Sedimentary Rock Evolution
Analyzing the change in species over time utilizes the support from many disciplines of science
in order to come to the most plausible explanation of said change. Geology more specifically, the
fossil record is one such discipline that elicits profound insight on speciation. The fossil record is
best described as life s evolutionary story as it clearly shows sequential change in organisms
throughout time by providing a starting point and in many cases transitional fossils as benchmarks
for comparison. Sedimentary rock is crucial to this process as it is what cements organisms in time
at their time of death. Sedimentary rock is common on Earth and formed by the weathering of
older rocks. As this weathering occurs organisms that have died are buried in the sediments
produced and preserved as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These fossils can range from footprints left by an organism or skeletal structures such as the pelvic
girdle of a fish. Fossils allow scientists to expound on the evolutionary history of an organism by
providing features to follow throughout time. Scientists have pieced together the evolution of flight
in birds and the structures needed to accomplish this task by documenting changes that took place
in the forelimbs, clavicle, and pelvis from current birds back to their pre winged ancestors.
Additionally, the evolution of paired appendages and subsequent loss in some vertebrates has been
well documented in the fossil record and specifically the stickleback. After the recession of the
glaciers, populations of stickleback were scattered in isolated lakes throughout the northern
hemisphere. Fish in lakes with no predation lost their pelvic spines since there was no evolutionary
advantage to maintain them. By analyzing the fossils of stickleback scientists were able to see this
change occurred over the span of

Tyrannicide Is The Killing Of A Tyrant By Usurpation
Tyrannicide is the killing of a tyrant. Usually killed for the common good. The English noun tyrant
derives from Latin tyrannus, meaning illegitimate ruler . The term Tryannicides describes those
who kill tyrants. Tyrants can be classified in two categories usurpation and oppression. A tyrant by
usurpation is when a tyranttries to take down a higher ruler. In other words, a tyrant by usurpation
is a traitor. These types of tyrants may be put straight to death by legitimate authority. If a usurper
already established his rule and is living peacefully with his reigns, until a certain period, the
legitimate ruler can expel him by force. The ruler can kill him for his offence. However under
different circumstances, if the legitimate ruler

What Role Should Illegal Drugs
What role should illegal drugs have in the future of medicine?
In the UK drugs legislation classified 5 schedules in which substances must be categorised. The
Schedule 1 groups the substances that are considered of no therapeutic value, thus they are
determinate illegal. It is not possible to buy or own those substances and the use of them in
research may be authorised only with a Home Office licence. Although this legislation might
discourage the research on illegal drug for therapeutic purpose, recent studies suggest that magic
mushrooms, LSD and MDMA could help with mental and physical pathologies. This essay will
briefly describe how substances operate in the body. In addition, there will be an investigation on
the use of illegal drugs for therapeutic purpose.
According to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, it is considered a drug any natural or chemical
substance that has the property of affecting the structure or function of the body. However, this
definition do not include food. Drugs can be administrated by injection, orally, inhaled,
insufflations, rectally or topically. After the drug has been administrated it is absorbed by the
body and directed to the blood stream. The timing of this process will depend on the drug itself
and the method of administration that has been used. From here the molecules derived from the
drug are absorbed by the cells, where chemical reactions occur. When the molecules have been
discharged from the cell, they are taken back in the

Metamorphosis By Kafka
When I was younger my fear for insects was nonexistent. Growing up I didn t see many insects
till I moved to the East Coast. Some of the insects I came across was beautiful, for example at
night fireflies would light up, and that fascinated me. Other insects such as flying ants and
roaches made me no longer enjoy the idea of insects as once before. In today s American society
it s common that people deveolped their own perceptions about insects. In Kafka s
Metamorphosis, the story explained how Gregor s family didn t accept his transition. Gregor was
practically disowned and treated differently. His family viewed him as disgusting. Therefore,Gregor
s experience directly correlates with how people today view insects now. Americans tend to perceive

Mustang Compare And Contrast
The cars we drive say a lot about us. Alexandra Paul Transportation is a large concern in todays
modern world. Most individuals have opted to buy vehicles for their personal use. Most of these
vehicles consume gasoline and a smaller proportion is hybrid based. These two types of vehicles
have many similarities. both types of vehicles provide an important function to society. That
function is to provide people with a reliable form of transportation. Although these two types of
vehicles have many similarities, their differences are what distinguish them. Dealerships have one

car is also only two doors which means not that many people fit inside. The Jetta ad doesn t
exactly show a car, it shows a model of a sand car with a boy and girl playing in the back seat and
a woman in the front seat relaxing getting a tan. This ad shows that this is a family car because
of the two kids playing in the back seat, portraying that kids will be safe while the parents drive

Human Beings Possess A Distinct Consciousness
Feuerbach first says that since human beings have religion and animals don t, there must be
something that human beings possess that essentially differentiates them from animals. Human
beings possess a distinctive consciousness which he calls species consciousness that animals don t
possess. In other words, a man that possesses a species consciousness he is capable to take its own
essential nature as an object of thought. In addition, the humanindividual has the capacity of thought
which means that he can engage himself in an internal dialogue and thus the human individual
stands a relation to his species. When a human being is conscious of himself as a human, he is also
conscious that he is a being that is able to feel, to think and to will. In other words, the three mental
faculties that Feuebarch identifies as crucial in the development of Christian consciousness are
reason, will and affection. Furthermore, reason, will and affection are absolute perfections of the
human. However, they are not powers that human beings possess, they are rather constituent
elements of his nature . For example, those constituent of the human beings manifest themselves
when an individual is moved by the emotions expressed by music; when an individual feels the
desire to gain knowledge; when the conscience of an individual dictates him to moderate his
desires in order to avoid limiting other s freedom.
Moreover, the human individual recognizes himself as an intellectually, morally,

5 weirdest moments of Goldust s career
Every time a list of bizarre characters who have stepped inside a wrestling ring for any

1995, Goldust debuted as a heel character that played mind games with his adversaries using his
sexually suggestive antics. He used to make coquette and indecent advances towards his
opponents during the matches. Goldust portrayed a character that was a drag queen. He always
wore a golden jump suit and face paint with little splashes of other colours on the jumpsuit and a
golden wig. In those days WWF was pushing the envelope with a risquГ© product and the Goldust

1. Goldust s bondage gimmicks
Goldust was a character that was known for his quirky attires throughout his career. In the late
1997, Goldust was paired with an equally crazy valet, Luna Vachon. Though this pairing did not
last for a very long time, it will be known for a lascivious gimmick.
During this short period, Luna brought Goldust to the ring with a chain around his neck and gag
ball in his mouth. Goldust had ditched his golden outfit for a green one. The new outfit even had
silver spikes covering his nipples.
This was a ludicrous act and was not even entertaining. Thank God that the angle was not continued
and is not mentioned on TV as it was the freakiest moment of the Bizarre One s career.
Goldust is one of those characters who had thrived in the Pre PG era. You can still trust him with
sneaking up on people at the most unsuspecting places. He will surely be a WWE Hall of Famer
when he retires, but, will continue to entertain the fans with his spooky character till

Essay On Writing A Spell
Writing Your Own Spells
There are no fixed rules on how to create spells and what one individual considers right may not
work as well for others. It may possibly take some time experimenting and practicing to discover
what works best for you, particularly if you do not possess very much skill with spell work.
Successfully accomplishing a spell is a skill that comes in relation to practice. The better you are at
performing with magickal energy, the better your results will be. The more you know the spell, the
more effective it will be.
Your intent
When you re going to cast a spell you need to be mentally fixed on what you desire to occur. You

Therefore, the tools you use in fact matter. If you do not use any type of tool, you may have a less
chance of your spells working.
So, what items do you need? Every herb, color, gemstone has its own properties. For example, if
you were doing a spell for money, you would use herbs such Basil, Cinnamon, Clove or Patchouli.
The oils could be Cedar, Clove, or Patchouli. Citrine, Green Aventurine or Jade would be your
gemstones. Of course the color green. As in green for money. Green candles, green sachet. Perform
on a Thursday or Sunday. For protection, try Aloe, Basil, and Garlic. Amber, Garnet, Turquoise.
Colors blue, white on a Thursday
Choosing your words
Writing your own spell is not difficult. It helps you to not only distinguish your spell, but to
focus on it. Do you know what words you will use? Do you plan to chant? Will it be vocalized
during your spell or murmured under your breath? Are you going to recite something ceremonial
and authoritative, calling upon the Gods/Goddesses for support? Perhaps it will be the type where
you simply meditate on. Keep in mind, there is power in your words, so choose them wisely.
Timing
Your spells are usually worked on the day or days where it would be more effective. For example,
for divination and healing magick, Monday would be the day to perform. Sunday, using the energy
of the sun would be the best time for healing and success, to obtain goals.
The time of the day for spells will also play a

Sociological Conflict Theory
Divorce rates are growing higher and higher every year. I will compare the sociological conflict
theory and symbolic interaction theory on the social issue of rising divorce rates. I will show how
symbolic interaction can contribute to divorce because people will lack the direct response to the
actions of other people. I will also show how the conflict theory interprets the high tensions in a
marriagea result from the sociological and economic pressures we face in life.
Although divorce was looked down in the past it is becoming a part of modern life. In the 1950′s
the divorce rate in the United States was around fourteen percent. The divorce rate in the U.S.
has slowly risen to the point that many researchers now claim the overall rate of divorces has
reached fifty percent. ( The Rising Rate of Divorce , 2016). Now that divorce is so common
many people have different outlooks on it. Some say divorce is abandoning adult responsibility
and others think it s a way to free themselves from a miserable and unfulfilling life.
Symbolic interactionism a theoretical perspective in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The symbolic interaction theory is microsociological and examines smaller patterns of social
interaction. This theory focuses on everyday face to face contact and how people perceive
different symbols. The symbolic interaction theory can contribute to divorce because people will
lack the direct response to actions of other people by interpreting symbols differently. The other
theory I examined was the conflict theory. The conflict theory is from the macrosociological level
and examines larger patterns of society. This theory examines the struggle for resources. The
conflict theory interprets the high tensions in a marriage a result from the sociological and
economic pressures we face in life. The conflict theory shows the fight for equality and power and
makes marriage a competition which results in

Mental Health And Mental Health
Furthermore, Imani Boyette is the twenty two year old woman who is the center for the
Women National Basketball Association s Atlanta Dream (Gleeson Brady, 2017). The first time
Boyette tried to commit suicide three times, but she first attempted suicide at the age of ten
(Gleeson Brady, 2017). She suffers from clinically diagnosed severe depression that she
attributes to a combination of circumstance (she was raped as a child by a family member) and
happenstance (her biological makeup) (Gleeson Brady, 2017). Ms. Boyette always felt as if she
was a burden to everyone; as a result, she constantly remained quiet and never bother to seek
help (Gleeson Brady, 2017). Her mental health was so poor that it affected her marriage; there
were days when she would not even bother to get out of bed whatsoever (Gleeson Brady, 2017).
She accepted the fact that she needed professional help As a result, Boyette now shares her story
with everyone and wants to be a role model to those who also suffer the same fate as her (Gleeson
Brady, 2017).
Mental health needs to be taken seriously, for it affects a person s brain. A person s brain
controls many functions such as one s behavior and mood. If one has poor mental health, then he
is at risk to have depression, anxiety, and many more negative factors. Societal norm makes
citizens believe that searching for help is considered frail and fragile. However, athletes, such as
Michael Phelps and Mardy Fish, have shown that it is acceptable to receive the professional help
that one needs. A psychologist and a psychiatrist are both doctors who are a professional in mental
health. Therefore, these professionals can assist competitors in locating ways to cope with their
depressions and to discover different methods to improve the player s behavior.
Sports organizations must provide mental help to prevent players from suffering mental illness.
One thing that sports owners can do is issue new policies. Every season, players must complete a
physical exam, but players do not have to complete a mental exam. Why? If sports organizations
make it a requirement for competitors to receive a mental checkup, then this will reduce mental
illness upon competitors. The policy should impose

Professional Hockey Players
In the world of professional sports, teams value youth, searching for the next super star. Whether it
is inking the highly coveted free agent, or rebuilding through drafts, General Managers have put a
premium on young athletes, hoping that these youngsters will become the face of the franchise.
Age and experience has seem to taken a back seat for teams. While it is important to develop
young prospects, veteran leadership is often hard to find during games, in the locker room, and
particularly during the playoffs. There are four current players in the National Hockey League who
are still excelling well into their 40 s, contributing on a nightly basis. They are Martin Brodeur,
Teemu Selanne, Jaromir Jagr, and Daniel Alfredsson.
Daniel Alfredsoon, the longtime captain of the Ottawa Senators, now plays for the Detroit Red
Wings. Alfredsson is 41 years old and is currently second on the team this season in goals, having
lit the lamp 17 times. With injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Alfredsson has
been able to step up and provide the scoring that Detroit desperately sought when its two stars
went down with injuries. He also has 26 assists on the season and is helping the Red Wings make
a late season push for the playoffs.
Alfredsson participated in his 5th Olympic games this February as a member of Sweden s team.
He had four points in five games, registering two goals and two assists to help his country earn a

Federalism was created to form a centralized national government and unity between the essentially
autonomous states after the Articles of Confederation. The devolution revolution was a movement
that reduced the responsibilities of the federal government and gave power back to the states, a
transition propelled by both popular sentiment and budget imperatives. It focused on the New
Federalismideology Ronald Reagan supported. The author of Devil in Devolution, John Donahue
argues letting Washington fade while the states take the lead is badly timed. In his opinion, states
are powerful enough and the federal government s retreat to a domestic role. The tragedy of

The Irony In The Cask Of Amontillado
There are numerous interesting stories we have read and characters we have come to know
throughout our readings. I found all of them interesting, but I found Cathedral to be a very
intriguing story. The personality that Carver gave the husband was interesting to me because
other than his jealousy of Robert due to his relationship with his wife, he had no real reason as
to why he did not like him. Jealousy can be a dangerous thing if we allow it to consume our lives
and I felt that this is what the husband was doing. Robert was blind and the wife had worked for
him and had kept in touch via recordings. He was allowing his jealousy to blind him from seeing
what a good person Robert actually was. The husband was a major part of the stories... Show more

Themes may be interpreted differently and that is what keeps the stories interesting. A theme
that is seen throughout our readings is consequences. This theme could fit into The Cask of
Amontillado, Babylon Revisited, The Birthmark, A Good Man is Hard to Find, Good Country
People, and Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been. In all of these stories the character s
actions end with consequences. In The Cask of Amontillado, Fortunato believes he is just having
fun with Montresor, but receives grave consequences when Montresor plots to kill him after he
has taken more embarrassment than he can handle. Another example is in Babylon Revisited. F.
Scott Fitzgerald has a recurring theme of consequences. First there is the overall view that
people in the 1920 s had invested all of their money in the stock market and then it crashed, thus
leading to momentous amounts of consequences because people were left with nothing. There
are also consequences for Charlie as the party life he had lived with his wife was actively
effecting his present situation and his future. He no longer had custody of his daughter as a
consequence of his behaviors. The Birthmark is another good example of consequences. Aylmer is
obsessed with removing Gerogiana s birthmark in order to make her more beautiful. He goes
through all kinds of experiments in order to remove the mark. Eventually he does get the birthmark
to fade away, but

Sports And Recreation In The Elizabethan Era
Recreation in the Renaissance
The Elizabethan era was one of the most captivating times in England s rich history. Sports and
competitions played a major role in Elizabethan England. Citizens lives revolved around some of
the most bizarre and inhumane competitions ever known. Sports, partaken in by everyone, were the
main type of entertainment and a release for the competitive side of England s people in the
Elizabethan time period.
There were many sports that became popular with the citizens of Elizabethan England. Nobles often
participated in archery, bowling, dice, hammer throwing and most known tennis ( Alchin
Elizabethan Sports ). Furthermore, nobles watched wrestling and the bloodiest sports including
bear and bull baiting and dog and cock fighting. For example the queen often appeared at these
events (Alchin Elizabethan Bear Bull Baiting ). Sports began to come from other countries and
continents as people would travel to England, consequently making tennis the most popular sport of
the upper classes as it originated in medieval France.
Sports presented an opportunity as a release for England s community. The utmost popular sport
was bear baiting which first became business in the mid 1500s. People s lives involved bull baiting
and arenas formed to host these spectacles. Additionally, Philip Henslowe establishing a dedicated
animal fighting arena in Thames shows how crucial the sport had become (Alchin Elizabethan Bear

The NFL players are bringing up many arguments whether or not it is okay to kneel during the
National Anthem. They are kneeling because they are speaking out against police brutality and
equality. Although the current guidelines say that the players should stand and have their hand on
their heart (Breer), some people still think it is okay since they have to right of free speech. But
kneelingduring the National Anthem is very disrespectful to the armed forces, the other players, and
the entire nation.
The armed forces fought for our country and the Anthem stands for what they fought for, so it
should not be a time where you protest (Chan). The players who choose to kneel during the anthem
are disrespecting the flag and our country. Even though they have the right to have free speech, it
does not mean they should be able to run protests during a time in which we say how great our
country is. I think that they forget there is still men and women serving in harm s way, and we
have nothing but support for those people. Thats what its all about (Hafner). NFL players start to
forget about all the people in the country who fight for them and the whole country. Since people
think that the NFL players are disrespecting the armed forces, they start to dislike the players.
Even if they are not trying to do that, people still may take it in that way. So it is a negative effect
of the kneeling.
Not only is it disrespectful to the armed forces it is towards their teammates. Kneeling

The Dancing Spirits
On Saturday 25th February, 2017, 10.00 am was a strategic moment to watch the film, Forest of the
Dancing Spirits at the Roxy Theater Missoula considering the theme of the film. A shift from the
conventional movie based on urban contexts, the uniqueness of the film results from the stunning
insights that it offers into an endangered way of human life. The film covers the life of members of
the Aka tribe living inside the rainforest of the Congo Basin that is yet to be disturbed by
civilization. Traditional rituals and ancestral myths are used to highlight the significant degree that
the tribe is yet to establish contact with the external world. A surprising aspect is their approach to
spirituality. They rely on their religionin critical

The Spread and Localization of Buddhism and Islam into...
The spread of religion first began through contact with neighbouring countries which gradually
expand throughout the years. Buddhism and Islam are one of the most widespread religions across
Southeast Asian countries like Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and
Vietnam. Trade merchants and imperial support of the religion were major factors in the facilitation
and localization of the spread of Buddhismand Islamwithin Southeast Asia. However, there were
also limitations presented which hindered the development of each religion in within their
countries as introduction of newer religions and changes to political and imperial power would
have affected the progression to become fully localised pre 1800s.

This facilitated the increasing practice of Buddhism in Southeast Asia attributable to influences
from foreign Buddhist merchants to the nations thus integrating itself into civilization and daily life
(Adler and Pouwels 2008, 64).
Imperial support played a major part in facilitation and localisation of the spread of Buddhism
into Southeast Asia. Asoka, as mentioned, was a big supporter of Theravada Buddhism and was
deemed an exemplar for future Buddhist emperor to establish Buddhism as a part of the country s
traditions and lifestyle (Swearer 2010, 71). He believed that true conquest of a country was by the
force of the teachings of religion (Swearer 1997, 89). Through his persistent method of conquest,
he influenced several Theravada Buddhist rulers like King Kyanzittha of Pagan, Burma and King
Tilokaraja of Chiang Mai, Thailand during 11th and 15th century respectively to position Buddhism
as a part of their reign, conquest and authority (Swearer 2010, 71). This significantly enabled the
localization of Buddhism into Southeast Asia especially in countries like Thailand who remains
supportive of Buddhism as declared by the Chakri dynasty from the end of 18th century onwards
(Bowker 2007, 150). It was through the support of imperial power that led the countries citizens to

Social Cost Benefit Analysis
INTRODUCTION
What is Social Cost Benefit Analysis?
Cost benefit analysis is a process for evaluating the merits of a particular project or course of
action in a systematic and rigorous way. Social cost benefit analysis refers to cases where the
project has a broad impact across society {and, as such, is usually carried out by the government.
While the cost and benefits may relate to goods and services that have a simple and transparent
measure in a convenient unit (e.g. their price in money), this is frequently not so, especially in the
social case. It should therefore be emphasized that the costs and benefits considered by (social)
`cost benefit analysis are not limited to easily quantifiable changes in material ... Show more content

Their presence and their social background affect the social structure and mode of life at the
destination. Tourists are in turn affected by the experiences and often carry back home with them
new habits and new outlook on life.
Tourism has an educational significance. In the wider sense it has the altogether beneficial effect
which contact between people of different races and nationalities can bring about. In a narrow sense
much tourist activity takes the form of study trips and attendance at courses and conferences with
specified educational aims in view.
Tourism is often accompanied by cultural exchange and by cultural enrichment of those who travel
as well as those at the receiving end. The cultural factors that may attract tourists to a particular
destination are architecture, historical monuments and birthplaces of famous people. These are
some of the places most visited by the tourists. Festivals and exhibition rely heavily to visitor traffic
as their audience.
Tourism can be classified into:
a. Tourists visit places for recreational purposes. Such tourists spots are usually hill stations,
beaches etc, such tourists like to get away from the daily grind of life and freshen themselves.
b. CULTURAL TOURISM:
Such type of tourist satisfies the cultural curiosity of the tourist. Such tourist spots include ancient

JAPANESE STRATEGIC FAILURES IN THE SPRING OF 1942
Essay
After successfully executing operations in the Southeast and the Southwest Pacific by the spring of
1942, what should Japan have done next?
I can run wild for six months ... after that, I have no expectation of success.
Unconfirmed quotation attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander in Chief Japanese
Combined Fleet.
Setting the stage Admiral Isoroku Yamamotois believed to have foretold of the suffering that was
to befall Japan, and in fact was said to have argued heavily against waking a sleeping giant. Did
Yamamoto recognize the shortcomings of Japan s war strategy even before the first shots were

Even in the years leading up to the war, Japan s military believed in the superiority of their
technology and personnel. For instance, even when Japanese naval leaders correctly perceived the
shift of carrier based aircraft becoming the predominant offensive capability, they made the error of
believing that American naval air would never be a worthy opponent. 2 pg. 359
Once success is tasted, the possibility of failure becomes less believable. The Japanese were
able to move so swiftly in the Pacific in the first 6 months of war that they seemingly believed
that they could continue uncontested indefinitely. Once again, as in their early victories in the
Russo Japanese War over three decades earlier, Japan possessed in the stronger hand at the outset
of conflict, because they were the initiators the conflict and had the capability to plan for all of
the moves they would make at the outset. Their opponents in both wars were initially left with no
choice but to only be able to react to Japanese attacks, and in only limited fashion were the
opponents able to turn the tables and force the Japanese to react. An example of being able to turn
the tables was the April 1942 Doolittle raid, which forced the Japanese to change their operational
plan to one of requiring the destruction of the U.S. carrier fleet. The fact

Pros And Cons Of Electric Over Gas Pressure Washer

pressure washer. Which one is best for you? Here is why you may decide to choose one over the
other. Electric Powered Pressure Washers With an electric pressure washer, you will experience
both pros and cons. The pros include the fact that it can be very powerful. Some electric pressure

They are heavy, but they often have wheels to help you with portability. These pressure washers
do require you to perform maintenance on it. However, if you keep up with the routine
maintenance, they may last you for many years. These pressure washers are more powerful than
the electric ones. Some of the higher end pressure washers can have up to 4,000 PSI and still be
available for homeowners instead of commercial use. The downside is, in most cases you will
pay more for a gas powered pressure washer. Sometimes, even for a small pressure washer, you
may expect to spend $150 more for a small gas powered pressure washer. This combined with the
fact you have to buy detergents, gas, oil, and other things makes some people choose to go with
the electric powered pressure washers. The problem with the extra price is mostly based on the
fact that you may spend $250 on a gas powered pressure washer or spend $100 on an electric
pressure washer and end up with about the same PSI. This happens because to spend that little on
a gas powered machine, you will be purchasing a low end gas powered pressure washer. If you
spend $100 on an electric, you should be getting a middle to high end cleaning

Kathy Kudler founded Kudler Fine Food. She was once the VP of marketing for a large defense

for other opportunities. As it happened, Kathy relieved her stress through gourmet cooking and
on a shopping trip for ingredients for a gourmet meal. Kathy suddenly realized there was an
opportunity for an upscale epicurean food shop in La Jolla. Kathy developed a business plan,

Many opportunities for Kudler Fine Foods come with going public with an IPO. A considerably
greater amount of capital comes from the issuing of shares for trading on the stock market. It
helps increase the amount of business taking place if Kudler Fine Foods were to become a

The Evolution Of Human Speech
The Evolution of Human Speech
As human we can communicate via our speaking ability to express our feelings, as a way to
deliver the message we want another. These articles that I read discuss the anatomical prerequisite
for humans to gain the ability to speak such as the absent and present of the air sac in hominids.
Morphological changes of the face structure such as the reduced growth of the palate and the
descent of the larynx. The controversial hypotheses of the hypoglossal canal size are indicative of
speech, and modern humans have a larger hypoglossal canal size compare to other hominids were
examined. These are just the anatomical aspects of the possible contribution to the human speech.
The first paper, the study done by Bart de Boer involves the loss of air sacs serves as possible
evidence to why modern humans can produce complex language. The fact that air sacs are
present in apes and absent in modern humans and Homo neandethalensis is the interesting piece
to why we and the Neandethal are capable speak to speak and the others cannot. To investigate
further to see how early humans and Homo neandethalensis did not have air sacs, an experiment
was set up using a hearing procedure to show if air sacs reduce the perceptual effect of vowel
articulations (de Boer 2012). The methods for this study were done by 22 human participants were
gathered in a soundproof room and have them listen to the different vowels produce through the air
tubes with or without air sacs. The

Malmare Throughout the History of Computers
Throughout the history of computers, malware has been developed and expanded. Today, several
different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities.
Virus
One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer
virus is malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a
biological virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives.
Nowadays, they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that
download a virus onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the
computer unusable (Department of Homeland Security).
Trojan
Yet another piece of malwareis a trojan horse. This malware is much like the popular historical
Trojan horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous
software inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users
remote access to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive
information (IT Business Edge, 2014).
Phishing
As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of
malware that also targets computer users. These phishing scams usually come in the form of emails
to users. By attaching logos to the emails, phishing scams appear to be from legitimate business,
such as popular corporations, universities, or

William Shakespeare s Oedipus, A Play Written By Sophocles

Blinded by the Truth
Oftentimes characters can see perfectly but are blind to the obvious truth; conversely, some
characters are in fact blind but have the insight to see the greater truth. Authors sometimes convey
dramatic irony through diction that symbolizes something to the audience. Oedipus, a play written
by Sophocles, contains numerous accounts where the author uses words to convey a deeper
truth about characters and their experiences. Sight, light, blindness, and darkness all have a
literal meaning, but when placed into this play, with its intricate plot, they express the dramatic
ironies that unfold between Oedipus and his past. Greek tragedies are known to use language
that expresses the deeper truths about the to the audiences. Sight, the most common word used
by play writers, brings about a whole new meaning to it rather that its normal literal meaning.
The impression of fear and pity may be produced by sight (Richardson). At first glance this quote
looks as if it is mainly speaking about the audience s reaction of what they saw yet as people
analyze this deeper, they arise at the realization that this is discussing how actors within a play are
affected greatly by what they see. It can be taken both ways but in the case of this essay, the
people that knew the truth of Oedipus past and the prophecy felt remorse and pity for him because
for a man to endure such hardships yet be blind to the truth

Philosophical Understanding and a New View
Philosophical understanding
Philosophy is the study of legitimacy, existence, and the manner in which things exist. Philosophy
incorporates an immense range of topics and every person, place, thing, and idea has its roots
implanted in it. Everybody has their own beliefs in life whether it s from religion, morals, or in
essence everything in general. Philosophers try to answer the unknown questions in life that
everyone is wanting to examine and have the answers to. I never even thought twice about the
world we live in, I thought that it was just life and that s all to it; we live and we die. Throughout
the semester I have learned many different views of the world by diverse philosophers. Many I

The new born baby would be able to hear the noise of the people in the hospital room, feel the arms
around him, see the smiling faces, smell and taste the placenta he has been resting in for so long.
The baby without senses would not even know it exists without having senses to understand his
surroundings. Epistemology is how we gain and acquire knowledge. My empiricist epistemological
view point is that nothing in the mind was put there without the help of the senses. Everything
we know is based on learning from different people, or on our own. Rule books are not just
zapped into our heads about how to do things. Every daily task we have in life goes back in time
to the first person who thought of the idea. For example the first person to create a car, they
would not have created it if they could not see, walk or talk. The person who created the first car
would not know the long hours it takes to walk somewhere far away because they would not be
able to feel the pain of soreness the day after. They would have never been able to experiment
ways to create machinery that would make everyone s lives easier someday. I m sure he did not get
it right the first time, but he learned through experience. I believe we learn something new every
day through our senses, and we will continue to learn things through our senses. I cannot think of

Disadvantages Of Functional Organisation
Functional Organisation F.W. Taylor, who is known as the father of scientific management
developed the concept of Functional Organisation . According to name, functional organisation
implies that the organisation ought to be based on various functions. Taylor s functional/practical
approach is based on principle of specialization and tries to cover up the organisational balance.
The principle of specialisation enlighten the concept that both the workers and the supervisors can
develop or maintain a higher degree of proficiency by separating the manual from mental
requirements. Taylor recommended that there ought to be functionalisation even at the
lowest(shop) level where workers are producing goods. He felt that the usual practice of putting

Informal Dueling
This week in Defense Against the Dark Arts, we covered the basics of dueling. This lesson
covered the differences between a formal duel and an informal duel. During a formal duel, a
formal challenge is issued to an opponent. Only magical means of dueling can be used. A
mediator is chosen, as well as seconds for each opponent. A second is someone who takes the place
of the person in the duelshould they be needed to. The duel ends when one person forfeits, the
original participant and second are both unable to continue the duel due to being disarmed or
seriously injured, or both people being killed. In a formal duel, the opponents must bow to one

Albus Dumbledore, Aberforth Dumbledore, and Gellert Grindelwald, and the massive duel

this been a formal duel, her death would not have happened because someone would have

informative information, that even one who is not that knowledgeable about this field of study can

Declaration Of Sentiments Rhetorical Analysis
The opening paragraph of Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration of Sentiments, which narrates,
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary..., (Stanton 1), along with the title itself
reveals a connection to Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
wrote the declaration after being excluded from the World Anti Slavery convention, much like how
the colonists were excluded from British Parliament. Declaration of Sentimentslists the grievances
of women, which is another similarly to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence where he lists the
grievances of the colonists. Stanton introduced her Declaration of Sentiments at the Seneca Falls
Convention, which further conveys similarity to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence as his
Declaration of Independence was introduced at the Second Continental Congress. Stanton,
modeling her Declaration of Sentiments after Jefferson s Declaration of Independence, uses
anaphora, the rhetorical triangle, allusions, personification, and harsh diction to achieve her effect
of inspiring change to the benefit of women in society, similar to how Thomas Jefferson inspired
change in the colonies through his Declaration of Independence. In order to emphasize and
organize her points about the grievances of women in Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton uses
anaphora in like manner to the way Jefferson uses it in Declaration of Independence. In most of
Stanton s paragraphs between lines 28 and 70 of her

  • 2. Sedimentary Rock Evolution Analyzing the change in species over time utilizes the support from many disciplines of science in order to come to the most plausible explanation of said change. Geology more specifically, the fossil record is one such discipline that elicits profound insight on speciation. The fossil record is best described as life s evolutionary story as it clearly shows sequential change in organisms throughout time by providing a starting point and in many cases transitional fossils as benchmarks for comparison. Sedimentary rock is crucial to this process as it is what cements organisms in time at their time of death. Sedimentary rock is common on Earth and formed by the weathering of older rocks. As this weathering occurs organisms that have died are buried in the sediments produced and preserved as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These fossils can range from footprints left by an organism or skeletal structures such as the pelvic girdle of a fish. Fossils allow scientists to expound on the evolutionary history of an organism by providing features to follow throughout time. Scientists have pieced together the evolution of flight in birds and the structures needed to accomplish this task by documenting changes that took place in the forelimbs, clavicle, and pelvis from current birds back to their pre winged ancestors. Additionally, the evolution of paired appendages and subsequent loss in some vertebrates has been well documented in the fossil record and specifically the stickleback. After the recession of the glaciers, populations of stickleback were scattered in isolated lakes throughout the northern hemisphere. Fish in lakes with no predation lost their pelvic spines since there was no evolutionary advantage to maintain them. By analyzing the fossils of stickleback scientists were able to see this change occurred over the span of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is not possible to buy or own those substances and the use of them in research may be authorised only with a Home Office licence. • 9. Human Beings Possess A Distinct Consciousness Feuerbach first says that since human beings have religion and animals don t, there must be something that human beings possess that essentially differentiates them from animals. Human beings possess a distinctive consciousness which he calls species consciousness that animals don t possess. In other words, a man that possesses a species consciousness he is capable to take its own essential nature as an object of thought. In addition, the humanindividual has the capacity of thought which means that he can engage himself in an internal dialogue and thus the human individual stands a relation to his species. When a human being is conscious of himself as a human, he is also conscious that he is a being that is able to feel, to think and to will. In other words, the three mental faculties that Feuebarch identifies as crucial in the development of Christian consciousness are reason, will and affection. But kneelingduring the National Anthem is very disrespectful to the armed forces, the other players, and the entire nation. The armed forces fought for our country and the Anthem stands for what they fought for, so it should not be a time where you protest (Chan). Weary of the constant travel and the pressures of corporate life, Kathy was looking for other opportunities. As it happened, Kathy relieved her stress through gourmet cooking and on a shopping trip for ingredients for a gourmet meal. Kathy suddenly realized there was an opportunity for an upscale epicurean food shop in La Jolla. Kathy developed a business plan, obtained financing and six months later, on June 18, 1998, the first Kudler Fine Foods opened. Within nine months the store was at break even and was profitable for the year. In 2000, a second store was opened in Del Mar and in 2003 a third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When used by academics, an arbitrage is a transaction that involves no negative cash flow at any probabilistic or temporal state and a positive cash flow in at least one state; in simple terms, it is the possibility of a risk free profit at zero cost. Opportunities of Each Approach Many opportunities for Kudler Fine Foods come with going public with an IPO. A considerably greater amount of capital comes from the issuing of shares for trading on the stock market. It helps increase the amount of business taking place if Kudler Fine Foods were to become a publicly traded company. Public firms tend to enjoy a higher profile than their privately held counterparts. This may make it easier to make sales and attract vendors to supply goods and services to the firm (Keown, et. al., 2005, p. 413). This growth would be to the degree that the current management infrastructure could not handle at this time. There would need to be some widespread foundational changes for Kudler to have this opportunity to issue stocks. The company knows the current stockholders, the value of the employees, and the company s customers. Kathy Kudler is not concerned with working by another organization in the same industry. Even though there are competitors, they are not as abundant in the California areas where her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Evolution Of Human Speech The Evolution of Human Speech As human we can communicate via our speaking ability to express our feelings, as a way to deliver the message we want another. These articles that I read discuss the anatomical prerequisite for humans to gain the ability to speak such as the absent and present of the air sac in hominids. Morphological changes of the face structure such as the reduced growth of the palate and the descent of the larynx. The controversial hypotheses of the hypoglossal canal size are indicative of speech, and modern humans have a larger hypoglossal canal size compare to other hominids were examined. These are just the anatomical aspects of the possible contribution to the human speech. The first paper, the study done by Bart de Boer involves the loss of air sacs serves as possible evidence to why modern humans can produce complex language. The fact that air sacs are present in apes and absent in modern humans and Homo neandethalensis is the interesting piece to why we and the Neandethal are capable speak to speak and the others cannot. To investigate further to see how early humans and Homo neandethalensis did not have air sacs, an experiment was set up using a hearing procedure to show if air sacs reduce the perceptual effect of vowel articulations (de Boer 2012). The methods for this study were done by 22 human participants were gathered in a soundproof room and have them listen to the different vowels produce through the air tubes with or without air sacs. • 32. Malmare Throughout the History of Computers Throughout the history of computers, malware has been developed and expanded. Today, several different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities. Virus One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer virus is malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a biological virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives. Nowadays, they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that download a virus onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the computer unusable (Department of Homeland Security). Trojan Yet another piece of malwareis a trojan horse. This malware is much like the popular historical Trojan horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous software inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users remote access to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive information (IT Business Edge, 2014). Phishing As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of malware that also targets computer users. These phishing scams usually come in the form of emails to users. By attaching logos to the emails, phishing scams appear to be from legitimate business, such as popular corporations, universities, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. William Shakespeare s Oedipus, A Play Written By Sophocles Kayleigh De Koker Mrs. Beckman World Literature 21 November, 15 Blinded by the Truth Oftentimes characters can see perfectly but are blind to the obvious truth; conversely, some characters are in fact blind but have the insight to see the greater truth. Authors sometimes convey dramatic irony through diction that symbolizes something to the audience. Oedipus, a play written by Sophocles, contains numerous accounts where the author uses words to convey a deeper truth about characters and their experiences. Sight, light, blindness, and darkness all have a literal meaning, but when placed into this play, with its intricate plot, they express the dramatic ironies that unfold between Oedipus and his past. Greek tragedies are known to use language that expresses the deeper truths about the to the audiences. Sight, the most common word used by play writers, brings about a whole new meaning to it rather that its normal literal meaning. The impression of fear and pity may be produced by sight (Richardson). At first glance this quote looks as if it is mainly speaking about the audience s reaction of what they saw yet as people analyze this deeper, they arise at the realization that this is discussing how actors within a play are affected greatly by what they see. It can be taken both ways but in the case of this essay, the people that knew the truth of Oedipus past and the prophecy felt remorse and pity for him because for a man to endure such hardships yet be blind to the truth ... • 35. Philosophical Understanding and a New View Philosophical understanding Philosophy is the study of legitimacy, existence, and the manner in which things exist. Philosophy incorporates an immense range of topics and every person, place, thing, and idea has its roots implanted in it. Everybody has their own beliefs in life whether it s from religion, morals, or in essence everything in general. Philosophers try to answer the unknown questions in life that everyone is wanting to examine and have the answers to. I never even thought twice about the world we live in, I thought that it was just life and that s all to it; we live and we die. Throughout the semester I have learned many different views of the world by diverse philosophers. Many I agreed with, many I did not but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The new born baby would be able to hear the noise of the people in the hospital room, feel the arms around him, see the smiling faces, smell and taste the placenta he has been resting in for so long. The baby without senses would not even know it exists without having senses to understand his surroundings. Epistemology is how we gain and acquire knowledge. My empiricist epistemological view point is that nothing in the mind was put there without the help of the senses. Everything we know is based on learning from different people, or on our own. Rule books are not just zapped into our heads about how to do things. Every daily task we have in life goes back in time to the first person who thought of the idea. For example the first person to create a car, they would not have created it if they could not see, walk or talk. The person who created the first car would not know the long hours it takes to walk somewhere far away because they would not be able to feel the pain of soreness the day after. They would have never been able to experiment ways to create machinery that would make everyone s lives easier someday. I m sure he did not get it right the first time, but he learned through experience. I believe we learn something new every day through our senses, and we will continue to learn things through our senses. I cannot think of anything that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to name, functional organisation implies that the organisation ought to be based on various functions. Taylor s functional/practical approach is based on principle of specialization and tries to cover up the organisational balance. The principle of specialisation enlighten the concept that both the workers and the supervisors can develop or maintain a higher degree of proficiency by separating the manual from mental requirements. Taylor recommended that there ought to be functionalisation even at the lowest(shop) level where workers are producing goods. • 37. Informal Dueling This week in Defense Against the Dark Arts, we covered the basics of dueling. This lesson covered the differences between a formal duel and an informal duel. During a formal duel, a formal challenge is issued to an opponent. Only magical means of dueling can be used. A mediator is chosen, as well as seconds for each opponent. A second is someone who takes the place of the person in the duelshould they be needed to. The duel ends when one person forfeits, the original participant and second are both unable to continue the duel due to being disarmed or seriously injured, or both people being killed. In a formal duel, the opponents must bow to one another at the beginning of the duel, as this indicates respect to your opponent. An informal duel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the formal duels was between Alberta Toothill and Samson Wiblin, which was a part of the 1493 All England Dueling Competition. The second one we learned about was between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald in 1945. Albus Dumbledore won and Grindelwald was sent to prison. The two informal duels that we studied were the three way duel between Albus Dumbledore, Aberforth Dumbledore, and Gellert Grindelwald, and the massive duel between Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Dobby the House Elf, Bellatrix Lestrange, Fenrir Greyback, and the Malfoy family. Both of these informal duels ended in death. During the Dumbledore Dumbledore Grindelwald duel, Ariana Dumbledore, sister to the two Dumbledores involved in the duel, attempted to intervene and was hit by a rogue spell and died. Clearly, had this been a formal duel, her death would not have happened because someone would have prevented things from getting out of hand. Additionally, had more attention been paid to their surroundings, her presence would have been noticed and the spell, perhaps would not have been cast. During the massive duel, Bellatrix used non magical means to kill Dobby (she threw a knife). Again, had this been a formal duel, these methods would not have been allowed and Dobby would have escaped with his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Declaration Of Sentiments Rhetorical Analysis The opening paragraph of Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Declaration of Sentiments, which narrates, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary..., (Stanton 1), along with the title itself reveals a connection to Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence. Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote the declaration after being excluded from the World Anti Slavery convention, much like how the colonists were excluded from British Parliament. Declaration of Sentimentslists the grievances of women, which is another similarly to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence where he lists the grievances of the colonists. Stanton introduced her Declaration of Sentiments at the Seneca Falls Convention, which further conveys similarity to Jefferson s Declaration of Independence as his Declaration of Independence was introduced at the Second Continental Congress. Stanton, modeling her Declaration of Sentiments after Jefferson s Declaration of Independence, uses anaphora, the rhetorical triangle, allusions, personification, and harsh diction to achieve her effect of inspiring change to the benefit of women in society, similar to how Thomas Jefferson inspired change in the colonies through his Declaration of Independence. In order to emphasize and organize her points about the grievances of women in Declaration of Sentiments, Stanton uses anaphora in like manner to the way Jefferson uses it in Declaration of Independence.
