The Use of Internet Services by Postgraduate Students for Research in Francis...iosrjce
In recent times, computer-based technologies have become dominant forces to shape and reshape the
products and service that university library offers. The application of computer technologies has had a profound
impact on the way library resources are being used. The study focused on the use of Internet service by
postgraduate students for research in Francis Sulemanu Idachaba Library, University of Agriculture Makurdi.
Descriptive survey was used as design of the study. A questionnaire titled Use of Internet Service by
Postgraduate Students for Research Questionnaire (UISPSRQ) was used to collect data from a sample of 270
postgraduate students of University of Agriculture, Makurdi. The sample was drawn from the population of
2000 postgraduate students. The findings revealed that 37.78% had received Internet training from external
sources. The Internet skill of 44.44% was rated average. Only 22% used the Internet daily and 87.41 % claimed
that digital libraries had greatly enhanced their academic performance. Majority of 51.11% used Internet
facilities outside the University mainly for research and education activities. Problems encountered included
longtime to view or download web pages and insufficient computers. The study revealed that the use of Internet
had led to decreased in the use of traditional library facilities but only 94 % were fully satisfied with the
Internet facilities. A large majority of 92.96% were of the opinion that proper guidance of students in the use of

Over the years many things have changed in higher education spectrum. New teaching and learning methods have been introduced; users have become more computer literates. This led to change in information seeking habit of students of law. Once, the law reports, commentaries and manuals were the most preferred sources of information. But due to emergence of ICT, the e-resources have attracted the attention of the law users more than ever before. This paper discusses the impact of electronic legal resources on the information seeking behavior of law users. It also seeks to highlight the awareness and usage of public domain databases by Indian legal researchers. Further, it suggests organizing information skills program to enhance the information seeking behavior of legal researchers

Major trends in distance education research: a combination of bibliometric an...Nader Ale Ebrahim
This study intends to explore the current trends in the field of distance education research catalogued in Web of Science (WoS) database during 1980-2016. Mainly bibliographic description and social network analysis was employed to investigate the structure and patterns of information exchanged within the field of distance education research and also to interpret the interrelationship between keywords indicated in these articles. A total of 500 most cited articles (out of 6,141 relevant to the topic) were reviewed to examine the impact of factors such as journal DOI and keywords on the number of citations that they received. We also identified major trends in distance education literature including variation across publication and citation year, top ranking of institutions and top ranking of published papers based on authors, subject area and co-authorship collaboration between countries. Our results show that the most cited articles are from two institutions of United States and United Kingdom and the most prolific years in terms of number of published articles and citations are 2013.We also found non-significant and very small correlation between the number of citation and DOI number of the journals. Our study serves as a resource for future studies by indicating how trends in distance education research have gradually developed over time and demonstrating the characteristics of the most cited articles in this literature.
The research focuses on library posts, such as contents, presentation styles and Facebook features uses, and respones from library users, such as the library’s Facebook membership number and their reactions as well as the libraries’ policies and strategies of Facebook. The research methodologies were based on quantitative research approaches. The libraries’ uses of Facebook and their memberships’ respones data were gathered from 80 library Facebook sites. The findings will be very beneficial for the libraries’ to plan and operate their Facebook to meet library user’s needs and information technology dynamic changes.

2. Abstract
The internet has changed the world in an incalculable
number of ways. It has changed the way that people
communicate, the way that business is done, and the way
that information is shared and received. The internet has
also had a great effect on student’s reading habits, as it
has changed the way that people expect to receive both
information and entertainment.
3. Introduction
• A Library is a collection of information, sources, resources, books, and
services, and the structure in which it is housed.
• collection of media other than books for storing information, maps,
prints, or other documents and various storage media such as
microform (microfilm/microfiche), audio tapes, CDs, cassettes,
videotapes, and DVDs
• It is believed that computers and the Internet are changing the way
people read. The invention of computer has lead to the revolution of
people’s literacy world in the21st century. People nowadays tend to
rely more on computer-based resources (such as writing emails,
sending free e-cards, watching online video, reading online news,
transmitting instant messages and photos by Yahoo or MSN
messengers, exchanging information in online chat room or
discussion area) than paper based resources (such as writing letters,
sending cards and postcards, reading newspapers, magazines, novels,
and sending pictures by snail mails).
4. Reading habits
Reading habits are the intellectual activities for giving
more information, knowledge and learn to various
types of things and their activities
Reading Habits means behavior which express the
lightness of reading of individual, which occur
regularly of leisure reading approach, type of reading
tastes of reading & use of library services
Reading habit is an active skill – based process of
constructing meaning and gaining knowledge from
oral, visual and written text.
5. Factors affecting the Reading
Habits
It is difficult to single out a primary factor leading to
the establishment of one's attitude toward reading,
but environment, particularly the home, probably
provides the greatest influence.
Teachers influence students, they have the potential
for influencing students' attitudes toward reading.
Environment at School/College/Home/Society
6. Impact of the internet On Reading
Habits
Computers and the Internet are changing the way people read
What is the biggest difference between reading something on
the internet, and reading a book ? When you read a book,
you’re more focused, in the flow and probably relaxed; whereas
when you’re reading something on the internet you tend to
skim the text rather than read it, constantly distracted by the
(hyper) links, which take you away from the page you’re
reading, thereby breaking the flow. Also, while reading/surfing
the net, you tend to flit from one link to another, and most
probably never return back to the original article. Most of the
people (if not all), tend to read in this fashion on the net. This is
one of the consequences of the internet. It has redefined our
generations reading habit
7. Methodology
The present study has been carried out with the help of questionnaire
method. A questionnaire has been prepared and distributed among
the users of UHF, Library. All the data pertaining to present study has
been tabulated, analysed, calculated for final interpretation of reading
habits.
The study was limited to find the reading habits of users of UHF,
Library. The data analysis and interpretation is based on the users
from three Colleges i.e. College of Horticulture (COH),College of
Forestry (COF) and College of Basic Science (COBS) A study has been
made with help of data collected from 188 users of Dr Y S Parmar
University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan
