How Did Antoine Lavoisier Contribute To Chemistry
Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier was a French chemist in the chemistry field of science. He was
also known as the leader of the eighteenth century chemical revolution. He was born in Paris on
August 26, 1743. His mother died at the age of five, although he had a close relationship with his
father. Antoine had one sibling, a sister. At the age of eleven, he entered the college known as
Mazarin College. Initially Antoine wanted to be an author. He submitted several essays in
provincial competitions. Soon though, he gave way towards in interest in science. After leaving
Mazarin College, Antoine began law school. He earned his bachelor degree, but later that
following year, he earned his master s too. That same year Antoine was admitted to the Order of...

He first weighed all the carbon dioxide and water that was produced by burning. Between these
experiments, he was able to determine that a substance in air combines with burnable materials, to
cause combustion. Antoine then called this substance, oxygen. This had a great impact because the
conclusion of it all was that Antoine Lavoisier was able to demonstrate that water is able to be
composed of a combination of oxygen and hydrogen. He demonstrated the role of oxygen in
animal and plant respiration. He showed that although matter changes its state in chemical reaction,
the quantity of matter is the same at the end as at the beginning of every chemical reaction, giving
evidence of the law of the conservation of matter. Antoine was making history by now because of
how successful he was. In 1755 Lavoisier was appointed to the Gunpowder Administration. As a
result of his improvements in the manufacture and delivery of gunpowder, France was able to send
large quantities to The American Colonies during the Revolutionary War. Lavoisier was then made
a pensioner in 1778 (salaried member) of the Academy of

Personal Development Skills
From infancy to adulthood, a person s emotional development skills differ on many levels; for
example: a person may have the ability to manage a whole department but lack a few skills
necessary to manage the people who work in that department. I feel as though I can relate to this
issue due to the fact that even though my employees get their jobs done, I sometimes sense that
they do not consider me their manager because I was once their co worker.
Managing people
The way managers and supervisors treat their employees determine the rate of retention and
turnover. They interact daily with people who have individual ... Show more content on

Expect others to succeed. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy when you believe others are loyal,
dedicated and doing a good job.
Help others see how they will benefit from doing a job. This is when they truly become motivated.
Do not avoid talking to a poor performer. It hurts them, the organization and yourself if the situation
is not dealt with.
Do not over control others. It is frustrating for them and time consuming for you.
Focus on results, not on activities or personalities.
Reward people for the results that they produce.
Manage by walking around. See what people are doing and listen to what they have to say. A
manager who sits in the office for their entire shift does not instill a sense of teamwork in their
staff, nor do they hear the daily issues they should address.
Make quality an obsession, especially on smaller items.
Send thank you notes and memos.
Provide workers with open, direct, and immediate feedback on their actual performance as
compared to expected performance and they tend to correct their own deficiencies.
Practice naive listening. Don t talk, just let people explain why they are doing the types of things
that they are doing. You will learn many things. Conclusion People manage people; it is a part of
everyday life especially in the workplace. In the workplace, how you treat your employees will not
only reflect back on you but also helps to establish communication between yourself

Impact Of Duritan Era On India
IMPACT OF VICTORIAN ERA ON INDIA: LITERATURE AND LANGUAGES;
STREAMLINING ENGLISH MEDIUM EDUCATION The British Rule lasted for about 200
years in India (1763 1947). Early on, it started with the East India Company invading and
conquering India and eventually there was a colonial shift of power, from the East India Company
to the Crown, which was under the reign of Queen Victoria. She was an important proponent in
transferring control of India from the East India Company to the British Government in 1858. She
was declared Empress of India in 1876 after this shift of power. This process had many long term
effects, including the increased use of the English language outside of Europe. It is important to
realize from the outset that the Victorian period is quite long. Her reign stretched for about 63
extensive years, longer than any other British monarch. The period saw the rise of a highly
idealized notion of what is English or what constitutes an Englishman . ... Show more content on

They employed the strategy of emotional and intellectual colonization in India to consolidate the
political colonization expecting the malleable Indians to learn, speak and believe English and
become shadows of Englishmen. The cunning colonial government selected the education system
as the instrument for hitting the target. Since 1813, the planned enterprise started and was given a
precise dimension with the formulation of T.B Macaulay s The Minute on Indian Education in
Feb 1835. Macaulay in his Minute completely ridiculed the Indian languages and called them
dialects, labeling them as rude and poor. He stated I have never found one (oriental scholar)

The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the decisive battle of the American Revolutionary War. The French
and American forces laid siege upon the British forces at Yorktown, Virginia and eventually
forced the surrender of nearly one third of the total number of British troops in America. This
battle showed that massive loss of life is not the only factor that will determine the victor, as
there were a relatively low number of casualties taken by both sides. Instead, it was an aggregate
of economic, social, geographical, and weather factors along with a bit of luck when it came to the
timing of the major military movements and tactics all led to the success of the Franco American
forces. Had it not been for these combined factors the Battle of Yorktown and the American
Revolutionary Was may have had a very different outcome.
The battle of Yorktown was fought during September and October of 1781. By definition, the
actual battle is considered a siege. French naval forces cut off any support or hope of escape, and
Franco American forces outnumber the British on the land. Allied forces surrounded Yorktown and
bombarded the town with artillery until the British surrendered. There were many events that took
place prior to this historic siege which set the conditions for what is widely considered the decisive
battle leading to a Franco American victory and America s independence.
The British forces in Virginiawere led by General Cornwallis who was accompanied by forces led

Siddhartha Gautama The Buddha And His Journey, The Epoch...
The story of Siddhartha Gautama is one of renunciation from a life of privilege and wealth to that
of monastic asceticism, driven by an innate desire to reach enlightenment through the banishment of
suffering and spiritual emptiness (Wattananarong). Gautama left behind wealth and nobility in
order to cease his own suffering and upon achieving his own enlightenment, provided a path for
others to follow. Following his enlightenment, Gautama came to be known as the Buddha and his
journey, the epoch of Buddhism.
Unaccepting of some social and cultural practices of the time, the Buddha was openly critical of
the Hindu Brahman s possessiveness and almost secretive knowledge of the Veda texts; sharing
this knowledge only with their son s, assuring their family s position socially and
spiritually(Wattananarong). Accordingly, he proposed the solution to the cessation of one s
suffering should be available to and for everyone, rather than to an exclusive few based on if one
becomes a Brahma or Outcaste by birth, one becomes either by living well or living badly
(Wattananarong). For this reason, he rejected the caste system predicated on the belief that all
people are equal and have a right to choose how to live their lives, thereby making decisions about
their future and potentially reduce or eliminate their own suffering.
Hence, based on Buddha s rejection of predetermined privilege and entitlement of enlightenment for
some, while denying others, it appears implausible

The Importance Of Voting In America
With the presidential election going on today I am baffled at how many of my friends care so
little about it. I was always taught in my family to vote in every election because my vote
mattered. I asked my roommate if she had voted and she answered back with well no I don t
really know who to vote for and my vote wouldn t matter anyways, so I m just not going to do
it... I was baffled at how little she cared and how she didn t want to try to understand more about
the people running in order for her to make an educated decision and vote. If we as citizens of the
US all thought this way and no one cared enough to try to understand what is going on around us in
our government then this could be dangerous. In a study conducted it shows just how... Show more

The fact that we know more about a cartoon than we do about our freedoms is terrifying. I feel as
though our younger generation has taken for granted the wonderful nation we live in that allows
them to post on social media, take selfies, say what they want, and even wear what they want.
They are so self consumed that things like politics are not even a blimp on their radar so why try
to learn more about it. I myself was not too sure on who I would be voting for a couple days before
the election, so I took the time educated myself on all the candidates and then was surer about my
vote. If we as a younger generation do not take the time to study an understand all of these
political matters then worse could come to worse and we could lose our freedom just by
allowing others who may not have the countries best interest make all the decisions for us.
Education is the key to success and without educating ourselves on what is going on in the world
we live in we are allowing others to take control of freedom. In conclusion some of our generation
is becoming self consumed with social media, technology, and being too lazy to care about what is
going on the political world around us and this is what is keeping us from being

How Culture Affects Financial Reporting And Auditing With...
Abstract In today s society, the international trading constitutes an increasingly significant portion
of the world economy than ever before. Having opened more subsidiaries in different countries and
invested in foreign markets, companies and investors are more exposed to problems reading
accounting records and auditing reports composed under different accounting principles. To better
understand the reason behind the accounting diversity, we need to dig into countries different
cultural background which imposes great influence on formation of accounting and auditing
principles and ways people practice. This paper will analyze how culture affects financial reporting
and auditing with the support of classic culture theories and facts. Introduction International
accounting, a term given birth by modern society, is a concept which encompasses all function
areas of various accounting principles and practices followed by every nation in the world. The
international accounting consists of three different levels. First level is the supranational level
which signifies principles, standards and guidelines of accounting, auditing and taxation issued by
supranational organizations such as UN, OECD and IFA (International accounting, Timothy and
Hector, 2011, P1). The second level is the company level which denotes the principles and
techniques that people follow to report transactions and evaluate foreign companies performance.
The third level, the broadest one, can be viewed as the

The Importance Of Antidepressants
This is an accurate representation of medication for depression. It does not make you want to
live, it does not fix your thinking, it just makes you functional. It allows you to do things you
wouldn t usually be able to, and maybe after a while you will be able to function on your own. I
am a strong believer in the idea that you should avoid taking unecessary medication. Lots of
people I know have said that me saying that is hypocritical because I take antidepressants, but I
disagree. While it is not completely necessary for me to take antidepressants to overcome my
depression and anxiety, they make a big impact on my life. Antidepressants have allowed me to be
a functional human being and because of this, I have been able to redevelop daily

John Ray Cash Essay
Johnny Cash was born February 26, 1932. His parents called him J.R. because they couldn t

moved the family several times while Johnny Cash was a child. This made for a lot of instability
in his younger years. His father farmed and when the farms were not doing so well in the
beginning of the 30 s his father packed his family up and moved them to Dyess County in
northeastern Arkansas. There was government assistance there to be had. The government
provided Johnny s family with a house, barn and some farm land. This was so that their family

was abusing drugs. It was like he always tried to mask the pain but it never worked. He went into
the military and went to the Korean War as a Morris code decoder. He couldn t really make a
living doing anything else where he was from due to the economy so he enlisted. While he was
in the military he picked up playing the guitar very well and making music. At first he was

Benefits Of Having A Pet
Many children want pets. For example, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, etc. A pet for children is not only
fun and enjoyable, but 90% of the children between the ages of 3 and 13 indicated benefits to
having a pet. The main arguments that children give when they want a pet are simple things like,
they find it instructive, joyful, and therapeutic to receive unconditional love from their pet. Children
often experience their animal as someone they trust as a friend, but these are not the only
advantages. Various studies have shown that having a pet is good for children s development. In
this paper, I will give six reasons why having a pet is good for children.
1) Emotional support
In children s lives emotions such as anger, fear, and joy are shared with animals. Children can
tell secrets, and feel at ease with their pets, since the pets can t judge or talk to them. The children
experience much support. An animal may also help the child to feel safe when he or she is in an
unfamiliar situation. It also gives a child a sense of security at home, because a dog watches and
will bark an alarm if there is a dangerous situation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another study also showed that the self image of the child when he/she becomes an adult which
will develop later, has to do with the age at which he/she first comes into contact with a pet.
Therefore, children at the ages of six or during their puberty, having contact with a pet during
these ages will have a positive self image than those who received their first pet between the ages of
six to ten. Kids can even help at an early age with the care of animals. Accomplish tasks for the
care of animals also gives

Summary Of Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
Oryx and Crake is a unique novel written by Margaret Atwood. It explores the United States,
before and after the entire human race is wiped out by a viral infection, through the eyes of a
man named Snowman who, before the outbreak, is known as Jimmy. While in high school,
Jimmy meets another boy named Glenn and the two became friends. They bond over weird
hobbies including watching an array of things ranging from open heart surgeries to pornography
and online games. One day Glenn and Jimmy need codenames for a game they are playing
together. Glenn picks Crake for himself and it stuck as his nickname for the rest of his life.
After high school, the two boys went their separate ways. Crake ends up creating a pill called
BlyssPluss, which leads to the death of mankind, and his own human like species that were
named Crakers. Crake ends up dying and leaves the mess he created in Jimmy s hands. This
includes the Crakers. In this paper I argue that Jimmy truly cares about the Crakers like a parent
because of his miserable upbringing by his. Jimmy s mom left him and his dad behind one day.
Not only did she trash Jimmy s father s computer, but she took Killer, Jimmy s pet rakunk and
only companion, with her too. Atwood describes Jimmy s response, Jimmy had mourned for
weeks. No, for months. (Atwood, 61). Jimmy probably viewed his mother as the one person that
would always be there no matter what and is not supposed to hurt him, so when she did the
opposite of those two things,

Biblical Allusion During The Romantic Age
Biblical allusion during the Romantic Age was not uncommon. Because Biblical images and
references were in the minds of most Romantic readers, a poet would often use this strategy to
contextualize an assertion being made. Wordsworth is no different. However, the level to which he
uses this technique within his poetry fluctuates. The Ruined Cottage only contains two obvious
examples, while Michaelis rich with Biblical imagery and allusion. Because of this difference, the
Biblical allusion within the two poems will be discussed within three categories those which are
concerned with a connection to nature, those which inspire the hope of salvation, and those which
deal with the creation and deterioration of covenants. Delving first into... Show more content on

She is presented as greedy and neglectful of the inherent spirituality in things, and possibly had
false intentions behind sending Luke away. It seems this is a warning from Wordsworth. It is also
valuable to note that Michael s troubles begin when his nephew defaults on a loan. However, the
poem never labels him as nephew but instead, his brother s son (211). If Michael s name is meant
to conjure the name of the archangel Michael, it can t be ignored that one of the brothers of that
archangel is Satan. Viewing the name this way creates a parallel which makes Michael s nephew
a quasi son of evil. Because of the nephew s industrious life (212), he is disconnected from the
land and therefore amoral. With these instances of naming, Wordsworth seems to be commenting
on how morality is connected to living life by means of nature rather than by means of material or
industry. Turning now to allusions that inspire hope, we look towards Robert s Sunday clothes in
The Ruined Cottage. Still in its place. His Sunday garments hung / Upon the self same nail, his
very staff / Stood undisturbed behind the door (432 34). The garments that are hung up, are not just
regular clothes, but his Sunday garments. This small detail gives the image it s religious tone.
Continuing, the word staff certainly alludes to the staff of Moses in the bible, who is known for

Anecdotes provide emphasis and familiarity through a consistent narrative; Michelle Obama
utilizes examples of her background to create a link between orator and audience. Obama s
humble background presents the picture of a blue collared father struggling to make ends meet
while providing for his children. As the prominent fixture in her childhood, her father is the rock
(Obama, line 54) that grounded her in society. The proletariat audience naturally sympathizes,
but Mrs. Obama s rhetorical fusilade now turns its attention to her husband s past. The candidate
himself is indirectly the subject of several anecdotes; Paragraph sixteen details Barack Obama

Analysis Of End Times
Still life paintings are a way of elevating ordinary everyday objects to a place of prominence that
tell a story of the society and culture of that time; showing that everything around us, no matter
how ordinary, can be seen as beautiful. Painted with watercolors in the year 1985, End Times is a
still life painting by artist Michael Beck. In true trompe l oeil fashion, the painting needs to be
examined up close to be able to tell that it is not a photograph. The objects placed together in this
piece are not necessarily objects that one would consider for a work of art. They are items that one
would find in most households, but the artist placed them together in a composition, deeming them
worthy enough for such artistic expression. In End Times, unlike traditional still lifepaintings, the
artist has placed the items on a wooden floor instead of a table top. The composition is balanced
with vases on one side, boxes and a plant on the other and a tall wood and rattan stool in the
middle with a few items on the top of the stool. There are four vases of varying heights and
widths placed on the foreground on the right of the composition. The largest vase which frames
the right of the picture is yellow and white has the look of a ceramic milk jug that has some dried
reeds coming out of the top. Next to this vase we see a small brown ceramic vase with more of a
geometric tribal design on it, placed directly behind this vase is a tall and slender caramel colored
vase. The fourth

Urban Ethnographic Research
Thesis: The study of urban politics using traditional definitions of urban, especially sociological
research inadequately defines or captures the daily activities of localities. There is a missing link
between community power and local economy in the literature. To bridge the gap Molotoch
demonstrates that the underlying interest of local politics is growth. Local power centers around
landed elite who promote and compete against other localities for resources in order to turn a
locality into a growth machine. Growth is measured by the increase in population.
Argument: Cities are controlled by a coalition of elite land based interests whose aim is to increase
the profit potential of their land and wealth. Well to due individuals have... Show more content on

Growth costs more money in taxes and costs more for government services. Growth puts more stain
on the majority of the population in health and quality of life, such as increase pollution, traffic, and
strain on public works, while distributing the benefits to a small segment of the community. Jobs
are not created by growth, but are simply redistributed from and among other localities.
Additionally, the fastest growing metropolitan areas have the most unemployment. This happens
since labor is extracted from a national labor pool, and growing localities attract the unemployed
who are seeking work from other localities. For labor, It is more beneficial for workers to be part of
a national movement to promote full employment, rather than support the local growth machine.
Some areas that are not overpopulated have clean environments, sustainable infrastructure, and
aesthetic landscapes Yet, successful competition by urban localities only help to promote
depopulation, ghost towns, and depletion or extraction of resources in and from localities. Molotch
highlights that depopulation of an area, thus declining growth, is due to political decisions in other
localities to promote

The next test that was conducted in this lab was the Anion/Cation Test. Within the Cation/Anion
test the first experiment was done with the Ammonia Trial. Within this trial,1ml of 6M NaOH was
needed along with 0.03g of the unknown compound, and 1ml of distilled H2O. The Ammonia
Trial will have a chemical compound of NH4(X) + NaOH = NH3 + Na(X) + H2O, where X is
the unknown anion. The first step of this trial was to mix the measured unknown with the H2O.
Once the compound has dissolved, add the NaOH to the solution. By wafting over the solution
determining if an ammonia smell is present, if so the unknown compound will contain
ammonium. The trial was repeated three times and observations were recorded. The next Cation
/Anion experiment that was conducted was the Halide Trial. This trial was conducted by taking
0.03g of unknown compound and creating a solution with 1ml of distilled H2O. Then, 1ml of 6M
HNO3, and 1ml of 0.1M AgNO3 was added to the solution, and observations were made towards if
a white precipitate was formed.

The Golden Age In The Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan era was a time full of superstition and persecution, however it was also the
beginning of a new age, The Golden Age as it is commonly referred to. During this time the
people of England were beginning to progress, in a scientific and artistic way. Music wasn t the
only thing that was developing, science and philosophy were also flourishing.
There was a reason that music began to become an everyday part of life under Queen Elizabeth s
rule. The queen herself even had a musical background and it was well known that music was
her favorite art form. She also took a great interest in supporting experienced musicians and
composers. From Elizabeth s interest in the arts, her people went from generational family songs
to reformed masterpieces from great men, such as William Byrd, Thomas Morley, and Thomas
Weelkes. The society and culture that Queen Elizabeth helped create differentiates from many
cultures we have learned about in class. In other cultures, such as China, someone who has
career in the arts is typically seen as a lower social class citizen, whereas in England the making
of an educated and upper class man must be fluent in musical theory. We can tell by an excerpt
from The Compleat Gentleman written by Henry Peacham in 1622, that the basic role of a
gentleman was to sing your part sure, and at first sight, withall, to play the same upon your viol, or
exercise of the lute.
During this time there was a wide variety of instruments used and some are

Buddhism Artwork Along Silk Road Essay
Trade routes have always been more than just the means of transporting goods and services to
neighboring regions. These routes serve as a way to spread culture, art, religion, and many other
things amongst countries. One of the most outstanding trade routes in the past was the Silk Road
found in China. It was a route used by many people to travel and transport goods such as silk,
paper, livestock, jewels, and much more, from East to West China. It consisted of land and sea
routes, which made transportation and traveling convenient for man in that time period. There were
many items traded along the Silk Road that had a profound impact on the development of the

Much of these artworks were created during the Tang Dynasty, in the seventh century when trading

valuable insight into the art. It was reflection of the cultural changed and the political power of the
Tang empire and the importance of Buddhism in Chinese culture. Buddhism began to spread along
the Silk Road and as it traveled it was accepted by those who lived in neighboring communities.
Monks who practiced Buddhism found many of these caves, and would paid artists to create murals
and paintings of the Buddhas teachings. Many of these caves had colorful wall painting and
Buddha images, which often were sponsored by travelers who sought protection for their journey
ahead or gave thanks for having their life. There were numerous murals that portrayed the preaching
scenes of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that were reminders to believers of the religion to obtain their
ultimate goal of rebirth. By the late seventh century and early eighth century, Buddhism had
reached its highest point in China. With Buddhism reaching its peak, entire walls of the caves were
devoted to historical and legendary events, which allowed pilgrims to learn and practice the
religion. Throughout the Tang Dynasty artists traveled to The Caves of the Thousand Buddhas to
paint teachings of Buddhism, which included many portraits of

A Literary Analysis Of Bartleby By Herman Melville
1 Bartleby Herman Melville Bartleby was a story that had me inerested me from the first
paragraph. I love learning about and seeing characters develop, for this reason Breaking Bad is
one of my favorite TV shows. The lawyer in this story makes Bartleby out to be this magnificent
and interesting creature beyond compare, which I think shows more about the lawyer as character
than Bartleby. The lawyer saw depth, intrigue, and unsolved despairs in Bartleby before the reader
had a chance. This aspect of the Lawyer intrigued me deeply, how he could analyze and understand
people from only a single sentence. Bartleby was an interesting character, but I enjoyed reading
about the other characters in the office much more. I found Turkey, Nippers, and Ginger Nut
fascinating. These three characters all found their way working for a very organized and... Show

There were very few characters, a cliche conflict, and not a very fulfilling resolution, but I still
did not dislike it. The narrator is a character who is very average, except for the fact that he has
been banished by his parents to live with his grandparents. Many kids have conflict with their
parents but to be banished seemed like a harsh thing, so during the story I kept asking myself if
that would become relevant. I do not think that it did. The narrator is almost forced by his
grandparents to meet a kid who lives next door named Fred. Fred is also a pretty normal person,
except for the fact that his legs are injured from when his dad threw him down the stairs. These
two characters talk awkwardly before the story ends with them hovering in the air next to Fred s
roof (at least from what I could tell). I took this as a metaphor for trying new things. The narrator
was sent to his grandparents house expecting to have the worst time of his life, but when he went
and talked to the stranger next stairs, he experiences something he would have never experiences

The Consecution Of Christians In The Redemption Of Peter
The persecution of the Church affected a lot in the family life of Christians. Emperor Nero did the

unbelievable torture containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being

Muhammad Ali, born as Cassius Marcellus Clay, is a hero for many people. Cassius lived in a

A short term compensatory response for respiratory acidosis might include an immediate slight
increase in bicarbonate levels. Another example of compensation would be hyperventilation as a
response to metabolic acidosis. The compensatory response for respiratory alkalosis is a fall in
the bicarbonate level in chronic respiratory alkalosis this is achieved through renal excretion over
time, while in an acute state, lower levels of CO2 produce a slight decrease of HCO3 . The
compensatory response for metabolic alkalosis is hypoventilation. If all three values are abnormal,
the patient is in a partially compensated state because the buffer is actively working to push the
equation to equilibrium to obtain a normal pH value. If the pH is normal and the CO2 and HCO3

Standardized Testing Has Impacted Public Schools
Students are overwhelmed with school, work, extra curricular activities, family, etc. Perhaps
standardized tests are a major contributor to students stress. A standardized test is any test scored in
a consistent manner and requires test takers to answer identical questions. Among the most
common include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT
) and the American College Test (ACT).
According to the article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from
Opposing Viewpoints in Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I
when the American Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate
inefficient recruits (Solley 3). Today, standardized tests are necessary for college admission. Just
last month, in March of 2016, College Board, the non profit organization responsible for
administering the SAT, altered the format of the test. It is now formatted more similar to the ACT
and includes an optional essay reducing the score from 2400 to 1600. Many advocates argue
standardized tests accurately measure academic intelligence and hold teachers and schools
accountable. In today s society, standardized tests have become the norm, and unfortunately, people
overlook their negative effects despite research substantiating arguments about their disadvantages.
Standardized tests are disadvantageous because they hinder education and contain bias.
First, standardized tests negatively affect education. For example,

Pros And Cons Of Robots
Robots are becoming more and more advanced. As employers implement more automation, it is
likely that many will lose their jobs to a robot. Robots have already been employed in many
industries successfully especially in manufacturing. This automation improves the productivity
in manufacturing and in effect, reduces the costs to make products. Manufacturing jobs now
populated by people have many Musculoskeletal disease risk factors. With the application of
robots, workers will not have to put themselves at risk for personal injury caused by MSD s.
Research shows that repetitive work can cause musculoskeletal diseases in humans, but
fortunately, robots are starting to acquire the tedious, manual labor jobs that enhance these
diseases more; therefore, robots are seen as an ethical improvement to job safety and wellness.
Musculoskeletal diseases are the leading cause of disability in the United States. MSD s are
diseases that affect the muscles, bones, and any connecting tissue , and they cause chronic pains
and mobility issues. In the workforce, there are MSD risk factors that contribute to the onset or
advancement of MSD s. They include heavy lifting, rapidly and or repeatedly doing the same
tasks, awkward positions, vibrations, bodily impacts, etc.[1]. There are many occupations that put
workers at risk for MSD s especially labor intensive jobs. The pain and immobility that can be
caused by MSD s lower the quality of life of occupants and cause reduced productivity. When an

against racism and inequality in the United States, Malcolm X, a prominent and a real Muslim

and freedom for the American black people. He achieved this through a message he passed at a
meeting that was being sponsored by the active labor forum in New York. In his speech, he
addressed several concerns and issues such as integration, black Americans reunite to prevent white
oppressors, black Americans having control over the American soil, and as well as solving
economic issues. Malcolm X speech, until today, has impacted and influenced many black

The Satirical Nature Of Tartuffe By Moliere
Wendy Ifenso Okpala
Dr Ress
WR 150
The Satirical Nature of Tartuffe The French play, Tartuffe, was written by Moliere in 1664. The
major theme in this play is exposing what is wrong in the religious society and Moliere uses
comedy to point out this out. This idea agrees with Highet, and Robert Corrigan s definition of a
satire. The first definition made by Highet is that a satire aims to expose what is wrong in our
society as Moliere tries to do with religious hypocrites. The second definition by Corrigan Robert
states that a satirists do not usually attack institutions, rather, they attack perversion of institutions
which ties back to Moliere s main point of this play. Although certain aspects of farce and comedy
are present in this play such as the nature of the characters used and the happy ending, we have to
remember Highet s idea in The Anatomy of Satire, where he explains that farce, which causes
unreasoning merriment is related to a satire. Moliere, whose original name was Jean Baptiste
Poquelin, always wrote about basic flaws seen around him, the catholic church being one of them.
He showed the troubles he had with the religious community through his characters. For example,
Tartuffethe religious hypocrite is constantly overlooked by Orgon, who is the head of the
household and his mother Madame Pernelle. However, Dorine the wise maid, and Cleante the
brother in law, are able to see what other community members usually ignore. Moliere incorporates
these ideas

Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby

Three Symbols in the Great Gatsby
Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to criticise America from straying from the American Dream .
Typically the American society tries to follow the American Dream, which is a dream of a society
that allows everyone, no matter what economic class they were born into, to be able to accomplish
whatever they want with hard work. With this principle no matter their social class Americans
should be able to accomplish anything. Fitzgerald thought that the American society wasn t
following the American dream; he successfully used symbols to criticize different aspects of
American society, showing the weakness of each deviation from the American Dream. Many
symbols were used, but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader than could decide that some actions of some characters were immoral. Fitzgerald
went on to write that the sign was faded. This symbolized that god was leaving the hearts of the
people allowing the reader to find more fault in the American society. Why were the eyes of Dr.
T.J Eckleburg one of the most important symbols in the criticism of the American dream? For
Fitzgerald to show that the society was doing things against God s will, depicts that what they
are doing is very immoral. A religious reader will probably want to side with what God judges so
they would also think that some characters in the American society were immoral. The reader
would then be more against the American society allowing Fitzgerald to better criticise it because
the reader won t be trying to defend it if they were against it.
The American Dream allows all Americans the same opportunities for self improvement. The
Valley of Ashes was a key force in the criticism of the American Dream because it was used in
two literary devices of setting and symbolism. Fitzgerald by establishing the setting in the Valley
of Ashes allowed the reader to better relate to the working class because they could see a very
detailed picture of the daily life of the working class. The Valley of Ashes depicts the working
class as not getting the same opportunities as the upper class for self improve. The working class
will probably stay in the working class

On them depends the existence of this whole culture; if they perish, the beauty of this earth will
sink into the grave with them (288). Hitler was attempting to convey to the German people that
their race and culture was superior to all others and that Aryans were invincible. Hitler wanted to
create a sense of pride, unity and stability among the people because stability was not a very strong
factor among the masses who felt they had nothing to lose. Therefore, Hitler called his political
cause quot;the movement quot;.
Movement was, indeed, one of the mythic messages, movement away from the state of stagnation
of the Weimar Republic, as the Nazis emphasized it repeatedly to persuade the masses, away from
the shameful dictate of the Versailles peace treaty, away from true blood sucking parasites, Jews,
(304) and forward towards the building of a quot;New Pure Germany quot; who would be a power

brings together in one profile the critical information needed to define order picking strategy. It
is a joint distribution that classifies all orders into lines per and cube per families. It illustrates
the typical daily picking activity. Purchase Order Profiling The purchase order profile includes
the same distributions (order mix distributions, lines per order distribution, and lines per order

However, Australian and New Zealand are the only two major independent Commonwealth
countries which retain British Ensigns as their national flags. The flag only acknowledges Australia
s historical links with the United Kingdom, unit of the six states and territories and geographical
location. Changing the flag will allow Australians to acknowledge the Aboriginal s prior ownership
of the land and even promote reconciliation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Ausflag.com, there is pictorial evidence which proves that the red ensign was the flag
which members of the Armed Services in Australia related to as Australia s de facto national flag
during both the World Wars. Meaning, that the blue ensign on our current national flag wasn t
exactly fought under . Therefore, just changing the flag will definitely not diminish the spirit of the
courageous souls which battled for the country. Instead, the heroic servicemen should be recognised
and celebrated by acknowledging them on the

  • 2. How Did Antoine Lavoisier Contribute To Chemistry Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier was a French chemist in the chemistry field of science. He was also known as the leader of the eighteenth century chemical revolution. He was born in Paris on August 26, 1743. His mother died at the age of five, although he had a close relationship with his father. Antoine had one sibling, a sister. At the age of eleven, he entered the college known as Mazarin College. Initially Antoine wanted to be an author. He submitted several essays in provincial competitions. Soon though, he gave way towards in interest in science. Antoine was making history by now because of how successful he was. In 1755 Lavoisier was appointed to the Gunpowder Administration. As a result of his improvements in the manufacture and delivery of gunpowder, France was able to send large quantities to The American Colonies during the Revolutionary War. • 8. Impact Of Duritan Era On India IMPACT OF VICTORIAN ERA ON INDIA: LITERATURE AND LANGUAGES; STREAMLINING ENGLISH MEDIUM EDUCATION The British Rule lasted for about 200 years in India (1763 1947). Early on, it started with the East India Company invading and conquering India and eventually there was a colonial shift of power, from the East India Company to the Crown, which was under the reign of Queen Victoria. She was an important proponent in transferring control of India from the East India Company to the British Government in 1858. She was declared Empress of India in 1876 after this shift of power. This process had many long term effects, including the increased use of the English language outside of Europe. It is important to realize from the outset that the Victorian period is quite long. Her reign stretched for about 63 extensive years, longer than any other British monarch. • 9. The Battle of Yorktown The Battle of Yorktown was the decisive battle of the American Revolutionary War. The French and American forces laid siege upon the British forces at Yorktown, Virginia and eventually forced the surrender of nearly one third of the total number of British troops in America. This battle showed that massive loss of life is not the only factor that will determine the victor, as there were a relatively low number of casualties taken by both sides. Instead, it was an aggregate of economic, social, geographical, and weather factors along with a bit of luck when it came to the timing of the major military movements and tactics all led to the success of the Franco American forces. Had it not been for these combined factors the Battle of Yorktown and the American Revolutionary Was may have had a very different outcome. The battle of Yorktown was fought during September and October of 1781. By definition, the actual battle is considered a siege. French naval forces cut off any support or hope of escape, and Franco American forces outnumber the British on the land. Allied forces surrounded Yorktown and bombarded the town with artillery until the British surrendered. There were many events that took place prior to this historic siege which set the conditions for what is widely considered the decisive battle leading to a Franco American victory and America s independence. • 10. Siddhartha Gautama The Buddha And His Journey, The Epoch... The story of Siddhartha Gautama is one of renunciation from a life of privilege and wealth to that of monastic asceticism, driven by an innate desire to reach enlightenment through the banishment of suffering and spiritual emptiness (Wattananarong). Gautama left behind wealth and nobility in order to cease his own suffering and upon achieving his own enlightenment, provided a path for others to follow. Following his enlightenment, Gautama came to be known as the Buddha and his journey, the epoch of Buddhism. Unaccepting of some social and cultural practices of the time, the Buddha was openly critical of the Hindu Brahman s possessiveness and almost secretive knowledge of the Veda texts; sharing this knowledge only with their son s, assuring their family s position socially and spiritually(Wattananarong). Accordingly, he proposed the solution to the cessation of one s suffering should be available to and for everyone, rather than to an exclusive few based on if one becomes a Brahma or Outcaste by birth, one becomes either by living well or living badly (Wattananarong). For this reason, he rejected the caste system predicated on the belief that all people are equal and have a right to choose how to live their lives, thereby making decisions about their future and potentially reduce or eliminate their own suffering. Hence, based on Buddha s rejection of predetermined privilege and entitlement of enlightenment for some, while denying others, it appears implausible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract In today s society, the international trading constitutes an increasingly significant portion of the world economy than ever before. Having opened more subsidiaries in different countries and invested in foreign markets, companies and investors are more exposed to problems reading accounting records and auditing reports composed under different accounting principles. To better understand the reason behind the accounting diversity, we need to dig into countries different cultural background which imposes great influence on formation of accounting and auditing principles and ways people practice. The main arguments that children give when they want a pet are simple things like, they find it instructive, joyful, and therapeutic to receive unconditional love from their pet. Children often experience their animal as someone they trust as a friend, but these are not the only advantages. Various studies have shown that having a pet is good for children s development. In this paper, I will give six reasons why having a pet is good for children. 1) Emotional support In children s lives emotions such as anger, fear, and joy are shared with animals. Children can tell secrets, and feel at ease with their pets, since the pets can t judge or talk to them. The children experience much support. It explores the United States, before and after the entire human race is wiped out by a viral infection, through the eyes of a man named Snowman who, before the outbreak, is known as Jimmy. While in high school, Jimmy meets another boy named Glenn and the two became friends. Because Biblical images and references were in the minds of most Romantic readers, a poet would often use this strategy to contextualize an assertion being made. Wordsworth is no different. However, the level to which he uses this technique within his poetry fluctuates. The Ruined Cottage only contains two obvious examples, while Michaelis rich with Biblical imagery and allusion. Because of this difference, the Biblical allusion within the two poems will be discussed within three categories those which are concerned with a connection to nature, those which inspire the hope of salvation, and those which deal with the creation and deterioration of covenants. She is presented as greedy and neglectful of the inherent spirituality in things, and possibly had false intentions behind sending Luke away. It seems this is a warning from Wordsworth. It is also valuable to note that Michael s troubles begin when his nephew defaults on a loan. However, the poem never labels him as nephew but instead, his brother s son (211). If Michael s name is meant to conjure the name of the archangel Michael, it can t be ignored that one of the brothers of that archangel is Satan. Viewing the name this way creates a parallel which makes Michael s nephew a quasi son of evil. Because of the nephew s industrious life (212), he is disconnected from the land and therefore amoral. With these instances of naming, Wordsworth seems to be commenting on how morality is connected to living life by means of nature rather than by means of material or industry. Turning now to allusions that inspire hope, we look towards Robert s Sunday clothes in The Ruined Cottage. Still in its place. His Sunday garments hung / Upon the self same nail, his very staff / Stood undisturbed behind the door (432 34). The garments that are hung up, are not just regular clothes, but his Sunday garments. Analysis Of End Times Still life paintings are a way of elevating ordinary everyday objects to a place of prominence that tell a story of the society and culture of that time; showing that everything around us, no matter how ordinary, can be seen as beautiful. Painted with watercolors in the year 1985, End Times is a still life painting by artist Michael Beck. In true trompe l oeil fashion, the painting needs to be examined up close to be able to tell that it is not a photograph. The objects placed together in this piece are not necessarily objects that one would consider for a work of art. They are items that one would find in most households, but the artist placed them together in a composition, deeming them worthy enough for such artistic expression. In End Times, unlike traditional still lifepaintings, the artist has placed the items on a wooden floor instead of a table top. The composition is balanced with vases on one side, boxes and a plant on the other and a tall wood and rattan stool in the middle with a few items on the top of the stool. There are four vases of varying heights and widths placed on the foreground on the right of the composition. The largest vase which frames the right of the picture is yellow and white has the look of a ceramic milk jug that has some dried reeds coming out of the top. During this time the people of England were beginning to progress, in a scientific and artistic way. Music wasn t the only thing that was developing, science and philosophy were also flourishing. There was a reason that music began to become an everyday part of life under Queen Elizabeth s rule. The queen herself even had a musical background and it was well known that music was her favorite art form. She also took a great interest in supporting experienced musicians and composers. From Elizabeth s interest in the arts, her people went from generational family songs to reformed masterpieces from great men, such as William Byrd, Thomas Morley, and Thomas Weelkes. Another example of compensation would be hyperventilation as a response to metabolic acidosis. The compensatory response for metabolic alkalosis is hypoventilation. Standardized Testing Has Impacted Public Schools Students are overwhelmed with school, work, extra curricular activities, family, etc. Perhaps standardized tests are a major contributor to students stress. A standardized test is any test scored in a consistent manner and requires test takers to answer identical questions. Among the most common include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT ) and the American College Test (ACT). According to the article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from Opposing Viewpoints in Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I when the American Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate inefficient recruits (Solley 3). Today, standardized tests are necessary for college admission. Just last month, in March of 2016, College Board, the non profit organization responsible for administering the SAT, altered the format of the test. It is now formatted more similar to the ACT and includes an optional essay reducing the score from 2400 to 1600. Many advocates argue standardized tests accurately measure academic intelligence and hold teachers and schools accountable. In today s society, standardized tests have become the norm, and unfortunately, people overlook their negative effects despite research substantiating arguments about their disadvantages. • 39. The Satirical Nature Of Tartuffe By Moliere Wendy Ifenso Okpala Dr Ress WR 150 The Satirical Nature of Tartuffe The French play, Tartuffe, was written by Moliere in 1664. The major theme in this play is exposing what is wrong in the religious society and Moliere uses comedy to point out this out. This idea agrees with Highet, and Robert Corrigan s definition of a satire. The first definition made by Highet is that a satire aims to expose what is wrong in our society as Moliere tries to do with religious hypocrites. The second definition by Corrigan Robert states that a satirists do not usually attack institutions, rather, they attack perversion of institutions which ties back to Moliere s main point of this play. Although certain aspects of farce and comedy are present in this play such as the nature of the characters used and the happy ending, we have to remember Highet s idea in The Anatomy of Satire, where he explains that farce, which causes unreasoning merriment is related to a satire. Moliere, whose original name was Jean Baptiste Poquelin, always wrote about basic flaws seen around him, the catholic church being one of them. He showed the troubles he had with the religious community through his characters. For example, Tartuffethe religious hypocrite is constantly overlooked by Orgon, who is the head of the household and his mother Madame Pernelle. However, Dorine the wise maid, and Cleante the brother in law, are able to see what other community members usually ignore. Moliere incorporates these ideas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why were the eyes of Dr. T.J Eckleburg one of the most important symbols in the criticism of the American dream? For Fitzgerald to show that the society was doing things against God s will, depicts that what they are doing is very immoral. A religious reader will probably want to side with what God judges so they would also think that some characters in the American society were immoral. The reader would then be more against the American society allowing Fitzgerald to better criticise it because the reader won t be trying to defend it if they were against it. The American Dream allows all Americans the same opportunities for self improvement. The Valley of Ashes was a key force in the criticism of the American Dream because it was used in two literary devices of setting and symbolism. Fitzgerald by establishing the setting in the Valley of Ashes allowed the reader to better relate to the working class because they could see a very detailed picture of the daily life of the working class.
