This document proposes a picture password authentication system using a touchscreen for illiterate users. The system would allow users to create passwords by touching images on the touchscreen in a predefined combination. If the user touches the images in the correct sequence, the microcontroller will authenticate them and grant access to appliances connected to relays. This technique aims to make passwords easier for illiterate users to remember compared to text passwords. A block diagram shows the main components would include a microcontroller, touchscreen module, LCD display, power supply, and relays connected to devices.

with touch screen
ABSTRACT:
The authentication is the key issue everywhere like industries and homes. The
commercial authentication methods involves the password based and conventional lock based
authentication. The main drawback with this commercial methods ia remembering the passwords
and carrying the keys. The passwords will be difficult to remember in case of the authenticated
person is illiterate. They can’t remember the letters and digits as they don’t know them.
The project is aimed to implement an authentication system for industrial/house hold
applications for accessing the appliances by using a ‘Picture Password’ technique. Here we are using
a touch screen module to interface with microcontroller. The touch screen input is a smart technique
for getting the inputs with a finger touch recognition.
The touch screen module will be having some images on it. By using this images, we can
create a password combination with the images. The following figure shows a sample picture
combination.

The person needs to touch the pictures in a predefined combination, then the microcontroller
will decode the password and compares with the predefined password. If the password is matched,
then the user will be authenticated and allowed to access the appliances. The pictures will be easy
to remember rather than a password for illiterates.
