India has a large population and ranks low on human development indices while also having significant economic output and natural resources. It is a major global producer of crops, minerals, and manufactured goods. However, it also has high levels of poverty, malnutrition, and lacks access to clean water or sanitation for many citizens. While India has considerable agricultural and industrial capacity, it faces challenges of population pressure, lack of skills and technology, and underdeveloped infrastructure.
