This document discusses five skills that can be trained to improve innovation: associating, questioning, observing, experimenting, and networking. Associating involves connecting ideas from different fields. Questioning means asking questions to understand problems in new ways. Observing is carefully watching the world to gain new insights. Experimenting is constantly learning through new experiences. Networking involves meeting people with different perspectives to expand knowledge. The document provides tips for practicing each skill, and asserts that innovators actively seek to change existing approaches through smart risks.

Emerging Trends and Foresight by Maggie GreysonMaggie Greyson
How might we plan for the future if the future is blurry, menacing and unknowable? Using foresight methodology, we can survey the landscape to look for emerging trends. This is one of the fundamentals of futures work. We take a strategic approach to evaluating interesting projects, policies, businesses, products, etc. to identify relevant opportunities or threats. We also consider things that many not at first seem relevant, but that could really throw a wrench into things.
Futurists sometimes build scenarios to help you understand the concept of an uncertain future. These stories can be brought to life with design fiction -- artifacts and experiences that help you to visualize something that doesn't yet exist -- they are prototypes of the future.
Feel the future, don't fear the future.
Harness the power diversity can bring to your team or organisation. Exploring tools and techniques. Slides from public session presentations, including Agile Cambridge 2015.

Fundraising is tough. Unless, as individuals and organisations we develop our creative thinking and innovation skills our fundraising will lag behind.
Innovation isn’t about a genius working in isolation. Good ideas are formed from a series of previously unconnected connections. So how do you increase your chances of making those connections and developing ideas?

Every single organization on the planet, even our own careers, always function on three levels. What we do, How we do it and Why we do it.
When all those pieces are aligned, it gives us a filter through which to make decisions. It provides a foundation for innovation. When all three pieces are in balance, others will say, with absolute clarity and certainty,
“We know who you are,” “We know what you stand for.”
Whether they realize it or not, all great and inspiring leaders and organizations think, act and communicate just like each other…and it’s the complete opposite from everyone else.

A startup begins with a great idea, but all too often, that’s where it ends. Ideas have to be implemented well to get the desired results. Good implementation requires a plan, and a good plan and good operational decisions come from good people. That’s why investors invest in entrepreneurs, rather than ideas.
This Leadership Mashup features sage advice straight from the experiences of an innovative and successful entrepreneur, G.L. Hoffman, CEO at JobDig. Hope you enjoy!
Possessing these traits will help you to be a successful entrepreneur. However, there is one trait that I think is the most important: the desire to be your own boss. I do not want to work for anyone else. I want to call the shots. For me, that’s simply the way it had to be.
“I have a feeling that my ideas will be stolen” … – Well, everybody at some point of time get this feeling and it is absolutely normal. Why “NORMAL” because it is genuine feeling that comes but if you are every now and then fussy about it than there is definitely more thinking to do about it.

If you want to become an entrepreneur, you’re not alone. Star-studded films like The Social Network and Steve Jobs have put startup culture in the limelight. It’s no surprise so many people are considering embarking on the entrepreneurial journey.
See the video of this here: http://youtu.be/spy6NmD6iPI
Startup life and culture is super sexy and all sorts of founders are appearing in their jeans and t-shirts and boyish/girlish grins on the covers of magazines and newspapers across North America. Seems that millions of dollars of money is being thrown left right and center at anyone with a dream and the gumption to pursue it. There has been no better time to quit your day job and pursue this. It costs next to nothing to build stuff on the web, right?
Only it isn't *exactly* like that and we're only hearing a small portion of the stories. Sure, Tara Hunt would encourage everyone with an awesome idea to pursue their dream, but in this presentation, she lays down what being a startup founder is REALLY like. She also plans to share all the tips and tricks she is learning from (continually) making a whole bunch of mistakes...because nobody is talking about this stuff. By the end of her talk, you'll either hand in your notice and go for it or shelve those dreams forever. Bring it!

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
