2. Typical Selling Approach And Societal Marketing
TYPICAL SELLING APPROACH AND SOCIETAL MARKETING
INTRODUCTION:
Marketing is usually understood as a bridge between the companies (offering
products and services) and ultimate customer or consumers. Through marketing sales
of goods and services take place between customer and a company in exchange of
money. Companies generally use typical or traditional selling approach for their
offerings. Traditionally company gather knowledge of and target the needs and wants
of a particular group of people and then market their products and services to that
targeted group and then through their sales professional sell their goods and services
to the people of targeted group (William, 2011). This is the general practice of all
most all the companies and it is referred to as typical selling.
Typical selling approaches has become absolute now as world is changing at a very
fast pace. The globalization has created a very strong competitive environment.
Therefore now companies have started thinking differently in order to cope up with
the competition in the market and corporate sectors. Companies have started
switching to societal marketing approach from typical selling approach. This helps
them to gain not only competitive edge over the other companies offerings but also
provide maximum customer satisfaction and contribution towards the well being of a
society.
SOCIETAL MARKETING APPROACH:
The societal marketing approach entails the concept that a business should make the
decision about the

Duddy...
God would not have created humans if they were not meant to make mistakes.
Everyone is prone to making mistakes, but they only become valuable when you take
a lesson out of them. The main character, Duddy Kravitz, goes through a tough
upbringing, in a family that continuously discriminates him. Throughout the story, he
makes grave life mistakes which allow him to see the world more clearly. The
discriminatory attitude of his familymakes him go through a process of self
awareness and an understanding of his identity. Duddy s persistence in following his
ambitions allows him to face conflicts and explore his self identity. In the novel by

After graduating high school, Duddy finds a job as a waiter at Laurentian
Mountains. He leaves his family back home and goes to work to prove that he is
capable of making money. He accepts a challenging waiter job to show his uncle
that he is as skillful as his brother, Lennie. Most of the employees at Laurentian
Mountains are college students, ...first and second year McGill boys (64), other
than Duddy. Most of the college boys come from more prosperous families and
Duddy found it difficult (64). Despite being treated inferiorly at home and in the
workplace, Duddy is resilient in working hard for money. While working with
college boys, he is seen as inferior and someone who is odd , because of how poor
he is. Oh it, has a grandfather (70), demonstrates that by calling Duddy it, they are
bullying him. These experiences take a huge toll on how Duddy sees the world and
the way he begins to interact with those around him.
People s expectations of themselves can often lead them to make irrational and
unwise decisions. In the novel, Duddy sets expectations for himself, based on words
that were once told to him by his grandfather. His grandfather, Simcha, has lived his
life under the harsh conditions of poverty. By telling Duddy that a man without land
is nobody (44), and not explaining fully to Duddy what he means, Simcha has
unknowingly changed his
5. Changes In Adolescents
Teenagers are often thought to act differently, or even more self centered than other
age groups. Consequently, they are ridiculed through pop culture, and people wonder
why these changes take place in adolescents. Due to vast improvements in brain
imaging technologies like MRI, we can now answer question like these that have
been around for decades. What is taking place in the brainof adolescents that adjusts
their ability to think and perceive the world?
One of the brain regions that changes most dramatically during adolescence is the
prefrontal cortex, says Sarah Jayne Blakemore, a cognitive neuroscientist. It is
proportionally much larger in humans than any other animal. According to
Blakemore, the prefrontal cortex plays an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The medial prefrontal cortex is a central region of the prefrontal cortex. In fact, this
part of the brain is more active in adolescents than other age groups, which is an
important change to observe. The activity of the medial prefrontal cortex decreases
through adolescence, and we hypothesize that is because adults apply a different
mental approach, a different cognitive strategy, to make social decisions.
So imagine you re a participant in one of our tests, says Blakemore. You come in
and see this computerized task. In it, there are a set of shelves and behind them is
a guy. But the guy can only see some of the objects on the shelves because some are
occluded with a sort of gray piece of wood. In her test, you have to move objects
around, but a man who can not see all of the objects is telling you which and how
to move the objects. So if the guy says, move the top truck left, you would
instinctively reach for the white truck, but then you would realize that he can t see it
and you would move the blue truck that he can see. Now, believe it or not, healthy
adults actually make errors around 50 percent of the time. According to her results,
young children incorrectly move the objects when faced with the social challenge
about 80 percent of the time. This number decreases to about 50 percent in
adulthood. However, when there is no social challenge, they make errors around 20
percent of the time which decreases to about 8 percent in late adolescence, which then
6. Suspense In The Third Man
External action is when thing happen in the world and provide narrative
information. Internal action is what occurs to a character mentally. The narrative of
a film can either be linear or nonlinear. Linear is when the events of a film are
explained from the beginning to the end. Nonlinear films are when the events are
told out of order. An example of nonlinear is when a filmutilizes flashbacks. When
creating the screenwriter uses several other options to aid in the story. These include
the struggle for human dignity, a complexity in human relationships, a truth in human
nature. They could use social problems which reflect conversations that are currently
occurring in society. They could use moral problems to question what is right or
wrong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Third Man the tool of suspense is used to propel the entire plot. The
suspense begins when Holly Martin discovers that his friend Harry Lime is dead
when he first arrives in Vienna. Holly is immediately suspicious of the claim that
Lime s death was an accident, and this suspicion leads the audience to wonder
what really happened. Was Lime murdered or was it just an accident? As the story
moves forward the film does a wonderful job of keeping the audience and Martin in
the dark as to what is actually happening. When the porter tells Martin that he has
more information the viewer believes that they will finally know what is going on.
However, the porter is killed and once again the audience is left in suspense.
Suspense is also present when Anna is revealed to have forged her papers.
Because the police do nothing right away the viewer does not know what her fate
will be. Is she going to get away with it or are the russians going to send her away?
Suspense in the movie is also created by the set and lighting. The film takes place
in vienna, and many scenes take place in shadowed windy streets. Because the
viewer can t see everything, they are left with a sense of mystery. This adds to the
feeling of suspense that is already created by the plot.Suspense is important in this
film because it helps to keep the audience engaged. The movie would be boring if
everything was revealed right away. If

anything else. An example for alliteration is Everyone s bare bottoms now left

could get the audience excited. An example for rhyme is An invention Dad

for this to rhyme but it works when it rhymes. For similes I used Lawsuits are

falling downhill in their crisis. They were losing all their money so quick. Finally
for repetition I repeated The word Blob three times to represent the ship sinking. I
did this because when things sink they can sometimes make a blob
8. Live Chat Shop Essay
Satisfying your customers is the number one goal.
That s why, a wave of businesses are investing in live chat software as a customer
support option. Research tells us that live chat has the highest satisfaction levels for
any customer service channel, with 73%, compared with 61% for email and 44% for
phone.
But live chat is more than just a customer support tool. One on one communication
with customers opens the doors to learning more about consumer behavior. Live
engagement can uncover product mishaps and branding opportunities.
Gain more from your live chat software. Here are six ways to move your team
beyond customer support:
1. Increase Sales
On average, 67% of shoppers abandon their online shopping carts. And most leave
due to checkout process confusion, lack of product information, or unanswered
questions about payment options and shipping costs.
Live chat changes this paradigm by offering immediate assistance to save lost sales.
Marketing professional Lior Levin agrees that chat agents make an impact when they
walk shoppers through the sales process.
Levin says, This helps eliminate bounces away from retail websites and ensure that
full shopping carts make it through check out.
Moreover, savvy live chat reps can answer the customer s initial inquiry and spot
opportunities to help the individual with product offerings.
Shoppers are more likely to buy when informed. In the example below, agent Adam
responds to Jaye s product question. Then, Adam offers
9. Freud Vs Erikson
When you think of developmental psychology what major names come to the
forefront of your mind? Sigmund Freud? Erik Erikson? Jean Piaget? Maybe even
Lev Vygotsky. There are many theorists/theories that are heavily involved or
opinionated when it comes to development. The two that I would like to shed the
most light on is Freud s psychosexual stages and Erikson s eight stages of
psychosocial development. Theories between these gentlemen could not be more
different, not only from a sexual aspect but also from an overall developmental point
of view. Although both arguments have their individual merits, Sigmund Freud
continues to hold true in my mind, despite the many criticisms that come along with
his works.

Which doesn t necessarily mean that the information is wrong. People disagree
with what they don t understand or something that offends them to a point where
they are unwilling to learn more. That kind of ignorance causes many intelligent
aspects of our world to go unnoticed. If my examples and persuasive comments
have yet to sway you then think about this; when you were a child, who were you
closer to? As a female, where you closer to your father? If yes then you were
subject to the common Electra complex, also known as being a daddy s girl , that
states a daughter will become closer to her father and stray from her mother. While
the opposite is also true, a son will push away from his father towards the comfort of
his mother, the Oedipus complex. If you truly think about it, Sigmund Freud is
everywhere in our culture, we all simply need to be more open
10. Rebecca s Pay
There are a lot of factors that go into determining an employee s pay. Some people
may believe that performance is the key factor in determining a person s pay,
while others may believe that it s only the duties associated with the job. I will
explain why I feel that Ted was justified in insisting that Rebecca s job be evaluated
and not solely Rebecca s performance. Further, I will explain what I would do and
say if I were Ted when talking to the job evaluation committee. Lastly, I will discuss
why I believe there should be a maximum rate of pay for every job in an organization,
regardless of how well the job is being performed.
In your educated opinion was Ted justified in insisting that the job, not the person,
be evaluated? Discuss. I do believe that Ted was justified when he insisted that
Rebecca s job is to be evaluated and not the person. Ted may have been a bit upset
because these same two executives raising the issue were part of the evaluation
committee that already evaluated the jobs assigned to Pay Grade 4, which included
Rebecca s pay grade (TRIDENT). Job evaluation is a measurement of the internal
relativity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with responsibility and the original agreeance of assigning Rebecca to Pay Grade 4.

give clients the first and last impression of the firm. Her position is unique and she
has several years of experience. Additionally, she represents the firm well and has
been recognized by the firms executives, the president and most importantly the firms
customers. According to Haden (2012), When you find great, always make your best
offer (para. 5). I would recommend that Rebecca s individual equity to the firm is

11. The Motives Of Dante s Inferno
Dante s motive to write The Inferno of Dante The Inferno of Dante is an account of
Dante s perspective including his thoughts on hell and where certain political and
religious figures within that time period belong. Dante s main drive to write these
poems may have been, to show how corrupt the historical and political figures from
that era are because he is angry at the fact that these leaders are taking advantage of
innocent people. Dante meets Pope Nicholas III who was vested with the great
mantle of power which refers to the papacy (Dante 195.63 67). Pope Nicholas was a
part of the papacy from 1277 to 1280 before he was accused of different types of
simony, the buying or selling of political positions. Dante talks about the seducers,

LITERATURE REVIEW
Literature Review:
Rao (2001) made an attempt to explain the variation of capital structure across
industries in India during pre and post liberalization regime and also examine if there
is any significant change in average industry level capital structure during post

explanatory variables for capital structure. The most significant explanatory variables
for capital structure during pre liberalization regime were the measure of profitability,
risk and asset type. During post liberalization regime measure of profitability, growth

The Apology of Socrates by Plato, is the dialogue that tells the story of Socrates
legal self defense, where he represents himself at his trial for impiety and corruption
in 399 BC. Throughout the book Socrates tries to maintain his innocence. Apology of
Socrates is essentially a defense against the charges of corrupting the youth, not
believing in gods in whom the city believes, but in other daimonia that are novel to

to being a formal defense of someone s conduct. Socrates tries to defend himself on

man before he is found guilty seems to be, and then what a man who is found guilty

Throughout this book I could not figure out if I personality liked Socrates or not.

times he doesn t exactly tell the truth, yet he doesn t fib either. I think Socrates is
one of the smartest person I ve ever learned about. The way he tried to work the jury

Vince Lombardi as a Leader
Vince Lombardi once stated, Leaders aren t born, that are made. And they are made
just like anything else, through hard work (Belliotti, 2008, p.8). Lombardi was a
very successful National Football League coach. He defines a true leader in the
coaching world through his hard work and dedication to making each individual
player and the team as a whole better through transformational leadership.
According to Peter G. Northouse, a leader is someone that has the ability to inspire
and create change that allows others to follow them. They display confidence,

that are relevant in the workplace are also the same in sports. As a ... Show more

George Manning and Kent Curtis state The term transformational leadership can be
used to describe the leadership of individuals such as Vince Lombardi. These leaders
use optimism, charm, intelligence, and a myriad of other personal qualities to raise
aspirations, and transform individuals and organizations into new levels of high
performance (2003, p.24). I believe the best way to show Lombardi s leadership style
is through the components of transformational leadership.
There are four components of transformational leadership: idealized influence,
inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration.
Idealized influence describes leaders that appear as role models for followers
(Northouse, 2010, p.177). David Maraniss says that while Lombardi expected his
players to be early for everything and dressed in suits, but that Lombardi himself
would always get there earlier than the players still and was dressed in nothing
short of professional attire (1999, p.217). Lombardi was a great role model and
only expected the best from his team because he gave the team his best. He led by
example and embodied all the ideas he taught others in himself as well.
Lombardi displayed charisma, which is a special gift that certain individual s posses
that make others want to follow their vision. A former player of Lombardi s from the

16. Aristotle s Views On Teachings And Beliefs Of Philosophy
Epicurus is a well known ancient Greek philosopher who has had a remarkable
impact on teachings and beliefs of Philosophy. His goal was to teach all people to
find happiness by following his way of life. To this day, there are still many that
follow the beliefs of Epicurus. I see some of his beliefs positively and others seem
unnecessary.
Epicurus did not believe in the supernatural. His beliefs were more about physics,
logic, and ethics. To him everything experienced in life happens naturally. The
supernatural beliefs that people have are built on fear of dying and what happens in
the afterlife. To Epicurus, this was no way to lead a happy life. Nothing is felt after
death; therefore, there should be nothing to fear (Stace).
Hedonism was an important part of Epicurus beliefs. Hedonism is easily described as
the pursuit of pleasure. Epicurus believed that the goal in life should be to seek
pleasure and avoid pain. Epicurus understood hedonism as pleasure being the first
priority of life but believed that pleasure should be obtained in a sensible manner (
Hedonism ). The hedonistic beliefs of Epicurus tend to fall on the side of
psychology as well as philosophy. People begin to seek pleasure and avoid pain
unknowingly as an infant. As we grow into adults looking for ultimate happiness,
seeking pleasure is just not as easy with all the curve balls that are thrown in life (O
Keefe).
Epicurus thought it is necessary to try to avoid pain but to do that we

From these options I would have the 1TB SSD because an SSD does everything a

magnetic coating that stores your data, this last only for a certain time until it

Sex
Might as well face it, you re addicted to love.
Thoughts on the reality of Hypersexual Disorder and Sex Addiction
J. K. Harville
Thoughts on the reality of Hypersexual Disorder and Sex Addiction We often hear
about addictions and the problems they cause in the news and portrayed in Movies
and television. We hear about an alcoholic, a drug addict, or a compulsive gambler
and how their addictions destroy their lives and that of their families. An addiction we
don t often hear about or see glorified on television is an addiction to Biology s
most base instinct; Sex. A person can feel the same impulses and chemical responses

sexual desire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The addict makes excuses for his behavior, hides their addiction, and as the
condition progresses, tends to engage in high risk activities to get their fix. Dr.
Herkov explains this by telling us: Increasing sexual provocation in our society has
spawned an increase in the number of individuals engaging in a variety of unusual
or illicit sexual practices, such as phone sex, the use of escort services and
computer pornography. More of these individuals and their partners are seeking
help. (Herkov, 2006) Adversely, the argument is being made that Sexual Addiction,
now more commonly referred to as Hypersexual Disorder, is not a true affliction or
addiction. Many would say that a person would claim sexual addiction as an excuse
for unnatural behavior or a reason for being unfaithful. John M. Grohol, founder and
Editor in Chief of the website World of Psychology, gives us insight into this
argument. In his article, Is Sexual Addiction Real? Grohol defines the condition as an

19. Essay On Peru Government
Peruvians enjoy a free government and one of the richest histories in the world. Peru
s history has legendary beginnings and leads to a revolution. Furthermore, the
Peruvian government allows civil liberties and freedoms. Come and go back in time
to the Incas and lead through until Peru s founding government.
The history of Peru is riddled with legends, conquistadors, and a revolution. The
fabled beginnings of the Inca empire, which preceded Peru in their lands, state that
Manco Capac, a son of the sun god, was sent down and made home in the Vilcanota
Valley ( Peru History ). This became their capital, Cuzco. The Incas documented their
history through the reigns of the kings. However, it was not until the eighth king,

Pizarro was also murdered, in present day Lima by Diego Almargo in 1541. The
next year, Spain founded the Viceroyalty of Peru, which stretched almost the entire
continent of South America. The viceroy of Peru, Francisco Toledo organized the
Indian population and beheaded Manco Capac II s son, cutting off all chance at a
Native rebellion. The viceregal capital of Peru was Lima and included the head
church of Peru. There was one rebellion in Peru, by the last Incas, but it ultimately
failed (Kus 11). This directly led into the revolution for independence. Argentine
general, Jose de San Martin came to Peru in 1820 and declared Peru an independent
country the next year on July 28. The Peruvians had been fighting for independence
for over a decade ( Historical Information ). SimГіn Bolivar, had helped almost all of
South America declare freedom, refused to liberate Peru, unless he did not have to

By Definition Miracles Do Not Occur
Even in this modern age, belief in the miraculous is widespread and is a feature of
many world religions, including the Christian faith where miracles have played a
significant role.
It is important attempt to define what a miracle is, as this in itself is a source for
debate. Today the term miracle in many different ways and the idea is open to many
interpretations.
A miracle can be defined in a number of ways, firstly as an unexpected change for
the better. This centres miracles in people s treatment of each other, not necessarily
demanding the idea of a creator God, although it can be interpreted as being God s
action (here a change can be deemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is with this definition of miracles that the majority of arguments occur, with
some claiming them to be obvious signs of God s reality and active presence
within the world, with some such miracles being incorporated in arguments for
religious experience. We see examples of such RSSE in the gospels. For many
Christian s miracles, demonstrate God s care for his creation and show God s
willingness to intervene to change things for the better. Such examples of RSSE are
not confined to the times of Jesus, but have occurred in the fairly recent past
especially in the Catholic Church (who undertake a strict procedure in ascertaining
the validity of miracles) e.g. Lourdes, The miraculous recovery of John Fagen, which
lead to the sainthood of John Ogillve etc.
Scholars such as Hume, and scientists such as Dawkins, believe that miracles have
natural explanations and are only seen as miraculous due to ignorance (as science
advances forward so faith retreats). They believe that there are no real miracles but
events that can be better explained in scientific terms (the plagues, walking on water
etc) or are simply fabricated.
The German scholar Rudolf Bultmann took a similarly sceptical view of miracles
and argued that the world view of the Bible was unacceptable in a modern, scientific
age. Bultmann reasoned that the
21. Food Ban Research Paper
Should government have the freedom to limit its citizens freedom? The answer is
yes but the question is how much and for what reasons. The ban on large sugary
drinks more than 16 ounce at food service establishments proposed by The New
York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sparked a heated debate over this question.
Proponents of the ban justified it by citing studies which showed excessive amount of
sugar causes obesity and has many other serious negative effects on health. They
argued that such consequences have negative effect for the whole society, in form of
additional health care and social welfarecost. Opponents of the ban argued that it
imposes an unjustified and unnecessary limit on personal freedom, does not reach the
intended goal of limiting obesity, and sets precedent for excessive government
overreach. Both sides have strong arguments, I am inclined to side with the
opponents of the ban mainly because I am wary of unnecessary government
overreach but I am on the border and ready to change my opinion in future.

In this case a proponent of the deal can argue that scientific research leaves no doubt
that excessive consumption of sugary beverages is harmful. As a result the
government has a moral obligation to ban it even if it only hurts the consumer and no
one else. To oppose this argument in a utilitarian context, the opponent must show
that the ban does not lead to the intended consequences. They can argue that the ban
does not include supermarkets, so the consumer can go and buy as much sugary
beverage he/she wants somewhere else.
In a legal context the question is whether based on the constitution and other
governing laws in the country and the state, the city officials have the legal authority
to impose such a ban. According to the New York judiciary system they

Introduction :
пѓ Regenerative periodontal treatment involves systems which are especially
intended to reestablish those parts of the tooth supporting structures which have been
lost because of periodontitis or gingival injury. The expression recovery is
characterized as a recreation of lost or harmed tissues in a manner that both the first
structures and their capacity are totally reestablished. Strategies went for
reestablishing lost periodontal tissues support the making of new connection,
including the development another periodontal tendon with its filaments embeddings

great sign for periodontal regenerative treatment. Furthermore, distinctive degrees of
furcation association in molars and upper first premolars are a further sign for
regenerative methodologies as the furcation range stays hard to keep up through

periodontal treatment are confined gingival subsidences and root presentation since
they may bring about a noteworthy tasteful sympathy toward the patient. The
stripping of a root surface with resultant root affectability speaks to a further sign to

The other well known and beloved play of Tennessee Williams is A Glass of

Missouri. After World War I, the stock market crash of 1929 came which sent the
American nation into the Great Depression. Formerly well to do families found
themselves underprivileged, and the poor seemed to get even lesser. The story of the
Wingfield familyis a close up look how people dealt in various ways with their
impoverished circumstances. To express his universal truths Williams created a term,
which he uses in this play, the plastic theatre, which is distinctive new style of drama.

25. Effects Of Fossil Fuels
Everyday in U.S., immense amount of fossil fuel is burned. Fossil fuels are fuel
formed by natural processes, such as decomposition of buried dead organisms. Fossil
fuel release carbon dioxide when they are burned which adds to the greenhouse effect
and increases global warming. The way we can help the environment and reduce the
amount of carbon dioxideis by replaying fossil fuels with solar and wind sources for
electric power generations in the U.S. We burn fossil fueleveryday by driving cars.
EIA estimates that U.S. motor gasoline and diesel fuel consumption for
transportation in 2016 resulted in the emission of about 1,102 million metric tons
of carbon dioxide and 437 million metric tons of CO2, respectively, for a total of
1,540 million metric tons of CO2. Tesla is one of the only company s that was able
to make a full electric car. Even thought the prices for the cars is very expensive,
the car only runs on a mere battery. If we are able to mass produce more batteries
thats much more affordable, we can replace large amount of cars today with
electric powered cars and reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned. Many
people buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels
help get energy for your house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce
heat for your house. You can add immense amounts of insulation when building a
new house even if cost a little bit more, it will lower the cost for heating and air
conditioning

The speaker sees the sense of sight in many different ways. Some get used to the
darkness while others don t. Others view the darkness differently. In Emily
Dickinsons poems, Before I got my eye put out, and We grow accustomed to the
dark, they show different ways people view their loss of sight. People either adapt
to life without their sight or they live life unhappily or bitter. In Before I got my
eye put out, Dickinson says that sight is very important. Dickinson is sad when
she reflects on the loss of her sight. She compares when she used to be able to see
to how other sighted creatures uses their sight. Dickinson frequently reflects about
all the things she used to be able to see. She now feels a bit dead. This is because
she used to be able to see whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. She misses
being able to see the sunrise, birds flying, and the colors of the world. She wrote
this to tell people to not take what they have for granted. She also wrote this poem to

it. If there is no light our eyes will adjust. Once they have become adjusted to either
darkness or a little light, everything will be okay. This means that we would be able
to walk without hitting anything. Or worry about hitting

inherent in a composer s context. Accordingly, a comparative study of Jane Austen s

30. Life Is A Matter Of Life
The concept of life itself is quite simple. Biologically the purpose of life is far less
open to interpretation, remaining in the general area of keep living and reproduce
so to keep life going. However, it is when people try to add significance and value to
life that things become convoluted. Why is that? Because one may say that the value
of life is one thing, then another may say something else. But which one is right?
Both and neither to put it simply. In that there is neither a wrong nor right way to
view life; for it is all a matter of perspective. However, it brings up the question: if
the value/ significance of life is a matter of perspective that an individual must
interpret and give, could it be that there is no true value/ significance to life? To
answer the question bluntly no, there is no true value of life, but there are
different ways to view life, may it be positive or negative. With those views being
influenced by the experiences one has gone through. There is nothing that is quite
as rare in the universe like life. It is only known to exist on one plant out of about
200 billion. Although life is considerably rare in the vast scale of things, people tend
not to place much value on life itself. However, value is placed on the things that
come with life, for instance knowledge and what that knowledge can get them. An
investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. (Franklin The Way to Wealth:

Real time PCR detection of HIV viral load
Introduction:
HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a lentivirus which is responsible for
HIV infection and eventually causes AIDS.
It s assumed that the virus has been in existence since 1930 but it s still unclear that
how the virus came into existence. There are two kinds of HIV virus, HIV 1 which
causes more severe disease and the source of transmission is a chimpanzee species
Pan troglodytes whereas HIV 2 is transmitted by Cercocebus atys, a monkey found in
West Africa (Norris, 2011).
HIV binds to the CD4+ T cells because it needs CD4+ receptor to penetrate into
cells. The virus transcribes its RNA into cDNA and then integrates its DNA into the
host DNA and replicates further. It uses the DNA of CD4+ T lymphocytes and
eventually ends up destroying them (Roberts, 2008). Once it weakens the immune
system, the body becomes vulnerable to various diseases and is exposed to life
threatening diseases known as opportunistic infections. A population of over 35
million people have HIV/AIDS and Sub Saharan Africa constitutes half of the
population (AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, 2014). Figure 1. A statistical map

33. The Treatment Of The Placebo Effect
The placebo effect is the reaction a patient has to a substance that is believed to be
medication. The New Medical Dictionary in 1785 referred to a placebo to be a
common place method or medicine. Before that, people would believe anything
would heal them, if it worked in the slightest way possible. For example, Elisha
Perkins s Perkins Tractors. Some physicians believe that deceiving a patient is
unethical and do not participate in studies that contain placeboresearch. The placebo
effect has been studied by a lot of well recognized people. The same conclusion has
been drawn for years, that the placebo effect is simply replies in one s mind. In
1796, Elisha Perkins invented pointers made of alloys used to extract pain and
reduce inflammation (Miller 1935). Since he saw how popular the Perkins
Tractors were, John Haygarth decided to conduct an experiment. In 1799, just a
few years after the Perkins Tractors were introduced, Haygarth made his own
version of the Perkins Tractor (Booth 2005). The Perkins Tractor was somewhat
pricey, so Haygarth chose to make his tractor affordable (Booth 2005). Haygarth s
tractor was made out of wood and still advertised the same effects of the Perkins
Tractor (Booth 2005). Haygarth found that if the patient believed that a simple
tractor, whether made of wood or metal alloys, would cure their inflammation or pain,
it would (Booth 2005). Objects were not the only things that caused the placebo
effect. Thomas Jefferson, one of the American

these things, the result is utter and blatant madness, and eventually becomes the

mental instability of Annie Wilkesand the imprisonment of Paul Sheldon shows how
obsession can lead to the destruction of others.

She commanded him to write another novel called Misery s Return; the book was
just for her. Her obsession with Misery deceived her into believing that she had to
love the man who wrote the divine novels. Her love for him and his books became
suffocating. She played on his severe leg injuries and trapped him in her house,
hoping that he would love her for saving him and that they could live together
happily. Her deranged infatuation deluded her into assuming that Paul wanted to live
with her forever.
In the end, Paul finished the novel that Annie was dying to read; when she would
finish reading the book, she would then kill Paul and then herself. The reason that
they could not live together anymore is because Annie had to kill a police officer
because he saw and recognized Paul while paying Annie a visit. Annie wanted to
keep Paul forever, but she knew that their time was cut short because the cops will
find out that she killed the first officer.
The amputations of his leg and thumb, caused by Annie Wilkes s psychotic (and
usually purposeless) temper tantrums, persuaded Paul that he needed to leave
before she killed him; in order to leave, he had to kill her, both emotionally and
physically. He never allowed her to read the book; he burned the entire work
before she could read the ending. He knew that would kill her soul and that it would
be a distraction to her while he attacks her. He eventually killed her and was

35. The Destruction Of Fear In Gardner s Grendel, By John
Gardner
Society s biggest flaws stem from the inability to understand the unknown; fear is one
of the greatest contributions to this inability. Society projects their own fears and
flaws onto monsters in order to deter the realization that they are the real monster. In
John Gardner s Grendel ; Grendel is the victim to this concept because society has a
preconceived notion about him and automatically stigmatizes him. Grendel is an
embodiment of mankind s greatest fears and a reflection of them selves. Our

Being afraid is not a valid reason to attack something. It only counter acts the idea
what we are understanding creatures. Even with multiple encounters with Grendel
the Danes they do not attempt any sort of communication with him. They simply
attack first and don t bother to question why he always seems to appear around
them. For example Gardner say s Drunken men rushed with me with battle axes. I
sank to my knees, crying, Friend! Friend! They hacked at me, yipping like dogs.
(Page 52). It is very said that even when Grendel is trying to establish some sort of
communications with the Danes they still ignore him and attack anyway. Even with
a lack of communication the Danes should still try to make contact with him anyway
possible. It seems barbaric that as a society they did not question their own actions.
This is one of Societies biggest flaws. If they would have tried to establish
communication with Grendel he may have not reacted the way he did. Society must
use their sociological imagination and try to see that Grendel was only attacking
because he was the one being threatened. He showed the most humanity in that
situation, he tried to establish communication by even saying the word Friend! . In
Language and Gender in Grendel Diane Andrews Henningfeld argues that Although
Grendel understands his language to be the same as the men s, they do not
understand his speech.

Through the employment of contemporary virtualization technologies, with the
incorporation of advanced tools that expands the coverage of the systems
administrator, the cost and labor of operations will be significantly lowered.
Efficiency improvement will have a direct impact on operation costs of many
institutions. Resources that could have been used in the buying and maintaining data
center infrastructure will be used in citizen centered services and other new
innovations that can go a long way to assist the citizen and ensure smooth running of
the government. Therefore, cloud computing will be a driving force to ensuring
efficiency in the way public resources are managed to the advantage of the people.
Every public office has a data center infrastructure where its data is stored and
retrieved when needed. In most cases, this infrastructure is underutilized. With cloud
computing, the data storage sections are eliminated because of pooling of IT
Infrastructure resources and sharing across a large number of organizations and
offices that are possible with cloud computing. The wastage that is realized when
data centered are not utilized is thus eliminated because different offices have peak
seasons in different times hence making the system to be put in use all year round.
This ensures that public assets are better utilized and loses reduces or even eliminated.

40. Understanding Thermal or Solar Heat Gain Coefficients
In order to understand the word thermal within a building, then SHGC which is solar
heat gain coefficients had to be known to known the property of thermal insulation
and conductivity in a whole manner. Solar heat gain coefficient is widely use in the
United State in designing building. SHGC may refer to the transmittance of solar
energyof windows or even walls, every object can be evaluate by using solar heat
gain coefficient method by knowing the properties of each material. If a material
have high solar heat gain coefficient, then the material is a good absorbent of solar
heat. For material that is black in colour, inevitably it absorb heat faster because of
the colour doesn t reflect the wavelength that comes directly from the source of light.
So, low e components of a building that comes with low solar heat gain coefficient
will reflect and keep heat source that came from sunaway from the house and that
will probably makes a house cooler. Solar heat gain coefficient usually dealt with
windows that possess a low e property. Low e may regard to the emissivity of one s
material. Nowadays window mostly is transparent, and that makes it vulnerable for
sunlight to penetrate easily into a house without any reflection. We have to be notice
that if a window is place facing the unsuitable direction such as west or east, it will
have an adverse effect towards the thermal comfort of a house especially terraced
house in Malaysia that cant undergoes renovation due to the

42. Genetically And Genetically Modified Food
Genetically modified organisms have been a contentious topic for the last several
years. Decried as being chemically dangerous to the human body, potentially ruinous
of worldwide agriculture, and harmful to the environment, GMOs have a rather
contemptible reputation. Despite these denunciations, it is undeniable that both
willful ignorance and outright misinformation have played a part in the public s
conception of genetically modified food. GMOs have undoubtedly been the victim of
character assassination and it is of utmost importance that they are given a factually
sound assessment rather than one based around fear mongering. The truth is that
genetically engineered organisms are as harmless for the body and environment as
any average, traditionally produced food product.
To best understand GMOs, it is important to elucidate their history. Despite being
thought of as a recent blight on the food landscape, GMOs have a historical root that
ties back to the beginning of time. That said, GMOs must first be defined. They are
any organism who s DNA has been genetically manipulated to either express or
eliminate certain traits. Although commonly thought of as solely being descriptive of
produce, genetic modification can be used on any plant. Additionally, there has been
recent progress made on genetically modifying animals and even humans. Although
not specifically terminologized as GMOs , farmers have been using primitive genetic
engineering since the dawn of agriculture. For
43. The Influence Of Spanish French And English Colonization
The world as we know it could not exist without the influence of Spanish, French,
and English colonization. Each of great European Colonies share some similarities
with one another but all varied greatly in structure, dominance, and influence. This
essay will break down many of the aspects that made up each colony which will lead
to a better understanding of what American Colonial life was like.
The Spanish, French, and English all established rather successful colonies in the
Americas but the locations of these colonies varied by founding country. The Spanish
crown sponsored conquests gained riches for Spain and helped expand its empire.
Originally claiming the Bahamas and most of South America the Spanish Empire
eventually claimed most of the southern and southwestern regions of the North
America, as well as sections of the California coast. The French were likely as
ambitious but found it difficult to compare to the vast dominance of the Spanish in
the Americas. Their first colonies were trading posts in Newfoundland and eastern
Canada. But French posts were established in the St. Lawrence valley, part of
Canada, and the Mississippi River area. Their empire eventually reigned from very
northeast Canada all the way south to Louisiana. For the English most colonies were
established by royal charter. Their earliest settlements were in Virginia and
Massachusetts. However, they eventually spread all along the Atlantic coast, from
Maine to Georgia, and as far West as the

grades. Senior year was hard for me. I had to make some decisions that were going
to impact the rest of my life. My brother (A student) had gotten kicked out of high

45. Theme Of Folly In Romance Of The Rose
In the French poem, the Romance of the Rose, Lady Reason states Happy is the
man who learns from his folly, (De Lorris and De Meun, 46). Lady Reason s
statement is true for the Lover in the Romance of the Rose. Folly are the mistakes
caused by one s foolishness; in this case, the Lover s folly is his impatience with the
rose. Happiness is when a man succeeds in attaining his desire; in which the Lover
does so by obtaining the rose in a chivalry manner. Therefore, through chivalry,
courtesy, and love, the Lover was able to be happy by learning from his folly.
Moreover, this is significant because this shows the audience, specifically men, on
how to love and how to display courtly behavior. The Lover s folly, or mistakes
caused by his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The God of Love instructs the Lover to keep yourself from pride, for he who has
understanding and discernment knows that pride is foolish and sinful, therefore,
the God of Love is suggesting that pride is a man s folly (34). Furthermore, he is
teaching the Lover to also be generous and light hearted. He also advices the Lover
to not paint your face or wear make up, because by doing so, he will be unmanly
(33). Thus, this shows that by learning from his folly or his act of impatience, the
Lover was able to achieve happiness in the end because he learned proper chivalry.
The teaching of chivalry in the Romance of the Rose is significant because it is as if
the God of Love, or better yet the narrators, are teaching men on how to display
chivalry behavior, which is important in a new courtly world. Thus, this also
displayed that chivalry can now be learned. Another quality that the Lover learns
from his folly, in order to attain happiness, is courtesy, or the inside behavior
between men and women. Along with chivalry, the Lover also learns ways to be
courteous. As his teacher, the God of Love tells the Lover be courteous and
approachable, speaking gently and reasonably to high and low alike, (32). This
shows that the God of Love is not only teaching the Lover to have chivalry, but also
courtesy. By having courtesy, towards the woman, he will be able to achieve
happiness, which is when he
46. Visit To Hawaii
There is always one place someone wants to go visit from hearing about it from a
friend or seeing pictures online. The place I want to visit over any place in the
entire world is Hawaii because of all the tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many
activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and jumping in or going on a tour
around the island in a helicopter.
One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the
beaches have so many things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay
first, to practice surfing and play games on the beach. I would play wiffle ball,
ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or lacrosse ball. Wiffle ball is a lot of fun
because I hit the ball to the ground a lot, so I dive to get the base. Ultimate frisbee is
hard to play on the beach because of the wind, so I dive to catch almost every throw.
After a couple of days I d switch to the ocean side of Hawaii to go body boarding,
boogie boarding, and surfing. Boogie boarding is more fun with bigger waves
because I get to ride the wave for a longer time. Bodyboarding is tough for me to
catch a wave, but is amazing once I finally catch one. Surfing is a little tricky to
stand up and is much easier for me to stay up once I get the hang of it. ... Show more

48. How The French View The Natives In Black Robe
Black Robe is a film that greatly exemplifies the views the Natives and the French
held of one another during the 1600s. Both groups help impressions of each other that
influenced how they interacted together. During the Native and French encounters in
Black Robe, it was apparent that Natives viewed the French as incompetent, weak,
but also interesting; the French had their own impressions that the Natives were
savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that one can see the
interest they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with the
Natives sitting in a church like building watching a clock. The Algonquins were
enticed with the mechanism and asked the French questions about it. They were

From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually
linked to the word savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards
the beginning, before Father Laforgue and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission,
two men are talking to one another about how they would not go on such a
mission with savages. Another example of this reference is near the end of the
film when Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even
Father Jerome refers to the ailing Natives as savages when speaking about them.
Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents the French s view that
Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the film
was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them
believe in Christianity. A great example of this is during the scene of Chomina s
death. Even as he is dying, Father Laforgue begs him to allow himself to be
baptized and saved in order to attain Christian paradise. Chomina s response to this
no, because he says his family will not be there. Father Laforgue does eventually
achieve his mission to convert the Natives to Christianity in the Huron village at the
end of the film, but he does so with a different mindset after all he had been through
with Daniel and the
49. Copping Research Paper
Coping is the active effort to master, reduce or tolerate the demands which are
created by stress. When a person is going through a stressful event, the adrenal
glands release catecholamines into the bloodstream. This mobilizes the body for
action. Along with this, the hypothalamus sends signals to the pituitary gland which
secretes the hormone (ACTH) which, in turn, stimulates a release of hormones
called corticosteroids. These stimulate the release of chemicals that increase a
person s energy and inhibits inflammation of tissues if a person gets injured. All of
this is going on in the body when a person is under stress. If a person does not find
a way to cope with stress, all this action in the body can lead to the suppression of the

50. SWOT Analysis Of Activision Blizzard
Advancements in information and technology have been the driving force behind
some of the successful companies in the world. Businesses are leveraging this
development to build competitive strategies by which they can make and sell their
products and services. One of the companies that are leveraging technology to sell
their services is ActivisionBlizzard, which makes and sells video game. Activision
Blizzardhas managed to establish five different business units, all of which are in the
entertainment industry. The success of the company has seen it establish itself as one
of the largest company in the United States and Europe in terms of its market
capitalization and revenue. In an industry that has seen many other companies
emerging, Activision Blizzard has the responsibility of making and adjusting its
operational strategies to remain ahead of the competition. One of the approaches that
it can use in the achievement of this important goal is using a SWOT analysis tool.
By doing the SWOT, Activision Blizzard can identify weaknesses and threats in its
operations and device strategies for working on them to remain relevant and
competitive in the market.
Team Organization External (SWOT) for Activision Blizzard
The SWOT analysis for Activision Blizzard can be summarized below. Helms and

51. Criticisms On Porter s Theory
4) Criticisms on Porter s Theory There have been many different reactions towards
Porter s theory on how nations ought to compete. Some responses were validated
while others rebutted his theory. Firstly, the positive response will be discussed
before focusing on the criticisms of Porter s theory. Oz (2002) implemented Porter s
Diamond model to analyse the competitive advantage of five Turkish industries and
the outcome was favourable and thus validated Porter s theory. For example, the
uncompetitive Turkish automobile industry resulted in uncompetitive companies,
while the presence of demanding buyers and hence intense local rivalry in Turkish
construction and leather clothing industries pushed the companies to innovate and
become globally competitive. The Turkish findings by Oz thus validated Porter s
theory that indeed, competitive industries of a nationare inclined to cluster together.
On the other hand, the criticisms of Porter s theory vary widely from doubts on his
theory s originality (Dunning, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993) to the
over reliance on global export shares as the measure of global competitiveness
(Cartwright, 1993; Grant, 1991; Rugman and D Cruz, 1993). Porter s methodology
was also denounced by several academics, which will be discussed below (Dunning,

52. Ethical Implication Of Multiple Myeloma
7Ethical aspects and impact of the research on the society
Multiple myeloma accounts for about 0.8 % of all the cancers and around 63,000
people are reported to die from it every year. The exact etiology of MM is not
clearly understood45. BMPs are potent inhibitors of multiple myeloma cells and are
found in the bone marrow where these cells reside. Multiple myeloma cells are able
to grow and continue proliferation within the bone marrow microenvironment. It is
therefore important to understand how myeloma cells are able to escape the tumor
suppressing activity of BMPs. A more in depth knowledge in this could lead to
development of new treatment and better targets for MM.

Therefore, we may say that in myeloma cells, BMP 6, BMP 9 and activin A signals
via ACVR2A and/or ACVR2B.
In signaling pathways, it can be observed that SMAD1/5/9 is potentiated by activin
A. SMAD2 is induced by activin A but not potentiated.
Further studies have to be conducted to explain the role of BMPR2 in MM. One
possible option is to generate stable transduced myeloma cell lines with over
expressed BMPR2. This will help understand role of BMPR2 with BMPs much
better. It would be helpful to find out the effects of BMPs and the role of BMPR2 in
various other cancer cell lines and not just in MM.
Another suggestion is to detect if patients with MM have elevated levels of
BMPR2 on the plasma cells than normal plasma cells. This could lead to a
possibility of BMPR2 made as a target for therapy. Also, the various inhibitors and
their specific activity on BMP pathways could be explored which can possibly
introduce more specific targets for MM

Multiple religious groups in the 1980 s organized anti nuclear protests which
included hundreds of thousands of people. Some of the groups involved in this

Initiative was launched in February of 2006 by a group of 85 Christians. This
group s main goals are environmental reform and ending global warming by
reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This group plans to accomplish these goals
through federal legislator, discussions regarding global warming and climate

our mothers will always be there when we need them the most. In Two Kinds by Amy

losing her familyin China, she comes to America with her daughter with the hopes
of reclaiming the loss of her family through the eyes of her daughter. As a little girl
Ni kan does as her mother dreams of but as the daughter get older she become
disobedient towards her mother. In the beginning, Ni Kan became just as excited as
her mother, maybe even more so at the idea of her becoming a prodigy (Tan, 223).
She could imagine herself with many different talents and she felt that once she
became perfect, (Tan, 223) her parents will never be disappointed with her.
Unfortunately, her mother has become so demanding of her that she is forced to take
daily tests at home. Ni Kan tells of the tests are harder multiplying numbers in my
head without using my hands, predicting the daily temperature in Los Angeles, New

lessons, this became the mother s center of her judgement. As the story continues to

57. Quintessential Slave Narrative In The Life Of Olaudah
Equiano
The Life of Olaudah Equiano, as any quintessential slave narrative does, features
the life of an ex slave and illustrates his road to freedom. Equiano, however, is
unique in how it gives us insight into African culture as experienced by Equiano in
his home country. Equiano displays, as the narrative develops, conflicting ideas
about the culture he came from as opposed to that of the Europeans, which he
eventually identifies with when he considers himself to be a British citizen. One may
think this makes him a traitor to his race, and it is possible that, in reading the
autobiography, one may observe what seems to be two different voices from Equiano.

One way, as I stated previously, is how after the first chapter, he has a more matter of
fact tone in description of events. He no longer uses any flowery description in his
writing and he describes events as they happened, sometimes with little detail.
Another stark contradiction exists in his characterization of slavery done by
Europeans that is way less brutish than he originally describes. Equiano was almost
caressed by this family, that it often reminded [him] of the treatment [he] had
received from [his] little noble African master, (42 43). He is also relieved when he
doesn t have to mutilate his face, like a different master in Africa almost forced him
to do. This view of the Europeans is largely different to his first view, in which he
was actually afraid that they would eat him. Aside from some of his perceptual
differences on European and African people, a less dramatic but still significant
contradiction in Equiano s character is seen in how he modifies his religious beliefs
to be more aligned with the Europeans Christianity. In chapter ten, he describes the
transition that occurred in regards to his faith. Equiano started out being very critical
of European Christians. I found none among the circle of my acquaintance that kept
wholly the Ten Commandments, he states, So righteous was I in my own eyes, that I
was convinced I excelled many of them in that point,
