A Brief Survey of the Phenomenology of Husserl and Heidegger
Introduction
In general terms, phenomenology is a philosophy of experience. It attempts to
understand how meaning is made in human experience, and it sees our lived
experience of the world as the foundation of meaning. For phenomenology, how the
speaking or writing subject uses language is primary both because it is how we
experience its rules and conventions, in their use, and because this is the source of
semantic innovation. New meaning, novelty in the world, and the possibility of a
future different from the past are some of phenomenology s defining values. In this
paper I will be sketching a brief survey of the phenomenology of Husserl and
Heidegger.

Evidence is the source of law or test of all human knowledge. The validity of
experience as meaningful knowledge rests on the fact of evidence. Whenever
philosophical findings are presented as meaningful knowledge, they must be the
expression of compelling obviousness.
Evidence implies that an entity presents itself to the knowing cognition of man in
such a way that it can be looked at in a direct and immediate manner and be regarded
as meaningful. Evidence originates when a given, in its disclosure, is experienced as
sense by the human soul, by means of an immediate intuition or observation. The
correlation between intuition and the given in its disclosure, constitutes the
experience called evidence, and is therefore a composite factor of evidence (Theron,
1995).
2. The Concept of Phenomenon
Husserl calls the given in its immediate disclosure the phenomenon . Derived from
the Greek verb phainomaf , it means to show visibility or to become visible.
Phenomenon therefore suggests that which is disclosed, is shown, which is evident.
The term Phenomenology was derived from this concept. Philosophy must broach the
given or variable in its reality by means of Phenomenology.
Husserl s call to go back to the phenomenon has dual significance:
i. First of all, the common methodological demand is put to philosophy the demand of
the greatest possible impartiality in approaching the

Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their
life. Most people try to pick the career with the best financial gain and something
they would like to do for the rest of their life. Foremost it is wise to see what the
job entails. Sport Management is perfect for those who enjoy helping and working
with people, especially when dealing with sports. The next part of the decision
making process is looking through the various schooling and training required.

No matter what career is selected, they all play an important role in managing a
team. It is not necessary to be in a set position either as change is very common in
this industry. The career of a sport managementprofessional offers a large number
of various positions. One such career is that of a director who specializes in
promotion and development. Promotion and development directors are hired by
sports teams and school athletic programs to design and implement promotional
campaigns that will increase ticket sales (Sports Management 1). The biggest part
of their job is to provide a profit for the organization they are working for. Directors
set up opportunities for the sports team to make money off of sponsors. They also
set up deals with advertisers to pay a sum of money in exchange for their ads or
products to be listed or shown at their sporting event (Sports Management 1). Good
advertising and production of cash flow go hand in hand while promotion directors
try to help them to succeed. Development and promotion directors play an important
role in developing a profit for their organizations. Another important aspect of sports
is the media and news part of it. Cooperation and legal rights can be greatly disputed

O The Fifteenth Letter Of The Alphabet Analysis
O, it is the only letter in the alphabet that looks the same no matter which way it s
viewed. It s all about perspective. To a poor man the middle class is riches, but
compare the middle class to the wealthy and they consider themselves poor. Life is
a matter of perspective. Deriving from the Phoenician and ancient Semitic
alphabet... for the word eye , O the fifteenth letter of the English alphabet is the eye
through which we see the world. Like O, life is a cycle without an omega. We live
and we die, but life never ends. Many religions believe that there is a soul that
moves on to another place, e.g. heaven or hell, after death. Others believe that after
death you are reborn as another being. The death of one thing can mean the life of
another. This phenomenon can be observed when looking at a food chain; at the
very bottom is grass, which is consumed by insects, insects are consumed by rats,
rats are then consumed by snakes, which is eaten by hawks, and when the hawk
dies it nourishes the soil allowing for the grass to grow, and the cycle continues.
Newton s Conservation of Matter states that matter can t be created or destroyed ,
therefore the atoms that compose our bodies were made from other matter before.

African American women face throughout their life. The movie reveals seven women

abandonment, rape, and abortions; at the end of the film all seven women come
together evoking the power of women hood amongst black African Americanfemales.

How I Changed My Life Forever
The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from
Hong Kong to Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau
Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer
but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving familymembers
in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and
friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet
on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in
Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in
the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to
settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in
Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This
immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of
opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we
immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older
brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. We
lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong. On
November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called
long distance from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position
in his restaurant, the Golden
Deception and Cruelty in Shakespeare s Play, Hamlet
Deception and cruelty towards the main character is a reoccurring theme in a
Shakespearean play. In William Shakespeare s play Hamlet, Claudius cruelty and
deceptive, diabolical nature is the leading cause of the carnage at the play s end. He
compares his deceptive nature to how a harlot uses makeup to look more beautiful
and his attempt to deceive Rosencrantz and Guildenstern about Hamlets voyage lead
to the unfortunate demise of many characters. Claudius also tries to deport Hamlet
to England to have him murdered and he has killed his brother to become king.
Claudius deceptive nature is shown in the play when King Claudius deceives
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern into taking Hamlet to England. After every other
character has left the stage, King Claudius tells the audience Our sovereign
process, which imports at full, By letters congruing to that effect, The present death
of Hamlet. (4.iv.72 74) King Claudius deceives Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
about Hamlet s trip to England, telling them the reason why Hamlet must leave is
for public safety. In reality King Claudius plans for Hamlet s to be killed when he
reaches England. Another example of Claudius deceptive nature is when he
compares his lies to a harlot s makeup. O, tis too true! How smart a lash that speech
doth give my conscience! The harlot s cheek, beautied with plastering art, Is not more
ugly to the thing that helps it Than is my deed to my most painted word: O heavy

Examples Of Social Stratification In Egypt
Social stratification is the grouping of people according to their socioeconomic
based on occupation, income, wealth as well as social status. Typically, social
stratification is manifested into three social classes, which include; upper class,
middle class as well as lower class. Egypt is highly stratified since the phenomenon
is widely spread aiming to expose the components of life, which composes these
social classes hence exploring the relationship between these classes. Therefore, this
essay evaluates how social stratificationin Egypt is more open to the people given
that there is unequal distribution of resources in Egypt. In most cases, sociologists

Essentially, when women contribute towards their society particularly on gainful

of Egypt through domestic work hence promoting open system of stratification in
Egypt. Through the achievement of personal characteristics which has opened up
higher status among individuals. Some of the characteristic influence individual
mobility such as race, gender, occupation, background as well as place of
residence. For instance, people living in urban areas have a greater chance of
upward mobility as compared to people living in rural areas. Therefore, open system
of stratification in Egypt in most cases acts as the force pushing a person up the
status ladder.
Social mobility as a form of open stratification takes several forms involving vertical
mobility and horizontal mobility. In addition, mobility can be grouped in terms of
intergenerational as well as intergenerational. This system of stratification helps to

the rich countries. Exploitation is the legacy of
Many Species of the Mammoth
There were many different species of the Mammoth. Examples include
Mammuthus meridonalis (Southern Mammoth), Mammuthus primigenius (Woolly
Mammoth), etc. (Brooks, 2008). Mammoths are best described as bigger, modern
day elephants covered in a thick coat of fur and are symbolic of the ice age. This is
due to their large size, their vast population of the North and South Pole, and their
ability to adapt to extremely cold temperatures (Douglas, 2013). Some ways these
mammals managed to survive in their environments were that their coats consisted
of long, dark guard hairs and fine under wool allowing them to stay warm; the thick
insulating layer of fat that was found underneath their coats and that their cheek
teeth were large and made up of compressed enamel plates that were great for
grinding up the tough dry grasses that they fed on. It is estimated that the earliest an
elephant like animal lived was 58 million years ago. Mammoths first lived in Europe
and Asia about 2.5 million years ago and entered North America about 1.7 to 1.2
million years ago (Brooks, 2008). The last living Mammothis approximated to be as
recent as 3700 years ago. However, due to the rapidly changing environment and the
increased humanpredation of these species, there was a significant drop off in the
population of Mammoths 11,000 years ago (Douglas, 2013). Research on some of
the social aspects of Mammoths showed that they often travelled in herds, where the
adult Mammoths were very protective of

Or maybe the brands of clothing that indicate social status? Human beings as a
society judge and categorize others, labeling those who stray from social norm as
weird or strange. Who are we to make these judgments and where did these ideas of
right and wrong come from? The Walt DisneyCompany plays an important role in
depicting who and what people should and shouldn t be. Every aspect of Disney,
including movies, TV shows, and products, are supported by most of the world for

Mickey Mouse Monopoly appeals to pathos when they discuss Disney s influence

showing how sociological ideas presented in Disney films effect the cultural
development of children. This is really directed at parents and people who want to
be parents as it makes them think about all the issues Mickey Mouse Monopoly is
bringing to light. Justin Lewis, a university professor, points out that Disney is so
large and spread out globally, that its stories will be the stories that will form and
help form a child s imaginary world, all over the world, and that s an incredible
amount of power, enormous amount of power (Mickey Mouse Monopoly). He
continues to say that we should question what Disney is teaching and what children
are learning from their films. He uses rhetorical question to strengthen his point,
asking if these [are] the stories we really want our children to hear (Mickey Mouse
Monopoly). He brings to light that if those kinds of questions aren t being asked,
then people are allowing Disney to shape the imaginations of millions of children.
This really sets up the film s discussion on the influence Disney has on children. By

who are concern that playing violent video games might just increase the risk of

In 2011 the field of video gameviolence experienced serious of repudiations. Video

the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle
owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own
attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically
condemns the Japanese for not understandingand appreciating the real meaning of
America. The paper argues against Childan perceptionon Japanese failing to
understand America because of lack of common ground.
Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his
arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle
occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to
understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because
they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America
because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to
understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American
customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America
but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The
Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan
perceives their understanding.
Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep
the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the
real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American
culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the
customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand
the real America.
Homosexuals In Russia
How have the perceptions of homosexuals rights evolved in Russia from the 1930s to
the 1990s?
In the 1930s, under the rule of Stalin, Russia was forced into a strict policy of
containment against rebellious groups and non descendants from the nation itself.
Proceeding the Russian Revolution, homosexuals were always seen as the unruly
minority of the population and were, in fact, commonly identified as the mentally
ill. Multiple anti gay laws were put into place by Stalin for many reasons, some by
which were thought to be based on conspiracy theories and others, by religion. Stalin
had set the precedent in Russia for many years to come until his death in 1953.
Following his death, there was a shift in attitude towards homosexuals, but Russia ...

The Story Of Schindler s List
The novel Schindler s List written by Thomas Keneally and the film recreated by
the award winning director Steven Spielberg is known to be one of the most
amazing portrayals of the Holocaust (Marks and Torry). Many stated that when the
novel was written, Thomas Kineally wrote something much more powerful than
just a biography, not only did he tell the story of a great Holocaust hero, but also at
the same time it described dreadful horrors of World War II (Marks and Torry). The
story of Schindler s List is about Oskar Schindlers life during the War, he was a Nazi
who ended up saving over 1,000 Jewsfrom concentration camps and was one of the
largest heroes of the Holocaust. One of the major motifs in Schindler s List is the
girl in the red coat, which is portrayed a bit differently in the film and the novel.
There is also a difference in how the theme is portrayed in the novel compared to the
film throughout Schindler s transformation. Schindler s transformation as a person is
one of the largest occurrences that are showed within both the novel and film.
Schindler s List is a widely respected Holocaust story in the industry that turned an
unknown novel into an award winning film. Schindler s transformation from a man
who is only seeking self satisfaction and gain to a man of righteousness and heroism
is vital to the plot of the film and novel. Schindler s maturation process parallels

Descriptive Essay On Cafe
The Lokal
In my ceaseless visits to new cafes that seem to be sprouting every other day in this
tiny island, it is only natural that I won t like some. But it is also natural to have a
favourite one that shines.
That s The Lokal.
This newly opened Aussie inspired cafГ© along Neil Road is not your normal stop
by dining spot. I was welcomed by the casual retro interior and comforting natural
light shining in from the French windows, one step into it and I had my heart on
sleeve already. The open concept kitchen where one could see the chefs in action
gave off the feeling of authenticity, a good break away from the countless typical and
pretentious cafes that have sprouted in recent years. My first impression of the place
heralded high expectations and true enough, The Lokal was more than extraordinary.

Sierra Leone War Essay
Living the RUF(f) life in Sierra Leone In Africa, specifically Sierra Leone, a war
rages between the government and the rebels. Civil war terrorizes the people and
has led people into fear and poverty. Some choose to run in fear, hoping the military
will come in and protect their families from the ferocities and hideousness of the
war at their doorstep. Others choose to, or are beaten into, joining the rebels or the
so called Sebels. Going into the book I was aware of the horrors of war and the
atrocities that humanity calls sane and legal in times of great crisis such as war.

I began my research by looking into how long the war was. Starting in the year
1991 the RUF was formed by guerrilla units joining with dissidents from around
Sierra Leone. The war was then declared over in 2002 in a statement after the
reelection of Kabbah in freetown. On May 15, 2001, the Sierra Leone government

beginning of 2002, disarmament was complete. This time there was no blanket

The Secret River Essay
A massacre is described as an indiscriminate and brutal slaughter of many people.
by the Collins English Dictionary. In Kate Grenville s, The Secret River, the early
settlers from England massacre a group of aborigines. This is based around true
events, Grenville says The massacre scene is based on eyewitness accounts of the
Waterloo Creek killings in 1838 . The events in The Secret River do not quite reach
the level grotesque violence that was perpetrated by the white settlers. In the Secret
River, one of the settlers with one mighty swipe took off [the aboriginal child s]

right? Hell yeah. Bebe definitely had the most exciting verse on the song. Nico Vinz

Kid Ink continues to display an exceptional level of comfort with any style of music

Persuasive Essay On Distracted Driving
The state of Colorado is NOT doing enough to prevent distracted driving, especially
among tech savvy millennials who ignore safety precautions set by the government
in order to reduce the amount of accidents each year from careless drivers. Despite
road signs and an increased cost on distracted driving tickets it is still technically
legal to text and drive in the state of Colorado. In July of 2017, the government
decided that using handheld devices while drivingis considered safe unless the driver
is being careless or reckless. What government officials refuse to acknowledge is
that it takes a fraction of a second to permanently ruin your life or someone else s.
Studies have shown that distracted driving delays the body s ability to reach to
urgent situations by an average of 6 seconds. Comparatively, the timing of these
reactions are very similar to those results of people who consume alcohol/drugs
prior to getting in the car and driving. As for the consequences, a ticket is $300 but
the guilt lasts a lifetime and those who drive recklessly and take the life of another
person never get over their foolish decision to prioritize a phone over their own
safety. It s important to educate the youth and future generations of the dangers
distracted driving can lead to as well as explain the effects if they are not careful.
By definition, the state of Colorado defines distracted driving as, 1. Cognitive:
mentally distracted, a driver s mind is not focused on driving 2.
Weapons Training Bruce Dawe Analysis
Bruce Dawe, a famous Australian poet born in 1930, in Geelong; writes about his
war experience in the Vietnam War and utilises a variety of imagery and literary
techniques to express his anti war sentiment in both Weapons Training and
Homecoming . Weapons Training written in 1970, involves a dramatic monologue of
a drill sergeant; training recruits who are about to be sent to the VietnamWar.
Homecoming written by Dawe two years earlier was written as a requiem for
anonymous soldiers, protesting towards Australia s involvement in the Vietnam War
during the 1960s.
PARAGRAPH 1:
Weapons Training by Dawe features a dramatic monologue of a drill sergeant;
training recruits which are to be sent to war. Based on his own reading and
reflection, Dawe was opposed to the Vietnamese War, believing it to be lacking
sense historically and ultimately futile. In the poem Weapons Training, Dawe shows
us the consequences of war and the things you need to do in order to prepare for it.

Little Brother Human Nature Analysis
Human Nature Expressed Through Conflict In Little Brothers
For centuries humans have adapted to many evolutionary traits ranging from the
ability to digest lactose or the ability to become resistant to certain diseases. However,
there are still many characteristics that humans have not evolved from, but continue
to express for thousands of years, such as true human nature being exposed through
conflict. In Cory Doctorow s Little Brother, the plot expresses many of these
characteristics which display that human nature can be blamed for many conflicts in
novels or in society. Throughout the novel, Marcus, the main protagonist of the novel
is plagued with struggles, but many of these struggles are grounded from human
nature. It is in human DNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For centuries this survival trait, had an effect on human life as its purpose was to stop
humans from allowing themselves to give up knowledge or information about
themselves to others. By not having the ability to put trust in others, there is a
chance that the person they distrust can perceive their actions as dishonesty which
can lead to more conflict. In Little Brother, the author allows the characters at
many times to express the distrust they have with each other. For example Marcus
had no choice but to trust Barbara the journalist and hope that she delivers his
story accurately. Marcus displays at many times how he cannot trust Barbara by
saying I could see why it would be useful if I wanted to dispute what Barbara
printed, though. Still, if I couldn t trust her to do right by me, I was doomed
anyway. (Doctorow, 265) Marcus has been through so much with the DHS that he
has no idea who to trust anymore. This distrust does not allow him to report his
issues to the authorities which leads to the main conflict in the novel which is
Marcus vs the Department of Homeland Security. These symptoms of distrust
allowed for suspense to generate while the readers anxiously awaited to see where
Barbara s true intentions lied. Throughout the novels the readers continue to gain
insight into Marcus s anxiety and distaste with the government and they get to see
how paranoid and distrustful Marcus gets with others. When planning the key
swapping party with Jolu and discussing who to invite, they state Tell them not to
bring anyone along or they won t be admitted. Jolu looked at me over his coffee.
You re joking, right? You tell people that, and they ll bring extra friends. (Doctorow,

Jolu accept that they do not know who they can have

These treatment guidelines are helpful for clinicians to determine which
treatments parents are likely to initiate for their children (Robert, 2013). The
primary care physician should initiate an evaluation for ADHD for any child 4
through 18 years of age, who presents with academic or behavioral problems and
symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity. To make a diagnosis of
ADHD, the primary care clinician should establish that the DSM 5 criteria have
been met; information should be obtained from reports from parents, teachers, and
other school or mental health clinicians involved in the caretaking of the child
(Robert, 2013). During the evaluation for ADHD, the primary care doctor should
include assessment for other co existing conditions, including emotional,
developmental, behavioral, and physical problems. The primary care physician
should inform the parents or guardian that ADHD is a chronic condition because it
does not typically go away. If a child is diagnosed with ADHD, they will more than
likely experience it in adulthood as well. However, it is possible for children to out
grow some of the behaviors. As children mature, symptoms usually become less
prominent. By late childhood and early adolescence, signs of excessive activity are
less common, and hyperactivity symptoms may be confined to jitteriness or an inner
feeling of restlessness (John M.

The forced wearing of the uniform obliterates distinctions between all age groups
young and older. Mr Brocklehurst, the self righteous minister of Lowood, tells Miss

them to luxury and indulgence, but to render them hardy, patient and self denying .
Mr Brocklehurst stresses the importance of plain clothing and humility (but his own

Jane was never able to shake and at Thornfield, she continued to wear dull clothes
covered by a plain pinafore. She had, however, no influence over the clothes which
Adele chose to wear. Even on her wedding day, Jane would not conform by wearing
elaborate headwear.
Jane herself is very clear about the sort of demeanour that is required of a governess.
When Rochester has guests at Thornfield, she knows she must shrink into the
shade . She is expected to be present in the drawing room in the evening but not
take part in the conversation unless directly addressed. She frequently refers to the
plainness of her dress, and sometimes to her own lack of physical beauty, as

not really surprised at Mrs Fairfax s opinion that it is unwise for her to move out of

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Vs Beowulf
English Final
As a kid we are all fantasized by the heros of stories, we gawk over the secret crime
fighters that rescue damsels in distress and fight evil and win with a single punch.
In these stories we watch as they accomplish superhuman feats, but then at the end
of the day they take off their super suit or disguise that masks who they are and
how they feel about the other evils they face in day to day life. Just like these
superheros we all have things we must accomplish in every aspect of our lives and
there is no way to avoid those things no matter who you are. We can see this is true
in both Beowulf as well as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead in a few very

Rheumatoid Arthritis had a couple of different names such as arthritis deformans, and
rheumatoid gout (Mandal, 2009). However with the studies conducted by Alfred
Garrod, he was able to make a clear distinction between Rheumatoid Arthritis and
osteoarthritis and gout (Mandal, 2009). Rheumatoid Arthritis has been around for
quite some time, and it seems as if it is very prevalent in the present times as well.
Risk Factors
Every disease has certain factors that play a role in contracting a disease. In
regards to Rheumatoid Arthritis, there are many risk factors that are involved.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is not a gender specific disease; however women are much
more likely to develop the disease in their lifetime (Mayo Clinic, N.D.).
Rheumatoid Arthritis can occur at any age of a person s lifetime, but it most
commonly to occur between the ages of 40 and 60 years old (Mayo Clinic, N.D.).
Like many diseases, genetics can play a huge role in determining the probability of
developing a condition. In Rheumatoid Arthritis, if a member in your family has the
disease, you may have an increased risk of the disease as well (Mayo Clinic, N.D.).
Also, the strongest and most consistent evidence in regards to RA is from an
association between smoking and Rheumatoid Arthritis (Mayo Clinic, N.D.). The
next risk factor of RA includes women that have never had a live birth, tend to have a

Spider Monkeys Lab Report
Color Vision in Spider Monkeys
Objective:
To determine the color vision abilities of four individual spider monkeys (Ateles
geoffroyi). Certain New World monkeys, such as spider monkeys, vary in the types
of color they can see. Furthermore, the color vision abilities of these monkeys vary
among individuals due to the differing genetics of males, who have dichromatic
vision and certain females who have trichromatic vision similar to humans (Regan
et al., 2005). Additionally, only one behavioral study has been conducted with
spider monkeys to test their color vision abilities (Ateles fusciceps and Ateles
belzebuth; Blakeslee Jacobs, 1982). However, with a sample size of only two spider
monkeys who were a different species than the spider monkeys housed at the zoo, this
research should be reinvestigated. Ultimately, the implications of the study will give
us more insight into spider monkey color vision and increase opportunities for
improved environmental enrichment for animals based on their individual color
abilities.
Procedure: We will use a match to sample paradigm to test color vision. In the match
to sample paradigm, animals are presented with a ... Show more content on

Initially, the animal will not be asked to discriminate between two boxes, but rather
just touch the only box presented to them after the delay. Once the animal learns
touching the box presented to them after the delay leads to reinforcement, we will
begin to present two boxes of differing color to the animals. In order to gain
reinforcement at this stage of training, the animal must be able to correctly
discriminate color based on the sample they just previously saw. Due to an absence
of other studies to access information from, I am uncertain of how many sessions it
will take before this behavior is fully
Human Rights In North Korea
North Korea more than likely is the most abusive administration on Earth. Moreover
human rights screens are by and large banned from the nation, as are radio
correspondences amongst citizens and outsiders. A few journalists and human rights
screens have been fruitful in revealing insights about the hidden governments
arrangements.
The UN s bonus on human rights in North Korea, which assembled proof for nearly a
year, including often harrowing testimony at public hearings worldwide, said there
was strong evidence of torture, execution and arbitrary imprisonment, deliberate
starvation and an almost complete lack of free thought and belief.
The government is essentially a dictatorship previously operated by Kim Il sung, then
by his son Kim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most as of late, on November 10, 2014, it sanctioned the Optional Protocol to the
Convention on the Rights of the Child, on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution
and Child Pornography. North Korea s constitution puts forward various rights
assurances, yet in all actuality the legislature subdues all types of disfavored
expression and sentiment and precludes any sorted out political resistance,
autonomous media, facilitated commerce unions, and common society associations.
Although human rights are better in some places than in others, human rights
abuses are a universal problem not only in North Korea. The rights of many people,
such as women have little to no protection. Women are commonly being sold as sex
slaves and forced into marriages, and consensual same sex sexual relations around
the world are punishable by imprisonment and execution. It s also good for us to be
aware so people understand equality and know their rights, to understand both how
they should be treated, and how they should treat
Termite Reaction Lab Report
Termites
Methods:
As an entomology class, consisting of 6 students and a professor, we walked around
a rural campus for approximately 45 minutes in Laurinburg, North Carolina;
collecting termites (unsure of exact scientific name) from underneath decomposing
logs from multiple sites within an acre area. With these samples, and the efforts of
Jared Kay (student), who continued the search after class, we had a combined total
of 30 termites including worker and soldier castes to study.
After samples were collected and consolidated to a tuple ware container, we set up
the experiment in the science lab, located at St. Andrews University, Laurinburg. The
experiment consisted of a white sheet of paper, and three writing utensils : rollerball,
ball point, and a sharpie. In essence, we release one termite at a time onto the white
paper and draw lines with each of the pens listed above; to determine which line or
lines the termite prefers. Each termite was tested and documented. ... Show more

This test was chosen because we were comparing collected data with what we
expected (Kowalczyk, D.). This allowed us to support our hypothesis: termites will
follow the line drawn by the ball point pen because it is similar to the smell used by
termites to mark designated paths, or prove our null hypothesis which stated that the
termites will not follow the ball point pen. By comparing the categories, how many
termites followed a certain pen or how many did not, the most favorable writing
utensil among the collected termites was determined. The significance level alpha
chosen was .05 degrees of
Jenkins Case Studies
Jenkins Family Case Study Module
In this case study, our group will assess the current health of the Jenkins family
based on our knowledge of the six dimensions of health, health promotion
strategies, and cultural/ethnic barriers to health care. The family members in this
case study are Theresa, Tyron, Pam, and Richard Renehart. Theresa Jenkins is a 78
year old African American/Hispanic female with hypertension, suspected
depression and is at risk for diabetes. Tyron Jenkins, Theresa s son, is a 49 year old
African American/Hispanic male with no known health complications other than
moderate headaches and an above average blood pressure. Pam Jenkins, Tyron s wife,
is a 36 year old Hispanic/Caucasian female who is 30 weeks into her third pregnancy.

Pam and Tyron allow support for their family due to their educational background
and tight knit family culture. Since Tyron is goal oriented, this allows the family to
have a leader for a structural support. He would be able to motivate Pam to quit
smoking, Theresa to get out of the house and exercise with him, and Richard to
improve his diet.
A positive and supportive relationship with family is a main priority in African
American and Hispanic descents. According to Halgunseth (2016), African American
adolescents who have family support are less likely to attempt suicide and abuse
substances. Theresa, Tyron, and Pam share the Catholic faith, which means that not
only is their spiritual health enhanced, but so is their social health by communicating
with each other and creating a sense of togetherness.
Psychoanalytical Theory Essays
Psychoanalytical Theory Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) was the first person to initiate
the thought of psychoanalysis. According to Friedlander (1947), classical Freudian
psychoanalytic explanations of delinquency focus on abnormalities or disturbances in
the individual s emotional development from early childhood. Since then many
people have amended his original writings and presently there are numerous versions
Freud s original psychoanalytical theory. Many of these recent versions are similar to
the original version with the exception that they are updated to current times. Few
new models are extremely different from Freud s theory. Adler, Mueller, and Laufer

86). The psychoanalytical theory focuses on the development of personality, the
stages of development and the emotional problems reflecting some unconscious
aspects of one s psychological functioning. Adler, Mueller, and Laufer (2004) base
this theory on three principles. First, The actions and behavior of an adult are
understood in terms of childhood development. Second, Behavior and unconscious
motives are intertwined, and their interaction must be unraveled if we are to
understand criminality. Third, Criminality is essentially a representation of
psychological conflict (p. 86). Freud believes that criminality has a lot to do with
the structural model of the mind. He breaks the mind down into three categories;
the Id, Ego, and the Superego. The Id is the unconscious seat of irrational,
antisocial, and instinctual impulses which must be controlled and shaped for social
adaptation to life in society (Akers, 1999, p. 50). When newborn babies are born,
they have biological drives that are unaffected by society. The Id can be considered
the instructional forces, which focuses around sexual desires or drives. This is now
the time when the infant knows nothing but the pleasure principle and when tension
gets high it will only behave according to the
Aesthetics And Its Impact On The Lives Of People

readers. Aesthetics are a form of philosophy which deals with nature, beauty, art, and
taste and appreciation for truly beautiful things. From art aesthetics to, aesthetic
judgment, normativity in aesthetics et cetera et cetera. Aestheticsin general have been

The unrecognized significance of Aesthetics I think everything in life is art. What
you do, how you dress, the way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile
and your personality, what you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink
your tea, how you decorate your home, or party; your grocery list, the food you
make, how your writing looks, and the way you feel. Life is art. Helena Bonham
Carter. Everything I seem to appreciate I note that one way or another I end up
relating whatever it is that stimulates my mind to art always. I m constantly
thinking in my mind how the smallest of things can drastically change the
appearance of things, the way they make you feel and communicate essentially.
One word in which you can observe me saying nearly in every sentence is the word
aesthetic . The word aesthetic lacks usage and is absent in the vocabulary of
various people I have spoken to throughout my life, by no means am I suggesting
for the word to be clichГ©d, but it is note worthy to say that it is definitely under
used. Aesthetics are essentially the reasoning and acumen behind literally
everything you can think of. It s the reason you wear those shoes your currently
wearing, because they look nice . It s the reason you are with your girlfriend and
vice versa because you guys. It s literally the reason behind why you put that specific
piece of furniture you

It attempts to understand how meaning is made in human experience, and it sees our lived experience of the world as the foundation of meaning. For phenomenology, how the speaking or writing subject uses language is primary both because it is how we experience its rules and conventions, in their use, and because this is the source of semantic innovation. New meaning, novelty in the world, and the possibility of a future different from the past are some of phenomenology s defining values. In this paper I will be sketching a brief survey of the phenomenology of Husserl and Heidegger. Husserl s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence is the source of law or test of all human knowledge. The validity of experience as meaningful knowledge rests on the fact of evidence. Whenever philosophical findings are presented as meaningful knowledge, they must be the expression of compelling obviousness. Evidence implies that an entity presents itself to the knowing cognition of man in such a way that it can be looked at in a direct and immediate manner and be regarded as meaningful. Evidence originates when a given, in its disclosure, is experienced as sense by the human soul, by means of an immediate intuition or observation. The correlation between intuition and the given in its disclosure, constitutes the experience called evidence, and is therefore a composite factor of evidence (Theron, 1995). 2. The Concept of Phenomenon Husserl calls the given in its immediate disclosure the phenomenon . Derived from the Greek verb phainomaf , it means to show visibility or to become visible. Phenomenon therefore suggests that which is disclosed, is shown, which is evident. The term Phenomenology was derived from this concept. Philosophy must broach the given or variable in its reality by means of Phenomenology. Husserl s call to go back to the phenomenon has dual significance: i. First of all, the common methodological demand is put to philosophy the demand of the greatest possible impartiality in approaching the

To a poor man the middle class is riches, but compare the middle class to the wealthy and they consider themselves poor. Life is a matter of perspective. Deriving from the Phoenician and ancient Semitic alphabet... for the word eye , O the fifteenth letter of the English alphabet is the eye through which we see the world. Like O, life is a cycle without an omega. We live and we die, but life never ends. Many religions believe that there is a soul that moves on to another place, e.g. heaven or hell, after death. Others believe that after death you are reborn as another being. The death of one thing can mean the life of another. This phenomenon can be observed when looking at a food chain; at the very bottom is grass, which is consumed by insects, insects are consumed by rats, rats are then consumed by snakes, which is eaten by hawks, and when the hawk dies it nourishes the soil allowing for the grass to grow, and the cycle continues. Examples include Mammuthus meridonalis (Southern Mammoth), Mammuthus primigenius (Woolly Mammoth), etc. (Brooks, 2008). Mammoths are best described as bigger, modern day elephants covered in a thick coat of fur and are symbolic of the ice age. This is due to their large size, their vast population of the North and South Pole, and their ability to adapt to extremely cold temperatures (Douglas, 2013). Some ways these mammals managed to survive in their environments were that their coats consisted of long, dark guard hairs and fine under wool allowing them to stay warm; the thick insulating layer of fat that was found underneath their coats and that their cheek teeth were large and made up of compressed enamel plates that were great for grinding up the tough dry grasses that they fed on. It is estimated that the earliest an elephant like animal lived was 58 million years ago. Mammoths first lived in Europe and Asia about 2.5 million years ago and entered North America about 1.7 to 1.2 million years ago (Brooks, 2008). However, due to the rapidly changing environment and the increased humanpredation of these species, there was a significant drop off in the population of Mammoths 11,000 years ago (Douglas, 2013). Research on some of the social aspects of Mammoths showed that they often travelled in herds, where the adult Mammoths were very protective of

Philip Dick states that the Japanese colonizers have a reflection of the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked the American culture by developing an interest in talking English and improvement of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and acquired American historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese occupying the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically condemns the Japanese for not understandingand appreciating the real meaning of America. The paper argues against Childan perceptionon Japanese failing to understand America because of lack of common ground. Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan perceives their understanding. Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand the real America.

By not having the ability to put trust in others, there is a chance that the person they distrust can perceive their actions as dishonesty which can lead to more conflict. In Little Brother, the author allows the characters at many times to express the distrust they have with each other. For example Marcus had no choice but to trust Barbara the journalist and hope that she delivers his story accurately. Marcus displays at many times how he cannot trust Barbara by saying I could see why it would be useful if I wanted to dispute what Barbara printed, though. Still, if I couldn t trust her to do right by me, I was doomed anyway. (Doctorow, 265) Marcus has been through so much with the DHS that he has no idea who to trust anymore. This distrust does not allow him to report his issues to the authorities which leads to the main conflict in the novel which is Marcus vs the Department of Homeland Security.
