Pigface Essay
Pig Face
Carpobrotus Rossii
There are about 30 different species of carpobrotus Rossii (Pigface) around the world. In
Australia there are four species which are seen mainly in coastal areas on sand dunes. Pigface is
a succulent plant that spreads up to 2 or more metres, flatly across the ground with thick waxy
succulent leaves growing up to 100mm long and has large daisy like flowers which grow about
45mm in diameter. This plant usually has purple petals with a white or yellow centre. fruits and
leaves are edible. The water stored in the leaves act as storage organs enabling the plant to survive
hot dry summers on coastal cliffs and sand. (Unique Flora of Tasmania, 2016)... Show more content

Human Impact on the South Port dune system
Humans have adversely affected the South Port sand dunes particularly the biophysical processes
occurring in the accretion cycle and on the flora and fauna in the biosphere. People, especially
boot campers, are walking or running in the wrong areas causing cliff faces to gradually collapse.
There are also people camping in areas that there should not be campers, council has had to remove
tents and mattresses as a consequence. (Jock Conlon, 2017)
Other impacts have been caused by the following human activities:

Disruption of sediment (sand) flow

Art of the Egyptians and Africans
Art of the Egyptians and Africans
Art of the Egyptians and Africans express .............................In art, style is a characteristic, or a
number of characteristics that we can identify as constant, recurring, or coherent.(Art Terminology
1) Artists express their emotions through their art making, their finished product will reflect that
emotion. They might also create a piece of art that makes the viewer create an emotional response.
Emotion is any strong agitation of the feelings actuated by experiencing love, hate, fear,
etc.(Dictionary 1)
Ancient Egyptian art is five thousand years old. It emerged and took shape in the ancient Egypt, the
civilization of the Nile Valley. Ancient Egyptian art was shown with emotion beautifully in painting
and sculpture, and was both highly symbolic and stylized. The exceptional traditions in Egypt is one
of the most important things in the history of art. The tombs and temples of the Egyptians have
expressed the grandeur of the kingdom of the Nile. Egyptian sculptors and painters began to
formulate patterns to represent figures and stories. Egyptians used the art to represent a
continuation of life after death, it was an important part of their culture. They believed that, in
order for the spirit to live on, the dead person s body had to be preserved, or mummified, and
buried along with supplies of food and drink, tools and utensils, valued possessions. (Scholastic)
Egyptian art was becoming more realistic, which moved away from the ways of

By 1943, Mussolini had created a totalitarian regime in Italy . Explain why you agree or disagree
with this view. (24 marks).
Most historians have suggested that Mussolini had not created a totalitarian regime in Italy by
1943 due to the fact that Fascism remained a secondary belief for the majority of Italy, superseded
by religion.
However Mussolini did achieve a totalitarian state in some respects. For example, his use of
propaganda was successful in propagating the idea of the Cult of the Duce , a campaign with the
aim of almost deifying Mussolini and giving him abnormal qualities, such as always being right,
being able to do anything, and having endless physical strength. Posters and photographs with
Mussolini, frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are also many respects in which Mussolini did not create a totalitarian state. The
fact that Mussolini had to make deals such as the Lateran Pacts in 1929 to accommodate the Church
shows that he did not have total control over Italy. Fascism was a secondary belief to the majority of
Italy who still fully believed and had faith in Catholicism. The Lateran Pacts specifically accepted
the dominant position of the Church in Italian society, meaning that Mussolini knew that the
Church were too big an organisation to fight against, so he had to rule alongside them. The regime
was not totalitarian as the Lateran Pacts also gave the Church control over education as teachers
and textbooks had to be approved by the Church, meaning that the facistisation of Education was
limited for Mussolini. It is true that with the approval of the Church, Mussolini gained far greater
support, however it meant that his popular support was based on the word and approval of the
Church, and his position could become untenable if the Church started to disapprove of him.
In addition, Mussolini had to make many concessions to high powered people and organisations
within Italy to remain dictator without any opposition from the elite groups in Italy such as the
King, the Liberals, the army and the Confindustria. The King represented a major grouping in
Italian society, the upper middle class and aristocracy, and elements, like the Armed

Mockumentary In Chris Lilley s Summer Heights High
Introduction:
The Australian produced show Summer Heights High, is created and written by Chris Lilley, it
was directed by Stuart McDonald. It was a mockumentary which takes place at Summer Heights
Heigh, it was filmed over a school term. The show was centered around three characters Jonah, Ja
mie and a drama teacher called Mr.G. The show followed these three characters around displaying
what their every day life is like. Jonah is a 13 year old boy from Tongah who has disciplinary
problems and does not like to participate at school. Ja mie is a private school girl that is on an
exchange program. She is the typical snobby private school girl that thinks she is better then

comedic techniques used throughout this scene are Chris Lilley s tone of voice while playing Ja
mie in my opinion makes everything funny, also stereotypes were used were funny with the
typical white snobby private girl that is displayed throughout this episode and not just this scene.
Just like the last scene satire was again used along with taboo, a lot of the comedy portrayed in
this television show has a lot to do with satire and taboo. Pseudo science is portrayed a lot
throughout this scene with the sayings Ja mie with how she will get pregnant and how she is going
to leave home at 18.
Conclusion:
To conclude, the Summer Heights High program displayed many comedic techniques, in the two
particular scene that i mentioned mainly satire and taboo were used and also film techniques were
used to show emotion that Jonahs father was displaying when they were telling him what Jonah
drew. The second scene it was mainly all taboo with what Ja mie was saying to her mum it was
really dark and crude humour, which is what made it such a memorable part if the

Difference Between Private School And Private Schools
There has always been a large debate between private and public schools. Even though this
argument has been going on for a long time, no one can seem to figure out which is the better
choice. Some of the main things people tend to focus on when comparing and contrasting the two
types of schools are tuition, academic environment, curriculum, athletics, and how the students are
disciplined. Each of these is equality important in their own ways to people when choosing what
school they think is best for them. The first topic, which is very important is tuition. Tuition is a
crucial part of making a decision for school because that s where the money comes in. Academics
are also one of the main factors in choosing a school for a good educationis the whole reason why
people usually attend a certain school. Next are athletics may not be the deciding factor, but for
some people they base the school they want to go to off of how well the school s athletics are
doing. Lastly discipline is also sometimes considered because the possible attendee might want to
know how the students are punished. Out of all of these different topics to consider when choosing
a private schooleducation comes out on top for all of these because of the smaller school
environment and a more in depth attention to detail when dealing with students. Tuition is a big
factor when considering a school someone wants to go to. The main difference between public
schools and private schools when it comes down to

Analysis Of The Poem The Bridge
Vanessa loves the woods. She goes there every day, after doing her chores, and comes back at
sundown, when the sun seeks under into its bed and while the moon rises up awake. One
pleasant day Vanessa was walking in the woods with her puppy. She came upon a bridge that
never seemed to be there, but Vanessa had taken this path a hundred times but she s never seen a
bridge, since it was getting late Vanessa left to go home. The very next day when the sun rised
over the whole town, Vanessa quickly and quietly snuck out of the house, she was curious about
that bridge, something about it just hooked her. Once Vanessa had arrived in the woods the
same Bridge was there though she had thought that it would have been way farther, for some
reason Vanessa felt like that the bridge was just waiting for her. She first checked if the bridge
was sturdy enough and in her opinion it was fine, it s not like spontaneously she is just going to
fall into the stream. But SPLASH! Unfortunately that s exactly what happened. But It s not what
you think the water barely touched her she was on land it looked like the same place that she
was in before. Then suddenly she heard a voice. She suspected that it wasn t really anything just
a few teenagers doing some stuff of their own or just talking. But to her surprise it was no one
well no one as a human. There were only trees., Vanessa saw a light, it kept coming closer and
closer she decided to follow it, whatever it was. The unusual light took

The Influence Of NASA
Have you ever looked up into the night sky and contemplated the many wonders and splendors
that abound our universe? If you have then you might have also noticed that our universe doesn
t only consist of the splendidness that we can see with our eyes alone, but with many other
mysteries that we have yet not solved. In addition, as humans it has always been our nature to be
curious and therefore, it has also been our greatest avidity to explore and discover things that are
foreign to us. For instance, to many people it has become a significant objective to go beyond
the impossible, sometimes in the pursuit to try and gain a greater perception of not only the
world we live in, but also of the things that exist around us. In addition, as people s passion to
learn about space has enlarged, many space groups and administrations have flourished. Thus
many people have began to take on the role to try and go beyond the limits of the planet we live
in, in other words, explore space. However, time has shown that in order to reach such
achievements, great amounts of money are needed. Furthermore, over the past few years the U.S
has been contributing to one of the world s largest air and spacecraft administration, otherwise
known as NASAby funding money to it. In addition, it has been these contributions that have led
to its many discoveries, which have taken part of our lives in one way or another. Therefore, as
NASA s discoveries have extended and taken on different areas, the

The Theory of Evolusion Revised Essay
There is a monkey in your family tree. Whether that is fact or theory, and the difference, Stephen
Jay Gould explains in, Evolution as Fact and Theory , which appeared in the May 1981 issue of
Discover Magazine. Mr. Gould was described by the New York Times as, one of the most
influential evolutionary biologists of the 20th century (Yoon). He wants to show how the
creationist s have built their argument against evolutionon sand, and the evolutionist s argument
built on solid rock, as any paleontologist would prefer. It is a war of words, where their meaning,
use and misuse, determine on which side you stand. His argument is not perfect, but using lack of
perfection as evidence of evolution, he makes the case quite convincingly. It is... Show more content

In contrast, Gould logically lays out three facts to buttress his evolution stance. He states, ... we
have abundant, direct, observational evidence of evolution in action, from both the field and the
laboratory (440). The other two: the imperfection of nature, and transitions in the fossil record,
...rest upon inference , which is then explained to the reader (441). Up to this point, Gould s
argument follows the path of logic, reason, and objectivity. However, as he picks apart the
creationists argument, he ratchets up his emotions a notch or two. He readily confesses, If I should
sound sharp or bitter, indeed I am for I have become a major target of these practices (442).
Justified or not, he seems to take personally, criticism of the theory, punctuated equilibrium, which
he and colleague Niles Eldredge developed. The tone is angry, but he uses direct quotes from his
opponents to show how he has been misquoted and his message twisted, which infuriates him.
Duane Gish wrote, ...according to Gould, a reptile laid an egg from which the first bird, feathers
and all, was produced , which is just one example (443). The author manages largely, to reign in his
anger, and he sounds almost conciliatory when admitting to the arrogance of the scientific
community. Claiming to be mainly saddened by the sometimes bitter feud with creationists, the
impression is of someone who is tired. Tired of fighting a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Piaget

Piaget s definition of schema was a cohesive, repeatable action sequence possessing component

Development Piaget changed how people saw a child s world and their technique of studying

in comprehending and corresponding with children, mainly in the educational field.
Disadvantages of cognitive development Piaget focused on the universal stages of concentrated
on cognitive development and biological process. He did not consider the effect that the social
setting and cultures may have on cognitive development. Piaget s methods are more biased
because he only did observation on his own and not with another researcher to compare and check
for correlation. Piaget s test were challenging to comprehend hence the reason why the abilities of
children were underrated. Piaget used small sample size of participant for his studies. He used
only children from Switzerland which is where he is from. Therefore this Sample is biased because

My First Accounting Position For A National...
Financial Statement Research
I am very excited to shine in my first accounting position for a national telecommunications
company. My supervisor approached me regarding the controller s concerns as the company
profits are down for the past fiscal year compared to the last five years. Therefore, I have been
asked to do the following:
Make a simple adjustment by recalculating the depreciation from five years to ten years. Since the
machine is paid, the depreciation really does not matter.
Make an adjusting journal entry by transferring repairs and maintenance expenses to capital assets.
Depreciation and Journal Expense Adjustments
Depreciation is the process of allocating the cost of an asset to expense over its useful life. It is an
annual allowance for the wear and tear, deterioration or obsolescence of the property. According to
the IRS, in order for a taxpayer to be allowed a depreciation deduction for a property, the taxpayer
must own the property (IRS 2015). Therefore, the supervisor s claim that the depreciation thing
does not matter since the equipment is paid is inaccurate. We own the property; therefore, the
recalculation can occur in the following circumstances:
Wear and tear or obsolescence can indicate an inadequate or excessive equipment value, therefore
the company, can change the amount of the depreciation expense.
Additions and improvements occur which increase the operating efficiency or expected useful life
of the asset. Since these

Investigating The Distillation Apparatus For Operation At...
1.1PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Solar still (distillation) is the process used to distil impure water using solar energy. The input is
muddy/brackish/saline water and we get pure water as output.
This project revolves around design and fabrication of a solar distillation apparatus, which will give
efficient distillation on a round the clock basis, and is capable of providing rural areas with pure
and healthy drinking water supply.
We will be concentrating our efforts on re designing the distillation apparatus for operation at
maximum efficiency. The distillation tank will rest on a platform made of cast iron. A
commercially available storage tank will be used for storing the saline water. This tank will then
be covered by a glass cover, on top and other suitable materials will be used as thermal shield on the
sides, to retain the heat. Reflectors will be added to supplement the incoming solar radiation. To
make this apparatus function continuously, we plan to attach a solar panel powered rechargeable
battery to an auxiliary heater which would help distil the water during night time. The sediment
accumulated as impurity can be removed by manual cleaning of the internal tank once a week
/fortnight.
This entire process of designing and fabrication of this apparatus will take about 7 8 months after
which it will be put to rigorous testing for about 2 months, to validate our claims.
Due to rising sea water levels, increased use of chemical fertilizers and lack water distribution

Loyalists Dbq Essay
The American Revolution was the revolution of the American colonies against Britain, it s
mother country. The Continental Congress, a group of delegates from each colony, voted in
favor of the Revolution on July 1st, 1776. They were tired of Britain taxing them and not treating
them as proper citizens of Britain, and decided to break away from Britain and emerge as an
independent country. There are few reasons that colonists would choose the Patriot side or choose
the Loyalist side during the Revolutionary War. 2 reasons for colonists to support Britain is that
Britain had the upper hand militarily and financially, and the Patriots were acting barbaric towards
a loyalist just because he supported King George. 2 reasons for a colonist to support the Patriots

6 Scientific Methods
During my reading of the scientific method and how they are essential to invention and
innovation. I found six methods to scientific. Each method has a purpose to assure that you are
giving the experiment a fair test. The first method is to Make an Observation one should take
notice by watching or identify. The second method is to Ask a Question by doing this you can
find out the WH questions words. Those are the how, what, when, who, which, why, or where? For
the third method is to form A Hypothesis to assume a basis for an argument. Then for step four is
to Performing Experiment this is to test to see if your hypothesis is supported or not. As you move
on to the fifth step Evaluating the Results at this point you will determine if your argument is being
supported or not. As the sixth step that will bring you to completion, you will have to Determining
a Conclusion you will have the opportunity to express you re finding from the experiment to others.

Analysis Of Half A Day By Naguib Mahfouz
Time was a system created to help us organize our lives, but isn t it just a ticking clock telling us
how much we have left? In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In
Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly
passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing
quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to
experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him
Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is
trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be
taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his
father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was
trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new

Advantages Of Just In Time Manufacturing
Introduction Just In Time Manufacturing
Just in time manufacturing was a concept introduced to the United States by the ford motor
company. It works on a demand pull basis, contrary to hitherto used techniques, which worked on a
production push basis.
To elaborate further, under just in time manufacturing (colloquially referred to as just in time
production systems), actual orders dictate what should be manufactured, so that the exact quantity
is produced at the exact time that is required.
Just in time manufacturing goes hand in hand with concepts such as Kanban, continuous
improvement and total quality management (TQM).
Just in time production requires intricate planning in terms of procurement policies and the
manufacturing process if its implementation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it especially appealing today, where the market demand is volatile and somewhat
unpredictable.
пЃ¶Just in time manufacturing encourages the right first time concept, so that inspection costs and
cost of rework is minimized.
пЃ¶High quality products and greater efficiency can be derived from following a just in time
production system.
Disadvantages Just In Time Systems
пЃ¶Just in time manufacturing provides zero tolerance for mistakes, as it makes re working very
difficult in practice, as inventory is kept to a bare minimum.
пЃ¶There is a high reliance on suppliers, whose performance is generally outside the purview of the
manufacturer.
пЃ¶Due to there being no buffers for delays, production downtime and line idling can occur which
would bear a detrimental effect on finances and on the equilibrium of the production process.
пЃ¶The organization would not be able to meet an unexpected increase in orders due to the fact that
there are no excess finish goods.
пЃ¶Transaction costs would be relatively high as frequent transactions would be

From the District of Mansigne is most likely a letter or pamphlet written by the Third Estate, also

in these administrations a number of representatives chosen from its order, equal to that of the other

Moving on to the time period of this document this document was written March 1, 1789 a

significant amount of commotion arising from the people of the Third Estate. The people of
the Third Estate were trying to voice their opinions on the oppressive political and economic
situations occurring at this time in France in order to try and bring about a reform. These
oppressive political and economic situations that the Third Estate were trying to reform included
things such as the king heavily taxing only the Third Estate, who already did not even have the
finances to survive let alone pay these high taxes. Another example is the fact that the Third
Estate did not have equal representatives in the political society to represent their wants and

The Credibility Of Cyberbullying In Public Schools
Schools, given little guidance from the state, have a difficult time understanding what
circumstances of cyberbullying they can or must respond to. Legislation will pass a law that
generalizes cyberbullying as a whole, without any specific management of how or when schools
can take action against such cases. As a result, many states pass laws saying schools need to deal
with this. This may be the easier choice to make in the short term, but unfortunately, in the long run
this choice does not help provide specific instructions, guidelines for what to base choices off of
and does not provide any additional resources to address these conflicts. Even though some states
require schools to teach students and staff about cyberbullying and how to... Show more content on

Gold And Its Impact On The Economy
Throughout history, gold has been viewed as an asset with high intrinsic value which was
flocked to during tumultuous times. The price of gold has typically fluctuated with political,
economic and inflationary threats, falling during booming markets and rising in recession.
Since the precious metal doesn t generate cash flow, its value has been closely tied to the status
of the economy. Yet, gold is failing to prove its counter cyclical nature in recent years. Tracing
back gold s history reveals its theoretical appeal has been as crisis insurance with the value of the
precious metal independent of anything else in the economy. However, as the perception of gold
shifts away from a safe haven investment, the value of gold could be severely impacted, turning
investors to alternatives forms of hedging market volatility. Is Gold Counter Cyclical? In the world
economy, gold is one of the most complicated assets to price. Unlike stocks, currencies and other
commodities, the value of the precious metal isn t determined by fundamentals or supply and
demand. Instead, it has been widely thought that gold moves inversely with the strength of the
economy. When the economy is doing well and growing, gold prices tend to fall and vice versa
when the economy contracts. This happens because gold holds high intrinsic value in the eyes of
investors, whether its in the form of jewelry or financial investments. That said, many
macroeconomic variables in booming and busting economies play a

Essay about Solar Energy and Storage
1. Introduction
As fast increase in energy depletion is nearly related to an increase in a population, people face
several environmental problems such as decreasing energy resources, global climate change and
greenhouse emission. The integrated systems for combined generation of useful outputs are
spreading around the world fast, since they offer diverse advantages, such as higher efficiency, low
operating cost. Energy application choices are restricted by thermodynamic principles.
Comprehension of exergy application methods can help identifying. An integrated system energy

Al Sulaiman et.al [Exergy modeling of a new solar driven trigeneration system] have used exergy
modeling in order to evaluate the exergetic performance of a novel trigeneration system utilizing
parabolic trough solar collector (PTSC).
Solar PDCs concentrate solar radiation to a single focal point by means of one or more parabolic
dishes. PDCs have concentration ratios in the range of 600 2000. As a result, they are rather
efficient at thermal energy absorption and power conversion processes. Thus, PDC is selected to be
the prime mover for the integrated system in this study.
Absorption chillers can make use of renewable energy resources, such as solar, geothermal and
biomass, in order to generate cooling. The other benefits of absorption refrigeration systems are
that they do not cause ozone layer retrenchment, they make use of natural refrigerants possibly
having less CO2 emissions and they are independent of electric grids. The most common
commercially suitable absorption refrigeration systems are single and double effect systems. In
double effect absorption refrigeration systems, a secondary fluid (absorbent) is used to circulate
and to absorb the primary fluid (refrigerant). The success of the absorption relies on the selection of
an appropriate combination of absorbent and refrigerant. The most widespread absorbent and
refrigerant combinations in absorption refrigeration systems have

Manipulative Kate of All My Sons by Arthur Miller
All My Sons is a play about the trials and tribulations of the normal everyday suburbia. The play
brings out the reality that not everything is perfect. Holes are created by the fight between good
and evil. In this play the evil is the act of lying, and the good is the innocence of ignorance. The
play starts with an everyday business man given the age old fight of man versus himself. He had to
decide whether or not to ship defective parts. On the one side if he did not, he would lose his
business and his life as he knew it. On the other hand, he could send parts that could kill innocent
others. Evil came out of him and he lied and shipped the defective parts. Later on twenty one ...

telling Kate keeps their decision at bay. The plan was for Ann and Larry to get married after his
return. Kate insists the proposed marriage will occur. Chris will also never get approval from his
mother, thus making his marriage obsolete. Kate also greatly affects her husband Joe. She keeps
Joe thinking about the twenty one soldiers that he killed because of his defective parts. Joe tries
to forgive himself for the terrible mistake he caused years back. Kate reminds Joe that her son
Larry could have been one of those soldiers in the sky. Joe tries to assure himself that Larry was

The Colonization Of Kenya Under British Rule And Its...
Colonization is when a country moves from its shores to set up settlements in areas already
inhabited by a certain group of people and where resistance is of least concern in terms of war.
This paper will first discus the colonization of Africa as well as how and why the Europeans came
to Africa. It will then look at common problems that occurred due to the colonization and will
specifically look into the colonization of Kenyaunder British rule and its outcomes that made the
country worse. Even though colonization in some cases had positive impacts, such as the creation
of infrastructure, it was more of a negative impact on African countries, such as Kenya, because of
loss of sovereignty and culture, exploitation of resources and rights. It is also important to consider
that despite the positive impacts such as better infrastructure, it was meant to benefit the European
powers as opposed to helping the native peoples in the regions. Colonization is caused by several
factors, such as overpopulation, civil unrest, religious intolerance and poverty in the origin
countries. However, colonization due to imperialism is a major factor for colonization. In 1492, the
Europeans reach and colonize the North Americas to establish new settlements, but disregard the
native populations and resulted in loss of sovereignty. Similarly, Africawas colonized by major
European powers in the 19th century, from the 1870 s to the 1900 s. Africa was a land that had

This sculpture was given the title, Dionysus, and is dated at 50 150 A.D. During that period, the
Roman Empire went through a civil war, multiple rebellions, a couple disastrous fires, the building

thirteen different Emperors. One of which started the Flavian Dynasty, which would bring

The Excerpts From The Overspent American I Was Not...
Before reading the excerpts from The Overspent American I was not familiar with Juliet Schor s
work. While reading however, I saw that her views were different from many of the other
authors that we have read so far. When I had finished the reading I found the reading enjoyable
and fascinating. The reason that her writing intrigued me was because of her multiple
perspectives while writing. Not only does she concentrate on the economics of American
people, but she also uses a sociologist lens to show the purchasing habits of our culture. The
Overspent American focuses on how we as a society have changed our spending patterns from
the past. During the 1950s the phrase keeping up with the Jones was coined and it represented
Americans trying to outspend their neighbors and friends. For example, my friend buys a boat
and I also need to buy a boat to make sure my friends saw me as being wealthy. Today our society
as changed in many ways but Schor finds that our spending habits have altered the most since the
1950s. By analyzing and evaluating her work, one can see how Americans spending habits have
changed over time and how our economics have been overtaken by televisionand broadcast media.
As mentioned earlier, during the 1950s people were more likely to compare themselves to their
neighbors and community. There was limited forms of media that everyone saw on a mass scale
so most class groups would read or watch the same movies, books, etc. People would look out their

Benefits Of An Limited Liability Company From A Legal...
The LLC remains a limited liability company from a legal standpoint, but for tax purposes it can
be treated as an S Corp. Be sure to contact the state s income tax agency where you plan to file
your election form. Ask about the tax requirements and if they recognize elections of other entities
(such as the S Corp).
Advantages of an LLC:
Limited Liability. Members are protected from personal liability for business decisions or actions
of the LLC. This means that if the LLC incurs debt or is sued, members personal assets are usually
exempt. This is similar to the liability protections afforded to shareholders of a corporation. Keep in
mind that limited liability means limited liability members are not necessarily shielded from
wrongful acts, including those of their employees.
Less Recordkeeping. An LLC s operational ease is one of its greatest advantages. Compared to an
S Corporation, there is less registration paperwork and there are smaller start up costs.
Sharing of Profits. There are fewer restrictions on profit sharing within an LLC, as members
distribute profits as they see fit. Members might contribute different proportions of capital and
sweat equity. Consequently, it s up to the members themselves to decide who has earned what
percentage of the profits or losses.
Disadvantages of an LLC:
Limited Life. In many states, when a member leaves an LLC, the business is dissolved and the
members must fulfill all remaining legal and business obligations to close

Life In Tropical Rainforests In The Tropical Rainforests
We may not realize it but many of our everyday necessities come from all sorts of things that live
in nature. Whether it s paper or beauty products, we rely on nature for certain things we need
and use. What we also may not realize is the demands for certain necessities are the reason why
all life within nature decreases. This is primarily focused on tropical rainforests. Over the years
we have slowly decreased life within them. We have even cut down parts or entire rainforests to
make space for certain facilities we use. This is bad for us and for all life within rainforests. We

To reconcile is to weave a strong and more vibrant social fabric, based on the unique and diverse

Quebec s french citizens were going through a time of survival La Survivance where their
language was struggling to stay an official language of Canada (Unitas). Major conflict arose
when the authority made the schools provide french education for only the two beginning years in
elementary (Unitas). Their decision lead the French to consider the actions of the government as
an act of treachery ( Homefront ). To make matter worse the government tried to fix this situation
by letting the parents of the children decide whether they wanted their child to be instructed in
English or French. The authority s resolution was perceived as favouring the english population.
Due to all these issues the Francophones wanted power so they could decide and give input
regarding problems that involved them. When this idea was rejected the October Crisis was
created; a British trade commissioner and, the minister of labour were kidnapped ( Quebec ). As a
result, the October Crisis was considered one the worst reconciliation in the nation.
The last fault that Canada has made was their actions towards immigrants, and other people of

Triumph of the city
Problem Description:
Williamsburg has become one of the most popular areas in the New York City. In the last fiteen
years, the neighborhood has transformed from a hub of industry and haven for immigrants to a
neighborhood filled with young professionals and a thriving art scene. According to NYU s
Furman Center, Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods saw average rent increase by 78.7
percent between 1990 and 2014, compared to 22.1 percent in the city as a whole (Kinney, 2016).
These massive rent increases have meant that many long term residents of Williamsburg can no
longer afford to live in the neighborhood.
Background Information and History of Gentrification in Williamsburg: Williamsburg is located on
the North end of Brooklyn, New York and for centuries has served as a thriving hub of
manufacturing and industry due to its access to ports and short distance from Manhattan. In the
early twentieth century, many Polish and Italian immigrants settled on the North side of
Williamsburg because of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy,...
American Literature
9 March 2013
The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy, and Editha Charlotte Perkins Gilman s
piece, The Yellow Wallpaper (written in 1890, published in 1892), is a semi autobiographical piece
that, although believed to be a result of her severe postpartum depression, illustrates the difficulties
faced by women during the Women s Movement. These difficulties are further illustrated by the
similarly semi autobiographical poem, based on Plath s father and husband, Daddy by Sylvia Plath
(written in 1962, published in 1965). These gender roles are then reversed in Editha, (written in
1898, published in 1905) which has been said to be William Dean Howells s response to the Spanish
American War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial description of this woman is of her stooping down and creeping about. The woman in
the wallpaper is a direct reflection of the narrator s confidence and feelings of inferiority, and the
change they undergo. Initially, the woman in the wall symbolizes the narrator s fear of
presenting herself and her opinions, and being her husband s equal. She begins to display a
building confidence in herself, and an almost amused view of John s orders. When John tells her
that she seems to be doing well, in spite of the wallpaper, she has to stop herself from openly
laughing. It is at this point, where she is building confidence in herself, that she begins to see the
woman in the wallpaper more clearly. She states, I think that woman gets out in the daytime! And I
ll tell you why privately I ve seen her! symbolizing her confidence beginning to emerge. Finally,
she allows herself to be fully confident; she allows her mind to fully explore the wallpaper. The
lines, then I peeled off all the paper I could reach standing on the floor. It sticks horribly and the
pattern just enjoys it, symbolizes the destruction of that which limits her. One may argue that she
has had a psychotic break, but the intention of these lines is to show the narrator gaining
confidence. As Gilman says herself in an article submitted to the October 1913 issue of The
Forerunner regarding her treatment: then, using the remnants of intelligence that remained [...] I

The Main Idea Reformation Of Jews
The main idea was Reformation of Germans Christians nobility. The important point, words,
sentences in were: Gods grace and power was the only thing that could deliver people from
distress and oppression. Secondly people cried for deliverance from suffering. Third was to sincere
trust in God. There is no king saved by multitudes of an host [Luther 301]. Fourth, we must humbly
fear God. Many Germanys emperors were shamefully oppressed and trodden Popes. Fifth,
Romanist with great adroitness had built three walls. Sixth, King and Princes were intimidated
make them believe it would be an offence against God not to obey them in all these knavish, crafty
deceptions. Seventh, It is pure inventions that Pope, Bishops, Priest, and monks are to be called the
spiritual estate ; princes, lord artisans, and famers the temporal estate. That indeed a fine bit of
lying and hypocrisy. Yet no one should be frightened by it; and for this reason viz., that all
Christians are truly of spiritual estate ; and there is among them no difference at all but that of
office , as Paul says in 1 Corinthians xii, we are all one body yet every member has its own
work, whereby it serves every other, all because we have one baptism, one Gospel, one faith, and
are all alike Christians ; [Luther 302] for baptism, Gospel and faith alone makes us spiritual and a
Christian people. Lastly according to St. Paul teaching that all Christians shall be taught of God. If

On way out I fired up the laptop and picked up a free wi fi connection at the Murtala Muhammad
airport, so I kept myself busy for the hour and half wait for my flight, I can go on and on.
The laptops of today are very powerful so the difference in power between a laptop and desktop is
decreasing. If you look at it the other way around, I would say a laptop has more advantages over a
desktop. At leasts in my humble opinion. Re: Advantages Of Desktop Computers Versus
Laptops? by rof lmao: 3:04am On Mar 26, 2007 SMH @ more heat = faster performance ! And
what has keyboard, mouse, and monitor got to do? You can easily get your desired ones and plug
them into your laptop just like you do your desktop. Battery life is a dodgy claim as well. My
laptop runs easily for 3 4hrs on battery and I ve watched two full length DVDs back to back on
battery.
The legitimate advantages of a desktop have already been stated: cheaper, easier to upgrade or
replace components, and less appealing to a thief! But that s price for portability and mobility.
The only area desktop owns laptop is advance gaming and other processor intensive applications!
Any else and certainly for the average PC user(i.e 90%+ PC users!) the laptop can do as desktop.
Things are even getting better with laptops: I read that battery capable of running for 8hrs could
soon be in the market, Core Duo and Core 2 Duo and

an environmental economy and will able to live upwards to his or her responsibilities of citizenship
6. Two free all schools from drugs and violence so that learning can take place. Admitting that the
White House tact sheet had accompanied and take action for the change for American educationwas
considered for a number of reasons. The reason being was that 8 years pursuing the publication of A
Nation at Risk (1983), educational results was not significantly improved. Second, our global
participants and partners were really taking education extremely well because American students
were about the lynchpin of the large numbers in worldwide assessments. Understandably, that a
principal role for legislative initiative was to accomplish competitive educational excellence, which
would help to improve global economic competitiveness. Reforms in Special educationare facing

what Walter Mitty hears. Walter is a daydreaming man who lives by his Wife s every command.
He is always thinking, imagining, and exploring his thoughts, causing him to daydream. Stories
like this use lots of literary elements, for example plot development, external conflict, and
internal conflict, these elements add lots of details to the story. To begin with the story s plot is

Summary Of Ricketson s God Is Chiefly The Leader
William Fenwick wrote, God is chiefly the Leader, in which, this reader does not contemplate
being an issue of Rusty Ricketson s perspective, in his book. In completing the reading
throughout Ricketson s book it is this reader s understanding that God the Creator of all that is
created, is the One whom His creation glorifies, and is the only Leader of all creation. To follow
the Son of God, JesusChrist, is to glorify God, the Head of all. In addition, William proclaimed,
Leadershipsaturates Scripture, which is this reader s assumption why Ricketson referred heavily on
the Word of God, to support each point discussed or contended.
The writer, William stated, God chose men to lead. He referenced leaders such as Moses, Aaron,
and Solomon.

Descriptive Essay About Roller Coaster
A Rollercoaster Ride
I was standing in line with my sister and cousin waiting to get on the Viper . We were at Six
Flags having already been in the long line an hour and a half. We all went on our favorite rides,
then we decided to go on the roller coaster. This was going to be my very first ever roller coaster
in my life. Then the rollercoaster conductor told us to get in the coaster. I jumped in, put my
seatbelt on and listened to the safety precautions. Then the conductor pressed the button and we
were off.
My sister, Anna, said in a soft voice, so she would not wake up my brother Drew, Wake up. Wake
up Andrew. We need to pick up Melissa.
I was still drowsing, but I was awake. I got my clothes on, and then went to get my phone and ...

Anna told me after one of the rides, Hey, we should ride a roller coaster.
I do not want to ride one though. They look big and scary. I responded
Just trust me. It will be fun. My sister said.
So we all decided to go on the Viper and we went to the area where it was located and we hopped in
line. It said on the board a 1 and a half hour wait, so luckily I still had battery on my phone. Time
passed and we got onto the roller coaster. I got in the very front of the coaster and put my seatbelt
on. I was as nervous as I would ever be in my life. I was sweating because of how nervous I was.
The voice told us about the precautions of the roller coaster that I had already heard a million times
before standing in line.
Then the roller coaster jerked forward and we were off. We went up slowly and I was ready for a
big drop. I closed my eyes and then the roller coaster suddenly went down. I had this weird feeling
inside of my gut. It was extremely fast and really high up. It took multiple turns and drops and I
closed my eyes for all of the drops. Then the roller coaster suddenly went slower and we were at
the start of the ride. I got off and met with my sister and cousin.
See it was not that bad. My sister told me.
Nope, I am never riding a roller coaster ever again in my life. I responded back.
We rode some more rides after the coaster and then we had to meet up with

In Australia there are four species which are seen mainly in coastal areas on sand dunes. Pigface is a succulent plant that spreads up to 2 or more metres, flatly across the ground with thick waxy succulent leaves growing up to 100mm long and has large daisy like flowers which grow about 45mm in diameter. This plant usually has purple petals with a white or yellow centre. fruits and leaves are edible. The water stored in the leaves act as storage organs enabling the plant to survive hot dry summers on coastal cliffs and sand. (Unique Flora of Tasmania, 2016)... Art of the Egyptians and Africans Art of the Egyptians and Africans Art of the Egyptians and Africans express .............................In art, style is a characteristic, or a number of characteristics that we can identify as constant, recurring, or coherent.(Art Terminology 1) Artists express their emotions through their art making, their finished product will reflect that emotion. They might also create a piece of art that makes the viewer create an emotional response. Emotion is any strong agitation of the feelings actuated by experiencing love, hate, fear, etc.(Dictionary 1) Ancient Egyptian art is five thousand years old. It emerged and took shape in the ancient Egypt, the civilization of the Nile Valley. Ancient Egyptian art was shown with emotion beautifully in painting and sculpture, and was both highly symbolic and stylized. The exceptional traditions in Egypt is one of the most important things in the history of art. The tombs and temples of the Egyptians have expressed the grandeur of the kingdom of the Nile. Egyptian sculptors and painters began to formulate patterns to represent figures and stories. Egyptians used the art to represent a continuation of life after death, it was an important part of their culture. They believed that, in order for the spirit to live on, the dead person s body had to be preserved, or mummified, and buried along with supplies of food and drink, tools and utensils, valued possessions. • 4. BY 1943 By 1943, Mussolini had created a totalitarian regime in Italy . Explain why you agree or disagree with this view. (24 marks). Most historians have suggested that Mussolini had not created a totalitarian regime in Italy by 1943 due to the fact that Fascism remained a secondary belief for the majority of Italy, superseded by religion. However Mussolini did achieve a totalitarian state in some respects. For example, his use of propaganda was successful in propagating the idea of the Cult of the Duce , a campaign with the aim of almost deifying Mussolini and giving him abnormal qualities, such as always being right, being able to do anything, and having endless physical strength. Posters and photographs with Mussolini, frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are also many respects in which Mussolini did not create a totalitarian state. The fact that Mussolini had to make deals such as the Lateran Pacts in 1929 to accommodate the Church shows that he did not have total control over Italy. Fascism was a secondary belief to the majority of Italy who still fully believed and had faith in Catholicism. The Lateran Pacts specifically accepted the dominant position of the Church in Italian society, meaning that Mussolini knew that the Church were too big an organisation to fight against, so he had to rule alongside them. The regime was not totalitarian as the Lateran Pacts also gave the Church control over education as teachers and textbooks had to be approved by the Church, meaning that the facistisation of Education was limited for Mussolini. It is true that with the approval of the Church, Mussolini gained far greater support, however it meant that his popular support was based on the word and approval of the Church, and his position could become untenable if the Church started to disapprove of him. In addition, Mussolini had to make many concessions to high powered people and organisations within Italy to remain dictator without any opposition from the elite groups in Italy such as the King, the Liberals, the army and the Confindustria. The King represented a major grouping in Italian society, the upper middle class and aristocracy, and elements, like the Armed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a mockumentary which takes place at Summer Heights Heigh, it was filmed over a school term. The show was centered around three characters Jonah, Ja mie and a drama teacher called Mr.G. Jonah is a 13 year old boy from Tongah who has disciplinary problems and does not like to participate at school. Ja mie is a private school girl that is on an exchange program. Just like the last scene satire was again used along with taboo, a lot of the comedy portrayed in this television show has a lot to do with satire and taboo. Pseudo science is portrayed a lot throughout this scene with the sayings Ja mie with how she will get pregnant and how she is going to leave home at 18. Conclusion: To conclude, the Summer Heights High program displayed many comedic techniques, in the two particular scene that i mentioned mainly satire and taboo were used and also film techniques were used to show emotion that Jonahs father was displaying when they were telling him what Jonah drew. The second scene it was mainly all taboo with what Ja mie was saying to her mum it was really dark and crude humour, which is what made it such a memorable part if the ... • 6. Difference Between Private School And Private Schools There has always been a large debate between private and public schools. Even though this argument has been going on for a long time, no one can seem to figure out which is the better choice. Some of the main things people tend to focus on when comparing and contrasting the two types of schools are tuition, academic environment, curriculum, athletics, and how the students are disciplined. Each of these is equality important in their own ways to people when choosing what school they think is best for them. The first topic, which is very important is tuition. Tuition is a crucial part of making a decision for school because that s where the money comes in. Academics are also one of the main factors in choosing a school for a good educationis the whole reason why people usually attend a certain school. Next are athletics may not be the deciding factor, but for some people they base the school they want to go to off of how well the school s athletics are doing. Lastly discipline is also sometimes considered because the possible attendee might want to know how the students are punished. Out of all of these different topics to consider when choosing a private schooleducation comes out on top for all of these because of the smaller school environment and a more in depth attention to detail when dealing with students. Analysis Of The Poem The Bridge Vanessa loves the woods. She goes there every day, after doing her chores, and comes back at sundown, when the sun seeks under into its bed and while the moon rises up awake. One pleasant day Vanessa was walking in the woods with her puppy. She came upon a bridge that never seemed to be there, but Vanessa had taken this path a hundred times but she s never seen a bridge, since it was getting late Vanessa left to go home. The very next day when the sun rised over the whole town, Vanessa quickly and quietly snuck out of the house, she was curious about that bridge, something about it just hooked her. Once Vanessa had arrived in the woods the same Bridge was there though she had thought that it would have been way farther, for some reason Vanessa felt like that the bridge was just waiting for her. She first checked if the bridge was sturdy enough and in her opinion it was fine, it s not like spontaneously she is just going to fall into the stream. But SPLASH! If you have then you might have also noticed that our universe doesn t only consist of the splendidness that we can see with our eyes alone, but with many other mysteries that we have yet not solved. In addition, as humans it has always been our nature to be curious and therefore, it has also been our greatest avidity to explore and discover things that are foreign to us. For instance, to many people it has become a significant objective to go beyond the impossible, sometimes in the pursuit to try and gain a greater perception of not only the world we live in, but also of the things that exist around us. In addition, as people s passion to learn about space has enlarged, many space groups and administrations have flourished. Thus many people have began to take on the role to try and go beyond the limits of the planet we live in, in other words, explore space. However, time has shown that in order to reach such achievements, great amounts of money are needed. Furthermore, over the past few years the U.S has been contributing to one of the world s largest air and spacecraft administration, otherwise known as NASAby funding money to it. In addition, it has been these contributions that have led to its many discoveries, which have taken part of our lives in one way or another. • 10. The Theory of Evolusion Revised Essay There is a monkey in your family tree. Whether that is fact or theory, and the difference, Stephen Jay Gould explains in, Evolution as Fact and Theory , which appeared in the May 1981 issue of Discover Magazine. Mr. Gould was described by the New York Times as, one of the most influential evolutionary biologists of the 20th century (Yoon). He wants to show how the creationist s have built their argument against evolutionon sand, and the evolutionist s argument built on solid rock, as any paleontologist would prefer. It is a war of words, where their meaning, use and misuse, determine on which side you stand. His argument is not perfect, but using lack of perfection as evidence of evolution, he makes the case quite convincingly. It is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, Gould logically lays out three facts to buttress his evolution stance. He states, ... we have abundant, direct, observational evidence of evolution in action, from both the field and the laboratory (440). The other two: the imperfection of nature, and transitions in the fossil record, ...rest upon inference , which is then explained to the reader (441). Up to this point, Gould s argument follows the path of logic, reason, and objectivity. However, as he picks apart the creationists argument, he ratchets up his emotions a notch or two. He readily confesses, If I should sound sharp or bitter, indeed I am for I have become a major target of these practices (442). Justified or not, he seems to take personally, criticism of the theory, punctuated equilibrium, which he and colleague Niles Eldredge developed. The tone is angry, but he uses direct quotes from his opponents to show how he has been misquoted and his message twisted, which infuriates him. Duane Gish wrote, ...according to Gould, a reptile laid an egg from which the first bird, feathers and all, was produced , which is just one example (443). The author manages largely, to reign in his anger, and he sounds almost conciliatory when admitting to the arrogance of the scientific community. Claiming to be mainly saddened by the sometimes bitter feud with creationists, the impression is of someone who is tired. Tired of fighting a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. My First Accounting Position For A National... Financial Statement Research I am very excited to shine in my first accounting position for a national telecommunications company. My supervisor approached me regarding the controller s concerns as the company profits are down for the past fiscal year compared to the last five years. Therefore, I have been asked to do the following: Make a simple adjustment by recalculating the depreciation from five years to ten years. Since the machine is paid, the depreciation really does not matter. Make an adjusting journal entry by transferring repairs and maintenance expenses to capital assets. Depreciation and Journal Expense Adjustments Depreciation is the process of allocating the cost of an asset to expense over its useful life. It is an annual allowance for the wear and tear, deterioration or obsolescence of the property. According to the IRS, in order for a taxpayer to be allowed a depreciation deduction for a property, the taxpayer must own the property (IRS 2015). Therefore, the supervisor s claim that the depreciation thing does not matter since the equipment is paid is inaccurate. We own the property; therefore, the recalculation can occur in the following circumstances: Wear and tear or obsolescence can indicate an inadequate or excessive equipment value, therefore the company, can change the amount of the depreciation expense. Additions and improvements occur which increase the operating efficiency or expected useful life of the asset. Since these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In his doctrine, Truman states the importance it is for the United Sates to become involved in assisting other countries with political, military, and economic aid to all democratic nations under any kind of communist threat. He also states that the reason countries become communist is because they had the totalitarian regimes forced upon them against their will (Truman, Harry S.); therefore, in order for that not to happen, the US would restore hope into those who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed... • 14. Investigating The Distillation Apparatus For Operation At... 1.1PROBLEM SUMMARY: Solar still (distillation) is the process used to distil impure water using solar energy. The input is muddy/brackish/saline water and we get pure water as output. This project revolves around design and fabrication of a solar distillation apparatus, which will give efficient distillation on a round the clock basis, and is capable of providing rural areas with pure and healthy drinking water supply. We will be concentrating our efforts on re designing the distillation apparatus for operation at maximum efficiency. The distillation tank will rest on a platform made of cast iron. A commercially available storage tank will be used for storing the saline water. This tank will then be covered by a glass cover, on top and other suitable materials will be used as thermal shield on the sides, to retain the heat. Reflectors will be added to supplement the incoming solar radiation. To make this apparatus function continuously, we plan to attach a solar panel powered rechargeable battery to an auxiliary heater which would help distil the water during night time. The sediment accumulated as impurity can be removed by manual cleaning of the internal tank once a week /fortnight. This entire process of designing and fabrication of this apparatus will take about 7 8 months after which it will be put to rigorous testing for about 2 months, to validate our claims. Due to rising sea water levels, increased use of chemical fertilizers and lack water distribution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are few reasons that colonists would choose the Patriot side or choose the Loyalist side during the Revolutionary War. 2 reasons for colonists to support Britain is that Britain had the upper hand militarily and financially, and the Patriots were acting barbaric towards a loyalist just because he supported King George. 2 reasons for a colonist to support the Patriots are because the British were using violence and being corrupt towards the colonies and the colonists wanted to... In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. The price of gold has typically fluctuated with political, economic and inflationary threats, falling during booming markets and rising in recession. Since the precious metal doesn t generate cash flow, its value has been closely tied to the status of the economy. Yet, gold is failing to prove its counter cyclical nature in recent years. Tracing back gold s history reveals its theoretical appeal has been as crisis insurance with the value of the precious metal independent of anything else in the economy. However, as the perception of gold shifts away from a safe haven investment, the value of gold could be severely impacted, turning investors to alternatives forms of hedging market volatility. Is Gold Counter Cyclical? In the world economy, gold is one of the most complicated assets to price. Unlike stocks, currencies and other commodities, the value of the precious metal isn t determined by fundamentals or supply and demand. Instead, it has been widely thought that gold moves inversely with the strength of the economy. When the economy is doing well and growing, gold prices tend to fall and vice versa when the economy contracts. Colonization is when a country moves from its shores to set up settlements in areas already inhabited by a certain group of people and where resistance is of least concern in terms of war. This paper will first discus the colonization of Africa as well as how and why the Europeans came to Africa. It will then look at common problems that occurred due to the colonization and will specifically look into the colonization of Kenyaunder British rule and its outcomes that made the country worse. Even though colonization in some cases had positive impacts, such as the creation of infrastructure, it was more of a negative impact on African countries, such as Kenya, because of loss of sovereignty and culture, exploitation of resources and rights. It is also important to consider that despite the positive impacts such as better infrastructure, it was meant to benefit the European powers as opposed to helping the native peoples in the regions. Colonization is caused by several factors, such as overpopulation, civil unrest, religious intolerance and poverty in the origin countries. However, colonization due to imperialism is a major factor for colonization. In 1492, the Europeans reach and colonize the North Americas to establish new settlements, but disregard the native populations and resulted in loss of sovereignty. While reading however, I saw that her views were different from many of the other authors that we have read so far. When I had finished the reading I found the reading enjoyable and fascinating. The reason that her writing intrigued me was because of her multiple perspectives while writing. Not only does she concentrate on the economics of American people, but she also uses a sociologist lens to show the purchasing habits of our culture. The Overspent American focuses on how we as a society have changed our spending patterns from the past. During the 1950s the phrase keeping up with the Jones was coined and it represented Americans trying to outspend their neighbors and friends. For example, my friend buys a boat and I also need to buy a boat to make sure my friends saw me as being wealthy. Today our society as changed in many ways but Schor finds that our spending habits have altered the most since the 1950s. By analyzing and evaluating her work, one can see how Americans spending habits have changed over time and how our economics have been overtaken by televisionand broadcast media. As mentioned earlier, during the 1950s people were more likely to compare themselves to their neighbors and community. Be sure to contact the state s income tax agency where you plan to file your election form. Ask about the tax requirements and if they recognize elections of other entities (such as the S Corp). Advantages of an LLC: Limited Liability. Members are protected from personal liability for business decisions or actions of the LLC. • 39. Life In Tropical Rainforests In The Tropical Rainforests We may not realize it but many of our everyday necessities come from all sorts of things that live in nature. Whether it s paper or beauty products, we rely on nature for certain things we need and use. What we also may not realize is the demands for certain necessities are the reason why all life within nature decreases. This is primarily focused on tropical rainforests. Over the years we have slowly decreased life within them. We have even cut down parts or entire rainforests to make space for certain facilities we use. This is bad for us and for all life within rainforests. We are destroying the homes of many plants and wild life as well as the air that we breath. If we continue to harvest parts of rainforests it could destroy all the life that inhabits it forever. Rainforests are in Brazil, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and West Africa. During the day, their average temperature within them is eighty eight degrees Fahrenheit. Once it gets to be later in the evening, the temperature decreases to an average of seventy two degrees Fahrenheit. At one point, they covered about fourteen percent of the earth s surface. After years of them being harvested, currently they now only cover roughly six percent of the earth s surface. They receive anywhere from one hundred and sixty to four hundred inches of rain a year. Quebec s french citizens were going through a time of survival La Survivance where their language was struggling to stay an official language of Canada (Unitas). Major conflict arose when the authority made the schools provide french education for only the two beginning years in elementary (Unitas). Their decision lead the French to consider the actions of the government as an act of treachery ( Homefront ). To make matter worse the government tried to fix this situation by letting the parents of the children decide whether they wanted their child to be instructed in English or French. The authority s resolution was perceived as favouring the english population. Due to all these issues the Francophones wanted power so they could decide and give input regarding problems that involved them. • 43. The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy,... American Literature 9 March 2013 The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy, and Editha Charlotte Perkins Gilman s piece, The Yellow Wallpaper (written in 1890, published in 1892), is a semi autobiographical piece that, although believed to be a result of her severe postpartum depression, illustrates the difficulties faced by women during the Women s Movement. These difficulties are further illustrated by the similarly semi autobiographical poem, based on Plath s father and husband, Daddy by Sylvia Plath (written in 1962, published in 1965). These gender roles are then reversed in Editha, (written in 1898, published in 1905) which has been said to be William Dean Howells s response to the Spanish American War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The initial description of this woman is of her stooping down and creeping about. The woman in the wallpaper is a direct reflection of the narrator s confidence and feelings of inferiority, and the change they undergo. Initially, the woman in the wall symbolizes the narrator s fear of presenting herself and her opinions, and being her husband s equal. She begins to display a building confidence in herself, and an almost amused view of John s orders. When John tells her that she seems to be doing well, in spite of the wallpaper, she has to stop herself from openly laughing. It is at this point, where she is building confidence in herself, that she begins to see the woman in the wallpaper more clearly. She states, I think that woman gets out in the daytime! And I ll tell you why privately I ve seen her! symbolizing her confidence beginning to emerge. Finally, she allows herself to be fully confident; she allows her mind to fully explore the wallpaper. The lines, then I peeled off all the paper I could reach standing on the floor. It sticks horribly and the pattern just enjoys it, symbolizes the destruction of that which limits her. One may argue that she has had a psychotic break, but the intention of these lines is to show the narrator gaining confidence. Yet no one should be frightened by it; and for this reason viz., that all Christians are truly of spiritual estate ; and there is among them no difference at all but that of office , as Paul says in 1 Corinthians xii, we are all one body yet every member has its own work, whereby it serves every other, all because we have one baptism, one Gospel, one faith, and are all alike Christians ; [Luther 302] for baptism, Gospel and faith alone makes us spiritual and a Christian people.
