Jean Stewart Bridges Not Walls
In Bridges not walls, Stewart (2012) talks about the communication walls that hurts our perception of
people. Stewart goes on to list and describe what they are; deception, betrayal and aggression.
Deception is lying (p.329) and it is a form of betrayal that hurts our trust, respect and communication
while in relationship with others. Betrayal is when you have high expectations of a person and they let
you down, disappointing you concerning the expectation that you have set for them. Aggression is
when you abuse a persons self concept (p.329), emotionally, socially, mentally, physically, and
psychologically (Stewart, 2012). According to Burley Allen (1995), in Listening: The Forgotten Skill,
talks about the effectiveness of communications. The theory that our minds perceive depends on how
well we listen with our heart, mind and soul when we communicate with others (p.169). According to
Burley Allen (1995), our filter system determines how we perceive others when we first meet or see
someone, its call sizing up (p.170). According to Burley Allen (1995), there are two types of resistance
approach but only one helps to avoid many misunderstandings. The I Rational approach help draw and

Gustave Caillebotte s Paris Street; Rainy Day Essay
Gustave Caillebotte s Paris Street; Rainy Day
The first thing that strikes me is the size of the work. About seven feet tall and nine feet wide, this
painting dominates its gallery and overwhelms the viewer. The couple in the foreground of the
painting is nearly life size, and with the man poised to take another step it seems he might climb right
over the frame and walk right into the gallery. The bold perspective thrusts the scene outward, and
with details such as the sharply receding roofline of the main building and the acute tilt of the street,
geometric and visual effects are created which push and pull the viewer and instill the painting with
action.
This work is more complex and detailed then one might first imagine, ... Show more content on

He tilts his umbrella to the right so as to avoid collision with the couple who neither pay him attention
nor show any signs of tilting their umbrella in deference. A green (a color which stands out) gas lamp
separates these three from the rest of the painting, and also divides the canvas in half. A little further
back a lone man is crossing the street, looking down in a manner which suggests inward thinking but
also illustrates the reality of the wet and mucky road on which one must watch their step. The rest of
the figures receive less influence, but a few of them are certainly worth noting. Directly to the left of
the protagonist s head two women walk away from the viewer. Their symmetry is visually enticing.
Also, above the wagon wheel on the left side of the painting a man is crossing the street. He piqued
my attention because of the odd position of his body and feet it looks as if he is almost doing a jig.
Lastly, one might note how the front couple s umbrella pole occludes a woman s head in the
background; she in turn holds an umbrella that obscures the head of a workman with ladder behind
her; a curious compositional detail to say the least.
The surface of the painting is characterized mostly by relatively broad painterly brushstrokes which in
that singularly impressionistic manner allow the stuff of paint to really show. Even though the picture
appears much more finished and

The five events are correlated and occurring over approximate five months from 18th August 2010 to
13th December 2010.
Choice and Collection of Data
In order to study how stock prices react to these events, approximate three years of continuous daily
stock price are chose, beginning at 17th March 2008 and ending more than three months after the final
event at 22nd April 2011. In addition, SHANGHAI Stock Exchange Index (SSE) is adopted as a proxy
of the market portfolio.
The three year SAIC stock price data and its corresponding SSE index are obtained from
finance.yahoo.com, as it provides dividend adjusted closing prices. The two data are ordered in time in
Excel (Sort Ascending). It is found that 46 SAIC daily stock prices are missing due to suspension of
trading, therefore; 46 corresponding SSE daily index are removed in order to match up dates on the
two data series.
Estimation Period and Test Period
Given the event date and stock price data, the EP and TP can be constructed in order to estimate the
normal returns and abnormal returns respectively.
The model parameters are estimated from the EP and therefore the AR can be calculated within the TP

The Cunningic Character Traits Of Odysseus
I think the one heroic character trait that fits Odysseus best is cunning . There are many stories from
The Wanderings that shows just how cunning Odysseus is; from tricking monsters like the cyclops, to
pretending to be a beggar so he could reclaim his kingdom. Some of these stories may not sound like
much but without Odysseus s cunning trait things would have ended up completely different. If
Odysseus didn t have his cunning trait he wouldn t have been able to trick the suitors into thinking he
was a beggar, but because Odysseus is such a cunning hero he is able to have much more power than
others. One great example to show just how cunning Odysseus is, is the story about the cyclops, who
had planned to eat Odysseus and his shipmates. One of the ideas that Odysseus had to get rid of the
cyclops was to have him drink so much wine that he wouldn t be able to focus and so he could be
knocked out. Tricking the cyclops gave Odysseus and his shipmates another chance to get away from
the cyclops. A piece of evidence from the cyclops story that shows Odysseus s cunning trait is a quote
from the story, it says My moment was at hand, and I went forward holding an ivy bowl of my dark
drink, this quote shows Odysseus s idea of giving the cyclops the wine so he would be knocked out
and so Odysseus could have a better chance at killing him and getting away. Another very interesting
story that showed Odysseus s cunning trait is the story of The Cattle of the Sun God. Odysseus

The Conflicts Of Conflict In A Letter From Gaza
Can you imagine yourself reading a story without a conflict? A conflict is an essential part of plot; it is
a struggle or problem that faces the character in a story. Stories seem to plot less, if we take the
conflict out of plot. Every story revolves around the opposition of the antagonist and protagonist.
Therefore, stories are interesting and have meaning. Stories usually have more than one kind of
conflict in it. This conflict can be a struggle between a man and nature, a struggle between man and
another man and a struggle between man and his society. These struggles are external. Conflicts can
also be internal, as the struggle between different ideas and elements within a man. In this essay we
will discuss the different types of conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in it , and it teaches us several things: for one thing, loyalty for your country, land and people is more
important than anything else. It is our duty to protect our country from occupation, stay and fight until
your country becomes independent. For another thing, I most important moral lesson in this story is
the act of bravery the thirteen year old girl did. She could have saved herself and rescued her leg but
her nobility drove her to sacrifice herself in order to protect her little brothers and sisters from the
bombs and flames that destroyed their

Long Term Care Policy Summary
This article states that Hawaii is introducing a policy to reduce the burden on caregivers who are
providing long term and end of life care to family members. This policy introduces a stipend of 70
dollars per day for people caring for an elderly family member. The policy has some limitations. Only
those who work at least 30 hours a week can utilize this stipend. The intent is for caregivers to use this
stipend to supplement wages, hire help, and buy caregiving supplies.
This relates to some of the points brought up in this week s discussion board and long term care. Many
others have mentioned that having to pay for long term care for elderly relatives is emotionally and
financially stressful. This scenario of being the primary caregiver for elderly relatives, rather than
putting them in a nursing facility, also adds the stress of time management and the emotional and
mental stress of walking a relative through the last stages of their life.
Many of those in Hawaii do not want to put their loved ones in long term care facilities for a multitude
of reasons, such as wanting to be close to family, distrust of the quality of government or insurance

When I first read this article, I doubted that family members would be able to provide adequate
medical support to aging adults, without the help of health care workers. However, I can see how
keeping an aging relative in a familiar environment can be conducive to the improvement of their
emotional and mental health. It also seems that it would be less costly for family members to provide
long term care, provided that their elderly relative does not have a serious condition that required
advanced medical care. However, I think the stipend could also remedy this by allowing caregivers
economic means to hire support, such as certified nursing assistants and home health

Computer Literacy Is The Level Of Proficiency And Fluency
1. Explain computer literacy.
Computer literacy is the level of proficiency and fluency someone possesses amid computers.
Nevertheless, computer literacy commonly implies to the capability to manipulate applications rather
than to program. Entities who are vastly computer literate are from time to time identified as power
users (Computer Literacy , n.d.). Computers have affected each of our lives: the manner by how we
work, the manner of how we learn, the manner in which we live, yet even the means we play. It
virtually is unfeasible to progress complete a single day without coming upon a computer, an
apparatus reliant on a computer, information created by a computer, or a word that was established or
whose implication has transformed with the introduction of computers. However, because of the
importance of computers in today s world, it is essential to be computer literate.
2. Explain computer algorithms and its significance.
A computer algorithm is a method or formula for deciphering a problem, based on accomplishing a
sequence of quantified actions. A computer program can be regarded as an intricate algorithm. In
mathematics and computer science, an algorithm ordinarily entails a lesser technique that answers an
intermittent question. Algorithms are commonly managed thru every area of information technology.
A search engine algorithm, selects search strings of keywords and functions as input, explores its
linked database for applicable web pages, and returns findings. An

Questions on Christianity Theology
Although I have been a Christian most of my life and have gone through Christian education my
whole life, there are still some theological topics that I wrestle with. These are things I will I will
probably continue to wrestle with. The topics I have trouble fully understanding are the views of
baptism, the elect, security of salvation, and the roles of women in the church. The first topic I have
wrestled with is adult baptism versus infant baptism. I grew up in the reformed church, so I was
baptized as an infant. When I was in fourth grade my family began attending a Wesleyan church,
where they practice adult baptisms. Baptism involves identification with Christ in His death and
resurrection. It is a public display of one s decision to follow Christ. As a child I did not understand
this. I had not yet made this decision to follow Christ. My parents have told me that I should get re
baptized now that I am an adult. Is it wrong for me to choose not to? Is there a right or wrong way of
baptism? I agree believers should be baptized, but does the form fall outside of orthodoxy? I have had
other people ask me similar things. They ask if they should get re baptized since they were baptized as
an infant. I do not believe being baptized as a child will get one to heaven if he or she dies before
understanding Christ and making the choice to follow Him. I see it as symbolic of one s faith, but not
a detrimental part of salvation. I want to believe I do not have to to get

Meaning Of Metaphysical Poetry
INTRODUCTION The word meta means after and so in simple terms , metaphysical means after
physical . Metaphysics cover a wide range of topics from religious to consciousness. It is all about
exploration and philosophy. Samuel Johnson first coined the term metaphysical poetry in his book
lives of the most eminent English poets. Metaphysical poetry can be divided broadly in two parts.
They are love poems and religious poems. The habit of writing both these type of poetry is derived
from John Donne , who in his first phase of life wrote love poems in during his later life wrote
religious poems. The metaphysical poets are known for their ability to surprise the reader with the
help of conceit, paradoxical images, colloquial language, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example in the poem, The definition of love , the poet makes a series of paradoxical assertions that
pose a riddle. It invites the reader to identify the nature of the love of which its speaks. The early
stanza suggest love for god. The second half is related to love between man and woman.
We can also see allegory in Marvell s poetry. One such example is Bermudas . Bermuda is an
allegorical poem of forty iambic tetrameters rhyming in couplets. The poem is in 3 parts a four line
introduction describing a small boat; a central section of 32 lines consisting of the song sung by the
sailors on the boat , in which the Bermudas are represented as an earthly eden and again a four line
conclusion. Bermuda is an island in the West Indies. They were often referred to as earthly paradise in
the early seventeenth century. Again the image from the small boat to the song plays with two
traditions. A) In Homer s Odyssey , Odysseus is advised that if he wishes to sail past the sirens safely
he must plug his men s ears with the help of wax and have himself tied to the mast so that he is not
seduced by the charm of their choices. B) In Petrarchan lyrics, a man s life is often likened to a ship
sailing through storms until he can reach the harbor the love of his mistress

How Team Dynamics Affect Individual Behavior
Team work is common in almost all workplaces educational settings and can often have many benefits
but also can have some complications that are lesser known. A team can be defined as a body of
people united by a common purpose or joined by a common goal. All groups/teams travel through The
5 Stages of Group Development developed by Bruce Tuckman in 1963. There are many benefits to
team work but individuals working alone can be more effective. Team Dynamics can be greatly
affected by how members interact with one another which is based heavily on the individual
personality of team members. Personality refers to one s individual differences . Variations in

Some personalities can be a challenge to manage when in a team environment. Dominant personalities
can make it difficult for other members to contribute. To manage the team dynamic it is important the
facilitator ensure everyone participates equally. Dominant personalities tend to be confident, direct,
decisive, assertive and impatient. These characteristics can have a place these individuals can make
great leaders but to tend to intimidate create conflict amongst the team which obviously impacts the
dynamic therefor performance (McClain, 2015). Deceptive, aggressive and also passive personalities
along with others are also difficult for varying reasons but can equally affect the dynamics of a team.
Some personality types are more open to others and more incline to regard differing perspectives.
Certain types are averse to taking risks and then there are others others who are excited by risk taking.
Some are provoked by the challenge of an unsolved dilemma, while others are quickly impaired
overwrought and fall into idleness. Certain types make intuitive leaders while others are more
complacent prefer to follower. Other personality types are strong communicators while others find it
very difficult to articulate their thoughts feelings (Hollister 2006). Every personality has the capability

Persuasive Essay On Quit Smoking
A person who determines to quit smoking has only a six percent chance of success. The majority of
people will either return to their smoking habit, pick up another form of tobacco use such as chewing
tobacco, or use something such as a nicotine infused water vapor pen to give into their nicotine
addiction. To completely give up tobacco use is a hard, but very important task to accomplish, I know
this first hand. I was an on/off smoker since I was sixteen years old. I was more of a social smoker, I
could go without a cigarette all day and never even think about it. I just liked the habit of smoking. If I
could go back, I would have never started. I found out I was pregnant in May of 2016, and have not
picked up a cigarette since. My husband John also decided to quit smoking after we found out we
were having a baby. John smoked his last cigarette in September of 2016. John did not abruptly stop
smoking like I did, he used nicotine replacement therapy to overcome his habit. John was a pack a day
smoker, so it was much harder for him to quit than me. There are still days where temptation tries to
make us give in, but we stay strong. We both quit for our health and our baby s health and it was the
best thing we ever did. Quitting smoking, whether by abruptly quitting or by nicotine replacement
therapy, is difficult but important.
Quitting smoking abruptly is also referred to as quitting cold turkey. This form of smoking cessation
involves no tapering off of nicotine, just

Polar Bear Persuasive Speech
Hello, I am Penelope! I am a polar bear. I live in the Arctic Region of Northern Canada. I know what
your thinking, Aren t you freezing in the snow? No. Actually I am not. I enjoy the snow and freezing
temperatures. Because of my clear protective fur, I am actually overheated more than I am freezing.
Another common misconception people make when looking at me is my fur. Although I look white,
my fur is made of clear, hollow tubes filled with air. I have a thick layer of blubber under my skin to
keep me warm. Just in case if you were wondering, I am a warm blooded mammal.

Because we are such large animals, we don t have any predators. Well, actually we have one predator,
humans. For some unknown reason, they hunt us for our soft fur. Because of humans, we are
endangered. Also, another danger is global warming and habitat loss. As the world gets warmer,
glaciers and snow melt. We live on snow and ice. We always have to move our home from place to
place because of the climate. Although it seems as if the world is only getting hotter a small amount at
a time, it makes a big difference. As if losing our home wasn t bad enough, we aren t obtaining as
much food as we used to. Since us polar bears are so large, we obviously eat a lot of food. For
Priscilla and Paul to get big and strong like me and my husband, they have to eat large amounts, too.
We aren t the only group of animals transferring homes, the seals are, too. The seals are moving
because of global warming also. Sadly, some polar bears cannot find food. Sometimes parents leave
their children unattended, and other starving polar bears take advantage of that. They steal the cubs
and eat them. That s why I have to stay at home at all times, to protect my

Case Study Of SARK Logistics

Its evident from the survey that the company s present customers got to know about it from other
exporters/importers or friends. Therefore it is important for SARK Logistics to amplify its marketing
activities and market itself through internet and newspapers/magazines. This would help them increase
its customers base especially when not many new customers have been added in the last 3 years.
 The company should make an effort to increase its customers particularly exporters as the number
of exporters are about half in relation to the number of exporters. Also with the Government proposing
to impose an anti dumping duty on the import of tyres, the company might lose its customers who
import tyres due to the duty affecting their imports. Additionally the company should focus more on
increasing its exporting customers as the Make in India campaign gains momentum in the economy,
there will be a chance of exports rising and thus it ll be easy to find customers who are willing to

Choices made, whether bad or good, follow you forever and affect everyone in their path one way or
another (Spredemann). This quote strongly relates to the issue on hand, if the new formed political
parties had an affect on how Canada is now. Firstly, the social credit party fought for things which are
now available in Canada. Secondly, the Parti Quebecois stood for Quebec s independence, and today,
they have much more political power as a province than they used to. Thirdly, without the CCF,
Canada might have not had the social programs it has today. In brief, without the creation of new

Compare And Contrast A Christmas Carol Book And Book
When people want to watch a movie that is based on a book, they usually read the book first. Well,
why on earth do they do that? Well, see sometimes even though they have the same plot, sometimes
things can be changed. Whether it being for entertainment purposes, or to make the film shorter or
longer, things usually will be changed when creating a movie inspired by a book. People probably
have a few titles come to mind when they think about this, but a good example is A Christmas Carol

Student Athletes Paid
Students who attend college as athletes face the everyday struggles of being a full time athlete and a
full time student. It has been long debated whether or not time restricted athletes should be
compensated for the work they do on the field. Student athletes should be paid for their work as
athletes, but because of NCAA amateurism rules, they are left with a busy training schedule, no athlete
compensation if injury occurs, and no steady income.
Student athletes have highly active training schedules and therefore have no time to get a job and
support themselves with a steady income. While regular students are able to have part time jobs to
help fend for their expenses in school, college players do not get to have this kind of luxury (Green ...

However, scholarships can go away at anytime if the athlete is injured or is not eligible to play the

providing the athlete with money and by paying college players, they will have the money to pay for
treatment, hospitalization, rehabilitation and other expenses when it comes to injuries (Green Garage).
In this case they would be able to see professionals about injuries, and this could further their chance
of an easy recovery, so no scholarship has to be revoked. There are many other downsides to athletes
receiving a scholarship but no side income. Lauren Deutsch is a college student who writes news for
her college news site called The Crimson White. She reminds us in a Should College Athletes be Paid
article that when an athlete loses their scholarship, they are left with no saved money from not being
able to work a job therefore not only has no money but no way to pay for school the following year
(Deutsch). Paying college athletes will give the athlete a chance to have some money just in case
under any circumstance. That way this will provide them for the hard work they did, but also be there
as an emergency or when their scholarship is gone. Ultimately, athletes have no income and stand on
their own if they lose their scholarship, but in reality this is all because of

concentrated on Kirpatrick s Level 3 Behavior. The researcher in this TTT study will obtain data on

participants after they have graduated from the TTT program to provide insight into whether learning
transfer has occurred by measuring the frequency of implementation of the technology tool presented

The title, Special education refers to education for students who may require additional support to
become successful individuals. In the public school system, from elementary to secondary they have a
classroom where all children with learning disabilities are able to interact with a teacher or teacher aid
one on one. The amount of disorders that are helped and treated through the special education system
is broad. It is so broad that they tend to students such as an individual who is not able to pay attention
in an ordinary class, to students who are non ambulatory, visually impaired, and deaf.
The special education class allows students with learning disabilities to get individual attention that is
needed in order for the student to focus and make it to the next step in life. Everything from the
student s setting to needs are planned and monitored. The special education teachers are able to
provide support such as assisting with identified modifications to student s academic and physical
tasks in order to meet their needs and help their differences in the learning cycle. However, not all

Italian Unification Essay
During the 18th century, intellectual changes began to dismantle traditional values and institutions.
Liberal ideas from France and Britain spread rapidly, and from 1789 the French Revolution became
the genesis of liberal Italians . A series of political and military events resulted in a unified kingdom of
Italy in 1861. The settlements reached in 1815 at the Vienna Congress had restored Austrian
domination over the Italian peninsula but had left Italy completely fragmented . The Congress had
divided the territory among a number of European nations and the victors of the Napoleonic Wars. The
Kingdom of Sardinia recovered Piedmont (Piemonte), Nice, and Savoy and acquired Genoa.
There were three major obstacles to unity at the time the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The wars of unification were an important stage in the development of Europe. The modern world was
shaped back then by the revolutionaries of this time period. The strong leaders; Bismarck, Guiseppe
Garibaldi, and Camillo Cavour led their countries to a great thing, unification.
Giuseppe Mazzini, an Italian patriot spearheaded a national revolutionary movement. Mazzini s
ideology of an independent integrated republic spread quickly among large segments of the Italian
people. Revolutionary cells formed throughout the Italian peninsula.
Massive reforms that took place during the 1840s in the Papal States, Lucca, Tuscany, and the
Kingdom of Sardinia were intended to slow the revolutionary movements, instead these reforms (1846
and 1847) only intensified the resolve of the revolutionary cells culminating in the Revolutions of
1848, that spread to Germany, the Austrian Empire, France, and parts of northern Italy.
The first revolution on the Italian peninsula took place in the Kingdom of Sicily, which resulted in a
constitution for the whole kingdom. An insurrection in 1848 caused pope Pius IX to flee Rome and a
republic was proclaimed. King Charles Albert of Sardinia mobilized his army and marched to the
assistance of Lombardy and joined in the war to drive the Austrians from Italian soil.
While it initially looked as if the independence and unity of Italy was a realistic possibility, the
Austrians defeated the Piedmontese and Charles Albert had to abdicate.

Without a Name by Yvonne Vera vs. Advocating a Namable...
Without a Name, a novel written by Yvonne Vera, explores the journey of a young Zimbabwean
woman, Mazvita, during the late 1970 s guerilla war. In 1963, the two political parties in Zimbabwe
were banned, which led to guerilla warfare in 1966. This ultimately led to emigration out of Rhodesia.
In the novel, Mazvita traveled from her hometown of Mubaira, to the city of Harare. In her hometown,
she faced rebel forces, which sexually abused her along with destroyed her village. In the course of
her journey to Kadoma and the city of Harare, Mazvita encountered more political violence and a
revolutionary social change. Generally, Yvonne Vera, the author, has been known for poetically
writing about strong female protagonists who experience traumatic events in their lifetimes. However,
Corwin L. Mhlahlo argues differently in Advocating a Nameable Desire. Mhlahlo believes that it is
not only Mazvita s negative experiences, which interest Vera, but also the female sexual pleasure
Mazvita feels and how it relates to the colonized black gendered subject s claim to a phallic privilege.
Corwin Mhlahlo s argument begins with fully understanding the Africa perspective on female sexual
desire. In these patriarchal societies, like Zimbabwe Rhodesia, female desire and sexual pleasure is
frowned upon, which led women and their needs discouraged, suppressed, and repressed (Mhlahlo
97). This negative view on female sexual desire began with the traditional male chauvinistic views: an

Analysis of Paul s Case by Willa Cather Essay
Analysis of Paul s Case by Willa Cather
Willa Cather s Paul s Case is a story about a young 16 year old man, Paul, who is motherless and
alienated. Paul s lack of maternal care has led to his alienation. He searches for the aesthetics in life
that that he doesn t get from his yellow wallpaper in his house and his detached, overpowering father
figure in his life. Paul doesn t have any interests in school and his only happiness is in working at
Carnegie Hall and dreams of one day living the luxurious life in New York City. Paul surrounds
himself with the aesthetics of music and the rich and wealthy, as a means to escape his true reality. In

The only place Paul is able to escape his reality and unfulfilling life is at Carnegie Hall. Carnegie Hall
is a haven for Paul and gives him the classy atmosphere of the arts that he lacks in his life. He has an
usher job at Carnegie Hall and unlike his house and school, Paul enjoys going there to work. He is
able to escape and be with the rich and attractive people that come to the hall.
It was at the theatre and at Carnegie Hall that Paul really lived; the rest was but a sleep and forgetting.
The moment he inhaled the gassy, painty, dusty odour behind the scenes, he breathed like a prisoner
set free, and felt within him the possibility of doing or saying splendid, brilliant, poetic things. The
moment the cracked orchestra beat out the overture from Martha, or jerked at the serenade from
Rigoletto, all the stupid and ugly things slid from him, and his senses were deliciously, yet delicately
fired. (Cather 6)
Paul enjoys the aesthetics of Carnegie Hall with all the people and atmosphere. While listening to the
music he is able to leave his life behind and go off into another life and place that he dreams of. A
lifelong dream of Paul occurs when he makes the trip to New York City. The trip to New York City
gives Paul the opportunity to live the life he always dreamed of. After being forced to leave his job as
an usher at Carnegie Hall Paul gets a job working at Denny and Carson s office firm. He gets the
money to go to New York City by taking the money

Reproducibility Of Man Essay
Reproducibility of Man
When Walter Benjamin wrote The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction in 1969, I am
sure he didn t expect it to parallel the arguments of today s discussions on the ethics of cloning. In the
short shadow of the replication of Dolly the sheep, and five little piglets from Virginia comes the
discussion on if this practice should really be allowed, and if so, what limits do you set? How can you
look in the eyes of people who have had there family members pass away because the cloning of pigs
for their organs have been outlawed. But what do you say when it comes to the question of just raising
humans, lets say in a human farm , for exact organ and tissue matches. Where do ... Show more

With the right amount of money, this could actually happen. Others worry that interests would be sure
to make clones of great athletes and other idols of pop culture, rock singers, movie stars, and the like,
and, even worse, that temporary, parochial standards of beauty and human excellence might be frozen
into flesh (Ferre 2). Inevitably, racist preferences would surface and those with the power of this
technology would use it to distort human genetic history, reflecting their conscious and unconscious
prejudices. This leads to human population evolving into a society where everything is alike,
somewhat of a cloning holocaust. During long periods of history, the mode of human sense perception
changes with humanity s entire mode of existence (Benjamin 31). If someone decides they no longer
desire that type of person they have selected, how do you go about finding a new candidate to clone if
you have already eliminated every other type of person? Walter Benjamin wrote about original
artwork in this way. His essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction spoke of
original artwork in this area. The original was just not as impressive anymore if you could make a
dozen to a thousand copies of it.
Even the most perfect reproduction of a work is
lacking in one element: it s presence in time and

Research Paper On Jupiter
Did you know that there is a planet in our own solar system that can fit over 1,300 Earths inside of
itself? Well this planet is Jupiter, it s the fifth planet from the sun and the largest by far. There are a lot
of interesting things about this mysterious planet, for example, there is a great big red spot in it s
atmosphere, it s a storm that s been going for over 300 years! It s bigger than earth and mars
combined!
Jupiter is really bright, so bright that you can see it at night without a telescope. So if you ask who
discovered this planet, there really is no answer. NASA says that the ancients discovered it back in
ancient times, it could be true because they only thing they needed would have been there eyes. There
was a chief ancient roman god named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. The rocky core.
So in this case, Jupiter cannot support any life what so ever. But Jupiter s tempeture is pretty rough
too, it usually stays between 163 to 121 degrees Celsius. Pretty cold considering it s only the fifth
planet from the sun.
Jupiter s atmosphere is mostly hydrogen and partly helium, 14% helium and 86% hydrogen. Jupiter
also has 66 known moons and there still may be some that are yet to be discovered. The biggest
moons are Europa, Ganymede, IO, and Callisto. Jupiter s ring system is very hard to see, it s mostly
made of dust. The main ring is only 19 miles thick and about 4000 miles wide. These rings were
discovered in 1979 by a spacecraft known as Voyager 1.
One interesting thing about Jupiter is if it were 80 times greater, it would be a star, because it is pretty
much made up of the same sources as stars. It s mostly hydrogen and helium in a liquid form. Some
people think of Jupiter as a mini solar system because of all of it s orbiting moons. So now you know
more about this massive gas giant, so if you have a telescope, go outside on a calm night and look for
a big bright star, it may be

The characters described in The Help are all very unique in their own ways, and they all play major
roles in the development of the story. Because of the style that the book was written in, the point of
view changes in every chapter, meaning that you can truly see through the eyes of the characters and
learn their personalities and traits very quickly. The main characters of this novel are Minny Jackson,
Aibileen Clark, and Eugenia Phelan, who goes by the nickname of Skeeter. Minny s character was

Minny also helped persuade many other maids to share their life stories and include them in the book.
I believe that this relates to a text to world connection because I think that in real life, people who take
risks for the good of the world are very strong. Another important character is Aibileen, who is Minny
s best friend. Aibileen and Minny are different in many ways. For one thing, Aibileen is much quieter
than Minny. Aibileen is always afraid to say the wrong things in front of the white families she works
for, because she has a fear of getting fired. Aibileen also wishes that black and white people didn t
have to be separate, while Minny doesn t mind the racial segregation. Aibileen works for Elizabeth

How Did Pirenne Contribute To The Decline Of Civilization
Pirenne As a Belgian historian, Henri Pirenne challenged the long held belief that the decline of
civilization occurred because of the Germanic invasions in the Roman Empire. Renaissance and
Reformation thinkers, Enlightenment philosophers, and Modernist historians all pointed to the
Germanic invasions that begin in the fifth century as giving rise to the decline and fall of the Roman
Empire. Instead, Pirenne points to the swift and surprising spread of Islam as the reason behind the
break with traditional antiquity. Islam cut off trade in the Mediterranean, thus making the
Mediterranean Sea and Musulman lake. For the first time in history, the center of life shifted
northward from the Mediterranean. Pierenne states that although there was a flood of Germanic
immigration to the Roman Empire, the invaders were simply absorbed into the Empire. The German
language died away. The Gothic conception of royalty was lost. All Germanic law was crushed and the
organization of the judiciary was entirely Roman. In Spain and Gaul, the Germanic character was
modified by Roman manners and Roman institutions. In the Empire, royal insignia went from
Germanic to Roman. The agricultural system of the Roman Empire continued without addition after
the invasions. Spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, McCormick speculates the reason merchants, and specifically merchants mentioned by name,
disappear from record books during the seventh century is not because there simply were no
merchants, but because the chroniclers would not have deigned to waste their time recording such
information. However, McCormick points out that just because merchants are quiet in the record
books does not mean they did not exist. He counters that what we are left with is communications.
Using the movements of people, coinage, goods, and slaves, McCormick deftly adds another element

Zen Meditation
Things You Should Know About Zen Meditation
We all struggle with stress from work or school. You can not close your eyes to leave them out, but
you can find peace so you can handle them. One technique that can offer this is Zen meditation.
Zen meditation is often referred to as the study of the self. It involves sitting in various positions to
bring mind and body into a peaceful and stable state. This happens when you focus on images and
thoughts that just pop up when your heart rate slows down until you reach a reflective state of
meditation.
One of the best seating positions for this is the Burmese position. There is also the full lotus, half
lotus, knee or seiza position and sits in a chair.
The key here is to keep your back straight so that your deep breathing goes naturally. This allows
more oxygen to purify and energize the body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the right posture you should always wear loose clothing. It is not advisable to practice
this after a heavy meal, as a full stomach usually causes discomfort, which in itself is a distraction.
If you want to learn Zen Meditation, you can read about it or join a group. Once you get the hang of it,
you can even buy accessories to make the experience a fruitful experience, such as joss sticks, a bell,
or even a singing bowl that marks the beginning and end of a session.
Short incense burnsShort incense sticks burn for about 45 minutes while the longer ones are double
the time. You can even use the kitchen timer since no one will be there to ring the bell to say time is
up.
Zen meditation experts recommend that beginners should try for 10 minutes first until you get used to
it before you decide to extend this for 20 or 30 minutes. Should your mind wander off, concentrate a
little harder to focus once again on your breathing so your thoughts will settle down

Archetypes In Fifth Business
Fifth Business by Robertson Davies explores the theme of Psychology through several characters.
Each character has a certain archetype which will affect how they think, showing different
psychological effects. Specifically, the archetypes mentioned are the introverted, the confidant, the
egotist, and the saint. These four archetypes respectively correlate to being the side character, the
secret keeper, the self absorbed brat, or the painfully charitable woman. Davies attempts to explore the
relation between an archetype and the psychology behind it.
One example from which you can find a psychological archetype would be the protagonist, and
narrator, Dunstan Ramsay. Typically, all characters have their own problems, traumas, and emotional
luggage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The various characters demonstrate an understanding of certain psychological quirks attached to their
respective archetype. For example, Dunstan s introversion makes him susceptible to become the Fifth
Business, while his mentality of being the confidant forces him to keep secrets regardless of who is
being told or whom the secret is from. Percy s obsession for power shows the lack of psychological
development to gain emotion, becoming emotionally stunted and naive. Mrs. Dempster s saint
archetype as seen by Dunstan is to an extreme degree, to the point where she seemingly does anything
to help, often coming off as a miracle worker. Such archetypes have their effects on each individual s
thoughts and behaviour, and the reason that Davies is able to represent these archetypes is due to the
fact that these psychological characteristics take part in our everyday life in the people we meet. This
allows the readers to better understand the characters as they are able to connect these characters with
people they know in real life. It is important to recognize that the thoughts build the person, and the
theme of psychology focuses on just that. As a result of this, Davies does an excellent job in
representing each of the characters as their own

  • 2. Jean Stewart Bridges Not Walls In Bridges not walls, Stewart (2012) talks about the communication walls that hurts our perception of people. Stewart goes on to list and describe what they are; deception, betrayal and aggression. Deception is lying (p.329) and it is a form of betrayal that hurts our trust, respect and communication while in relationship with others. Betrayal is when you have high expectations of a person and they let you down, disappointing you concerning the expectation that you have set for them. Aggression is when you abuse a persons self concept (p.329), emotionally, socially, mentally, physically, and psychologically (Stewart, 2012). According to Burley Allen (1995), in Listening: The Forgotten Skill, talks about the effectiveness of communications. The theory that our minds perceive depends on how well we listen with our heart, mind and soul when we communicate with others (p.169). According to Burley Allen (1995), our filter system determines how we perceive others when we first meet or see someone, its call sizing up (p.170). • 3. Gustave Caillebotte s Paris Street; Rainy Day Essay Gustave Caillebotte s Paris Street; Rainy Day The first thing that strikes me is the size of the work. About seven feet tall and nine feet wide, this painting dominates its gallery and overwhelms the viewer. The couple in the foreground of the painting is nearly life size, and with the man poised to take another step it seems he might climb right over the frame and walk right into the gallery. The bold perspective thrusts the scene outward, and with details such as the sharply receding roofline of the main building and the acute tilt of the street, geometric and visual effects are created which push and pull the viewer and instill the painting with action. This work is more complex and detailed then one might first imagine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He tilts his umbrella to the right so as to avoid collision with the couple who neither pay him attention nor show any signs of tilting their umbrella in deference. A green (a color which stands out) gas lamp separates these three from the rest of the painting, and also divides the canvas in half. A little further back a lone man is crossing the street, looking down in a manner which suggests inward thinking but also illustrates the reality of the wet and mucky road on which one must watch their step. The rest of the figures receive less influence, but a few of them are certainly worth noting. Directly to the left of the protagonist s head two women walk away from the viewer. Their symmetry is visually enticing. Also, above the wagon wheel on the left side of the painting a man is crossing the street. He piqued my attention because of the odd position of his body and feet it looks as if he is almost doing a jig. Lastly, one might note how the front couple s umbrella pole occludes a woman s head in the background; she in turn holds an umbrella that obscures the head of a workman with ladder behind her; a curious compositional detail to say the least. The surface of the painting is characterized mostly by relatively broad painterly brushstrokes which in that singularly impressionistic manner allow the stuff of paint to really show. Even though the picture appears much more finished and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, SHANGHAI Stock Exchange Index (SSE) is adopted as a proxy of the market portfolio. The three year SAIC stock price data and its corresponding SSE index are obtained from finance.yahoo.com, as it provides dividend adjusted closing prices. • 5. The Cunningic Character Traits Of Odysseus I think the one heroic character trait that fits Odysseus best is cunning . There are many stories from The Wanderings that shows just how cunning Odysseus is; from tricking monsters like the cyclops, to pretending to be a beggar so he could reclaim his kingdom. Some of these stories may not sound like much but without Odysseus s cunning trait things would have ended up completely different. If Odysseus didn t have his cunning trait he wouldn t have been able to trick the suitors into thinking he was a beggar, but because Odysseus is such a cunning hero he is able to have much more power than others. One great example to show just how cunning Odysseus is, is the story about the cyclops, who had planned to eat Odysseus and his shipmates. One of the ideas that Odysseus had to get rid of the cyclops was to have him drink so much wine that he wouldn t be able to focus and so he could be knocked out. Tricking the cyclops gave Odysseus and his shipmates another chance to get away from the cyclops. A piece of evidence from the cyclops story that shows Odysseus s cunning trait is a quote from the story, it says My moment was at hand, and I went forward holding an ivy bowl of my dark drink, this quote shows Odysseus s idea of giving the cyclops the wine so he would be knocked out and so Odysseus could have a better chance at killing him and getting away. Another very interesting story that showed Odysseus s cunning trait is the story of The Cattle of the Sun God. Odysseus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A conflict is an essential part of plot; it is a struggle or problem that faces the character in a story. Stories seem to plot less, if we take the conflict out of plot. Every story revolves around the opposition of the antagonist and protagonist. Therefore, stories are interesting and have meaning. Stories usually have more than one kind of conflict in it. This conflict can be a struggle between a man and nature, a struggle between man and another man and a struggle between man and his society. These struggles are external. • 7. Long Term Care Policy Summary This article states that Hawaii is introducing a policy to reduce the burden on caregivers who are providing long term and end of life care to family members. This policy introduces a stipend of 70 dollars per day for people caring for an elderly family member. The policy has some limitations. Only those who work at least 30 hours a week can utilize this stipend. The intent is for caregivers to use this stipend to supplement wages, hire help, and buy caregiving supplies. This relates to some of the points brought up in this week s discussion board and long term care. Many others have mentioned that having to pay for long term care for elderly relatives is emotionally and financially stressful. This scenario of being the primary caregiver for elderly relatives, rather than putting them in a nursing facility, also adds the stress of time management and the emotional and mental stress of walking a relative through the last stages of their life. It also seems that it would be less costly for family members to provide long term care, provided that their elderly relative does not have a serious condition that required advanced medical care. However, I think the stipend could also remedy this by allowing caregivers economic means to hire support, such as certified nursing assistants and home health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Computer Literacy Is The Level Of Proficiency And Fluency 1. Explain computer literacy. Computer literacy is the level of proficiency and fluency someone possesses amid computers. Nevertheless, computer literacy commonly implies to the capability to manipulate applications rather than to program. Entities who are vastly computer literate are from time to time identified as power users (Computer Literacy , n.d.). Computers have affected each of our lives: the manner by how we work, the manner of how we learn, the manner in which we live, yet even the means we play. It virtually is unfeasible to progress complete a single day without coming upon a computer, an apparatus reliant on a computer, information created by a computer, or a word that was established or whose implication has transformed with the introduction of computers. However, because of the importance of computers in today s world, it is essential to be computer literate. 2. Explain computer algorithms and its significance. A computer algorithm is a method or formula for deciphering a problem, based on accomplishing a sequence of quantified actions. A computer program can be regarded as an intricate algorithm. • 9. Questions on Christianity Theology Although I have been a Christian most of my life and have gone through Christian education my whole life, there are still some theological topics that I wrestle with. These are things I will I will probably continue to wrestle with. The topics I have trouble fully understanding are the views of baptism, the elect, security of salvation, and the roles of women in the church. The first topic I have wrestled with is adult baptism versus infant baptism. I grew up in the reformed church, so I was baptized as an infant. When I was in fourth grade my family began attending a Wesleyan church, where they practice adult baptisms. Baptism involves identification with Christ in His death and resurrection. It is a public display of one s decision to follow Christ. As a child I did not understand this. I had not yet made this decision to follow Christ. My parents have told me that I should get re baptized now that I am an adult. Is it wrong for me to choose not to? Is there a right or wrong way of baptism? I agree believers should be baptized, but does the form fall outside of orthodoxy? I have had other people ask me similar things. They ask if they should get re baptized since they were baptized as an infant. I do not believe being baptized as a child will get one to heaven if he or she dies before understanding Christ and making the choice to follow Him. I see it as symbolic of one s faith, but not a detrimental part of salvation. I want to believe I do not have to to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Metaphysics cover a wide range of topics from religious to consciousness. It is all about exploration and philosophy. Samuel Johnson first coined the term metaphysical poetry in his book lives of the most eminent English poets. Metaphysical poetry can be divided broadly in two parts. They are love poems and religious poems. The habit of writing both these type of poetry is derived from John Donne , who in his first phase of life wrote love poems in during his later life wrote religious poems. The early stanza suggest love for god. The second half is related to love between man and woman. We can also see allegory in Marvell s poetry. One such example is Bermudas . Bermuda is an allegorical poem of forty iambic tetrameters rhyming in couplets. The poem is in 3 parts a four line introduction describing a small boat; a central section of 32 lines consisting of the song sung by the sailors on the boat , in which the Bermudas are represented as an earthly eden and again a four line conclusion. Bermuda is an island in the West Indies. They were often referred to as earthly paradise in the early seventeenth century. Again the image from the small boat to the song plays with two traditions. A) In Homer s Odyssey , Odysseus is advised that if he wishes to sail past the sirens safely he must plug his men s ears with the help of wax and have himself tied to the mast so that he is not seduced by the charm of their choices. B) In Petrarchan lyrics, a man s life is often likened to a ship sailing through storms until he can reach the harbor the love of his mistress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Quit Smoking A person who determines to quit smoking has only a six percent chance of success. The majority of people will either return to their smoking habit, pick up another form of tobacco use such as chewing tobacco, or use something such as a nicotine infused water vapor pen to give into their nicotine addiction. To completely give up tobacco use is a hard, but very important task to accomplish, I know this first hand. I was an on/off smoker since I was sixteen years old. I was more of a social smoker, I could go without a cigarette all day and never even think about it. I just liked the habit of smoking. If I could go back, I would have never started. I found out I was pregnant in May of 2016, and have not picked up a cigarette since. My husband John also decided to quit smoking after we found out we were having a baby. John smoked his last cigarette in September of 2016. John did not abruptly stop smoking like I did, he used nicotine replacement therapy to overcome his habit. John was a pack a day smoker, so it was much harder for him to quit than me. There are still days where temptation tries to make us give in, but we stay strong. We both quit for our health and our baby s health and it was the best thing we ever did. Quitting smoking, whether by abruptly quitting or by nicotine replacement therapy, is difficult but important. • 22. Without a Name by Yvonne Vera vs. Advocating a Namable... Without a Name, a novel written by Yvonne Vera, explores the journey of a young Zimbabwean woman, Mazvita, during the late 1970 s guerilla war. In 1963, the two political parties in Zimbabwe were banned, which led to guerilla warfare in 1966. This ultimately led to emigration out of Rhodesia. In the novel, Mazvita traveled from her hometown of Mubaira, to the city of Harare. In her hometown, she faced rebel forces, which sexually abused her along with destroyed her village. In the course of her journey to Kadoma and the city of Harare, Mazvita encountered more political violence and a revolutionary social change. Generally, Yvonne Vera, the author, has been known for poetically writing about strong female protagonists who experience traumatic events in their lifetimes. However, Corwin L. Mhlahlo argues differently in Advocating a Nameable Desire. Mhlahlo believes that it is not only Mazvita s negative experiences, which interest Vera, but also the female sexual pleasure Mazvita feels and how it relates to the colonized black gendered subject s claim to a phallic privilege. Corwin Mhlahlo s argument begins with fully understanding the Africa perspective on female sexual desire. In these patriarchal societies, like Zimbabwe Rhodesia, female desire and sexual pleasure is frowned upon, which led women and their needs discouraged, suppressed, and repressed (Mhlahlo 97). How Did Pirenne Contribute To The Decline Of Civilization Pirenne As a Belgian historian, Henri Pirenne challenged the long held belief that the decline of civilization occurred because of the Germanic invasions in the Roman Empire. Renaissance and Reformation thinkers, Enlightenment philosophers, and Modernist historians all pointed to the Germanic invasions that begin in the fifth century as giving rise to the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. Instead, Pirenne points to the swift and surprising spread of Islam as the reason behind the break with traditional antiquity. Islam cut off trade in the Mediterranean, thus making the Mediterranean Sea and Musulman lake. For the first time in history, the center of life shifted northward from the Mediterranean. Pierenne states that although there was a flood of Germanic immigration to the Roman Empire, the invaders were simply absorbed into the Empire. The German language died away. The Gothic conception of royalty was lost. All Germanic law was crushed and the organization of the judiciary was entirely Roman. These four archetypes respectively correlate to being the side character, the secret keeper, the self absorbed brat, or the painfully charitable woman. Percy s obsession for power shows the lack of psychological development to gain emotion, becoming emotionally stunted and naive. Mrs. Dempster s saint archetype as seen by Dunstan is to an extreme degree, to the point where she seemingly does anything to help, often coming off as a miracle worker. Such archetypes have their effects on each individual s thoughts and behaviour, and the reason that Davies is able to represent these archetypes is due to the fact that these psychological characteristics take part in our everyday life in the people we meet. This allows the readers to better understand the characters as they are able to connect these characters with people they know in real life.
