Imagery And Symbolism In Father And I By Paar Lagerqvist
The short story is about a Sunday walk in the country taken by a young boy and his father. Written in first person, it appears simple in nature, but it
is actually a more complex story that is depicted by the author. In his story, " Father and I", Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery and symbolism to say that
although as children we have unwavering faith in our parents and that our world basically revolves around them, at some point as we grow, we
realize that there is more to life than this sheltered world. The story begins on a perfect, bright Sunday afternoon. A father and son wave goodbye to
the mother who is preparing supper, and they head into the woods to enjoy the sounds of the birds and adventure along the railroad tracks. As the
young boy and his father are admiring nature, a train comes rushing along the tracks. His father saluted the familiar conductor and settled back into the
peacefulness of the afternoon. As dusk begins to fall, the child becomes uneasy about being in the darkening woods. The young boy's fear grows, but
his father remains calm and continues on. Then out of nowhere a mighty roar of a black train tore through the abyss startling the two out of their quiet
state. The train pierced the night at a frantic speed and the father tells his son that he did not recognize the driver. At this moment, the boy's perspective
on his father and life in general forever changes.
In the exposition of the story, Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery to create a perfect day

Narrative Speech : A Graduation Speech?
"Attention, a 19 year old boy has gone missing whilst training since 12:00pm." The radio went silent, "Mum that has happened to other people
before hasn't it?" asked 18 year old Jane Smith. " Yes, it happens a few times each year. No one has ever found them." replied her mum. "OK! Jane
and Max you two better be ready because we have to go now. "Coming!" yelled Max's deep voice. The four of them walked out of the squeaky door
and walked through all the dust to find the ceremony. "I'm glad to leave this old worn out house" Max sighed. "But it is 2095, it doesn't get much
better than this and you're about to find out Max" his dad David quickly replied. The security guards opened up the gate and let them enter the
fenced off area that holds the local hall. "Wow there are quite a lot of people here" exclaimed Jane. " The only people here are 18 year olds and their
parents to say goodbye" Her mother replied "how often will we see you after this graduation ceremony?" Jane questioned, brushing her long blonde
hair between her fingers. Her father sighed "You aren't supposed to see us again because after this you get sent off to a group called 'Diamonds' and
that group consists of people from age 18 – 21 who have training sessions almost every day and after you turn 21 there are still four more age groups
and by the time you're old enough to be in age group 50+ we might not even be around." The silence fell and they slowly entered the hall processing

Social Provisions Of Real And Imaginary Relationships
Everyone needs a friend, and when some children do not have friends it is hard for them to socially mature. When imaginary companions are created, it
helps develop children's social interactions. Children learn how to interact with others and realize how others could feel emotionally in certain
situations. There is a misconceptualization that children with imaginary companions are lonely and do not do well in social situations. Research has
showed that children with imaginary companions score higher on IQ tests and do better in social situations. Literature shows that imaginary
companions are found everywhere. Adults even have imaginary conversations. Having an imaginary companion is not a crime and should be
encouraged among young children.
Are Imaginary Relationships Based on Real Ones?
In the article, "Social Provisions of Real and Imaginary Relationships in Early Childhood" Gleason states that some psychologist believe that imaginary
companions are based on real relationships children have, and that children tend to be more emotionally invested in their imaginary companions
compared to friends or family members. Children imagine conflicts usually between themselves and their imaginary companions and the way the child
reacts to such difficulties might be reflective of how she or he understands the workings of real relationships (Gleason, 980). Usually, specific
relationships have certain citeria that has to be met in order for it to to be considered a real relationship.

Sample Resume : The Lses Purchase Bulk Power
The LSEs purchase bulk power in the wholesale power market each day in order to meet the customer demand (load) in a downstream retail market.
The LSEs in our model do not engage in production or sale activities in the wholesale power market and hence LSEs purchase power only from
Generators and not from each other.
The LSEs are modeled to submit daily load profiles into the Day–Ahead Market as their demand bids without strategic learning. Each LSE submits a
daily load profile into the day–ahead market for day D+1 at the beginning of each day D which indicates the real power demand (in MWs) for each of
24 successive hours H.
Configuration of ISO:
The activities of the ISO during a typical day D is shown below:
The ISO in our model during each day D determines a schedule of optimal power commitments (LMPs) for each hour of the Day–Ahead Market in day
D+1 conditional to Generator reported supply offers, LSE reported demand bids, branch flows limits, and nodal balance constraints ensuring supply
equals demand (load) at each transmission grid node. The resulting optimization problem is known as a bid–based AC optimal power flow (OPF)
problem. As typically done in actual markets, we approximate this bid–based AC OPF problem by means of a simpler bid–based DC OPF problem
where the real power constraints are linearized and reactive power constraints are ignored to get a strictly convex quadratic programming problem.
DCOPF Formulation:

Over a period of three months, all patients who underwent breast surgery in the general surgery department during this time will be invited in the
study. The population will comprise two groups of participants: a sample of participants who will be provided nursing interventions (an
intervention group, 30 women) and a sample of those who will be provided standard nursing care (a control group, 30 women). As far as possible,
the two groups will be of similar situation and parity. Recruited registered nurses in the surgery department will be instructed, and will be
responsible for recruiting participants when patients finish operation at least for 10 days. Patients will be interviewed to make sure that they are
eligible for the study, and will be asked about their demographic information. The process of this study will be explained to them. They also will be
advised that they may or may not be provided interventions depending on which group they are assigned to. Information from hospital records and the
initial interviews will be used for selecting participants for this study. All of the patients' demographic information will be protected. Patients who

Methodology:
In order to achieve the above goals, several steps were carried out. First, various online dating sites were considered and narrowed down to three
possible choices: eHarmony, Match.com, and Christian Mingle. Three ideas were brought forth regarding which site to analyse in order to determine
which sites could potentially hold more issues and which site had sufficient content to be analyzed effectively. Next in the process, eHarmony was
chosen as the site that would be the target for analysis. eHarmony is a very popular dating site and is well known due to their numerous infomercials
and online advertisements and thus presents a great opportunity to examine the elements involved in a formal and well–designed user agreement.
Following the choosing of a site, a copy of the user agreement from eHarmony was obtained and given an initial review. This step acted as the first run
through of the agreement, which involved identifying possible legal issues in the clauses, highlighting important points form each clause, and gaining a
general understanding of the agreement. The agreement consisted of two separate documents titled "Privacy Policy" and "Terms of Service", each
outlining the obligations of the company and the customer respectively. In addition, an examination of the actual purpose and requirements of the
assignment was carried out. In this particular phase of the paper, the course outline was reviewed and the outline of the paper

full–time as a nanny for a family, and she reports in her demographic information that her family is together. Jaclyn mentions that her relationship with
her parents is very good, and she appears to be very thankful that she has an open, communicative relationship with her parents. She says that she can
bring anything to them and that they provide her with unconditional love and support, and that they push her to do her best in whatever she chooses to

average in extraversion, which according to her demographic information regarding her social circle could be accurate, as she does have close friends,
but her stress and anxiety could factor in where she does not open herself up as much to others outside of her social circle. She is average in terms of
her friendliness, gregariousness, and cheerfulness, which seems to point out that she is an overall nice person, but does not go over the top in this
regard with everyone she encounters, which is how the average person is. Her assertiveness is borderline average, which could suggest that her
anxiety causes her to not be completely assertive as she does not want to interfere with the norms of her surrounding environment. Her activity level is
extremely high, while her excitement seeking is low, which leads me to believe that she enjoys doing things, but does not enjoy adventuring outside of
her comfort zone. Overall, according to this assessment, she is average in the categories that define extraversion, but her anxiety could be causing her

Stocks On The Stock Market
There are thousands of stocks on the stock market. It can be a daunting task deciding which stocks to invest in. Typically stocks are broken into
two general categories: growth stocks and value stocks. Growth stocks are typically considered companies that are expected to increase at rates
above the average rate of the market. These investments typically do not pay any form of dividends, preferring to reinvest their earnings back into
projects with the hope of helping the company to develop and expand even further. Growth stocks do not immediately produce results; most of the
value is derived from the future earnings. In essence, you are investing in what the company will become instead of what the company is now.
Value stocks are companies that are or close to full maturity. There is not a lot of room for growth with this stocks. Because of this, these stocks
usually pay out dividends to make their investors happy. In essence, you are investing in what the company is now and what it will be in the future.
The tendency for most new investors is to go for the growth stocks, because they seem attractive and provide the most potential for returns. These are
the stocks that can soar up 100% in a year. While exciting, these stocks are also the ones that can plunge very quickly and cause panic in the market.
So what should you be doing? Look for undervalue stocks. Investing in undervalue stocks is the ticket to make great returns year after year. Investing in

Factors That Consider Implicit Feedback May Be Classified...
2.3 Related Study
Personalization strategies that consider implicit feedback may be classified into two main categories: document–based and concept–based.
Document–based strategies consider discovering user document preferences from the clickthrough information, to find out a ranking operator that
optimizes the user's browsing and clicking preferences on the retrieved documents. Joachims [2002] initially proposed extracting user clicking
preferences from the clickthrough information by assuming that a user would scan the search result list from top to bottom. the click preferences are
then utilized by a ranking SVM algorithmic rule [Joachims 2002] to find out a ranker that most closely fits the user's preferences. Tan et al. [2004] ...

Li, Kitsuregawa [2007] also proposed a similar adaptive approach based on user behaviors. Instead of using ODP as the taxonomy, Google Directory3
is used as the predefined taxonomy to construct user profiles.
In Li et al. [2007], independent models for long–term and short–term user preferences are proposed to compose the user profiles. The long–term
preferences are captured by using Google Directory, while the short–term preferences are determined from the user's document preferences (the most
frequently browsed documents).
More recently, Xu et al. [2007] proposed naturally separating client intrigued subjects from the client 's close to home archives (e.g. skimming
histories and messages). The extricated points are then sorted out into a progressive client profile (just called HUP in consequent dialog), which is to
rank the indexed lists as per the client 's topical needs.
Chuang and Chien [2004] proposed to cluster and organize users' queries into a hierarchical structure of topic classes. A Hierarchical Agglomerative
Clustering (HAC) [25] algorithm is first employed to construct a binary–tree cluster hierarchy. The binary–tree hierarchy is then partitioned in order to
create subhierarchies forming a multiway–tree cluster hierarchy like the hierarchical organization of Yahoo [6] and DMOZ [3].
Baeza–Yates et al. [2003] proposed a query clustering method that groups similar queries according to their semantics. The method creates a vector
representation Q for a query q,

Understanding The Environment Of Demographics
Demographic Environment
Understanding Demographics:
The Business Dictionary defines Demographics as "Socioeconomic characteristics of a population expressed statistically, such as age, sex, education
level, income level, marital status, occupation, religion, birth rate, death rate, average size of a family, average age at marriage, etc." Demographics
imply to people, people become customers, they eventually buy the products, and that is when the company really works.
From a business or marketing point of view, demographic data plays a very essential role in understanding people, their behaviour patterns, and their
interests or preferences. Collection and analysis of data is more often than not, the first step towards every business venture, expansion, and promotion.
It helps the retailers and marketers to segment the population and choose their target audience, which provides the basis for developing an attractive
product mix for their clientele or creating an appealing marketing campaign.
Demographic Segmentation:
One of the main reasons why demographic segmentation is the most popular form of segmenting the customer market is because majority of the
demographic data required to make business decisions is easily available in the form of census. Census is the official collection of data for every
member of a population. It is not just a count of individuals, but also a recording of various details of those individuals.
Demographic Segmentation is the method of dividing the

Introduction
Beginning in 1865, railroad tracks were mainly utilized for the luxury sleeping cars and transport of goods and materials across long distances. As the
purpose of train travel improved over the century, so did the material used for train tracks. The main material used in tracks is steel, and this is crack

different material such as wood or plastic. Plastic railroad tracks do not always possess the endurability to allow trains to function continuously.

Social Networking sites (SNS) give individuals the chance to friend individuals from their general system of relatives, colleagues, and different

Profile Based Personalized Web Search
We suggest a Profile–based personalized web search framework UPS (User customizable Privacy–preserving Search), for each query ac–cording to
user specified privacy requirements profile is generated. For hierarchical user pro–file we trust two conflicting metrics, namely personalization utility
and privacy risk, with its NP–hardness proved we formulate the problem of Profile–based personalized search as Risk Profile Generalization.
With the help of two greedy algorithms, namely GreedyIL and GreedyDP, we generate the expected search result, greedy algorithms support runtime
profiling. While the former tries to maximize the discriminating power (DP), the latter attempts to minimize the in–formation loss (IL). By exploiting a
number of heuristics, GreedyIL outperforms GreedyDP significantly.
For the client to decide whether to personalize a query in UPS we provide an inexpensive mechanism. Before each runtime profiling this decision can
be made to improve the stability of the search results while avoid the needless exposure of the profile.

Financial Aid in Education Essay
Financial Aid in Education
A guy in $50,000 of debt has got to be irresponsible with his money right? Actually, it is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands
of college students around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s impersonal financial aid policies. The federal
government?s current system has too many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help. The federal government should
change its financial aid policies to take several more factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into account.

The federal government does not use this application for aid. The CSS Profile is a service provided by The College Board. It includes many more
factors such as the age of the parents, house payments, and car payments. Mostly expensive private universities use the CSS Profile because their
students have much more financial need.
The current system does a fairly decent job of predicting the amount of aid needed assuming both the parents and the student are paying for the
student?s education. The big problem with the system is that not all parents help pay for their child?s education. According to the current system, the
student would have to cover the expected contribution from their parents as well as their own expected contribution should their parents decide not to
help foot the bill. For example, if a student from a middle class family which is earning $70,000 a year. Assuming the student was earning $3,000, and
that student wanted to attend Duke University, approximately $33,000 a year, the family would be expected to pay $13,641 of the bill for each year2.
If the parents choose not to help the student pay, then it would be the student?s responsibility to pay every bit of the $13,641. How many students
graduating high school can afford that? I think that this factor could quite possibly be the biggest reason that students think they cannot afford college.
Another problem is that the current system actually punishes students for saving their

OFFENDER PROFILING
According to the article, offender profiling is a technique for identifying the personality and behavioral features of an offender based on an analysis of
he/she committed. There are two types of offender profiling: inductive and deductive profiling. Inductive profiling technique uses an offender profiling
from what is known about other offenders (criminals). Deductive profiling deals with the criminal's evidence relating to him/her. The aim of the
research was to examine the utility of offender profiles. To evaluate if the offender profiles with an ambiguous profile will demystify the statements to
make them well suited to a potential suspect. Offender profiles have been useful to prioritize suspects in ongoing investigations; however there have
been criticisms on profiling. Based on Alison et al., stated that after the study, they generalized that both participants that received genuine and bogus
suspects had no significant differences, this correspond well with Barnum– type effect. Therefore, using offender profiles as an investigative tool can
be highly suspicious. The study proposed that, like the participants in the early Barnum studies, individuals might have similar results. The correlation
between participants' interpretation of generic personality sketches and officers potential reinterpretation, suggest that police will have a hard time to

Social Media Profiles As An Invasion Of Privacy
One of the most highly debated issues in the business world is the use of social media profiles as a determining factor in the hiring process. Some
people feel that using someone's social media profile is an invasion of privacy because it uses something from their personal life to determine their
professional success. As long as the company follows some basic guidelines I believe there is nothing wrong with them looking into the profiles of their
potential employees. It is important to point out that while looking at many of the different ethical ideologies, this practice does not violate the
ethical conducts. Teleologists would agree that looking into someones profile will ensure that you are hiring someone who will conduct themselves
in a proper manner. Therefore, the means of looking into their personal lives justifies the ends in which you hire a professional with good character.
Deontologists would likely agree that as long as the company does not try to find loop holes to see into protected accounts that they are respecting
the rights of the individual and therefore are not being unethical. I believe that it is reasonable for a company to use social media profiles as a basis
for hiring because everything posted on the internet is public domain, it allows them to get an understanding of who the potential client is, and you
want to ensure that you are hiring someone who fits in to your company. I believe that it is reasonable to use a potential employee's social media

The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the basement, which led to the crowd being forced to

hold the party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly marked, but it was a lack of actually signs
used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the event was
friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was
an attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair
access would have been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be
attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50–60 attendees throughout the course of the event. Based on the information provided by
the event planner, there was probably 15 more guest than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused the flow of the

Does online social networking hinder the development of...
The 21st century has seen the internet transformed into a tool that has made communication easier and more accessible. This transformation came
about side by side with ideas of online social networks that would enable the interaction of citizens of different countries. Teenagers, being the main
players of the online generation, have been caught up in the mix of online social networks as they have grown into a period whereby technology has
revolutionized the way people go about their daily activities. However, due to the excessive amount of time spent on these networks and the online
freedom that teenagers have, granted from social networking sites, they are left prone to negative effects on their development. For the purposes of this

Furthermore, from a 2010 nationwide survey of more than 1000 girls aged 14–17 conducted by Girl Scouts of America, girls with low self esteem
admitted that their online image did not match their real image and were more likely to claim that they portrayed it as 'sexy' (Muscari). Therefore,
online social networking use should be monitored primarily on the creation of user identities to prevent teenagers from developing exaggerated
identities which do not match who they really are. Furthermore, the exaggeration of personalities may lead to confusion between who a teenager
really is and who he/she portrays to the online realm. The terms of service of these online social networks require a user to be age 13 or above
(Facebook Terms of service). Erik Erikson, a developmental psychologist who studied identity formation argues that "this age correlates with the stage
of identity versus identity confusion [whereby] teenagers seek to find out who they are, what they are all about, and where they are going in life"
(Cowie). This confusion could be detrimental to the development of teenagers as it might lead to identity crises or lack of identity and other types of
depression diseases associated with it. Thus, online social networks hinder adolescent identity formation because they allow them to exaggerate their
personalities and form new identities which can lead to identity confusion and associated disorders. Secondly, without supervision, the

What Is 4. 1 Program Walkthrough?

4.1 Program Walkthrough
This project involved creating an application using the Java Framework. This language was chosen because of the rich support library that is available
for making web API call, utilizing the NaГЇve Bayes categorizer, as well as integrating with CouchDB.
When the program is launched, the user is prompted to indicate if he is a new or an existing user. If he is a new user, he must provide ausername. Thus,
on the next execution of the program, the user is able to retrieve his previously stored information. The system first performs a check to make sure
another user with the same username does not exist. If a user does exist, the user returns to the initial prompt. On initial "login" the user is ... Show more

The information that is retrieved is determined by the current temperature. As described in section 3.3, the temperature is categorized. The program
does a smoothing operation by choosing the current temperature category plus or minus one in order to provide for an increased accuracy of the user's
preference based on the current temperature while considering similar temperatures.
This location information is parsed and standardized through the Natural Language Processing of lemmatization before it is passed on to the NaГЇve
Bayes algorithm. As the user visits additional places and provides additional input the algorithm can do a better job of sorting the information.
Besides looking at the places the user chose not to go to, the program also keeps track of the user's preference based on the current weather. As
described in section 3.3, the program smooths the weather categories by looking at the surrounding categories.
The data is sorted using the average of the Google and Yelp rankings for a location. In addition, if the NaГЇve Bayes algorithm categorizes a location as
interesting to the user, an additional two points plus the calculated NaГЇve Bayes probability (a number between 0 and 1) that the place is positive are
added to the average Internet user rating. Similarly, if the NaГЇve Bayes algorithm categorizes the location as something the user would not want to
visit, two points and the NaГЇve Bayes probability are subtracted from the rating. The data is then

Courage In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
As human beings, we live by our morals, outlining our ethical principles in distinguishing what is right from what is wrong. Our morals define who we
are as a person, how we behave, how we communicate, and how we manage challenging situations. As stated by President John F. Kennedy, "a man
does what he must – in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures – and that is the basis of all human morality"
(225). In order to achieve and portray one's morals and ethical principles regardless of the circumstances, a person must portray courage. As Ernest
Hemingway defined it, "Grace under pressure (Kennedy 1)." According to the Merriam–Webster dictionary, courage is the "mental or moral strength to
venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty." In thePulitzer Prize winning book Profiles in Courage, written on 1957 by John F. Kennedy
, some of the greatest deeds of political courage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are discussed through the accounts of the historical events that
inspired such acts and the consequences of those brave enough to carry them out. The author of the award winning memoir The Glass Castle,
Jeannette Walls, could not be considered a candidate for John F. Kennedy's Profile in Courage Award because of the failure to fulfill of the
requirements of the award, the type of courage portrayed, and the limited sphere of influence.

Should Community College Be Free?
Should Community college be free? I think that community college should not be free. The reason why is because with community college being
free the student may be more interested in going to community college for 2 years and go straight to your favorite workforce after receiving your
certificate or diploma from the school. While it does work like that the student may be blinded by the fact that by only having two years of
experience in your workforce it may not get you very far in life. The other reason is that the cost of a community college could be covered with a
Pell grant easily! There is no reason for a student to have free community college if the cost could be covered with a Pell grant, and at the end the
students will also have a little extra to spend on her or himself. My last reason on why community college should not be free is because of the cost
of paying for each and every student to go to college. It isn't cheap thats for sure, and the cost of doing this is money we do not currently have right
now. This is why I think community college should not be free. If student's go to community college for free it will hurt the students way more than
anything else. Yes having money for the school will help pay for the student's books or housing but what about the colleges class size? There is only
so much that money could do for the students future. As stated by Deborah Santiago "Affordability doesn't help if a student can't get into the right class

The Southwest Blackout Of 2003
The Northeast blackout of 2003 was one of the most critical blackouts in the history which affected more than 50 million people in both the United
States and Canada. The main cause of this disaster was a software bug in the energy management system used by FirstEnergy Corporation, located
in Akron, Ohio. This is a perfect example of poor quality coding may led to a big disaster. For a perfectly planned power grid, the power generation of
each region is matched with the power consumption within this region, so that the power lines will always carry a reasonable workload. If one power
line fails to work, other parallel lines would have to carry extra power, which is bad for safety and may lead to fire. The power system operators are the

And the generating plant don't know it either. Then, because the workload was assigned to other lines, several other lines in the region also declined to
work for self–protection, and the whole Ohio and Michigan got blackout short after. The company and other government departments noticed the
problem, but hardly have anything to do at the time. The cascading effect is already unstoppable. Each generating plant can only separate their
generators from the power grid to prevent the large current destroy their generators. So almost all the generating plants in northeastern United States
and Ontario went offline, and the whole region got blackout. This happened in only 2 hours. Water pumps cannot work without power supply, so
some areas also have water supply problem. And other services like public transportation (e.g. TTC streetcars), communication, and media (radio and
TV stations) also affected. Some areas recovered from the blackout the same night, but most areas did not get power back until August 16th, two days
after the accident. Both United States government and Canada government were criticized, and they adopted some policy to prevent future blackouts
after it. Following the blackout, a thorough investigation of the energy control system was taken. GE's developers looked through millions of lines of
code and log to find the bug, and it them weeks to finally locate the bug. The bug is known as a "race condition" in computer science,

Yangon Technological Universtiy, Insein Township,Yangon, Myanmar
Abstract
This paper presents a Dynamic Programming (DP) method based an algorithm to solve the Unit Commitment (UC) scheduling of the thermal
generation units in Yangon. Electricity demands are in its peak in Yangon, it has become very difficult for operators to fulfill the demand in the present.
The main objective of Unit Commitment is to determine a minimum cost turn–on and turn–off schedule of a set of electrical power generating units to
meet a load demand while satisfying a set of operational constraints. The total production costs include fuel, startup, shutdown, and no–load costs.
There are many conventional and evolutionary programming methods used for solving the unit commitment problem. Dynamic programming method
is one of the successful approaches to unit commitment problem. Dynamic Programming has many advantages over the enumeration scheme, the chief
advantage being a reduction in the dimensionality of the problem. It is one of the refined algorithm design standards and is powerful tool which yields
definitive algorithm for various types of optimization problems. To implement the unit commitment problem into an optimization program, the
MATLABВ® software is used.

Background And Motivation On Online Social Networks
Background and Motivation:
Another form of attack on online social networks is the Social Link Disclosure based attacks, in which the goal of an attacker is to obtain knowledge
of a significant fraction of the links in the network. The value of participating in an online social network for a user lies majorly in the ability to
leverage the structure of the social network graph. But, knowledge of this social graph by parties other than the service provider paves the way for
powerful data mining, some of which may not be desirable to the users. The ability to conduct these analyses on social networks is becoming
increasingly important in the data mining, database and theoretical computer science communities [4.32]. Since nodes in social ... Show more content

To analyse the relationship between the lookahead provided by the network provider and the number of user accounts required to subvert a portion of
the network. Analyze the usage of weighted graphs to define and/or augment a link structure, that makes the structure more robust and resilient to
attacks. To compare the two solutions and conclude on the pros and cons of both.
Results:
Social Link Disclosure–based Attack: Links refer to the connections between vertices in a network. In the context of online social networks, links are
the connections between users of the network. But not all information related to these connections are suitable to be disclosed to the public.
Goal of the Attack: Social link disclosure–based attacks aim at disclosing such sensitive information related to the links of the social network, and
thereby discover the link structure of the network. Although online social networks are a new domain with a not–so–large research information base ,
knowledge regarding the structure of the network enables the attacker to analyze the network using the powerful graph mining algorithms that have
existed for centuries and have an extremely rich research information base.
There are several approaches to deal with this problem. In this survey, we consider two approaches to Privacy–Preserving Link Analysis. One, by
limiting the lookahead of the interface of an online social network, as suggested by [ ]. Two, by

Effectiveness of Body Image Portrayal in Different...
What many women think when they see a Victoria's Secret advertisement on TV is to put the chocolate down and hit the gym. Why is this? To be
beautiful and fit is a prerequisite to becoming a model for their various lingerie campaigns. People all around the world tune in to watch the annual
Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and see their "Angels" strut down the walkway inlingerie. In today's society, being thin is considered attractive and
acceptable–what the ideal woman should look like. While no one wishes to think him or herself vain, most people are affected by what the media
portrays as a standard for beauty.
This does not simply affect adolescents, but older generations as well. A Harvard study showed that "up to two thirds of underweight 12–year–old girls
considered themselves to be too fat" (Fox). The media portrays this standard of beauty as adequate and attainable. When one passes by the
Victoria's Secret store and glances at the massive posters of a beautiful model, he or she probably admires the perfection. But is it a fair
representation of the average American woman? No. Advertisements such as Victoria's Secret have been criticized for projecting an unrealistic image
of what women should look like to females of all ages. Ads like Victoria's Secret seem to target college age women. I will analyze two advertisements,

This statement suggests that over the very long term that value investing would be best.
Value or Growth Investing– My Preference Based on my research of the articles listed in my references, I would have to say that I would prefer to
invest in a mix of both value and growth stocks. As an investor who does not have access to large amounts of capital, it simply makes more sense to
purchase value stocks at a lower price. However, recent trends suggest that growth stocks are currently in the lead (Bresiger, 2014) so that would
influence me to split my investment amongst both styles.
Example of a Successful Value Investor As referenced earlier in this essay, Bruce Berkowitz is described as a value investor. In fact, he has been
considered one of the top value investors and he won Institutional Investor's 2014 Money Manager of the Year award as was indicated in the article,

Introduction:
Social networks are largely organized around users, unlike the web: The web is organized around the content. The participating users join a network,
publish their profile and content about themselves and links are usually created to other users with whom they connect with. This will result in a social
network providing a foundation for maintaining social relationships by finding other people with similar interests, for locating content that has been
endorsed by other users. Facebook, Youtube,Orkut, Flickr, MySpace, Cyworld, LiveJournal etc have exploded in popularity at some point and some of
them still continue to remain popular. Similar to these, some online companies deal with buying and selling of products proved to be very successful
and have contributed a lot to the success of online networking. Product reviews on Amazon and the reputation mechanism of Ebay contributed to the
growth structure of online social networks. Owing to these success stories, social networking has become a subject for many start–up companies
offering promising return on interest.

The House by The Railroad
Edward Hopper is a renowned American painter. In the poem "the house by the Railroad," he tries to portray a picture of a house erected beside the
railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more than what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the viewer's
world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings, the more difficult it becomes. Hopper's artistic vision was in
line with his view of the contemporary world and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress leaves behind an agrarian
society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life.
In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the foreground. There is a baresky behind the house with no
secondary objects in the immediate surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and its relationship
with its environment.
This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. Life in
this country is made of pure isolation in nature. The presentation of the train cutting across the land conveys how the train serves those in the country
different from those in the city.
In the use of light to depict the mood of the situation, Hopper uses intense light

Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye
At least once in someone's lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill
these said duties in such ways that it ends up becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely, or
believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one's individuality connect with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger's
novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to his peculiar
attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in. Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that
Salinger purposely wrote this novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti–social behavior to the
readers through a first–person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden's alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly
tries forming relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are infuriated/uninterested with his
conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of Holden's alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously,
when intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden exactly experiences. Throughout

Imagery And Symbolism In Father And I By Paar Lagerqvist

  • 1. Imagery And Symbolism In Father And I By Paar Lagerqvist The short story is about a Sunday walk in the country taken by a young boy and his father. Written in first person, it appears simple in nature, but it is actually a more complex story that is depicted by the author. In his story, " Father and I", Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery and symbolism to say that although as children we have unwavering faith in our parents and that our world basically revolves around them, at some point as we grow, we realize that there is more to life than this sheltered world. The story begins on a perfect, bright Sunday afternoon. A father and son wave goodbye to the mother who is preparing supper, and they head into the woods to enjoy the sounds of the birds and adventure along the railroad tracks. As the young boy and his father are admiring nature, a train comes rushing along the tracks. His father saluted the familiar conductor and settled back into the peacefulness of the afternoon. As dusk begins to fall, the child becomes uneasy about being in the darkening woods. The young boy's fear grows, but his father remains calm and continues on. Then out of nowhere a mighty roar of a black train tore through the abyss startling the two out of their quiet state. The train pierced the night at a frantic speed and the father tells his son that he did not recognize the driver. At this moment, the boy's perspective on his father and life in general forever changes. In the exposition of the story, Paar Lagerqvist uses imagery to create a perfect day ... • 2. Narrative Speech : A Graduation Speech? "Attention, a 19 year old boy has gone missing whilst training since 12:00pm." The radio went silent, "Mum that has happened to other people before hasn't it?" asked 18 year old Jane Smith. " Yes, it happens a few times each year. No one has ever found them." replied her mum. "OK! Jane and Max you two better be ready because we have to go now. "Coming!" yelled Max's deep voice. The four of them walked out of the squeaky door and walked through all the dust to find the ceremony. "I'm glad to leave this old worn out house" Max sighed. "But it is 2095, it doesn't get much better than this and you're about to find out Max" his dad David quickly replied. The security guards opened up the gate and let them enter the fenced off area that holds the local hall. "Wow there are quite a lot of people here" exclaimed Jane. " The only people here are 18 year olds and their parents to say goodbye" Her mother replied "how often will we see you after this graduation ceremony?" Jane questioned, brushing her long blonde hair between her fingers. Her father sighed "You aren't supposed to see us again because after this you get sent off to a group called 'Diamonds' and that group consists of people from age 18 – 21 who have training sessions almost every day and after you turn 21 there are still four more age groups and by the time you're old enough to be in age group 50+ we might not even be around." The silence fell and they slowly entered the hall processing what was said. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Provisions Of Real And Imaginary Relationships Everyone needs a friend, and when some children do not have friends it is hard for them to socially mature. When imaginary companions are created, it helps develop children's social interactions. Children learn how to interact with others and realize how others could feel emotionally in certain situations. There is a misconceptualization that children with imaginary companions are lonely and do not do well in social situations. Research has showed that children with imaginary companions score higher on IQ tests and do better in social situations. Literature shows that imaginary companions are found everywhere. Adults even have imaginary conversations. Having an imaginary companion is not a crime and should be encouraged among young children. Are Imaginary Relationships Based on Real Ones? In the article, "Social Provisions of Real and Imaginary Relationships in Early Childhood" Gleason states that some psychologist believe that imaginary companions are based on real relationships children have, and that children tend to be more emotionally invested in their imaginary companions compared to friends or family members. Children imagine conflicts usually between themselves and their imaginary companions and the way the child reacts to such difficulties might be reflective of how she or he understands the workings of real relationships (Gleason, 980). Usually, specific relationships have certain citeria that has to be met in order for it to to be considered a real relationship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sample Resume : The Lses Purchase Bulk Power The LSEs purchase bulk power in the wholesale power market each day in order to meet the customer demand (load) in a downstream retail market. The LSEs in our model do not engage in production or sale activities in the wholesale power market and hence LSEs purchase power only from Generators and not from each other. The LSEs are modeled to submit daily load profiles into the Day–Ahead Market as their demand bids without strategic learning. Each LSE submits a daily load profile into the day–ahead market for day D+1 at the beginning of each day D which indicates the real power demand (in MWs) for each of 24 successive hours H. Configuration of ISO: The activities of the ISO during a typical day D is shown below: The ISO in our model during each day D determines a schedule of optimal power commitments (LMPs) for each hour of the Day–Ahead Market in day D+1 conditional to Generator reported supply offers, LSE reported demand bids, branch flows limits, and nodal balance constraints ensuring supply equals demand (load) at each transmission grid node. The resulting optimization problem is known as a bid–based AC optimal power flow (OPF) problem. As typically done in actual markets, we approximate this bid–based AC OPF problem by means of a simpler bid–based DC OPF problem where the real power constraints are linearized and reactive power constraints are ignored to get a strictly convex quadratic programming problem. DCOPF Formulation: The objective function of the optimal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Proposal Part B Essays The effect of a nursing intervention on promoting self–care ability in breast cancer patients after breast surgery Background Self–care is one of the most important parts in post–operative patients' further life and health recovery. Specific nursing intervention in the post–operative period is essential in promoting healing and improving patient's quality of life. The purpose of this research is to analyse the effect of a nurse–directed intervention on post–operative self–care ability in breast cancer patients to find out the relationship between a nurse–directed intervention and self–care agency variables. A three–month quantitative quasi–experimental design will be performed using non–random sample of 60 participants. The intervention... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over a period of three months, all patients who underwent breast surgery in the general surgery department during this time will be invited in the study. The population will comprise two groups of participants: a sample of participants who will be provided nursing interventions (an intervention group, 30 women) and a sample of those who will be provided standard nursing care (a control group, 30 women). As far as possible, the two groups will be of similar situation and parity. Recruited registered nurses in the surgery department will be instructed, and will be responsible for recruiting participants when patients finish operation at least for 10 days. Patients will be interviewed to make sure that they are eligible for the study, and will be asked about their demographic information. The process of this study will be explained to them. They also will be advised that they may or may not be provided interventions depending on which group they are assigned to. Information from hospital records and the initial interviews will be used for selecting participants for this study. All of the patients' demographic information will be protected. Patients who satisfied the following inclusion criteria will be included into the sample: Patient (female) has had breast surgery at least for 10 days Patient is adult, the age ranges from 18–80 years old Patient has ... • 7. possible choices: eHarmony, Match.com, and Christian Mingle. Three ideas were brought forth regarding which site to analyse in order to determine which sites could potentially hold more issues and which site had sufficient content to be analyzed effectively. Next in the process, eHarmony was chosen as the site that would be the target for analysis. eHarmony is a very popular dating site and is well known due to their numerous infomercials and online advertisements and thus presents a great opportunity to examine the elements involved in a formal and well–designed user agreement. Following the choosing of a site, a copy of the user agreement from eHarmony was obtained and given an initial review. This step acted as the first run through of the agreement, which involved identifying possible legal issues in the clauses, highlighting important points form each clause, and gaining a general understanding of the agreement. The agreement consisted of two separate documents titled "Privacy Policy" and "Terms of Service", each outlining the obligations of the company and the customer respectively. In addition, an examination of the actual purpose and requirements of the assignment was carried out. She works full–time as a nanny for a family, and she reports in her demographic information that her family is together. Jaclyn mentions that her relationship with her parents is very good, and she appears to be very thankful that she has an open, communicative relationship with her parents. She says that she can bring anything to them and that they provide her with unconditional love and support, and that they push her to do her best in whatever she chooses to take on in her life. As mentioned, she took the IPIP–NEO online shortened version of the assessment in the comfort of her apartment. Her results mentioned that she is average in extraversion, which according to her demographic information regarding her social circle could be accurate, as she does have close friends, but her stress and anxiety could factor in where she does not open herself up as much to others outside of her social circle. She is average in terms of her friendliness, gregariousness, and cheerfulness, which seems to point out that she is an overall nice person, but does not go over the top in this regard with everyone she encounters, which is how the average person is. Her assertiveness is borderline average, which could suggest that her anxiety causes her to not be completely assertive as she does not want to interfere with the norms of her surrounding environment. Her activity level is extremely high, while her excitement seeking is low, which leads me to believe that she enjoys doing things, but does not enjoy adventuring outside of her comfort zone. • 10. Stocks On The Stock Market There are thousands of stocks on the stock market. It can be a daunting task deciding which stocks to invest in. Typically stocks are broken into two general categories: growth stocks and value stocks. Growth stocks are typically considered companies that are expected to increase at rates above the average rate of the market. These investments typically do not pay any form of dividends, preferring to reinvest their earnings back into projects with the hope of helping the company to develop and expand even further. Growth stocks do not immediately produce results; most of the value is derived from the future earnings. In essence, you are investing in what the company will become instead of what the company is now. Value stocks are companies that are or close to full maturity. There is not a lot of room for growth with this stocks. Because of this, these stocks usually pay out dividends to make their investors happy. In essence, you are investing in what the company is now and what it will be in the future. The tendency for most new investors is to go for the growth stocks, because they seem attractive and provide the most potential for returns. These are the stocks that can soar up 100% in a year. While exciting, these stocks are also the ones that can plunge very quickly and cause panic in the market. So what should you be doing? Look for undervalue stocks. • 11. Factors That Consider Implicit Feedback May Be Classified... 2.3 Related Study Personalization strategies that consider implicit feedback may be classified into two main categories: document–based and concept–based. Document–based strategies consider discovering user document preferences from the clickthrough information, to find out a ranking operator that optimizes the user's browsing and clicking preferences on the retrieved documents. Joachims [2002] initially proposed extracting user clicking preferences from the clickthrough information by assuming that a user would scan the search result list from top to bottom. the click preferences are then utilized by a ranking SVM algorithmic rule [Joachims 2002] to find out a ranker that most closely fits the user's preferences. Instead of using ODP as the taxonomy, Google Directory3 is used as the predefined taxonomy to construct user profiles. In Li et al. [2007], independent models for long–term and short–term user preferences are proposed to compose the user profiles. The long–term preferences are captured by using Google Directory, while the short–term preferences are determined from the user's document preferences (the most frequently browsed documents). More recently, Xu et al. [2007] proposed naturally separating client intrigued subjects from the client 's close to home archives (e.g. skimming histories and messages). The extricated points are then sorted out into a progressive client profile (just called HUP in consequent dialog), which is to rank the indexed lists as per the client 's topical needs. Chuang and Chien [2004] proposed to cluster and organize users' queries into a hierarchical structure of topic classes. A Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) [25] algorithm is first employed to construct a binary–tree cluster hierarchy. The binary–tree hierarchy is then partitioned in order to create subhierarchies forming a multiway–tree cluster hierarchy like the hierarchical organization of Yahoo [6] and DMOZ [3]. The reason why is because with community college being free the student may be more interested in going to community college for 2 years and go straight to your favorite workforce after receiving your certificate or diploma from the school. While it does work like that the student may be blinded by the fact that by only having two years of experience in your workforce it may not get you very far in life. The other reason is that the cost of a community college could be covered with a Pell grant easily! There is no reason for a student to have free community college if the cost could be covered with a Pell grant, and at the end the students will also have a little extra to spend on her or himself. For a perfectly planned power grid, the power generation of each region is matched with the power consumption within this region, so that the power lines will always carry a reasonable workload. Dynamic Programming Method Approach to Unit Commitment for Electricity Generation Schedule in Yangon Division Khine Khine Mon*, Than Zaw Htwe*, Soe Soe Ei Aung* Department of Electrical Power Engineering,Yangon Technological Universtiy Yangon Technological Universtiy, Insein Township,Yangon, Myanmar Abstract This paper presents a Dynamic Programming (DP) method based an algorithm to solve the Unit Commitment (UC) scheduling of the thermal generation units in Yangon. Electricity demands are in its peak in Yangon, it has become very difficult for operators to fulfill the demand in the present. The main objective of Unit Commitment is to determine a minimum cost turn–on and turn–off schedule of a set of electrical power generating units to meet a load demand while satisfying a set of operational constraints. The total production costs include fuel, startup, shutdown, and no–load costs. There are many conventional and evolutionary programming methods used for solving the unit commitment problem. Dynamic programming method is one of the successful approaches to unit commitment problem. Dynamic Programming has many advantages over the enumeration scheme, the chief advantage being a reduction in the dimensionality of the problem. It is one of the refined algorithm design standards and is powerful tool which yields definitive algorithm for various types of optimization problems. To implement the unit commitment problem into an optimization program, the MATLABВ® software is used. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Background And Motivation On Online Social Networks Background and Motivation: Another form of attack on online social networks is the Social Link Disclosure based attacks, in which the goal of an attacker is to obtain knowledge of a significant fraction of the links in the network. The value of participating in an online social network for a user lies majorly in the ability to leverage the structure of the social network graph. But, knowledge of this social graph by parties other than the service provider paves the way for powerful data mining, some of which may not be desirable to the users. The ability to conduct these analyses on social networks is becoming increasingly important in the data mining, database and theoretical computer science communities [4.32]. Since nodes in social ... To analyse the relationship between the lookahead provided by the network provider and the number of user accounts required to subvert a portion of the network. Analyze the usage of weighted graphs to define and/or augment a link structure, that makes the structure more robust and resilient to attacks. To compare the two solutions and conclude on the pros and cons of both. Results: Social Link Disclosure–based Attack: Links refer to the connections between vertices in a network. In the context of online social networks, links are the connections between users of the network. But not all information related to these connections are suitable to be disclosed to the public. Goal of the Attack: Social link disclosure–based attacks aim at disclosing such sensitive information related to the links of the social network, and thereby discover the link structure of the network. Although online social networks are a new domain with a not–so–large research information base , knowledge regarding the structure of the network enables the attacker to analyze the network using the powerful graph mining algorithms that have existed for centuries and have an extremely rich research information base. There are several approaches to deal with this problem. In this survey, we consider two approaches to Privacy–Preserving Link Analysis. One, by limiting the lookahead of the interface of an online social network, as suggested by [ ]. Two, by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In today's society, being thin is considered attractive and acceptable–what the ideal woman should look like. While no one wishes to think him or herself vain, most people are affected by what the media portrays as a standard for beauty. This does not simply affect adolescents, but older generations as well. A Harvard study showed that "up to two thirds of underweight 12–year–old girls considered themselves to be too fat" (Fox). The media portrays this standard of beauty as adequate and attainable. When one passes by the Victoria's Secret store and glances at the massive posters of a beautiful model, he or she probably admires the perfection. But is it a fair representation of the average American woman? No. Advertisements such as Victoria's Secret have been criticized for projecting an unrealistic image of what women should look like to females of all ages. Value or Growth Investing– My Preference Based on my research of the articles listed in my references, I would have to say that I would prefer to invest in a mix of both value and growth stocks. As an investor who does not have access to large amounts of capital, it simply makes more sense to purchase value stocks at a lower price. However, recent trends suggest that growth stocks are currently in the lead (Bresiger, 2014) so that would influence me to split my investment amongst both styles. Example of a Successful Value Investor As referenced earlier in this essay, Bruce Berkowitz is described as a value investor. In fact, he has been considered one of the top value investors and he won Institutional Investor's 2014 Money Manager of the Year award as was indicated in the article, STOCK CHARACTER Value investor Bruce Berkowitz profits by sticking to his convictions (Segal, 2013). He won this title through value investments he made in 2011 with Bank of America and AIG. • 40. Analysis Of The House By The Railroad Surname 6 Name Professor's Name Course Date The House by The Railroad Edward Hopper is a renowned American painter. In the poem "the house by the Railroad," he tries to portray a picture of a house erected beside the railroad. This poem seems to bear a lot more than what its simple title indicates. He has used the railroad to emphasize the rift between the viewer's world and the picture space. The more one tries to penetrate the depths of his paintings, the more difficult it becomes. Hopper's artistic vision was in line with his view of the contemporary world and nature. This piece of art symbolizes loss that is felt when present progress leaves behind an agrarian society the central theme being the Alienation of modern life. In this picture, Victorian style house stands alone in the field. A railroad track cuts through the foreground. There is a baresky behind the house with no secondary objects in the immediate surroundings of the building. this enables us to keenly focus on the articulation of the building and its relationship with its environment. This picture can be broken down into two basics: the house and the train line. However, this is not really what Hopper is trying to convey to us. Life in this country is made of pure isolation in nature. The presentation of the train cutting across the land conveys how the train serves those in the country different from those in the city. In the use of light to depict the mood of the situation, Hopper uses intense light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye At least once in someone's lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill these said duties in such ways that it ends up becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely, or believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one's individuality connect with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger's novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to his peculiar attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in. Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that Salinger purposely wrote this novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti–social behavior to the readers through a first–person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden's alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly tries forming relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are infuriated/uninterested with his conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of Holden's alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously, when intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden exactly experiences. Throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
