loud Computing buzz has slowed down and by now, people
Care seeing it for what it is, simply compute, put and store in
a different location. Although there are discrete flavors of
Cloud in the market, it is predominantly accepted that the Cloud
aims to proffer more superfluous environments which are simply
scalable. The actuality is that there is an enormous range of offerings
that all were the same name tag of Cloud. Eventually, these kind of
offerings range from boxes in a warehouse to fully managed industry
leading technology in truly prodigious buildings built only to protect
the data.
The budding benefits of working applications as well as data into the
cloud are widely known, but still there is an elephant in the room:
when we move to the cloud, we enter a legal gray area and there
minefield of privacy and legal implications are not fully understood
by anyone. Although, Cloud Computing solves many dilemmas, at
the same time generates other dilemmas as well.
Today, Cloud Computing is the biggest game changer within the
enterprise since the inception of the Internet and PC. The rate at
which technology is changing, coupled with the economic climate, is
propelling organizations to scale back IT outlay, increasing
productivity, and building a lot of amalgamate solutions as opposed
to build everything internally.
Cloud Computing is permitting companies to outsource functions
that are not coring to their businesses. A lot of the technology driving
cloud computing services is open source software. The hype and
novelty surrounding Cloud Computing can be an interruption. So
working with any Cloud-focused company is so rewarding for
marketers.
Moreover, as cloud computing is in vogue, several new inventions
are guiding IT professionals in making strategic decisions in their
everyday tactics as they are moving to this IT architecture. As
organizations are shifting to IT as a Service for better resource use,
this issue of Insights Success Magazine explores how IT companies
use the cloud today and provides a roadmap for the future.

CloudFX’s Raison D’etre
The cornerstones of the CloudFX’s value creation strategy
are 4 inter-related divisions - Enterprise ITaaS Solutions,

development innovation, and solution delivery quality.
Together, these attributes create an unparalleled value chain
for CloudFX’s clients to leverage and scale both today and
in the future.
Adroit behind CloudFX

Crotty, Founder and CEO, a seasoned veteran executive

of setting the global standard of excellence for delivering
upon the promise of technology by simplifying the process
of IT transformation.

P&L, Strategy, Innovation and the overall growth agenda

any use case desired by our partners and their customers
“ “
Cover Story
Damian has a diverse, global background and a proven
track record in leading high-growth, mature and start-up
technology businesses. He has vast experience in managing
large, complex organizations in demanding, result
orientated business environments and over the last 7 years
has built one of the fastest growing Cloud Platform
Solution Companies in the world.
All About CloudFX
Over the past 7 years, CloudFX has dedicated themselves to
defining and delivering transformative change for their
clients via professional services, but since 2013, post Intel
Capital’s investment, they’ve been executing on this change
agenda in a more profound way through the CloudSelect
platform. CloudFX’s ability to deliver transformation
underpinned by measurable and innovative change for their
partners and customers to realize their greatest potential is
exponentially greater than it was when they started and
their commitment to remain focused on a path which aligns
to a philosophy of ensuring their partners prosper in the
Digital Revolution through the use of CloudSelect is
maniacal and unwavering.
Peerless Services Propounded
CloudFX is described largely as a Digital, Cloud and IoT
platform focused company. Their platform, CloudSelect is
the connective tissue that intelligently connects all
capabilities required by their partners to perform, succeed,
disrupt and innovate in a digital based world.
CloudSelect is an open, scalable and integrated approach
for managing the hybrid cloud landscape from a single
point, smartly connecting intelligent infrastructure, data,
applications and business processes.
This platform services is either a multi-tenant cloud service
automation, management and billing platform or an
Enterprise IT as a Service platform, capable of supporting,
integrating, normalizing and optimizing all deployed IT
assets to simply the operational complexity associated with
sourcing, consuming, designing, managing, quantifying and
ultimately, optimizing the set of services which are most
likely to deliver the business outcomes which their clients
are seeking.
CloudSelect provides Platform partners with an OEM
(white label) multi-cloud, multi-vendor management
platform supporting more than 25,000 API’s, Adaptors and
Connectors. It also delivers automated service provisioning
across all digital and cloud services and provides seamless
portability between private and public clouds. Its
Enterprise-grade management capabilities ensure that the
proper security procedures and standards are applied
consistently across all cloud resources, and making sure
that the cloud solutions are fully auditable and finally, it
offers an analytics-based, policy-driven approach that
places the right workloads in the right places-delivering an
optimal price/performance and automatic, pays on-demand
business service scalability.
CloudSelect enables “anything as a service” from core
business services to globally supported, on demand multi-
provider services at unprecedented scale and they believe
these capabilities set them apart as a technology and
business partner not just in Asia but around the world.
Distinctive Feature of CloudFX’s
Strategically, CloudFX believes that they have the pulse of
the market and there are some clear trends developing
which organisation’s wasting money on Hardware and
Perpetual software licenses need to understand or ignore at
their peril. Digital and Cloud enabled services will impact
two broad activity areas of a business or the economy, each
of which CloudFX enable both strategically and tactically
include:
· The increasing digitalization of existing markets and
creation of new digital markets with platforms like
CloudSelect will be the single most profound change in
businesses use of technology over the next 3-5-10 years.
· Businesses’ use of digital technologies and activities to
execute key business functions will be based on Cloud and
Digital services via platforms like CloudSelect and the use
of digital technologies to source and/or use factors of
production “as a service” key to the enablement of change
will be significant.
Understanding this market, intimately allows CloudFX to
develop a set of capabilities around CloudSelect that meet
the requirements of their partners and customers both now
and in the future. These capabilities focus on certain
fundamental principles including Cloud Services
Integration, Automation and Management that are the
foundation of their business capabilities, irrespective of the
source, the vendor or their type.
Finally, CloudFX has deep expertise with API’s both from
an integration, development and provisioning perspective.
API's are fundamental to Digital, Cloud and IoT. They
believe in Open Systems, Open Source, Mobility,
Consuming, Measuring the impact of “as a service”
capability and also they believe in Portability through the
use of containerization enabling the world of many
clouds’s, client choice, flexibility, and real-time innovation.
CloudFX’s Technology Roadmap
In terms of CloudFX’s technology roadmap, it’s about
broadening support for emerging technologies and
Cover Story
simplifying the integration, automation and management of
these, independently or together. The four categories they
will remain heavily invested in are Digital, Cloud, IoT and
going forward AI. CloudFX is shaping the market vs.
responding to new technologies and rationalizing how they
impact them. Every year CloudFX spend millions of dollars
on R&D, somewhere between 30% - 50% of Revenue's to
be exact, so they lead and rarely follow others.
CloudFX’s Team Strength
CloudFX team is their company. They’ve hired great people
and also bad people but eventually one learns what works
and Damian couldn’t be prouder of the talent he had
assembled across the company today. He is very fortunate
to work with people who care about the company and their
customers as much as he does. As his team inspires him to
work harder, think more strategically, lead them proactively
and invest in their development, so they become better
students of this industry and are better placed to grow
within their company and contribute more significantly to
their customers and partners.
Crossing the Hurdles
In terms of challenges, talent and timing are critical.
Picking the right people, investing in the right markets,
learning on the fly and failing fast are all keys to staying
relevant and moving forward. CloudFX has hired wonderful
leaders and imposters, they’ve invested in markets which
looked attractive but delivered little in return because one
need to become comfortable with failing and at the same
time, remaining committed to creating change and wishing
for a better set of outcomes for their clients.
Building Right Strategy
In terms of CloudFX’s strategy, they’ve been on this
broader transformation agenda since 2009 and with regards
to platform technology, since 2013. The critical components
that are seemingly simple but at times difficult to
harmonize, these include innovation, investment, I.P
creation, thought leadership, the right human capital and the
right customers who test them and make them better at what
they do.
As CloudFX has hired wonderful leaders, they have even
invested in the largest homogeneous markets and in return,
they have created a global client base. CloudFX has proven
them in an industry where there is a lot of immaturity and
noise but not a lot of practical solutions to enable customers
in the Digital and Cloud era. With these fundamentals in
place, all that’s now required is remaining committed to
creating change, working towards a better set of outcomes
for their clients and staying maniacal about pragmatic
innovation.
Future Perspective
Throughout the history of the IT industry, CloudFX has
seen consistent themes of innovation, evolution and
revolution and particularly when the revolution is upon
them. As it is with the emergence of Digital and Cloud,
specialization always trump’s generalization, at least in the
first quartile of the market’s development, so with that in
mind, CloudFX recognize that large technology vendors
would lack the agility, expertise, specialized capabilities,
execution discipline and perspective on how these trends
will impact the market and more specifically customers
looking for advantage through the use of Virtualization,
Digital and Cloud services. The opportunity to turn
capitalizes on the evolutionary nature and the speed of
technological innovation inspires his team.
In consideration of these dynamics, CloudFX built a
business manically focused on advising, enabling and
maximizing their client’s success through the use of
disruptive technologies via agnostic and vendor neutral
capabilities and that’s what excites leader of the company,
the opportunity to transform their customer’s businesses for
the long term whilst building one of the great company’s in
their industry within this new era of technology.
CloudFX is committed to delivering technology services
capabilities that will bring measurable and innovative change
to its clients by pursuing pathways which create value,
enable nancial growth, support change and
drive business services agility for
businesses and partnerships
with which the company is engaged

Connecting Dark
Data with IoT
-By Adrian Hinrichsen, Marketing & Business Development Director of Datumize
The above infographic is astonishing when you
really delve into the numbers. The last few years
have been quite interesting when it comes to the
IoT space.
I have personally taken a back seat and watched how the
industry has sprouted, from an embryonic platform to an
early catalyst for possibly becoming the next “Skynet” (no
pun intended). For some time now pundits have been
predicting great things for the Internet of Things (IoT),

from smart cities and smart homes to smart energy grids,
driverless cars and autonomous robots. What is in no doubt
are the number of “things” that now have “connected
capability”, and it is rising fast; according to one leading
analyst, 6.4billion connected things will be in use by the
end of this year, an increase of 30% from last year, meaning
5million new things are being connected up to the internet
every single day. The term internet of things (IoT) was
coined round about the turn of the millennium and is
widely held to mean the connection of “things”.
There are a number of factors driving IoT. First,
consumers are demanding greater convenience,
speed of delivery and personalisation of the goods
and services they consume. There are also other
drivers for the IoT explosion we are witnessing.
The costs of infrastructure are on a downward
trajectory. Sensors are becoming smaller,
cheaper and more energy efficient and
battery life is improving. The further
innovation of cloud computing platforms
and the emergence of specialised IoT
services on them mean that the data
collection and analysis necessary for
wide scale deployment are more
accessible.
Here you can see one infographic
from Deloitte in 2014 that shows the
value they analysed for smart homes
and smart cars. Interestingly enough
these percentages have not differed too
much till now.
Is IoT Fact or Future?
IoT is right at the top of the “hype” cycle
and firmly perched to what everyone is
talking about. Mckinsey & Co predict that the
economic impact of the IoT could be between
$3.9tn and $11.1tn per year by 2025. That is a
huge industry considering it was only born 16
years ago.
One of the main question I get asked a lot is
“where do you see IoT making the most
advantage”? Currently the top industries are
|September 2016| 19
CXO Standpoint
domestic/leisure, utilities/energy and transport/automotive.
At Datumize we are seeing traction in all these sectors with
each project very much different to the next. Our everyday
environment is changing, sometimes without us even
noticing, however our lives are being made easier for it.
Although we are moving quickly to an IoT environment, we
are also facing “Barriers to connection”, where businesses
and consumers do not share the same vision of IoT. One
suspicion is the concern for security and how IoT
technology could be hijacked and manipulated by those for
ill intent. Other factors are more technical in nature, and
seem to be around operating systems, pricing and current
offerings. All of these factors will have to be overcome if
we are to achieve the holy grail of “smart Cities” and
connection of things.
In Conclusion
IoT is a concept which is no longer discussed only by
technical scientists, it has very much moved into the
mainstream. Certain industries have embraced IoT more
than others, for example domestic/leisure, utilities and
transport are leading the way. We are all consumers and
citizens, and a great deal of education needs to occur before
the reality of IoT is understood and accepted by us at large.
Data is the key to IoT and organisations seems to want to
get their hands on that “Dark data”, but do not know what
to do with it once they have it, or how to turn it into a value
for their business. It is here that obstacles occur in our
everyday business environment as the resources needed
have currently not been implemented into the infrastructure
and this will not happen until businesses understand the
value that is passing them by on a daily basis within their
organisation.
IoT is potentially the most exciting technical revolution to
have happened in a long time, and if we are able to help
businesses and consumers connect in a smarter way, help
build the resources and infrastructure to support this new
environment, then the way we live and work will change
forever, in a very positive way.

Startups Should
Migrate to the Cloud
Cloud computing provides several competitive
benefits to today’s startups. It provides the
distributive IT computer software and hardware,
that saves the prices of the business’s IT infrastructure. This
feature is especially helpful for startups as they easily adopt
emerging software without making numerous purchases.
Business managers ought not to invest a lot in high-
performance computers because cloud computing permits
access to centralized applications, that don’t need to be
installed locally. Businesses that migrate to the Cloud are
more agile and effective, particularly when they can scale
their IT infrastructure.
For Startups, Cloud is Cheaper
One of the unsophisticated ideas from the initial days of
Cloud computing is that the cloud is cheaper; thus it saves
startups considerable amount of cash. Through the Cloud,
Startups gain access to great computing power at incredibly
low cost and as far as IT infrastructure is concerned, it also
allows them to own something. Startups will do nice things
with less physical server hardware through virtualization.
By 2018, cloud computing market will surpass $200 billion
and behind such anticipations one of the major reason is its
affordability as 80% of cloud adopters believe that it helps
their organization scale back IT prices.
Scalability and Virtualization
Cloud resources may be scaled up or down automatically;
whereas human intervention is often needed to feature
hardware and software in customary environments. The
cloud environments are generally virtualized, whereas old
settings comprise physical as well as virtualized
infrastructure. With scalability and virtualization, you have
to simply provision or de-provision resource for your
convenience. For example, you can effortlessly add a
minimum of 2 servers during a matter of minutes while not
essentially reckoning on emails and phone calls. Cloud
computing supports the unpredictable cycles of expansions
that businesses are going through due to its scalable nature.
Businesses Open Up New Channels
Through esteemed providers of Cloud computing such as
Microsoft, ShowMax and Apple, you’re given the chance of
restructuring your business. You can actually reconstitute it
to a service-centric business from a product-centric
business.
Industry Outlook
|September 2016|22
For example, a business that has completed new channels
through the Cloud services is Netflix. Netflix had to mass
immense capacities of collections within the Cloud once
Netflix started streaming services. By storing the large
volumes of files in the Cloud, Netflix has time to figure out
how the multitudes might systematically access them. Thus,
Netflix has been able to reinvent HR through the Cloud.
Improved Collaboration Within the Cloud
Cloud computing is improving collaboration and increasing
user productivity too. The Cloud permits users to access
services despite their location or device. Additionally, they
are collaborating booms within the Cloud and can also
share information with colleagues. Actually, collaboration is
quite easy as the Cloud requires no effort in maintaining
and managing it.
Reliability & Continuity is Improved
The Cloud service providers have less period of time than
most organizations with internal data centers. Cloud
computing will affordably give redundancy sites,
facilitating business continuity together with disaster
recovery situations. The consequently managed and
virtualized setting of the Cloud infrastructure permits
higher and improved compliance with data management
and privacy rules. In fact, it provides safer remote access to
company data and quicker and reliable recovery of data
systems and backup.
Quality is Improved with the Cloud
Moving towards cloud computing means improved quality
of IT provision as well as manageability. By using cloud
computing, a business will simply be secured into its
internal IT department and can effectively reduce
dependence on internal IT. As a result, the requirement to
give management attention and resources to IT
infrastructure will be reduced. And the competitive
dynamics of the Cloud to get IT infrastructure which is both
efficient and effective will be used by the business. The
capability to provision and setting up resources
automatically means that substantially cloud services have
better manageability.
Moreover, despite all the above-mentioned reasons for
adopting cloud computing; one among the foremost reasons
for migrating to the cloud is that it is exceptionally
powerful. Apart from better analytics, cloud computing
helps business in accessing data and applications from
anywhere, regardless of the device being used. Also, one
must avoid storing confidential business data in mobile and
PCs, since from there that can easily be stolen. Although
cloud computing brings lots of benefits that are too real to
ignore, but that doesn’t mean there are no risks at all.
However, the biggest risk is being surpassed in a
competitive situation by rivals who are quickly adopting the
cloud.
Industry Outlook
|September 2016| 23
The business IT landscape is increasingly getting
disrupted due to the onslaught of cloud, data
science, AI, and IoT adoptions on both consumer
and enterprise side. Hence, the talent community is keen on
securing their career by moving to Cloud and other latest
techs to ensure their employability for a decade or even
more. While most of the IT service providers are still in a
dilemma to push cloud or push legacy or how much on
which cloud, Hanu Software is painlessly attracting top
talents in the industry with its sheer focus on Azure Cloud.
Debuted in 2004 with few fresh graduates to drive some
small-sized projects in the U.S., Hanu Software initiated to
solve the talent scarcity problem to achieve the leading
service provider position for Microsoft Azure ever since
Microsoft announced it around 2007.

Cloudsolutions
The 10 Most Valuable
Cloud Service
Provider Companies
|September 2016| 27
Today, much like electricity, one can easily access
any kind of information through internet whenever
they need. All this became possible just because of
cloud computing. This new cost-effective as well as an
environment friendly methodology for both users as well as
service providers is a win-win solution.
Irrespective of the core competency of one’s business,
Information Technology (IT) is becoming ubiquitous. But,
queries on the acquisition and management of IT systems
still baffle several business owners. This newest
methodology Cloud Computing has made their lives more
comfortable and easier by enabling the user to access IT
solutions remotely whenever required.
Clearance of the Cloud
Being an Internet-based computing solution, Cloud, on
demand denotes a set of shared resources, software and
information provided to computer devices. Over the
network, information tasks are assigned through a
combination of connections, service and software in the
cloud.
This on-demand approach to IT resources can be laid down
for use with infrastructure, applications or platforms. Also,
customers can avail fixed plans, by which there is a flat fee
and their data center is managed by the company or they
can go for a variable plan where on virtual machines they
can access the solutions online and pay per use. Reducing
the energy costs for running and cooling hardware, there is
a need for reduction in hardware components as an
incidental benefit in various companies. Furthermore, as
this process reduces carbon dioxide emissions, it is more
eco-friendly.
Universal Acceptance
Over the next five years, International Data Corporation
(IDC) is expecting global spending on IT cloud services to
grow almost threefold. And the pace with which
expenditure is done on cloud computing will be accelerated,
capturing 25% of the growth than in the earlier years. The
cloud market is estimated to grow up to 1 billion dollars in
India.
Especially, concept of cloud is favorable for the small as
well as medium enterprises as tremendous cost cutting in IT
is enabled through this. Today, it has seen demand from the
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment, from
online media companies, trading companies and
manufacturing companies. This estimates that SaaS
A Peep into the Era of
Cloud Computing
Chalk Talk
|September 2016|28
(software-as-a-service) market to grow by 35% from the
current million dollars. The IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-
Service) market is at 3-4 million dollars currently and is
expected to grow with 50-60% growth rate. Although
different studies give different estimates, but this will be the
upcoming market trend.
Also, it is believed that this concept will spread across
segments. As this shared computing resource is percolating
to healthcare industries, banking, BPO and finance
segments while startups and SMEs are becoming aggressive
about it.
Accruing Benefits
Cloud computing provides various advantages to its users.
Firstly, it helps in conserving energy so it is eco-friendly. It
minimizes the expenditure on IT infrastructure and also it
benefits cost economy and resources. Additionally, pooling
of resources is leading to load balancing, superior
performance and entire use of server capacity.
Accessing solutions remotely indicate that the user can be
found anywhere. These processes of remote access help in
strengthening the security and monitoring systems. Since,
virtual memory systems are running simultaneously,
breakdown does not affect operations as service providers
stack multiple virtual machines. Also, it enables the IT head
to keep focus on strategies that are aligning IT usage to
company requirements.
Way Forward
Over the years, cloud computing has given a paradigm shift
from the way IT has been used till now. Its nascent stages
are still prevailing, but, the service providers are optimistic
based on their own experience. For example, in May 2008,
NetMagic within 8 to 9 months of launching Cloud 1.0
acquired 100 customers. And in next year by September
2009, the company experienced 400% growth by launching
their Cloud 2.0 virtual machine model. According to the
resources, cloud computing contributes 10% of NetMagic’s
revenues to the tune of about 4 to 5 million dollars.
In addition to building its own products, CA Technologies
formerly known as Computer Associates International has
also acquired several companies including NetQoS,
Oblicore and 3Tera to enter into new and adjacent markets,
substantially upgrading existing offerings to its clients. This
segment is not only generating substantial interest amongst
users and service providers but also these are the examples
of IT companies wanting to come on board the cloud
wagon. Alike as this presents each with a viable solution to
their business needs. Indeed, cloud computing promises to
be the next big thing in IT.

Crossing the Hurdles
As founders, Mark, Rick and Steve
wanted to own, run and be part of a
company that focused on business
outcomes for their customers rather
than consultant utilization for them.
They decided that building long term;
trust based partnerships with customers
would be good for their company’s
growth and for their customers
businesses.
They agreed that they would only ever
take on projects that they could deliver
and wouldn’t chase things they
couldn’t do. They decided it was
important to surround themselves with
likeminded, highly skilled people not
just technical experts and finally and
most importantly, they agreed that their
customers should be the focus of
everything they do. They have done
quite well so far and are proud to stand

continue to look backwards
towards the “old” world where they
install, manage and upgrade traditional
on premise solutions for their
customers’ which safeguards their
revenue stream. M-Power’s focus is on
reducing costs and improving outputs
for modern, forward thinking
organizations using Cloud solutions.
The Client Base
M-Power believes building long-term,
trust-based partnerships with their
clients and only ever taking on projects
that they can deliver provides an
unrivalled outcome for their customers.
More specifically, Team M-Power has
worked hard to build their industry and
functional expertise into their pre-built
Xcelerate Application Templates for
the Oracle Analytics Cloud Service. M-
Power’s Xcelerate solutions are easy to
implement, accelerate project delivery
timescales, reduce overall costs and
most importantly reduce project risks.

explosion which has driven the
fantastic growth of their business over
the last 2 years and allowed them to

customers of all sizes.
In the past, M-Power’s customers were
predominantly large complex
organizations but now they are able to
provide the same powerful solutions at
a fraction of the price to small and

also an exciting time for existing
Oracle customers who are working

have an idea about this name as they
are the major trading organization
focusing on how it can be used, and
which possibilities are on the horizon.
By offering a secure and transparent
way for completing financial
transactions and digitally tracking the
assets of ownership, blockchain is
modernizing legacy financial
processes. Before being verified
through cryptography, every recorded
online transaction is tied with the
previous one. This helps in enabling
stocks and bonds trade to be finalized
within minutes as well as eliminating
the need for clearing houses, cutting
costs and also reducing the risk of
fraud. At present, Bitcoin a virtual
currency is one the famous example of
blockchain technology.
Microsoft joins Digital Chamber with
the aim to develop the necessary
regulatory frameworks of blockchain
and distributed ledger technologies that
focus in identifying critical use cases.
Although every business model will
not have the same need for specific
blockchain platforms, yet its flexibility
allows developers and engineers to
scale the solution according to their
needs. On the Azure platform,
Microsoft with their blockchain-as-a-
service business model has ventured
into the world of distributed ledgers.
This doesn’t only provide fast and easy
access to blockchain technology for
developers, but they can also get
benefited from other tools like multi-
factor authentication offered by Azure.
Last year in November, Microsoft
can be widely used. Various software
giants also approve its efforts in
establishing training and self-
regulatory schemes for assisting new
entrants and grow innovation across
the industry.
Marley Gray, Microsoft’s director of

is already the focus of regulatory
interest at both the state and Federal
level in the US, as well as in other
markets around the world.

chose Microsoft’s BaaS as their
favorite platform for experimenting
and developing new offerings that are
related with blockchain. In the last few
months, when the blockchain was
undergone through scrutiny by
politicians, various questions were
raised related to the need of specific
regulatory requirements.
Explaining the situation, Marley Gray
said that Microsoft is thrilled to join
the Chamber of Digital Commerce. We
firmly believe, industry collaborations
are critical to bringing distributed
ledger technology to market. The work
of the Chamber will advance
distributed ledger technology in a
thoughtful, pragmatic way.
However, the difference between
embracing blockchain innovation and
potential and importance of blockchain

efforts of education and advocacy are
proving as critical mission for the
success of this industry's future.

Cavalry is motivated by their core
value of Happiness. It is what drives
their organization and is the “why”
behind the “what”. As part of their
quest to deliver client happiness and
consistent with their commitment to
continuous improvement, Cavalry has
developed industry leading software
that measures client’s happiness on a
per interaction basis. This software and
approach is unique to the industry and
is a key driver for how Cavalry
continues to outpace their competitors
across all key metrics including:
revenue growth, profit, staff
engagement etc. Key benefits of this
system fall into the following
categories:
User Experience: This agile and real-
time feedback is used to continually
assess how well Cavalry is delivering
on its’ promise of client happiness
across all areas of the business.
Understanding the client’ experience
across the entire user base is unique
and help promotes client satisfaction
across all levels.
Optimize Operations: At Cavalry,
client feedback is seen as a
conduit to gold. If their core value
is to deliver happiness then they
must actively and measurably
seek feedback (You can’t improve
what you can’t measure.) All
feedback is assessed and
improvement opportunities
identified so the company can
continue to optimize operations
and further differentiate its client
value proposition. This process
coupled with their commitment to
continuous improvement helps
increase Cavalry’s relevancy to
their clients.
A Motivated Team: At Cavalry,
they operate with the belief that people
don’t want to “work”, rather they want
to be a contribution. People want to
know that the results of their endeavors
mattered to someone and helped create
a better world. When Cavalry assists
their clients, they enable them to
deliver on their brand purpose which
helps propel society forward. Cavalry
acknowledges and incentivizes their
team on their ability to create these
happy interactions. At Cavalry, they

the number of happy experiences they
create rather than the traditional
metrics of each respective department.
They can objectively see that as they
focus on delivering happiness, that the
traditional KPI’s are also delivered.
Meaningful Client Engagement:
Clients rightfully expect that their
technology requirements are delivered
“As a Service” much like a standard
utility such as electricity or water. By
engaging in an agile manner, Cavalry
can address client’s needs as they
happen rather than when they are
raised for discussion in retrospect. By
ensuring the BAU (Business As Usual)
operations are delivered, they have
increased opportunities to engage in
more meaningful discussions around
how technology can help drive their
organization forward. This could be in
areas such as reporting, workflow,

he future has a great promise when it comes to the
Tcloud. No doubt, cloud computing has taken off in
the recent years with business applications and new
innovations. But knowing where will be the cloud
computing by the end of the decade can be little difficult for
those who don’t know what cloud computing is.
So, what is cloud computing and how will it help my
business? Cloud computing is a kind of computer hard
drive with a difference of storing and accessing data over
the internet. When the data is stored on the hard drive, it is
called local storage and computing.
How will cloud computing evolve? And how will it affect
the future? Are the questions organizations aims to find out.
Here are some predictions for the companies that look
cloud computing as a cost-effective in a long-term.
Application Availability On The Cloud Will Be More
It’s estimated that by the end of 2020, more than a quarter
of all applications will be available on the cloud. More than
58 percent of companies spend about 10 percent of their
annual budgets on the cloud, while about 56 percent of
companies think cloud to be a strategic differentiator. As
researchers predicted, there will be about 8.2 billion active
mobile devices by 2020 with more and more applications to
follow. Applications will be made available on the cloud to
build and deploy applications that would lead to better
technology and faster response time.
Migration To Private Clouds With More Education
Companies are starting to know the differences between
public, private, and hybrid cloud computing. Companies
opting to stay with the shared clouds will have the risk of
slower performance and more security threats, which would
result in migration to private clouds in the future.
More Hybrid Cloud Computing
Some industry leaders predict that about 50 percent of
companies will have hybrid clouds by 2017. Hybrid cloud
computing would provide a combination of strengths like
on-premise solutions and management convenience.
Increased Cloud Development
An 85 percent of the new applications are being built with
the cloud in mind, which expects to see more and more
resources going towards cloud development. Companies
can expect an increase in the third party, commercial and
enterprise developers and API exchanges.
End Of Traditional Infrastructure
Due to the evolving features of the cloud, software can be
expected to almost completely stay away from hardware,
since many companies are starting to search many
applications available online by eliminating the need to
keep buying new servers. Companies can expect software
applications to get more complex and larger for scalability.
The emphasis will be mostly on modular software since
applications tend to get larger. The modular software will
require a novel approach to the technology by saying
goodbye to the traditional infrastructure.

Hybrid BI
Solutions Help in Tackling
Data Gravity
As the industry is inclining towards apps and then to
the Cloud with less downtime, BI is also heading
towards Cloud, Data Warehouses and various other
data sources that might still live on-premises for a longer
time. Hence, the need for BI apps to query across both
realms will increase too. Data gravity proposes compelling
industry challenges while BI has initially lived on-premises
only with a small percentage of BI applications living in the
cloud.
Data gravity is an undeniable market force that can be seen
in mid-life crisis of BI industry. Compared to on premises,
more data is generated in Cloud for the mobile and cloud’s
first world of bazillion apps. The center of data gravity is
shifting day by day as more apps are being delivered via
Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud and Mobile.
It’s Impacting on BI
The value of data in Cloud cannot be ignored by BI and
analytics pros. Typically, the gorgeous dashboards created
by them are not at the dead end of a one way street. Many
projects of analytics are very iterative in nature. These
dashboards send action items for adjustment which further
enlightens a decision maker. At various points from various
data sources, business process is monitored by dashboard
which is simultaneously tuned for optimal performance.
Regardless of where they live, for delivering iterative
intelligence effectively, added context and data is flowing
back to forth between the analytical assets, data sources and
apps rapidly.
Nowadays, more and more business apps in Cloud such as
Marketo, Dynamics and Workday are lining. Because of
growing volume of cloud data, copying and moving cloud
data for analytical purposes is getting a bit more
challenging. Today in a variety of use cases, specifically if
data center managers are migrating workloads to Cloud,
copying or moving data from the cloud to on-premises
database servers make no sense. It matters how much value
you get from your data and not the place its lives. That is
why capabilities of hybrid BI is becoming essential for BI
pros.
Hybrid BI Data Source Patterns
Since so many years, Salesforce that has been in the cloud
game and BI pros are struggling in downloading Salesforce
history of each company into a local data warehouse.
Pulling excess amount of data with the default Salesforce
bulk, APIs turned into a nightmare. Initially it seems as if it
would work but surely will run into timeout issues. DBAmp
proved to be the best solution for this issue as it created a
SQL Server linked server connection with richer
capabilities to the Salesforce bulk API. It helped Salesforce
tables look like local SQL Server tables to make easier

query with BI apps. As hybrid BI technologies and Cloud
develops gradually, linked server pattern is seen
intrinsically in few places ranging from data virtualization
to remote distributed queries.
Another potent technology, Elastic queries allow users to
query multiple databases with T-SQL and perform cross-
database queries too for scaling out queries residing in the
cloud to BI apps on-premises. Another hybrid BI Microsoft
technology, Azure Data Factory is wrapped in the Cortana
Analytics Suite that coordinates bigger data movement
activities between cloud-to-cloud data sources. It connects
wide variety of data sources. Next pattern is Power BI Data
Management Gateway which is fairly unique to Microsoft.
It enables centralized registration of on-premises data
sources. Today, most Cloud BI solutions don’t require
Power BI instead they copy data to cloud. Power BI helps
in copying data from the cloud.
Future of Hybrid BI
The upcoming highlighted area of hybrid BI seems to be
iterative and actionable as it includes R, Azure ML, new
Power Apps integration with Power BI and Office.
Embedding of predictive analytics capabilities in cloud
applications will be enabled by Azure, ML and R.
Regardless of deployment location choice, rapid
deployment of intelligent analytics will be enabled by a
catalog of predefined analytics solution templates.
Moreover, with millions of users already using Office 365
in the cloud, still Office is the world’s most popular
productivity tool. Between Office apps and Power BI, there
are many synergies like group collaboration and awesome
data storytelling with Sway. New Power Apps will allow
business users in designing, building and deploying
business process apps from templates. And for making
Power BI an iterative and actionable decision making
solution, no code should be used, technical users should not
create forms instead of applying business logic and add
workflows too.

Remaining on top of
technology trends is a critical
concern for entrepreneurs
and professionals. Skill sets come and
work at a breakneck tempo, and it’s
important to remain in front of the
curve in an effort to predict the next
hot spots of technology to keep
ourselves relevant in our always-
shifting universe.
IoT is about devices that are connected
to the internet to perform the processes
and services that support our basic
needs, economics, health and
environment. Cloud computing acts as
a front end to access IoTs. Cloud
computing has now been a more
popular service that arrives with more
characteristics and advantages. In
reality, cloud computing is based on
users who perform the computer tasks
using services delivered entirely
through the Internet.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower
every person and organization to
achieve more. For businesses today, It
is believed that the Internet of Things
(IoT) represents not only the next
major wave of computing, but also the
next competitive advantage.
Harnessing signals and untapped data
from existing and new devices unlocks
powerful insights.
Explore The Possibilities of
management system in IT is shifting.
The traditional data warehouse was
designed specifically to be a central
repository for all data in a troupe.
Disparate data from transactional
systems, ERP, CRM, and LOB
applications could be cleansed-that is,
extracted, transformed, and loaded
(ETL) -into the warehouse inside an
overall relational schema. The
predictable data structure and quality
optimized processing and reporting.
Nevertheless, preparing queries was
largely IT-supported and based on
schedule batch processing.
The Microsoft data warehouse is built
on symmetric multi-processing (SMP)
technology. With SMP, adding more
capacity involved more powerful
hardware and then fork lifting the prior
data warehouse into it. This was
necessary because as the warehouse
approached capacity, its architecture
experienced performance issues along
with a scale where there was no room
to add incremental processor power or
enable synchronization of the cache
between processors.
Nevertheless, data volume is
expanding tenfold every five years. A
lot of this new information is driven by
devices from the more than 1.2 billion
people who are linked to the Internet
worldwide, with an average of 4.3
Microsoft Cloud Platform
IT today is under more pressure than
ever before to deliver resources faster,
support new business initiatives, and
maintain pace with the challenger. To
handle these demands, commercial
enterprises need a pliant and resilient
infrastructure that is easy to handle and
easy to scale.
With Windows Server, Microsoft
System Center, and Microsoft Azure,
you can transform the datacenter. You
can get advantage of innovation across
the datacenter and the cloud to simplify
your infrastructure and rapid delivery
of services to the business. Enterprise-

Microsoft: 2016 Will Be the Year Of
AI
Microsoft is applying artificial
intelligence to create detailed maps
illustrating population density and the
access to the internet across the world.
This should help Microsoft bring
internet to parts of the globe that are
without access. Microsoft has analyzed
20 countries and 21.6 million square
kilometers amounting to 350TB of
data.
Microsoft is also reported to be
creating deep learning AI which aims
to recover out what matters to
Microsoft users. Microsoft is definitely
not new to the AI game. In 2010, it
introduced facial recognition
technology that could distinguish
people in photos, and in 2013,
Microsoft dedicated a lab to AI
research and also recruited deep
learning experts to set up the AI
headquarters. Microsoft says its design
for AI is to personalize what matters to
each user, populating timelines with
things they genuinely care about rather
than people and places they’d opt not
to look.
Microsoft has determined to leverage
Artificial Intelligence in order to
enable better offline translation for the
Translator app to be changing the way
we communicate with the machines
and also the way machines learn from
our slipway. Cortana has been a fine
piece of example when it comes to
artificial intelligence, making things
more comfortable for us and now
Microsoft has leveraged the technology
to bring about some worthwhile
improvements in the Translator App.
The best piece of the new AI inclusion
is the very fact that it will bring in a

  • 4. loud Computing buzz has slowed down and by now, people Care seeing it for what it is, simply compute, put and store in a different location. Although there are discrete flavors of Cloud in the market, it is predominantly accepted that the Cloud aims to proffer more superfluous environments which are simply scalable. The actuality is that there is an enormous range of offerings that all were the same name tag of Cloud. Eventually, these kind of offerings range from boxes in a warehouse to fully managed industry leading technology in truly prodigious buildings built only to protect the data. The budding benefits of working applications as well as data into the cloud are widely known, but still there is an elephant in the room: when we move to the cloud, we enter a legal gray area and there minefield of privacy and legal implications are not fully understood by anyone. Although, Cloud Computing solves many dilemmas, at the same time generates other dilemmas as well. Today, Cloud Computing is the biggest game changer within the enterprise since the inception of the Internet and PC. The rate at which technology is changing, coupled with the economic climate, is propelling organizations to scale back IT outlay, increasing productivity, and building a lot of amalgamate solutions as opposed to build everything internally. Cloud Computing is permitting companies to outsource functions that are not coring to their businesses. A lot of the technology driving cloud computing services is open source software. The hype and novelty surrounding Cloud Computing can be an interruption. So working with any Cloud-focused company is so rewarding for marketers. Moreover, as cloud computing is in vogue, several new inventions are guiding IT professionals in making strategic decisions in their everyday tactics as they are moving to this IT architecture. As organizations are shifting to IT as a Service for better resource use, this issue of Insights Success Magazine explores how IT companies use the cloud today and provides a roadmap for the future. All About CloudFX Over the past 7 years, CloudFX has dedicated themselves to defining and delivering transformative change for their clients via professional services, but since 2013, post Intel Capital’s investment, they’ve been executing on this change agenda in a more profound way through the CloudSelect platform. Distinctive Feature of CloudFX’s Strategically, CloudFX believes that they have the pulse of the market and there are some clear trends developing which organisation’s wasting money on Hardware and Perpetual software licenses need to understand or ignore at their peril. Digital and Cloud enabled services will impact two broad activity areas of a business or the economy, each of which CloudFX enable both strategically and tactically include: · The increasing digitalization of existing markets and creation of new digital markets with platforms like CloudSelect will be the single most profound change in businesses use of technology over the next 3-5-10 years. · Businesses’ use of digital technologies and activities to execute key business functions will be based on Cloud and Digital services via platforms like CloudSelect and the use of digital technologies to source and/or use factors of production “as a service” key to the enablement of change will be significant. CloudFX’s Technology Roadmap In terms of CloudFX’s technology roadmap, it’s about broadening support for emerging technologies and Cover Story
  • 13. simplifying the integration, automation and management of these, independently or together. The four categories they will remain heavily invested in are Digital, Cloud, IoT and going forward AI. CloudFX is shaping the market vs. responding to new technologies and rationalizing how they impact them. Every year CloudFX spend millions of dollars on R&D, somewhere between 30% - 50% of Revenue's to be exact, so they lead and rarely follow others. CloudFX’s Team Strength CloudFX team is their company. They’ve hired great people and also bad people but eventually one learns what works and Damian couldn’t be prouder of the talent he had assembled across the company today. He is very fortunate to work with people who care about the company and their customers as much as he does. As his team inspires him to work harder, think more strategically, lead them proactively and invest in their development, so they become better students of this industry and are better placed to grow within their company and contribute more significantly to their customers and partners. Crossing the Hurdles In terms of challenges, talent and timing are critical. Picking the right people, investing in the right markets, learning on the fly and failing fast are all keys to staying relevant and moving forward. CloudFX has hired wonderful leaders and imposters, they’ve invested in markets which looked attractive but delivered little in return because one need to become comfortable with failing and at the same time, remaining committed to creating change and wishing for a better set of outcomes for their clients. Building Right Strategy In terms of CloudFX’s strategy, they’ve been on this broader transformation agenda since 2009 and with regards to platform technology, since 2013. The critical components that are seemingly simple but at times difficult to harmonize, these include innovation, investment, I.P creation, thought leadership, the right human capital and the right customers who test them and make them better at what they do. As CloudFX has hired wonderful leaders, they have even invested in the largest homogeneous markets and in return, they have created a global client base. CloudFX has proven them in an industry where there is a lot of immaturity and noise but not a lot of practical solutions to enable customers in the Digital and Cloud era. With these fundamentals in place, all that’s now required is remaining committed to creating change, working towards a better set of outcomes for their clients and staying maniacal about pragmatic innovation. Future Perspective Throughout the history of the IT industry, CloudFX has seen consistent themes of innovation, evolution and revolution and particularly when the revolution is upon them. As it is with the emergence of Digital and Cloud, specialization always trump’s generalization, at least in the first quartile of the market’s development, so with that in mind, CloudFX recognize that large technology vendors would lack the agility, expertise, specialized capabilities, execution discipline and perspective on how these trends will impact the market and more specifically customers looking for advantage through the use of Virtualization, Digital and Cloud services. The opportunity to turn capitalizes on the evolutionary nature and the speed of technological innovation inspires his team. In consideration of these dynamics, CloudFX built a business manically focused on advising, enabling and maximizing their client’s success through the use of disruptive technologies via agnostic and vendor neutral capabilities and that’s what excites leader of the company, the opportunity to transform their customer’s businesses for the long term whilst building one of the great company’s in their industry within this new era of technology. CloudFX is committed to delivering technology services capabilities that will bring measurable and innovative change to its clients by pursuing pathways which create value, enable nancial growth, support change and drive business services agility for businesses and partnerships with which the company is engaged “ “ Cover Story

  • 20. Connecting Dark Data with IoT -By Adrian Hinrichsen, Marketing & Business Development Director of Datumize The above infographic is astonishing when you really delve into the numbers. The last few years have been quite interesting when it comes to the IoT space. I have personally taken a back seat and watched how the industry has sprouted, from an embryonic platform to an early catalyst for possibly becoming the next “Skynet” (no pun intended). For some time now pundits have been predicting great things for the Internet of Things (IoT), |September 2016|18 CXO Standpoint
  • 21. Adrian Hinrichsen Marketing & Business Development Director Datumize from smart cities and smart homes to smart energy grids, driverless cars and autonomous robots. What is in no doubt are the number of “things” that now have “connected capability”, and it is rising fast; according to one leading analyst, 6.4billion connected things will be in use by the end of this year, an increase of 30% from last year, meaning 5million new things are being connected up to the internet every single day. The term internet of things (IoT) was coined round about the turn of the millennium and is widely held to mean the connection of “things”. There are a number of factors driving IoT. First, consumers are demanding greater convenience, speed of delivery and personalisation of the goods and services they consume. There are also other drivers for the IoT explosion we are witnessing. The costs of infrastructure are on a downward trajectory. Sensors are becoming smaller, cheaper and more energy efficient and battery life is improving. The further innovation of cloud computing platforms and the emergence of specialised IoT services on them mean that the data collection and analysis necessary for wide scale deployment are more accessible. Here you can see one infographic from Deloitte in 2014 that shows the value they analysed for smart homes and smart cars. Interestingly enough these percentages have not differed too much till now. Is IoT Fact or Future? IoT is right at the top of the “hype” cycle and firmly perched to what everyone is talking about. Mckinsey & Co predict that the economic impact of the IoT could be between $3.9tn and $11.1tn per year by 2025. That is a huge industry considering it was only born 16 years ago. One of the main question I get asked a lot is “where do you see IoT making the most advantage”? Currently the top industries are |September 2016| 19 CXO Standpoint
  • 22. domestic/leisure, utilities/energy and transport/automotive. At Datumize we are seeing traction in all these sectors with each project very much different to the next. Our everyday environment is changing, sometimes without us even noticing, however our lives are being made easier for it. Although we are moving quickly to an IoT environment, we are also facing “Barriers to connection”, where businesses and consumers do not share the same vision of IoT. One suspicion is the concern for security and how IoT technology could be hijacked and manipulated by those for ill intent. Other factors are more technical in nature, and seem to be around operating systems, pricing and current offerings. All of these factors will have to be overcome if we are to achieve the holy grail of “smart Cities” and connection of things. In Conclusion IoT is a concept which is no longer discussed only by technical scientists, it has very much moved into the mainstream. Certain industries have embraced IoT more than others, for example domestic/leisure, utilities and transport are leading the way. We are all consumers and citizens, and a great deal of education needs to occur before the reality of IoT is understood and accepted by us at large. Data is the key to IoT and organisations seems to want to get their hands on that “Dark data”, but do not know what to do with it once they have it, or how to turn it into a value for their business. It is here that obstacles occur in our everyday business environment as the resources needed have currently not been implemented into the infrastructure and this will not happen until businesses understand the value that is passing them by on a daily basis within their organisation. IoT is potentially the most exciting technical revolution to have happened in a long time, and if we are able to help businesses and consumers connect in a smarter way, help build the resources and infrastructure to support this new environment, then the way we live and work will change forever, in a very positive way. |September 2016|20 CXO Standpoint

  • 24. Startups Should Migrate to the Cloud Cloud computing provides several competitive benefits to today’s startups. It provides the distributive IT computer software and hardware, that saves the prices of the business’s IT infrastructure. This feature is especially helpful for startups as they easily adopt emerging software without making numerous purchases. Business managers ought not to invest a lot in high- performance computers because cloud computing permits access to centralized applications, that don’t need to be installed locally. Businesses that migrate to the Cloud are more agile and effective, particularly when they can scale their IT infrastructure. For Startups, Cloud is Cheaper One of the unsophisticated ideas from the initial days of Cloud computing is that the cloud is cheaper; thus it saves startups considerable amount of cash. Through the Cloud, Startups gain access to great computing power at incredibly low cost and as far as IT infrastructure is concerned, it also allows them to own something. Startups will do nice things with less physical server hardware through virtualization. By 2018, cloud computing market will surpass $200 billion and behind such anticipations one of the major reason is its affordability as 80% of cloud adopters believe that it helps their organization scale back IT prices. Scalability and Virtualization Cloud resources may be scaled up or down automatically; whereas human intervention is often needed to feature hardware and software in customary environments. The cloud environments are generally virtualized, whereas old settings comprise physical as well as virtualized infrastructure. With scalability and virtualization, you have to simply provision or de-provision resource for your convenience. For example, you can effortlessly add a minimum of 2 servers during a matter of minutes while not essentially reckoning on emails and phone calls. Cloud computing supports the unpredictable cycles of expansions that businesses are going through due to its scalable nature. Businesses Open Up New Channels Through esteemed providers of Cloud computing such as Microsoft, ShowMax and Apple, you’re given the chance of restructuring your business. You can actually reconstitute it to a service-centric business from a product-centric business. Industry Outlook |September 2016|22
  • 25. For example, a business that has completed new channels through the Cloud services is Netflix. Netflix had to mass immense capacities of collections within the Cloud once Netflix started streaming services. By storing the large volumes of files in the Cloud, Netflix has time to figure out how the multitudes might systematically access them. Thus, Netflix has been able to reinvent HR through the Cloud. Improved Collaboration Within the Cloud Cloud computing is improving collaboration and increasing user productivity too. The Cloud permits users to access services despite their location or device. Additionally, they are collaborating booms within the Cloud and can also share information with colleagues. Actually, collaboration is quite easy as the Cloud requires no effort in maintaining and managing it. Reliability & Continuity is Improved The Cloud service providers have less period of time than most organizations with internal data centers. Cloud computing will affordably give redundancy sites, facilitating business continuity together with disaster recovery situations. The consequently managed and virtualized setting of the Cloud infrastructure permits higher and improved compliance with data management and privacy rules. In fact, it provides safer remote access to company data and quicker and reliable recovery of data systems and backup. Quality is Improved with the Cloud Moving towards cloud computing means improved quality of IT provision as well as manageability. By using cloud computing, a business will simply be secured into its internal IT department and can effectively reduce dependence on internal IT. As a result, the requirement to give management attention and resources to IT infrastructure will be reduced. And the competitive dynamics of the Cloud to get IT infrastructure which is both efficient and effective will be used by the business. The capability to provision and setting up resources automatically means that substantially cloud services have better manageability. Moreover, despite all the above-mentioned reasons for adopting cloud computing; one among the foremost reasons for migrating to the cloud is that it is exceptionally powerful. Apart from better analytics, cloud computing helps business in accessing data and applications from anywhere, regardless of the device being used. Also, one must avoid storing confidential business data in mobile and PCs, since from there that can easily be stolen. Although cloud computing brings lots of benefits that are too real to ignore, but that doesn’t mean there are no risks at all. However, the biggest risk is being surpassed in a competitive situation by rivals who are quickly adopting the cloud. Industry Outlook |September 2016| 23

  • 30. Today, much like electricity, one can easily access any kind of information through internet whenever they need. All this became possible just because of cloud computing. This new cost-effective as well as an environment friendly methodology for both users as well as service providers is a win-win solution. Irrespective of the core competency of one’s business, Information Technology (IT) is becoming ubiquitous. But, queries on the acquisition and management of IT systems still baffle several business owners. This newest methodology Cloud Computing has made their lives more comfortable and easier by enabling the user to access IT solutions remotely whenever required. Clearance of the Cloud Being an Internet-based computing solution, Cloud, on demand denotes a set of shared resources, software and information provided to computer devices. Over the network, information tasks are assigned through a combination of connections, service and software in the cloud. This on-demand approach to IT resources can be laid down for use with infrastructure, applications or platforms. Also, customers can avail fixed plans, by which there is a flat fee and their data center is managed by the company or they can go for a variable plan where on virtual machines they can access the solutions online and pay per use. Reducing the energy costs for running and cooling hardware, there is a need for reduction in hardware components as an incidental benefit in various companies. Furthermore, as this process reduces carbon dioxide emissions, it is more eco-friendly. Universal Acceptance Over the next five years, International Data Corporation (IDC) is expecting global spending on IT cloud services to grow almost threefold. And the pace with which expenditure is done on cloud computing will be accelerated, capturing 25% of the growth than in the earlier years. The cloud market is estimated to grow up to 1 billion dollars in India. Especially, concept of cloud is favorable for the small as well as medium enterprises as tremendous cost cutting in IT is enabled through this. Today, it has seen demand from the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) segment, from online media companies, trading companies and manufacturing companies. The IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a- Service) market is at 3-4 million dollars currently and is expected to grow with 50-60% growth rate. Although different studies give different estimates, but this will be the upcoming market trend. Also, it is believed that this concept will spread across segments. As this shared computing resource is percolating to healthcare industries, banking, BPO and finance segments while startups and SMEs are becoming aggressive about it. Accruing Benefits Cloud computing provides various advantages to its users. Firstly, it helps in conserving energy so it is eco-friendly. It minimizes the expenditure on IT infrastructure and also it benefits cost economy and resources. Additionally, pooling of resources is leading to load balancing, superior performance and entire use of server capacity. Accessing solutions remotely indicate that the user can be found anywhere. These processes of remote access help in strengthening the security and monitoring systems. Since, virtual memory systems are running simultaneously, breakdown does not affect operations as service providers stack multiple virtual machines. Also, it enables the IT head to keep focus on strategies that are aligning IT usage to company requirements. Way Forward Over the years, cloud computing has given a paradigm shift from the way IT has been used till now. Its nascent stages are still prevailing, but, the service providers are optimistic based on their own experience. For example, in May 2008, NetMagic within 8 to 9 months of launching Cloud 1.0 acquired 100 customers. And in next year by September 2009, the company experienced 400% growth by launching their Cloud 2.0 virtual machine model. According to the resources, cloud computing contributes 10% of NetMagic’s revenues to the tune of about 4 to 5 million dollars. In addition to building its own products, CA Technologies formerly known as Computer Associates International has also acquired several companies including NetQoS, Oblicore and 3Tera to enter into new and adjacent markets, substantially upgrading existing offerings to its clients. This segment is not only generating substantial interest amongst users and service providers but also these are the examples of IT companies wanting to come on board the cloud wagon. Alike as this presents each with a viable solution to their business needs. Indeed, cloud computing promises to be the next big thing in IT. Chalk Talk |September 2016| 29

  • 34. G iving a surprise to the world with a bang on, Microsoft announced that they have become an active member of the Chamber of Digital Commerce which is a trade association that focuses in promoting distributed ledger technology known as blockchain. Enthusiasts of crypto currency will have an idea about this name as they are the major trading organization focusing on how it can be used, and which possibilities are on the horizon. By offering a secure and transparent way for completing financial transactions and digitally tracking the assets of ownership, blockchain is modernizing legacy financial processes. Before being verified through cryptography, every recorded online transaction is tied with the previous one. This helps in enabling stocks and bonds trade to be finalized within minutes as well as eliminating the need for clearing houses, cutting costs and also reducing the risk of fraud. At present, Bitcoin a virtual currency is one the famous example of blockchain technology. Microsoft joins Digital Chamber with the aim to develop the necessary regulatory frameworks of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies that focus in identifying critical use cases. Although every business model will not have the same need for specific blockchain platforms, yet its flexibility allows developers and engineers to scale the solution according to their needs. On the Azure platform, Microsoft with their blockchain-as-a- service business model has ventured into the world of distributed ledgers. This doesn’t only provide fast and easy access to blockchain technology for developers, but they can also get benefited from other tools like multi- factor authentication offered by Azure. Last year in November, Microsoft can be widely used. Various software giants also approve its efforts in establishing training and self- regulatory schemes for assisting new entrants and grow innovation across the industry. Marley Gray, Microsoft’s director of BizDev & Strategy - Cloud and Enterprise stated that Virtual currency is already the focus of regulatory interest at both the state and Federal level in the US, as well as in other markets around the world. Recently, the R3 consortium of over 40 major banks chose Microsoft’s BaaS as their favorite platform for experimenting and developing new offerings that are related with blockchain. In the last few months, when the blockchain was undergone through scrutiny by politicians, various questions were raised related to the need of specific regulatory requirements. Explaining the situation, Marley Gray said that Microsoft is thrilled to join the Chamber of Digital Commerce. We firmly believe, industry collaborations are critical to bringing distributed ledger technology to market. The work of the Chamber will advance distributed ledger technology in a thoughtful, pragmatic way. However, the difference between embracing blockchain innovation and potential and importance of blockchain technology which is transformative in nature and are quickly realizing that efforts of education and advocacy are proving as critical mission for the success of this industry's future. In addition to this, for developing Solidity contracts, “Ether.Camp Ethereum Studio IDE”, a web-based integrated development environment (IDE) for Ethereum developers, on Azure is also available as well. The IDE permits developers to write and compile Solidity smart contracts, play with them in Sandbox, and then send the contracts to the real net. hindering growth in the sector is like walking in a fine line. Recently in Europe, during meeting at the European Parliament, it was declared that no further action will be taken in the blockchain regulatory space. Instead of that the same lenient approach will be taken in the rest of the world for making the involvement of Microsoft more valuable in the Chamber of Digital Commerce. • 38. he future has a great promise when it comes to the Tcloud. No doubt, cloud computing has taken off in the recent years with business applications and new innovations. But knowing where will be the cloud computing by the end of the decade can be little difficult for those who don’t know what cloud computing is. So, what is cloud computing and how will it help my business? Cloud computing is a kind of computer hard drive with a difference of storing and accessing data over the internet. When the data is stored on the hard drive, it is called local storage and computing. How will cloud computing evolve? And how will it affect the future? Are the questions organizations aims to find out. Here are some predictions for the companies that look cloud computing as a cost-effective in a long-term. Application Availability On The Cloud Will Be More It’s estimated that by the end of 2020, more than a quarter of all applications will be available on the cloud. More than 58 percent of companies spend about 10 percent of their annual budgets on the cloud, while about 56 percent of companies think cloud to be a strategic differentiator. As researchers predicted, there will be about 8.2 billion active mobile devices by 2020 with more and more applications to follow. Applications will be made available on the cloud to build and deploy applications that would lead to better technology and faster response time. Migration To Private Clouds With More Education Companies are starting to know the differences between public, private, and hybrid cloud computing. Companies opting to stay with the shared clouds will have the risk of slower performance and more security threats, which would result in migration to private clouds in the future. More Hybrid Cloud Computing Some industry leaders predict that about 50 percent of companies will have hybrid clouds by 2017. Hybrid cloud computing would provide a combination of strengths like on-premise solutions and management convenience. Increased Cloud Development An 85 percent of the new applications are being built with the cloud in mind, which expects to see more and more resources going towards cloud development. Companies can expect an increase in the third party, commercial and enterprise developers and API exchanges. End Of Traditional Infrastructure Due to the evolving features of the cloud, software can be expected to almost completely stay away from hardware, since many companies are starting to search many applications available online by eliminating the need to keep buying new servers. Companies can expect software applications to get more complex and larger for scalability. The emphasis will be mostly on modular software since applications tend to get larger. The modular software will require a novel approach to the technology by saying goodbye to the traditional infrastructure. Cloud Computing In 2020 Futurista |September 2016|36

Enterprise Concern Hybrid BI Solutions Help in Tackling Data Gravity As the industry is inclining towards apps and then to the Cloud with less downtime, BI is also heading towards Cloud, Data Warehouses and various other data sources that might still live on-premises for a longer time. Hence, the need for BI apps to query across both realms will increase too. Data gravity proposes compelling industry challenges while BI has initially lived on-premises only with a small percentage of BI applications living in the cloud. Data gravity is an undeniable market force that can be seen in mid-life crisis of BI industry. Compared to on premises, more data is generated in Cloud for the mobile and cloud’s first world of bazillion apps. The center of data gravity is shifting day by day as more apps are being delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud and Mobile. It’s Impacting on BI The value of data in Cloud cannot be ignored by BI and analytics pros. Typically, the gorgeous dashboards created by them are not at the dead end of a one way street. Many projects of analytics are very iterative in nature. These dashboards send action items for adjustment which further enlightens a decision maker. At various points from various data sources, business process is monitored by dashboard which is simultaneously tuned for optimal performance. Regardless of where they live, for delivering iterative intelligence effectively, added context and data is flowing back to forth between the analytical assets, data sources and apps rapidly. Nowadays, more and more business apps in Cloud such as Marketo, Dynamics and Workday are lining. Because of growing volume of cloud data, copying and moving cloud data for analytical purposes is getting a bit more challenging. Today in a variety of use cases, specifically if data center managers are migrating workloads to Cloud, copying or moving data from the cloud to on-premises database servers make no sense. It matters how much value you get from your data and not the place its lives. That is why capabilities of hybrid BI is becoming essential for BI pros. Hybrid BI Data Source Patterns Since so many years, Salesforce that has been in the cloud game and BI pros are struggling in downloading Salesforce history of each company into a local data warehouse. Pulling excess amount of data with the default Salesforce bulk, APIs turned into a nightmare. Initially it seems as if it would work but surely will run into timeout issues. As hybrid BI technologies and Cloud develops gradually, linked server pattern is seen intrinsically in few places ranging from data virtualization to remote distributed queries. Another potent technology, Elastic queries allow users to query multiple databases with T-SQL and perform cross- database queries too for scaling out queries residing in the cloud to BI apps on-premises. Another hybrid BI Microsoft technology, Azure Data Factory is wrapped in the Cortana Analytics Suite that coordinates bigger data movement activities between cloud-to-cloud data sources. It connects wide variety of data sources. Next pattern is Power BI Data Management Gateway which is fairly unique to Microsoft. It enables centralized registration of on-premises data sources. Today, most Cloud BI solutions don’t require Power BI instead they copy data to cloud. Power BI helps in copying data from the cloud. Future of Hybrid BI The upcoming highlighted area of hybrid BI seems to be iterative and actionable as it includes R, Azure ML, new Power Apps integration with Power BI and Office. Embedding of predictive analytics capabilities in cloud applications will be enabled by Azure, ML and R. Regardless of deployment location choice, rapid deployment of intelligent analytics will be enabled by a catalog of predefined analytics solution templates. Moreover, with millions of users already using Office 365 in the cloud, still Office is the world’s most popular productivity tool. Between Office apps and Power BI, there are many synergies like group collaboration and awesome data storytelling with Sway. New Power Apps will allow business users in designing, building and deploying business process apps from templates. And for making Power BI an iterative and actionable decision making solution, no code should be used, technical users should not create forms instead of applying business logic and add workflows too. The traditional data warehouse was designed specifically to be a central repository for all data in a troupe. Disparate data from transactional systems, ERP, CRM, and LOB applications could be cleansed-that is, extracted, transformed, and loaded (ETL) -into the warehouse inside an overall relational schema. The predictable data structure and quality optimized processing and reporting. Nevertheless, preparing queries was largely IT-supported and based on schedule batch processing. The Microsoft data warehouse is built on symmetric multi-processing (SMP) technology. With SMP, adding more capacity involved more powerful hardware and then fork lifting the prior data warehouse into it. This was necessary because as the warehouse approached capacity, its architecture experienced performance issues along with a scale where there was no room to add incremental processor power or enable synchronization of the cache between processors. Nevertheless, data volume is expanding tenfold every five years. A lot of this new information is driven by devices from the more than 1.2 billion people who are linked to the Internet worldwide, with an average of 4.3 Microsoft Cloud Platform IT today is under more pressure than ever before to deliver resources faster, support new business initiatives, and maintain pace with the challenger.
