In Aleg, Mauritania, especially in the rural areas where there is no supply of
treated water for drinking and other domestic uses, natural surface water is the only
source. The objective was to assess the water quality of natural sources of water in
the rural areas of the BRAKNA region (in the south-west of the country) using a water
quality index (WQI) for different seasons. A total of 40 samples, that is, 20 in winter
and 20 in summer were collected from different sources for physicochemical analysis,
and a WQI was calculated. Twenty-seven parameters were evaluated (Rrgaonkar and
V. Deshpande et al. 2007).
Follow-up and physicochemical analyzes made it possible to determine the WQI
index. The results obtained show that raw water from Lake Aleg is classified in the
category "Unsuitable" (undesirable).
The overall quality of the waters is strongly influenced by the alternation of
seasons of the year. Correlation analysis showed a perfect correlation between WQI
and water turbidity (r = 0.999). This made it possible to specify the turbidity as a
factor of deterioration in the quality of the lake water

This study was conducted for irrigation water quality assessment of water resources used in irrigation of agricultural fields in Mezitli town of Mersin province. Sample pH values varied between 7,05-8,26 and EC values varied between 292-1103 µmhos/cm. According to US Salinity Lab Classification System, irrigation waters were classified as C 2 S 1 and C 3 S 1 (moderately and highly saline waters). Boron concentrations of all samples were below the threshold value of 0,67 ppm. Significant differences were not observed in water quality parameters throughout the irrigation season.

Traditional pond technology depends on nature in management, such as filling and disposal of pond water utilizing the time of low and high tides. The study was aimed to determine the fluctuations of N and P elements in traditional pond areas at tides. This research was conducted with purposive sampling method and laboratory analysis for several water parameters. The results showed that pH ranged from 7 to 8 both at low tide and high tide. The average value of nitrate (NO3) from five locations was extended from 0.106 to 1.495 mg/l. The value of silica (Si) ranged from 5,287 to 10,876 mg/l in low tide. Orthophosphate at low tide ranged from 0.027 to 0.090 mg/l, the highest value was in the coast station and the lowest was in the sea station. Whereas the value of nitrate (NO3) and orthophosphate in high tide ranged from 0.830 to 1.495 mg/l and 0.039 to 0.090 mg/l. Nutrients were abundant enough to support the growth and development of primary producers. So, the waters in this region include fertile waters.

The present work aims to study the progressive deterioration of groundwater quality over a period of
eight years, in and around the Vrishabhavathi Valley, an erstwhile fresh water stream, now carrying huge amounts of
industrial, agricultural and domestic effluents from the western part of Bangalore metropolis. Groundwater samples were
collected from both the borewells and open wells along the Vrishabhavathi valley watershed during April 2014 from the
same sampling sites, that were chosen for the study in 2006 by these authors and subjected to a comprehensive
physico-chemical analysis and water quality indices were worked out for the entire study area, both for the 2006 and the
present data. The water quality indices have risen alarmingly and it has been found that nearly 67% of the samples are
non-potable and it is seen that this number has risen sharply from 50 % non-potability in study 1 conducted in 2006. This
clearly shows that there is a massive deterioration of water quality in the study span of 8 years, clearly reflecting the
unabated and huge increase in the concentration of pollutants from municipal, industrial and agricultural sources that
have been making their way to the groundwaters of Vrishabhavathi valley basin. The results imply that the groundwater
of all the affected areas are completely unfit for human consumption and needs elaborate and appropriate treatment for
improving its quality.

Shallow Groundwater of a coastal aquifer has been intensively used as a source of water for
irrigation farming in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. To assess the usability of this water for irrigation use,
twenty locations at buguma city were mapped out and five water wells were sampled for each location using
Simple random sampling technique. Each sample was analyzed for the cations(magnesium(Mg2+), sodium(Na+

)), trace elements(cadmium(Cd), iron(Fe), and zinc(Zn)and
other phsico-chemical parameters(Salinity(SI), electric conductivity(EC) and pH) adopting standard methods.
Based on the analyzed parameters, irrigation water quality parameters (RSC, SAR, %Na and %MR) and
indexes(Kelly index(KI), Permeability Index(PI) and the Canadian water quality index(CWQI)) were calculated
.To assess the usability of the shallow groundwater, results of the Water quality index models and other
calculated irrigation parameters were compared with the standards. On the average, virtually all the sampling
locations except Ombu, Igba and Jackreech were unsuitable for irrigation use.
EVALUATION OF GROUNDWATER QUALITY OF VAIPPAR BASIN, TAMIL NADU, INDIA: A GEOI...SagarChougule11
The Vaippar Basin, one of the important basins of Tamil Nadu is located between 9° 0' 05" & 9° 44' 56" N latitudes and 77° 23' 25" & 78° 17' 02" E longitudes with an area of 5339 sq.km. Groundwater samples were collected from 91 different locations in the Vaippar basin, Tamil Nadu, India. Groundwater quality data for the period of 30 years (1983 to 2013) of both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon periods were used to analyze the groundwater quality aspects of the Vaippar basin. The physico-chemical parameters such as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, HCO3-, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, SO4-, NO3- and Cl have been analyzed to determine the geological and non-geological source of contamination. An overall hydrogeochemical analytical study using Electrical Conductivity, Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Sodium percentage (Na%) and Residual Sodium Carbonate (RSC) values reveals that most of the groundwater samples collected from the study area are suitable for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes.

essentially requires looking for proper management practices for growing economy and population. The water
resources of the Lake basins remain almost constant while demand of water for various purposes is increasing.
Water pollution as a corollary of accelerated industrial growth has drawn concerns over public health and
environment. Water is required for different purposes like domestic, agricultural, hydro-power, navigation,
recreation, etc. Utilization in all these diverse uses of water should be optimized and an awareness of water as a

Flood is the most devastating environmental hazard throughout the world causing loss of precious human lives
and damage to infrastructure. They occur by unusual overflow of water over the banks of rivers or channels
thus inundating the surrounding area. The magnitude and intensity of floods depends on hydrological and
physical characteristics of the catchment and river channel. Adverse effects of these floods can be alleviated
through mapping of floodplain which is essentially the area around the channel which is likely to be flooded.
One of the methods of floodplain delineation is modeling the river flow using computer models such as the
Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS). In this study the application of 2D HEC-RAS
river model is used to develop a floodplain map of river Kabul.
Water Quality Assessment of El-Salam Canal (Egypt) Based on Physico-Chemical ...Premier Publishers
Water quality of El-Salam Canal was assessed using physico-chemical and certain biological characteristics. Downstream increase of total soluble inorganic nitrogen (TSIN) and dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) indicated increasing downstream eutrophication. The significant (P ≤ 0.01) downstream increase of chloride indicated elevated pollution. Water quality index (WQI) down (53) and up-stream (48) stations indicated bad to moderate condition, respectively. The increase of N, P, heavy metals and WQI may be attributed to excessive input of wastewater from El-Serw and Hadous drains. The highest concentrations of Fe (0.138 mg/l), Mn (0.116), Zn (0.057), Cu (0.019), Pb (0.278) and Cd (0.016) were recorded at downstream stations. Accumulation of these metals by hydrophytes followed the order: Fe ˃ Mn ˃ Zn ˃ Cu ˃ Pb ˃ Cd. Fifteen different hydrophytes were recorded with marked decline in species richness during winter and at downstream stations. The epiphytic microalgae were represented by 50 different taxa, belonging to six phylla including Cyanobacteria, Chlorophyta, Charophyta, Bacillariophyta, Euglenophyta and Rhodophyta. Thespecies composition and richness of the epiphytic microalgae was largely influenced by the plant species, as the highest number of species (42 taxa) was recorded for Ceratophyllum demersum and the lowest one (31 taxa) for Phragmites australis.

Survey and analysis of underground water of five villages of tripura, indiaeSAT Journals
Abstract The present study emphasizes on the survey and assessment of groundwater quality, sources of ground water contamination, variation of groundwater quality and which will be further purified with the use of nanomaterials. The bases for groundwater quality assessment are underground water (tube-well) and representative monitoring network enabling determination of chemical status of the underground water (tube-well). For this study, water samples were collected from 5 tube wells representing the area of 5 villages (Golaghati, Takarjala, Jampui, Mandwi, and Simna) of Tripura (India). The water samples were analyzed for physico -chemical parameters like Total Dissolved Solid, Total Hardness, Iron, Chloride, Calcium, Magnesium etc using standard techniques in the laboratory and compared with the standards. The results obtained in this study and the Association rules will be helpful for monitoring and managing presence of heavy metals in underground water in the modern research area in terms of water quality. The parameters: pH, TDS, Total hardness and content of Iron, Chloride, Calcium, Magnesium and BOD were studied and compared with the standard values prescribed by ICMR, WHO, APHA and ISU/BIS. The present investigation revealed that the quality of water of a source slightly varies from area to area tube wells but was found that the underground water samples are fit for drinking and utility purpose. Physicochemical Assessment of Groundwater Quality from Hand Dug Wells and Bor...IJAEMSJORNAL
Water is the second most important basic need of man after oxygen which is the first. The quality of life in villages and cities depends on the regular supply of pure and unpolluted fresh water. The quality of water bodies depends on their physicochemical and microbial characteristics. The hand-dug wells and boreholes are charactacterised as groundwater under this study. Sampling was done on 21 points containing wells and bore holes within part of Mokola-Eleyele in order to assess their physiochemical contents. The sample was collected during September 2018 - February 2019. Laboratory analysis was carried out on them. The physical and chemical contents observed are; pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), Calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), Chloride (Cl-), Sulphate (SO4+), Nitrate (NO3+) and iron content (Fe2+) were analyzed for each water sample collected. The values of physical and chemical contents were compared with the standard values set by the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the results were within their safe limits. The t-test analysis carried out showed the correlation between chemical contents at 90%, 95% and 99% confidence level, the results shows that the significant differences exist for the parameters. It can be concluded that the qualities of both hand dug wells and boreholes water samples were suitable for human consumption.
Integrating fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm for upwelling prediction in Man...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Upwelling is a natural phenomenon related with the increase in water mass that also occurs in Maninjau Lake, West Sumatra. The upwelling phenomenon resulted in considerable losses for freshwater fish farming because make mass mortalities of fish in farming using the method of floating net cages (karamba jaring apung/KJA). It takes a system that can predict the possibility of upwelling as an early warning to the community, especially fish farming to immediately prepare early anticipation of upwelling prevention. With historical water quality monitoring data at six sites in Maninjau Lake for 17 years, a prediction model can be made. There are three input criteria for Tsukamoto FIS that is water temperature, pH, and dissolve oxygen (DO). The model is built with fuzzy logic integration with the genetic algorithm to optimize the membership function boundaries of input and output criteria. After the optimization, hybrid Tsukamoto FIS and genetic algorithm successfully make a correct upwelling prediction on of 16 data with 94% accuracy.

Macta and Tafna Basins are considered as the main water resources feeding the North West of Algeria; however,
protection and conservation of these water resources become the major concern of the researchers. The
evaluation system of the water quality is based on the measure of physic-chemical parameters of the surface
water according to the uses of water for drink, industry or agriculture. In this work we have to proceed to an
application of this system to the surface waters on the three basins. Physic-chemical analyses are used for a
period of three years (2012-2014) and several points chosen on the three catchments are taken into account.
In this paper we shall apply the quality index calculation method for the Water Quality Evaluation system
(WQES) and the follow-up of the impacts of the anthropologic activities on the natural environment The main
results are the validation of the WQES method for different type of pollution as mineral, organic, heavy metals

The Bouhouda’s dam was built on Oued Sra, a tributary on the right bank of Ouergha wadi, about 18 km in the north of Taounate town. The waters of this dam are mainly intended for irrigation and drinking water supply (Ministry of town planning and urban planning, 2014). The aim of this paper is to study the quality and the spatio-temporal evolution of the physicochemical of this dam waters parameters of over a period of eight years (2000/2008) in order to have a better knowledge of the mechanisms and the factors that condition the eutrophication of this lake. A classification has been established based on the Carlson index (1977) (Trophic State Index or TSI) and the Vollenweider index (1968), to identify the trophic state of the reservoir waters. Accordingly, these results can be used for decision support in the context of sustainable development of several nearby dams in the Sbou Basin.

Groundwater quality data for the period of 30 years (1983 to 2013) of both pre-monsoon and post-monsoon periods were used to analyze the groundwater quality aspects of the Vaippar basin. The physico-chemical parameters such as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, HCO3-, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, SO4-, NO3- and Cl have been analyzed to determine the geological and non-geological source of contamination. An overall hydrogeochemical analytical study using Electrical Conductivity, Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), Sodium percentage (Na%) and Residual Sodium Carbonate (RSC) values reveals that most of the groundwater samples collected from the study area are suitable for drinking, irrigation, and industrial purposes.

Flood is the most devastating environmental hazard throughout the world causing loss of precious human lives
and damage to infrastructure. They occur by unusual overflow of water over the banks of rivers or channels
thus inundating the surrounding area. The magnitude and intensity of floods depends on hydrological and
physical characteristics of the catchment and river channel. Adverse effects of these floods can be alleviated
through mapping of floodplain which is essentially the area around the channel which is likely to be flooded.
One of the methods of floodplain delineation is modeling the river flow using computer models such as the
Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS). In this study the application of 2D HEC-RAS
river model is used to develop a floodplain map of river Kabul.
Water Quality Assessment of El-Salam Canal (Egypt) Based on Physico-Chemical ...Premier Publishers
Water quality of El-Salam Canal was assessed using physico-chemical and certain biological characteristics. Downstream increase of total soluble inorganic nitrogen (TSIN) and dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) indicated increasing downstream eutrophication. The significant (P ≤ 0.01) downstream increase of chloride indicated elevated pollution. Water quality index (WQI) down (53) and up-stream (48) stations indicated bad to moderate condition, respectively. The increase of N, P, heavy metals and WQI may be attributed to excessive input of wastewater from El-Serw and Hadous drains. The highest concentrations of Fe (0.138 mg/l), Mn (0.116), Zn (0.057), Cu (0.019), Pb (0.278) and Cd (0.016) were recorded at downstream stations. Accumulation of these metals by hydrophytes followed the order: Fe ˃ Mn ˃ Zn ˃ Cu ˃ Pb ˃ Cd. Fifteen different hydrophytes were recorded with marked decline in species richness during winter and at downstream stations. The epiphytic microalgae were represented by 50 different taxa, belonging to six phylla including Cyanobacteria, Chlorophyta, Charophyta, Bacillariophyta, Euglenophyta and Rhodophyta. Thespecies composition and richness of the epiphytic microalgae was largely influenced by the plant species, as the highest number of species (42 taxa) was recorded for Ceratophyllum demersum and the lowest one (31 taxa) for Phragmites australis.

Abstract The present study emphasizes on the survey and assessment of groundwater quality, sources of ground water contamination, variation of groundwater quality and which will be further purified with the use of nanomaterials. The bases for groundwater quality assessment are underground water (tube-well) and representative monitoring network enabling determination of chemical status of the underground water (tube-well). For this study, water samples were collected from 5 tube wells representing the area of 5 villages (Golaghati, Takarjala, Jampui, Mandwi, and Simna) of Tripura (India). The water samples were analyzed for physico -chemical parameters like Total Dissolved Solid, Total Hardness, Iron, Chloride, Calcium, Magnesium etc using standard techniques in the laboratory and compared with the standards. The results obtained in this study and the Association rules will be helpful for monitoring and managing presence of heavy metals in underground water in the modern research area in terms of water quality. The parameters: pH, TDS, Total hardness and content of Iron, Chloride, Calcium, Magnesium and BOD were studied and compared with the standard values prescribed by ICMR, WHO, APHA and ISU/BIS. The present investigation revealed that the quality of water of a source slightly varies from area to area tube wells but was found that the underground water samples are fit for drinking and utility purpose. Physicochemical Assessment of Groundwater Quality from Hand Dug Wells and Bor...IJAEMSJORNAL
Water is the second most important basic need of man after oxygen which is the first. The quality of life in villages and cities depends on the regular supply of pure and unpolluted fresh water. The quality of water bodies depends on their physicochemical and microbial characteristics. The hand-dug wells and boreholes are charactacterised as groundwater under this study. Sampling was done on 21 points containing wells and bore holes within part of Mokola-Eleyele in order to assess their physiochemical contents. The sample was collected during September 2018 - February 2019. Laboratory analysis was carried out on them. The physical and chemical contents observed are; pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), Calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), Chloride (Cl-), Sulphate (SO4+), Nitrate (NO3+) and iron content (Fe2+) were analyzed for each water sample collected. The values of physical and chemical contents were compared with the standard values set by the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and the results were within their safe limits. The t-test analysis carried out showed the correlation between chemical contents at 90%, 95% and 99% confidence level, the results shows that the significant differences exist for the parameters. It can be concluded that the qualities of both hand dug wells and boreholes water samples were suitable for human consumption.

Upwelling is a natural phenomenon related with the increase in water mass that also occurs in Maninjau Lake, West Sumatra. The upwelling phenomenon resulted in considerable losses for freshwater fish farming because make mass mortalities of fish in farming using the method of floating net cages (karamba jaring apung/KJA). It takes a system that can predict the possibility of upwelling as an early warning to the community, especially fish farming to immediately prepare early anticipation of upwelling prevention. With historical water quality monitoring data at six sites in Maninjau Lake for 17 years, a prediction model can be made. There are three input criteria for Tsukamoto FIS that is water temperature, pH, and dissolve oxygen (DO). The model is built with fuzzy logic integration with the genetic algorithm to optimize the membership function boundaries of input and output criteria. After the optimization, hybrid Tsukamoto FIS and genetic algorithm successfully make a correct upwelling prediction on of 16 data with 94% accuracy.

Macta and Tafna Basins are considered as the main water resources feeding the North West of Algeria; however,
protection and conservation of these water resources become the major concern of the researchers. The
evaluation system of the water quality is based on the measure of physic-chemical parameters of the surface
water according to the uses of water for drink, industry or agriculture. In this work we have to proceed to an
application of this system to the surface waters on the three basins. Physic-chemical analyses are used for a
period of three years (2012-2014) and several points chosen on the three catchments are taken into account.

The qualitative evaluation and hydrogeochemical attributes of groundwater in Owerri Capital
Territory Owerri was investigated to assess the quality for human consumption and agricultural purposes. A
total of sixteen (16) groundwater samples were collected and analyzed for physicochemical and biological
properties. The range of temperature (oC), colour (Hz), and turbidity of groundwater in the study area are
between: 20-28.3, 5-15, and 1-50 respectively. The average of pH , conductivity (us/cm),TDS (mg/l), and
hardness (mg/l) are: 7.66, 0.135, 34.64, and 7.94 respectively. The result also reveals that the concentration of

that is largely soft and therefore, mostly of acceptable quality for
household uses. Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR) of the groundwater samples in the study area showed that the
samples fall below 1.4meq/l, indicating predominance of excellent water for irrigation purposes in accordance
with recommended standard. This study recommends among other things that groundwater resources
development in the area requires elaborate qualitative assessment, to ensure that any necessary pre-use
treatment is effected.

Water availability and quality are important factors that determine not only where people can live, but also the quality of life. The Mukungwa river is affected by rainy season especially at Ngaru point before discharge in Nyabarongo river, where its physico-chemical properties are seasonally changed. This may cause serious problems on all forms of life in the river. Objective of this work was to assess the impacts of rainy season on physico-chemical properties of Mukugwa River before discharging into Nyabarongo River at Ngaru. The parameters such as pH, temperature, turbidity, electric conductivity, total dissolved solids (TSS), phosphates, nitrates, and ammonium were monitored in three rainy seasons: April, 2012; October, 2012 and May, 2017 respectively. In this research, pH, temperature, electric conductivity were analyzed in situ using multifunction pH-meter and others parameters, were analyzed in laboratory using electrometric, volumetric, turbidity tube and colorimetric methods. The measured values for each parameter in three seasons were analyzed using MS Excel, and then compared to their international standards for surface water delivered by World Health Organization (WHO). The findings showed high variation of TSS (134mg/l, 178mg/l, and 582mg/l), turbidity (322NTU, 317NTU and 1560NTU) and ammonium (0.498mg/L, 0.536mg/L and 0.78mg/L) in three rainy seasons assessed. The quality of Mukungwa River needs prevention measures in order to control its pollution by erosion.
Al-Hilla River has a great importance to the people in the vicinity which serves as
a main drinking and irrigation source. The aim of the current study is to estimate the
Water Quality Index (WQI) of Al-Hilla River, southern Baghdad using the weighted
arithmetic water quality index method. Water samples were collected from 7 stations
in March in which eight water quality parameters were analyzed: Turbidity, total
dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen, concentration of hydrogen ion, electrical
conductivity, chlorides, alkalinity and biological oxygen demand. The calculated WQI
of Al-Hilla River indicates that the river water is unsuitable for drinking which is
majorly attributed to the total dissolved solids and turbidity. This interprets the
condition of the river which can help the local authority in taking action by identifying
the sources of pollution and improving the water quality and stakeholders should be
involved in the decision making and mitigation alternatives.

Physico-chemical parameters of River Oluwa water in Agbabu, Nigeria were investigated to determine its quality characteristics and establish seasonal effects on the water. Water from the river was collected at five different points in dry season (March, 2008 and 2009) and rainy season (July, 2008 and 2009). Insitu parameters (pH, EC and Turbidity) were measured using Horiba Water Checker Model U-10 while TDS was by Lovibond CM – 21 Tintometer. Subsequently in the Laboratory, Na+ and K+ were determined using flame photometric methods while Ca2+, Mg2+, HCO3-, SO42-, Cl-, PO42- and NO3- were determined by wet analysis. River Oluwa water was alkaline with average pH of 7.41 and 7.53 in dry and rainy seasons respectively. Electrical conductivity (EC) was high during dry season (av. 630.44 µS/cm), but low in the rainy season (av. 317.58 µS/cm) due to long residence time in dry season allowing more water-rock interaction. Turbidity’s average values of 0.14 NTU and 2.29 NTU in dry and rainy seasons respectively suggested moderate pollution with particulate matter. The order of average cations concentrations in the dry and rainy seasons was Ca2+ > K+ > Na+ > Mg2+ while that of the anions was HCO3- > Cl- >SO42- > NO3-. The ions concentrations though lower in rainy season, Ca2+-HCO3- water was dominant in both seasons. Quality evaluation for irrigation revealed that the water was suitable for all irrigation purposes. River Oluwa water was soft, low mineralized, chemically potable, suitable for irrigation but with lower ionic concentrations in rainy season.
Ecological and Agricultural monitoring of Sebou river waters at Kariat Bamoha...Agriculture Journal IJOEAR
— Kariat Bamohamed is an agricultural region located to the west of the city of Taounate and north of the city of Fez. The surface waters in the region are mainly composed by the Sebou river and many natural springs. The study concerns the analysis of hydrochemical parameters (T°, pH, CE, MES, O 2 , BOD 5 , COD, Cl-, PO 4 3 , NH 4 + and NO 3-) along the middle Sebou river region of Kariat Bamohamed in order to establish a diagnosis of the state of pollution of the surface waters of this part of the river. Wa ter sampling was carried out at four study stations during flood period and during low water period. In the light of the results obtained on the surface waters of the Sebou river, it is concluded to a degradation of water quality in both the winter and summer periods. In particular, an increase in the values of ammonium, COD and BOD 5 in addition to an acidic pH due to margine discharges and leaching of fertilizers and other discharges of wastewaters from the cities of Fez and Kariat Bamohamed.

semiarid climate. Physicochemical parameters viz., pH, total hardness, calcium, chloride, total dissolved solids,
fluoride were analyzed. Most of parameter show higher value than permissible limit in pre and post monsoon.
Further, a moderation in water quality was observed after the monsoon season, which can be attributed to a
possible dilution due to groundwater recharge People dependent on this water may prone to health hazard.

White layer thickness (WLT) formed and surface roughness in wire electric discharge turning (WEDT) of tungsten carbide composite has been made to model through response surface methodology (RSM). A Taguchi’s standard Design of experiments involving five input variables with three levels has been employed to establish a mathematical model between input parameters and responses. Percentage of cobalt content, spindle speed, Pulse on-time, wire feed and pulse off-time were changed during the experimental tests based on the Taguchi’s orthogonal array L27 (3^13). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that the mathematical models obtained can adequately describe performance within the parameters of the factors considered. There was a good agreement between the experimental and predicted values in this study.

VOICE BASED ATM FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED USING ARDUINOIAEME Publication
The prototype of a voice-based ATM for visually impaired using Arduino is to help people who are blind. This uses RFID cards which contain users fingerprint encrypted on it and interacts with the users through voice commands. ATM operates when sensor detects the presence of one person in the cabin. After scanning the RFID card, it will ask to select the mode like –normal or blind. User can select the respective mode through voice input, if blind mode is selected the balance check or cash withdraw can be done through voice input. Normal mode procedure is same as the existing ATM.

The growing complexity of the business world requires a great deal of self-confidence, integrity, communication, conflict and diversity management to keep the global enterprise within the paths of productivity and sustainability. Using the exploratory research design and 255 participants the result of this original study indicates strong positive correlation between emotional intelligence and effective human resource management. The paper offers suggestions on further studies between emotional intelligence and human capital development and recommends for conflict management as an integral part of effective human resource management.

The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of aspects of Organizational Culture on the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Health Care Organization at Thanjavur. Organizational Culture and PMS play a crucial role in present-day organizations in achieving their objectives. PMS needs employees’ cooperation to achieve its intended objectives. Employees' cooperation depends upon the organization’s culture. The present study uses exploratory research to examine the relationship between the Organization's culture and the Effectiveness of the Performance Management System. The study uses a Structured Questionnaire to collect the primary data. For this study, Thirty-six non-clinical employees were selected from twelve randomly selected Health Care organizations at Thanjavur. Thirty-two fully completed questionnaires were received.

The goal of this study was to see how talent management affected employee retention in the selected IT organizations in Chennai. The fundamental issue was the difficulty to attract, hire, and retain talented personnel who perform well and the gap between supply and demand of talent acquisition and retaining them within the firms. The study's main goals were to determine the impact of talent management on employee retention in IT companies in Chennai, investigate talent management strategies that IT companies could use to improve talent acquisition, performance management, career planning and formulate retention strategies that the IT firms could use. The respondents were given a structured close-ended questionnaire with the 5 Point Likert Scale as part of the study's quantitative research design. The target population consisted of 289 IT professionals. The questionnaires were distributed and collected by the researcher directly. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to collect and analyse the questionnaire responses. Hypotheses that were formulated for the various areas of the study were tested using a variety of statistical tests. The key findings of the study suggested that talent management had an impact on employee retention. The studies also found that there is a clear link between the implementation of talent management and retention measures. Management should provide enough training and development for employees, clarify job responsibilities, provide adequate remuneration packages, and recognise employees for exceptional performance.

It is costly to replace unskilled employees with IT professionals possessing technical skills and competencies that aid in interconnecting the business processes. The organization’s employment tactics were forced to alter by globalization along with technological innovations as they consistently diminish to remain lean, outsource to concentrate on core competencies along with restructuring/reallocate personnel to gather efficiency. As other jobs, organizations or professions have become reasonably more appropriate in a shifting employment landscape, the above alterations trigger both involuntary as well as voluntary turnover. The employee view on jobs is also afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic along with the employee-driven labour market. So, having effective strategies is necessary to tackle the withdrawal rate of employees. By associating Emotional Intelligence (EI) along with Talent Management (TM) in the IT industry, the rise in attrition rate was analyzed in this study. Only 303 respondents were collected out of 350 participants to whom questionnaires were distributed. From the employees of IT organizations located in Bangalore (India), the data were congregated. A simple random sampling methodology was employed to congregate data as of the respondents. Generating the hypothesis along with testing is eventuated. The effect of EI and TM along with regression analysis between TM and EI was analyzed. The outcomes indicated that employee and Organizational Performance (OP) were elevated by effective EI along with TM.

Investments institutions, specialized financial institution and the state level development banks, non banking financial companies (NBFC) and other market intermediaries such has the stock brokers and money lenders are among the oldest of the certain variants of NBFC and the oldest market participants. The asset quality of banks is one of the most important indicators of their financial health. The Indian banking sector has been facing severe problems of increasing Non- Performing Assets (NPAs). The NPAs growth directly and indirectly affects the quality of assets and profitability of banks. It also shows the efficiency of banks credit risk management and the recovery effectiveness. NPA do not generate any income, whereas, the bank is required to make provisions for such as assets that why is a double edge weapon. This paper outlines the concept of quality of bank loans of different types like Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of selected public and private sector banks. This study is highlighting problems associated with the role of commercial bank in financing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME). The overall objective of the research was to assess the effect of the financing provisions existing for the setting up and operations of MSMEs in the country and to generate recommendations for more robust financing mechanisms for successful operation of the MSMEs, in turn understanding the impact of MSME loans on financial institutions due to NPA. There are many research conducted on the topic of Non- Performing Assets (NPA) Management, concerning particular bank, comparative study of public and private banks etc. In this paper the researcher is considering the aggregate data of selected public sector and private sector banks and attempts to compare the NPA of Housing, Agriculture and MSME loans in state Haryana of public and private sector banks. The tools used in the study are average and Anova test and variance. The findings reveal that NPA is common problem for both public and private sector banks and is associated with all types of loans either that is housing loans, agriculture loans and loans to SMES. NPAs of both public and private sector banks show the increasing trend. In 2010-11 GNPA of public and private sector were at same level it was 2% but after 2010-11 it increased in many fold and at present there is GNPA in some more than 15%. It shows the dark area of Indian banking sector.

An experiment conducted in this study found that BaSO4 changed Nylon 6's mechanical properties. By changing the weight ratios, BaSO4 was used to make Nylon 6. This Researcher looked into how hard Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites are and how well they wear. Experiments were done based on Taguchi design L9. Nylon-6/BaSO4 composites can be tested for their hardness number using a Rockwell hardness testing apparatus. On Nylon/BaSO4, the wear behavior was measured by a wear monitor, pinon-disc friction by varying reinforcement, sliding speed, and sliding distance, and the microstructure of the crack surfaces was observed by SEM. This study provides significant contributions to ultimate strength by increasing BaSO4 content up to 16% in the composites, and sliding speed contributes 72.45% to the wear rate

Rural entrepreneurship brings an economic value to the rural sector by creating new methods of production, new markets, new products and generate employment opportunities thereby ensuring continuous rural development. Social Entrepreneurship has the direct and primary objective of serving the society along with the earning profits. So, social entrepreneurship is different from the economic entrepreneurship as its basic objective is not to earn profits but for providing innovative solutions to meet the society needs which are not taken care by majority of the entrepreneurs as they are in the business for profit making as a sole objective. So, the Social Entrepreneurs have the huge growth potential particularly in the developing countries like India where we have huge societal disparities in terms of the financial positions of the population. Still 22 percent of the Indian population is below the poverty line and also there is disparity among the rural & urban population in terms of families living under BPL. 25.7 percent of the rural population & 13.7 percent of the urban population is under BPL which clearly shows the disparity of the poor people in the rural and urban areas. The need to develop social entrepreneurship in agriculture is dictated by a large number of social problems. Such problems include low living standards, unemployment, and social tension. The reasons that led to the emergence of the practice of social entrepreneurship are the above factors. The research problem lays upon disclosing the importance of role of social entrepreneurship in rural development of India. The paper the tendencies of social entrepreneurship in India, to present successful examples of such business for providing recommendations how to improve situation in rural areas in terms of social entrepreneurship development. Indian government has made some steps towards development of social enterprises, social entrepreneurship, and social in- novation, but a lot remains to be improved.
OPTIMAL RECONFIGURATION OF POWER DISTRIBUTION RADIAL NETWORK USING HYBRID MET...IAEME Publication
Distribution system is a critical link between the electric power distributor and the consumers. Most of the distribution networks commonly used by the electric utility is the radial distribution network. However in this type of network, it has technical issues such as enormous power losses which affect the quality of the supply. Nowadays, the introduction of Distributed Generation (DG) units in the system help improve and support the voltage profile of the network as well as the performance of the system components through power loss mitigation. In this study network reconfiguration was done using two meta-heuristic algorithms Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSO-GSA) to enhance power quality and voltage profile in the system when simultaneously applied with the DG units. Backward/Forward Sweep Method was used in the load flow analysis and simulated using the MATLAB program. Five cases were considered in the Reconfiguration based on the contribution of DG units. The proposed method was tested using IEEE 33 bus system. Based on the results, there was a voltage profile improvement in the system from 0.9038 p.u. to 0.9594 p.u.. The integration of DG in the network also reduced power losses from 210.98 kW to 69.3963 kW. Simulated results are drawn to show the performance of each case.

In this paper, we investigated a queuing model of fuzzy environment-based a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) and study its performance under realistic conditions. It applies a nonagonal fuzzy number to analyse the relevant performance of a multiple channel queuing model (M/M/C) ( /FCFS). Based on the sub interval average ranking method for nonagonal fuzzy number, we convert fuzzy number to crisp one. Numerical results reveal that the efficiency of this method. Intuitively, the fuzzy environment adapts well to a multiple channel queuing models (M/M/C) ( /FCFS) are very well.

Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be

Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.

1. INTRODUCTION
Water resources play an important role in the development of different sectors in different
countries. Indeed, surface water can be used for various needs: drinking water supply,
irrigation, etc. (E. OuldMohamedou et al. 2009). In Mauritania, Lake Aleg occupies an
important place in fresh surface water sources. However, the filling dynamics of Lake Aleg
depend directly on the intermittent flows of the KETCHI valley, which represents the largest
endorheic stream in the BRAKNA region, these flows occur only during the rainy season.
from July to October. The water ends in the lake, which is a shallow depression (Yi Li† and
Xianze Liu 2018). This source plays a key role in the water supply in several localities in the
BRAKNA region (in the south-west of the country) (Al-Nakshaband et al. 2007). It is an area
characterized by an arid and dry climate. For many years, this lake has been exposed to
constraints that threaten the physicochemical quality of its waters (Lado, M. and Ben-Hur, M.
2009).
The objective of this work is the Determination of the overall water quality index for the
assessment of the raw water quality of the lake for the spatiotemporal variation of the water
quality of Lake Aleg. Indeed, several samplings were organized during the year 2017.
The water quality index will be applied to assess the overall quality of the water. In
addition, a statistical analysis is used to investigate the origin of evolution and change and the
overall quality of water (Katarzyna Glińska-Lewczu, 2016).
2. MATERIALS AND METHODS
2.1. STUDY AREA
Lake Aleg is located in the Brakna region of southwest Mauritania (Fig1). This zone is
characterized by a hot Saharan-Sahelian climate with a dry season that lasts 8 months (from
November to June) (Fatimetou Salma et al 2017). The wintering or rainy season that follows
is generally four months, with a peak of rainfall in August (250-400 mm of rainfall /year)
(Kankou M.O.S.O. 2004).

2.2. Water sampling and analytical procedures
This work focuses on the evaluation of 27 parameters. Sampling and analysis took place
according to the methods described by Rodier (Z. NOUACEUR 2009). Table1 summarizes
the sampling sites and their GPS (Garmin 78) coordinates. Fig2 shows the study area and
location of sampling sites along the perimeter of Lake Aleg. Samples took place in different
seasons of the year. Samples were collected using 1 liter bottles.

The water temperature and pH were measured using a HANNA pH meter (HI 8314).
Electrical conductivity was determined using a HANNA type conductivity meter (HI 8733).
Turbidity was measured using a HANNA turbidimeter (HI 2100). Nitrates, nitrites,
ammonium, sulphates, iron, copper and aluminum are determined by a UV-Visible
Spectrophotometer (WEG 7100). The alkali metals (Na+
K +
) are determined by flame
photometer. Alkalinity (TA, TAC), total hardness (TH), calcium (Ca2+
), magnesium (Mg2+
),
chloride (Cl-
), oxidability, Bicarbonates (HCO3-) are determined by the volumetric method
(Andreu et al.).
2.3. Water Quality Index (WQI)
The method proposed by Tiwari and Mishra (Katarzyna Glińska-Lewczu, 2016) has been
applied for the assessment of the Water Quality Index (WQI). The standards (Si) are those
recommended by WHO (World Health Organization). The table summarizes the relative
weights (Wi) calculated by the equation.

According to the water quality index (WQI) values, the water quality is classified

2.4. General characterization
The results obtained are summarized in Table 3. In fact, the pH records average values of
7.42 and 7.46. The temperature of the water changes according to the climatic conditions of
the sampling site. The electrical conductivity shows average values of 452.2 μs / cm in the
dry season and 169.58 μs / cm in the rainy season. The effect of dilutions is noted on the
values obtained.

The turbidity evolves according to seasonal variations; the maximum values are in the
order of 912 NTU. Bicarbonates have a maximum level of 341.6 mg / l during the dry season.
The hardness shows an acceptable level in the study period, the TH varies between 7.5 and
5.7 ° F. Alkalinity shows a maximum value during the dry season. The chloride, Sulphate,
sodium and potassium contents indicate acceptable values.
There are also low levels for nitrogen elements, nitrates, nitrites and ammonium
respectively record maximum values of 15, 1.6 and 0.4 mg / l. The oxidability registers

maximum values during the rainy season 22.4 mg / l of O2. Metal trace elements remain
below the limits required by WHO (Josué Esdras et al 2017).
2.5. Evaluation of the spatiotemporal variability of the WQI index
The application of equations (1) to the analytical data allowed the determination of
spatiotemporal trends of the water quality index (WQI) (Fig; 3)

3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The results obtained show that for the dry season, the values of WQI are between 668-3541,
while for the rainy season, the values oscillate between 1584 -4272. In fact, it is noted that the
Alg10 site records maximum values during the rainy season. However, the Alg 6 site presents
the maximum values during the dry season. It can be noted that, in general, the values
obtained for the WQI are very high. This can be interpreted in the context of the study of
turbidity evolution. The two minimum values are obtained in sites Alg 6 (rainy season) and
Alg 7 (dry season). The values obtained for the WQI are very high (greater than 100). The
water quality of Lake Aleg is classified in the category Unsuitable (Table 4). The calculation
of the WQI index shows a significant change in overall water quality during the rainy season.

3.1. Statistical analysis
A statistical evaluation was carried out for the interpretation of the results obtained, and in
order to highlight the correlations between the different parameters. The tests are carried out
by the Origin 8.5 and SPSS 20 software.
3.2. Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
ACP is a widely used technique for interpreting the different parameters influencing the
quality of water resources. Based on the eigenvalue graph (fig 4), it is possible to extract the
first five components that represent 93.74% of the total variance (Table 5). The three-
dimensional projection of the first three components representing 81.5%

Component 1 includes electrical conductivity, bicarbonates, calcium, magnesium,
hardness, chlorides and nitrites (Table 6). PH, temperature, sulphates and nitrates are
correlated with component 2. However, turbidity and oxidizable matter are included in
component 3.

3.3. Correlation Analysis
Table 7 summarizes the parameters that were considered. The Pearson correlation
coefficients show the consistency of the results obtained. The table shows good positive
correlations between WQI and turbidity (0.999). PH shows a negative correlation with sulfate
(-0.868). However, the temperature is negatively correlated with bicarbonates (-0.542) and
sulphates (-0.527). Electrical conductivity shows significant correlations with bicarbonates
(0.809), calcium (0.699), magnesium (0.852), chlorides (0.915) and nitrites (-0.566). Nitrates
and nitrites are negatively correlated (-0.604). These correlation analyzes, the WQI is
controlled by fluctuations in turbidity values ( Tahera Akter1 et al 2016).

4. CONCLUSIONS
Here, we report that water of Lake Aleg in Mauritania was mainly alkaline with pH values
within acceptable limits. According to WHO standards, the results obtained as part of this
work made it possible to highlight the seasonal variation of the WQI index. The values
obtained are between 668 and 3541 for the dry season. However, these values vary from 1584
to 4272 the rainy season.
These results make it possible to classify water in the category (Unsuitable). The ACP
shows that it is possible to extract the first five components, which represent 93.74% of the
total variance. The three-dimensional projection of the first three components represents
81.5% of the total variance. Correlation analysis showed a perfect correlation between WQI
and water turbidity.
It is recommended that more surveys be conducted covering more areas, to develop water
treatment and purification plants in specific locations, and to propagate public health
education. The results of this study are expected to be a helpful tool for the public and for
water quality management.
