Unicameral bone cyst is a benign bone lesion of uncertain origin that typically occurs in the calcaneus bone of the foot. It presents as mild pain during sports in teenagers and young adults. MRI imaging shows the cyst has high signal intensity and a well-defined margin. Treatment for asymptomatic cysts is observation, while painful cysts can be treated with minimally invasive techniques like steroid injections or drilling holes in the bone. Larger studies are still needed to determine the most effective treatment approach.
