Moses Dbq Questions And Answers
Moses helped the Hebrews a lot. With the many things he did, he got them out of Egypt. In my
perspective, if I was a Hebrew slave, I would follow Moses out of Egypt. I would follow Moses out
of Egypt because the Hebrews were slaves. Moses had the power of God, along with the Ten
Commandments. I would want to avoid the plagues.
To begin with, one reason I would follow Moses out of Egypt is because the Hebrews were slaves.
For instance, the Hebrews were oppressed. According to Document 2, it tells us that Moses saw a
Hebrew slave being mistreated. This means that the slaves were mistreated while being in Egypt.
Document 2 supports my reason because it tells us that an innocent slave was being wronged.
In addition, I would choose to follow Moses

Case Study Of Narayana Hrudayalaya
In 2001, Dr. Devi Shetty founded Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore with a mission to take
affordable health care to the people. What started as a 280 bed hospital then has, in the last 15 years
grown to become a 32 hospitals network with 6,498 beds across 20 cities employing 15,262 people
and 1,861 doctors. It has so far performed over 100,000 cardiac surgeries and 250,000 cath lab
procedures. The group performs 150 major surgeries (including 44 cardiac surgeries) daily. It
treats 2 million patients every year and perform 300 surgeries daily. About 12 per cent of all
cardiac surgeries done in the country are performed at its hospitals and 50 per cent of its patients
are from the economically weaker sections.
Narayana Hrudayalaya has been able to bring down the cost of heart surgery to the equivalent of
USD 1,400 to 1,500 .Their target is to bring this down to $800.
Approximately 40 per cent of patients pay a reasonable price for their treatment, a small percentage
those who want the comforts of private rooms pay a premium, a majority pays less than the market
rate and 10 to 20 per cent pay virtually nothing. For the indigent patients, the hospital s charitable
trust raises money to help compensate for the material costs of their treatment, thus, dissociating
health care from affluence. 40 60% of pediatric heart surgeries are done free of cost. ... Show more

were willing to supply these at Rs. 5,000 per surgery against the Rs. 2,000 that Narayana

the manufacture of these surgical essentials. Today, Amaryllis manufactures these using locally
available labor and supplies them at Rs. 850 to 900 per surgery. The company is in the process of
getting international quality certification that will enable it to export these as

Data Preparation And Quality Of Data Essay
Introduction Data gathering methods are often loosely controlled, resulting in out of range values
(e.g., Income: 100), impossible data combinations (e.g., Gender: Male, Pregnant: Yes), missing
values, etc. Analyzing data that has not been carefully screened for such problems can produce
misleading results. Thus, the representation and quality of data is first and foremost before running
an analysis. If there is much irrelevant and redundant information present or noisy and unreliable
data, then knowledge discovery during the training phase is more difficult. Data preparation and
filtering steps can take considerable amount of processing time. Data pre processing includes
cleaning, normalization, transformation, feature extraction and selection, etc. The product of data
pre processing is the final training set. Data Pre processing Methods Raw data is highly
susceptible to noise, missing values, and inconsistency. In order to help improve the quality of the
data and, consequently of the results, raw data is pre processed. Data preprocessing is one of the
most critical steps in data analysis which deals with the preparation and transformation of the initial
dataset. Data preprocessing methods are divided into following categories: пѓ Data Cleaning
пѓ Data Integration пѓ Data Transformation пѓ Data Reduction Data Cleaning Data that is to be
analyzed can be incomplete (lacking attribute values or certain attributes of interest, or containing
only aggregate data), noisy

Proposed Network Solution for Worldwide Advertising, Inc....
At the core of any successful business is a functioning, well organized network. The design of
that network can be a daunting task for even the most skilled of Information Technology and
Networking Professionals. To make that task more manageable it s easier to divide it up into the
key components needed to implement a successful network design. In this proposal we will go
through those key areas and understand the needs of Worldwide Advertising Inc. and some of the
suggested solutions specific to the organization.Deployment and Server Editions Server Editions

Beyond that server roles include things like managing the company email and website, print
services, backups and Active Directory. Each of our locations will have a physical presence so
determining the best roles to deploy at each location will take some careful consideration. Server
roles are the things a particular server does like Files Services, Email Services, or Active
Directory. Most of the critical roles will need to be installed on the equipment at the main office
in Los Angeles but since we have a functioning office in New York some server roles might need
to be replicated at that location to provide functionality for the network. Server Locations
Although the company could operate normally with all of the physical server equipment being
located in one of the two locations based on the budget we would recommend having some
equipment at both locations. The Los Angeles is clearly the primary location as most of the staff
including IT will be located there but by having some redundancy at the New York location we
could provide a much higher level of availability. This means that an outage or breach of security
at the Los Angeles location could be minimized since we could transition to the New York
equipment as the primary. These redundancies are extremely critical in our line of work. We can t
afford to lose creative data that could take weeks

Biochemical Test E. Coli
I had discovered that my unknown microbe is Escherichia coli (E. coli). After performing various
biochemical tests E. coli seemed to fit my microbe the best with only having two misguided
biochemical tests that had not fit the data. The tests that were performed included the MRVP test,
catalase test, oxidase test, nitrate test, citrate slant test, phenylalanine deaminase test, urea test, SIM
test, TSI test, and starch test. These tests helped me discover my microbe along with a few other
tests. The first biochemical test I performed was the MRVP test. This test is known as the Methyl
Red and Vages Proskauer test. It is a broth containing peptone, buffers, and dextrose or glucose. My
microbe was Methyl Red positive and Vages Proskauer negative.... Show more content on

This test is used to see if the microbe can hydrolyzes urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide. When
there is an alkaline environment the color turns to pink. Turning pink would present a positive
result. The SIM test tested negative for sulfur reduction presenting no sign of the color black,
positive for indole production presenting the color red, and positive for motility. Sulfur reduction is
a test used to differentiate enteric bacteria. The indole production test differentiates
Enterobacteriaceae. For testing a wide variety of organisms the motility test is used. The TSI
test stands for triple sugar iron agar, my results had turned out positive presenting a yellow slant
and yellow butt (acid/acid). The microbe was a lactose fermenter. The test is used to see the
fermentation of lactose, glucose, and sucrose. The last test I had done was the starch hydrolysis.
I had gotten a positive result when the result should have been negative. A halo may or may not
be seen with the presents of iodine. When a halo is present it is positive, starch is present. When a
halo is not present it means there is an absence of starch. When the media is positive it means that
extracellular enzymes are capable of diffusing into the medium. E. coli is supposed to be starch

Photography During Colonial Afric An Indispensable Tool...
Photography in colonial Africa provided vulnerable visual texts that trapped Africans in space and
time1. This art became an indispensable tool that provided justification for instituting colonization
in Africa. During that time period, photography became a mechanism for constraining Africans and
their surroundings to the idea of primitiveness, devoid of any progress towards modernity . Equally
important, colonial photography, if not always, took a distanced approach in capturing Africans. It
shredded away the diversity and the different strata of complexity that was present and depicted
African people in cultural, economic and political homogeneity. Western colonial photography
produced images of deindividuated people 2, images that almost unanimously depicted
disempowered 3 people in need of guidance and modernization. By stripping their subjects off their
individuality and trapping Africans under the label authentic or primitive , most western
photographers depicted an African individual as unpossessable, wordles, and distant, and so always
subject to contamination 4. This conclusion served to justify colonial rule. Yet, with photography as
a tool, the justification for colonial rule went beyond encasing Africans by the terms authentic and
primitive but went further to scientifically warrant the need for colonisation. Although a banal
point, it is imperative to note the role anthropological photography had in extending colonial rule.

Sex Education And Public Schools Essay
In this paper I will address virginity, first sexual experiences, sex education in public schools,
and abortion. The first two topics, virginity and first sexual experiences, coming from a personal
perspective as well as some credible sources. I will also include the historical aspects of virginity,
the creation and use of the concept, and why it s in our society. The last topic is my concern for
the lack of sex education in public schools and mentioning the harm of abstinence only sex
education and the importance to provide comprehensive education for our youth for protection and
lifelong sexual satisfaction. I will also include my experience with sex education and how limited
or censored topics can be detrimental to children by second guessing their understanding of
necessary and critical sexual information.
Virginity. Anyone is familiar with the term virginity. Whichever way the word was introduced to
us all throughout our lives we have either been taught by parents or educators about the word and
the concept of virginity or we have figured it out by word of mouth among our peers. By
definition, according to a simple Google search, virginity is the state of never having had sexual
intercourse or the state of being naive, innocent, or inexperienced in a particular context. With the
concept of virginity there are myths that are deeply rooted to it that come from the historical and
societal aspects of our culture, despite the word virginity being prevalent for many

Then, explain how these weapons changed warfare and give evidence for your answer.
Machine guns
Hiram Maxim created Machine Gun and in 1883, he created the first multi bullet firing weapon.
This lead to wider development of automatic weapons which were later used in war. (Note: the
1862 Gatling gun which was ran by hand cranking.)
The machinegun was first used at the very start of WWI, The Germans having a design already
in mass production by 1914. Seeing as there were already machine guns made the first battle
would likely be the battle of Marne. The machine gun changed the face of war, as it was known,
adding in the ability to cover areas in blankets of bullets in both defense and offensive stances.
There are many types of modern machine guns. These guns are used in mostly every military
operation in modern time. Tanks
The British adopted the first tank prototype as a design in 1916. The tank was first used in the
battle of Flers Courcelette. The tank changed war wildly just as the machine gun did, the
introduction of the tank meant that war had to adapt to the rolling bunkers. This adaption caused
warfare to take new face in ways to counter the invention. Tanks are a major part of warfare today,
with huge advances being made constantly to the vehicle platform and more and more warfare
being seen by the vehicles as time goes on. Airplanes

Columbia River Tribe
For more than 10,000 years the Native American people of the Columbia River region,
specifically the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indian tribes, migrated in a yearly cyclical
pattern. The tribes would travel from the lowlands of the Columbia River to the highlands in the
Blue Mountains in search of safety, shelter, food, opportunities for trade and resources of energy.
The most abundant sources of food included elk, deer, salmon, berries and roots. Each of the
aforementioned food sources were spread throughout different locales and thus required a continued
pattern of movement, place to place from season to season, to collect each target food.
Accumulated meats, berries and roots would be stored for the year to come, and to last through...

Moral Compass
There is a difference between having a good or strong moral compass and being a good person.
No matter how much you believe in justice or equality or anything else, as long as you don t
actively follow that compass, you can t honestly call yourself a good person. In fact, that might
even make you worse; you know something is wrong but you do it anyway. On one hand, I like to
think that I believe in truth, justice and the equality of all Gods children, but in reality, even if I do
believe this, I don t change my actions to fit my own code.
Lying has always been something that goes against my moral code. While it s not necessarily the
utmost condemnable thing a person can do, it is a more accessible evil. Most people I know don t
commit murder or other grand crimes, but I d venture to say most people I know lie. Ever since I
was young, I always felt that lying was so deeply wrong, purposefully deceiving the people around
you. As long as I remember, I would feel so ashamed whenever I lied, but on the ... Show more

cause personal unhappiness, everyone at some points needs to choose either their morals or their

Essay On Medical Billing
Among the most vital things about in the medical billing rates business is coming up with a
criterion of what rates to charge for your services. The rate that you decide to settle upon is what
you charge the ensuing provider s office for billing on their behalf. As such, it implies that the
billing rate is the amount of money your doctor pays you for doing the billing for them.
With that backdrop, bear in mind that the biggest decision ( arguably ) that you ll ever have to
make in your line of business is settling on the rates to charge. And that s because your rates affect
the bottom line in more ways than one.
For starters, a very low rate will mean that you ll be struggling with a load of work and getting

1. Percentage Pricing
Percentage pricing sits atop the pedestal of the most competitive criteria for determining medical
billing rates. Under this umbrella we have,
a.) As a percentage/portion of collections
In this case, the biller ( you ) bases their rates/fee on the net amount of money collected or revenue
associated with their collections. In such a situation, the biller is responsible for making sure that
full payments are made to the responsible party.
b. As a percentage/portion of gross claims
Using a such a criterion to base your fee means that you will be charging the healthcare provide an
agreed upon percentage of the claims associated with your billing services. Which, of course,
implies that the more claims you make and send to his clients, the more money flows into your
business.
Unlike payment as a percentage of the collections ( where you re only paid after the collections

Conflict presents itself in many different forms. Whether it be the massacre of over 800,000 people
that the Rwandan Genocide caused in a mere hundred days, or the long lasting conflict between the
Montagues and Capulets in Romeo and Juliet. Rwanda is a small landlocked country within Africa
that is about the size of Maryland (Beauchamp, 2014). The Hutupeople are in the majority, making
up 85 percent of the population, while Tutsis made up 14 percent of the population ( United Human

After signing a peace agreement with the Rwandan Patriotic Front, a Tutsi dominated rebel
group, President Habyarimana was flying from Tanzania to Rwanda when his plane was shot
down on April 6, 1994 ( Pre Genocide, Survivors Fund ). The death of their leader signaled the
start of the mass genocide of the Tutsi people that the Hutus had been planning for a number of
years. The mass genocide began a day after the assassination on April 7, 1994 and lasted until
July 16, 1994 (Beauchamp, 2014). The genocide ended when the Rwandan Patriotic Front

When the destruction ended in July, over two million Hutus fled from Rwanda. This conflict

Comparing Willendorf And Aphrodite Of Melos
To start off the comparison between the woman from Willendorf and Aphrodite of Melos, it s
important to give a brief overview of both. The Woman from Willendorf was a Human free

on her womanly traits, such as her breast and hips. She is thought to be a votive figure; which
tribes would offer to another tribe as a sign of fertility and that the other tribe wanted to mingle

Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate And Crime Rate
The Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate and Crime Rate in Australia
By Christopher Batho During the period of 2002 to 2014, the imprisonment rate in Australia
increased while at the same time the crime rate decreased. This essay will aim to give reasons and
theories as to why this apparent disparity between the rising imprisonment rate and decreasing crime
rate exists. To do this, the purposes for punishment will be examined, how and why this purpose of
punishment has changed over time, the sociological and criminological theories that best explain
this disparity, and finally the implications on society through these criminal justice trends. However
firstly we will examine the statistics that prove this disparity. Between 2002 and ... Show more

Property crime includes unlawful entry with intent (UEWI), motor vehicle theft (MVT) and other
theft. The total number of offences for property crime has decreased from 1,188,582 in 2002 to
773348 in 2012. From both sets of data, it can be calculated that in the period of 2002 to 2012, the
imprisonment rate increased 13.5 percent yet the violent crime and property crime rates decreased
26 percent and 35 percent respectively. The question is, how is this possible? This will be answered
later but now the purposes for punishment will now be studied. When a person is guilty of a crime,
it is society s job to punish this person for their act. Once the person has been found guilty, they are
then sentenced by a judge with a certain purpose or purposes for the punishment. The main four
purposes used are retribution, deterrence, rehabilitation and incapacitation. Retribution is defined
by Mani as the offender must be punished simply because the wrongful act merits condemnation
and punishment. (Reference). Deterrence is based on the idea that criminal behaviour can be
deterred if punishment is swift, certain, and severe enough to counter the benefits or pleasure
gained from committing crime. (Reference). Rehabilitation of an offender may be achieved through
education or therapy. However, it must be understood that in order for rehabilitation to be

Recent advances in comprehending the fundamental pathobiology of gastrointestinal mucositis
development, states that pro inflammatory cytokines and the uncontrolled activation nuclear factor
kappa B are the major contributing factors of gastrointestinal mucositis (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013,
Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Sonis, 2004). Gastrointestinal mucositis is known mainly to
occur due to the activation of nuclear factor kappa B, which causes the activation of pro
inflammatory cytokines such as tumour necrosis factor (TNF) пЃЎ, interleukin (IL) 1ОІ, IL 4, IL 6
and interferon (IFN) Оі (Al Dasooqi et al., 2013, Logan et al., 2008, Logan et al., 2009, Stringer et

While these changes did in fact increase sales volume and profits, it damaged the reputation of
Steinway and Sons. Critics and buyers began to challenge the quality of Steinway and Sons
pianos. Over the next 10 years, Henry Steinway is replaced by several CEO s, only to worsen
the calls from critics challenging the quality of Steinway and Sons pianos. In November of 1984,
CBS announced the sale of Steinway and Sons for $50 million to John and Robert Birmingham
(Gourville). Although the Birmingham brothers had no experience in the musical business, they
set out to re establish Steinway and Sons as the maker of the highest quality pianos in the world.
CEO Bruce Stevens set out to assure everyone, customers, employees, and dealers, that the new
owners were highly committed to quality. The company now became refocused and returned to
what had made them so successful. Aside from the newfound focus on quality, the Birmingham
brothers expanded Steinway and Sons product line. It now included the Boston Piano line
introduced in 1992, the Steinway Limited Edition pianos introduced 1993, and the Crown Jewel
Collection of Steinway pianos introduced in 1994. Despite these positive changes by Stevens and
his team, the running of Steinway and Sons was once again constrained by limited financial
resources. The company was again sold on April 18, 1995 to Dana Messina and Kyle Kirkland for
$100 million (Gourville). Messina and Kirkland had already acquired the Selmer

Jfk Inaugural Speech
Essay:
Language plays a crucial role in the development of power. Presidents in the United States use
rhetorical devices to emphasize a specific point and to make it clear to the audience. President
Thomas Jefferson is a democratic republican and he won the election of 1800; there he presented
his inauguration speech, this speech had significance because it was first time in the history when
the power shifted from one party to the other. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as an American
minister and played an active role in the civil rights movement. To further increase his liability in
the civil rights movement, he presented I have a dream speech that improved his position in the
movement by mentioning equality rights that all men deserve. John F. Kennedy delivered his speech
during his inauguration tried to develop relations with Soviet Union and end Cold War. All the
speeches delivered by most known personalities used rhetorical devices such as allusion and
repetition to make their message memorable in the hearts of the citizens of America. The most
known personalities used allusion to lend authority to an idea and make association with a term that
the reader is familiar with. John F. Kennedy alludes to Isaiah to make his claim stronger and
introduce a familiar concept to the audience (John F. Kennedy). Isaiah is a familiar concept to the
Jews as they worship him as God. The author alludes to Isaiah in his speech to support and convey
his claim that all the states should unite. Alluding to Isaiah allows the reader to connect with a
familiar concept. He further improves his claim by showing that it is the command of the Isaiah to
possess no hatred and stay in Unity. John F. Kennedy is referring to the Soviet Union and
Communists that they must stop fighting and avoid the Cold War that was taking place during his
presidency. Martin Luther King, Jr. alludes to the Constitution to support his claim about the
equality to African Americans. Constitution is the document used by the government officials to
govern the country. By alluding to Constitution , the rhetor is providing evidence to his argument
that African Americans should receive privileges that Americans receive. It also helps the reader

The Permeability Of Membrane Permeability
Ability of cell membrane transport of membrane permeabilityпјЊ diffusion пјЊosmosis and
membrane voltages
Introduction
Cell membranes are boundaries of the cell, it controls all the interaction between cells as well as
passage transport of the material we normally describe as membrane transport. Membrane transport
are very essential for all living things, however not all substance can transport in and out of
membranes and different ions can pass through membranes in different ways.
Membrane permeability is very important as to maintain the cell in a stable condition as we can
also describe as remain our cell a more homeostatic environment by control which substances could
can go through cells. Membranes are essential for control the concentration of particular ion, and
establish the concentration requires. We can observe those mechanisms of cell membranefrom a
considerable ATP synthesis and solute transport through the plasma membranes. Gradients which
cause those ions to move cross the membranes are potential of cell .when a separation of charge
occurred an electrical potential occurred results with voltages can be measured in the cell.
Osmosis is the one of important transport for living cells.it allows water from one side to another.
The direction of osmosis are usually from high concentration of water to lower concentration. This
is because when the membrane has a high level on one side of membranes it could results as a
pressure, which is known as osmotic pressure.

Characteristics Of A Freshwater Lake
Figure 1. The zones of a freshwater lake (Smith and Smith 2001).
Within the lentic ecosystems, temperature plays a crucial role. Lake temperatures does not variate
drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year. Summer, the thermic
stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure 2). The superior level of a lake that
is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion, which is the warmer part of the fresh water body.
This water remains in the superior part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun
becomes clearer than the dense water downward. The metalimnion is the known layer that would
be ubicated beneath. This layer is defined by the thermocline where the temperature slightly
decreases. In this phase, the temperature decreases 1 В°C for every single meter that descends.
Hypolimnion would be the last stratified layer in a lake. This deep and cutoff from sources of air.
(Korstad 2017)
Another crucial component is the description of the characteristics of a lake is to monitor the
quantity of oxygen and carbon dioxide to various depths. There is a reciprocal relation that exists
between these two elements when they are compared to the depth of a lake (Figure 2) (Korstad
2017). A lake has the capacity top adhere oxygen by absorption or photosynthesis. The levels high
oxygen is necessary to maintain the necessary nutrients inside the water, and at the same time
providing a source food to all fishes. It is common to see

The Death Of John F. Kennedy
On November 22, 1963, our president, John F. Kennedy, was shot and killed while riding
through Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was identified as the lone assassin
hours after thousands of Texans witnessed the horrific last shot shattering their beloved president
s right temple. Six months later, a report of the investigation was released by the Warren
Commission. Unreported findings caused the majority of America to question the accuracy of the
results to what happened that day. A plethora of theories have been published since that day and
continue to surface fifty two years later. Some believe the mob or Cuba was behind the plot.
Some believe Kennedy was killed to keep information from being exposed. Others believe it came
to be a fatal error by an individual sworn in to protect John F. Kennedyat all costs. However, most
side with what the facts support. This paper will investigate four theories that developed after the
historical day Americans were brought to their knees. One notion is that the mob used Lee Harvey
Oswaldas a patsy to murder John F. Kennedy. John had taken favors from the mob to win the
presidential election. In Patrick J. Kiger s article, Was Kennedy Tied to the Mob? he describes an
instance where Kennedy s mistress, Judith Campbell Exner recalls a meeting set up between JFK
and Sam Giacana. He writes, I think I may need his help in the campaign, she claimed that Kennedy

1. Explain why increasing extracellular K+ reduces the net diffusion of K+ out the neuron through
the K+ leak channels?
When the diffusion is greater on one side, the other side will slow down.
2. Explain why increasing extracellular K+ causes the membrane potential to change to a less
negative value. How well did the results compare with your predictions?
There are two potassium s for every sodium so the increase of potassium will make it more
negative. Prediction was correct.
3. Explain why a change in extracellular Na+ did not alter the membrane potential in the resting
neuron?
The sodium channels are mostly closed during the resting state.

Essay on Babies in the Workplace
Babies in the Workplace As we move into the new millennium more and more employers are
allowing, some are even encouraging, their employees to bring their newborn babies to work
with them. This is probably one of the greatest changes in child care norms that this country has
seen in the past 30 years. Once upon a time, when a woman had a baby she almost always quit
her job to raise her child, depending on her husband to support her and her child. Then along came
the idea of maternity leave. This is when a woman takes a certain amount of time off to be with
newborn. Once this time period was up, the woman still had a job to go back to. This meant that
women no longer had to rely on their husbands for support. Unfortunately it also... Show more

The change in policy that allows women and men to bring their newborn children to work with
them is, in a sense, just one more change in our country norms and values. At one point leaving
your child with a baby sitter or at a daycare center all day was considered being a bad parent,
meaning it was the norm to stay home and take care of your child yourself. Then, as divorce
rates went up and more women were forced to raise their children on their own, that changed
and it became the norm for women to go back to work after a set time for maternity leave. This
also made sending you child to a daycare center or leaving them with a babysitter the norm since
you couldn t be there to take care of your child. With women being allowed to bring their babies
into work with them, that is again changing the norms of society, specifically those having to do
with the care of children. Women used to be given a hard time when they brought their children
into work with them, even if it was only for a matter of minutes. Now many of them are allowed
to bring their children in for a whole day, every day. This is enabling women to care for their own
children and raise them in their own way with their own values, instead of entrusting those
important responsibilities to someone else. Mothers are also forming a closer bond with their
children in an important time in a child s development. This will lead to a stronger bond later

Tiananmen Square Massacre Essay
With thousands left wounded, a seemingly countless number of citizens reported dead, and a
country left with a reputation in jeopardy. All of these were the consequences of a shocking and
devastating event which happened on the 4th of June 1989, the Tiananmen Square massacre.
Overtime this has been viewed as a major turning point in Chinese history. It catalyzed movements
for generations across the world.
Tiananmen Square is a city square in the centre of Beijing, China. It is named after Tiananmen,
Gate of Heavenly Peace. The square contains the Monument to the People s Heroes, the Great Hall
of the People, the National Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong
died on September 9, 1976. At the time of his death, China was in a political and economic
dilemma. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966 1976) and factional fighting had left the
country much poorer, weaker, and isolated than it had been in 1965. A large amount of
experienced party officials, intellectuals, and professionals were deteriorating in prison or working
in factories, mines, and fields. Many schools had been closed, and an entire generation of young
people were unable to obtain an education. The ethics of China turned under Deng Xiaoping to a

Anticipatory grief: grieving that begins before the actual passing of the individual when there is
forewarning of impending death
Many of the same symptoms as grief in general; anxiety, sadness, efforts to strengthen family bonds
as well as attempts to resolve relationship issues and caretaking behaviour
Going through this process may help ease the grieving process after death
Normal Grief Reaction
Numbness, shock, disbelief often initial symptoms
Typical to initially not fully process the reality of death and to be preoccupied with arranging

The animal s very name came from the size of the footprints it leaves behind. Some tracks have
toes that have five toes, but then there other tracks that have two, three, four or even six toes.
Not all prints found are footprints. In September 2000, a team of investigators from the Bigfoot
Field Research Organization found a Bigfoot body print and also they have got sounds from
Bigfoot that sound like grunts, howls, and growls (www.csicop.org). In February, a group of
Colorado researchers claimed they found scientific evidence to confirm Bigfoot s existence.
Researcher Dave Paulides says his research group collected hundreds of DNA samples from
Bigfoot, mostly from Northern California s redwoods, and said the creature is a human
subspecies. Bigfoot s legend has evolved over the years cause there are more sightings of
Bigfoot and more evidence on what it is and where it has come from. Bigfoot is an odd
unexplained creature that we have no idea of but we have a lot of hard evidence that points to
something. As you can see of how many names he has there s a lot of people who has seen this big
hairy ape like creature. Theirs evidence that points to human hybrids. So maybe the evolution of
Bigfoot has evolved a lot and we don t see it, because since theirs no actual Bigfoot right in front of

Images of the Nude Male in European Art Essay
The human body, especially the nude male figure, has been a subject of art since the first
scratching appeared on cave walls. Stick figures with phalluses denoted the male, procreation and
dominance. Archeologists have found evidences proving that the male nude appeared in Egypt in
the early Dynastic periods and in early Mesopotamia four thousand years ago.
The Greek made the nude into art, and we, the Americans, made it into something commonly
referred to as pornography. Until today, nude is still a major subject in art that everyone would
have seen a few times, either in display cases of a museum or in greater numbers of male
underwear ads. Myself being a boy of the old capital of Vietnam, I grew up with such statues in the

In Greek culture, the image of Apollo was believed an archetypal idea for male physical beauty.
Unsurprisingly, his female counterpart was Venus. The statue was found in Rome during the
15th century, and you can see the pose is repeatedly used in painting and sculpture over
centuries. Many fashion designers are favoring this pose, languid leaner , exists in classical art
alongside more heroic models of male beauty (Bordo 406). Apollo stands there solidly, with left
hand raising high; his body projects strength, solidity; he s no male waif (Bordo 392). He calmly
looks straight at you as if daring you to offend him. And of course, his penis is invisible, a symbol
of malehood. Unlike the Romans, the Greek had no problem with getting naked. They did not
cover their private parts with a leaf or clothes, they showed it all.
One of the most famous statues of all time is the statue of David of Michelangelo. David stands 13
feet 5 inches high. The creation of the piece happened during the Renaissance, the rebirth of
classical ideas. At that time, Florence needed a centerpiece to represent the city. The colossal
piece of marble had been awaiting a sculptor who could do something with it for many years.

Introduction:
As computer became more commonly used in universities and research labs in the late 1960s, the
need of having high speed interconnections between computer systems within a small region
generated a new interest of Internet development. The initial motivation for building such
networks was generally to share storage and printers, which were both expensive at the time. Early
Local Area Networks development started in the late 1970 s by enthusiasts and commercial
companies. From that time until the present a variation of LAN s design has been offered in the
marketplace. However, in the late 1980 s people began to recognize Ethernet as the flavor of choice.
The following report will concern only Ethernet.
The figure in appendix shows the basic physical layout of a LAN. As illustrated, a LAN contains
various data equipment that all need to communicate with each other. A data equipment could be a
web server, a printer or a database. Each data equipment constitutes the users of the LAN. The
communication between each device is accomplished by sharing a common Transmission Medium.
The Transmission Medium is typically some type of cable. This cable provides transmit and receive
capability and all needed intelligence. Knowing the physical structure helps us to better understand
the potential requirements when designing a LAN.
When it comes to design a LAN, not only

Berry Strauss s The Trojan War a New History Book Review
Barry Strauss, professor of classics at Cornell University attempts to redefine a one of history s
biggest love affairs, the Trojan War. Strauss explains how certain events and characters from
Homers The Odyssey might have actually existed, but also uses modern discoveries from the
Bronze Age to compare Homers account to those of Egypt, the Middle East, and etc. While Homer
s epic should not be read as a historical document which recounts the Trojan Warhundred percent
accurately, it can still be seen as document which embodies some historical truth. The novel as a
whole explains the customs, economic standing, fighting styles and beliefs of the Greeks.
Strauss s writing style allows for the book to be accessible to both students and historians. He
argues that just like Franz Ferdinand was the spark which ignited World War 1, Helen on the
other hand was just a spark which escalated an existing tension between the Greeks and Trojans.
Strauss s personal input on the war itself gives the novel a different outlook on the Trojan War
because, it allows for readers to see beyond the facts and make connections with ideas that Strauss
had made with recent discoveries and Homers epic. Strauss sectionalizes the book in 11 chapters,
excluding the introduction and conclusion, and in each chapter he covers a different aspect of the

Moral Responsibility and Harry Frankfurt
The incompatibilists argue that one is morally responsible for what she has done given that she
could have done otherwise. Further, they think that if determinism is true then one could not have
done otherwise, so if determinism is true, one is not morally responsible for things she has done. In
debates surrounding the issue of free will, philosophers have focused on discussing whether
determinism is true or false. Harry Frankfurt thinks even though the requirement of alternative
possibilities in order to be held morally responsible for our actions seems intuitively plausible, it
is a questionable premise in the argument provided by incompatibilists. Frankfurt calls the
premise that a person is morally responsible for what he has done only if he could have done
otherwise the principle of alternative possibilities or PAP (Frankfurt, 829). He argues that PAP is
false and a person can be held morally responsible even if she could not have done otherwise.
Frankfurt presents counterexamples to PAP to prove its falsity. He tells us to assume that there is
a universal controller that wants to ensure certain outcomes. The controller makes it impossible for
an agent to act otherwise, which causes her to act exactly as the controller wishes. Frankfurt argues
that in such a case it is true that agent is not responsible for her action and that she could not have
done otherwise, but he thinks that the agent s lack of responsibility does not follow from her
inability to do otherwise.

successful in bringing Caravaggio s lighting techniques with him to the North, influencing many
painters, including Rembrandt. But his painting Musical Group on a Balcony is a departure from
his customarily dark depictions. This piece was the first Dutch illusionistic ceiling, which Honthorst

secular subject parodies the idea of heaven depicted in many ceiling paintings. Instead of looking
up to see angels floating in the distant atmosphere, we see a host of normal people. We are even
invited to join them, and the simple balcony makes us feel that we need only climb upstairs in
order to enjoy the same happiness.
Seeing the painting up close also allowed me to observe the emotion on the faces of those in the
painting. Every person present is either singing or playing an instrument. One of the lute players
stares into the distance, lost in reverie, while the lady singing next to him moves her hand
delightfully to the music. As the crowd sings along merrily, her dress slips off her shoulder and
the wind gives us a glimpse of her red stockings, adding to the uninhibited and carefree nature of
the gathering. The painting is only partially preserved and was most likely wider and possibly
twice as long at the time of its composition, making for quite an illusion of merriment. One can
imagine that whenever Honthorst stood under his

Uranium Mining On The Navajo Nation
Uranium Mining on The Navajo Nation Uranium mining on the Navajo Nation has had a negative
impact on the land, the animals, and the people. Although it brought jobs to the surrounding
communities, and made it possible for men to provide for their families, it also brought devastation
that has haunted the people for the past fifty years. Uraniummining on the Navajo Nation began
during the year 1948 when it was first discovered by a group of surveyors near a town called
Cove, Arizona. That discovery led to many more discoveries throughout the Navajo Nation in
places like Monument
Valley, Utah, Kayenta, Arizona, Shiprock, New Mexico, and Church Rock, New Mexico.
Uranium mining on the Navajo Nation was put to a stop during the year 2005

Ticketing for Small Amounts of Marijuana in Canada
The Conservative government is considering making legal changes the allow police to, instead of
laying charges, issue ticket to those caught with tiny amounts of marijuana. However, these legal
changes should not be interpreted as either a legalization or decriminalization of marijuana.
Rather they should be interpreted as additional enforcement measures that, should they need
them, are available to police officers. Likewise, there is good reason to believe that this novel
ticketing system would only apply to simple possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana.
Additionally, these tickets would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a
fine or presenting a court option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the
ability to represent themselves or have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to
be softening up when it comes to the legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long
ago passed legislation that toughened laws regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of
trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some,
like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say that the purposed ticketing system does not go
far enough and is only a halfway measure. There are two legal issues related to this news article.
Should the federal government simply decriminalize marijuana and does the current criminalization
of marijuana hold any basis in ensuring public

The Minimum Age for Attaining a Driver’s License Should Be...
Turning sixteen years old is a milestone to many teenagers. In the majority of states, this is the age
when adolescents become eligible for attaining a driver s license. A growing number of people feel
that the only way to truly prevent tragedy is to increase the driving age. Most teenagers and parents
believe in this system, although many people feel that such action is necessary. A number of states
in the United States have already increased the minimum age. These states use graduated licensing
programs that put limitations on young drivers. The minimum age for attaining a driver s license
should be increased to 18 years old due to numerous factors; these include emotional intelligence,
disturbances while driving, and the underdevelopment of the brain.
Young drivers need to have the ability to manage and maintain their emotions in order to lower
the risk of fatal accidents. Emotions influence the way drivers think and act. When emotions
affect a driver s thoughts and actions, they can change the way they assess risk and decision
making (Johnson 292). A stable mental state is crucial to driving early in life. Maintaining an
attitude of I will always work to manage my emotions when driving is a big step (qtd. in Johnson
294). Personal emotions are very complicated and powerful forces, which correspond with a young
driver s behavior. Physical and mental affects of emotions interfere with bodily functions and many
behavioral abilities (Johnson 303). Strong emotions can

The Glass Menagerie Symbolism
Constantly on the run, always hiding in fear. There was no escaping him and his dreaded army.
December 8, 1937, is when they finally uncovered Charlotte s family. The last thing Charlotte
recalls from that night is her mother being dragged away to her most certain death by the horrid
and repulsive crimson swastika. Symbols have been around since the beginning of the existence of
mankind from the ancient egyptians to Christ. Symbols is humanity s way of expressing feelings,
stories, and events through objects or pictures. Symbols can also have different meaning for
different groups of people. For the Jews, the swastika represents hate and death, but for Hitler and
the Nazi army is represented power and victory. In both plays, The Glass Menagerie... Show more

Laura instinctively reaches for the glass to reassure herself so that she can try to make the fear her
mother has instilled into her head disappear. When Laura gives the broken unicorn to Jim to take

Laura s broken heart. The broken unicorn helps to develop her realization of her faux reality and

Ibsen uses macaroons as a symbol of disobedience and deceitfulness. When Nora arrives home to
Helmer he suspects she has gone out and got some sweets which Nora denies when in actuality
she had eaten some macaroons that were hidden in her pocket (Ibsen, 7). Nora denying to her
husband shows how easily she can spout a lie. Nora s disobedience gives a hidden inside to the
rebellious side of Nora. The macaroons also helps to start to develop the relationship between Nora
and Torvald.

Parental Consent Or Notification For Minors
Minors and Contraception Are you over the age of 18? Do you have a parent with you? I am
sorry, but we cannot allow you to buy this without consent from your parents . That conversation
was a glimpse into the future, unless educated personnel puts a stop to it. Worldwide, minors are
being threatened of having their privacy rights stripped away from them just like that. An issue has
occurred where bits and pieces of the population have started to question a minor s legal capability

Other contraceptive methods are available to students including a pepo provera shot, which
protects against pregnancy for up to 14 weeks, and the plan B, or morning after pill (Rosenberg 1).
This shows that in some situations, teenagers do have access to contraception, however it comes
with the price of having to acquire parental approval. That fact only speaks for one school, in one
town, in one country. Minors access to contraception varies in every state and every country. Some
minors draw the lucky number when they land in a state where consent is not required and others
are not able to truthfully say the same. In the article, State Policies in Brief , readers are informed
that twenty five states allow to minors to consent in one or more circumstances, four states have no

being married, being a parent, being pregnant or had ever been pregnant, being a high school

The Outsiders Differences Between Book And Movie
The Outsiders
Books and movies have many similarities and differences, this is some similarities and
differences in The Outsiders. The similarities in the books are they all have the same lesson
/theme. In the book and movie the lesson or point is the split between gangs and how they also
have the same problems on both sides of town this makes the story more reliable than not to have
the same theme. In the movie and the book the themes are very apparent in the split between
social groups which makes the story have the same feeling as the book. In the movie in the book
and movie Johnny is abused by his parents. This is important because in the book Johnny is the
shy character which is always in the lot or not at home which forms the character. That is how
some similarities in the book and the movie of the great novel The Outsiders. ... Show more content

Some of the more apparent differences in the book and movie is that in the book Johnny is a very
shy and soft spoken yet on the movie johnny is more talkative. This affects the plot greatly by
saying that Johnny is beaten and is on the verge to kill yet in the movie the feeling of being abused
is not here. This leads me to believe that Johnny doesn t have the strength to kill Bob Sheldon.
Another difference is that in the book is that Johnny in the hospital was on a bed but in the movie
Johnny is is on a high tech bed which is built for his injury. This is important because in the movie
the specialized bed gives the feeling that he is in critical condition which makes the audience more
emotional than the book with Johnny in a common bed which does not give the feeling of a critical
condition. That is some of the many differences in the book and movie of The

With evidence based nursing, there is now data conflicting the efficacy of using CPM machines on

Essay On Child Mortality In Kenya
Furthermore, the decline in childhood mortality in Kenya reflects the recent global trend of under
5 mortality reduction at a faster pace than at any other time in the past two decades (UNICEF,
2014). The Ministry of Health (2015) describes malaria as a leading cause of morbidity and
mortality in Kenya, with more than 70 percent of the country s population at risk of infection. In
Kenya, scientists have shown through studies that areas that have latitudes ranging from 0 to 1300
meters such as around Lake Victoria in western Kenya and the coastal regions have a high malaria
prevalence rate and thus high under 5 mortality rate ( MOH,2015). The free maternal healthcare

Secondly, the conceptualization and launch of Human Resources for Health aims at addressing

at strengthening Level I hospital services. Fourthly, the capacity of households is upgraded not
only to demand services from providers, but also to know and gradually achieve their rights to
equitable, good quality health care. During the period of 2008 2012 nearly 2530 community
health units were established in the health sector (Ministry of Devolution, 2013).Furthermore, the
proportion of children who are under 5 years sleeping under Insecticide Treated Bed Nets has
increased progressively from around 2.9% in 2000 to 42.2% in the year 2011 ( ibid). This has been
attributed to massive investment in free mass net distribution and routine distribution of bed nets to
expectant mothers and children under five in Maternal Child Health clinics (MCH) (Ministry of
Devolution, 2013). Research shows that the proportion of children in Kenya treated with
appropriate anti malaria medicines declined from 64.4% in 2000 to 23% in 2008 (Ministry of

Soy Candles Research
Soy Candles: Eco Friendly and Better for Your Health
If you love candles the way that I do, then you probably have plenty of them around at all times. I
generally have at least one scented candle burning in my home (as long as I m home, that is!).
Unscented candles are also a welcome accessory in my living environment. They can immediately
brighten any room, and they come in a broad range of shapes and sizes to match the mood and
moment. In fact, I usually burn unscented candles when I have guests with allergies or with
particular sensitivity to scent.
Unfortunately, many people are also sensitive to any kind of traditional candle. Such candles may

Step Three: Add the Fragrance Oil (Optional)
If you plan to use fragrance oil in these candles, this is the time to add that. I usually add about .02
to .04 kg of fragrance oil to .45 kg of soy wax. Stir the fragrance oil as thoroughly as the dye. I m
going to use blueberry because I have been craving blueberry pie recently, and I d rather satisfy
that urge with pretty candles and keep my waistline as it is!
Combining Fragrance Oils
Combining fragrance oils is as much fun as blending hues. You might try any of hundreds of
concoctions. A few that seem to be particularly popular at this time of year are: candy cane and
chocolate, gingerbread and vanilla cream, and holly berry and pine.

Importance And Importance Of Team Building
Introduction
Team Building is essential to make the organization a better place to work. When we hear the term
Team Building we are drawn to the term team and then what can be done to help them grow and
improve. It inspires groups of employees to communicate through a series of planned events that
are motivational as well as fun. These events can be used to determine strong points in the person s
personality, such as leadership skills, problem solving skills, etc. This can benefit the person by
giving them job satisfaction and the opportunity to progress to their full potential. Team building is
truly important as it also benefits the team as a whole. When employees of any company who
rarely work together are allowed to communicate, they can discover that they enjoy the interaction
and continue to bond with different people (from distinct fields) back at the office. Those
employees who previously may not have been getting along with others will have to forget ... Show

Team building programs create a healthier environment and a more motivated, well organized and
proficient team. Effective team building means more engaged and active employees, which is
good for company values and boosting the bottom line. The most successful team building
activities are ones that don t feel like a day at the office. Activities or exercises that overtly aim to
draw in leadership lessons or practical takeaways are less entertaining or powerful. Well, the
innovative method is to plan all those activities that bring the co workers together, resulting into
sharing an experience or working towards the same goal. It allows bonding more organically and
far more effectively. These wonderful experiences brought everyone closer together and in the end
employee learned that there s no better way to understand someone than to walk a mile

  • 2. Moses Dbq Questions And Answers Moses helped the Hebrews a lot. With the many things he did, he got them out of Egypt. In my perspective, if I was a Hebrew slave, I would follow Moses out of Egypt. I would follow Moses out of Egypt because the Hebrews were slaves. Moses had the power of God, along with the Ten Commandments. I would want to avoid the plagues. To begin with, one reason I would follow Moses out of Egypt is because the Hebrews were slaves. For instance, the Hebrews were oppressed. According to Document 2, it tells us that Moses saw a Hebrew slave being mistreated. This means that the slaves were mistreated while being in Egypt. Document 2 supports my reason because it tells us that an innocent slave was being wronged. In addition, I would choose to follow Moses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What started as a 280 bed hospital then has, in the last 15 years grown to become a 32 hospitals network with 6,498 beds across 20 cities employing 15,262 people and 1,861 doctors. It treats 2 million patients every year and perform 300 surgeries daily. About 12 per cent of all cardiac surgeries done in the country are performed at its hospitals and 50 per cent of its patients are from the economically weaker sections. Narayana Hrudayalaya has been able to bring down the cost of heart surgery to the equivalent of USD 1,400 to 1,500 .Their target is to bring this down to $800. Approximately 40 per cent of patients pay a reasonable price for their treatment, a small percentage those who want the comforts of private rooms pay a premium, a majority pays less than the market rate and 10 to 20 per cent pay virtually nothing. • 5. Data Preparation And Quality Of Data Essay Introduction Data gathering methods are often loosely controlled, resulting in out of range values (e.g., Income: 100), impossible data combinations (e.g., Gender: Male, Pregnant: Yes), missing values, etc. Analyzing data that has not been carefully screened for such problems can produce misleading results. Thus, the representation and quality of data is first and foremost before running an analysis. If there is much irrelevant and redundant information present or noisy and unreliable data, then knowledge discovery during the training phase is more difficult. Data preparation and filtering steps can take considerable amount of processing time. Data pre processing includes cleaning, normalization, transformation, feature extraction and selection, etc. The product of data pre processing is the final training set. Data Pre processing Methods Raw data is highly susceptible to noise, missing values, and inconsistency. In order to help improve the quality of the data and, consequently of the results, raw data is pre processed. Data preprocessing is one of the most critical steps in data analysis which deals with the preparation and transformation of the initial dataset. Data preprocessing methods are divided into following categories: пѓ Data Cleaning пѓ Data Integration пѓ Data Transformation пѓ Data Reduction Data Cleaning Data that is to be analyzed can be incomplete (lacking attribute values or certain attributes of interest, or containing only aggregate data), noisy ... • 6. Proposed Network Solution for Worldwide Advertising, Inc.... At the core of any successful business is a functioning, well organized network. The design of that network can be a daunting task for even the most skilled of Information Technology and Networking Professionals. To make that task more manageable it s easier to divide it up into the key components needed to implement a successful network design. In this proposal we will go through those key areas and understand the needs of Worldwide Advertising Inc. and some of the suggested solutions specific to the organization.Deployment and Server Editions Server Editions WAI is a relatively small sized company in regards to IT needs and specifically when it comes to determining the Windows Server 2012 edition that is appropriate.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond that server roles include things like managing the company email and website, print services, backups and Active Directory. Each of our locations will have a physical presence so determining the best roles to deploy at each location will take some careful consideration. Server roles are the things a particular server does like Files Services, Email Services, or Active Directory. Most of the critical roles will need to be installed on the equipment at the main office in Los Angeles but since we have a functioning office in New York some server roles might need to be replicated at that location to provide functionality for the network. Server Locations Although the company could operate normally with all of the physical server equipment being located in one of the two locations based on the budget we would recommend having some equipment at both locations. The Los Angeles is clearly the primary location as most of the staff including IT will be located there but by having some redundancy at the New York location we could provide a much higher level of availability. This means that an outage or breach of security at the Los Angeles location could be minimized since we could transition to the New York equipment as the primary. These redundancies are extremely critical in our line of work. We can t afford to lose creative data that could take weeks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Biochemical Test E. Coli I had discovered that my unknown microbe is Escherichia coli (E. coli). After performing various biochemical tests E. coli seemed to fit my microbe the best with only having two misguided biochemical tests that had not fit the data. The tests that were performed included the MRVP test, catalase test, oxidase test, nitrate test, citrate slant test, phenylalanine deaminase test, urea test, SIM test, TSI test, and starch test. These tests helped me discover my microbe along with a few other tests. The first biochemical test I performed was the MRVP test. This test is known as the Methyl Red and Vages Proskauer test. It is a broth containing peptone, buffers, and dextrose or glucose. My microbe was Methyl Red positive and Vages Proskauer negative.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This test is used to see if the microbe can hydrolyzes urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide. When there is an alkaline environment the color turns to pink. Turning pink would present a positive result. The SIM test tested negative for sulfur reduction presenting no sign of the color black, positive for indole production presenting the color red, and positive for motility. Sulfur reduction is a test used to differentiate enteric bacteria. The indole production test differentiates Enterobacteriaceae. For testing a wide variety of organisms the motility test is used. The TSI test stands for triple sugar iron agar, my results had turned out positive presenting a yellow slant and yellow butt (acid/acid). The microbe was a lactose fermenter. The test is used to see the fermentation of lactose, glucose, and sucrose. The last test I had done was the starch hydrolysis. I had gotten a positive result when the result should have been negative. A halo may or may not be seen with the presents of iodine. When a halo is present it is positive, starch is present. When a halo is not present it means there is an absence of starch. When the media is positive it means that extracellular enzymes are capable of diffusing into the medium. • 8. Photography During Colonial Afric An Indispensable Tool... Photography in colonial Africa provided vulnerable visual texts that trapped Africans in space and time1. This art became an indispensable tool that provided justification for instituting colonization in Africa. During that time period, photography became a mechanism for constraining Africans and their surroundings to the idea of primitiveness, devoid of any progress towards modernity . Equally important, colonial photography, if not always, took a distanced approach in capturing Africans. It shredded away the diversity and the different strata of complexity that was present and depicted African people in cultural, economic and political homogeneity. Western colonial photography produced images of deindividuated people 2, images that almost unanimously depicted disempowered 3 people in need of guidance and modernization. By stripping their subjects off their individuality and trapping Africans under the label authentic or primitive , most western photographers depicted an African individual as unpossessable, wordles, and distant, and so always subject to contamination 4. This conclusion served to justify colonial rule. Yet, with photography as a tool, the justification for colonial rule went beyond encasing Africans by the terms authentic and primitive but went further to scientifically warrant the need for colonisation. Although a banal point, it is imperative to note the role anthropological photography had in extending colonial rule. By combining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first two topics, virginity and first sexual experiences, coming from a personal perspective as well as some credible sources. I will also include the historical aspects of virginity, the creation and use of the concept, and why it s in our society. The last topic is my concern for the lack of sex education in public schools and mentioning the harm of abstinence only sex education and the importance to provide comprehensive education for our youth for protection and lifelong sexual satisfaction. I will also include my experience with sex education and how limited or censored topics can be detrimental to children by second guessing their understanding of necessary and critical sexual information. Virginity. Anyone is familiar with the term virginity. Whichever way the word was introduced to us all throughout our lives we have either been taught by parents or educators about the word and the concept of virginity or we have figured it out by word of mouth among our peers. By definition, according to a simple Google search, virginity is the state of never having had sexual intercourse or the state of being naive, innocent, or inexperienced in a particular context. With the concept of virginity there are myths that are deeply rooted to it that come from the historical and societal aspects of our culture, despite the word virginity being prevalent for many ... Machine guns Hiram Maxim created Machine Gun and in 1883, he created the first multi bullet firing weapon. This lead to wider development of automatic weapons which were later used in war. (Note: the 1862 Gatling gun which was ran by hand cranking.) The machinegun was first used at the very start of WWI, The Germans having a design already in mass production by 1914. Seeing as there were already machine guns made the first battle would likely be the battle of Marne. The machine gun changed the face of war, as it was known, adding in the ability to cover areas in blankets of bullets in both defense and offensive stances. There are many types of modern machine guns. These guns are used in mostly every military operation in modern time. Tanks The British adopted the first tank prototype as a design in 1916. The tank was first used in the battle of Flers Courcelette. The tank changed war wildly just as the machine gun did, the introduction of the tank meant that war had to adapt to the rolling bunkers. Columbia River Tribe For more than 10,000 years the Native American people of the Columbia River region, specifically the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indian tribes, migrated in a yearly cyclical pattern. The tribes would travel from the lowlands of the Columbia River to the highlands in the Blue Mountains in search of safety, shelter, food, opportunities for trade and resources of energy. The most abundant sources of food included elk, deer, salmon, berries and roots. Each of the aforementioned food sources were spread throughout different locales and thus required a continued pattern of movement, place to place from season to season, to collect each target food. No matter how much you believe in justice or equality or anything else, as long as you don t actively follow that compass, you can t honestly call yourself a good person. In fact, that might even make you worse; you know something is wrong but you do it anyway. On one hand, I like to think that I believe in truth, justice and the equality of all Gods children, but in reality, even if I do believe this, I don t change my actions to fit my own code. Lying has always been something that goes against my moral code. While it s not necessarily the utmost condemnable thing a person can do, it is a more accessible evil. Most people I know don t commit murder or other grand crimes, but I d venture to say most people I know lie. The rate that you decide to settle upon is what you charge the ensuing provider s office for billing on their behalf. Whether it be the massacre of over 800,000 people that the Rwandan Genocide caused in a mere hundred days, or the long lasting conflict between the Montagues and Capulets in Romeo and Juliet. Rwanda is a small landlocked country within Africa that is about the size of Maryland (Beauchamp, 2014). The Hutupeople are in the majority, making up 85 percent of the population, while Tutsis made up 14 percent of the population ( United Human Rights Council ). The mass genocide began a day after the assassination on April 7, 1994 and lasted until July 16, 1994 (Beauchamp, 2014). The genocide ended when the Rwandan Patriotic Front defeated the Hutu perpetrator regime and a new president rose to power, President Paul Kagame. When the destruction ended in July, over two million Hutus fled from Rwanda. Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate And Crime Rate The Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate and Crime Rate in Australia By Christopher Batho During the period of 2002 to 2014, the imprisonment rate in Australia increased while at the same time the crime rate decreased. This essay will aim to give reasons and theories as to why this apparent disparity between the rising imprisonment rate and decreasing crime rate exists. To do this, the purposes for punishment will be examined, how and why this purpose of punishment has changed over time, the sociological and criminological theories that best explain this disparity, and finally the implications on society through these criminal justice trends. From both sets of data, it can be calculated that in the period of 2002 to 2012, the imprisonment rate increased 13.5 percent yet the violent crime and property crime rates decreased 26 percent and 35 percent respectively. The question is, how is this possible? This will be answered later but now the purposes for punishment will now be studied. When a person is guilty of a crime, it is society s job to punish this person for their act. Once the person has been found guilty, they are then sentenced by a judge with a certain purpose or purposes for the punishment. The main four purposes used are retribution, deterrence, rehabilitation and incapacitation. Retribution is defined by Mani as the offender must be punished simply because the wrongful act merits condemnation and punishment. (Reference). Deterrence is based on the idea that criminal behaviour can be deterred if punishment is swift, certain, and severe enough to counter the benefits or pleasure gained from committing crime. Lake temperatures does not variate drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year. Summer, the thermic stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure 2). The superior level of a lake that is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion, which is the warmer part of the fresh water body. This water remains in the superior part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun becomes clearer than the dense water downward. The metalimnion is the known layer that would be ubicated beneath. This layer is defined by the thermocline where the temperature slightly decreases. In this phase, the temperature decreases 1 В°C for every single meter that descends. Hypolimnion would be the last stratified layer in a lake. This deep and cutoff from sources of air. Once upon a time, when a woman had a baby she almost always quit her job to raise her child, depending on her husband to support her and her child. Then along came the idea of maternity leave. The change in policy that allows women and men to bring their newborn children to work with them is, in a sense, just one more change in our country norms and values. At one point leaving your child with a baby sitter or at a daycare center all day was considered being a bad parent, meaning it was the norm to stay home and take care of your child yourself. Then, as divorce rates went up and more women were forced to raise their children on their own, that changed and it became the norm for women to go back to work after a set time for maternity leave. This also made sending you child to a daycare center or leaving them with a babysitter the norm since you couldn t be there to take care of your child. With women being allowed to bring their babies into work with them, that is again changing the norms of society, specifically those having to do with the care of children. Women used to be given a hard time when they brought their children into work with them, even if it was only for a matter of minutes. Now many of them are allowed to bring their children in for a whole day, every day. This is enabling women to care for their own children and raise them in their own way with their own values, instead of entrusting those important responsibilities to someone else. Some tracks have toes that have five toes, but then there other tracks that have two, three, four or even six toes. Not all prints found are footprints. In September 2000, a team of investigators from the Bigfoot Field Research Organization found a Bigfoot body print and also they have got sounds from Bigfoot that sound like grunts, howls, and growls (www.csicop.org). In February, a group of Colorado researchers claimed they found scientific evidence to confirm Bigfoot s existence. Researcher Dave Paulides says his research group collected hundreds of DNA samples from Bigfoot, mostly from Northern California s redwoods, and said the creature is a human subspecies. Bigfoot s legend has evolved over the years cause there are more sightings of Bigfoot and more evidence on what it is and where it has come from. Bigfoot is an odd unexplained creature that we have no idea of but we have a lot of hard evidence that points to something. As you can see of how many names he has there s a lot of people who has seen this big hairy ape like creature. Theirs evidence that points to human hybrids. • 35. Images of the Nude Male in European Art Essay The human body, especially the nude male figure, has been a subject of art since the first scratching appeared on cave walls. Stick figures with phalluses denoted the male, procreation and dominance. Archeologists have found evidences proving that the male nude appeared in Egypt in the early Dynastic periods and in early Mesopotamia four thousand years ago. The Greek made the nude into art, and we, the Americans, made it into something commonly referred to as pornography. Many fashion designers are favoring this pose, languid leaner , exists in classical art alongside more heroic models of male beauty (Bordo 406). Apollo stands there solidly, with left hand raising high; his body projects strength, solidity; he s no male waif (Bordo 392). He calmly looks straight at you as if daring you to offend him. And of course, his penis is invisible, a symbol of malehood. Unlike the Romans, the Greek had no problem with getting naked. They did not cover their private parts with a leaf or clothes, they showed it all. One of the most famous statues of all time is the statue of David of Michelangelo. David stands 13 feet 5 inches high. The creation of the piece happened during the Renaissance, the rebirth of classical ideas. At that time, Florence needed a centerpiece to represent the city. The Basic Physical Layout Of A Lan Table of Contents Introduction2 Discussion3 Conclusion5 References7 Appendices8 Introduction: As computer became more commonly used in universities and research labs in the late 1960s, the need of having high speed interconnections between computer systems within a small region generated a new interest of Internet development. The initial motivation for building such networks was generally to share storage and printers, which were both expensive at the time. Early Local Area Networks development started in the late 1970 s by enthusiasts and commercial companies. From that time until the present a variation of LAN s design has been offered in the marketplace. However, in the late 1980 s people began to recognize Ethernet as the flavor of choice. The following report will concern only Ethernet. The figure in appendix shows the basic physical layout of a LAN. As illustrated, a LAN contains various data equipment that all need to communicate with each other. A data equipment could be a web server, a printer or a database. Each data equipment constitutes the users of the LAN. The communication between each device is accomplished by sharing a common Transmission Medium. The Transmission Medium is typically some type of cable. This cable provides transmit and receive capability and all needed intelligence. Knowing the physical structure helps us to better understand the potential requirements when designing a LAN. When it comes to design a LAN, not only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Analysis Of The Book The Trojan War A New History Adrian Olivas September 8, 2015 Classics 40 Mr. Smith 4:00 Berry Strauss s The Trojan War a New History Book Review Barry Strauss, professor of classics at Cornell University attempts to redefine a one of history s biggest love affairs, the Trojan War. Strauss explains how certain events and characters from Homers The Odyssey might have actually existed, but also uses modern discoveries from the Bronze Age to compare Homers account to those of Egypt, the Middle East, and etc. While Homer s epic should not be read as a historical document which recounts the Trojan Warhundred percent accurately, it can still be seen as document which embodies some historical truth. The novel as a whole explains the customs, economic standing, fighting styles and beliefs of the Greeks. Strauss s writing style allows for the book to be accessible to both students and historians. He argues that just like Franz Ferdinand was the spark which ignited World War 1, Helen on the other hand was just a spark which escalated an existing tension between the Greeks and Trojans. Strauss s personal input on the war itself gives the novel a different outlook on the Trojan War because, it allows for readers to see beyond the facts and make connections with ideas that Strauss had made with recent discoveries and Homers epic. Strauss sectionalizes the book in 11 chapters, excluding the introduction and conclusion, and in each chapter he covers a different aspect of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Moral Responsibility and Harry Frankfurt The incompatibilists argue that one is morally responsible for what she has done given that she could have done otherwise. Further, they think that if determinism is true then one could not have done otherwise, so if determinism is true, one is not morally responsible for things she has done. In debates surrounding the issue of free will, philosophers have focused on discussing whether determinism is true or false. Harry Frankfurt thinks even though the requirement of alternative possibilities in order to be held morally responsible for our actions seems intuitively plausible, it is a questionable premise in the argument provided by incompatibilists. Frankfurt calls the premise that a person is morally responsible for what he has done only if he could have done otherwise the principle of alternative possibilities or PAP (Frankfurt, 829). He argues that PAP is false and a person can be held morally responsible even if she could not have done otherwise. Frankfurt presents counterexamples to PAP to prove its falsity. He tells us to assume that there is a universal controller that wants to ensure certain outcomes. The controller makes it impossible for an agent to act otherwise, which causes her to act exactly as the controller wishes. Frankfurt argues that in such a case it is true that agent is not responsible for her action and that she could not have done otherwise, but he thinks that the agent s lack of responsibility does not follow from her inability to do otherwise. ... Analysis of Gerrit van Honthorst s Painting, Musical Group on a Balcony The Dutch painter Gerrit van Honthorst was known in Rome as Gherardo delle Notti (Gerard of the Night Scenes) for his striking use of a single light source to illuminate a dark scene. He was successful in bringing Caravaggio s lighting techniques with him to the North, influencing many painters, including Rembrandt. But his painting Musical Group on a Balcony is a departure from his customarily dark depictions. But Honthorst s painting contrasts with both typical ceiling paintings and his own typically Biblical subject matter. As we gaze up toward heaven to look at the painting, we expect to see a Bible story; instead, our eyes are greeted by a merry pastoral scene depicting common people in the midst of a common activity. Unlike many of the paintings that Honthorst saw in Italy, its secular subject parodies the idea of heaven depicted in many ceiling paintings. Instead of looking up to see angels floating in the distant atmosphere, we see a host of normal people. We are even invited to join them, and the simple balcony makes us feel that we need only climb upstairs in order to enjoy the same happiness. Seeing the painting up close also allowed me to observe the emotion on the faces of those in the painting. Every person present is either singing or playing an instrument. One of the lute players stares into the distance, lost in reverie, while the lady singing next to him moves her hand delightfully to the music. As the crowd sings along merrily, her dress slips off her shoulder and the wind gives us a glimpse of her red stockings, adding to the uninhibited and carefree nature of the gathering. The painting is only partially preserved and was most likely wider and possibly twice as long at the time of its composition, making for quite an illusion of merriment. Ticketing for Small Amounts of Marijuana in Canada The Conservative government is considering making legal changes the allow police to, instead of laying charges, issue ticket to those caught with tiny amounts of marijuana. However, these legal changes should not be interpreted as either a legalization or decriminalization of marijuana. Rather they should be interpreted as additional enforcement measures that, should they need them, are available to police officers. Likewise, there is good reason to believe that this novel ticketing system would only apply to simple possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana. Additionally, these tickets would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a fine or presenting a court option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the ability to represent themselves or have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to be softening up when it comes to the legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long ago passed legislation that toughened laws regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some, like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say that the purposed ticketing system does not go far enough and is only a halfway measure. In the majority of states, this is the age when adolescents become eligible for attaining a driver s license. A growing number of people feel that the only way to truly prevent tragedy is to increase the driving age. Most teenagers and parents believe in this system, although many people feel that such action is necessary. A number of states in the United States have already increased the minimum age. These states use graduated licensing programs that put limitations on young drivers. The minimum age for attaining a driver s license should be increased to 18 years old due to numerous factors; these include emotional intelligence, disturbances while driving, and the underdevelopment of the brain. Young drivers need to have the ability to manage and maintain their emotions in order to lower the risk of fatal accidents. Emotions influence the way drivers think and act. When emotions affect a driver s thoughts and actions, they can change the way they assess risk and decision making (Johnson 292). A stable mental state is crucial to driving early in life. Maintaining an attitude of I will always work to manage my emotions when driving is a big step (qtd. in Johnson 294). Personal emotions are very complicated and powerful forces, which correspond with a young driver s behavior. Physical and mental affects of emotions interfere with bodily functions and many behavioral abilities (Johnson 303). Strong emotions can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
