Loyalty In Antigone By Sophocles
In Antigone, Sophocles introduces the struggle between loyalty to civil law versus familial loyalty and
divine law, which is a central conflict in the play. Antigone has a firm belief in upholding family
values and honoring the gods and deceased by burying her brother. In contrast, Creon wants to do
what is best for the city which is, in his opinion, forbidding the burial of Polynices. Both Antigone and
Creon believe that their point of view is more important, and neither is willing to change perspective,
causing the chain of destructive events in the plot. Loyalty causes the deadly dispute between
Antigone and Creon because of their conflicting perspectives about precedence. Antigone has the
strong belief that loyalty to the dead and to the gods has precedence over all other opinions,
specifically those of Creon. Antigone does not at all care that the one with all governing power has the
most disagreement with her decision to remain devoted to her family below. Since I must please those
below a longer time than the people here, for I shall lie there forever (Sophocles 16). She knows and
understands that time in the mortal world has a limit, however time in the underworld is eternal.
Pleasing Creon and his belief to only stay true to civil laws are of no concern to Antigone, for all she
wants is to please her family below and the gods above. An example of this is the burial of Polynices,
because while it is right in Antigone s eyes, Creon believes it is foolish and a sin

Leo Howard
When I was a child, I would watch Disney Channel a lot. All the shows were okay, but one always
stood out to me. It was a show called Kickin It . I started watching this show but, then I saw him. He
played a character named Jack and, he was the handsomest man I have ever seen. His name was Leo
Howard. I was crazy obsessed with him. After I first found out about the show I watched it non stop.
Every episode that I can, but, first I should explain the show. It was a show about karate. It usually
took place in the Dojo that the Sensei, Rudy, owned. The other main characters Kim, Milton, Jerry,
and Eddie. Leo s character, Jack, later then joins the Dojo. What was not to like about Leo Howard as
a kid. He does karate, he s very handsome, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Miami. When I was older I wanted to move to Miami and either go on the show or find Leo. I wanted
nothing more as a child to meet Leo. I actually thought I was going to meet then marry Leo someday.
One day I was outside, and I found a pinecone and I decided to the He loves me he loves me not kind

Comparing The Battle Of Stalingrad And Operation Barbarossa
World War 1 and World War 2 brought immense devastation to people and countries in the 20th
century. A variety of battles took place in both wars, in which developed significant turning points for
the war. Many momentous battles defined the outcome of the war. Turning points in the war were
either advantageous or unfortunate for the rivalry powers. The Allies and the Axis Powers participated
in many cruel, blood shedding battles in order to advance and dominate countries.Operation
Barbarossa, Attack on Pearl Harbor and Battle at Stalingrad were critical events that changed the
course of the war. The Battle at Stalingrad and Operation Barbarossa left Germany with terrible
defeats. Japan s attack at Pearl Harbor made entry for the United States and toughen the Allies

Germany s severe lost in Operation Barbarossa became a crucial moment as the battle weakened
Hitler s army and had them fighting on two fronts. Before this unexpected intrusion, Hitler in June of
1941, annulled the Nazi Soviet Pact. Germany and Soviet Union made an agreement with one another
to not fight each other in war and share Poland and other European countries. Three million Axis
troops invaded Soviet Union with their artillery guns, tanks and aircrafts in November. Operation
Barbarossa lasted through the winter season. Hitler s unconscious mistake of invading Soviet Union in
the wintertime caused his men to become crippled. The Nazi German army weakened as the weather
in Soviet Union decreased drastically. Hitler s men did not have enough clothing to keep warm, so
many suffered from frostbite. Tanks and other weaponry broke down due to the intense cold. Germany
s failure in Operation Barbarossa later on had them fighting on the Eastern Front and Western Front.
Weakened Germany was unable to fight through and conquer both fronts, leaving Germany to then

Implementation Of A Comprehensive Incident Management...
BLTYH S BOOKS INCIDENT SECURITY MANAGEMENT POLICY AND THE ISO/IEC 27035
The ISO/IEC 27035 standard embodies the acceptable practice for the management of information
security and ascertains the guidelines for the initiation, execution, maintenance and enhancement of
information security management in organisations. The ISO 27035 standard is proposed to be a guide
for emergent organisations in developing and implementing their information security policies. The
implementation of this standard will improve an organisation s capability of tackling information
security incidents adequately as well as allay the negative effects of such incidents either directly or
otherwise on their business operations. Proposed by this standard are five phases which organisations
are encouraged to adopt in preparing for information security incidents.
Blyth s Books information security incident management policy needs to reflect the advised activities
expressed in the five phases of incident management to be ISO 27035 compliant.
PLAN AND PREPARE
The plan and prepare phase is quite broad. This phase comprises of the establishment of a
comprehensive incident management structure, the formation of an Information Security Incident
Response Team (ISIRT), creating awareness for the incident management structure and the testing of
such structure. Blyth s Books should include in their incident management policy a more
comprehensive review of the vulnerabilities that are presently associated with their

The Patient Education Program Will Increase Patient Safety
The patient education program will increase patient safety and will improve HCAHPS medication
communication scores . A patient s understanding of medications is very important to a satisfactory
patient experience and it also improves safety and quality. A recent study shows that only 35% of
patients knew the side effects of their medication (Hays, Ron D., et al. Physician Communication
When Prescribing New Medications. ) Archives of Internal Medicine 166, no. 17 (2006): 1855 62
Many health care organizations have used Lewin s theory to recognize human behavior as it relates to
change and patterns of resistance to change, the model encompasses three distinct phases known as
unfreezing, moving and freezing or refreezing (Bozak, 2003). The purpose of the model is to
distinguish factors that can impede change from happening; forces that are in opposition to change
often called restraining or static forces and forces that promote change, referred to as driving forces .
When health care organizations fully understand what behaviors drive or oppose change, then work to
reinforce the positive driving forces, change can happen successfully (Bozak, 2003).
Unfreezing Stage In Lewin s unfreezing stage, an understanding of the difficulties related to the
recognized problem is sought and strategies are developed to reinforce the driving forces and weaken
or reduce the restraining forces (Bozak, 2003, p. 81). Unfreezing involves identifying key players

New Zealand Ministry Of Justice Essay
On 6 February 1840, representatives of the British Crown and numerous Maori chiefs united in the
ceremony of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi documentation in the Bay of
Islands, New Zealand, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1) This, signified the official
colonisation of New Zealand and with this the promise of certain principles that were to be upheld by
the British law, including that of Protection, Participation and Partnership, for all citizens now unified
under the British Crown (MOH, 2000b). (2)
Controversially, due to translational implications the true intention and meaning of the Te Tiriti o
Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi has been often contested due to the Maori losing much of their
Autonomy along with their cultural history, this adversely affecting Maori spiritual, mental, emotional,
and physical health outcomes, both individually as well as within the family structure, which is still
evident 175 years later, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1).
Along with colonisation, many foreign diseases such as measles, mumps, tuberculosis and whooping
cough, that infiltrated New Zealand, proving detrimental for Maori as their immune systems were yet
to develop antibodies and immunity to the newly introduced pathogens, (Pool, 2012). Concurrently,
this resulted in a high morbidity and mortality rate around the end of the 1800s, as according to
statistics, the Maori population declined in number from approximately 100,000 in 1767,

A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay
Literature Review
While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual
exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was
abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the
20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in
part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected
victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and
services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been
amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat
human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the
United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which
transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911
environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime
activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016).
However, this crime control approach to human trafficking failed to address the underlying structural
problems, which is the high demand for the sex trafficking industry. Over time, the Department of

The And Its Impact On The Future
The man, a little being compared to the Universe, often feels threatened by wars, comets, natural
phenomena and all those dates that contain repeating numbers that seem to bring the end of the world,
but truly the end comes? To this day, many predictions about the end of the world have emerged, but
none has come true, that is why it has always existed and will probably continue to exist that doubt
about what will happen to the world in the future. The end has been predicted by scientists, ancient
civilizations, different religions, and many others. For example, Nostradamus was one of the most
famous scientists that wrote many prophecies and events about the future, his predictions are known
worldwide and have impacted societies; as him, there are other scientists such as Isaac Newton,
Stephen Hawking, and Richard Noone. Moreover, the Mayans, an ancient civilization, known as one
of the most advanced civilizations in the field of mathematics, astronomy, physics and arts; they are
also known for predicting that the world would end of December 21, 2012. Perhaps, this was one of
the most famous prophecies in recent times. Also, different religions such as the Jehovah s Witnesses
has predicted many times the end of the world. The impact of this topic is very well known, many
people have been influenced greatly. Even Hollywood have been carried away by those predictions
and theories, creating movies such as The day after tomorrow or 2012 , where they show what would
happen.

Cell Signaling Essay
Cell signaling in the central nervous system refers to the communication that occurs in cells to
coordinate* cell actions, as the cells receive and respond to other cells to help with many functions in
the body, from immunity to development to growth.
Cell signaling begins at the axon of the cell, which is the long fiber part of a nerve cell where
electrical impulses are conducted and sent from the cell body through the axon to other cells. At the
axon the action potential (define short term change in the electrical potential on the surface of a cell
(e.g. a nerve cell or muscle cell) in response to stimulation, and then leads to the transmission of an
electrical impulse (nerve impulse) that travels across the cell membrane.) is conducted. ... Show more

The voltage dependent sodium and potassium channels are closed. A stimulus would then cause the
voltage dependent sodium channels in the neuron s membrane to open, causing the Na+ ions that were
outside the membrane to rush into the cell. This would cause the cell to become more positive. If the
signal is strong enough to cause the voltage to reach a threshold, in which the positive charge reaches
somewhere between 40 and 55 mV, it causes a depolairsation as the cell s charge is a reverse due to it
being more positively charged while the outside of the cell, lacking in Na+, becomes negatively
charged.
The depolarization triggers the sodium channels to close, and the voltage dependent potassium
channels to open, causing K+ to move out of the cell to reduce the concentration gradient**. This is
the repolarisation stage, as the inside of the cell becomes more negative as the K+ ions leave the cell.
The neuron is then hyperpolarised when there are more K+ on the outside than Na+ in the inside of
the cell, meaning the cell has a more negative charge than the outside of the cell. This causes the cell s
potential to be slightly lower than its initial resting potential. This is the last stage of an action
potential, after which there is a refractory (resting) period until which the cell returns to its resting

The Meaning Of A True Education
Synthesis Essay Rough Draft
A true education can be defined as enough knowledge given to a student to be successful in life after
completing school. The purpose of school is to give students this true education, but as time passes, so
must the old ways of accomplishing this. Reformists have made an effort to adjust the education
system to accompany the changing economy and surpass competition, and in doing so, have lost sight
of a true education. The schools of today s society attempt to prepare students for the future by
providing them with basic academic skills; although these skills are handy for doing well on
standardized tests, they are nearly ineffectual for thriving in daily life.
The first time the education of children became serious was in the Age of Enlightenment. During this
time, the quality of education was based on the economy, thus it was a primitive basis of education.
The current education system still runs on some of these old ideas, but in truth, the validity of these
principles has expired (RSA). However, the education system has developed somewhat, and some
aspects of the information taught to students have advanced. Nevertheless, it is advancing in the
wrong direction. The education students receive prepare them for college; it doesn t prepare them for
any other pathway. When we went to school, we were kept there with a story which is if you worked
hard and did well and got a college degree, you would have a job (RSA). This is a common

The way Google has structured its management and divided the stock has put Brin and Page in a

The Concept Of Intertextuality
Introduction
Research Background
Derived from the Latin intertexto, intertextuality is the complex relationship between texts, which
accounts for a separate field or location in which the text can act. The term intertextuality was
acknowledged as Julia Kristeva s coinage in the late 1960s in the context of structuralist and post
structuralist thoughts going at it hammer and tongs. Translation Studies, an interdisciplinary field,
centers on creating a comprehensive solution for complex problems encountered in translating
process. From the moment that the theory of intertextuality was integrated into the field of Translation
Studies in the late 1970s, the concept of translation activity has undergone a radical evolution. Since
the intertextual network has weakened the major and minor relationships between the source text and
the target ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relevant literature review are offered in Chapter 1, exploring where a contribution to knowledge may
be situated. Chapter 2 begins by considering the origin of intertextuality theory from a number of
linguistic, literary and philosophical key figures to outline clearly its development process. Thereafter,
it is explained how intertextuality is related to translation. An explanation then follows of how
translating activity can be analyzed in terms of reading and translating when the intertextuality is
taken as an effective approach and principle. This chapter also includes considering intertextuality as
applicable to the analysis of the case adopted in this study, explaining why it is feasible to use the
framework to analyze the material. The main analyses are presented in Chapters 3 with intertextual
approach to the co translation. Fairclough s classification of manifest and constitutive intertextuality is
used to construct the structure of this part and source and target texts are then analyzed to explore
intertextual effects on translating

With a 99.8 literacy rate, Cuba is ranked higher than both Britain and the United states. The reason for
its high literacy rate is because after the revolution, the government sent out students to go out and
teach those who could not read and mainly focused on the rural parts of Cuba. Women and afro
Cubans made up most of the illiterate population, and historically they were always targeted, however
when the literacy campaign begin they were not forgotten. Education is viewed in Cuba as a basic

The Bible And The Interpretation Of The Bible
Although the interpretation of the Bible is the particular task of the exegetes, it does not belong,
however, as a monopoly, since it involves, in the Church, aspects that go beyond the scientific analysis
of the texts. The Church, in effect, does not consider the Bible simply as a set of historical documents
concerning its origins. She welcomes it as the Word of God that directs her and the whole world, in
the present time.
This conviction of faith has as a consequence the practice of updating and inculturating the biblical
message, as well as the different ways of using the inspired texts, in the liturgy, the Lectio divina , the
pastoral ministry, and the ecumenical movement.

allegory makes their stories and characters, intricate, so that they represent something greater than
their literal standing. Provided that, how is Lord of the Flies, an allegory for humanity? As a matter of
fact, several characters in the novel represent a larger aspect, and together, unite the idea of humanity
on the Earth. Ralph epitomizes civilization. At the same time, Jack represents a self destructive
anarchy. Piggy illustrates rational thought, whereas Roger embodies sadism. Lastly, there is Simon,
who exemplifies the spiritual side of man. There are many types of symbols that one uses in ... Show

The final character, Simon, is a religious symbol. Simon exemplifies the spiritual side of man, for he
is compassionate, peaceful, and in conformity with nature. On page 50, Simon is the only boy helping
Ralph build the shelter, proving to be compassionate. His persona is akin to that of Jesus Christ. Like
Jesus, others mock Simon as an outsider distinguishing his behavior as bizarre or queer . When Simon
tells Ralph, All the same. You ll get back all right. I think so, anyway , Ralph is confused and refers to
him as batty (pg. 111). He is also the only one who hears the Lord of the Flies speak and is first to
comprehend that the beast is within each of us. This act simulates Christ s discussion with the devil
during his forty days in the wilderness. The Lord of the Flies tells him, Fancy thinking the Beast was
something you could hunt and kill! (pg. 143). However, because of Simon s uneasiness, he cannot
articulate this understanding. On page 89, Simon attempts to tell the group that Maybe it s only us ,
but no one understands what he means. Later, when Simon realizes the figure on the mountain is just a
dead man , he is killed by Jack s tribe, for they leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore (pg.
153). There are acclaimed parallels between Simon s murder and Christ s sacrifice on the cross, but
Simon s epiphany is more of a debunking,

Real estate agents draft the agreement of purchase and sale and make sure everything is up to par for
closing. They receive commissions from the seller. Their fraud usually concerns falsifying the value of
the property.
Lender is the financial institution that approves the borrower loan application in order to acquire the
home. In most cases the lenders are the financial victims.
Mortgage Brokers may or may not be involved in obtaining financing. Their involvement is at the
discretion of the borrower. Mortgage broker may act for both the seller and borrower. They can assist
the applicant in completing the loan application submitted to the lender as well as collect and review
the various documents needed to support the applications. Mortgage brokers are paid fee or
commission by the lender; therefore they are influenced to close as many loans as possible.
Appraiser asses the market value of a property so that the value of the property is within the lender s

Police Corruption The law enforcement role has authority and power in any society, and often that
power is combined with the ability to make discretionary decisions that may profoundly affect the
lives of the people in the community. With abundant power and authority, the temptation for
corruption occurs. Police corruption is one major type of police misconduct, and has been known
throughout history. According to Pollock (2012), police corruption does not occur just in the United
States (p. 175). It is well known that in Mexico many officers are corrupt. In Mexico, police officers
are induced and even coerced to collaborate with different drug dealers throughout the country
(Pollock, 2012). This paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the streets are much safer and accidents can be avoided if the law is strictly and
fairly forced.
Graft
Graft occurs when officers exploit their role by accepting bribes or money in exchange for protection
(Pollock, 2012). Corrupt officers, for example, may use their uniformed authority to ask for money
from business owners or gangsters, with the implied threat of enforcement or difficulty in conducting
business as usual. Another police corruption pattern occurs when some police officers engage criminal
activities during their daily tasks until they change their career positions from police to criminal cops
(Pollock, 2012).
On Duty Use Alcohol and Drugs and Sexual Misconduct It is no secret that some officers use alcohol
and drugs while on duty. Although undercover officers are more likely to use alcohol and drugs on
duty, the on duty use of drugs and alcohol may be found in the deviant behavior of regular patrol
officers. Addiction to drugs and alcohol are potential sources of law enforcement misconduct and
corruption. It sets a bad example for public relations. It will certainly affect judgment, and possibly
lead to a greater likelihood of use of deadly force or officer involved traffic accidents. Sexual
misconduct occurs when officers use their authority as a means to receive sexual acts from citizens or
society. For example, a male officer pulls a beautiful motorist woman over and offers to forego issuing

The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay
The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England during the
years 1348 1350. The Black Death is believed to have killed between 30 45% of people in England
alone. There were numerous ideas if what the cause of the disease was but in reality, was a bacteria
born disease from the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which was carried on the fleas off infected black rats
and spread to Europe by Genoese trading ships from Asia. Some historians believed the Black Death
marked the beginning of a deep recession within Britain as well as the beginning of the Renaissance, a
period of striking artistic expression, whereas other historians seem to take the view point that the
Black Death simply amplified an already declining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already
happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the Black
Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the severe living
conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17.
Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have not
been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing them to
lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour intensive
cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required less care than
crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their money. This is supported
by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest workers in Norfolk, to find an
intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in 1341 and a decrease in bread
consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a clear shift, which may have resulted
from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may have been a turning point at the time as

The Impact Of Technology In Foreign AffairsBy Alison Lurie
In today s changing world, technology has influenced most everyone. In this new age, many different
opinions and controversies have arose. Foreign Affairs, a novel by Alison Lurie, uses fictional
characters and events to create ideas, illustrated in the novel, that compel the reader to think about
common societal issues and their causes. Foreign Affairs uses characters ideas on tourism and places
emphasis on societal norms and the characters opinions of them as a catalyst to nudge the reader into
this thought about common issues in society. Virginia (Vinnie) Miner, an advanced professor at
Corinth University in the novel, illustrates societal behaviors and their impact on her. Fred Turner,
another professor at Corinth University in the novel, discusses tourism and his opinions of it with
friends in London, England. Plato s Allegory of the Cave , Comic by Scott McCloud, and Adam
Gopnik s article Stones and Bones can be used as lenses to view Foreign Affairs. When using
McCloud s lens, the emphasis on societal behaviors and tourism in Foreign Affairs, acts as a vehicle
for cogitation on the reader s part about the actual and representational and their roles in the world
today. Plato s lens, when applied to Foreign Affairs, leads the reader to consider the effects of people
living in a representational world as opposed to living in the actual world. Gopnik s lens addresses
aspects of tourism that lack the actual culture and emotion behind an event or place, leading to a

In 1993, three boys were murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas. Because of the condition the victims

Persuasive Essay On Little Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine were a group of nine black students who enrolled at formerly all white Central
High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in September 1957. Their attendance at the school was a test of
Brown v. Board of Education, a landmark 1954 Supreme Court ruling that declared segregation in
public schools unconstitutional. On September 4, 1957, the first day of classes at Central High,
Governor Orval Faubus called in the Arkansas National Guard to block the black students entry into
the high school. Later that month, President Dwight D. Eisenhower sent in federal troops to escort the
Little Rock Nine into the school.
In response to the Brown decisions and pressure from the local chapter of the National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Little Rock, Arkansas, school board adopted a
plan for gradual integration of its schools. The first institutions to integrate would be the high schools,

Nutritional Deficiency Of Vitamin And Its Effects On The...
Nutritional deficiency of Zn in humans is associated with major disease conditions like growth
retardation, cell mediated immune dysfunction, cognitive impairment and increased susceptibility to
infection. Zn modulates various aspects of the immune system. Many in vivo studies have shown the
impact of Zn deficiency and supplementation on the normal development and key functions of
immune cells. Dietary Zn deficiency is known to influence the onset of autoimmune diseases and also
prolongs disease severity 35. A study showed that Zn suppresses Th17 mediated rheumatoid arthritis
by inhibiting Th17 cell development 36. Furthermore, Zn supplementation therapy partially restores
these immune deficiencies. Higher Zn intake is associated with improved resistance to infection and
reduced duration of illness and improvements in specific lymphocyte subpopulation numbers for
example T regs, Th1 and Th2 cells 37. In this study we show that zinc supplementation induced a
tolerogenic phenotype in DCs both in vitro and in vivo and promoted the development of regulatory T
cells and affected the Treg Th17 balance favourably to induce tolerance. DCs are major mediators of
proinflammmatory and anti inflammatory (tolerogenic) responses 12. Tolerogenic DCs function by
causing effector T cell deletion, anergy and induction of regulatory T cells 17. Tolerogenic DCs are
induced by a variety of environmental factors such as the presence of immunosuppressive drugs,
nutritional factors,

13 Reasons Why Books Should Be Banned
What is a banned book? Well a banned book is a book that people have tried to get teens not to read,
not only teens but also for younger children. This means that people don t like what content may be in
a book, they think it s inappropriate or not meeting the standards for the age group. That s when
banning a book takes place. Before a book can be considered banned a person has to challenge the
book. No,not like a like a fight with a book, but just an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based
upon the objections of a person or a group. says The American Library Association. Then after the
book is challenge the library board will decide if the book shall be banned or not. A lot of books are
banned and 13 reasons why is one of them. Teens should be allowed to read 13 reasons why because it
teaches people that words truly do hurt, Choices that people make in life can affect others too, and it
also teaches people to ask for help when it is needed. One reason teens should read 13 reasons why is
because it teaches people that words someone says can actually hurt people. Words truly do hurt, and

The Cherry Orchard Essay
The Cherry Orchard The Misunderstood Comedy When the first production of The Cherry Orchard
was performed on stage in Moscow, there was a significant difference of opinion between the author
and directors. Chekhov strongly faulted the directors interpretation that the play should be preformed
as a tragedy and insisted that what he had written was a comedy. The famous philosopher Aristotle
defined a comedy as quot;an imitation of characters of a lower type who are not bad in themselves but
whose faults possess something ludicrous in them. quot; The misinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard
could be mainly due to a misunderstanding of the comic character. A quot;comic quot; character is

It is this that forms the ludicrous or comic essence of Lyubov s character. True, Lyubov s character
does have her tragic moments. At the end of act four, Ania refers to her mother as to having been

actions do not show it. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be the passing of the old
order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard. Since Chekhov did not belong
to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had written plays on the same theme,
Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming personally involved. He was able to see the the

Literature Summary Of Thorax
Review of literature
Thorax is a composed of many integrated systems including the muscles, bones and other soft tissues
organ systems, the biomechanics of which, impart the thorax a high mechanical resistance to injury,
mainly due to distinctive elastic properties of the rib and spine system supported by muscles. So,
understanding the complex mechanics of the thorax is critical for understanding the vast multiplex of
injuries sustained in various different circumstances.
Anatomy
The skeleton of the thoracic wall is formed by
the spinal column and 12 thoracic vertebrae
the sternum
12 paired ribs and costal cartilages
The sternum
It is a dagger shaped bone, which forms the anterior part of the thoracic cage and consists of three
parts.
The manubrium
The body
The xiphoid process
The ribs
The ribs run in an oblique, inferior direction from their posterior articulation to their anterior
articulation. For example, rib 2 articulates with the T2 vertebra posteriorly but with the sternal angle at
the T4 vertebral level anteriorly.
There are three types of ribs
1) True ribs
1st to 7th ribs which attach directly to the sternum through their own costal cartilages.
2) False ribs
8th to 10th ribs which are connected to the cartilage of the rib above them
3) Floating ribs
11th and 12th rib which do not connect even indirectly with the sternum
Ribs can be further classified as
1) Typical ribs 3rd to 9th.

The Power Of Flattery In King Lear
In the year 1605, the oldest daughter of an elderly man claimed her father was senile and no longer
could make decisions on his own. This daughter believed she should be able to take over his estate.
The younger daughter named Cordell defended her father s sanity and protected her father s estate and
dignity. This sad situation was becoming an issue in 17th Century Britain. This occurrence could have
been the model for one of Shakespeare s most famous plays, King Lear. Shakespeare s play King Lear
showcases the difference between true love and devotion and the destructive power of false words of
love and flattery.
In the beginning of King Lear, we see the cast of main characters King Lear and his three daughters
Cordelia, Goneril, and Regan having a big discussion. King Lear askes his daughters who loves him
the most, whoever can put in words who loves him the most gets most of his lands, wealth and
authority. While Goneril and Regan give lofty exaggerated words on their loves for their father,
Cordelia remains silent. Cordelia refuses to answer the question, this shocks and angers King Lear
since Cordelia is his favorite daughter. The king in his anger disowns Cordelia and sends her off to be
married to the king of France without any dowry. He then divides his kingdom between the two
daughters who flattered him, Goneril and Regan. Brian Sheerin in his article, Making Use of Nothing:
The Sovereignties of King Lear states, King Lear receives nothing for his potlatch, and

We would like to take over the ownership of a liquor business named By Pass Liquor store located at

a listing price of $335,000 for real estate, furniture equipment, building and including inventory about
$30,000. In order to transfer the ownership of this business to us we are seeking funding from the First
state bank, and it will be utilized to buy the real estate, all the equipment and inventory. We also have
cash amount about $135,000 that also can be used to operate and improve the business. Repayment of
the loan and interest can begin promptly as the bank s policy. We have already seen all the paperwork

business can repay the mortgage and give us $5000.00 of net profit monthly.
This sale of the goods of this business is consistent, and has been serving the costumers for a long
time since 1978. Because of our long experience in Liquor store and Convenience store, it is easy for

direction in my life. However, I thought it would be more useful to discover the background on it and
see how it functions within business. I think using an inventory can tell people a great deal about
themselves. Similar to the collection of inventories we have taken in class, they give invaluable insight
to the way one works, thinks, and acts. This has basis in my area of study, psychology. I think

Any and all experiences in life involved two basic processes perception and interpretation. Perception
is what we experience and interpretation is what we make of the experience (Goby Lewis, 2000). The
typology was based off Carl Jung s beliefs, but was researched in the 1940 s and 1950 s. Following the
end of World War II, the idea was picked up and worked on by Katherine C. Briggs, who had seen
incompatible matches during the war between skills of individuals and the duties they were given. She
wanted to find an instrument that could make it easier to select appropriate people for their respected
jobs. Katherine Briggs daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, eventually joined her mother in her research
(Goby Lewis, 2000).
Extraversion vs. Introversion
The first preference in the inventory is called Favorite World, this means where a person focuses their
attention ( MBTI Basics n.d.). The two options are E or I, Extraversion or Introversion. Focusing
attention on people and things or the outer world, is extraversion. Focusing attention on the ideas and
information or one s inner world is introversion (Hammer, 2014). People who prefer extraversion
usually put more effort into activities and the people surrounding them. The opposite of that is those
who typically put more effort into themselves and prefer introversion ( Myers Briggs Type Indicator
(MBTI) 2014). If a person

they named their society Jonestown. The Church made
everything they needed and were essentially isolated from
the rest of the world. In Guyana, Jim was becoming less

so everyone had somewhat of stock invested, making Jim
less important. When Jim saw his importance fading, he

present in his body. Even though Jones forbid the use of
drugs, he became dependent on barbiturates and
painkillers. His excuse was that he needed them for the
pain of his non existent injuries. Then as quickly as it
grew it ended. The People Temple killed a congressman
coming to observe their life style. Knowing the
repercussions of this Jones organized a revolutionary
suicide that proved to everyone that they would not

  • 2. Loyalty In Antigone By Sophocles In Antigone, Sophocles introduces the struggle between loyalty to civil law versus familial loyalty and divine law, which is a central conflict in the play. Antigone has a firm belief in upholding family values and honoring the gods and deceased by burying her brother. In contrast, Creon wants to do what is best for the city which is, in his opinion, forbidding the burial of Polynices. Both Antigone and Creon believe that their point of view is more important, and neither is willing to change perspective, causing the chain of destructive events in the plot. Loyalty causes the deadly dispute between Antigone and Creon because of their conflicting perspectives about precedence. Antigone has the strong belief that loyalty to the dead and to the gods has precedence over all other opinions, specifically those of Creon. Antigone does not at all care that the one with all governing power has the most disagreement with her decision to remain devoted to her family below. Since I must please those below a longer time than the people here, for I shall lie there forever (Sophocles 16). She knows and understands that time in the mortal world has a limit, however time in the underworld is eternal. Pleasing Creon and his belief to only stay true to civil laws are of no concern to Antigone, for all she wants is to please her family below and the gods above. An example of this is the burial of Polynices, because while it is right in Antigone s eyes, Creon believes it is foolish and a sin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Germany s severe lost in Operation Barbarossa became a crucial moment as the battle weakened Hitler s army and had them fighting on two fronts. Before this unexpected intrusion, Hitler in June of 1941, annulled the Nazi Soviet Pact. Germany and Soviet Union made an agreement with one another to not fight each other in war and share Poland and other European countries. Three million Axis troops invaded Soviet Union with their artillery guns, tanks and aircrafts in November. Operation Barbarossa lasted through the winter season. Hitler s unconscious mistake of invading Soviet Union in the wintertime caused his men to become crippled. The Nazi German army weakened as the weather in Soviet Union decreased drastically. Hitler s men did not have enough clothing to keep warm, so many suffered from frostbite. Tanks and other weaponry broke down due to the intense cold. Germany s failure in Operation Barbarossa later on had them fighting on the Eastern Front and Western Front. BLTYH S BOOKS INCIDENT SECURITY MANAGEMENT POLICY AND THE ISO/IEC 27035 The ISO/IEC 27035 standard embodies the acceptable practice for the management of information security and ascertains the guidelines for the initiation, execution, maintenance and enhancement of information security management in organisations. The ISO 27035 standard is proposed to be a guide for emergent organisations in developing and implementing their information security policies. • 6. The Patient Education Program Will Increase Patient Safety The patient education program will increase patient safety and will improve HCAHPS medication communication scores . A patient s understanding of medications is very important to a satisfactory patient experience and it also improves safety and quality. A recent study shows that only 35% of patients knew the side effects of their medication (Hays, Ron D., et al. Physician Communication When Prescribing New Medications. ) Archives of Internal Medicine 166, no. 17 (2006): 1855 62 Many health care organizations have used Lewin s theory to recognize human behavior as it relates to change and patterns of resistance to change, the model encompasses three distinct phases known as unfreezing, moving and freezing or refreezing (Bozak, 2003). The purpose of the model is to distinguish factors that can impede change from happening; forces that are in opposition to change often called restraining or static forces and forces that promote change, referred to as driving forces . When health care organizations fully understand what behaviors drive or oppose change, then work to reinforce the positive driving forces, change can happen successfully (Bozak, 2003). Unfreezing Stage In Lewin s unfreezing stage, an understanding of the difficulties related to the recognized problem is sought and strategies are developed to reinforce the driving forces and weaken or reduce the restraining forces (Bozak, 2003, p. 81). • 7. New Zealand Ministry Of Justice Essay On 6 February 1840, representatives of the British Crown and numerous Maori chiefs united in the ceremony of the signing of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi documentation in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1) This, signified the official colonisation of New Zealand and with this the promise of certain principles that were to be upheld by the British law, including that of Protection, Participation and Partnership, for all citizens now unified under the British Crown (MOH, 2000b). (2) Controversially, due to translational implications the true intention and meaning of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi has been often contested due to the Maori losing much of their Autonomy along with their cultural history, this adversely affecting Maori spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health outcomes, both individually as well as within the family structure, which is still evident 175 years later, (New Zealand Ministry of Justice, 2015). (1). Along with colonisation, many foreign diseases such as measles, mumps, tuberculosis and whooping cough, that infiltrated New Zealand, proving detrimental for Maori as their immune systems were yet to develop antibodies and immunity to the newly introduced pathogens, (Pool, 2012). Concurrently, this resulted in a high morbidity and mortality rate around the end of the 1800s, as according to statistics, the Maori population declined in number from approximately 100,000 in 1767, ... • 8. A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay Literature Review While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the 20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911 environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016). However, this crime control approach to human trafficking failed to address the underlying structural problems, which is the high demand for the sex trafficking industry. Over time, the Department of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The And Its Impact On The Future The man, a little being compared to the Universe, often feels threatened by wars, comets, natural phenomena and all those dates that contain repeating numbers that seem to bring the end of the world, but truly the end comes? To this day, many predictions about the end of the world have emerged, but none has come true, that is why it has always existed and will probably continue to exist that doubt about what will happen to the world in the future. The end has been predicted by scientists, ancient civilizations, different religions, and many others. For example, Nostradamus was one of the most famous scientists that wrote many prophecies and events about the future, his predictions are known worldwide and have impacted societies; as him, there are other scientists such as Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, and Richard Noone. Moreover, the Mayans, an ancient civilization, known as one of the most advanced civilizations in the field of mathematics, astronomy, physics and arts; they are also known for predicting that the world would end of December 21, 2012. Perhaps, this was one of the most famous prophecies in recent times. Also, different religions such as the Jehovah s Witnesses has predicted many times the end of the world. • 12. Cell Signaling Essay Cell signaling in the central nervous system refers to the communication that occurs in cells to coordinate* cell actions, as the cells receive and respond to other cells to help with many functions in the body, from immunity to development to growth. Cell signaling begins at the axon of the cell, which is the long fiber part of a nerve cell where electrical impulses are conducted and sent from the cell body through the axon to other cells. At the axon the action potential (define short term change in the electrical potential on the surface of a cell (e.g. a nerve cell or muscle cell) in response to stimulation, and then leads to the transmission of an electrical impulse (nerve impulse) that travels across the cell membrane.) is conducted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The voltage dependent sodium and potassium channels are closed. A stimulus would then cause the voltage dependent sodium channels in the neuron s membrane to open, causing the Na+ ions that were outside the membrane to rush into the cell. This would cause the cell to become more positive. If the signal is strong enough to cause the voltage to reach a threshold, in which the positive charge reaches somewhere between 40 and 55 mV, it causes a depolairsation as the cell s charge is a reverse due to it being more positively charged while the outside of the cell, lacking in Na+, becomes negatively charged. The depolarization triggers the sodium channels to close, and the voltage dependent potassium channels to open, causing K+ to move out of the cell to reduce the concentration gradient**. This is the repolarisation stage, as the inside of the cell becomes more negative as the K+ ions leave the cell. The neuron is then hyperpolarised when there are more K+ on the outside than Na+ in the inside of the cell, meaning the cell has a more negative charge than the outside of the cell. This causes the cell s potential to be slightly lower than its initial resting potential. This is the last stage of an action potential, after which there is a refractory (resting) period until which the cell returns to its resting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Meaning Of A True Education Synthesis Essay Rough Draft A true education can be defined as enough knowledge given to a student to be successful in life after completing school. The purpose of school is to give students this true education, but as time passes, so must the old ways of accomplishing this. Reformists have made an effort to adjust the education system to accompany the changing economy and surpass competition, and in doing so, have lost sight of a true education. The schools of today s society attempt to prepare students for the future by providing them with basic academic skills; although these skills are handy for doing well on standardized tests, they are nearly ineffectual for thriving in daily life. The first time the education of children became serious was in the Age of Enlightenment. During this time, the quality of education was based on the economy, thus it was a primitive basis of education. The current education system still runs on some of these old ideas, but in truth, the validity of these principles has expired (RSA). However, the education system has developed somewhat, and some aspects of the information taught to students have advanced. Nevertheless, it is advancing in the wrong direction. The education students receive prepare them for college; it doesn t prepare them for any other pathway. The Concept Of Intertextuality Introduction Research Background Derived from the Latin intertexto, intertextuality is the complex relationship between texts, which accounts for a separate field or location in which the text can act. A study showed that Zn suppresses Th17 mediated rheumatoid arthritis by inhibiting Th17 cell development 36. Furthermore, Zn supplementation therapy partially restores these immune deficiencies. Higher Zn intake is associated with improved resistance to infection and reduced duration of illness and improvements in specific lymphocyte subpopulation numbers for example T regs, Th1 and Th2 cells 37. In this study we show that zinc supplementation induced a tolerogenic phenotype in DCs both in vitro and in vivo and promoted the development of regulatory T cells and affected the Treg Th17 balance favourably to induce tolerance. DCs are major mediators of proinflammmatory and anti inflammatory (tolerogenic) responses 12. Tolerogenic DCs function by causing effector T cell deletion, anergy and induction of regulatory T cells 17. Tolerogenic DCs are induced by a variety of environmental factors such as the presence of immunosuppressive drugs, nutritional factors, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cherry Orchard Essay The Cherry Orchard The Misunderstood Comedy When the first production of The Cherry Orchard was performed on stage in Moscow, there was a significant difference of opinion between the author and directors. Chekhov strongly faulted the directors interpretation that the play should be preformed as a tragedy and insisted that what he had written was a comedy. The famous philosopher Aristotle defined a comedy as quot;an imitation of characters of a lower type who are not bad in themselves but whose faults possess something ludicrous in them. quot; The misinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard could be mainly due to a misunderstanding of the comic character. True, Lyubov s character does have her tragic moments. At the end of act four, Ania refers to her mother as to having been crying all morning. Lyubov also expresses a lot of stress from not having money, even though her actions do not show it. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be the passing of the old order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard. Since Chekhov did not belong to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had written plays on the same theme, Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming personally involved. He was able to see the the comedy of the whole situation and give it an artistic form of a play full of comic characters. Nothing was further form Chekhov s thoughts then that his characters should spread a feeling of gloom or depression on his audience. • 37. The Power Of Flattery In King Lear In the year 1605, the oldest daughter of an elderly man claimed her father was senile and no longer could make decisions on his own. This daughter believed she should be able to take over his estate. The younger daughter named Cordell defended her father s sanity and protected her father s estate and dignity. This sad situation was becoming an issue in 17th Century Britain. This occurrence could have been the model for one of Shakespeare s most famous plays, King Lear. Shakespeare s play King Lear showcases the difference between true love and devotion and the destructive power of false words of love and flattery. In the beginning of King Lear, we see the cast of main characters King Lear and his three daughters Cordelia, Goneril, and Regan having a big discussion. King Lear askes his daughters who loves him the most, whoever can put in words who loves him the most gets most of his lands, wealth and authority. While Goneril and Regan give lofty exaggerated words on their loves for their father, Cordelia remains silent. Cordelia refuses to answer the question, this shocks and angers King Lear since Cordelia is his favorite daughter. The king in his anger disowns Cordelia and sends her off to be married to the king of France without any dowry. He then divides his kingdom between the two daughters who flattered him, Goneril and Regan. I have taken the actual Myers Briggs Test through the career counseling center on campus, and it gave me a bit of direction in my life. However, I thought it would be more useful to discover the background on it and see how it functions within business. I think using an inventory can tell people a great deal about themselves. Any and all experiences in life involved two basic processes perception and interpretation. Perception is what we experience and interpretation is what we make of the experience (Goby Lewis, 2000). The typology was based off Carl Jung s beliefs, but was researched in the 1940 s and 1950 s. Following the end of World War II, the idea was picked up and worked on by Katherine C. Briggs, who had seen incompatible matches during the war between skills of individuals and the duties they were given. She wanted to find an instrument that could make it easier to select appropriate people for their respected jobs. Katherine Briggs daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, eventually joined her mother in her research (Goby Lewis, 2000). Extraversion vs. Introversion The first preference in the inventory is called Favorite World, this means where a person focuses their attention ( MBTI Basics n.d.). The two options are E or I, Extraversion or Introversion. Focusing attention on people and things or the outer world, is extraversion. Focusing attention on the ideas and information or one s inner world is introversion (Hammer, 2014). People who prefer extraversion usually put more effort into activities and the people surrounding them. The opposite of that is those who typically put more effort into themselves and prefer introversion ( Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) 2014). If a person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Church made everything they needed and were essentially isolated from the rest of the world. In Guyana, Jim was becoming less and less important every day.
