DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF HELICAL TUBE IN COIL TYPE HEAT EXCHANGERhemantnehete
Heat exchangers are the important engineering systems with wide variety of applications including power plants, nuclear reactors, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, heat recovery systems, chemical processing and food industries. Helical coil configuration is very effective for heat exchangers and chemical reactors because they can accommodate a large heat transfer area in a small space, with high heat transfer coefficients. This project focus on an increase in the effectiveness of a heat exchanger and analysis of various parameters that affect the effectiveness of a heat exchanger and also deals with the performance analysis of heat exchanger by varying various parameters like number of coils, flow rate and temperature. The results of the helical tube heat exchanger are compared with the straight tube heat exchanger in both parallel and counter flow by varying parameters like temperature, flow rate of cold water and number of turns of helical coil.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. Industrial visit to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL),Ranipet
Date: 17/04/2019
Report by: Pritish Tayal (15BME0595)
On 17th
April we visited Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL),Ranipet as a part of machine
drawing course under the guidance of our faculty Dr. Arivarasu M. It is a boiler auxiliary plant. In
BHEL BAP we were accompanied by Mr. Pardiyan who is working as a deputy engineer there. He
gave us a plant tour and told us about what all things they manufacture. He also explained us about
manufacturing processes and the machines used in the process.
Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP), the 13th manufacturing unit of BHEL was set up at Ranipet in 1980
as a part of the 4000 MW expansion of the High Pressure Boiler Plant, Trichy. BAP at Ranipet was
set up as a spin-off plant for the manufacture of boiler auxiliaries viz. Electrostatic Precipitators
(ESP), Air Pre-Heaters (APH) and Fans. The total capacity of BAP is 57000 tons/year.
Over the years, the following products are also added to BAP's portfolio: Steel Chimneys, Gates and
Dampers, RO based Desalination (for Industrial and Potable application), Flue Gas Conditioning
Systems (FGC), Flue Gas Desulphurization Systems (FGD), Wind Electric Generators (WEG) and
Missile Launchers for Defence. The Company has an extensive outsourcing facility which makes it
possible to grow consistently over the years. The Company nourishes 400 ancillary small-scale units
by off-loading structural fabrication and machining jobs through annual rate contracts
The Company has been a fore runner in creating history with its State-of-the-art Design facilities,
Research and development capabilities, modernized manufacturing facilities with sophisticated
Metrology laboratory and NDT facilities to meet the growing demand for Quality power. One of the
major projects completed by this plant is for ISRO, they manufactured satellite fuel tank which was
made of titanium with a volume capacity of 260Litres and a mere thickness of 0.5mm. It was an
assembly of 3 subparts manufactured using a mould which were later welded together.

3. PRODUCTS OF BHEL BAP
1. AIR PREHEATER
An air preheater (APH) is any device designed to heat air before
another process (for example, combustion in a boiler) with the
primary objective of increasing the thermal efficiency of the process.
They may be used alone or to replace a recuperative heat system or
to replace a steam coil.
2. ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR
The electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are extensively used in the
thermal power plant or steam power plant for removal of fly ash
from the electric utility boiler emissions. ... Because the presence of
large quantities of the carbon in the gas can adversely affect the
efficiency of the electrostatic precipitator
3. GATES & DAMPERS
In chimney vented residential boilers, both steam and hot water, it is
common for manufacturers to include an electrically operated flue
damper between the boiler and chimney. By closing the flue pipe
between heating cycles, less warm room air was pulled up the
chimney through the flue diverter, allowing them to claim a higher
efficiency.
4. FORCED DRAFT (FD) & INDUCED DRAFT (ID) FANS
Forced Draft Fan. An FD fan draws air from the atmosphere and forces it
into the furnace through a preheater. These fans are located at the inlet of
the boiler to push high pressure fresh air into combustion chamber, where
it mixes with the fuel to produce positive pressure.
