Embratel Star One operates 7 satellites that provide satellite infrastructure for applications like TV, broadband networks, and telephony across Brazil and Latin America. Testing was conducted to evaluate integrating LTE networks with satellite backhaul. Two scenarios were tested: with the EPC located at the VSAT terminal and with the EPC located at the hub. Performance was improved with the EPC at the VSAT terminal, with higher throughput and lower latency. The results showed good user experience for voice services and sustainable data rates compatible with satellite capacity. Further challenges include improving traffic acceleration and testing EPC split between the VSAT and hub.

Mobile Backhaul Challenges
Mobile operators face challenges in meeting increasing bandwidth demands for mobile broadband services using their existing backhaul networks. This includes supporting multiple technologies over leased lines or self-built networks while keeping costs low. Transport providers see an opportunity in the growing backhaul market but must ensure their wholesale services meet stringent performance criteria for timing, quality of service, and other metrics required by mobile operators. Key technical challenges include synchronizing timing over packet networks and supporting various cellular protocols.
Challenges and opportunities on testing lte backhaul via satellite
Embratel Star One operates 7 satellites that provide satellite infrastructure for applications like TV, broadband networks, and telephony across Brazil and Latin America. Testing was conducted to evaluate integrating LTE networks with satellite backhaul. Two scenarios were tested: with the EPC located at the VSAT terminal and with the EPC located at the hub. Performance was improved with the EPC at the VSAT terminal, with higher throughput and lower latency. The results showed good user experience for voice services and sustainable data rates compatible with satellite capacity. Further challenges include improving traffic acceleration and testing EPC split between the VSAT and hub.

Lte security overview
LTE uses symmetric key cryptography with algorithms like AES and Snow 3G for encryption and integrity protection. During attachment, the UE and MME perform mutual authentication using the AKA protocol and derive session keys from which encryption and integrity keys are obtained for NAS and AS security. The UE and eNB then negotiate the specific algorithms to use for ciphering and integrity protection of signaling and user data.

It has offices and teleports located in Singapore, Dubai, Germany, and California and provides services globally using satellites from multiple locations.
iDEN Technology
iDEN is a mobile telecommunications technology, developed by Motorola, which provides its users the benefits of a trunked radio and a cellular telephone. iDEN places more users in a given spectral space, compared to analog cellular and two-way radio systems, by using speech compression and time division multiple access TDMA. Notably, iDEN is designed, and licensed, to operate on individual frequencies that may not be contiguous. iDEN operates on 25kHz channels, but only occupies 20 kHz in order to provide interference protection via guard bands. By comparison, TDMA Cellular (IS-54 and IS-136) is licensed in blocks of 30 kHz channels, but each emission occupies 40 kHz, and is capable of serving the same number of subscribers per channel as iDEN. iDEN supports either three or six interconnect users (phone users) per channel, and either six or twelve dispatch users (push-to-talk users) per channel. Since there is no Analogue component of iDEN, mechanical duplexing in the handset is unnecessary, so Time Domain Duplexing is used instead, the same way that other digital-only technologies duplex their handsets. Also, like other digital-only technologies, hybrid or cavity duplexing is used at the Base Station (Cell site).

Today, iDEN wireless handsets are utilized in a variety of work environments ranging from manufacturing floors to executive conference rooms as well as mobile salesforces.

For example, Motorola's iDEN solution offers the ability for you to hold a conference with a large number of people, with only the push of a button, helping you eliminate time-wasting and costly individual calls.
The iDEN project originally began as MIRS (Motorola Integrated Radio System)in the early 1991. The project was a software lab experiment focused on the utilization of discontinuous spectrum for GSM wireless. GSM systems typically require 24 contiguous voice channels, but the original MIRS software platform dynamically selected fragmented channels in the radio frequency spectrum in such a way that a GSM telecom switch could commence a phone call the same as it would in the contiguous channel scenario. The original MIRS System was renamed IDEN by Roger Wood, a young product marketing manager leading the branding effort who also gave the handsets their distinctive "chirp" and industrial design.

In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.
