Essay On Non Verbal Communication
Crafting an essay on the intricate subject of non-verbal communication is no simple task. The
challenge lies not just in the need for comprehensive research but also in the nuanced
understanding required to unravel the various layers of this multifaceted topic. Non-verbal
communication encompasses a vast array of cues such as body language, facial expressions,
gestures, and even silence, making it a complex subject to analyze and interpret.
One must delve into the psychological and cultural dimensions to truly grasp the significance of
non-verbal cues. Moreover, exploring the impact of technology on non-verbal communication
adds another layer of complexity. As the essay takes shape, striking a balance between theory
and practical examples becomes crucial to offer a comprehensive view.
The writer must navigate through the intricacies of human behavior, considering cultural
variations, personal contexts, and the dynamic nature of non-verbal communication. Articulating
these nuances in a coherent and engaging manner requires a careful choice of words, an
understanding of the target audience, and an ability to convey complex ideas in a digestible form.
Despite the challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be intellectually stimulating and
rewarding. It not only demands critical thinking but also encourages the writer to develop a
heightened awareness of the subtleties in human interaction. However, the challenge remains to
present this acquired knowledge in a way that educates and captivates the reader.
In conclusion, the journey of writing an essay on non-verbal communication is undeniably
challenging, requiring a deep exploration of various dimensions and a keen sensitivity to the
intricacies involved. For those seeking assistance in navigating this complexity, similar essays

Yoko Ogawa Housekeeper
In the book The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa is about a new
housekeeper who works for an ex mathematics Professor whose memory last only
eighty minutes due to a car accident in his past. In the book, one quote that speaks
to me about math is I realized that he talked about numbers whenever he was
unsure of what to say or do. Numbers were also his way of reaching out to the
world. They were safe, a source of comfort (Ogawa 7). This quote changed my
perspective about numbers because according to the book the Professor repeatedly
asked the same set of question to the new housekeeper, the narrator. Every morning
he would ask her what is her shoe size, telephone number, or perhaps zip code and
etc. With this idea, it made me realize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How 28 changes my perspective about numbers is the recognition that there is such
thing as a perfect number. According to the book, a perfect number is when the
sum of the divisors equals itself. For example, the sum of the divisors of 28 is 28.
On the contrary, perfect numbers are rare like an amicable number because it does
not occur within most numbers. Other example of perfect numbers are 496, 8128,
33,550,336, 8,589,869,056, and etc. What makes these number mathematically
significant is that they are indeed rare as I mentioned before. Also, all perfect
numbers are even. Not only are they even but are opposite of the definition of what
is called abundant and deficient numbers. An abundant number is when the sum of
the divisors is greater like 18 whose divisors sum is equal to 21. When it is less it
is called a deficient number whose divisors sum like 14 is equal to 10. This shows
that numbers like 14 and 18 are no longer simple numbers. Directly it leads to the
uncovering of abundant and deficient numbers to the housekeeper. Not only did this
expand the knowledge of the housekeeper but formed a tighter relationship between
the housekeeper and the Professor because he was able to teach the housekeeper
different concept and terms in the field of mathematics. Abundant and deficient
numbers were terms the housekeeper never knew before she met the Professor.

What Are The Arguments In Time To End The War On
Drugs
The prohibition of drugs fails to create the greatest maximum amount of happiness
for the greatest number of individuals. Many issues arise with the prohibition of
drugs such as, black markets, and unnecessary imprisonments. Black Markets create
a rise in crime because buyers, and sellers can t solve their disputes in court, or with
lawyers. The buyer, or seller then turns to violence to solve their disputes. Milton
Friedman paper Its Time to End the War on Drugs mentions that informants are
required for drugcrimes, because neither the buyer or seller will be willing to, or
have the incentive to report a violation of the law . He also mentions in the paper that
the use of informants is costly, and the chance of corruption rises. Informants,
Assignment On The Aspects Of Clinical Decision Making
Assignment #2 Clinical Decision Making According to Mary Gillespie nurses do
range of thinking process before making a decision in the clinical settings. It is
subjective and is made on the basis of data collected by various assessments
(Gillespie M. , 2014). This assignment gave us opportunity to study and analyze a
case study where we witnessed the effects of clinical decision making directly on a
patient s health. Through this case scenario we see the main factors that
influenced Kathy s clinical decision making are assessments, personal knowledge,
previous experience, collaborative practice, information from family, and most of
all ethics. Paterson s Frame Work in this Scenario The basic knowledge of the
nurse helps her to make positive clinical decisions, in addition, a nurse remains
engaged with both existing knowledge and accruing new knowledge or skills
related to the specific patient or situation (Gillespie M. , 2014). In this scenario the
nurse Kathy shows various aspects of her knowledge and ability as the base of her
clinical decision making. Knowing the Self Knowing the self is about nurse not only
know her skills, strengths, experience, limitations but also believes in influence of
her own personal beliefs, values, assumptions, and perceptions while this guides her
in decision making process (Gillespie, 2014). As Kathy reflected and used her
experience with her co nurse to effectively communicate with Mrs. A s daughter who
was upset to see her mother s
Fighting Words In Canada
Fighting words are written or spoken words, generally expressed to incite hatred or
violence from their target. Specific definitions, freedoms, and limitations of fighting
words vary by jurisdiction. It is also used in a general sense of words that when
uttered tend to create a verbal or physical confrontation by their mere usage.
In Canada, freedom of speech is generally protected under Section 2 of Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Criminal Code of Canada, however, limits
these freedoms and provides for several forms of punishable hate speech. The form of
punishable hate speech considered to encompass fighting words is identified in
Section 319:

v. City of St. Paul, the Court overturned a statute prohibiting speech or symbolic
expression that arouses anger, alarm or resentment in others on the basis of race,
color, creed, religion or gender on the grounds that, even if the specific statute was
limited to fighting words, it was unconstitutionally content based and viewpoint based
because of the limitation to race /religion /sex based fighting words. The Court,
however, made it repeatedly clear that the City could have pursued any number of
other avenues, and reaffirmed the notion that fighting words could be properly
regulated by municipal or state governments.
In Snyder v. Phelps, dissenting Justice Samuel Alito likened the protests of the
Westboro Baptist Church members to fighting words and of a personal character, and
thus not protected speech. The majority disagreed and stated that the protester s
speech was not personal but public, and that local laws which can shield funeral
attendees from protesters are adequate for protecting those in times of emotional
On the Sidewalk Bleeding by Evan Hunter, The Hunger
Games...
When you are growing up your surroundings influence the choices you make and
how you grow up. The four text I studied are a short story On the Sidewalk Bleeding
written by Evan Hunter, a novel The Hunger Games by Susan Collins, a film
Remember the Titans directed by Jerry Bruckheimer and lyrics composed by Cat
Stevens. These four texts express the theme of how surroundings can influence your
choices when growing up
In the short story On the Sidewalk Bleeding , the character Andy displays the theme
of how surroundings can influence your choices when growing up as he is
influenced by his upbringing to join a gang called the Royals. At the start of the story
Andy reminisces about how he was accepted into the Royals, and that it ... Show more

The son s experiences before this make him think he has to go away, because he
was denied by his father during his upbringing. This over rights how the father is
trying to influence him to stay. The son feels out of place, this is similar to how
Andy felt unaccepted, so to gain acceptance Andy joined the Royals. Both Andy s
and the son s surroundings influenced their choices of moving away or joining a gang
which both relate back to the theme.
In the Hunger Games by Susan Collins, the theme of how surroundings can
influence your choices when growing up is shown through the character Katniss
Everdeen. She was raised in a very poor society called districted 12 which is one of
the many districts ruled by the capital. When Katniss is only 12 years old her father
dies in a mining accident, her mother goes into shock and barely moves for months I
lost two parents that day Katniss thought. She had to take charge so she began
cooking, hunting and trading to keep the family alive. Like the Son , Katniss s
upbringing is influenced by her surroundings. But instead of running away from her
troubles she faces them and overcomes her fears so she can provide for her family,
such as venturing into the hub (black market trading). Katniss was able to support
her family because her father had taught her how to hunt and provide for the family
if it was ever needed. This novel showed how your surroundings influence your fight
for survival
Welcome To Hyderabad, The City Of Hyderabad
Welcome to Hyderabad: The city of pearls , biryani and Charminar! Hyderabad is the
sixth Metropolitan city of India after Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and
Bangalore. Its known for its mouthwatering biryani, beautiful pearls ,the majestic
Charminar and a lot more. But what do we know about the history of Hyderabad?
Source: www.wikipedia.org
Hyderabad was established by the Qutub Shahi dynasty, but it only rose to
prominence when the Mughal rulers established their dynasty Nizams of Hyderabad
here. As a matter of fact, when India established its independence, the Indian Army
had to capture the then princely state of Hyderabad as its rulers(against its citizens)
wanted to be a part of the country of Pakistan.
Apart from having a rich culture and heritage ,Hyderabad is the rising IT Hub of
India. There are high rise buildings and wide spread campus of multi national
companies galore here. Google, Amazon, Infosys : all have expansive and beautiful
campuses here. Hyderabad also has a booming real estate sector. All these factors
make Hyderabad such a precious city that Telangana and Andhra Pradeshfought over
its custody when they seperated in 2014. Hyderabad was finally granted joint capital
status for 10 years ,much to the relief of its citizens.
The city occupies 650 square kilometres. This area ranges from the rich in heritage
old city to the modern HiTech City. The old city part is where the actual
Hyderabadis live, the ones who have lived here for generations. Over the
Print Media Press
46.Print Media (Press). The Government of India Act of 1935, gave a large
measure of self government to Indians but none of the major newspapers were
owned or edited by Muslims . However, when Indian Muslims began to organize
and rally to the political platform of the All India Muslim League, concerted efforts
were made to develop a strong press to support the Muslim national cause. A number
of Muslim owned newspapers were established. Two English language newspapers,
Morning News in Calcutta and Dawn in Delhi, began publishing in 1942. In the late
1930s, the first Indian Muslim news agency, the Orient Press of India, was founded.
Important events unfolded as under:
a.On the eve of independence, however, only four major Muslim owned newspapers
existed namely Pakistan times, Zamindar, Nawa I Waqt, and Civil and Military
Gazette, all located in Lahore. A number of Muslim newspapers moved to Pakistan,
Dawn began publication as a daily in Karachi on the day of independence in 1947.
Other publications were also shifted to Pakistan including the Morning News and the
Urdu language dailies Jang and Anjam .

Gender Wage Gap
Is The Gender Wage Gap A Product Of Personal Choice? As stated by the World
Economic Forum, women are being paid less for the same work in every country
in the world. They also stated that it will take almost two centuries to close the
gender pay gap in the world. So is this the result of personal choice? There is no
denying that individual choice makes up some portion of the wage gap. These
choices which are a part of social structure, like gendersocialization, culture, and so
on. But, there are other factor that makes up the gender wage gap also and the idea
that the gender wage gap is a product of only personal choice is incorrect.
According to her article The Wage Gap Is a Result of Women s Choices, Christina
Hoff Sommers argues that the wage gap isn t the result of discrimination but
because women and men have difference in education, experiences, and job tenure.
This is only partly correct especially now where women are known to have more
education than men and the same amount of experiences. The wage gap is also
due to the history women have. Jobs that lean towards more domestic labor work
like nursing and teaching are more heavily skewed towards females than males. As
mentioned by Barkan s piece, Gender Inequality, this is because women bear and
nurse children and men do not. Women are also seen as more gentle and caring so
therefore they were the perfect gender out of the two to stay home and care for the
children. Other duties also involved cooking for their
Market based environmentalism Essay examples
Market based environmentalism is a term which concentrates on the attainment of
protection of the environment by means of freely operating markets (Bruekner 2010,
61). Market based environmental policy approaches help promote both
environmentalism and competitiveness by putting emphasis on the positive results
rather than on the technologies (Bruekner 2010, 62). This essay shall explain the
advantages and weaknesses of natural step and natural capitalism and why they are
considered as market based environmentalism.
The natural step framework is an approach for tackling environmental problems built
on agreement and systems assessment (Bruekner 2010, 63). Its main aim is to make

Also, there is not the issue where the society needs to be subject to conditions that
challenge their capacity to meet their needs (Bruekner 2010, 65).
However, the main problem with natural step framework is that there is an increase
on the reliance and consumption of supporting resources and the life supporting
resources that are available are declining (Bruekner 2010, 65).
On the other hand, natural capitalism refers to the natural resources and the
environmental systems that offer life support services to all living things. These
services are of highly significant economic value to the extent of being precious and
beyond price. However, business practices and public policies do not take into
consideration the value attached to them. Therefore, natural capital is being lost and
ruined by the careless and inefficient use of natural resources. Natural capitalism
sticks to the promise of improved profitability and competitive advantages taking
place because of the implementation of this approach (Bruekner 2010, 67).
The natural capitalism approach also has various strengths. Organizations
implementing the natural capitalism approach will have the advantage of the
decrease in operational costs, capital and time (Bruekner 2010, 68). Since less

Character Analysis Of Grimaldi
Ina Chen The Ottoman empire has dominated the Mediterranean during the
seventeenth century, offering lucrative opportunities for Christian Europeans of low
social or financial rank (Matar 489). Within this sprawling empire, Philip Massinger
constructs the cosmopolitan city of Tunis as the stage for the confrontation between
the Muslims and the Christians. The Renegado reflects on the anti Turkish sentiments
during seventeenth century England as though to undermine alluring and
domineering influence of the Turkish culture, while demonstrating the spiritual
superiority of Christianity. Massinger conjures the image of a repentant renegade in
the form of the pirate Grimaldi. Grimaldi, like the his fellow literary renegades
undergoes a spiritual change in which he converts back to Christianity, unveiling
Islams failure in retaining its converts and the ChristianGod s punishment of those
who rejected Him (Matar 492). Massinger also creates the character of Vitelli to
demonstrate that even the most faithful of Christian men can waver from his path,
but through the timely counsel of the priest Francisco, he is able to resist his lust and
reaffirm his faith. Massinger uses Grimaldi to neutralize the fear of the enemy from
within (Matar 490), and demonstrate the all forgiving power of Christianity, which
can save even the darkest of souls. The renegade is the living embodiment of the
Islam s superiority, and to undermine this superiority through the reconversion to

President Obama publicized a menu of executive actions to curb the rising spate
of gun violence incidents. Given the chance to vote for or against each of nine key
proposals included in President Barack Obama s plan to reduce gun violence,
Americans backed all nine proposals. One highlight of said gun control campaign
was the expansion of background check protocol, this ordinance made for a typical
spike in reported background checks and gun sales in 2015. New federal data shows
2015 was a record smashing year for the American firearms industry, with gun sales
appearing to hit the highest level on record. Invariably, most gun shows, ranges and
gun shops have explicitly become Muslim Free Zones . Some gun vendors have gone
ahead to institute policies banning licensed American Muslims from owning guns on
the basis of religious bigotry and prejudice, without marginal considerations for the
tenets of the Second Amendment. Still, a study by the START Center at the
University of Maryland found that there have been more cases of individual/domestic
radicalization from the far right Americans than among Muslims in the United States.

Universal Human Rights And Universal Rights
Universal human rights are those that apply to everyone no matter where they come
from, who they are or what they do. They are held by the individual person and
protect them from other people and/or collectives (Bell,1999). Human rights
instruments found today are also compared to those in religions and ancient
civilisations that have contributed towards the understanding of human dignity
(James, 2007). There are many arguments on whether human rightsare universally
achievable and if they have already been achieved. This essay will put forward
different perspectives on this issue. Such as how the claimed universal human rights
are not universal, why they are not, and solutions to this issue to help them become
achievable.

Even though countries of the world have adopted these crucial rights that are
universal, it does not mean they can continue to agree on a much wider range of
rights to universally adopt. However, this also does not prohibit the possibility of this
happening. On the other hand, just because all countries agreed to these rights,
human rights violations still occur off the record and while institutions such as
Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch try to expose these instance of
abuse, this does not stop the situation occur, leaving these rights not actually
universal at all because not everyone s rights are respected (Bell, 1999).
Author Charles Taylor, thinks that the thin list of current universal rights should be
expanded. He thinks participants in a cross cultural dialogue should remain
impartial to try a reconcile differences and allow for more agreed up universal
rights to be established (Bell, 1999). If this was to occur, then this would allow for
the possibility for completely universal human rights to be established as people
from different cultures with different views and ideologies would be able to come to
some sort of agreement on what these rights should be. Charles Taylor states we
should agree on the norms while disagreeing on why they were the right norms, and
we should be content to live in this consensus,

Direct patient care services are to be provided by qualified, dietetic practitioners.
There are many resources available for practicing dietitians. Nonetheless, it is
important to use the correct professional resources when providing clinical services.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics should be the primary source of information
for clinical dietitians because it provides the tools and resources needed to be a food

Biblical Perspectives On The Roles And Status Of Women
In the last twenty years, there has been a marked increase in monographs,
collaborative studies, and periodical literature that have focused on biblical
perspectives on the roles and status of women. While more than fifty years ago this
subject received sustained attention in only a few books published in Europe and the
United States, by no means does the scope of the treatment, the stances espoused, and
the variety of volumes seen today compare with those found in earlier studies that
appeared shortly after the turn of the last century. Doubtless, the current
preoccupation with this subject is a barometer of the legitimate perception, in some
quarters, that women have not been accorded in modern society anything that
approaches what the Bibleitself, at times, seems to demand or at least to imply
strongly in terms of equality. Yet, it is troubling that most, if not at all, of this
literature, which purports to study the roles and status of women in the Bible,
invariably appears to have been written for the specific benefit of Anglo Saxon or
Jewish women of today as opposed to black and other women of the Third World
who find themselves in far more wretched circumstances than their more privileged
female counterparts. For this reason, it is necessary for the black women in ministry
to educate themselves and study some of the lines along which the biblical witness
provides images and themes for the uplift, liberation and divinely inspired leadership
not just of women

Imagine the math problem 23+68=?; this question could possibly be given to
students in second grade to solve. Below are two different methods for solving this

would use a two column setup and then add. The first step is to add six and eight
together to get fourteen, so drop the four and carry the one. The second step is to
add the two to the six and add the carried over one; the value of this addition problem

Clinical Journal Entry # 5: Shepherd s Clinic
Hours: 25.50 hours On this day, I presented my education presentation Nutrition for
High Blood Pressure at Shepherd s Clinics to patients and clients at the wellness
center. I chose this topic due to the high number of patients that report to the clinic
with a diagnosis of hypertension. For example, since beginning my practicum at the
site, I took a tally of those with high blood pressure. More than half the patients
being seen by a provider each day had high blood pressure. In addition to the
patients seen at the clinic, in the United States the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention reports 75 million Americans have high blood pressure (High Blood
Pressure Fact Sheet, 2016). Given these facts I wanted to address one big factor in
reducing the risks of high blood pressure and reducing the risk of developing heart

In the beginning of the novel, Beloved is a character that appears one day resting
on a tree trunk and is seemingly without a backstory. It becomes apparent that
Beloved is in fact the spirit of one of Sethe s dead children because Morrison
writes, But once Sethe had seen the scar...Sethe played all the harder with Beloved,
who never got enough of anything: lullabies, new stitches, the bottom of the cake
bowl... (Morrison 282). Sethe realizes that Beloved is the reincarnation of
daughter because the scar that Beloved has is the result of Sethe killing her
children. Furthermore, Sethe spoils Beloved with as much motherly love as
possible in order to make up for killing her. Therefore, Beloved personifies the past
because she is the literal embodiment of Sethe s daughter s spirit coming to life.
However, not only does Beloved embody the spirit of Sethe s dead child Beloved
also embodies the psychological trauma of Sethe s past because if it were not for
slavery then Sethe would not have to kill her child and experience the vengeful
spirit known as Beloved. Therefore, Beloved is a constant reminder to Sethe of
Sweet Home s atrocities. Morrison uses the revival of the past through Beloved in
order to comment on the enduring effects of slavery because Morrison suggests that
those who have been affected by slavery will forever be haunted by their captivity.

What Is Emily Dickinson s Insecurities About Religion
In Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Emily Dickinson shows insecurities
with attending church, and explains why she would rather stay at home. Her life at
home reflects her poem, and her culture at the time may have something to do with
her reclusive behavior. To question your religion would be to cast yourself out of
society. In Dickinson s, A Description of Herself she states that the books her father
brings her are religious except me , which further proves that she has insecurities
about religion. Dickinson s continual questioning of religion makes her behavior
reclusive, and fuels the writing of, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church.

She preferred that her works were kept more secretive, and only she would choose
who was aloud to see them. Other people around this era spent time talking with one
another about their writings, and having people look over them to see what they
thought. Emily Dickinson did not feel the need to be published, and she rarely
wanted someone to take a look at her poetry. This can be seen in Dickinson s A
Description of Herself when she writes Mr. Higginson and says, I bring you others.
She enjoyed seeing what Mr. Higginson thought about her poetry. Throughout
Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , the sense of privation can be felt, and
you can tell that along with other things, Dickinson enjoyed a more private life.
Richard Wilbur also mentions her more private life in his writing of On Dickinson
s Sense of Privation , and he clarifies that she would choose to stay away from the
outside world even the more enjoyable parts of it, and keep it at a physical remove.
This could be a source of influence in writing Some keep the Sabbath going to

Lutheran Social Services Case Study
Children s Home Society of Minnesota The social service I wanted to learn more
about was Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. In 2012, Children s Home Society
and Lutheran Social Services combined forces in their adoption services to provide
quality programs to families. They are an organization that provides social services
for adoption, pregnancy, post adoption, global support and educational services in
Minnesota. Their mission is to provide care and match children to homes. I had no
idea there were so many things to consider when you are deciding whether to place a
child in adoption, foster careprograms and to adopt a child either locally or
internationally. For pregnant mothers, they provide resources to help should they
choose parenting or adoption. For potential fathers, they provide the resources for
them to protect against their child getting adopted until a DNA test, allowing them an
opportunity before this decision is made. They work with families that wish to adopt

Body Ritual Among The Nacirema By Miner
Effective communication has many aspects that can be described as either
transparent or a hidden unknown, which in many readings it describes how
ambiguity is a necessary evil in communications. The Triangle of Linguistic Structure
can give phonology meaning form, semantics the value of meaning, and pragmatics
that feature the intention to uncertain communications. The direct statements of
saying someone is dead, can be harmful so they use etiquette to give reason to use a
buffer and instead say they have moved away. For a literary example I will use Who
am I this time? by Vonnegut and Body Ritual among the Nacirema by Miner, for both
readings use ambiguity to hide an allegory of communication concepts. The Body

Dna Digestion and Electrophoresis
DNA DIGESTION AND ELECTROPHORESIS
In this experiment we will be doing a process called as DNA digestion or also
known as restriction digest. A restriction digest is a procedure used in molecular
biology to prepare DNA for analysis or other processing. It is sometimes termed
DNA fragmentation, scientists Hartl and Jones describe it this way:
This enzymatic technique can be used for cleaving DNA molecules at specific sites,
ensuring that all DNA fragments that contain a particular sequence have the same
size; furthermore, each fragment that contains the desired sequence has the sequence
located at exactly the same position within the fragment. The cleavage method makes
use of an important class of DNA cleaving enzymes isolated primarily ... Show more

One of the most important reaction conditions which varies between different
restriction enzymes is the salt concentration. Enzyme buffers are specifically
formulated to provide the salt concentration for optimal enzyme activity. It is
important, therefore, that the correct buffer solution is used for a particular
restriction enzyme. [3]
For this experiment we also made use of agarose gel electrophoresis, which takes a
lot of time. Electrophoresis may be the main technique for molecular separation in
today s cell biology laboratory. In spite of the many physical arrangments for the
apparatus, and regardless of the medium through which molecules are allowed to
migrate, all electrophoretic separations depend upon the charge distribution of the
molecules being separated.
Electrophoresis can be one dimensional or two dimensional. One dimensional
electrophoresis is used for most routine protein and nucleic acid separations. Two
dimensional separation of proteins is used for finger printing , and when properly
constructed can be extremely accurate in resolving all of the proteins present within a
cell.
The support medium for electrophoresis can be formed into a gel within a tube or it
can be layered into flat sheets. The tubes are used for easy one dimensional
separations, while the sheets have a larger surface area and are better for two
dimensional separations.
In electrophoresis, proteins are separated on the basis of

A Brief Note On The American Civil War
One consequence of the American Civil war is that it was the largest catastrophe
in American history. Approximately one in four soldiers that went to war never
returned home. There weren t any cemeteries, burial details or messengers of loss.
The army didn t have the mechanisms needed to handle the amount of deaths the
nation was gonna experience. It was the bloodiest conflict and there had been an
unprecedented violence of battles such as Gettysburg, Shiloh and Antietam. The
Civil war was America s costliest war, with 623,000 dead, with approximately
33,000 from Pennsylvania. The wounded individuals were amputees that struggled
to overcome the perceptions of disabled as less than members of society. There
was a lot of diseases during the civil war. The worst out the bunch was by far
Dysentery. It had gotten around 45,00 deaths in the union army and 50,000 in the
Confederate army. Contaminated water had caused the disease. In those days,
hygiene wasn t a big issue. Another major killer was typhoid. This was also a result
of contaminated water or food. It had killed 30,000 confederate and 35,00 union
troops. Another consequence during the civil war was the economy. Of all the
disadvantages the Confederacy experienced during the Civil War, its lack of a
sound currency was particularly damaging. There was limited resources available
with more than $1 million in hard currency or specie which the confederacy relied
mainly on for printed money. It went down rapidly in

Descriptive Essay On Aggressive Suicide
My Impressive Warning
Don t move , a gun pointed my friend and me at a night that I might not forget. That
night, my best girl friend who came from Columbia went through a big change in
her life because she suffered from a sexual assault. I finished the SMU
questionnaire about sexual problem in few days ago. Actually I had either sad or
little delight because assigning a questionnaire to students means that a collage pays
high attention to students sexual problems. However, I felt sad because I recalled
my girlfriend s sexual assault again. No matter how old the women is, there is no
doubt that she or her family or friends were influenced a lot by sexual assault. Also,
I was impacted by my friend s sexual assault so I got warnings and some ideas after
that. In order to avoid sexual assault, everyone had better pay attention to her safety
and not have prejudices against someone who suffered from sexual assault.
I contacted my girlfriend on Instagram two weeks ago. I thought that everything
was better about her at that time because I felt she already had a normal life from
her photos. However, I burst my tears after my friend told me she tried her best to
accept the physical and psychological treatment. Although the sexual assault
happened in last year, my girlfriend still faced in her trouble. I remembered that that
day was the second day of our winter vocation. The strange phenomenon was that a

Orange Cat Garfield Comparison
Have you ever recognized similarities between you and someone from a book or
movie? To me, I share many similarities with a well known orange cat, Garfield.
Through our personality, characteristics, amongst other attributes, there are many
descriptions that make us similar to one another. Because of these descriptions and
attributes, there are many reasons as to why I am similar to Garfield.
First, a similarity that Garfield and I have in common is that we are both lazy.
Garfield is your typical cat; lays around the house, causing their owners immense
stress, and waiting for the meal given to them in the mornings, afternoons, and
evenings. I tend to procrastinate and wait until the last hour or so to do my work,
and would rather sleep when given the chance. Garfield and I both are also
sarcastic to an extent, and while the sarcasm within a pile of orange, black and
white pixels can only go so far, mine can travel interdimensionally. Finally, the last
trait Garfield and I share in terms of personality is that we are both defiant when the
situation calls for it. Garfield ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though he is a cat, and I am no more than a mere human being, we both share the
attribute of being slightly overweight. Well, that description would fit me better
than it would fit Garfield, as he probably weighs about a hundred pounds more
than your typical lazy tabby cat. His weight is often an object of ridicule in his
comic strips, as is my weight being an object of ridicule although in reality, it isn t
too severe. Garfield does not handle insults regarding his weight well, and will
often respond to remarks about such characteristic with a snide comeback or
violence. When that occurs, as opposed to how Garfield deals with it, I simply
shrug it off. As stated before, it s not that bad; however, it could be better with
exercise and an improved

Summary Of The Bourne Supremacy
Intensified continuity as a concept had four parts to it that contributed to it. The first
involved the use of rapid editing techniques meaning quicker cuts. With audiences
slowly beginning to expect this sort of action they became accustomed and began
enjoying these types of films. The next style was using a tight frame anytime there
was a dialogue between characters or the scene itself. By focusing in on the actor, it
placed an importance they compared the scene itself. The next style meant using
motion in shots, allowing the director to convey to the audience about the emotion
involved in that scene, using different lens lengths. Like using long lenses in outdoor
shots catching the action that was happening farther away or using a wide angle lens
to capture more of what s going on in the scene. In the film, The Bourne Supremacya
2004 mystery crime based film that follows Matt Damons character Jason Bournewho

same operative begins the hit for Jason hell bent on assassinating him. Intensified
continuity in this movie is essentially using short, focused shots on the protagonists
to maintain the audience s attention. But each of these shots has a single purpose
which conveys the small snippet of information needed for the audience to maintain
their attention with the movie. With the Bourne Supremacy, it all tends to follow the
specifics of the CIA attempts in hunting him down to sub
United States And Foreign Policy
United States (US) interference of foreign policy is a complex and much debated
issue in the United States. The major topics to be evaluated include the benefits and
costs in the areas of national security, humanitarian causes, trade, alliance, and
economic impacts. Additional concerns involve the loss of human life and the
animosity generated toward the US when the country decides to provide aid to
another. US interference can have positive and negative effects if acted upon by
interceding in foreign affairs. The United Statesshould not be allowed to intercede in
foreign affairs unless the US is trying to promote and preserve peace. US interference
consists of preserving national security, promoting world peace and a secure global
environment, maintaining a balance of power among nations, working with allies to
solve international problems, promoting democratic values and human rights, and
furthering cooperative foreign trade and global involvement in international trade
organizations (ushistory, 2013). One way the United States can secure the national
security is by protecting the borders from terrorists, instead of spending money for
foreign wars. The US should invest money to secure the border. Securing the border
would require fewer troops and would utilize unmanned surveillance technology
called the Predator B drone, which costs $3,234 per hour to operate (Isacson, 2014).
If the US would secure the borders, would provide a boost to the economy,
employment would
Blaise Pascal Fideism
In questioning the existence of God, the ideology of fideism is used to in support
the existence of God with the use of faith. Opposed to other various views, fideism
relies on the use of faith and/or revelation rather than depending single handedly on
reason alone. Blaise Pascal is a French philosopher that approaches the doctrine and
beliefs of fideism using his wager argument to confirm the concept that there is a
monotheistic Godin existence(269).
Pascal s ideology revolves around the wins and loses of betting. He states that if
we do believe in a God than our chances at happiness are achievable. He adds on
saying, under the circumstance that we do believe in a God, but He does not exist,
then there is no much to lose in the end. Although, if we do not believe that a god
exists then they is all the much more to lose and happiness is not achievable. This
essentially means that believing in a God is better than not believing in God at all.
Going into further detail, Pascal begins his argument by explaining that If there is a
God, he is infinitely beyond our comprehension, since having neither parts nor
limits, he bears no relation to ourselves (323). This brings up the question of
whether or not humans are able to decide if God is real. He states that we are stuck
between two decisions, two choices, or two infinities. These decisions of infinities
being God existing or God not existing. Pascal mentions that reason alone cannot help
us gravitate towards one decision

The Six Different Type of Energy
This report is on energy. Energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained
physical or mental activity. What that was saying is that for everything you want to
do, you have to have the physical ability and the mind set to do it. Energy and work
are the two most important things in human society. Work is activity involving
mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result. That means, is
you want something done, DO IT. Kinetic energyis energy that a body possesses by
virtue of being in motion. Potential energyis the energy possessed by a body by
virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within it, electric charge, and other
factors. Mechanical energy is mechanical energy is the sum of potential energy and
kinetic energy. It is the energy associated with the motion and position of an object.
The six different types of energy are thermal, electrical, nuclear, chemical, sound, and
light. Thermal push is the part of the total electric potential energy and kinetic
energy of an object or sampling of matter that results in the system temperature.
Electrical vigor is the energy carried by moving electrons in an electric music
director. It cannot be seen, but it is one of our most useful strains of energy because
it is relatively easy to transmit and use. All topics consist of atom, and every atom
contains one or more electrons, which are always moving. The energy released

Michael Sandberg, chairman of HSBC in Hong Kong, was considering the
alternatives for expanding in the US market.
Reasons to enter into the US market:
HSBC dealings in the Eurocurrency market had led to large deposits of US dollars,
British pounds and other currencies, which the bank needed to lend to borrowers
somewhere.
HSBC had been already operating in the United States since 1875.
Although HSBC had over a century of experience in international banking, it had
never considered a major move into the US domestic market.
In the late 1970 s, at a time where their British pounds, deutsche marks, and Japanese
yen could buy far more dollars than in the 1950 s and 1960 s, many of the bank s
clients were establishing offices, factories, and other investments in the United States.
Move into the US market as a hedge against the substantial risk of nationalization by

HSBC had a competitive strength: its large staff of experiences bankers who knew
about both lending and borrowing opportunities in Asia that were little known to
potential US clients.

Violence in Mass Media
Violence in Mass Media
Violence is everywhere and in everything from what we see to what we hear. Today
s society has become acquainted with the violence in video games, tv shows,
movies, and music since it is everywhere but many have become too attached to
this violence and brought it to real life. Many assume that getting rid of this
violence is essential to a more passive and peaceful society but there are more
benefits to the portail of violence that society sees today. One of the key items that
people assume that is the reason children of this society are more violent, is video
games but they started as all things do, a harmless activity for fun. The first
videogame was Pong and that was considered a fun game for everyone then to the
game, Dungeons and Dragons, which had actual text and story and so on and after
one of the most famous games, Legend of Zelda, games started to become more
action packed and violent. Every game after Legend of Zelda started to become
more violent, longer stories and better graphics in the 1980 s but when it hit the
1990 s, games started to become more 3 D and realistic. People fear that because they
are becoming more realistic every year that when people play them, they will be so
lost in the violence and story that they will drag it into real life like the Newtown
shooter, who said that he used Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 video game to train before
the shooting. Video games have changed a lot from the past and are more immersive

Reasons For The Executive Branch Of Bp
The purpose of this plan is to persuade the executive branch of BP to capitalize on a
new gap in demand for biofuels and in the process establish a foothold in the Cuban
market.
With embargo and travel restrictions becoming more and more lax, the Cuban
markets in oil, tourism and others are poised to boom. However, many other
competitors in the oversaturated market have their eyes on Cuba, and Cuba is still
leery of outside oil companies gaining footholds in its market and setting up drilling
operations in its backyard. Cuba s prospects also don t seem likely to hold oil wells
gainful enough to warrant the cost of establishing a rig.
But there is a possibly lucrative alternative to the Cuban market and it is through their

  • 2. Yoko Ogawa Housekeeper In the book The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa is about a new housekeeper who works for an ex mathematics Professor whose memory last only eighty minutes due to a car accident in his past. In the book, one quote that speaks to me about math is I realized that he talked about numbers whenever he was unsure of what to say or do. Numbers were also his way of reaching out to the world. They were safe, a source of comfort (Ogawa 7). This quote changed my perspective about numbers because according to the book the Professor repeatedly asked the same set of question to the new housekeeper, the narrator. Every morning he would ask her what is her shoe size, telephone number, or perhaps zip code and etc. With this idea, it made me realize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How 28 changes my perspective about numbers is the recognition that there is such thing as a perfect number. According to the book, a perfect number is when the sum of the divisors equals itself. For example, the sum of the divisors of 28 is 28. On the contrary, perfect numbers are rare like an amicable number because it does not occur within most numbers. Other example of perfect numbers are 496, 8128, 33,550,336, 8,589,869,056, and etc. What makes these number mathematically significant is that they are indeed rare as I mentioned before. Also, all perfect numbers are even. Not only are they even but are opposite of the definition of what is called abundant and deficient numbers. An abundant number is when the sum of the divisors is greater like 18 whose divisors sum is equal to 21. When it is less it is called a deficient number whose divisors sum like 14 is equal to 10. This shows that numbers like 14 and 18 are no longer simple numbers. Directly it leads to the uncovering of abundant and deficient numbers to the housekeeper. Not only did this expand the knowledge of the housekeeper but formed a tighter relationship between the housekeeper and the Professor because he was able to teach the housekeeper different concept and terms in the field of mathematics. Abundant and deficient numbers were terms the housekeeper never knew before she met the Professor. Acquiring new

Many issues arise with the prohibition of drugs such as, black markets, and unnecessary imprisonments. Black Markets create a rise in crime because buyers, and sellers can t solve their disputes in court, or with lawyers. The buyer, or seller then turns to violence to solve their disputes. Milton Friedman paper Its Time to End the War on Drugs mentions that informants are required for drugcrimes, because neither the buyer or seller will be willing to, or have the incentive to report a violation of the law . He also mentions in the paper that the use of informants is costly, and the chance of corruption rises. Informants,

Assignment On The Aspects Of Clinical Decision Making Assignment #2 Clinical Decision Making According to Mary Gillespie nurses do range of thinking process before making a decision in the clinical settings. It is subjective and is made on the basis of data collected by various assessments (Gillespie M. , 2014). This assignment gave us opportunity to study and analyze a case study where we witnessed the effects of clinical decision making directly on a patient s health. Through this case scenario we see the main factors that influenced Kathy s clinical decision making are assessments, personal knowledge, previous experience, collaborative practice, information from family, and most of all ethics. Paterson s Frame Work in this Scenario The basic knowledge of the nurse helps her to make positive clinical decisions, in addition, a nurse remains engaged with both existing knowledge and accruing new knowledge or skills related to the specific patient or situation (Gillespie M. , 2014). City of St. Paul, the Court overturned a statute prohibiting speech or symbolic expression that arouses anger, alarm or resentment in others on the basis of race, color, creed, religion or gender on the grounds that, even if the specific statute was limited to fighting words, it was unconstitutionally content based and viewpoint based because of the limitation to race /religion /sex based fighting words. The Court, however, made it repeatedly clear that the City could have pursued any number of other avenues, and reaffirmed the notion that fighting words could be properly regulated by municipal or state governments. In Snyder v. Phelps, dissenting Justice Samuel Alito likened the protests of the Westboro Baptist Church members to fighting words and of a personal character, and thus not protected speech. The majority disagreed and stated that the protester s speech was not personal but public, and that local laws which can shield funeral attendees from protesters are adequate for protecting those in times of emotional

They also stated that it will take almost two centuries to close the gender pay gap in the world. So is this the result of personal choice? There is no denying that individual choice makes up some portion of the wage gap. These choices which are a part of social structure, like gendersocialization, culture, and so on. But, there are other factor that makes up the gender wage gap also and the idea that the gender wage gap is a product of only personal choice is incorrect. According to her article The Wage Gap Is a Result of Women s Choices, Christina Hoff Sommers argues that the wage gap isn t the result of discrimination but because women and men have difference in education, experiences, and job tenure. This is only partly correct especially now where women are known to have more education than men and the same amount of experiences. The wage gap is also due to the history women have. Jobs that lean towards more domestic labor work like nursing and teaching are more heavily skewed towards females than males. As mentioned by Barkan s piece, Gender Inequality, this is because women bear and nurse children and men do not. However, the main problem with natural step framework is that there is an increase on the reliance and consumption of supporting resources and the life supporting resources that are available are declining (Bruekner 2010, 65). On the other hand, natural capitalism refers to the natural resources and the environmental systems that offer life support services to all living things. These services are of highly significant economic value to the extent of being precious and beyond price. However, business practices and public policies do not take into consideration the value attached to them. Therefore, natural capital is being lost and ruined by the careless and inefficient use of natural resources. Natural capitalism sticks to the promise of improved profitability and competitive advantages taking place because of the implementation of this approach (Bruekner 2010, 67). The natural capitalism approach also has various strengths. Organizations implementing the natural capitalism approach will have the advantage of the decrease in operational costs, capital and time (Bruekner 2010, 68). Since less

  • 12. Character Analysis Of Grimaldi Ina Chen The Ottoman empire has dominated the Mediterranean during the seventeenth century, offering lucrative opportunities for Christian Europeans of low social or financial rank (Matar 489). Within this sprawling empire, Philip Massinger constructs the cosmopolitan city of Tunis as the stage for the confrontation between the Muslims and the Christians. The Renegado reflects on the anti Turkish sentiments during seventeenth century England as though to undermine alluring and domineering influence of the Turkish culture, while demonstrating the spiritual superiority of Christianity. Massinger conjures the image of a repentant renegade in the form of the pirate Grimaldi. Grimaldi, like the his fellow literary renegades undergoes a spiritual change in which he converts back to Christianity, unveiling Islams failure in retaining its converts and the ChristianGod s punishment of those who rejected Him (Matar 492). Massinger also creates the character of Vitelli to demonstrate that even the most faithful of Christian men can waver from his path, but through the timely counsel of the priest Francisco, he is able to resist his lust and reaffirm his faith. Massinger uses Grimaldi to neutralize the fear of the enemy from within (Matar 490), and demonstrate the all forgiving power of Christianity, which can save even the darkest of souls. The renegade is the living embodiment of the Islam s superiority, and to undermine this superiority through the reconversion to

Altman Research Methods and Inquiry in Public Affairs II Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs University of Missouri April 26, 2016 Introduction Following recent noncombatant shootings in the US, President Obama publicized a menu of executive actions to curb the rising spate of gun violence incidents. Given the chance to vote for or against each of nine key proposals included in President Barack Obama s plan to reduce gun violence, Americans backed all nine proposals. One highlight of said gun control campaign was the expansion of background check protocol, this ordinance made for a typical spike in reported background checks and gun sales in 2015. New federal data shows 2015 was a record smashing year for the American firearms industry, with gun sales appearing to hit the highest level on record. Invariably, most gun shows, ranges and gun shops have explicitly become Muslim Free Zones . Some gun vendors have gone ahead to institute policies banning licensed American Muslims from owning guns on the basis of religious bigotry and prejudice, without marginal considerations for the tenets of the Second Amendment. Still, a study by the START Center at the University of Maryland found that there have been more cases of individual/domestic radicalization from the far right Americans than among Muslims in the United States. • 14. Universal Human Rights And Universal Rights Universal human rights are those that apply to everyone no matter where they come from, who they are or what they do. They are held by the individual person and protect them from other people and/or collectives (Bell,1999). Human rights instruments found today are also compared to those in religions and ancient civilisations that have contributed towards the understanding of human dignity (James, 2007). There are many arguments on whether human rightsare universally achievable and if they have already been achieved. This essay will put forward different perspectives on this issue. Such as how the claimed universal human rights are not universal, why they are not, and solutions to this issue to help them become achievable. The issue of ... Even though countries of the world have adopted these crucial rights that are universal, it does not mean they can continue to agree on a much wider range of rights to universally adopt. However, this also does not prohibit the possibility of this happening. On the other hand, just because all countries agreed to these rights, human rights violations still occur off the record and while institutions such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch try to expose these instance of abuse, this does not stop the situation occur, leaving these rights not actually universal at all because not everyone s rights are respected (Bell, 1999). Author Charles Taylor, thinks that the thin list of current universal rights should be expanded. He thinks participants in a cross cultural dialogue should remain impartial to try a reconcile differences and allow for more agreed up universal rights to be established (Bell, 1999). If this was to occur, then this would allow for the possibility for completely universal human rights to be established as people from different cultures with different views and ideologies would be able to come to some sort of agreement on what these rights should be. Charles Taylor states we should agree on the norms while disagreeing on why they were the right norms, and we should be content to live in this consensus,

  • 16. Biblical Perspectives On The Roles And Status Of Women In the last twenty years, there has been a marked increase in monographs, collaborative studies, and periodical literature that have focused on biblical perspectives on the roles and status of women. While more than fifty years ago this subject received sustained attention in only a few books published in Europe and the United States, by no means does the scope of the treatment, the stances espoused, and the variety of volumes seen today compare with those found in earlier studies that appeared shortly after the turn of the last century. Doubtless, the current preoccupation with this subject is a barometer of the legitimate perception, in some quarters, that women have not been accorded in modern society anything that approaches what the Bibleitself, at times, seems to demand or at least to imply strongly in terms of equality. Yet, it is troubling that most, if not at all, of this literature, which purports to study the roles and status of women in the Bible, invariably appears to have been written for the specific benefit of Anglo Saxon or Jewish women of today as opposed to black and other women of the Third World who find themselves in far more wretched circumstances than their more privileged female counterparts. For this reason, it is necessary for the black women in ministry to educate themselves and study some of the lines along which the biblical witness provides images and themes for the uplift, liberation and divinely inspired leadership not just of women

One of the most important reaction conditions which varies between different restriction enzymes is the salt concentration. Enzyme buffers are specifically formulated to provide the salt concentration for optimal enzyme activity. It is important, therefore, that the correct buffer solution is used for a particular restriction enzyme. Electrophoresis may be the main technique for molecular separation in today s cell biology laboratory. In spite of the many physical arrangments for the apparatus, and regardless of the medium through which molecules are allowed to migrate, all electrophoretic separations depend upon the charge distribution of the molecules being separated. Electrophoresis can be one dimensional or two dimensional. One dimensional electrophoresis is used for most routine protein and nucleic acid separations. Two dimensional separation of proteins is used for finger printing , and when properly constructed can be extremely accurate in resolving all of the proteins present within a cell. The support medium for electrophoresis can be formed into a gel within a tube or it can be layered into flat sheets. The tubes are used for easy one dimensional separations, while the sheets have a larger surface area and are better for two dimensional separations. • 36. Summary Of The Bourne Supremacy Intensified continuity as a concept had four parts to it that contributed to it. The first involved the use of rapid editing techniques meaning quicker cuts. With audiences slowly beginning to expect this sort of action they became accustomed and began enjoying these types of films. The next style was using a tight frame anytime there was a dialogue between characters or the scene itself. By focusing in on the actor, it placed an importance they compared the scene itself. The next style meant using motion in shots, allowing the director to convey to the audience about the emotion involved in that scene, using different lens lengths. Like using long lenses in outdoor shots catching the action that was happening farther away or using a wide angle lens to capture more of what s going on in the scene. In the film, The Bourne Supremacya 2004 mystery crime based film that follows Matt Damons character Jason Bournewho s is framed by a Russian operative for stealing millions of dollars from the CIA. That same operative begins the hit for Jason hell bent on assassinating him. Intensified continuity in this movie is essentially using short, focused shots on the protagonists to maintain the audience s attention. But each of these shots has a single purpose which conveys the small snippet of information needed for the audience to maintain their attention with the movie. With the Bourne Supremacy, it all tends to follow the specifics of the CIA attempts in hunting him down to sub
  • 37. United States And Foreign Policy United States (US) interference of foreign policy is a complex and much debated issue in the United States. The major topics to be evaluated include the benefits and costs in the areas of national security, humanitarian causes, trade, alliance, and economic impacts. Additional concerns involve the loss of human life and the animosity generated toward the US when the country decides to provide aid to another. US interference can have positive and negative effects if acted upon by interceding in foreign affairs. The United Statesshould not be allowed to intercede in foreign affairs unless the US is trying to promote and preserve peace. US interference consists of preserving national security, promoting world peace and a secure global environment, maintaining a balance of power among nations, working with allies to solve international problems, promoting democratic values and human rights, and furthering cooperative foreign trade and global involvement in international trade organizations (ushistory, 2013). One way the United States can secure the national security is by protecting the borders from terrorists, instead of spending money for foreign wars. The US should invest money to secure the border. Securing the border would require fewer troops and would utilize unmanned surveillance technology called the Predator B drone, which costs $3,234 per hour to operate (Isacson, 2014). If the US would secure the borders, would provide a boost to the economy, employment would
  • 38. Blaise Pascal Fideism In questioning the existence of God, the ideology of fideism is used to in support the existence of God with the use of faith. Opposed to other various views, fideism relies on the use of faith and/or revelation rather than depending single handedly on reason alone. Blaise Pascal is a French philosopher that approaches the doctrine and beliefs of fideism using his wager argument to confirm the concept that there is a monotheistic Godin existence(269). Pascal s ideology revolves around the wins and loses of betting. He states that if we do believe in a God than our chances at happiness are achievable. He adds on saying, under the circumstance that we do believe in a God, but He does not exist, then there is no much to lose in the end. Although, if we do not believe that a god exists then they is all the much more to lose and happiness is not achievable. This essentially means that believing in a God is better than not believing in God at all. Going into further detail, Pascal begins his argument by explaining that If there is a God, he is infinitely beyond our comprehension, since having neither parts nor limits, he bears no relation to ourselves (323). This brings up the question of whether or not humans are able to decide if God is real. He states that we are stuck between two decisions, two choices, or two infinities. These decisions of infinities being God existing or God not existing. Pascal mentions that reason alone cannot help us gravitate towards one decision

Michael Sandberg, chairman of HSBC in Hong Kong, was considering the alternatives for expanding in the US market. Reasons to enter into the US market: HSBC dealings in the Eurocurrency market had led to large deposits of US dollars, British pounds and other currencies, which the bank needed to lend to borrowers somewhere. HSBC had been already operating in the United States since 1875. Although HSBC had over a century of experience in international banking, it had never considered a major move into the US domestic market.
