Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implant
In recent discovery by the NBC News humans of the US are predicted to be tagged with
microchips. This medical chip is said to track medical health for every American. According to the
reports, the technology is forced to ask serious questions towards the statement I am who I say I
am. A human microchip implant is an identifying device or an RFID transponder encased in a
small glass and implanted in a human being. RFID stands for radio frequency identification. The
chip is not battery powered, powered instead by a reader that pulls information out of the chip. The
sub dermal implant contains a unique ID number that can be cross references it to a database and
linked to information contained in an external database, such as personal identification,... Show

RFID chips are found in lots of things we use every day, credit cards, pet trackers, to everyday
phones, also connecting with phone apps. Even creepier, the microchip is also found in the
technology that is currently at Disney World s MagicBand, which tracks a wearer s location
within the park and connects to that person s accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact
about the RFID microchip is that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company
called VeriChip actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The
implant was designed to carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a patient s
medical records if he or she were unconscious; however, the chip was discontinued in 2010 over
privacy concerns with HIPPA. Even if the microchip is roughly the shape and size of a grain of rice
and works like a tiny computer, even the tiny computer can catch a virus just as a regular
computer today can. The chances of identity theft becoming more and more common will
increase dramatically. Also with a microchip being so small and fragile it would make it easier
for damaged, even more so for those who have jobs that require hands on. Our number rule in the
medical field is the patient s privacy; with the microchip approved it will only make it our number

Battle Of New France Essay
During the 17th century, the French and Native allies inflicted monumental defeats against
England. At the same time, New France was rapidly expanded into areas of land stretching down
South towards Louisiana. As Settlements began to prosper, Great Britain viewed this growth as a
threat to their position in North American trade, which was the linchpin to war with New France.
Through years of industrious and unwearying battle, The French fought unwaveringly to defend
their colony. Unfortunately, they fell short and lost every installment, one by one. This can be
attributed to many issues of New France during this time. The battle between France and England
was a major catalyst for struggles that preceded and eventually led to the fall of New... Show more

Therefore, they sent very little troops to combat the Americans and defend the New France
colony. France also deemed it vital to protect their colonies in the West Indies because they
thought that sugar cane was more of a lucrative business than the fur trade in New France. The
war between colonies were heavily dependent upon supplies and reinforcements sent by the
mother countries. This was clearly evident because Britain was dedicated to a full forced
takeover versus Britain that sent only what they could spare. The British had a fleet of ships in
their Royal Navy that was a key cog in taking over New France. The British used these ships to
capture French ships sent from France with supplies from entering port. As a result, Louisbourg
was the first domino to fall. In 1758, Louisbourg witnessed this massive fleet of ships enter the
bay and initiate an all out assault on the fortress. Soldiers under the command of General Amherst
and James Wolfe proceeded with the attack but took heavy artillery fire upon their arrival at
shore. They had no choice but to move further upstream, regroup and try a different approach. To
their surprise, Wolfe and his soldiers landed in an area where they were able to unload with ease.
The tables had turned; Louisbourg was now under constantly bombardment. As the fortress started
to crumble under fire, French warships were able to escape the harbor (Dale 46). People hoped for
reinforcements

The Importance Of Clean Water
Have you ever had a dog that gets their water bowl dirty or spills the water? Dogs need water all
the time and every day of their life, but it has to be fresh, clean water. Clean water is very
important to animals, especially dogs because they exercise and run so much. If they don t get
enough water, they can get dehydrated or even die. Some people don t give dogs clean enough
water or even not enough. The cleanness of water is very important to dogs, dogs help with
hunting and sports, they also can be trained or be taught to do something, but the can also get very
dehydrated or get very ill.
Dehydration
When dogs don t drink enough, it causes them to be dehydrated. On the website, it defines
dehydration, Dehydration is a lack of water in the body (Dehydration and Water Needs in Dogs).
Most of the body of dogs is water. Some dogs get way too hot outside and can get dehydrated.
Dehydration can cause many effects in dogs. Dogs will drink more to stay hydrated if it is hotter.
Water is used for most dogs systems. Dog owners have to keep clean water out at all times. If dogs
get too dehydrated, their organs could shut down and they could die ( The Importance of Water for
Dog Nutrition ). Some dogs can get dehydrated easier than others if they have problems or
illnesses. Some symptoms of dehydration are dry mouth or depression. If your dogs are
dehydrated, they need to be taken to the vet. If you always have clean water out for your dogs,
you won t need to worry about

The Battle Of Inchon Landing
The Battle of Inchon Landing

Introduction
On 25 June 1950, North Korea forces launched a surprise invasion on South Korea under the
command of Kim Il sung and the North Korean People s Army. During this time, the North Korean
People s Army forced through the 38th parallel and pushed through the unprepared Republic of
Korea forces to the Southeast Pusan peninsula. The approximately 125 mile defensive perimeter
was where United Nation forces withdrew to by August, 1950 and held that Southeast position of
the peninsula. While UN forces were outnumbered, commanders were in search for a new course
of action that would help skew the war in favor of them. It was then General of the Army Douglas
MacArthur first envisioned his plan for what would become the Battle of Inchon. Inchon is located
in the Northwestern corner of modern South Korea and was a key location for the North Korean
forces. Inchon, located just 25 miles west of the nation s capital, Seoul, was a key location for
North Korean resupplies . Friendly intelligence and air reconnaissance observed that there were two
major supply lines that were along the two major highways coming from both the northeast and
northwest. It was through these two major supply lines that North Korean forces were able to then
disseminate supplies throughout the South Korean peninsula and ultimately down to the Pusan
area in the southeast corner. Because Inchon

Twelve. The age where boys around the world go to junior high for the first time. The age where
some boys have braces on their crooked teeth. The age where the voice of some boys becomes
deeper. Twelve for me means none of that. Twelve marks the year when a member of the Nazi party
could knock on our door and take me away. Twelve marks the age that I might never see my family
again.
Growing up with the frenzy of the war outside my bedroom window seized my childish qualities
and innocence away from me. I do not have the option to play in the street like the others. I
cannot casually walk in the Berlin plaza freely, as it seems that every five seconds a Nazi soldier
stops to question me. I have seen guiltless people shot to death on the sidewalk by ruthless soldiers
under Adolf Hitler s command. I have seen brainwashed boys that I used to go to school with do
the dirty work for Hitler. I have seen things that the little boys and girls in America have not even
seen in their nightmares.
Being only eleven years old, I cannot remember the day my older brother went with the soldiers.
They took him to a camp in order to train in order to be like them. I really only know what my
parents told me, and they don t know that much either. The whole situation still remains a
conundrum, and now it seems that my brother became like those before him, cold and lifeless.
It alarms me that in two

A Model Transformation Approach For Mobile Application
Nowadays, there is no stable model transformation approach for mobile application. Model
transformation is one of the prominent features and the rising research area of Model Driven
Engineering (MDE). There is still gap between software designer and developer because of the
heavyweight of graphical modeling language like Unified Modeling Language(UML). The textual
modeling language attempts to fill the gap between modeling and implementing in the development
lifecycle. The proposed research work intends to transform text based model oriented program to
mobile application. UML Programming Language (Umple) uses the concept of textual modeling as
a technique to reduce differences between the model and the code. The technique of model
transformation is defined by meta model and transformation rule. The proposed work intends to
construct the source meta model for model oriented program and the target meta model for mobile
application. And it also intends to define model transformation rules to bridge the gap between
source and target meta model by using ATLAS (ATL) transformation language. The proposed
system expected to generate the android source project and create, retrieve, update, and delete
(CRUD) android apps.
Although there are already some approaches to model driven development of mobile apps, there is
still gap in model transformation approach for mobile applications. Individual Approaches are in
moving target. The technical space of model transformations still needs

What Is The Formal Analysis Of The Bauhaus
The Bauhaus is a school that opened in 1919 by Walter Gropius. The school focused on bringing
together all forms of art and design making all faculties equal in importance. At first the school was
influenced by The Arts and Crafts movement but after 1923 the focus shifted to mechanized
production. Moholy Nagy, the director of the Bauhausfrom 1923 onward, wanted new solutions for
the problems of industrialization by means of mass production and educating the new generation on
how to create such solutions.
The students, from diverse backgrounds and interests, had to pass a preliminary course before
being admitted into the school and then were part of workshops where they would do practical
work (1923 Bauhaus Online [sa]). The Bauhaus believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another example of this characteristic of being clear and to the point without distracting the eye
would be the lack of tonal and textual variation in the design. Schmidt has made this poster as
simple and clear as possible so that his message could be understood the first time it was viewed
and so it would give a timeless overall impression.
The poster was well designed and clearly indicates all the aspects of the new Bauhaus s design
characteristics. This is why it is a perfect example of what should be used to exhibit the new
school, so the public can be aware of the changes made in the school beforehand. Schmidt, as an
educator at the facility, fully understands and believes in the new Bauhaus aims and shows this in
his amazing designs. The Bauhaus not only intended on solving the problems of society and
improving the way people lived but also wanted to unite the people through their

Lumbar Disc Pathology
A Literature Review on Pertinent Imaging Findings for Lumbar Disc Pathology What these
Images Are Holding to Guide in Physical Therapy Treatments Physical therapists provide a multi
approach in treatment of discogenic low back pain. Most of the common approaches available
include manual therapy, lumbar stabilization, yoga, swimming and traction. Depending on the
stage and severity of disk pathology, it is mostly a therapist s preference when it comes to what
intervention is applied. There are no clear cut, well defined practice guidelines as when is it more
meaningful and effective to choose manual therapy for this stage of disc pathology, versus that of
traction for another phase. Hence, this literature study will try to look into the more... Show more

However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when
prescribing exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative
changes although there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung,
Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation.
Sitting is also associated with loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression,
and height loss, possibly increasing the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. A., Smith,
F. W. (2010). Hence, offering variable positions when exercising patients best minimizes seated
exercises. Little is known about the correlation between the extent of disc herniation and clinical
signs and symptoms, neither were there any reported correlation between improvement in
functions nor the pain reduction as visually reported, other than the reduction in sizes of disc
herniation among the four segment levels (L2 L3 = n 6, L3 L4 n=17, L4 L5 n= 51 c, and L5 S1
n= 4), indicative of morphological regression of herniated disk during their repeated MR as
reported by the research of Unlu, Tasci, Tarhan, Pabuscu, Islak in 2008. Hence, physical assessment

Violent Crimes In America
To begin, today in America there is a lot controversy going on in relation to this topic. Statistics
show that violent crimes are dropping over recent years. These groups are made up of people
who want guns to be banned entirely. They believe that no average citizen should have a gun at all
and some even wish the take guns away from law enforcement officers. The arguments against this
first group of people is that is we ban guns criminals will continue to have them, but no one else
will have a gunin order to stop them. A lot of criminals do not use legal means to get guns; they
are more likely to go through the black market or other illegal means. However, the other extreme
side of the gun debate is held by people who are worried that the

Essay on Madness and Ambition in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar
Even the noblest men can be seduced by power; it has the power to kill, to distort, and to corrupt
Through this passage, Matthew Sims captures in essence how individuals often turn to betrayal
and deception in order to gain their heart s desires. This characteristic is not only present in life,
but can also be seen in modern and classical literature, including the well known work of Julius
Caesar. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, the lust for power transcends any one individual and
ultimately leads to death and corruption of not only Caesar, but also of Brutus and Cassius. The
play begins with Caesar parading through the streets of Rome as he triumphs in his victory over
Pompey. However, Brutus, Cassius, and many others hatch a plot to... Show more content on

By ignoring the decrees of the Republic in an effort to become an autocrat, he undermined the
Roman political system through murder, deceit, and lawlessness. However, moral integrity is
not the only thing lost by Gaius Julius Caesar. As previously stated, a person s greed often leads
to their demise. This is most evident with Caesar himself. Caesar was willing to betray Pompey,
his once friend and ally, in order to gain sole control over the Republic. In fact, Caesar s drive to
control the city began to evoke the jealousy and fears of many of the inhabitants, You show d
your teeth like apes, and fawn d like hounds, and bow d like bondmen, kissing Caesar s feet.
(Shakespeare Act V, Sc.I, lines 47 48). Ultimately this authority causes Brutus to come to the
conclusion that Caesar s tyranny must be prevented through his death (Sims). Caesar s
newfound power put Brutus, his former supporter, in a position where the only way to save the
republic would be to depose of its current leader. Caesar s demise was indirectly caused by his
hunger for power, which caused Brutus to kill him in order to stop the would be dictator (Sims).
The idea of deposing Caesar spread like wildfire through the Senate and eventually escalated into
murder. Clearly, it was Caesar s desire to command those around him that in due course led to his
death; however, he alone is not the

brands itself as a lifestyle focused brand, fulfilling esteem needs, acting like a fashion accessory
that reflects his or her personality to his or her social circles. According to Burt s Bees VP of
Marketing, Lip balm is becoming something more like a gum product that brightens up consumers
[and] you re starting to see a lot more of what I would call personality driven and lifestyle focused
advertising, and we re focused on the flavours as a way to reinforce the fun aspect of the brand .
(Oster, 2014) Though lip balm is defined as a convenience good due to its high distribution and
accessibility, the mindset consumers have now resembles the higher involvement needed for
shopping products (i.e. quality, style, and most importantly, suitability.)
These three samples from their marketing campaign all reinforce this perception. Yes, people need
lipbalm to moisturize their lips, but they want a lipbalm that reflects their inner self. Its TV ads
and print ads feature beautiful, intricate ways of showing off the personalities of the individual lip
balms. The Vines do the same by weaving in music. In none of these three samples do they mention
any functional benefits it s all about art, music, and most importantly, fun and personality. At the
core, Burt s Bees flavoured lipbalm is about self expression, and the happiness people feel after
expressing themselves.

Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride
How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate
and the calcium chloride?
Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates
how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help
heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels
tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium
nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate
from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the
cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate
to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack
is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to
increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the
affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the
cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a
hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates
the hot pack.

The Perception Of A Infant s Visual System
The phenomena of perception refer to the sensory processes that enables human beings to recognize
and organized the information that is received from the environment. Such process allows
individuals to perceive the world and objects. For such process to occur, theorists research visual
perceptual patterns during the period of infancy. Research has found that there are differences
between the way a newborn infantperceives the world in comparison to adults, as their visual system
is not fully developed at such an early age. An infant s visual system is heterochronus which
disables them from seeing a complete view of the world, compared to adults.
An individual s visual system is constructed by different components. The eye and the brain
perform different functions and go through different processes from the moment light is reflected
from an object to actually obtaining visual recognition. Vision relies on the response of the
nervous system to the light that has been reflected from an object, during this process many parts
of the human eye are active. When a ray of light enters the pupil of the eye, the cornea refracts the
lights and focuses the lights on the lens which focuses the light at the back of the eye in the retina.
The retina then converts the light via optic nerves which enables the information to be processed
in the brain, enabling visual recognition of the image which we see (Wade, 2001). This process is
necessary, so individuals are able to comprehend what is

Nuclear Spring Peter Macoblic Analysis
Peter Scoblic author of Nuclear Spring, states, there is one justification for nuclear power that the
industry and its consumers will increasingly deploy to disarm critics: climate change, .3 Most
people today are aware of the energy benefits nuclear power can bring. Yet even I was unaware,
that nuclear powerdoesn t affect climate change.
In Scoblic s document, it discusses how people began protesting nuclear power plants but are
starting to change their opinions. Patrich Moore was a part of an organization called
Greenpeace, who was against nuclear power plants, claiming nuclear energy could save the
planet.3 While I believe nuclear power can help, I don t foresee a significant amount of change.
I m not sure what it takes to build a power plant, but I feel like it could create a lot of pollution

A Doll s House by Henrik Isben
In the 1900 s women were not granted with similar privileges as men. Economic suppression,
limited education, and lack of civil rights were the primary issues for women. In the play A Doll
s House, Henrik Isben creates the realization of female oppression through the creation of the
character, Nora. Nora is a woman, whose whole life is ruled by either her father or husband.
Nora Helmer, tries hard to perform the roles expected of a woman, which, however, has led to
her sacrifice of individual ideals and fulfillment of personal freedom. Ibsen reveals Nora s grasp of
independence through his use of symbolism, irony, and development of characters. Nora s first
impression of the audience is being an obedient, money loving, childish wife. In... Show more

who has faces being independent on her own. With the privilege of having school, she
demonstrates how having freedom is a hard struggle however it is attainable. Nora s realization
of woman independence then, drives to show how she has created actions for herself. This can
be seen in the conversation between Mrs Linde and her Mrs. Linde: [smiling] Well, good

whole project of saving Helmer s life behind everyone s back to show her independent capability.
Throughout the play Ibsen uses symbolism to emphasize Nora s oppression and uprising. In the

in response she lied. Helmer does not want Nora to eat macaroon due to his desire to have a

The Reluctant Fundamentalist By Mohsin Hamid And Lucy By...
Does money makes the world go round? In the obvious sense, yes. Money is the backbone of the
financial systems that enable and regulate the creation, distribution, and consumption of goods and
services. Yet, it is also the foundation of many of our world s inequalities. Namely, it is the basis
of social classes. Through history, the wealthy have always appeared to end up on top. They
always seem to get the upper hand. As a consequence, the upper class often have a certain air of
arrogance and/or ignorance. In the novels The Reluctant Fundamentalistby Mohsin Hamidand Lucy
by Jamaica Kincaid, the authors address this idea. Both Hamid and Kincaid utilize interactions
between wealthy Americans and immigrants to demonstrate how wealthy American s arrogance or
ignorance alienates non Americans. Whereas Hamid uses Changez primarily focus on the effects
of arrogance, Kincaid uses Lucy as a critical observer of the effects of ignorance.
In Hamid s novel, Changez, a hopeful, educated, upper middle class Pakistani man encounters
with wealthy, entitled Americans causes him to feel isolated and alters his perception of
America. Changez first experiences American s sense of privilege when he visits Greece.
Changez s friends easily blow money on vacationing delights, thinking nothing (Hamid 21) of the

The Evolution Of Species Extinction
Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect
human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat
fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions.
The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in
the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter
species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and
threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low

Short Story
Goals
The grey fog comes in, there is mist in the air, the cold wind increases my alertness and the
uneasiness of everyone causes silence for a brief moment until the high pitched blow of a whistle
starts it all. This sounds like a setting to a suspenseful corny movie but really it s just a typical
gameday here at San Francisco State University.
Unlike all other game days, this one is very special. We take on UC San Diego in hopes of securing
a playoff spot. My emotions have been running all over the place, and no it s not because I am a
young adult trying to get through college. I have been playing soccer for 15 years already so it is
safe to say that soccer is my life. All I do is constantly train to get better and improve as much as I
can and today is my chance to showcase my talent at the highest level I ve played at so far. It s my
second year at SFSU and my second year playing soccer here and with 20 games already recorded
for me at the school, I should be coming into the game with a cool head but I am far from it.
Chills run down my spine as I put on my cleats to complete my uniform. During our warm ups I
try and clear my mind and enjoy the music but I can t even accomplish doing that. 30 minutes go
by like it is nothing and I already hear the referee calling for the captains to do the coin toss right
before the game is about to begin.
Huddle up boys! Are you guys ready today! RRRRRRRR! This is the swamp baby! We don t lose

Good day class, I am Heather Romine, a doctoral student from Northcentral University.
I am here today to discuss... ethical viewpoints by analyzing a case study: evil in the basement
from the Book Meeting Ethical Challenges in Leadership by C. E. Johnson (2013). Does everyone
understand what ethical viewpoints mean?
Ethical viewpoints are statements that define an individuals believes, in terms of morals, values,
and ethics. Your lives are governed by your ethical viewpoint. These values are learned and
developed as you grow from a child to an adult.
Now that you understand the term ethical viewpoints. Let us begin to focus on our objective for

Cherry Bomb Maxine Clair Analysis
Cherry Bombs, Hairy Man, and a Crazy summer Cherry bomb is a story about Maxine Clair s
crazy fifth grade summer. In the passage, Cherry Bomb, Maxine Clair characterizes key
memories of her fifth grade summer world. Clair uses symbolism, tone, and diction to
characterize her memories about her youthful, innocent, and happy fifth grade summer. Maxine
Clair uses symbolism throughout the passage to represent happiness and innocence of childhood
. For example, in the second paragraph Clair uses the word, hairy man as a symbol. Hairy man is
described as a symbol of fear. This represents the innocent part of the story, how she was afraid of
this imaginary monster. Another symbol that Clair discusses, cigar box. The cigar... Show more

Clair says, daddy said so, in the second paragraph. The puerile tone is evident when Clair uses
Daddy . It shows how the author is playful and childish. This adds to the characterizing of
memories in a happy way. My box of private things, is an excellent example of her restrained
tone. The author is trying to be reserve and private in the third paragraph. The restrained helps
capture the youthful mood of the story. It does this by not going into depth, which makes the
story seem like a child is telling it. I kept it in my cigar box as a sort of momento of good time, is
another example of Clair s tone. The tone Clair uses is melancholy, she uses this tone to describe
how things have changed, and is feeling a bit remorse. The melancholy makes the author seem less
innocent, by discussing how she doesn t want things to change. The different tones throughout each
paragraph contributes to the characterizing of memories. The tone also helps display the coming of
age part of the passage. In the beginning of the childhood children are happy and innocent, so Clair
uses a puerile tone. While growing up children become more private, and the author emphasizes this
with a restrained tone. During the time when children are becoming older they experience sadness,
and lose some of their innocence, so Maxine Clair uses a melancholy tone. Additionally the
different tones contribute

Introduction Conflict is a natural part of any work environment. What considers it healthy conflict
is how the individuals involved respond? Handling and resolving conflicts that arise in the
workplace is one of the biggest challenges managers and employees face. The consequences of
health care workers conflict are many. Patton goes on stating, At best, conflicts result in beneficial
changes in the workplace; at worst, it can impact patients lives. (Patton, 2013) By learning to
constructively resolve conflict, we can turn a potentially destructive situation into an opportunity
for creativity and enhancement for performance. Janice Frates stated, ...,having work teams at all
organizational levels openly and vigorously debate their ideas is a form of healthy conflict that
produces both stronger team relationships and better work outcomes. In regards to the St. Clair
Hospital plan for cost control, a healthy conflict did not arise.
Types of Conflict Identified Types of conflict identified throughout this particular case study would
include intrapersonal conflict and inter organizational conflict. Frates explained that intrapersonal
conflict is when the interdependence of departments within an organization can lead to conflict

Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish Essay
ReviewWith a writing style that is enabled by an obvious adoration of the subject, Neil Shubin
explores the predecessors of the human species in his book Your Inner Fish. Shubin draws upon his
unique background as a paleontologist, embryologist, and geneticist to trace defining phenotypical
traits that are inherent to humans to even the simplest of organisms. He delves into the difficult
details of evolutionthat have long remained mysteries until recent years, specifically analyzing the
transition from water to land, the rise of vision, basic body plans and scent. The magic of the book
is that although these discoveries required the brightest minds of the past two centuries, Shubin
unwraps them in a delightful manner that is interesting to both high school student and university
professor. Your Inner Fish is meant to be persuasive, to educate and formulate opinions. By tracking
these seeming complexities of humandevelopment, Shubin attempts to persuade a broad audience
in the veracity of the common ancestor. Although the premise of the book is based on evolution,
Shubin s purpose in writing the book cannot be defined by such broad terms. He is not interested in
simply proving that evolution occurs; in fact, he treats such a consensus as being already
understood. It is the actual mechanism that interests Shubin, the path that was taken by the
common ancestor that eventually whereon organisms diverged and became the human species. The

Essay about Troubles with Eminent Domain in Iceland
Iceland recognizes the issue of eminent domain, as they have had trouble with this in regards to
geothermal deposits. However, they agree with the ECHR regarding rights to fair compensation.
Governments should only take property if it will benefit the public as a whole.
In any case of mandatory purchase, the purchased property should be used for the public good.
The government must have proof of a plan to use the property to improve the lives of the public
before the property can be purchased. Property must also be purchased in accordance with law,
which will vary from country to country.
Compensation must be provided to the person whose property is being bought. Each country

There is also something to be said for the boost economies gain once there citizens are able to
have families they have planned, and can adequately provide for. This being said, Iceland believes
all countries in United Nations should provide their citizens with contraceptives and information
regarding their use. This may be done through requiring coverage in health insurance plans,
reducing the price of contraceptives, and/or dropping any bans they may have on contraceptives. In
addition, a wide variety of contraceptives should be available both which are for male and/or
female use. It is recommended birth control pills, and female and male condoms. This provides
citizens with a wide range of options, and the ability to choose what works for them. Religion or
cultural belief should not interfere with access to reproductive health services. These services
not only prevent pregnancies, but also prevent the spread of disease and reduce risks of cancer.
Citizens should have proper education regarding the use, benefits and downfalls of these services.
Iceland recommends this begin in primary school. This will give citizens the right to choose what
works for them, if they choose to use any at all. Religious and personal ideals are to be respected,
and no one should be forced into the use of contraceptives. However, no one should be denied them
either.

Essay On The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of great reform in ideas and knowledge. It was such an important
part of history, that it took many people and many years to fully bring it into play. This time in life
was all about change, such as the education of women, the separation of science and church, and the
freedom to learn without government censorship. Someone people were on board with the
movement, but others fought against the great ideals of Enlightenment. Although, it is sure that
without the Enlightenment, our world would be very different today, and not in a good way.

In the 1690 s John Toland published a book titled Christianity Not Mysterious, in which he said,
Why should we have religious doctrines or dogmas at all?... Why not find a set of reasonable
principles based on nature s laws on which everyone could agree? (Jacob p42). Ideas like this had
become more common since the enlightenment, though most were not this extreme in hoping the
form religious unity.
Another change that occurred during enlightenment was the education of women. During the time
of Absolutism, women were seen as under their husband s authority and control. Women
received minimal education and if they did by chance receive a higher education, they hardly
had a voice of their own to advocate ideas. When the era of enlightenment arrived, many men
started to realized the importance and value in a woman s education. One of the major examples
of what a women s education can bring to society, was displayed through the career of Mary
Wortley Montagu. Montagu was known for taking a public stance on inoculation, practicing it on
her own children and introducing it before it became a common practice in Europe. Montagu
traveled to many places in Europe and learned from her cultural experiences. She even spoke of
educational rights in Germany, She went from city to city and decried the power of the absolutist
princes over their subjects (Jacob p24). Her work inspired many women to become educated and

If two centenarians are Christians and both die on his hundredth birthday, one was serving God
faithfully for ninety years and the other became a Christian the day before he died, then be assured
that God will welcome them both into heaven. There is absolutely nothing unfair or unjust about
this.
The length of time you serve God has nothing to do with the gift of eternal life (same as going to
heaven) for no one has ever earned or will ever merit eternal life which is based solely on the
acceptance of Jesus Christ through faith in his redemptive work on the cross of Calvary. Because
salvation is never by merit it therefore does not matter how long or short a time you have been
serving the Lord. In all scripture there is one outstanding example of this principle and it is
found in Matthew 20:1 16. In this scripture you can see that the workers who started to work at
5pm got the same wages as those who started at 6am bright and early. The powerful point to
observe in all this is that each received what was promised and nobody was cheated. God has made
this promise, ...that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John
3:16) and he never fails to honour it.

The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan
In the movie, The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, Joker, the immoral character, tries to create
a state of dilemma in people s point of view. This movie was aired in 2008, and it is known for
its action and adventure genre. Joker tries to evoke the citizens of Gotham by putting them in

The film opens with a group of thugs wearing clown masks rubbing a bank. However, during the

Essay On Prostate Cancer Screening
Prostate Cancer Screening: An Analysis The paper Prostate Cancer Screening is written as an
analysis of the controversy on the use of screening for prostate cancer. The paper itself is written
between doctors Elie Mulhem, Nikolaus Fulbright, and Norah Duncan. The analysis, while likely
directed to those in the medical field, is tailored to be easily understood by laypeople. While the
paper itself is a somewhat brief, surface level analysis of the situation, it does support the notion that
prostatecancerscreening through methods like prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing and digital
rectal examinations (DRE) have questionable effectiveness. The intention of the paper appears to

The first reason being the level accuracy of PSA testing is questionable. The test determines a
positive for the cancer based on the levels of prostate specific antigens in the blood of the patient,
which can be abnormally high for multiple other reasons not related to prostate cancer. The major
evidence supporting said claim is that individuals with more than 4.0 ng per mL (the threshold to
test positive) can have false positive rates of 70% (Mulhem 2). The second reason would be the
implications of testing positive for prostate cancer, including but not limited to unnecessary
treatment of the disease. While the analysis does not back up unnecessary treatment with any
statistical evidence, it does go to explain further tests and procedures to confirm and understand
the nature of the patient s condition. This bleeds over to the negative physical and psychological
side effects of regular prostate cancer screening cited by the analysis. Mulhem explains that after
testing positive for prostate cancer, more tests are performed to determine the accuracy of the
screening and if so, reveal the specificities of the cancer. The most common of these tests being the
prostate biopsy, a procedure that causes a significant portion of participants to develop moderate to
severe problems requiring a follow up with their doctor (Mulhem

Differences Between New England And Middle Colonies

countries. The Middle colonies consisted of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
The New England colonies consisted of New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut and

Presbyterian, Church of England, Dutch Reformed, Dutch Lutheran, Seven Day Baptist, German

Europeans frowned upon the idea of religious freedom. The freedom to express religious or non

Is Technology Ruining The Quality Of Communication
Our daily life is stuffed up with emails, text messages and constant social media. All of this raises
a question about whether technology is ruining or enhancing the quality of interaction with others
that we need as human beings. Sherry Turkle in her essay, No Need to Call and Jenna Wortham in
her essay, I Had a Nice time with You Tonight On the App explores this question but take opposing
positions. Turkle argues that technology is posing a threat to the human race by ruining the quality
of interaction in between people, while Wortham argues technology is a great source for many
people in different ways, she also believes romantic and intimate conversations can still take place
through technology. Based on my personal experiences, both arguments have merit: Technology
can impair as well as enhance our relationships with others based on a determination of people how
and what ways they use technology. We know our voice sometimes reveals some of our emotions.
The quality of the human voicehas the ability to help people gain information about how someone
else may be feeling. Whether they are happy, sad, emotional or stressed. Their facial expression
and the tone of their voice adds meaning to the conversation. In Sherry Turkle essay she explains
how people can hide their emotions through text messages and emails. She illustrates this with her
example of Tara and her close friend Alice experience of loss. Tara expressed, She would have

Chewing Gum Comparison
Contrast to what most people believe, chewing gum is ancient. There has been evidence of man
chewing tree sap as far back as the ancient Greeks. The Greeks used resien from the mastic tree as
an early form of gum. It wasn t until 1848 that John B. Curtis saw the potential of producing gum.
His first product was called State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum. Curtis was not the only one who saw
the potential in gum. Thomas Adams was working with chicle, which is sap from the sophodilla
tree, to use as a substitute for rubber. He eventually gave up and added flavoring to his mixture,
creating chewing gum. In 1871 Adams invented a machine with the sole purpose of producing

Knowing how to blow an air bubble in the elastic treat is a trick every child must learn. Chewing

2.6 The impacts of the Civil War on forest management in Liberia
The fourteen years of civil war in Liberia results in a class of marginalized young people who
currently lack trust in their government or any kind of institutions for that matter (Richards,
Archibald, Bruce et al., 2005). These young people, who make up more than half of the
population in the country, believe that the administrative justice has failed them. As a result,
these young people preferred to take chances with various rebel groups during the civil war
(2005). In order to erase these beliefs, a study suggested that a new peacebuilding approach is
necessary. This new approach, authors argue, is an inclusive Community driven Development
(CDD). Richards and his colleagues (2005) also argue that this process is capable of playing a
crucial role in shaping different kinds of societies, provided those societies incorporate
marginalized and socially excluded populations in the rebuilding process. This new approach calls
for equal participation of all interested parties in the distribution and management of states natural

Bob Ewells In Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird
16Describe the home life of the Ewells. The Ewells are a very poor family with may children.
The father is always drunk and he abuses every one of his children. Mayella, Bob Ewell s eldest
daughter, is often assaulted and it can be inferred that she was raped by her father. The Ewell
family is so poor that they live at the town dump, a place where they also receive their food. The
Ewell kids go to school on the first day of school every year only in order to avoid trouble with the
law. 17(a) Explain the main points which Atticus establishes in his questioning of Bob and Mayella
Ewell and Tom Robinson. (b) Summarize Atticus s speech to the jury. Through his questioning of
Bob and Mayella Ewell and Tom Robinson, Atticus establishes Tom

It was Jem s turn to cry. His face streaked with angry tears as we made our way through the
cheerful crowd. It ain t right, he muttered... (page 212) Miss Stephanie does not reveal a strong
reaction to the verdict. Rather, she simply is interested in gossiping by asking the children
questions about the trial. Scout tells the reader that Miss Stephanie was curious, Did Atticus put
us up there as a sort of ? Wasn t it right close up there with all those ? Did Scout understand all the
? (page 214) Dill becomes very upset and irritable due to the verdict although he does not
expressly state it. His angry and disappointed attitude in reference to the verdict is shown by his
interactions after the verdict. Well I m gonna be a new kind of clown. I m gonna stand in the
middle of the ring and laugh at the folks. (page 216) Through this rant of Dill s, his distress and
anger towards the verdict is shown as he wants to grow up and be able to just laugh instead of
being sad. Miss Maudie Atkinson seems to be unsurprised at the guilty verdict and very calm about
the situation, acting as if nothing had happened of importance. Suddenly she[Miss Maudie] spoke:
Don t fret, Jem. Things are never as bad as they seem. (page

Gender in African WomenВґs Writing Essay
The identity of African women juxtaposed to the Western women s identity is a hard concept for
one to grasp. The word feminism is merely looked at from one perspective, the western
perspective. The reality of feminism is that everywhere in the world has a different idea of what
feminism is defined as and what it should look like. However there is one central theme that
applies to feminists around the world, which is a feminist is someone who goes against traditional
roles of a womanin their society to better their genderas a whole.
These strong, and independent African women authors use insightful and educational language,
which invites the western world to be a part of their world through the power of literature. One of

However, the African feminist is a woman who does not stay In a loveless marriage, she does
not allow herself to remain uneducated, and she certainly does not allow herself to be
categorized as a minority. In order for a woman to achieve these goals she has to take extreme
risks and jeopardize the one life she knows. The term rebel has been used often when African
women describe themselves and from their definition a rebel is a feminist. In Aidoo s, Changes
we are introduced to a woman who has so much self respect for herself that she transforms
herself into an African feminist. She takes a modern stance on femininity and this is refreshing
change. This woman refuses to be walked all over by some man who tells her what she can and
cannot do. She leaves the life she knows and risks it all in order to be free and feel that no one is
judging her for having a high paying job as a female. Women are often worried how other females
will judge them and or be jealous of their accomplishments. It is women like this that make women
all over the world see the many possibilities that lay before them, no matter what their current
situation.
Women in Africawho do not rebel and sadly do not become a feminist are grouped in a category
that one could consider as the outsiders . Women who fear to be feminists fall into a trap, which
becomes a vicious cycle and makes it almost impossible for them

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implant In recent discovery by the NBC News humans of the US are predicted to be tagged with microchips. This medical chip is said to track medical health for every American. According to the reports, the technology is forced to ask serious questions towards the statement I am who I say I am. A human microchip implant is an identifying device or an RFID transponder encased in a small glass and implanted in a human being. RFID stands for radio frequency identification. The chip is not battery powered, powered instead by a reader that pulls information out of the chip. The sub dermal implant contains a unique ID number that can be cross references it to a database and linked to information contained in an external database, such as personal identification,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... RFID chips are found in lots of things we use every day, credit cards, pet trackers, to everyday phones, also connecting with phone apps. Even creepier, the microchip is also found in the technology that is currently at Disney World s MagicBand, which tracks a wearer s location within the park and connects to that person s accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact about the RFID microchip is that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company called VeriChip actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The implant was designed to carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a patient s medical records if he or she were unconscious; however, the chip was discontinued in 2010 over privacy concerns with HIPPA. Even if the microchip is roughly the shape and size of a grain of rice and works like a tiny computer, even the tiny computer can catch a virus just as a regular computer today can. The chances of identity theft becoming more and more common will increase dramatically. Also with a microchip being so small and fragile it would make it easier for damaged, even more so for those who have jobs that require hands on. Our number rule in the medical field is the patient s privacy; with the microchip approved it will only make it our number ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the same time, New France was rapidly expanded into areas of land stretching down South towards Louisiana. As Settlements began to prosper, Great Britain viewed this growth as a threat to their position in North American trade, which was the linchpin to war with New France. Through years of industrious and unwearying battle, The French fought unwaveringly to defend their colony. Unfortunately, they fell short and lost every installment, one by one. France also deemed it vital to protect their colonies in the West Indies because they thought that sugar cane was more of a lucrative business than the fur trade in New France. The war between colonies were heavily dependent upon supplies and reinforcements sent by the mother countries. This was clearly evident because Britain was dedicated to a full forced takeover versus Britain that sent only what they could spare. The British had a fleet of ships in their Royal Navy that was a key cog in taking over New France. The British used these ships to capture French ships sent from France with supplies from entering port. As a result, Louisbourg was the first domino to fall. In 1758, Louisbourg witnessed this massive fleet of ships enter the bay and initiate an all out assault on the fortress. Soldiers under the command of General Amherst and James Wolfe proceeded with the attack but took heavy artillery fire upon their arrival at shore. They had no choice but to move further upstream, regroup and try a different approach. To their surprise, Wolfe and his soldiers landed in an area where they were able to unload with ease. The tables had turned; Louisbourg was now under constantly bombardment. As the fortress started to crumble under fire, French warships were able to escape the harbor (Dale 46). Hoover Warrant Officer Basic Course 02 14 CW3 DATE Introduction On 25 June 1950, North Korea forces launched a surprise invasion on South Korea under the command of Kim Il sung and the North Korean People s Army. During this time, the North Korean People s Army forced through the 38th parallel and pushed through the unprepared Republic of Korea forces to the Southeast Pusan peninsula. The approximately 125 mile defensive perimeter was where United Nation forces withdrew to by August, 1950 and held that Southeast position of the peninsula. While UN forces were outnumbered, commanders were in search for a new course of action that would help skew the war in favor of them. It was then General of the Army Douglas MacArthur first envisioned his plan for what would become the Battle of Inchon. Inchon is located in the Northwestern corner of modern South Korea and was a key location for the North Korean forces. Inchon, located just 25 miles west of the nation s capital, Seoul, was a key location for North Korean resupplies . Friendly intelligence and air reconnaissance observed that there were two major supply lines that were along the two major highways coming from both the northeast and northwest. It was through these two major supply lines that North Korean forces were able to then disseminate supplies throughout the South Korean peninsula and ultimately down to the Pusan area in the southeast corner. However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when prescribing exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative changes although there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung, Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation. Sitting is also associated with loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression, and height loss, possibly increasing the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. Essay on Madness and Ambition in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar Even the noblest men can be seduced by power; it has the power to kill, to distort, and to corrupt Through this passage, Matthew Sims captures in essence how individuals often turn to betrayal and deception in order to gain their heart s desires. This characteristic is not only present in life, but can also be seen in modern and classical literature, including the well known work of Julius Caesar. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, the lust for power transcends any one individual and ultimately leads to death and corruption of not only Caesar, but also of Brutus and Cassius. However, moral integrity is not the only thing lost by Gaius Julius Caesar. As previously stated, a person s greed often leads to their demise. This is most evident with Caesar himself. Caesar was willing to betray Pompey, his once friend and ally, in order to gain sole control over the Republic. In fact, Caesar s drive to control the city began to evoke the jealousy and fears of many of the inhabitants, You show d your teeth like apes, and fawn d like hounds, and bow d like bondmen, kissing Caesar s feet. Caesar s newfound power put Brutus, his former supporter, in a position where the only way to save the republic would be to depose of its current leader. Caesar s demise was indirectly caused by his hunger for power, which caused Brutus to kill him in order to stop the would be dictator (Sims). • 15. Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate and the calcium chloride? Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack. The Perception Of A Infant s Visual System The phenomena of perception refer to the sensory processes that enables human beings to recognize and organized the information that is received from the environment. Such process allows individuals to perceive the world and objects. For such process to occur, theorists research visual perceptual patterns during the period of infancy. Research has found that there are differences between the way a newborn infantperceives the world in comparison to adults, as their visual system is not fully developed at such an early age. An infant s visual system is heterochronus which disables them from seeing a complete view of the world, compared to adults. An individual s visual system is constructed by different components. The eye and the brain perform different functions and go through different processes from the moment light is reflected from an object to actually obtaining visual recognition. Vision relies on the response of the nervous system to the light that has been reflected from an object, during this process many parts of the human eye are active. When a ray of light enters the pupil of the eye, the cornea refracts the lights and focuses the lights on the lens which focuses the light at the back of the eye in the retina. The retina then converts the light via optic nerves which enables the information to be processed in the brain, enabling visual recognition of the image which we see (Wade, 2001). This process is necessary, so individuals are able to comprehend what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Evolution Of Species Extinction Globally, most of the species (both flora and fauna) are under serious threat from direct and indirect human activities; while the direct activities such as deforestation leads to species habitat fragmentation and loss, on the other hand modifies climatic conditions coupled with gas emissions. The synergistic impact of these human driven activities questions the survivability of organisms in the morphed climatic environments. At one level fragmented habitats increase intra and inter species competitions, resulting in decline of population of species, grouping them under rare and threatened category. At other level, the amplified global temperatures in parallel with low precipitation rates, not only creates unsuitable external habitat conditions but also impose internal changes in biological clock and physiological processes of the organisms, in additions to their life history traits (Reynold et al. 2003, Price and Gittleman, 2007). This kind of changed scenario both externally and internally, brings incompatibility in the organism to cope with fluctuating climatic conditions, finally making the species as vulnerable and forcing into the process of extinction. The process of species extinction accelerated with rapid human activities and in the current scenario, many species are in the queue of extinction. Maxine Clair uses symbolism throughout the passage to represent happiness and innocence of childhood . For example, in the second paragraph Clair uses the word, hairy man as a symbol. This adds to the characterizing of memories in a happy way. My box of private things, is an excellent example of her restrained tone. The author is trying to be reserve and private in the third paragraph. The restrained helps capture the youthful mood of the story. It does this by not going into depth, which makes the story seem like a child is telling it. I kept it in my cigar box as a sort of momento of good time, is another example of Clair s tone. The tone Clair uses is melancholy, she uses this tone to describe how things have changed, and is feeling a bit remorse. The melancholy makes the author seem less innocent, by discussing how she doesn t want things to change. The different tones throughout each paragraph contributes to the characterizing of memories. The tone also helps display the coming of age part of the passage. In the beginning of the childhood children are happy and innocent, so Clair uses a puerile tone. While growing up children become more private, and the author emphasizes this with a restrained tone. During the time when children are becoming older they experience sadness, and lose some of their innocence, so Maxine Clair uses a melancholy tone. Additionally the different tones contribute ... Neil Shubin s Your Inner Fish Essay ReviewWith a writing style that is enabled by an obvious adoration of the subject, Neil Shubin explores the predecessors of the human species in his book Your Inner Fish. Shubin draws upon his unique background as a paleontologist, embryologist, and geneticist to trace defining phenotypical traits that are inherent to humans to even the simplest of organisms. He delves into the difficult details of evolutionthat have long remained mysteries until recent years, specifically analyzing the transition from water to land, the rise of vision, basic body plans and scent. The magic of the book is that although these discoveries required the brightest minds of the past two centuries, Shubin unwraps them in a delightful manner that is interesting to both high school student and university professor. Your Inner Fish is meant to be persuasive, to educate and formulate opinions. By tracking these seeming complexities of humandevelopment, Shubin attempts to persuade a broad audience in the veracity of the common ancestor. Although the premise of the book is based on evolution, Shubin s purpose in writing the book cannot be defined by such broad terms. He is not interested in simply proving that evolution occurs; in fact, he treats such a consensus as being already understood. It is the actual mechanism that interests Shubin, the path that was taken by the common ancestor that eventually whereon organisms diverged and became the human species. The beginning of the book ... The first reason being the level accuracy of PSA testing is questionable. The test determines a positive for the cancer based on the levels of prostate specific antigens in the blood of the patient, which can be abnormally high for multiple other reasons not related to prostate cancer. The major evidence supporting said claim is that individuals with more than 4.0 ng per mL (the threshold to test positive) can have false positive rates of 70% (Mulhem 2). The second reason would be the implications of testing positive for prostate cancer, including but not limited to unnecessary treatment of the disease. While the analysis does not back up unnecessary treatment with any statistical evidence, it does go to explain further tests and procedures to confirm and understand the nature of the patient s condition. This bleeds over to the negative physical and psychological side effects of regular prostate cancer screening cited by the analysis. Mulhem explains that after testing positive for prostate cancer, more tests are performed to determine the accuracy of the screening and if so, reveal the specificities of the cancer.
