The Debate Of Assisted Suicide
The topic of assisted suicide is very controversial and is heavily debated upon all
around the world. While physician assisted suicide is only legal in the Netherlands,
Switzerland, and a few states in the U.S., it is illegally practiced widely by physicians
and nurses, such as Dr. Jack Kevorkian. I first heard of physician assisted suicide
when the deathof Dr. Kevorkian, an assisted suicide advocate and a suicide aid, was
on the news in 2011. Kevorkian assisted in the suicide of many patients who could
not find any more reasons to live. Many people oppose of his practice, but I believe
Kevorkian was trying to help these patients find peace. This topic is important
because it can help end the long pain and suffering of patients. Seeing the struggles
of the patients Dr. Kevorkian has worked with makes me believe that the
legalization of physician assisted suicide it necessary, but not everyone agrees. The
main focus of this paper is how the rights and decisions of terminally ill patients may
impact the rest of us. The audience of this research paper is made up of physicians
and nurses practicing physician assisted suicide, patients with terminal illnesses,

The gap from childhood and adulthood is far apart. It is difficult for a person to
transition from one to another because it is a long process of maturing and
accepting that being a child is over. In The Catcher in the Rye Holden Caulfield is

because the adult life is something he is completely terrified of. JD Salinger
cleverly writes an astonishingly novel with the theme of maturity and the struggles

The Foreigner
Recently, the performers at Rollins College put on the two act comedy The Foreigner
by Larry Shue, directed by Thomas Ouellette. This brilliantly crafted show touches on
themes of racism, prejudice, and religious corruption in the American south during
the 1900 s. Along with the well crafted storyline, every theatrical element seemed to
blend together perfectly to create a strong harmony throughout the show. It is no
wonder that the comedy by Larry Shue became a staple at regional theaters after its
initial two year Off Broadway run , considering how thought provoking yet down to

Although there was no singing, dancing, or music (other than the intro, outro, and
radio music), the director made some very strong moves in regards to the blocking. In
high school, I was taught that blocking consists of business, movement, and gesture. I
think this show took advantage of every opportunity for blocking to advance the
storyline. When the actors moved downstage, they received the audience s attention as
planned, and vice versa. When the actors moved upstage, the audience s attention
then shifted to whoever was closest or in the strongest acting position. The director
himself has strong ties towards the show; being cast as the main role of Charlie on
two different occasions when he was young, this adds a personal element to the
production here at Rollins.
From an audience s perspective, a performer and their costume merge into one entity
(Wilson, 2011). The costume that was the biggest eyesore was Froggy s military
attire. As everything in the show has a rural, old fashioned theme, he brought
something totally different to the picture: camouflage fatigues. The costume that I
was most impressed by, though, was Ellard s. His outfit was a physical
representation of what people thought of him. He had disheveled hair, dirty overalls
