MY IMAGE
PLANS
This is the actress/model (my
friend Lydia) I am going to use to
portray my artist. I have chosen
Lydia because I feel as if she fits
what I imagined my artist to
look like to replicate the genre.
This is because she has the
same coloured hair and the
natural style that I was picturing,
which would look perfect tied
up, with perhaps some curls
coming out of the bun.
Her makeup is very natural
looking, which is absolutely
perfect, apart from I will ensure
a bright lipstick colour is added,
to emphasise one feature on her
face.
I really liked her eyes and her
smile, as I feel the innocent,
young looking features on her
face can also easily be matured
with more lipstick and a
different hairstyle, therefore
she is fitting with my target
audience as she will be able to
inspire and relate to the wide
variety of my target audience.
My genre is Jazz, however with
a younger female being the
artist, I feel as if my ambition
of the genre becoming more
modern and upbeat with the
other types of music
nowadays, will ensure my artist
will fit perfectly, but still keep
the unique style, which is vital
for music artists to do, as it’ll
make sure she stands out from
the crowd.I’d either like her to pose smiling and laughing, as if she is
having a wonderful time out with friends to make it look like
she enjoys creating her music so much. Or, I would like to her
pose as if she is looking quite playfully/giggly/sexily to the
side, with perhaps her hand playing with her hair, to create
another personality within her to attract to an even wider
audience too.
Secondly, I chose this location as I wanted my artist
to be sat in a bar/café. I thought this was a nice
setting that was also convenient to both my artist
and I, as it had lovely, slightly dim lighting that
would create a perfect ambience for my genre, as I
feel as if the vintage, old look would look perfect
for Jazz.
I planned out where I would like my artist to sit, which
would be at a table, possibly with food or a drink, with a
plain background. This is so the focus is completely on
my artist so the audience will be able to tell who the
artist is straight away. I also thought about this, because
I am also thinking of photo-shopping some key
instruments to the jazz genre too, therefore I feel as if it
would be too busy to have a busy background too.
For my costume, I want
my artist to be wearing a
brightly coloured top,
possibly a loose blouse
with a V-Neck, as I want
there to be some more
skin showing to attract
the male audience too, as
inspired by Amy
Winehouse, as she was
such a successful Jazz
artist, I thought taking
inspiration from her
album covers would be
influential to my front
cover too. The reason I
want my artist to be
wearing a bright top, is
because of the
background being quite
plain, I want my artist to
stand out even more from
the crowd and grab the
audience’s attention if
this were to be shown on
a shelf with other albums.
(All 3 pictures from
Google Images- used for
inspiration)
I picture my artist’s hair
looking something
similar to this photo, as
this was a typical
hairstyle that I imagine
the audience looked
like when jazz was first
around, creating a
50s/60s vibe, resulting
in the audience being
able to relate to the
artist even more with
the style she portrays.
The props I will use is a
drinks glass, as I want
my artist to look like
she’s having a fun and
enjoyable time on a
day/night out in a bar,
to make the audience
think that this is what
they’ll feel like when
they listen to the
music, therefore will
want to buy the album.
