 because they have reached age defined adulthood
(NASW Press, 2015). The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing
Adoptions Act of 2008 attempts to meet those needs by providing states with the
option to support youth who are transitioning from foster careto adulthood. The
Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 is a child
welfare bill that was designed to achieve greater permanence and improve the well
being of children served by child welfare agencies (Stoltzfus, 2008).
For the purpose of this policy analysis, we will focus on section 201 and 202 of the
Fostering Connections Act which focuses on locating and strengthening supports for
children whose permanency goal is independent living. Prior to this act, these
children were often emancipated from foster care because they had reached the age
of 18 rather than because they were in a permanent placement. This act allows states
to have the option to provide care and support to youth in foster care ... Show more

Young adults who age out of the foster care system are also more likely to have
physical, medical, and mental health challenges compared to the majority of young
adults (Fostering Connections Summary, 2010). While all young adults eventually
face issues such as supporting themselves financially, finding stable housing, and
acquiring health insurance, most young adults have the assistance and support of a
family unlike foster youth that age out of the child welfare system (Older Youth and

Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal
The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift
who is also known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of
satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation,
Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards
the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic
families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to these
conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but
derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his
solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of
Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with
poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation
is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of
feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of
the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from
paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase
employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift
concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does
not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country,

The Giver Dystopia Essay
To me a utopia cannot be achieved, a utopia would be perfect world where everyone
is satisfied. A dystopia can be very far from perfect, as it is in The Giver. The world
in The Giver by Lois Lowry is a dystopia because no world anywhere can ever be
perfect, the people who live there will never be truly happy and because without
choice life can be very boring, as it is in The Giver.
The world in The Giver is not perfect because nothing can really be perfect. It is
almost impossible to think of a perfect world, and if you do there will always be a
flaw in one way or another to someone. The world can never truly satisfy the needs
of everyone. As Hannah Montana once said, Nobody s perfect , I guess she was

Also they will never experience the weather and nature and so many other things
that we have in our world that make us so happy and so in love. Without these
things this will most likely make the people who live in the community very
depressed and sad. This is shown here when Jonas experiences true happiness, love
and family, What did you perceive? The Giver asked. Warmth, JonГ
Ўs replied, and
happiness. And let me think. Family. That it was a celebration of some sort, a
holiday. And something else I can t quite get the word for it ... They were called
Grandparents (Lowry 123). In this moment Jonas experiences warmth, family and
love. He sees the new true meaning of happiness because he is able to compare it to
the pain and loss he went through before. Mostly all of the people who live in The
Giver community cannot experience happiness like this. They can not compare the
happiness and warmth they (don t) experience to the pain and loss that they (don t)
experience.
The community in The Giver is also not a utopia because without choice you can not
have goals and therefore have nothing to strive for, and life can become very boring.
In The Giver the people that live in the community have no choices. They cannot
choose their own jobs and they cannot see color which limits their choices. Without
such choices the
What Is Edward s Personality

Twilight , written by Stephenie Meyer, is a fantasy fiction novel that shows that
there may be more than what meets the eye in the small town of Forks. It tells of a
seventeen year old girl named Bella who falls for a boy named Edward who has
been seventeen years old for far too long. Edward is a vampire and throughout the
novel his strong personality traits become more and more prominent. He is an
oddity, both a man of compassion and of terror. Edward is dangerous and yet he is
filled with a strong desire to protect those he loves. He wears a metaphorical mask to
keep himself hidden from society. Underneath the mask is a man of great importance

It is directly stated that Edward is dangerous and dazzling, cryptic and curious, and
most of all beautiful. He is sarcastic, intimidating, and has a tendency to be
unpredictable. Although many of his characterizations are directly stated many of
them are not. Edward is indirectly characterized as being secretive, mysterious and
observant. Through his behavior towards Bella, Edward can be indirectly
characterized as protective. The way he stares at Bella show that he is intense and
the way he is able to stop a car from crashing with just his hands shows his strength.
Even Edward s tone or mannerisms such as shaking his head show that he is
humorous. In a movie version of the book an actor would need to capture the true
essence of Edward. Thankfully the character of Edward was accurately portrayed by
the actor Robert Pattinson when the book was produced into a movie. Without all of
Edward s personality traits any version of Twilight would be bland and
The Mafia Organized Crime
The Mafia
The Mafia is a type of organized crime syndicate. Organized crime is a certain type
of crime that is neatly executed and well planned out. When a group, like the mafia,
attends in organized crime, it almost always involves illegal activity and is for a
profit of some sort. Other times the mafia collects money or dues from a shopkeeper
for the protection of his/her business by the mafia. For example, if a store s owner
came to the head mobster and ask for protection the store would there for be
protected from other gangs for as long as the owner pays their dues.
Organized crime groups also provide a range of illegal services and goods. Some of
the most common mobster activities were loan sharking as well as assassinations.

Determining The Optimal Price For The Uricap Products
Pricing
To determine the optimal prices for the UriCap products, the team used competitive
pricing, both indirect and direct, custom willingness to pay, cost plus pricing based on
distribution channel partner needs, and economic value analysis. Direct competitor
pricing, which was only applicable to the UriCap M product, was determine through
secondary research. On the other hand, primary research was used to determine
indirect competitor, or substitute, pricing. A combination of primary research and
secondary research was used during economic value analysis while customer
willingness to pay (WTP) was determined through an online survey.
Willingness to Pay
To better understand customer s willingness to pay, a survey was developed and
given to hospital and nursing home professionals who had some knowledge of the
cost of care. Since most care givers are removed from the financial side of the
business, it proved rather difficult to find participants willing to take the survey. With
that said, ten professionals completed the survey which, along with the results, can be
seen in their entirety in the Appendix and provided spreadsheet.
The survey contained two sets of questions. The first set was designed to gain and
understand of what the customers thought they were currently paying for urinary
incontinence care. This included the actual cost of diaper and catheters, as well as
secondary costs such as the cost of nurse/care giver time and the cost of infection

How Does Dillard Use Similes In Tinker s Creek
In Virginia, there is a place called Tinker s Creek. Dillard often goes to this creek
for experiences with nature. During one of these trips, she has a little snippet of
the revelation, which makes her see the beauty and the ugliness of the world
together thus giving more meaning to life. In this passage, Dillard uses
symbolism, verb choice and similes to explain how she views life with more
meaning. She starts by using words like lost, sunk which shows the lack of
understanding as she looks towards Tinker Creek. All of a sudden, she sees what
looks like a Martian spaceship . She uses simile to compare what she sees as

further emphasizes a lack of direction because the wind goes in a circle, in a

Further into the scripture, it says that one cannot figure out where it comes from

compared to the other one is unpredictable and goes where its heart takes it. She
bids the maple key good luck as it flies away. Life is unique to the maple leaf which
Homelessness Is An Arising Problem Within The United
States
Homelessness in America
SOC331: Social Justice and Ethics
Professor Ashraf Esmail
Rebecca McRunnel
March 8, 2015
Homelessness is an arising problem within the United States. Poverty and
homelessness are inheritably linked. As children we were raised to believe that
through hard work and determination that we could accomplish anything. We all
had dreams of having nice cars, a nice home and lots of money, however this is
impossible when a person is living pay check to pay check and close to being
homeless. Knowing that we live in the land of opportunity brings many dreams to
anyone s mind, however, many families are experiencing financial issues that are
causing them to become homeless because they cannot afford to live and pay their
bills, food, child care, health care and education (National Coalition of the homeless,
2007). Homelessness in America is persistent, complex and widely occurring
problem that incorporates many economic, social and psychological dimensions
(National Coalition of the homeless, 2007). With the shortage of affordable rental
property is causing the increasing number of poverty families. Homelessness doesn t
only affect an adult but it does affect many children. In America, 3.5 million
Americans are homeless each year. However, of these Americans that are homeless
children make up more than 1 million people who are homeless (Home Aid America ,
n.d.). With children and many families that are homeless, veterans, and domestic
War Is Kind Analysis
War is seen as disturbing, violent, depressing and stressful. Although some may
think of it as honorable or may even welcome their own death in a war because of
the glory that can come with it, others believe in the protest against the brutal acts of
war. Several writers such as Stephen Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin
Powers are especially known to protest against warthrough their forms of writing. In
order to strengthen their arguments and persuade audiences to prevent acts of war,
they use techniques such as imagery, irony and structure to reveal the disturbing
truths behind war. Imagery is one of the most powerful tools that writers try to use
when protesting war because it serves as a simpler way to present clearer images...

Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it
can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets
up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style
that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the
topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then
the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each
of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their
writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities
that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs,
wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt
tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment
Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to
help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them
and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. O Brien
also uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by
creating a feeling of repetitiveness.
Should Competitive Dance Be Considered A Sport Essay
On average, an hour of dance can burn about 300 calories as opposed to an hour of
cricket, which only burns 270 calories (CalorieLab). However, despite both this and
countless other facts, competitive dance is still not considered to be a sport. Dancers
train for hours upon hour through sweat, blood, and tears just as many athletes do.
Similar to any other sport, competitive dancerequires its participants to go head to
head against each other in intense competitions. Even though a large number of
people don t see it as one, competitive dance should be considered a sport as it
follows the definition of one.

similarity that dance has with countless other sports including, but not limited to,

Henry David Thoreau Accomplishments
What you get by achieving goals is not as important as what you become by

definition of a goal. They may take a long time to complete; however, just have faith

new world, even though he always thought that the world was flat. The world has
always been a place of innovation and discovery. One of the many personal
accomplishments I would like to have is to travel and learn about the world. All the

The Determinants Of The National Business Environment
Essay
To better understand why some nations are more competitive than others, Porter
conducted the research in order to look for determinants in the national business
environment that can explain why in some countries firms in particular industries are
more successful than those in other nations . (Ard Pieter de Man, 1997, p. 48) The
research culminated in framework known as diamond which describes the
determinants of competitive advantage. Porter identified four attributes that promote
or impede the creation of competitive advantage: (1) factor conditions, (2) demand
conditions, (3) related and supporting industries, and (4) firm strategy, structure, and
rivalry . (Dirk Morschett, 2015, p. 176)
Factor conditions, represents the nation s factors of production, such as climate, land,
natural resources, skilled labor and infrastructure. Demand conditions, refers to the
nature and size of the domestic demand for an industry s products and services (Dirk
Morschett, 2015, p. 178). Related and supporting industries determinant refers to the
existence or non existence in the national environment related suppliers and other
industries that are competitive in international markets. Firm strategy, structure and
rivalry, refers to how companies are created, organized and managed, as well as the
nature of domestic rivalry (Porter, 1990b, p. 81) Analyzing China and Egypt in terms
of the competitiveness will help to better understand how the diamond framework
works.

At Stamford Bridge, he won a decisive victory on 25th September, in which Harald
Hard1rada and Tostig were both killed. But after that, Harold s sick, exhausted Saxon
army met William s fresh, rested Norman troops on October 14th at Battle near
Hastings, and the great battle began. That was the moment when King Harold was
killed and the Normans gained control of England. On Christmas Day 1066, William
was crowned King of England.
The Norman Conquest had important consequences on all levels, including the
linguistic one. English phonetics, vocabulary, morphology and also syntax were
influenced by French, but, despite the historical and social background, the mother
tongue survived and adapted, reestablishing itself after 1200.

At the moment, the conquest probably came as a disaster for the English people, as
the Normans brought their new territory under control with systematic rigour. After
the English royal family had been destroyed in the battle, the new king established his
own regime. At the time, Normandy had an advanced feudal system of political
organisation, which accelerated the establishment of feudalism in Britain. Moreover,
most of the representatives of the native nobility were eliminated and a French
speaking monarchy, aristocracy and clerical hierarchy took over. Thus, the important
positions and the great estates were mostly in

and Texas for those last of the hardcore video renters . Blockbuster will soon be

Netflix is currently utilized in 190 countries and projecting expansion to over 200
countries within the next two years. CEO Reed Hastings and CFO David Wells wrote
to their investors stating: Progress has been so strong that we now believe we can
complete our global expansion over the next two years, while staying profitable,
which is earlier than we expected . Strategically, Netflix decided that now is time to
expand globally. As a result, Netflix ended the year of 2014 with a total of 57.39
million subscribers increasing from 44.35 million in 2013.
Even though Netflix is successful in revenue and expanded globally, it is vital for
the organization to create a SWOT analysis which stands for a company s strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (Abraham, 2012). Netflix does have a
competitive market such as Amazon.com and Hulu that are becoming more popular
with their lower monthly pricing. They also have a more simplified catalogue of
consumer favorite new titled movies and TV shows. In order for Netflix to stay
competitive with a strong strategic plan, let s take a look at the SWOT to identify
what the best course of actions would be to increase and/or sustain the current
procedure for the benefit of the company, its employees and the satisfaction of it
consumers.

Comparing Baroque Styles Of Art And Deliverry Of The
Cross
High Renaissance and Baroque Styles The Renaissance and Baroque are two
difference styles of art, but they play an important role in the history of art. Based
on the five concepts in Wolfflin s Principles of Art History to compare and contrast
two artworks: Delivery of the Keys (about 1481 1482) by Pietro Perugino, which is
created with high Renaissance style, and Raising of the Cross (about 1610 1611) by
Peter Paul Rubensis created with Baroquestyle.

Gender Pay Gap for Women Athletes Essay
Traditionally men have dominated the world of sports however in recent year s
women s sports have become popular and with their new found popularity, women s
sports have evolved into marketable leagues of their own. Although women s sports
took a huge leap forward, women players still don t receive the same financial
compensation for playing the same sports in the same arenas as their male
counterparts. In Purse Snatching by Donna Lopiano, she points out sexism may have

However, the issue that has been confronted is the barrier to being treated equally

Beowulf Anglo Saxon Values
In the epic Beowulf translated by Burton Raffel, Beowulf exemplifies values that
embody the ideals of the Anglo Saxon culture. Some of these ideals are expressed
through actions and words, while others can be expressed through the characters
thoughts and appearance. The anglo saxon culture respects bravery and they also
value strength. Beowulfshows these attributes throughout the story and there are
many examples of his character.
Beowulf said, I battled and bound five beasts, raided a troll nest and in the night
sea, slaughtered brutes. I have suffered extremes and avenged the Geats (their
enemies brought it upon themselves, I devastated them). Now I mean to be a match
for Grendel. From this quote, we can assume that Beowulf speaks with authority
and is extremely confident. He uses elaborate speech to describe his own power and
skill and we can tell that he is a great warrior because of what he said he has done. ...

That way he can get the respect from the people right away. An example of one

Juxtaposition In The Doctor And Doctor s Wife
10.In 1) The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife , Hemingway uses juxtaposition and
diction to craft the text. He reveals the strained relationship between the husband and
wife in this story through their dialogue and the way the speak to each other. For
example, when the wife asks about his argument with Dick Boulton, he is vague and
says nothing is wrong. She replies saying, Tell me, Henry. Please don t try and keep
anything from me (Hemingway 26). This displays how their relationship consisted of
distrust and secrets, mainly on the doctors part. The dialogue like this throughout the

Time to Put an End to Affirmative Action Essay
Time to Put an End to Affirmative Action
Affirmative action is the set of public policies and initiatives designed to help
eliminate past and present discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or
national origin. This set of public policies has had quite a history beginning with the
Thirteenth Amendment, which made slavery illegal. The Thirteenth Amendment was
followed by the Fourteenth, that guarantees equal protection under the law. The
Fifteenth Amendment brought up the rear, which forbids racial discriminationin
access to voting. When affirmative action was set into place during the 1960 s it was
needed and very necessary. Although in history the need for affirmative action is

Roosevelt signed Executive Order 8802 which outlawed segregationist hiring
policies by defense related industries which held federal contacts (Sykes, 1995).
This order was brought about because of the actions of a Black trade union leader,
A. Philip Randolph. During Harry Truman s second term, in 1953, his Committee
on Government Contract Compliance urged the Bureau of Employment Security
to act positively and affirmatively to implement the policy of nondiscrimination
(ibid). Finally, after 58 years, the Supreme Court overturned Plessy v. Ferguson,
and therefore the separate, but equal doctrine with Brown v. Board of Education in
1954. The term affirmative action was first used in 1965 by President Lyndon
Johnson in Executive Order 11246, which mandated federal employees to take
affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are
treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national
origin (ibid). This Executive Order was expanded 2 years later, in 1967, to include
affirmative action requirements to cover women. There were two more laws passed
in the 1960 s to make discrimination illegal. The first of which was the 1964 Civil

Mexican American Cultural Revival
Cultural revival refers to the resilience of unique traditions or group identities from
the past for current social and political affairs. People recover the loss of vital ethnic
practices due to forced or voluntary relocation, colonization or oppression in the past.
The process of cultural revival such as consolidating political identity, personal rights
and recognition often consciously or unconsciously associated with the minorities.
The adaptation of past musical elements and genre into prevailing events in the
society. Huelga song is a great example in illustrating the cultural revival of corridos,
and plays an important role in U.S. American music.
The word huelga means strike in English. Similarly, huelga songs have the traits of
articulating political consciousness among the minorities, and the songs are
composed entirely in Spanish. During the 1960s, when the Chicano Movement

Imbalance Of Power In Nursing
It is very important to maintain a healthy balance of power between nurse and the
patients. Imbalance of power may have many negative outcomes and impacts on
patient s healthcare. In comparison with the service users , nurses can be placed in
a more powerful position because of many factors such as knowledge,
occupational status, nurses not lying in the bed feeling pain and fear like the
patients (Buckley et al. 2016). Nurses have to understand what the concept of
power means which will have an outcome in the efficacious of care. Also giving
more power to patients by spreading the knowledge will encourage them to
participate in self care (McMahon 1990). Clover et al. (2004) state that some of the
patients being in the position where there was a lack of the power often escaped to
the passive role where they were negotiating the rules of the nursing care provided.
However, in some occasions the power between the nurses and their patients is not
properly understood. In a palliative care management, the power in meaning of the
control is very important for the patients, so deep analysis and understanding is
necessary in this case (Morgan 2001). According to Henderson (2003) the ideal power
giving in the nurse s opinion is decision making with patients and sharing important
information. Although some of the nurses believed that their opinion is the most
important as they are the clinical experts and rather unwishful to share decisions
together with their clients. When

these composers studied, almost all of it had a huge impact on variations.

melody itself remained the same, the harmonic background changed frequently

Importance Of The Human Genome Project
The Importance Of The Human Genome Project
The Human Genome Project(HGP) provided valuable information that changed
biology and medicine. Beginning in the 1990 s a research project was created with
the intent of determining the sequence of nucleotide base pairs that made up human
DNA. The Collaboration was key to completing this project, it was an international
project that required, funding, certain technologies, and research methods. The
Human Genome project provided important information that benefited medical
science. This project helped scientist understand different genetic diseases that
plagued mankind and opened the doors to many other scientific findings. Although
the Human Genome Project was met with initial resistance it has proved to be
significant in many aspects of science. The Human Genome project was widely
anticipated, the possibility of understanding human disease, causes of disease, and
human evolution was at the forefront of science. In 1985 a project was formally
proposed with the goal of determining the complete nucleotide sequence of the human
genome. Although the proposal had the possibility to change science it was met with
much resistance. The main concern was privacy of genetic information, educating
health care professionals, and ethical issues involving the design of genetic research.

The Dark Side Of The Perfectly Manicured American Lawn
One way that authors attempt to get their readers to think about the environment is
by drawing attention to the fact that people harm it. For example, in The Dark Side of
the Perfectly Manicured American Lawn: Is It Giving You Cancer? the author talks
about the common herbicide 2,4 D and writes, At first, its impact on humans seems
mild skin and eye irritation, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, stiffness in the arms and
legs, (Jenkins, 2016). In the event that these symptoms aren t off putting enough, the
author then claims that 2,4 D can actually cause cancerin humans because it
stimulates extremely rapid cell growth (Jenkins, 2016). I don t know about you, but I
think that trading your health for an attractive yard sounds like a very poor... Show

Gene Stratton Porter uses this technique in her book, Moths of the Limberlost.
Instead of talking about chemicals and pesticides and the dangers of using then,
Stratton Porter gets us to think about the environment by promoting it. Then the
Winter Swamp had all the lacy exquisite beauty of such locations when snow and
frost draped, while from May until October it was practically tropical jungle, she
writes (Citation here). Not only does she focus on the land and plants, but she also
talks about the animals that live in this swamp, primarily moths, calling them, fragile
night wanderers and moonflowers of June s darkness (Citation here). The Limberlost
Swamp sounds like a beautiful place that you would want to visit, right? Of course,
the hidden implication is that you can t, or at least not unless humans change the way
we treat the environment.
An additional technique used by authors to motivate readers to treat the
environment well is using fictional works to get their message across. A well
known example of this is The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. When you read this story as a
kid, you may not realize that the story intentionally mirrors our world today, but
eventually you realize that it isn t just about truffalump trees being cut down; it s
about real ones: pine trees and oaks and sycamores, to name a few. The humming
fish mentioned in the story may not exist in real life, but we are harming actual fish
by polluting our rivers with dangerous
Multiracial Identity in Essays by Julia Alvarez and Danzy...
Multiracial Identity in Essays by Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna
The essays of Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna address issues of multiracial identity
important in their younger years as they grew up daughters of a multiethnic and
multiracial background. Despite the slight generational differences, the same issues
are as important today as they were twenty or thirty years ago. The concept of one
being multiracial is a relatively new concept. In the past, a person with a mixed racial
background could not reasonably claim a mixed heritage openly, one had to identify
with one or the either. Those that could not do that usually found themselves isolated
from either background. This is made apparent in American literature through ...

Yet, this new embracement of multicultural is due more to commercial manipulation
rather than an increasing acceptance of the evolving racial equation. One example is
the popularity of Latin music. In the last past two years, the popularity of Latin
music has exploded and along with it, the careers of people like Ricky Martin,
Christina Aguilera, and Enrique Inglesias. Some of these people claim a mixed racial
heritage and accordingly, it seems apparent that a more tolerant and even accepting
time in history has come for those of a mixed heritage. Indeed, many entertainers now
come to fame based in part on having a mixed racial heritage. However, Latin music
has been around for many years and its emergence in the mainstream is unlikely to be
due to a more liberal attitude towards multicultural, multiethnic themes. The recent,
newly found popularity demonstrates more of a realization that companies can
exploit multiracialism for a profit. Commercialism exploits and co opts the theme of
multiculturalism in the name of profit. It glamorizes people who reveal their
multicultural or multiracial background and makes them look exotic. However, it is
imperative to understand, that these motives are not high minded. It is simply for
profit and record sales, that corporations have encouraged outlets for multicultural
and multiracial diversity. Senna notes in her
My Strength and Weakness in Composition Writing Class
This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this
class last year but I had to drop it because I didn t have a professor explaining the
work to me. And I really didn t understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared
to take this class. During my high school years I wasn t that good of a writer. I
thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes thought it was
hard in high school. My writingexperience was good and sometimes bad. This
semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses.
These strengths and weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making
while writing essays this semester. My first writing weakness was deciding what to
write about. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was really happy that I didn t have trouble filling up those pages. This contributed to
my essay writing because it showed me that if I don t give and try my best I will be
able to do it. It also showed me to always think positive, if I m always thinking of
negative stuff I won t be able to set my mind free and try my best in the stuff I do.
Another strength I had was finding the symbols in the short story ВЁThe
LotteryВЁ. When I first read it I didn t find any symbols. After Mrs. Philpott gave
us the lesson on symbolism in literature I found many symbols. I also saw how
those symbols give the readers clues so we could get a clue of how the ending is. I
won t forget about this lesson and when I read books I m going to pay close
attention to the words. If I pay attention to that maybe I will get a taste of how the
ending is going to be. This was one of the lesson I enjoyed the most. This
contributed because this is something I m going to know for the rest of my life.
The third writing strength I had was that I didn t have trouble with the quotes. We
had a lesson over how we had to add the quotes on the essay. That lesson helped my
mind refresh from what I had learned during high school. I wasn t completely lost
on this, but had to pay attention. I was a little scared because it said that if I
plagiarized I would get a zero and possibly fail the semester. I personally think that
we the writers don t really try to plagiarize. The only thing
Monarch Butterfly Research Papers
The monarch butterfly is one of the most familiar species, and is considered
important because of its pollinating skills. This species is most recognizable for is
black, orange, and white wings. The monarch butterflies wings change colors from
orange to a deep red, from beginning to the end of migration. This butterfly
population has been decreasing over the last ten years, and are predicted to be
quasi extinct over the next 20 years. These butterflies keep warm by opening their
wings up to the sun. Males have a different appearance than the female butterflies
such as they are much bigger in size, and the black veins on their wings are narrower
than those of a female. The monarch butterfly has six legs, but only uses four. They

Applied Behavior Analysis Model
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a type of systematic instruction using seven
dimensions to be considered ABA. The seven dimensions are as follows; applied,
behavioral, analytic, conceptual, technological, effective, and generality (Leach, 2014)
There are a multitude of strategies to teach the ABA paradigm. The following essay
shall discuss different methods of teaching ABA. One strategy used in ABA is most
to least prompting. Most to least prompting starts with a single physical prompt. The
most to least prompting is a faded prompting system. Most to least prompting has
three levels of prompts; physical, model, and independent (Collins, 2012). An
example of most to least prompting would be teaching a student to start washing
machine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two strategies that can be used to incorporate nontargeted information. The
first strategy is to add content to instructional trial. An example would be to include
sight words into lessons for reading. The second strategy would be observational
learning. Observational learning is when students learn through observation. The
teacher is a facilitator in observational learning. By incorporating nontargeted
information into lesson plans teachers are becoming more efficient because the
teacher is saving instructional time (Collins, 2012) Another strategy used in ABA is
shaping. Shaping requires the teacher to reward students, as they get closer to the
desired behavior. The thinking behind shaping is the student will continue to be
motivated to achieve the next step. Teachers are able to use shaping to set short term
goals then build on them (Leach, 2014). An example of shaping is teaching a student
how to brush his/her teeth. The teacher would reward the student for each step the
student does. First, the student would get a reward for getting the toothbrush. Then
for putting toothpaste on, and turning on the faucet. The shaping would continue
until the student is able to brush his/her teeth without
Analysis of a Paint Called Memorialized by Tyanna Buie
Thomas Merton once said Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the
same time . This is completely true. Throughout the semester we have gone
through almost as many as 300 pictures we view, learn, decompose into the criteria
it meets and talk about the controversial things it has, while we do this we don t
recognize that we also identify the form, content, iconography, and context. All
four areas are what the paint, picture or sculptures identity is. I was lucky enough
to visit my buddy out at WIU. There are many works in the art gallery, around the
union and even outside walking around, but one that did catch my attention and
had me thinking about it for quite some time. It was a painting called
Memorialized by Tyanna Buie, was made in 2011 and measures 38 x50 . The
content it has is beautiful, the form is wicked, context is superb and iconography
is permanent. It reminds me of artwork we ve gone through the semester. The
painting was being showed at the art gallery in end of March. It s now May and I
can still picture it in my head so detailed, without even looking at a picture of it. It
s a piece of work I have connected to, yet lost myself in. This painting shows
around five colors being used; red, green gold, pink and white. These colors mean
so much in every day life. The form shows how lines play a big role in the body as
they re symmetric all around the torso, but when connected to the head it seems to
turn into scribbles that look like flowers

Insecurity In Othello
In her article To Love the Moor : Postcolonial Artists Write Back to Shakespeare s
Othello , Claire Chambers discusses the many adaptations of Williams Shakespeare s
Othello. Othello is just one example of a what Shakespeare is known for, writing
plays that deals with themes that are uniquely human and extend beyond any
geographical location or time period. Chambers writes about how during Shakespeare
s time, there was great hostility towards the great number of Negroes and
blackamoors that resided in England, and this resentment greatly influenced
Shakespeare s writings. Othellodeals with this issue of race, as well as many others
including gender, greed, jealousy and identity. The main character of this play is

While Othello once came across as loving and extremely affectionate towards
Desdemona, when his jealousy takes over, he becomes blinded by rage. This
anger finally shows itself to her in Act 4, after he has already made the decision to
kill her. When they are speaking with Ludovico and he claims I think, they do
command him home/Deputing Cassio in his government , Desdemona replies
Trust me, I am glad on t (IV.i.263 264;265). Othello, becoming so frustrated by
what he believes her to be implying, strikes her and calls her a devil. Then, in her
shock and confusion, Desdemona meekly leaves, claiming she doesn t want to
offend him. Desdemona, though she is confused as to the reasoning, believes that
she must have done something wrong for him to treat her so. This reaction lines up
strongly with the reaction of abuse victims to inter partner violence. It s common
for them to blame themselves for their spouses destructive behavior, even when it s
obviously just an act of cruelty and domination. This sense of power and control
that Othello feels he has to assert over Desdemona escalates to the point that he
feels justified it is his right to take her life. This belief stems from growing up in a
world where women are considered a man s property, in conjunction with his own
desensitization to violence and death from his time at
The Recognition-Primed Decision Making Model
Honestly, and for all intentional purposes in my previous organizations uncertainties
were dealt with at the required level.
One example was when Triple Canopy entered into contractual negotiations with the
Marine Corps Chain of Command for security operations in Helmand Province. The
US Army has extensive experience working in conjunction with various security
companies for security operations, however with the Marines this was a whole new
experience so there were wide range of uncertainties. Those were dealt with at the
appropriate level of the managerial team, now how the Executive team dealt with
those uncertainties would only be known by the parties involved. Project Manager,

Now it is important to keep in mind that decisions evolve with circumstances some
decisions are made simply with more time to decide and others require quick if then

rapid decisions that needs to be made under pressure. (Fred, 2008)
Law enforcement and security personnel at times make decisions with very little
information available and even less, time (Fred, 2008)
At a personal level I have over twenty seven years military service in a wide range of
military units (to include law enforcement) in both non hostile and hostile
environments. I ve conducted security operations with also with a wide range of
professional security companies, again in both hostile and non hostile environments.
Therefore, at my level and the level of most operators is that decisions can be made
without elaborate tables or brain storming sessions, we process information rapidly
and fluidly since time can be a crucial factor in the
Hamlet, Play and the Movie Essay examples
Hamlet is a tragic play, written by William Shakespeare between 1599 and 1602,
but as years have gone by, there have been made many movies produced in order to
visually illustrate how the events of the play occurred. This allows the film director
s interpretation of Hamlet to have an effect on the audience s understanding of the
play, because they understand the play the same way as the director. One of the
most significant act and scene in the whole play is Act I Scene V. The film work of
Hamletorchestrated by the director really focuses on being exactly as the written play
by William Shakespeare. The written work of Hamlet and the movie directed by
Franco Zeffirelli have many similar scenes. Act I Scene V is one of the most important

In movie version of Hamlet there is a lot of emphasis put into the feelings Hamlet has
towards his mother. During the movie, there is lot of physical presence shown on
screen when Hamlet and his Gertrude begin to argue. The interpretation of Franco
Zeffirelli propose that further plot development due to the fact that Hamlet s character
is being given more internal conflict to overcome, which also connects to the
hypothesis that Gibson s Hamlet is stronger, both physically and mentally, in
comparison to the original Hamlet.
Also, Gibson s Hamlet being stronger shows the impact of the setting on the story
of Hamlet, because everyone cast appears either healthier or stronger than one
would imagine them from Shakespeare s original Hamlet. Plus, in the original play
there are references made about the heavy headed revel that causes other nations to
clepe us drunkards and with swinish phrase (Hamlet I.iv.21 23). Shakespeare s
Hamlet is becoming enraged thinking about his Uncle tarnishing the reputation of
his nation with his excessive drinking and partying. However, Gibson s Hamlet
shows an efficiently operating town with broken barriers between social classes and
small gardens and farms. In the original Hamlet not a lot of information is given
about the general public, but what is known is that Hamlet does not mix with
paupers except for the traveling theater group. The two pictures of Hamlet s world

Internal Conflicts in Master Harold... and the Boys by...
Most people cannot see reality as it truly is from their eyes. In Athol Fugard s
Master Harold... and the Boys, he shows the apartheid between blacks and whites
in South Africa. While some of these white people wanted to end apartheid, other
people who lived with apartheid for their whole lives do not see the wrongs with
it. These people want change, but do not know that they are the issue which is
known as a psychological barrier. In the play, Athol Fugard uses Willie who struggles
with a psychological barrier, how Wille s psychological barrier motivates his actions
and how Willie s barrier is altered by the end of the play to prove how Willie is
affected negatively by apartheid. Willie is a very dynamic character in Master

Also, he likes to beat Hilda a great amount because of his insecureness. Sam: You hit
her too much. One day she s going to leave you for good . Willie: So? She makes me
the hell in too much (Fugard, Page 7). Willie feels powerless with Harold controlling
him so he chooses to gain some power by beating Hilda. His beatings of Hilda gives
him power in that he controls Hilda like how Harold controls him. Even though
Willie s psychological barrier motivates most of his actions, his psychological barrier
was altered by the end of the play. Willie s psychological barrier was cracked by Sam
at the end of the play. Willie: Me? Spit at me like I was a dog? (A thought that had
not occurred to him before) (Fugard, Page 57). Sam asked Willie how he would
feel if he was spat on by Harold. Willie s psychological barrier started to rip in half.
He started to see what really was going on between him and Harold. He started to
see how Harold had been taking advantage of him and the control of Harold on
him. Willie let loose and became rebellious. He did not want to be under Harold s
control anymore. Along with stopping Harold s control on him, he realized what
he should do next with Hilda. You right. I think about it and you right. Tonight I
find Hilda and say sorry. And make promise I won t beat her no more (Fugard, Page
60). Since he broke out of Harold s control, he does not need to beat Hilda anymore.
The only reason why he beat Hilda was

The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human
Body
Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self,
allowing it to stay at one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin
detect changes in the external temperature. They pass this information to the
processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is a processing centre in
the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of sending out signals to
other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose bumps,
sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing
when hot and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control
its preferred temperature, this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a
good speed keeping you healthy and stable.
Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t
be able to function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has
many ways of cooling and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the
physiologic functions such as thirst, hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation
and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all will suffer causing massive
health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows your body to
maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed
to return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external
temperature is to hot the body

Other factors that contribute to gum disease are plaque induced gingivitis, drug induced gingivitis, and gingivitis due to vitamin deficiency, gingivitis due to infections, gingivitis due to pregnancy, gingivitis due to menopause, gingivitis due to leukemia, and gingivitis due to an impacted tooth (Pericoronitis). Thermoregulation Mechanism in the Human Body Previous studies have not considered the temperature control mechanisms of human body when a conflicting information is received from peripheral and central thermoreceptors. Our experiment was designed to investigate how the thermoregulation mechanism was activated when there was a passive heating to the human body and to find out how the body would react to the situation when the human was experiencing the heating and cooling simultaneously. Our first hypothesis was accepted, where the body regulated cutaneous vasodilation to enhance heat loss through sweat evaporation and all the respiratory parameters were increased in order to supply the higher demand of oxygen. However, the second hypothesis was rejected, as the peripheral control had more influence than central control when the body received increased temperature to the leg and decreased temperature at the same time. • 9. Fostering Connections Act Introduction One of the greatest challenges for child welfare workers for years has been how to serve the unique needs of the older youth in foster care and of those who have aged out of foster care. The term aging out refers to youth that are forced to exit foster care at the age of 18 because they have reached age defined adulthood (NASW Press, 2015). The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 attempts to meet those needs by providing states with the option to support youth who are transitioning from foster careto adulthood. The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 is a child welfare bill that was designed to achieve greater permanence and improve the well being of children served by child welfare agencies (Stoltzfus, 2008). For the purpose of this policy analysis, we will focus on section 201 and 202 of the Fostering Connections Act which focuses on locating and strengthening supports for children whose permanency goal is independent living. • 12. Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country,

Willingness to Pay To better understand customer s willingness to pay, a survey was developed and given to hospital and nursing home professionals who had some knowledge of the cost of care. Since most care givers are removed from the financial side of the business, it proved rather difficult to find participants willing to take the survey. Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. O Brien also uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by creating a feeling of repetitiveness.

Beginning in the 1990 s a research project was created with the intent of determining the sequence of nucleotide base pairs that made up human DNA. The Collaboration was key to completing this project, it was an international project that required, funding, certain technologies, and research methods. The Human Genome project provided important information that benefited medical science. This project helped scientist understand different genetic diseases that plagued mankind and opened the doors to many other scientific findings. Although the Human Genome Project was met with initial resistance it has proved to be significant in many aspects of science. The Human Genome project was widely anticipated, the possibility of understanding human disease, causes of disease, and human evolution was at the forefront of science. In 1985 a project was formally proposed with the goal of determining the complete nucleotide sequence of the human genome. Although the proposal had the possibility to change science it was met with much resistance. The main concern was privacy of genetic information, educating health care professionals, and ethical issues involving the design of genetic research. Multiracial Identity in Essays by Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna The essays of Julia Alvarez and Danzy Senna address issues of multiracial identity important in their younger years as they grew up daughters of a multiethnic and multiracial background. Despite the slight generational differences, the same issues are as important today as they were twenty or thirty years ago. The concept of one being multiracial is a relatively new concept. In the past, a person with a mixed racial background could not reasonably claim a mixed heritage openly, one had to identify with one or the either. Those that could not do that usually found themselves isolated from either background. This is made apparent in American literature through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, this new embracement of multicultural is due more to commercial manipulation rather than an increasing acceptance of the evolving racial equation. One example is the popularity of Latin music. In the last past two years, the popularity of Latin music has exploded and along with it, the careers of people like Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera, and Enrique Inglesias. Some of these people claim a mixed racial heritage and accordingly, it seems apparent that a more tolerant and even accepting time in history has come for those of a mixed heritage. Indeed, many entertainers now come to fame based in part on having a mixed racial heritage. However, Latin music has been around for many years and its emergence in the mainstream is unlikely to be due to a more liberal attitude towards multicultural, multiethnic themes. The recent, newly found popularity demonstrates more of a realization that companies can exploit multiracialism for a profit. Commercialism exploits and co opts the theme of multiculturalism in the name of profit. It glamorizes people who reveal their multicultural or multiracial background and makes them look exotic. However, it is imperative to understand, that these motives are not high minded. It is simply for profit and record sales, that corporations have encouraged outlets for multicultural and multiracial diversity. Senna notes in her

Shaping requires the teacher to reward students, as they get closer to the desired behavior. The thinking behind shaping is the student will continue to be motivated to achieve the next step. Teachers are able to use shaping to set short term goals then build on them (Leach, 2014). An example of shaping is teaching a student how to brush his/her teeth. All four areas are what the paint, picture or sculptures identity is. I was lucky enough to visit my buddy out at WIU. There are many works in the art gallery, around the union and even outside walking around, but one that did catch my attention and had me thinking about it for quite some time. It was a painting called Memorialized by Tyanna Buie, was made in 2011 and measures 38 x50 . The content it has is beautiful, the form is wicked, context is superb and iconography is permanent. This sense of power and control that Othello feels he has to assert over Desdemona escalates to the point that he feels justified it is his right to take her life. • 58. The Importance Of Temperature Control In The Human Body Temperature control is the body s natural way of warming and cooling its self, allowing it to stay at one particular temperature (37oC or 98oF) Receptors in the skin detect changes in the external temperature. They pass this information to the processing centre in the brain Hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is a processing centre in the brain that controls body temperature and is in charge of sending out signals to other conductors. It does this by triggering curtain mechanism such as goose bumps, sweet gland, shivering and automatic responses i.e taking off or putting on clothing when hot and cold. These automatic mechanism helps the body maintain and control its preferred temperature, this helps keep the organs, enzymes and cells working at a good speed keeping you healthy and stable. Temperature regulation is a vital function in our body that without it our body won t be able to function and we will die. The temperature regulation of the human body has many ways of cooling and heating. The hormones from the hypothalamus govern the physiologic functions such as thirst, hunger, sleep, mood and temperature regulation and a lot more. If one function breaks down they all will suffer causing massive health issues and even death. Thermoregulatory is a process that allows your body to maintain its core internal temperature. All thermoregulation mechanisms are designed to return your body to homeostasis (the state of equilibrium). When the external temperature is to hot the body
