A group of 6 students is assigned to the project. Their introduction covers topics like the development of textile mills in Bombay, the rise of marginal groups as the population grew, issues around housing and transportation, and social changes affecting gender, family, and leisure. It also discusses the politics and colonial history of Bombay, the nature of work, neighborhoods and housing challenges, land reclamation projects, and the growth of cinema and culture in the city. In conclusions, it notes how Bombay's development was modeled on London and how the poor often lived in shared housing
