PowerPoint presentations can positively impact student learning when used effectively but can also cause issues if overused or not designed well. A study assessed the effects of PowerPoint-assisted teaching on 120 students and found that it generally held students' attention, improved classroom behavior and participation, helped organize lessons and clarify complex topics, and better allowed students to recall lessons for exams. However, slides must be kept concise with 5-15 slides per session using 1-3 bullet points each. Font, backgrounds, and visual elements like graphs and pictures should also be carefully selected to create effective PowerPoint slides.
