Excused Absences
In case of absence, the parent must write a dated note to the teacher explaining the reason for the

As computer became more commonly used in universities and research labs in the late 1960s, the
need of having high speed interconnections between computer systems within a small region
generated a new interest of Internet development. The initial motivation for building such
networks was generally to share storage and printers, which were both expensive at the time. Early
Local Area Networks development started in the late 1970 s by enthusiasts and commercial
companies. From that time until the present a variation of LAN s design has been offered in the
marketplace. However, in the late 1980 s people began to recognize Ethernet as the flavor of choice.

Barry Strauss, professor of classics at Cornell University attempts to redefine a one of history s
biggest love affairs, the Trojan War. Strauss explains how certain events and characters from
Homers The Odyssey might have actually existed, but also uses modern discoveries from the
Bronze Age to compare Homers account to those of Egypt, the Middle East, and etc. While Homer
s epic should not be read as a historical document which recounts the Trojan Warhundred percent
accurately, it can still be seen as document which embodies some historical truth. The novel as a
whole explains the customs, economic standing, fighting styles and beliefs of the Greeks.
Strauss s writing style allows for the book to be accessible to both students and historians. He
argues that just like Franz Ferdinand was the spark which ignited World War 1, Helen on the
other hand was just a spark which escalated an existing tension between the Greeks and Trojans.
Strauss s personal input on the war itself gives the novel a different outlook on the Trojan War
because, it allows for readers to see beyond the facts and make connections with ideas that Strauss
had made with recent discoveries and Homers epic. Strauss sectionalizes the book in 11 chapters,
excluding the introduction and conclusion, and in each chapter he covers a different aspect of the

The incompatibilists argue that one is morally responsible for what she has done given that she
could have done otherwise. Further, they think that if determinism is true then one could not have
done otherwise, so if determinism is true, one is not morally responsible for things she has done. In
debates surrounding the issue of free will, philosophers have focused on discussing whether
determinism is true or false. Harry Frankfurt thinks even though the requirement of alternative
possibilities in order to be held morally responsible for our actions seems intuitively plausible, it
is a questionable premise in the argument provided by incompatibilists. Frankfurt calls the
premise that a person is morally responsible for what he has done only if he could have done
otherwise the principle of alternative possibilities or PAP (Frankfurt, 829). He argues that PAP is
false and a person can be held morally responsible even if she could not have done otherwise.
Frankfurt presents counterexamples to PAP to prove its falsity. He tells us to assume that there is
a universal controller that wants to ensure certain outcomes. The controller makes it impossible for
an agent to act otherwise, which causes her to act exactly as the controller wishes. Frankfurt argues
that in such a case it is true that agent is not responsible for her action and that she could not have
done otherwise, but he thinks that the agent s lack of responsibility does not follow from her
