2. MAN’S ENSLAVEMENT
His nature conceived in sin
Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother
conceive me.
His will enslaved in sin
Romans 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for
we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under
sin
His nature corrupted by sin
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one

His understanding darkened by sin
Romans 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh
after God.
Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the
life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness
of their heart
God’s law demands he is guilty of sin
Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to
them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the
world may become guilty before God.
4. CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
Both physical and spiritual death
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death
by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
A place of eternal death
Romans 6:23 Â For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A place of no mercy
Luke 16:24 Â And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my
tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
5. CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
A place of torment
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and
idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which
burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
A place of everlasting punishment
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting
punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
6. GOD’S GREAT DESIRE
That none should perish
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.
That none should be condemned
John 3:17 Â For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.
John 5:24 Â Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
7. GOD’S GREAT DESIRE
That none should be condemned
John 8:11 Â She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I
condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
So God calls.
Genesis 3:9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art
thou?
God seeks him.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
God loves him.
1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent
his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
8. GOD’S SUPREME SACRIFICE
By dying on the cross, Jesus became our:
Sin-bearer
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on
the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Substitute
1 Peter 3:18 Â For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the
just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put
to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit
9. GOD’S SUPREME SACRIFICE
By dying on the cross, Jesus became our:
Sacrifice
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to
his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he
shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
10. GOD’S SUPREME SACRIFICE
By dying on the cross, Jesus became our:
Sin-Offering
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew
no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Redeemer
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law,
being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that
hangeth on a tree
11. RESULT OF GOD’S SACRIFICE
Man can now be:
Redeemed
Ephesians 1:7 Â In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace
Reconciled
Colossians 1:20 Â And, having made peace through the blood of
his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I
say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
12. RESULT OF GOD’S SACRIFICE
Man can now be:
Righteous
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made
sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made
righteous.
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own
righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through
the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith
13. RESULT OF GOD’S SACRIFICE
Man can now be:
Forgiven
Acts 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren,
that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of
sins:
Justified
Acts 13:39 Â And by him all that believe are justified from all
things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
14. NEW BIRTH: ONLY ENTRANCE INTO
GOD’S SPIRITUAL FAMILY
The lost are: BLIND and can not SEE
John 3:3 Â Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily,
I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the kingdom of God.
IGNORANT and can not UNDERSTAND
John 3:4 Â Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be
born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his
mother's womb, and be born?
15. NEW BIRTH: ONLY ENTRANCE INTO
GOD’S SPIRITUAL FAMILY
The lost are: HELPLESS and can not ENTER
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
SINFUL and first birth is REJECTED
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born
of the Spirit is spirit.
Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
DEPRAVED and new birth is a MUST
Acts 13:39 Â And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from
which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
16. THE SINNER’S RESPONSIBILITY
To Repent
Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now
commandeth all men every where to repent:
Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish.
Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
To Receive
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name
17. THE SINNER’S RESPONSIBILITY
To Believe
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting
life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;
but the wrath of God abideth on him.
To Confess
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
18. DEFINITE ASSURANCE GIVEN TO THOSE
WHO EXPERIENCE NEW BIRTH
Assurance of an inward witness
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we
are the children of God
Assurance given by the Holy Spirit
1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because
he hath given us of his Spirit.
Assurance is evident by new love for Christians
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life,
because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth
in death.
19. DEFINITE ASSURANCE GIVEN TO THOSE
WHO EXPERIENCE NEW BIRTH
Assurance is evident by new life
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is
a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.
Assurance, a result of believing
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that
believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know
that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the
name of the Son of God.
20. THE NEW CONVERT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
Be identified with the Lord in Baptism
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain
water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to
be baptized?
Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed
their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
21. THE NEW CONVERT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend the Lord’s house every Lord’s day
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Tell what great things the Lord has done
Mark 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him,
Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord
hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
22. THE NEW CONVERT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
Like Andrew, bring your next of kin
John 1:40 - 42 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was
Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and
saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the
Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said,
Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by
interpretation, A stone.
Diligently study to meet the new Master’s approval
2 Timothy 2:15 Â Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
