INTRODUCTION
The SCERT ,Delhi an autonomous body ,established in May ,1998 has
been providing academic resource support to the directorate of education and
the education department of MCD and NDMC and cantonment board so as to
achieve overall improvement in the quality of school education .The SCERT
support is available through various programmes which include continuing
education of teachers development of appropriate material for teachers and
students and undertaking research studies of the problems related to school
education in Delhi. The SCERT also oversees and provide necessary guidance
towards effective tune joining of nine diets of Delhi which among other
activities also conduct two years pre service diploma course in elementary
teacher education.
MISSION
To raise the quality of school education by improving the attitudes,
increased application of knowledge and enhanced teaching skills of teachers.
VISION
To grow into a premier institute of resources research, educational
technology and skill development in the field of teacher education in India
through all this we at SCERT are working to empower teachers who will
ensure that every child in Delhi shall receive training that helps them to be
happy, responsible, healthy and productive citizens
STRATEGIES
 To identify areas of difficulty in learning and teaching ,and solve them
 To develop and cultivate tolerance and inclusiveness as the hallmark
feature of school education in Delhi
 To explore and develop new methods and techniques for effective
teaching
SCERT is closely associated with regional institute of education ,Mysore,
the national council of educational research and training (NCERT), New Delhi,
the national institute of educational planning and administration (NIEPA) ,new
Delhi ,the regional institute of English , Bangalore ,UNICEF ,and UNFPA
,universities in Kerala etc .
PRE SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAMME
SCERT currently affiliates 2 preservice teacher education programme
for undergraduate students SCERT is responsible for preparing the curriculum
prescribing syllabi, course of study, academic calendar for these courses
Two year full time diploma in early childhood care and education
DISTRICT INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
As of 2011,9 district institute of education and training and teaching
(DIETS) have been set up for each of the 9 revenue district in Delhi and these
operate under the overall administrate control of SCERT

FUNTIONS
SCERT maintains a modern research and reference library with high
emphasis on education and its allied subjects, the mission is to build up a
relevant collection of information materials and timely dissemination of
information to educators educationalist, research, students and other
stakeholders in the field of educations
SCERT provide teachers hand book and resource C.D for special
schools .for students having hearing disabilities ,visual learning is more helpful
for them .hence SCERT made teachers handbook and resource C.D containing
visualization of all subjects in accordance ,with the special school curriculum
CONCUSION
Quality teachers as the assets of a school .teacher empowerment has got new
dimension in our country owing to the vision put forth by national curriculum
frame work (NCF) for making teacher education more sensitive to the merging
demand of the school system SCERT has important role in this area . for all
academic purpose SCERT function as an autonomous body , SCERT, at the
state level will carry out all those activities as counterpart of NCERT for the
qualitative improvement of education in the state .these includes workshops
,seminars ,training ,cluster meetings ,refresher courses ,comprehensive teacher
empowerment programmes ,researches ,research grants awards and scholarship
for teacher
