1. Siddhartha Essays
Crafting an essay on the theme of Siddhartha is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The subject
matter is deeply philosophical and delves into complex themes such as self-discovery,
enlightenment, and the human experience. Writing a comprehensive essay on Siddhartha requires
a profound understanding of the philosophical concepts presented in Hermann Hesse's novel and
the ability to articulate them coherently.
To begin with, one must meticulously analyze Siddhartha's journey, exploring the intricate stages
of his spiritual quest. This involves deciphering the symbolism embedded in the narrative,
understanding the significance of the river, and unraveling the layers of Siddhartha's interactions
with other characters. Additionally, delving into the cultural and historical context in which
Siddhartha unfolds is crucial for a nuanced interpretation.
Furthermore, tackling the philosophical underpinnings of Siddhartha's experiences requires a
deep engagement with Eastern philosophies, particularly Buddhism and Hinduism. Connecting
these principles to Siddhartha's evolution adds another layer of complexity to the essay. It
necessitates a careful balance between providing insightful interpretations and avoiding
oversimplification of intricate philosophical concepts.
Moreover, constructing a compelling thesis that encapsulates the essence of Siddhartha's journey
and its broader implications is no small feat. The essay should not only offer a profound analysis
of the protagonist but also provide a broader commentary on the human condition, spirituality,
and the pursuit of meaning.
In addition to the intellectual demands, there is the challenge of expressing these profound ideas
in a clear and eloquent manner. Striking the right balance between academic rigor and accessible
language is crucial to ensure the essay resonates with a diverse audience.
In conclusion, writing a Siddhartha essay requires a synthesis of literary analysis, philosophical
exploration, and eloquent expression. It demands a deep understanding of the novel's themes,
characters, and the cultural backdrop against which Siddhartha's journey unfolds. Despite its
difficulty, successfully navigating these complexities can lead to a rich and insightful exploration
of profound philosophical questions. For those seeking assistance, it's worth exploring platforms

2. Female Sexuality And Its Effects On Our Minds By Using...
Every day we are bombarded with dozens of advertisements. We are pitched
products, ideas, and even feelings. Companies manipulate our minds by using humor,
violence, and sexuality to sell. Often, we chose to ignore the constant distractions
shown to us on the television, newspapers, magazines, and giant billboards. Yet, the
subliminal messages still affect us, sometimes without us even noticing. Society has
normalized so many of these ideas that they are not seen as offensive, although they
should be. If we take more than a few seconds to look and snicker, we can truly
comprehend the issues we have been ignoring. Advertisers will go to almost any
length to convince consumers that their product is the best, something that is
necessary. Targeted advertisement is used to appeal to a certain group of consumers.
One of the most common and recognizable examples is the use of femalesexuality to
sell products aimed at men. Even products that aren t specifically maleoriented seem
to exploit the female body as a way to catch people s attention. In 2009 Arby s
released a magazine ad (Figure 1) displaying a pair of hamburgers, obviously
representing breasts, with female hands crossed over them. The text beneath the
photo reads We re about to reveal something you ll really drool over. . Admittedly,
the image does immediately catch a reader s attention. That is, of course, the purpose
of advertising. To seize interest, maybe even shock. Clearly this example is not
extreme, it s a
3. The Components Of Mass Communication
For many years now, the task of creating a more stable and reliable form of
communication for sharing information with people as well as with the world is
something that many people across the globe have studied, redesigned, improved, and
rebuilt. The spark of mass communication is all thanks to one man named Alexander
Graham Bell who invented the first telephone. Bell s invention of the telephone has
opened a multitude of opportunities that have extended the way we communicate in
the world today. Bell s invention went public on March 7, 1916, and many people
gathered to see a demonstration that would start a revolution of communication
beyond even Bell s imagination (A Rural Broadband...). That evenings demonstration
made clear that the telephone service was poised to revolutionize communications
and unite every part of the country... (A Rural Broadband...). Bell s invention was the
first reliable, and cost effective way for communication until just a few decades later
when someone decided to take Bell s invention to the next level and help to bring us
public Internet. Just like Bell, AT T is determined to create the world s first truly
reliable and cost effective Internet connection for rural areas by revisiting an old
concept that, at the time, was proved not reliable. I believe that we can help to cut
cost even more by creating a partnership between the FCC and the DOE (Department
of Energy). Using AT T s current plans, we can partner with other companies and
government
4. Surrogate Parenting, Research Paper
The traditional road to motherhood eluded Vicki Juditz. Having waited until age
36 to start trying for a baby, the actress and writer soon learned that reproductive
problems had reduced her chances of conceiving to about 1% (Zimmerman 1). In
the article written by Janet Zimmerman after her interview of actress Vicki Juditz,
Juditz explains, My husband and I had very full lives and I guess we didn t feel the
pressure, we thought everything would fall into place when we were ready. I just
assumed I would have children some day (Zimmerman 1). In vitro fertilization put
Juditz and her husband on the path to parenthood and their surrogate helped them to
get there. Their story is the subject of a play written and performed b Juditz and...

In such cases, a judgment of paternity is obtained, pre birth, to declare the intended
father as the biological father and legal father to the child. If the judgment is post
birth, the intended mother completes a step parent adoption in the county where the
intended parents reside. (Masserman, 1). Advantages appear to be numerous when it
comes to these judgments. First, parental rights of the surrogate and her husband are
terminated prior to birth. Second, the intended mother avoids the time consuming
stepparent adoption process. Finally, insurance issues and financial documents are
more easily processed. (Masserman, 2). The most important legal document is the
birth certificate. The original birth certificate is issued with the names of the intended
parents, with some pregnancy and other statistical information of the surrogate.
(Masserman, 2). The entire birth certificate file as well as the stepparent adoption

5. Money With Affiliate Marketing Online Essay
How to make money with affiliate marketing online is a topic that a lot of people
come to Stuart Ross with. Stuart is millionaire digital entrepreneur and co founder of
the Six Figure Mentors (SFM) and Digital Experts Academy (DEA), a Premier
Business and Entrepreneur Online Education Service and one of the fastest growing
exclusive private communities on the internet today.
People tend to approach Stuart with a question like this, Stuart, I m thinking of
getting started online. I want to live the internet lifestyle. I want to create my digital
empire, but I just don t know what sort of products to create? What they re saying is
that they ve been looking in the market place and can see there s a variety of
programs out there to make money with affiliate marketing online.
The question is usually, Can you recommend any of the programs out there? or
What types of products shall I be selling? The mistake people often make when they
first get started online is that they look for affiliate programs that have the highest
commission payouts or are quite low cost. The reason for this is that they think that
these are going to be the easiest products to sell because of their low cost.
They then go and sign up to any old affiliate program and go out and start trying to
make affiliate commissions. The problem with this is that so often people are not that
passionate or bothered about the products they are selling. I will tell you this straight

6. Was Captain Smith Responsible For The Titanic
Do you know who is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic? Well if you don t it
s a very important thing to learn because, this is part of our history. I believe
Captain Smith is responsible for this sinking in 1912 because, he was entirely
responsible for the control of the ships wheel. Although you may think Thomas
Andrews the designer of the Titanic Is responsible for the sinking, I believe Captain
Smith is responsible. I believe this because he ignored the seven iceberg warnings.
On a result of ignoring these seven warnings while the ocean was very calm, no one
spotted the iceberg, they hit but Smith didn t take caution. So it s Captain Smith s
fault! Captain Smith is responsible because, he never slowed the Titanic down. If
Smith would

A person s sexual identity may seem like something obvious, something that should
be an essential characteristic of our lives. However as we have found, these things
are not always so simple, often finding that our sexual identity, is ever changing
most of our lives. I have given my own identity some thought and I find for me it
wasn t easy. In this essay I will be discussing my own identity and my reasons for
coming to the conclusions that I have come to, and why I came to them (Rathus,

Some researchers state that genetics and environmental factors are important

to the sexual orientation of marriage partner. Being born in urban settings increased
the probability of homosexual marriage and decreased the probability of heterosexual
marriage. Everyone environment effects your sexuality in some way or another either
negative or positively by supporting or repressing it. It plays a role in whether your
homosexual, heterosexual, or bi sexual. (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2005) Our
text states that history places sexual attitudes and behavior in context. It informs us as
to whether sexual behavior reflects trends that have been with us through the
millennia or the customs of a particular culture and era. History shows little evidence
of universal sexual trends. Attitudes and behaviors vary extensively from one time
and place to another. (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2005)
As stated in our text, gender identity is our psychological awareness or sense of

self concepts. Gender identity is almost always consistent with chromosomal sex, but

Border Patrol Agent Jesus Mesa arrived on the scene and detained one of
Hernandez s friends at the U.S. border. Hernandez fled to the Mexican side of the
river and hid behind a pillar of a nearby bride. Mesa, while standing on the U.S side of
the border, shot and killed Sergio Hernandez. Six months after Hernandez s death,
Mesa was sued in Texas federal district court by Hernandez s parents. The suit claimed
Mesa violated the Fourth and Fifth amendments of the U.S. Constitution by using
deadly force. Mesa s defense moved to dismiss and argued that Hernandez lacked
constitutional protection because he was an illegal alien, standing in Mexico when
he was killed. The district court determined through a formalist test that the
Constitution s deadly force protection does not stretch across the border for non
citizens. Upon this decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit affirmed
in part and reversed in part and held that the Fifth Amendment protections against
deadly force applied but not the Fourth Amendment protections. Furthermore, the
court of appeals also held that Mesa was not eligible for qualified immunity.
According to ScotusBlog, the Supreme Court Justices are inclined to look at three
major questions when reviewing this case. (1) Whether a formalist or functionalist
analysis governs the extraterritorial application of the Fourth Amendment s
prohibition on unjustified deadly
10. Organizational Structure Of The Organization
Nowadays, with the rapid modernization of daily life and living standards increase
quickly, people s needs for quality of products and services therefore also increase.
For this reason, enterprises need to set up the structure and policies to suit the
changes of the market. One of the essential and most important factors to achieve that
is the organizational structure. Organizational structure theory is especially useful for
people who manage organizations, or who aspire to do so in the future. It enables the
manager to see that his or her organization and its problems are rarely wholly unique.
Usually, much of value can be learned from examining the behavior of other
organizations in broadly similar circumstances. Organizations,... Show more content

1. Definition:
An organizational structure is defined as the formal system of task and reporting
relationships that controls, coordinates and motivates employees so that they can
achieve an organization s goals . It consists of activities such as task allocation,
coordination and supervision, which are directed towards the achievement of
organizational aims. 2. The classification of organizational structure
a) Pyramidal structure:
Pyramidal structure (also called hierarchical or line structure) is one of the simplest
structures with one person or a group of people at the top and number of people
below them. All the people in the organization know who their superior and
immediate subordinates are. This kind of structure is suitable for small businesses
where there are few subordinates or organizations where there is largely of routine
nature and methods of operations are simple. Advantages

affects life under different theories and identifications. For example, social
psychology and multiculturalism work together to create the social change people
aspire to. However, social psychology, according to Jahoda (2016), cannot explain the
link between the social behaviorand the social norms of the society and culture.
Hence, social psychologycould be a challenge when a person tries other cultures.
Furthermore, there are ethical related issues with theories of psychology that aim at
creating positive social change wrapped by multiculturalism. Being an international

Cognitive Psychology focuses on cognitive aids psychologists use to deal with any
issue. It investigates all aspects of cognition memory, thinking, reasoning, language,
decision making, and so on (Baron Kalsher, 2008 p. 11). To solve a problem using
the cognitive aspect, psychologists need to explore people s attitudes, beliefs,
thoughts, perceptions, and storing and recalling information at certain times. For
example, as a social worker, I have different needy people to process their papers and
help them with monthly benefits; therefore, I have to make a judgment about them
based on the information sent to the brain to process. Cognitive Psychology includes
cognitive dissonance theory, which creates harmony among people. More
importantly, when people are under a dissonance behavior, they behave differently.
The function of Cognitive Psychology is reducing one s inner psychological pain
through investigating elements of discomfort. For instance, cognitive mapping helps
to create a scenario of what the brain is processing reflected by people s life.
When people interact and affect each other, they work within Social Psychology. For
example, if a problem arises in a certain organization, a team works together to get a
comprehensive understanding of the problem. Social Psychology studies our
attitudes, interpersonal relationships and intergroup interaction. Bandura (2006)

13. The Technology And Artificial Intelligence
What s the most advanced technology in the 21st century? The technology becomes
more similar like the human is the most advanced in the 21st century. Artificial
intelligence is one part of computer science involved with making computers behave
like humans. (Vangie Beal. 2015). Moreover, the Artificial Intelligence has scope
very widely. Artificial Intelligence covers a broad range of techniques, which can be
applied to a very wide range of application areas. (Russell, Stuart J.; Norvig Peter et
al.,2003). Also, evidence will focus on the knowledge acquisition, data mining,
computer vision and the search. An artificial intelligence system is intelligent not
only of banking and sharing data, but also of acquiring, representing, and
manipulating knowledge. (Buchanan. et al., 1983). Data mining is the process of
extracting non trivial and potentially useful information, or knowledge, from the
enormous data sets available in experimental sciences. (Ancell, R.et alпјЊ2004).
Computer vision is a different field, and its researchers have multifaceted concerns
and ambitions. (Tomasz Malisiewicz, 2011). Search plays a significant role in
solving many Artificial Intelligence (AI) problems. The search is a universal
problem solving mechanism in AI. (Robin et al., 2009). Knowledge Acquisition A
knowledge acquisition is utilized to acquire area information around an application
with the end goal of developing a specialist framework. Knowledge acquisition is the

15. How Does Shakespeare Use Cinematic Techniques In Romeo
And...
Romeo + Juliet is a modernised film of Romeo and Juliet, which was written by
William Shakespeare in the 1600 s. The director, Baz Luhrmann is the director the
film. He uses cinematic techniques to help make the old english that was used in
Shakespeare s times understandable and intriguing to a modern audience. Some of
the many techniques used are music, costumes, props, camera angles, lighting and
diegetic sound. The movie also has symbolism to convey the idea of Romeo and
Juliet s chaotic, star crossed love. The movie is set in a modern Verona Beach. Within
minutes, the opening prologue, from Shakespeare s play, hurls us into the intense
amount of rage between the two families this is what makes the beginning so
memorable for the audience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story of a young girl falling in love at first sight and be willing to die for her
love is a difficult concept for a modern audience to relate to. To enforce this idea,
the director had to make sure of a few things. The first being to make sure the
audience could easily accept that Romeo is a naive guy, hoping for love to come
his way. And secondly, Juliet being so innocent she could fall in love with Romeo
so easily. These ideas are portrayed in believable characteristics when we first see
Romeo and Juliet in the film. When Romeo makes his debut in the movie, he is
seen depressed. He is seen smoking a cigarette whilst writing poetry and glaring
aimlessly up, at a grey cloudy day. Both the cigarette and weather can be viewed a
type of symbolism in the movie. The camera shots zoom on Romeo s face,
showing the audience his melancholic facials which informs them about how he is
feeling. The director uses these types of shots throughout the movie to show the
raw emotional back story of the characters. For example, when the priest is told
that Romeo wants to marry Juliet, the camera zooms into to show his face which
is in awe and disbelief; informing the audience about how the character, the priest,
is feeling. In this instance for Romeo, these shots capture the impress of a young
lad who is lost and upset. Soon after this, Juliet is introduced as being a young girl
with an innocent personality. Her parents speak of her still being a stranger to the
world by saying She is still very young. This phrase informs the audience that she is
young, naive and can easily fall for any handsome guy that comes her way. Through
the movie this is done in many different ways, such as dialogue, symbolism and in
other scenes is done through the emphasis of the close ups. The director emphasises

16. The And New Zealand Media Essay
This essay will demonstrate how both American and New Zealand media outlets
shape and filter all their stories and decide what people see and think about, and how
to think about certain stories; also known as Agenda Setting .
New Zealand and America interpret news completely differently, what is important in
America may have zero relevance to New Zealand media and vis versa. Agenda
setting is more obvious in the New York times, they report on specific events to
endorse and highlight events or issues in an attempt persuade their audiences how
to think and feel about the stories. Whereas New Zealand news outlets have a less
hidden agenda, trying to remain unbiased in their reporting and changing the layout
and topics on their homepage continuously. This essay will be supported through
Severin Tankard s discussion of Media Framing in Effects of Mass Communication,
and also in Jim Macnamara s concept of agenda setting in Media Effects: A Review
of 50 years of Research, and lastly, M.E. McComb s theory of agenda setting in The
Agenda Setting function of Mass Media.
The New York times focused on current events of the Olympics and Donald Trump
with the presidential campaign, more serious and hard news. Whereas Stuff reported
on human interest stories and aimless national and international news. Example being
in the NY times, the two long main stories on both days are referring to the Olympics
and Michael Phelps. But Stuff only mentioned Phelps winning gold once with
17. The Reliability Of Eyewitness Testimony
There are many different factors that play a part in the increased chance of a witness
correctly identifying a suspect. Such factors should be brought to the attention of the
jury and the judge to help in properly assessing whether a witness is correctly
identifying a suspect. A study by Magnussen, Melinder, Stridbeck, Raja (2010) found
that of the three different types of people: judge, jury, and general public, that for the
most part all where fairly ill informed on the reliability of eyewitness testimony
with judges having the most. Judges only had about an 8% difference in knowledge
when compared to jurors. With this information it is very clear that education on the
reliability of eyewitness testimony needs to become more of a general knowledge
information for the everyone, especially people who are involved in upholding the
law. Another factor to look into when evaluating the accuracy eyewitness testimony
is the role that memory plays. Memory is divided into three processes: perceiving,
remembering, and recalling information (Simmonsen, 2013). There is plenty of
room in all three of those stages to forget or falsely remember something. Some
factors that play a part when a person perceives an event is the amount of time they
are exposed to the event and the suspect. A study conducted by Horry, Halford,
Brewer, Milne, Bull. (2014) found that witnesses were increasingly more likely to
correctly identify a suspect if they had been exposed to the suspect for sixty

a movie that plays, but rather, always be fascinated with the little details that no
one really notices. I ve always sat and wondered exactly how certain effects were
created. The curiosity as lead me to attempt to recreate some of the effects that I ve

makeup artists use to create prosthetics, I have become familiar with well known
makeup artists, and I have discovered certain replacements for the time consuming
processes that may occur during the creation phase. It s truly astonishing to see
what an artist can create from a piece of clay. The entire process starts with an idea.
Whether it be assigned be a company, or completely freelance work, everything that
has been seen on screen or in an attraction has started as a simple idea or sketch.
Once that assignment has been given, the work can then begin. In most cases, the

go through so many experiences in a lifetime to learn and grow up to be unique
individuals. Life is an indescribable experience, but why do some of us spend our
time living uneventful lives that keep us from attaining happiness? Emphasized by
a transition from black and white to color in both the novel The Giver and the film

the individuality of which they have been deprived providing the richness of the

All in Pleasantville seems to be perfect with no harm, hatred, pain, weather, or

No, David. Nobody s happy in a poodle skirt and a sweater set (Pleasantville

ignorance toward their very visible unsatisfactory black and white lives masked by
perfection. Again this community symbolizes the idea of a perfect utopia, but the
dehumanization of the citizens because of their lack of free will has a black and
white effect. Black and white can represent the simplicity of their lives, things are
either black or white as in one way or another, no questions
22. Defence Industrial Policy
It is only a matter of time before industrial suppliers loose investor support grow
weary of budget cuts. Resolving this gap with defense industrial policy will give a
safeguard to the industrial base by providing industrial suppliers the necessary
reassurance for their stakeholders. At the very least, suppliers require guidance to
re orient resources as priorities shift and programs are cut. It is yet to be seen if
this present pattern of business will insure a suitable industrial base in the future
without addressing this issue. A case in point, SecDef Hagels recently declared six
priorities for the Defense department include maintaining a lead in emerging
technologies, such as: space, cyber, special operations forces, intelligence,
surveillance and reconnaissance without pointing to any industrial guidance to
achieve these requirements. This leaves industrial suppliers gambling over which
programs to invest resources without the risk of being cut. For instance, Space
programs such as: GPS Positioning ($1.3 Billion) and Planned purchase of
extremely high frequency satellite programs ($652.5 million) do not have any order
of preference from the department. From the defense supplier s point of view,
without any preferences, allocating resources and investing in technology is
problematic. As publicly traded companies, defense suppliers are bound to
stakeholders, and must proceed with caution for projects at risk of being cut. The
lack of guidance only adds to their

Eyes are glued to the scenes of a human body pushed to the limit. Powers clashing by
the work of people who didn t back down to get to where they want. Sports has been a
culture for generations within America and has shaped how we think and act in our
daily lives. Strangers come together to watch and relate to one another which creates
a bond. Even the athletes that train as opponents respect each other and acknowledge
the efforts that each individual puts in to succeed. This culture creates hard working
individuals, breaks down glass ceilings, and brings Americans together. Glory comes
from the success of trials that each individual has gone through. Athletes who go
against the world as representatives of America goes through those trials. Sports
injuries cause about 2.6 million visits to the ER (Thiel). Pushing the limits of athletes
can be cruel and can restrain their minds. They go through the pain of being brought
down to become stronger than before. Difficulties include health risks like
overtraining, malnutrition, drug abuse, and playing while injured (Thiel). They push
away how they feel in that moment while they pursue their reason to become the best
at what they do. Americans look up to these athletes that achieve their goals because
people look to success. Admiration causes a positive chain reaction to be like the
American athletes who win. America takes pride in the majority of sports teams that
represent the country. Opinions do not matter when actions
25. Colors Of Deceit In The Great Gatsby Essay
Colors of Deceit in The Great Gatsby The novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, sends the message to Americans that outward appearances can be
deceptive. Fitzgerald saw that America had no identity and blamed it on Americans
because of everyone s constant effort to be seen as something that they are not. He
uses the characters and their past as a way to expose America s misleading
appearances and colors to emphasize the specific things that are being covered in
American society. Fitzgerald uses the colors white, gold, yellow, blue, and green, to
teach America that there is no such thing as an American identity because of
deceiving appearances that they have created. The color white is one of the clearest

However, Gatsby is not old money like Daisy, and does not see the difference
between him and her. Gatsby s bigger purchases like his car and his house are both
very flashy and ostentatious, which is not the way of old money. Gatsby s car is
bright yellow and makes a statement, unlike Tom, Daisy s husband s car, which is
blue. The fact that Gatsby s car is yellow also proves that he does not see the
difference between old money and new money. Gold and it s display is one of the
strongest differences between old money and new money that creates the division
of classiness and flashiness. Clearly, Gatsby misinterprets the meaning of the color
yellow and equivalates it with gold, which leads him to lie he is old money when
in fact he is new money. The color blue is another clear example of the theme of
deceptive appearances. The color blue represents depression, unhappiness, and
loneliness. Gatsby s first piece of wealth is a blue coat given to him by Dan Cody,
signifying the beginning of his life as a rich person. In addition, Gatsby s blue
lawn, and blue garden, where he hosts his extravagant parties reveals his sadness
and loneliness everytime Daisy does not show. All of this blue represents an aspect
of Gatsby s personality and identity that he tries to hide. Gatsby is known by the
public because of his extravagant parties even though he does not attend them.
Because of this, everyone speculates on the real identity of Gatsby. Gatsby has

27. The Rhetorical Analysis Of Ich Bin-Bin Ein Berliner
In 1963, the government of East Germany erected the Berlin Wall to stop
emigration from East Germany into West Germany. In response to the wall s
erection, JFK delivered a speech in West Berlin, right next to the wall. In his famous
Ich bin ein Berliner speech, JFK effectively employs various rhetorical strategies in
order to motivate the people of West Berlinand the world to take a stand against the
evils of communism, with the wall being a manifestation of this evil. He utilizes
juxtaposition, anaphora, and parallel structure to further his purpose. In doing so,
he also effectively sends a message to the USSR that the Western world will not let
democracy perish anywhere, and will stand up for all free peoples in the world. In
his speech, Kennedy uses the rhetorical device of parallel structure to emphasize
the strength and positive attributes of West Germany and their democratic political
system. Towards the beginning of his speech, Kennedy states, Two thousand years
ago, the proudest boast was civis Romanus sum . The phrase civis Romanus sum
is latin for I am a Roman citizen , and was used as a rallying cry for the legal rights
of Roman citizens. Rome was seen as the pinnacle of power, but also the pinnacle
of legal rights for the citizens of its republic. In literature especially, the Roman
political and legal ideals are regarded in very positive terms, and a comparison evokes
ideas of republicanism, justice, fraternity, and equality. In the next sentence,
28. The Consequence Of Events In An Earthquake
Questions I want to ask:
What is an earthquake?
The sequence of events in an earthquake.
What are the effects earthquakes have on land and people? What is an Earthquake?
An earthquake is when the ground violently shakes causing damage and harm to
objects, people and infrastructure around it. An earthquake occurs because our earth
s crust is divided into big sections called tectonic plates. The gaps separating
different plates are called fault lines and plate boundaries and this is where
earthquakes are more likely to occur as well as existing plate fractures. A convergent
plate boundary often creates earthquakes. During the converging, two plates move
towards each other until they collide. When an oceanic plate and a continental plate
collide with each other they create a subduction zone. This is because the thinner,
dense oceanic plate is over ruled by the continental plate so it slides underneath and
creates subduction. This means that a deep sea trench appears near shore and a
mountain range can begin to form due to the earth being pushed backwards and
building up.
An example of subduction between continental and oceanic crust.
When two oceanic plates collide a similar thing happens. The older plate will
subduct to create a trench of deeper water. The plate begins to melt as it lowers
further into the higher temperature. This leads to magma craters which can
eventually find their way to surface and appear as a volcanic cone. This plate
boundary tends to ignite deeper

Geostatistical Interpolation for Spatial Data
Abstract: Continuous surfaces of rainfall climate variable are becoming increasingly
used as input to spatially explicit atmospheric ,hydrologic ,ecologic and
environmental models. Several methodologies exist for spatial interpolation of
climate and weather parameters, among them is the ordinary kriging method .A large
sampling effort is required to produce an accurate geostatistical map, and the
extraction and analysis of each sample is often expensive, The effectiveness of a
particular sampling scheme is dependent upon the spatial variability of the quantity
being measured .In this paper ,we used the ordinary kriging method to estimate the
rainfall distribution in Iraq. A total of 24 real points are used for evaluation. The
results presents samples of maps for months January, October, March for years 2004,

32. Knowledge Of Violence Against Women
Knowledge of violence against women has increased in recent decades. However,
the legal system has not yet caught up. The rigid definition of what constitutes self
defense has led to the conviction of many battered women who kill their partners.
Through a legal and psychological lens many have examined this phenomenon,
delving deeper than the superficial and one dimensional definitions set by the courts.
There is a difference between what is considered situational intimate couple violence,
and instances of battered women syndrome. The key characteristic of battering is the
longevity of the abuse. Due to its time frame, a battering relationship follows a cycle
of violence that recurs over and over, (Walker, 1979). This is contrasted... Show more

Because this definition is so strict, and the experiences, motives, and events in the
lives of battered women are so subjective and unique, it is easy to understand how
there arise legal complications if and when these cases make it to court.
Additionally, it has been argued that the majority of battered woman who kill their
abusers do so in psychological self defense, which should be taken just as seriously
despite its altered definition. The current understanding of self defense in our justice
system equates the self with the physical body, and thus self defense can only be
seen as preventing harm to this physical self. But much of the self that is being
defended by these battered women is psychological. This psychological self refers to
both the physical and the mental being and thus includes such recognized and
socially valued psychological attributes as security, autonomy, identity, consciousness,
and spirituality, (Ewing, 1990, 586). Injuring the psychological parts of the self is
just as harmful and abusive as the physical, and thus this definition has a rightful
place in the legal jargon that deals with battered women. But not all battered women
end up killing her abuser. It is a relatively small percentage that does, but the
similarities between those who kill their abusers paint a comprehensive picture.
However, it is imperative to understand the psychological reasoning behind a battered
woman who

Euthanasia The thin line between life and death has become an ethical issue many
health care providers and the government have long tried to ignore. The
understanding that life begins at birth, and ends when the heartbeat and breathing
have ceased has long been deemed factual. Medical technologies have changed this
with respirators, artificial defibrillators, and transplants (Macionis, 2009). Thus
medical and legal experts in the United States define death as an irreversible state
involving no response to stimulation, no movement or breathing, no reflexes, and no
indication of brain activity (Macionis, 2009, p. 436). The process of deciding when a
terminally ill patient should die lies within the patient, family members, and the...

Over the course of the past fifty years there have been many cinematic productions
of Shakespeare s Hamlet, some of which remain true to the text while others take
greater liberties from the original format. Director Kenneth Branagh s 1996
production of Hamlet was true to Shakespeare s work in that the films dialogue was
delivered word or word as it is presented in the text. In contrast, Franco Zeffirelli
conducted his 1990 production of Hamletin a much more liberal direction in which
lines, scenes and characters were omitted from film. I argue that from the perspective
of an individual with moderate knowledge in Shakespearian literature, that the best
film versions of Hamletare those that take the most liberties from the text. I concur
that the following elements reflect the level of liberty taken in regards to the text and
that these elements determine which film is the best; changes to dialogue, changes to
plot, presence of theme portrayal of emotions and the setting.
In 1996 Kenneth Branagh starred as Hamlet in his self directed version of the play.
Branagh s script for the film was fiercely loyal to Shakespeare s original words
which resulted in a four hour cinematic experience. The immense amount of
dialogue was delivered rapidly and added a layer of complexity which effected the
audience s ability to analyze and comprehend the story line. A lack of understanding
is problematic as it contributes to a loss of character development as well as
confusion within the

HPLC Analysis of Capsaicin Eric Sorenson Work Completed on 11/28/12
Quantitative analysis of Capsaicin was analyzed in three peppers that were
expected to differ greatly in their capsaicin content and thus their relative spiciness.
The idea was to have a nice range of capsaicin concentrations to clearly reflect the
subjective pain one experiences from biting into a chili. Fresh Habanero, Jalapeno
and Red Bell Pepper were purchased from the local Family Fresh grocery store to be
analyzed via HPLC. This capsaicin project consisted of three stages to ensure
proper and accurate analysis. The first stage was the preparation of the three

The desirability of a pediatric doctor exceeds that of most other jobs. A
pediatrician, along with it s comfortable pay and child accompaniment, includes a
personal relationship with children and families. However, the job bolstered a few
weaknesses. The strengths of a pediatrician maintain the desirable factor that attracts
so many. Infused with so many positive aspects, the job ensures happiness and
comfort to those with the honor of working it. For example, a close personal
relationship is built from birth. A pediatrician cares and supports for a child for the
first 21 years of his or her life, building an intimate bond. Having such a close
relationship with patients contributes to the desirability and uniqueness of this
wonderful job.
39. Sigmund Freud And Psychosexual Development
Sigmund Freud is a well known psychologist who discovered the branch of
psychology called psychoanalysis, this branch focuses on treating mental
disorders by recognizing the relationships between the conscious mind and the
unconscious mind (Cobarrubias). Freud went on to develop a well respected
structure of personality including one s id, superego, and ego. A person s id must
be controlled to satisfy their social needs while the superego and ego direct the
control and gratification into a social environment (MacLeod). These three major
personality elements lead to Freud s famous development of the Psychosexual
stages. In 1905, Freud proposed that psychological development in children takes
place in a series of five Freudian stages consisting of oral, anal, phallic, latency, and
genital (MacLeod). These stages can be recalled by creating a mnemonic for the
subject like, Old Age People Love Grapes . Each of these stages present a conflict
that the child must resolve before progressing to the next stages (Macleod). Some of
the stage conflicts might require extra time and effort to overcome, possibility
leading to fixations. My brother has been displaying a smoking behavior for quite
some time, leading me to believe he might of had a fixation during his oral stage of
psychosexual development. I believe his fixation came from his oral stage of life
because that is when the child is first exposed to feeding and sucking on basically
anything an infant can get a hold of.

From the time period of 1000 1750 C.E, Islam had a tremendous culture, economic,

impact of Islam in Europe shows the architecture, religious, and the combination of
economic and political change. During the high middle ages, western European
learned about Aristotle thought and received latin translation from both Byzantine

science, astronomy, the Arabic numeral, and techniques of paper production. During
the 13th century Ibn Rushd, a Qadi of Seville work influenced the development of
scholasticism and the European philosopher to harmonize Christianity with Aristotle
thoughts. Muslim scholar during the reconquest of Sicily, introduced Arabic
translation of Aristotle, which inspired the scholastic philosopher. The Reconquista

Failure to manage a payroll effectively may cause many problems for the company
and its employees. It could mean loss of money, integrity, and trust between both
parties.
Oftentimes, it takes many hours of work and manpower to get the job done. In
certain cases, effective payroll management is compromised by the lack of an
effective system. Most companies may have enough manpower and resources.
However, with an effective information technology, managing a payroll will be
simpler, cost effective, timely and reliable.
One of the companies that use manual payroll system is the Arias Garments. It was
established last September 18, 1994 at #88 Bargy. Latag, Lipa City, under the
management of Mr. Alex Arias together with his wife Mrs. Anita Carol Katigbak. It
started with only forty machines and ten employees. The capital of Arias Garments is
Php 500,000.00. By 1996, Arias Garments became the subcontractor of Champan
Garments. Champan Garments produce and transport products like Gap, Banana
Republic, Old Navy, Tommy, and Hilfinger.
As of now, Arias Garments have 176 machines and 100 employees (40 regular and
60 contractual). 8:00AM is the time in of employees, 4:00PM is the time out, and
they consider 8:15AM as late. Employees who are late or either log out earlier than

attitude of most white males in South Africa during the 1950 s. During this time,
the national party gained power and they established the apartheid system.
Apartheid is a system of policies that enforced racial segregation upon non white
South africans. Early in the book, Fugard clearly shows the father and son
relationship between Sam and Hally, because Hally s real dad was not around.
Hally s real father represents the apartheid system and he believes that white people
should use the power to control non white people. Fugard shows how the apartheid
system of white privilege and power along with Hally s powerlessness with his father

Hally feels powerless around his real father because he represents the oppression
of the apartheid system. Hally s biological father is an alcoholic, racist, controlling
and power hungry white man, which is why he was not in Hally s life. In fact,
Hally s real father got so drunk at a bar that Sam ... loaded him onto [his] back like
a baby and carried him , while Hally was watching (58). This shows that Hally s
biological father is an unfit parent. Hally is ashamed and embarrassed of his father
and he feels powerless around him. Yet, Hally is afraid to tell his father the truth
regarding how he feels about him as well as his beliefs. Hally s father was not
present in most of Hally s childhood because he is an alcoholic, therefore they never
had a strong relationship. In addition, Hally s father believes that white people are
superior and he is disrespectful toward non white South Africans. For instance,
Hally tells Sam that his father is always telling Hally to ...teach the boys to show
[him] more respect . Hally is scared to stand up to his father and instead of telling
him how he truly feels about taking advantage of his white privileges, he keeps
quiet. In conclusion, Hally feels powerless when his real dad is in the picture
because he represents discrimination and the apartheid system. As the play
progresses and Hally realizes his father may be coming home, Hally starts to
disrespect Sam and

45. Quality Issues in Project Management
QUALITY ISSUES IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
1.Introduction
There are a number of issues surrounding the general area of quality in project
management. You will need to be aware of some of the requirements of PRINCE (or
PRINCE2) as well as the more general aspects of the ISO 9000 and 14000 series.
2.Quality requirements as part of PRINCE
PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) was revised from PRINCE in
1996 and is the accepted standard for the control of projects in the computing area
of the public sector. It is also widely used outside this sector as a way of formalising
project control procedures.
It lays down 8 key processes concerning (content generally obvious):
1. Directing of the project.
2. Planning of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We should also be aware of the ISO 14000 which covers legislative requirements with
respect to environmental impacts. This is relevant, in parts, to projects and their
impacts.
4. The Prince2 Quality Plan/Manual:
The quality plan needs to cover in detail several key aspects of project control:
How quality criteria will be set?
What measures are to be taken to prevent the occurrence of faults or variances?
What will be done to detect and correct any faults/variances that do occur?
What tests/procedures will be used to demonstrate that quality criteria are being met?
What review and follow up procedures will be used?
Who will perform the quality control work?
What documentation will be produced by the process?
5. The Prince2 Quality Review and Log:
This might be the most important part of quality control in your PRINCE2 project.
The aim is to find any errors, deviations from standards or omissions in the task or
stage once it is claimed to be finished or at any other agreed point.
It is a face to face meeting (of no more than two hours) which should allow early
error or variance trapping. It consists of preparation, review and follow up procedures.
A quality log is kept of all invitations, attendees, results, corrective actions and sign
46. offs. This log can then be inspected as an audit trail by the user/stakeholder/client or
by any independent quality assurance agency in event of any disputes.

47. The Inexact Science of Climatology
Climatology is an inexact science to say the least. The only undisputed facts are:
there are gases that are transparent to ultraviolet light but absorb infrared radiation,
creating the greenhouse effect , and human activity has caused the accumulation
of greenhouse gasses to increase across the world (McKibben Wilcoxen, 2002).
The application of microeconomic principles can be used to address some of the
fallout of the climate change caused by the greenhouse effect. In this paper we will
take a look at three such measures and what their application can mean to the
industry. The same way that there are various uncertain factors when accounting
for climate change (clouds, ocean temperature, aerosols effect, etc.), there are
various microeconomic principles that can be applied to help reduce emissions,
with equally diverse results. One of the most limiting forms of creating clean
emissions standards is a renewable portfolio standard (RPS) limited to renewable
technology (Paul, Palmer Woerman, 2011). This is restrictive because of an unfair
distribution of credits dependent upon which technology the RPS is being applied
to. For example, an RPS that treats all renewables equally would highly encourage
the low cost renewables like bio mass and wind, while high cost renewables like
solar would not be promoted as fairly (Paul, Palmer Woerman). Some states help
address this disproportion allotment with carve outs or portions of the RPS that
addresses separate renewables
48. Violating Cultural Norms
It was really difficult for me initially to select a norm I wanted to violate. I just
couldn t come up with anything even after hearing examples in class. And naturally, I
hate being the center of attention or doing anything that will get me noticed, but I
knew that I ll have to get over that to be able to complete this assignment. What is a
norm? According to sociology.about.com, a norm is the specific cultural
expectations for how to behave in a given situation. Norms vary across countries or
cultural groups. For example, in our society giving a thumbs up is just a gesture
that signifies approval or satisfaction but if I was to give the same gesture in the
Middle East, I would probably get dirty looks because it is considered offensive there.

I chose this because I believe that the way we choose to dress or style ourselves is a
reflection of who we are. People use fashion as a tool or medium to express who they
are, it might be motivated by religion, culture, location, demographic factors like
ethnicity, or even political stance. In our society today, we have the freedom to
dress however that pleases us. But, there are some ways of dressing that are not
considered normal or appropriate especially depending on the season, time of year, or
the occasion. The way we choose to dress influences how others perceive us. For
instance, if an individual wears a suit, people see him/her as a successful person or a
professional because suit is a part of the professional world or as some people say, a
suit is the uniform of success. For my norm violation, I went to a gathering filled
with family and friends in summer clothes last weekend. I told only my brother that
it was for a class I was taking. I had my coat and sweat pants in the car to wear
afterwards so that I didn t get sick. I remember before I left the house, my mother
pleaded with me to cover up more but I refused. I told her I was okay with the way I
was dressed. She tried to get me to change but I did not listen, I insisted on going to
the gathering the way I was dressed. I could already imagine the reactions of people
even before I did it. I believed people were definitely going to stare at me, some might
laugh at me, some might feel worried for me, and others might just have a look of
shock or disbelief on their
49. The Acceptance Of John Lennon s Life
John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, Merseyside, NW England,
UK, during a German air raid in World War II. His father was not present at Lennon
s birth and was not very present during his infant and toddler years.
(www.lifetimetv.co.uk) The absence of his father may have had an influence on him
based on the idea that father absence has an impact on the health and well being of
children and may have an impact that reaches much further than adolescence. Father
absence appears to contribute significantly to life adversity factors, including
maladaptive behavior, poor academic achievement, low self identity and risk
behaviour, including early sexual relations and drug use, (East O Brien, 2006). Later
on in this psychobiography,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(www.lifetimetv.co.uk) According to the textbook, Lennon most likely had good
interpersonal skills or social skills, such as managing diverse groups of people,
because he was able to form a band with other people. Later that summer, he would
meet Paul McCartney at a church party where he would invite McCartney to join the
band. They would later be known as one of the most successful songwriting partners
in music history. (www.lifetimetv.co.uk) This success stems from Gardner s theory of
multiple intelligences. Gardner claimed that there are eight different intelligences in
his theory of multiple intelligences...: linguistic, spatial, bodily/kinesthetic,
intrapersonal, logical/mathematical, musical, interpersonal, and naturalistic, (Tanner
et al., 2015, p. 223). Lennon had musical intelligence or musical skills, such as
singing or playing a musical
50. Reasearch on the Brain Functions of Autistic Children
In the late 1990 s, researchers from the University of California, San Diego wanted to
know if there was connection between mirror neurons and autism.1 They
hypothesized that since these neurons play a role in a person s ability to feel
empathy, they found it sensible to think it might be the cause of autistic symptoms.1
Autismis a disorder found among children where areas of the brainfail to work thus
makes it difficult for individuals to communicate.4
A researcher, Giacomo Rizzolatti at the University of Parma Italy, conducted a study
in the 1990 s studying Macacas. His group studied the motor command neuron from
the premotor cortex. The neuron is part of the frontal lobe that is responsible for
voluntary movements. Electrodes were hooked up to the brain and the macacas had
to perform goal oriented actions.1 When a macaca reached for a peanut, the same
exact neuron from another monkey observing them was fired also. This action
surprised Giacomo and his colleagues. They found out the neuron is also found in the
same regions as the human cortex1. Further research of the mirror neurons were
shown to be located in different parts of the brain such as the insular and cingulate
cortices. They found out that the neurons at the anterior cingulate cortex are fired
when a person is in pain and the same goes for the person who watches them1. It was
concluded that mirror neurons are seen to be performing similar functions that is
found in autism meaning that if there was a
51. Mesoamerica Domestication
Mesoamerica served as one New World cradle for plant domestication. Because of
the abundance of data gathered from the semi arid highlands of Mexico due to the
preservation of macrofossils in dry caves, a hypothesis was formed that stated the
highland region was the center of domestication in Mesoamerica (Pope et al.
2001:1370 1373). Compared to the highlands, not much was known about the role the
lowlands of Mesoamericaplayed in plant domestication. This was because the humid
conditions of the tropical areas of Mesoamerica often led to poor plant preservation.

built on earlier research, combining data from sediment cores with data from adjacent

Larger grains the size of 70 Вµm first appeared 5,000 years B.C. and were common
4,000 years B.C. The size and axis/pore ratio had decreased in size to a size now
typical of domesticated maize. It is important to note that the Zea found in San
Andres were not native to the coastal Tabasco area and was an exotic species that
was introduced to and cultivated by farmers. The appearance of this maize coincides
with forest clearing in this area, probably for the purposes of agriculture, which was
evidenced by charcoal. The settlement here was linked to the beach ridge and the
lagoon which was attractive to maize farmers. Small Zea pollen disappeared after
2,500 years B.C. and around the same time, domesticated sunflowers appeared. The
first sunflower seed found dates back to 2,667 calendar years. B.C., and the first
sunflower fruit dates back to 2,548 calendar year B.C. The earliest date on maize in
Mexico is 4,300 calendar year B.C. which meant that domestication had to have
happened before 4,000 calendar year B.C. This early appearance of maize supports
the supposed origin of agriculture in the New World in a humid, tropical setting and
for early exchanges between Mesoamerica, and Central and South

the connection that happends between a mother and child its so amazing. In my
textbook called Lifespan Development 7th edition it says that breast fed babies are
nutritionally superior, they have more rapid weight gain, and most children get early
health benefits from their mothers breast milk. Breastfeedingshould not be

54. Tsarism In Afghanistan
The land that comprises today s Afghanistan was the frontier zone of competing
empires, namely, Moghuls and Saffavids from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries.
Persia and the subcontinent enjoyed two centuries of stability and prosperity, but
their frontier zone (Afghanistan) was a bone of contention. With the downfall of the
Moghul and Saffavid Empires, Afghanistanbecame a torn political entity between
Sikh Empire, Persia and the Emirate of Bukhara in the early nineteenth century.
Afghanistan, then became the buffer zone between Tsarist Russiaand British India
with the fall of the Sikh Empire in 1845. Tsarist Russia constantly intervened in
Afghanistan while British India continually meddled in Afghanistan to keep it under
its orbit.
