Difficult Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Difficult Essay Topics" is inherently paradoxical. The challenge
lies not only in navigating complex subjects but also in the meta-awareness of discussing the
difficulty of the task itself. It becomes a delicate balance between addressing the inherent
complexities of the chosen theme and acknowledging the intricate process of crafting an essay
on such a topic.
One of the primary difficulties is the subjective nature of what makes an essay topic difficult.
What might be challenging for one person could be a stimulating intellectual exercise for
another. The writer must grapple with the varied perceptions and interpretations of difficulty,
adding an extra layer of complexity to the task.
Furthermore, delving into difficult essay topics often involves extensive research and critical
analysis. This requires a nuanced understanding of the subject matter, the ability to synthesize
diverse sources, and the skill to present a coherent argument. The writer must navigate through
the complexities of the topic with clarity and precision, ensuring that the audience can follow the
intricate web of ideas presented.
Addressing potential counterarguments and presenting a well-rounded perspective adds another
layer of difficulty. A comprehensive exploration of a challenging topic requires intellectual depth,
analytical prowess, and a commitment to presenting a balanced view. This demands a
considerable investment of time and effort to ensure that the essay is not only thought-provoking
but also rigorously constructed.
Moreover, the writer must be mindful of engaging the reader throughout the essay.
Communicating complex ideas effectively requires a skillful use of language, ensuring that the
narrative flows seamlessly without losing the reader in a maze of intricate concepts. Striking the
right balance between depth and accessibility is a continuous challenge in the realm of difficult
essay topics.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the subject of "Difficult Essay Topics" involves a multi-
faceted challenge. The intricacies extend beyond the chosen theme to encompass the process of
crafting an essay itself. It requires a delicate dance between exploring complex subjects,
conducting thorough research, presenting well-rounded arguments, and maintaining reader
engagement. Success in such endeavors demands not only intellectual acuity but also a
dedication to the art of effective communication.

Case Study Of Airbnb
1.Introduction
The current cultural tourism industry resembles a corporate battlefield with intense
competition ranging from existing players to new entrants.
The primary weakness of WTS Travel and Tourism Private Limited (WTS Travel) lies
with not keeping up with the technological progress in the cultural tourism industry,
its online booking services competitors like Expedia have already captured a large
portion of the cultural tourism industry. Therefore, to thrive in this disruptive nature
of the new economy, WTS Travel must tap on is the rising use of Airbnb (Goldman
Sachs, 2016). Airbnb is a rapidly expanding peer to peer marketplace and homestay
where homeowners can rent out their local homes to travelers.
This report will recommend WTS Travel to work with Airbnb to take advantage of
the aforementioned trend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Airbnb, users can better understand the local culture by staying in a native s
house and exploring the heartlands as a local (Varma et al , 2016).
Additionally, Airbnb s homes are not only cheaper but also deliver quality cultural
experiences. Airbnb prices are largely lower than conventional accommodations
like hotels (Guttentag, 2015 ; Olson et al, 2016; Varma et al , 2016 ). Furthermore,
only Airbnb accommodations with high ratings and great reviews will be selected
for WTS X Airbnb packages because potential customers also look for
accommodations with higher review ratings rather than simply looking at the price
(Varma et al , 2016). By doing so, it will cater to this specialized segment looking for
local experience away from commercialized areas.
Airbnb is also crafting an app, Magical Trips (Appendix B) which acts like a
personal tour guide recommending travelers cultural places, historical trails and
explaining history of cultural locations. This could replace tour guides for F E
travellers.

Comparing Pilgrims And Puritans In Early America
Pilgrims and Puritans by Victor. B Lane
The major difference between pilgrims and puritans is mostly in definition and not
necessarily type. Both stem from the same beginning which was a deliberate response
to the failing religious state of a young England.
Protestantism was a difficult religion to fare during the reign of King Henry VIII.
Mostly because the king was a committed Catholic. When he replaced Pope Clement
VII as head of the Catholic Church it became pure treason and doubly, heresy, to
defy Catholicism (Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America).
During this time the Protestants stayed quiet and hidden until King Henry s radical
Protestant son Edward VI took the throne. However, this heyday for the Protestants
was cut ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Couple this with the fact that the Separatists had no less a religious purpose than the
non separating Puritans who followed them and the name Pilgrims loses all meaning.
So Separatists they were, and Separatists they will be here.
(Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America)
These Pilgrims first set sail for Holland where they sought safe refuge to pursue their
religious undertakings. This did not remain as a lasting settlement for several
reasons. Not being Dutch it was hard for the Pilgrims to find work. Doubly, the
Pilgrim parents feared their children were losing their faith and religion (National
Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims). Even moreso, there was the danger that
Puritan children were being exposed to the licentiousness of dutch youth (pg. 27
Schweikart and Allen A Patriots History of the United States). A needed break came a
while later when the Pilgrims received assurances from the King that they could
exercise their religious views freely in the new world (pg. 27 Schweikart and Allen A

Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary
The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written
by Chuck Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so
popular. Klosterman writes that rise of popularity of zombies is different than that
of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially created as representations of
fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains that zombies
could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an
allegory for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman
highlights this fact to be why zombies have risen to such high popularity.
Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in zombies has grown so
much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large
quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such
intrigue in zombies is their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies
to many real life activities, like going through a weekends worth of emails on
Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can get from the internet,
the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are very
similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity
of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. His
examples were strong proof of his concepts and did not detract from the overall
article. Klosterman s transitions were subtle, but were good enough to keep a
consistent flow throughout the article. The only time that I felt the article was
lacking in direction was the very last part. It highlighted the prepetition of people
against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a
bad article, just something that I felt was out of
Elizabeth s Soft Nature Of The Perfect Woman
Elizabeth s soft nature conveys the epitome of the perfect woman during the early to
mid nineteenth century. The readers are introduced to Elizabeth primarily through
her looks. In Frankenstein, others are compared to Elizabeth s beauty as her fairness
attracts attention from the hardy little vagrants surrounding her (Shelley 32). The
other children are described as vagrants, homeless wanderers, while Elizabeth
embodies an angelic nature. The juxtaposition of her light, fair appearance among the
dark, poor other children attracted the attention of Caroline Frankenstein, leading to
her safety from poverty and entrance into a higher social status. Elizabeth, the perfect
woman, lacked the hardy and tough nature of the other children, and belonged in a
higher social class. As Elizabeth expands her education she partakes in the
traditional education of a woman during the Romanticist era as she busied herself
with following the aerial creations of the poets; and in the majestic and wondrous
scenes (Shelley 35). While Victor discovers natural laws and science, Elizabeth
educates herself in her beautiful surroundings of nature. Her knowledge is grounded
in the whimsical flights of poets during Shelley s contemporary and immensely more
carefree and naГЇve than that of her male counterpart. Furthermore she symbolizes
the most naГЇve force love to balance Victor s determination and curiosity as she was
the living spirit of love to soften and attract (Shelley 37).
Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis
I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only
really love one so far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the
number of his films I love, increased after we watched his beloved Vertigo in my
class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my favorite Hitchcock film. This film
stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San Francisco detective forced to
quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop acrophobia. He soon
takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance from
college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart
obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was
Stewart as Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve
never been as enamored with him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as
I think this is his best performance I ve seen. He makes you care for his character
and believe his motivations and feelings for the first portion of the movie. He
struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking our
sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he
becomes genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine
Elster, the wife Stewart s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about
her during that first part of the movie that works quite well. Later, her performance
takes a turn,
Chevrolet Comparison
The Chevrolet Cobalt is a compact front wheel drive model and successor to the
popular Chevrolet Cavalier. Originally offered in sedan, coupe, and supercharged
versions, the latter was eventually replaced by a turbo. Following a six year run, the
Cobalt was replaced by the Chevrolet Cruze.
Chevrolet Cobalt: 2005 to 2010
The Chevrolet Cobalt was introduced in 2005 and built through 2010. This model
replaced the Cavalier and was itself replaced by the Cruze. Buyers considering the
Cobalt might also explore the nearly identical Pontiac G5 built from 2007 to 2009.

The sedan also received an SS edition with both models powered by a naturally
aspirated 2.4 liter engine and the SS Supercharged powered by the 2.0 liter, four
cylinder engine.
Beginning in 2007, Chevrolet rolled out a new audio system, wheel packages, and a
new steering wheel. Additional trim shuffling took place in 2008. The SS coupe and
SS sedan were renamed the Sport coupe and the Sport sedan, respectively. Previous
optional equipment, including an MP3 player, XM radio, and side impact airbags
were now standard. A new stability control system was introduced.
For 2009, the Sport coupe and Sport sedan models were eliminated, along with the
2.4 liter engine powering them. An upgraded 2.2 liter engine was introduced.
Bluetooth connectivity was added as well. Other changes included making OnStar
telematics standard across the model line, an iPod compatible USB port was added
to the radio, and new low rolling resistance tires were introduced.
The 2010 Cobalt is mostly a carryover model with a new My Link telematics and
trim package introduced. A power sunroof and performance display were made
standard on the Cobalt SS
The Three Branches Of Government
When the founders were creating the Constitution for the new nation they wanted to
keep the freedoms of the United States but wanted to have a strong government.
They thought the best way to get a strong government but to keep the people s
rights were to create the three branches of government. The three branches of
government are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branch. Legislative makes
laws, Executive enforces the laws, and the Judicial branch explains the laws. Know
we will key on the Legislative Branch. How did the Legislative Branch come to be?
The Legislative Branch was founded on March 4, 1789. We got the idea of the
Legislative Branch from British Parliament. It is a bicameral legislature, bicameral

In this process a bill is drafted, then it is introduced in the house. The Speaker of
the House sends the bill to a committee, the committee decides to make changes to
the bill or kill it. If the bill gets sent on, it gets sent to the Senate. In the senate it is
sent to another committee and if majority vote for it, the bill will go to the whole
Senate. The bill gets debated and amendments add, if needed, and then sent back to
the House. Any changes made and House doesn t agree it goes to a committee to
find compromises. After the compromise it goes to the President. If the President

important people in the legislative branch is the Speaker of the House, President of
the Senate, and the Senate Majority. The Speaker is the head of the House, they
preside over the Majority Leader. As the Speaker is the highest in the House, they
hardly vote or participate in debates. The president of the Senate is the vice
president. The vice president presides over the Senate and votes only if there is a
tie in the senate. Also, if the president were to die or become unable of being the
president, the vice president takes over. Another important member in Congress is
the Majority Leader, they are just under the Speaker of the House. The Majority
Leader makes sure that no one in a party votes from something the party is against,
or doesn t agree with. These are some of the
Similarities Between Scarlet Begonias And Fire On The...
Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain Essay
Michael Peller has been a fan of the Grateful Dead for as long as he can remember.
As a child, he listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college
student, he attended live performances.
The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic,
psychedelic rock style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural
movement of the 1960s. The movement gained speed alongside the civil rights
movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead embraced these new beliefs in their
songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam genre, which is based
off of live improvisation.

However, the parts of the song that most affected Mike Peller were the allusions to
and imagery of the 70s. The song s story follows a young man, walking around the
local square, who is entranced by a young woman with scarlet begonias tucked into
her curls (Grateful Dead). She also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes,
a line that has stuck with Mike because of how the image reminds him of the 70s,
and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being carefree. Mike doesn t have
much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he does love the
rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael
Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be meaningful in ways related to Mike s
enjoyment of the song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is repeated throughout
the song, and almost sounds like an urgent call for help. Despite this, the beat and
music rolls on. The song pokes fun at a long distance runner who continues to make
and dance to music even as a dragon with matches is loose on the town . But when
fans dance to the music live at a concert, the lyrics take on a different meaning: on
how even as everything is burning down, the fans keep dancing and the Grateful

Essay On Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam is legendary. Having visited and stood on it s bridge many times,
there is no way to describe the incredible power that one feels just setting foot near
the place. In 1922, the Reclamation Service presented a report calling for the
development of a dam on the Colorado River for flood control and electric power
generation. Even before Congress approved the Boulder Canyon Project, the Bureau
of Reclamation was considering what kind of damshould be used. Officials
eventually decided on a massive concrete arch gravity dam, the design of which was
overseen by the Bureau s chief design engineer John L. Savage. Construction of
Hoover Dambegan in 1931, and the last concrete was poured in 1935, two years
ahead of schedule. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the dam on
September 30, 1935. The power plant structures were completed in 1936, and the
first generator began commercial operation in October of that year. The vital
statistics describing Hoover Dam and its benefits are quite impressive on paper, but
having visited the location and lived in areas of the country who benefit from the
dam, the overwhelming size and impact of the project is made real. The dam is thick
at the bottom and thin near the top, and would present a convex face towards the
water above the dam. The curving arch of the dam would transmit the water s force

Examples Of Paradox Of Sight In Oedipus Rex
Oedipus Paper
Sophocles tragedy, Oedipus the King, tells the story of the leader of Thebes who
unknowingly kills his father, takes his place as king, and marries the queen, who is
his mother. In Sophocles tragedy, the paradox of sight as in seeing the truth, and
prophecy and blindness in terms of not seeing and not accepting truth and trying to
evade prophecy is present throughout the play. A paradox is a statement or
proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible
truth (dictionary.com). Although sight in blindness and blindness in sight are self
contradicting, upon interpretation this paradox makes logical sense in the play. The
paradox portrayed in the play makes logical sense, because when first introduced the

At this point in the play Tiresias has been brought to Oedipus to answer his questions
about the murder of King Laius. Tiresias tries to reason with Oedipus, telling him
that the truth is a burden and he is better off not knowing the truth of the life he is
living. Tiresias first says How terrible to see the truth when the truth is only pain to
him who sees! I knew it well (Sophocles 359 361). The use of the word see instead
of the word to know in itself already is contradictory. Although Tiresias cannot
physically see, he is not blind to the truth of Oedipus life and he knows the pain
that Oedipus would face if he knew the truth. Tiresias also says that he can see by
saying that he knows it well which refers to the burdens that come along with
knowing the truth of things. Although in this quote it is said Tiresias can see, it
refers to his knowledge of truth giving his the ability to see despite his physical
blindness. While all of this shows Tiresias sight despite his blindness, it also shows

Why I Want to Study Medicine
The sun exploded into a million shades of orange. I sat, friends at each side, atop a
monstrous pile of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National
Park, and saw a glimpse of myself. Love filled my soul; love of people, love of
family. The backcountry has always helped me find this love; it has been my personal
northstar, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started backpacking at 13,
trekking across the winter harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but
despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling
warmed my numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to
my friends, fostering the teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of
introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy;
eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping others. This is how the
backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would be based
on these lessons. When I was in high school, I had no inkling of where I was going,
but I tested the waters. I volunteered at the Mrs. Tewillegar Wildlife Foundation and
did a rotation observing anesthesiologists in San Francisco. I was a green advocate
and spent much of my time reading about and debating the travesties visited upon the
environment.
In my young explorations I found that medicine and environmental politics peaked
my interest. In my first semester at Pitzer College, I started to study
Essay about Success and Failure in the US-Mexico War on...
Illegal narcotic drugs represent a $60 billion market in the U.S., and this year alone
the State and Federal governments will each spend roughly $20 billion in attempting
to stifle this market. The amount of money involved in the drug trade, substantially
inflated due to prohibition, makes both systemic corruption and violence inevitable.
The illegal drug trade is a sophisticated international network, and while no nation s
involvement is limited to one economic function, one relationship is crystal clear:
Mexico serves as a high volume channel of drugsinto the United States, and drug

and Mexico. This paper examines the nature of the illegal drug market, the obstacles
faced by the US and Mexico in their war on drugs, as well as the current developments
and a proposed alternative to the allegedly futile and misguided effort.
BACKGROUND
Over the past decade, Mexican drug organizations secured a prominent position in the
cocaine market that was formerly dominated by Colombian drug cartels, and opened
the doors for Mexican groups to dominate the drug trafficking market. According to a
Drug Intelligence Brief by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Mexico
continues to be the principal transit route for cocaine available in the United States an
estimated 70 percent of the cocaine entering the United States is smuggled across the
U.S. Southwest border.[3] Mexico is also a source country for heroin, marijuana, and
methamphetamine available in the United States, as well as various pharmaceutical
drugs.
Drug production and trafficking, as well as the laundering of drug proceeds, is
currently controlled by powerful and well organized Mexican organizations. A major
trafficking group might contain 200 or more members in the Mexico base, with
hundreds of additional members throughout the organization s network. Not
surprisingly, the most prominent trafficking organizations, such as the Arrellano
Felix cartel, control the drug trade across broad tracts

Marshall Manson is the managing director of social media, and he gave a great
presentation to us for the business visit at Ogilvy. His background is extensive and
quite impressive. The social media department is responsible for creating campaigns
for each of their clients to expand their brand. One of the examples
Manson showed us in his presentation was the campaign he and his team created
for Coca Cola. The Islamic tradition Ramadan was the basis for this campaign.
Muslims that celebrate Ramadan usually work a half a day, get off early and go
home and have a celebration. So Manson and his team came up with a campaign
that would benefit from the Ramadan tradition. Their strategy was to show the heart
wrenching ad in the afternoon when most Muslims were in their homes watching
television or on the internet. When he told us the story behind this campaign and
how much work went into it, I was instantly hooked. This is exactly what I want to
do. Work on campaigns, ads, and work with a team that would challenge my
creativity. Manson was great at presenting the information. He gave us tips on how
to get into the PR field. Before Manson joined Ogilvy he worked for Edelman.
Marshall worked in U.S. political campaigns and for several communications firms
also. He is an asset to any company he represents.

Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics have been the answer to many bacterial
infections for the past 70 years (Antibiotic/ Antimicrobial Resistance). Antibiotics are
medicines used to treat infections or diseases caused by bacteria ( What are
Antibiotics? ). Antibiotics were prescribed to cure many diseases. Doctors prescribed
many antibiotics during World War II. World War II was the start of the antibiotic era.
Just when antibiotics were being greatly produced, bacteria started to evolve and
became resistant to these medicines. What is antibiotic resistance? According to the
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Antibiotic resistance occurs
when an antibiotic has lost its ability to effectively control or kill bacterial growth
( General Background ). Improper use of antibiotics causes antibiotic resistance
and has many effects associated with it. People may be drug abusers and this can
cause resistance in the body. Some people will only take antibiotics because they
believe it is the only way they will get better. When a person uses drugs to get rid
of a sickness they may start to overcompensate, but when they do, the drug may
have less of an effect because the body has become so used to the drugs medicine.
That is because the bacteria has found a way to avoid the effects of the antibiotic.
The appropriate use of antibiotics, often called antibiotic stewardship, can help
preserve the effectiveness

My Goals And Steps For Yourself
Having learned that setting goals and steps for yourself is one of the best and
most efficient ways to reach your goals. A while ago, I decided to set my own
academic, career, and leadership goals. I came up with the best three steps that can
be taken to reach those goals. In addition, I analyzed my strengths that can best
assess me get those steps done. This helped boost my self esteem and motivated
me to reach my goals, because I proved to myself that I already have the strengths
needed to take specific steps that would get me closer to my goals. For my
academic goal, I wanted to earn a GPA of 3.80 or higher by the end of the semester.
The three steps I took to achieve this goal are important. First, I turned in all of my
assignments and studied well for any exams or quizzes. Second, I managed to
study for at least 2 hours for almost everyday of the week. This step not only helped
me get step 1 done, but it also increased my ability to learn more material. Third, I
met with professors about once a week for additional help over course material.
Those steps were very successful at helping me reach my academic goal. I was
able to stay on track with all of my classes, manage enough studying time to to

Honor And Glory In The Iliad By Homer
Homer, in his epic poem, The Iliad , develops his theme, honor and glory, through
his main hero Hector. Hector and Achilles both throughout Homers novel were a big
help to their sides and seemed too both display Homers theme, honor and glory, so
there s one question. Who s Homers main hero. Achilles was absent for most of the
last year of the Trojan Warfor personal reasons, which is a big push back for him.
Achillesalso had a lot of help from the gods so we don t know if he would be the
warrior he was without help from the gods. And finally Hector was not afraid of
anything and he was willing to give his life for his country. After lots of study on

honorable death. Homer states that Achilles s armor and weapons were created by
the god Vulcan. Achilles might not have defeated Hector without his powerful

My Interest in a Career at Sea
I have always been interested in the sea, in particularly the merchant navy and have
spent a lot of time on the water. I live near two busy port towns and have always had
an interest in the ships coming and leaving the harbour. When I started looking into
future career opportunities, this was always the career path I wanted to pursue. It is
exciting, unique and no two days are the same.
My interest in a career at sea really kicked off after joining the school sailing club,
where I achieved RYA level 1 and 2 in dinghy sailing
. Eager to learn more, I joined a
sailing club in Chichester Harbour. I now enjoy social sailing and club racing. At
the age of 15 I completed my RYA Power Boat Level 2, Safety Boat and First Aid
qualifications and at 16 achieved a RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification to teach on
coastal waters.
I was a member of the 5th Chichester Scout group starting from Beavers, to Scouts,
working up through all the ranks. It was a great experience which helped me to build
lasting friendships; to get outdoors and to learn people skills. I spent some
memorable times hiking on the South Downs, learning to plan routes, map reading
and working in teams.
As a member of the junior dinghy instructor team at Dell Quay Sailing club, I
volunteer my time to teach sailing and to support the junior race series, either by
helming a safety boat or as an assistant race officer. Each summer, the club runs a
junior week where the junior instructors are encouraged too take the lead.

There are many different accidents that may occur that law enforcement may
encounter on a day to day bases. Officers must know how to react to these calls in
order to effective communicate with others. Effective communication will allow an
officer the know how to specifically get the help that he needs in order to complete
the task with the correct tools. The police officer needs to be able to communicate

Communication is vital between the police and the fireman because there may be
others is involved that could be injured or could become injured (Criminal Procedure,
2008).
The police have many protocols for many different situations. Many police
departments have procedures that are followed for an auto accident. First the
responding police officer will check the area for anyone that is injured and
communicate the information by radio to another officer. Normally the dispatcher,
who is communicating with additional officers, relays the information that he
receives from the responding officer. The officer must communicate with the
drivers at take statements, so that the officer will record each driver s version of
how the accident occurred into a police report. Sometimes an additional officer that
is present may be used to help with the questioning in order to determine if any
drugs or alcohol were used. The report may have diagrams of the accident, which
may help determine who was at fault. The officer then may have photographs, and
roadway conditions. After this the final police report will be compiled with all of the
statements and additional information that was gathered. The report will provide
information on who was at fault. During any investigation the police must have
probable cause to make an arrest. However, the police at times must obtain an arrest
warrant in order to acquire more evidence to support their suspicions. Communication

Gandhi And Osama Comparison
When one thinks of Mahatma Gandhi and Osama bin Laden, they might think of
two people who would be considered polar opposites. By just scratching the
surface of the history of these two historical figures, it may appear that they are
completely different from each other. But, digging deeper shows that Mahatma
and Osama have more in common than anyone could have imagined. Both Gandhi
and bin Laden inspired people to follow them in their movements against their
opposition and were powerful enough to be noticed worldwide. Their early adult
lives both contained incidents of rejection and failure that shaped them into the
people that they became. However, many people believe these two were very
contrasting in their methods of protest, one violent and the other peaceful. Despite
popular belief, Gandhi and bin Laden are more alike than most people realize.
Early in their adulthood, Osama and Gandhi both experienced discrimination and
rejection in their pursuits. Mahatma moved to South Africa in his twenties to
practice law and work at a firm. Gandhi was appalled by the discrimination he
experienced as an Indian immigrant in South Africa. (History.com Staff). He was
once thrown out of a first class railway train for refusing to give up his seat for a
European passenger, which inspired him, along with other events, to begin to
develop and teach the concept of passive resistance. He went on to return to India
and led a peaceful rebellion of British rule over India. Osama was also treated
unfairly early on in his life and had to overcome several obstacles. He was kicked
out of his birth country, Saudi Arabia, because of his affiliation with Afghans and his
remarks complaining about the U.S influence on Saudi Arabia s oil business. They
tried to silence him and eventually banned him, so he lived in exile in Sudan (
Osama bin Laden). This strengthened his resent for Western influence on the
Middle East and had a tremendous impact on the creation of Al Qaeda. He moved
around the Middle East, living in several different areas, trying to find himself and
figure out what he was going to do with his life. These impactful events in the two
young men s lives were key factors later on in life and inspired them to

Essay On Melanoma Skin Cancer
Abstract
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the most common
form of cancer in the United States is melanoma skin cancer (2014). It is crucial that
melanoma needs to be detected at an early stage to improve survival rates. There are
current techniques such as a dermatoscopy that can help the physician to make a
diagnosis, but it remains difficult and the need of new techniques or tools is required
to improve the physician s diagnostic abilities. According to cancer statistics, the
incidence of melanoma has doubles and been increasing steadily in recent decades

Cell Phone Use And Inattentional Blindness
Cell phones have become increasingly prevalent in modern life. At the same time,
they bring the possibility of many distractions. These types of distractions can be
potentially dangerous and even deadly (i.e. texting and driving) and can lead to
experiencing inattentional blindness (failure to see unexpected/unusual stimulus in
plain sight). Text messaging has been found to affect a person s natural walk
(Lamberg Muratori , 2012), showing that they can be very inhibiting for a
pedestrian. Thus, cell phone use while crossing the street could be very dangerous
because of not noticing surroundings (cars, people, etc.), traffic cues (stop lights,
signs, etc.), and the possibility of walking off the designated path such as a cross
walk. Although there have been studies looking at cell phone use and the effects of
it on attention, they mostly focus on how it has impacted drivers and pedestrians as
a whole, without differentiating types of people it could potentially effect. Having
information on the type of person to experience inattentional blindness because of
cell phone use could lead to better ways in improving people s overall safety and
awareness and decrease the amount of vehicle related deaths. Cell phone use has been
shown to be positively correlated with inattentional blindness. Schwebel et al. (2012),
discovered that pedestrians who are distracted by their phone through either texting
or music did not look at the street environment while waiting to cross the

The musical talent was embedded into Mr. Santana from a very young age. He was
born in AutlГЎn de Navarro, Mexico, in 1947 to Jose Santana and Josefina
Barrangan. His musical ability stemmed from his overwhelming exposure to
mariachi, also known as folk music from Mexico. Because of his father, whom
happened to be a professional violinist, he had the violin mastered by age five and
by the age of eight, fully embraced the guitar. As he would continue gaining skills,
his family would continue moving from place to place to find work for his father.
In one location known as Tijuana, Santana used inspirations such as B.B. King,
Ray Charles, and Little Richard while playing American rock and roll with a blues
flare for local strip clubs. Finally, the move to San Francisco brought work to not
only his father but teenage Carlos. Great opportunities sprung up in San Francisco
for the ambitious teen. As his musical ability flourished he was quick to become
recognised by colleges such as California State University and Humboldt State
University but as most musicians do, he opted out of college to focus on his music.
With the inspiration of finally being able to witness his idol, B.B King, Carlos Santana
decided to work jobs bussing in restaurants, save of every penny, and spark the
journey to becoming a full time musician. Interestingly enough, his debut moment
was brought upon this world completely by accident. Santana was a frequent

Causes of Mexico s balance of payments difficulties prior to Peso devaluation
With the large capital surplus largely arising from foreign investments to support the
huge trade deficits in the Mexican current account, all seemed to go well for the
Mexican economy until several political crises erupted and several macroeconomics
mistakes were left exposed in 1994 which affected foreign investor s confidence.
The year 1994 marks the final year of Carlos Salinas de Gotari s administration in
Mexico. In order to boost the popularity of the party in hope of garnering more
votes, Salinas went a high spending splurge which led to high deficits. Mexico s
trade deficit further deteriorated due to trade liberalization through the participation
in North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1992, Organisation for
Economic Co operation and Development (OECD) and World Trade Agreement
(WTA) in 1994. Fuelled by the overvalued peso and trade liberalization, Mexico was
importing at a rate much faster than it could, leading to rising trade deficits. Along
with the large spending incurred by the Salinas administration, the Mexican economy
was further burdened by the excessive consumer spending due to the overvaluation
of the peso. The peso was left unchecked as devaluation of the peso would weaken
the Mexican citizens buying power, causing displeasure and thus risking
Why It Is Important To Become An Organ Donor
Organ donation: a person with healthy organs and tissues allows for them to be
transplanted to those in need, usually after death. Being an organ donor can be as
simple as filling out an information card on the back of your driver s license. It is
easy to do and is a very selfless and caring thing to commit to. Organdonation is a
simple, yet amazing act.
Every day, people in need of vital organs die due to lung failure, heart failure, liver
failure, kidney failure, and other illnesses. In fact, over 120,000 people in the
United States are in need of vital organ transplants. Every day twenty two people on
that list die. Every ten minutes, another person is added to the list. Each year there
are more than one million people waiting for life improving tissues and eyes.
These are not just numbers; they are people who are waiting to receive what is
basically life or death. This sounds like a very large amount of people, but there is
hope. A single... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cause of death is actually what determines if organ donation is an option. Most
people who actually become organ donors suffer fatal head injuries, either from
something like a car accident or a brain aneurysm or stroke. After the person is
admitted to the hospital, if nothing else can be done to save him or her, organ
donation is finally brought into the picture. After death has occurred an examination
of the potential donor s physical and historical status is conducted. In this
examination, a physician examines the current physical state of the potential donor.
For example, if the individual s cause of death damaged certain organs, then those
organs would be ruled out. The medical history of the potential donor is also
examined. For example, the individual being a smoker would determine them
ineligible. If everything checks out the potential recipients are examined to determine
if the operation can be

The first definition mentions external environment to adapt. The second one declares

definitions, the fullest meaning about workforce flexibility and its advantages will be

3. Model explanation: Figure 1 Atkinson model workforce flexibility
To reflect the workforce flexibility, Atkinson (1894) came up with the model which
also comprises ways in which flexibility can be shown. Flexibility can be seen on
part time jobs. This is applied for many employees being students at school in both
Vietnam and other countries. This kind of employee need time for studying and still
consider them to be able to contribute to labor force for extra money. Part time job
is one of the choices when employers only have to spend fewer hours compared to
full time jobs of working (Dutta, n.d). Or employees can seek for job sharing
workplace in which 2 people share the same job/task. Job sharing is basically a form
of part time work that provides staff with the equivalent of one full time employee
while giving the job sharing employees the ability to keep their careers on track
while allowing more time for family responsibilities or other activities (Entrepreneur,
n.d). Working under these kinds of jobs gives employees enough time to balance all
their commitments. In other words,

revealing the areas of profitability.
Table 1.1.1: fFinancial aAccounting versus Ccost Accounting
Despite the above differences, both financial and cost accounting work in
agreement and provide the desired data to the organisations. Determination of value
of stock and cost of goods sold is done in cost accounting. This value of stock and
cost of goods sold is used for determining the gross profit, which is a part of financial
accounts. In addition, a financial accountant receives a lot of data from a cost
accountant for the preparation of financial reports. Thus, despite of the differences,
both cost accounting and financial accounting facilitate each other in meeting the
overall goal of the organisation.

congregates at the overwintering sites in Mexico. The idea that monarch butterflies
exhibited migratory behavior was once controversial, it was not until Fred Urquhart
and his colleagues pioneered a tagging work with the eastern North American
population for decades that revealed the long distance of the monarch migration. The
tagging efforts that began in 1937 lead to the discovery of their overwintering sites in
Mexico in 1975. With its long distance traveled and the nature of the predictable and
the repetitive nature of its annual migration. The ... Show more content on

Environmental factors such as the decrease in day length, cooler temperature and
aging milkweed trigger the monarch to begin its migration, although the precise
environmental trigger that initiates migration is not well understood. When spring
arrives, they become reproductively active, mate and leave Mexico to re migrate
north. During the remigration northward the females lay fertilized eggs on newly
emerged milkweeds in the southern parts of the United States (Reppert and others
2010). Their offspring s will also continue the migration up northward to repopulate
the northern section of the monarch habitat range. Even though the monarch
migration is repetitive and cyclic in nature, their migration cycle is multigenerational.
It takes about two generations of spring and summer butterflies that are following the
progressive northward emergence of milkweeds to repopulate the entire range and
therefore completing the migration cycle (Reppert and others 2010).
Time Compensated Sun Compass (The Navigational process)
The Monarch butterfly uses a map and a compass like other long distance migrants.
The map sense is needed to determine which direction they are to fly and to stop. The
compass sense is utilized so that the migrants can orient in the southern direction
throughout the course of their migration. It has been shown that the monarch may
not have a true map sense, although the monarch
PerГіn experimentГі problemas no solamente
Show more content on

InspirГі sentimientos socialistas en Eva, y la idea de que se deberГa usar fe para dar
esperanza.
Al llegar a Argentina, Eva contГі a su marido sus ideas. PerГіn experimentaba
dificultades porque, tras crecer con ideas derechistas, el socialismo de Eva cambiaba
su mente. Con su ayuda, estableciГі la FundaciГіn Eva PerГіn. La FundaciГіn fue
AdemГЎs, las
Literary Analysis Of The Poisonwood Bible
Michela Murray Miss Keister AP English Literature 22 August 2014 The
Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, literary analysis In The Poisonwood
Bible, symbolism is widely explored to allude to and explore ideas in a nonliteral
sense, Methuselah, a parrot left behind and adopted by the Price family, is an
example of this. Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the Congo is
examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows
little about the world of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for
himself, and when Nathan releases him as a consequence for his foul language, he
is oblivious to the behavior a wild parrot should exhibit. He remains near the house
even after being released, still dependant on the Price family for food and shelter.
This shows that through years of being cared for, the parrot lost its instincts to fend
for itself leaving it open to attack and abuse, in comparison to the Congo, who under
Belgian control lost the political and economic stability to stand on its own without
Belgium to take control over it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that the Congo was now to be seen as prey, much like Methuselah was
seen as by the civet cat. However, through Methuselah s death, the novel expresses
that he is finally free: Set upon by the civet cat, the spy, the eye, the hunger of a
superior need, Methuselah is free of his captivity at last. This shows that Methuselah
would never truly experience freedom within the course of his life, as his upbringing
prevents it. Through complete conquering through a superior nation, would the
Congo achieve freedom of captivity too? Not without giving up its own
No Resources Left And Be On The Verge Of Dying By Pat
Frank
Think about what it would be like to have no resources left and be on the verge of
dying. In Pat Frank s, Alas Babylon this question is asked over and over. One never
truly knows when one is going to have to prepare for the worst, but in this book the
main character gets a hint that it is coming before it actually comes. Randy Bragg
is a fortunate man, he has never had to struggle for what he wants, causing him to
drink and be a carefree person, but this changed with one telegram. Randy is a
person who would not survive in a time of crisis and needof survival, or so one thinks
at the beginning of AlasBabylon. Randy was prepared for what was to come and he
knew what he needed to do in order to survive. One of the main things that kept
Randy alive was the people he surrounded himself with; he knew who he needed
and each of their talents. Randy was a selfless person and knew he could not fight
for his life alone; he was in need of the people around him. Some people will do
whatever it takes to survive, using all of their resources. While others cannot
handle the change, they believe there is no use in living anymore in times of crisis.
Each person deals with a time of crisis differently, but survival is or should be
everyone s main goal. In a time of crisis, one can see the true character of the people
around them and the worth of each person.
After reading Alas Babylon one notices how much we need to survive. Once you
notice what one needs to survive, one has to know how

  • 2. Case Study Of Airbnb 1.Introduction The current cultural tourism industry resembles a corporate battlefield with intense competition ranging from existing players to new entrants. The primary weakness of WTS Travel and Tourism Private Limited (WTS Travel) lies with not keeping up with the technological progress in the cultural tourism industry, its online booking services competitors like Expedia have already captured a large portion of the cultural tourism industry. Therefore, to thrive in this disruptive nature of the new economy, WTS Travel must tap on is the rising use of Airbnb (Goldman Sachs, 2016). Airbnb is a rapidly expanding peer to peer marketplace and homestay where homeowners can rent out their local homes to travelers. With Airbnb, users can better understand the local culture by staying in a native s house and exploring the heartlands as a local (Varma et al , 2016). Additionally, Airbnb s homes are not only cheaper but also deliver quality cultural experiences. Airbnb prices are largely lower than conventional accommodations like hotels (Guttentag, 2015 ; Olson et al, 2016; Varma et al , 2016 ). Furthermore, only Airbnb accommodations with high ratings and great reviews will be selected for WTS X Airbnb packages because potential customers also look for accommodations with higher review ratings rather than simply looking at the price (Varma et al , 2016). By doing so, it will cater to this specialized segment looking for local experience away from commercialized areas. Airbnb is also crafting an app, Magical Trips (Appendix B) which acts like a personal tour guide recommending travelers cultural places, historical trails and explaining history of cultural locations. This could replace tour guides for F E travellers. Para 4 :
  • 3. Comparing Pilgrims And Puritans In Early America Pilgrims and Puritans by Victor. B Lane The major difference between pilgrims and puritans is mostly in definition and not necessarily type. Both stem from the same beginning which was a deliberate response to the failing religious state of a young England. Protestantism was a difficult religion to fare during the reign of King Henry VIII. Mostly because the king was a committed Catholic. When he replaced Pope Clement VII as head of the Catholic Church it became pure treason and doubly, heresy, to defy Catholicism (Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America). During this time the Protestants stayed quiet and hidden until King Henry s radical Protestant son Edward VI took the throne. However, this heyday for the Protestants was cut ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Couple this with the fact that the Separatists had no less a religious purpose than the non separating Puritans who followed them and the name Pilgrims loses all meaning. So Separatists they were, and Separatists they will be here. (Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America) These Pilgrims first set sail for Holland where they sought safe refuge to pursue their religious undertakings. This did not remain as a lasting settlement for several reasons. Not being Dutch it was hard for the Pilgrims to find work. Doubly, the Pilgrim parents feared their children were losing their faith and religion (National Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims). Even moreso, there was the danger that Puritan children were being exposed to the licentiousness of dutch youth (pg. 27 Schweikart and Allen A Patriots History of the United States). A needed break came a while later when the Pilgrims received assurances from the King that they could exercise their religious views freely in the new world (pg. 27 Schweikart and Allen A Patriots History of the United
  • 4. Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written by Chuck Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so popular. Klosterman writes that rise of popularity of zombies is different than that of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially created as representations of fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains that zombies could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an allegory for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman highlights this fact to be why zombies have risen to such high popularity. Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in zombies has grown so much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such intrigue in zombies is their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies to many real life activities, like going through a weekends worth of emails on Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can get from the internet, the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are very similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. His examples were strong proof of his concepts and did not detract from the overall article. Klosterman s transitions were subtle, but were good enough to keep a consistent flow throughout the article. The only time that I felt the article was lacking in direction was the very last part. It highlighted the prepetition of people against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a bad article, just something that I felt was out of
  • 5. Elizabeth s Soft Nature Of The Perfect Woman Elizabeth s soft nature conveys the epitome of the perfect woman during the early to mid nineteenth century. The readers are introduced to Elizabeth primarily through her looks. In Frankenstein, others are compared to Elizabeth s beauty as her fairness attracts attention from the hardy little vagrants surrounding her (Shelley 32). The other children are described as vagrants, homeless wanderers, while Elizabeth embodies an angelic nature. The juxtaposition of her light, fair appearance among the dark, poor other children attracted the attention of Caroline Frankenstein, leading to her safety from poverty and entrance into a higher social status. Elizabeth, the perfect woman, lacked the hardy and tough nature of the other children, and belonged in a higher social class. As Elizabeth expands her education she partakes in the traditional education of a woman during the Romanticist era as she busied herself with following the aerial creations of the poets; and in the majestic and wondrous scenes (Shelley 35). While Victor discovers natural laws and science, Elizabeth educates herself in her beautiful surroundings of nature. Her knowledge is grounded in the whimsical flights of poets during Shelley s contemporary and immensely more carefree and naГЇve than that of her male counterpart. Furthermore she symbolizes the most naГЇve force love to balance Victor s determination and curiosity as she was the living spirit of love to soften and attract (Shelley 37).
  • 6. Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased after we watched his beloved Vertigo in my class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my favorite Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San Francisco detective forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop acrophobia. He soon takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance from college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I think this is his best performance I ve seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his motivations and feelings for the first portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he becomes genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her during that first part of the movie that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn,

  • 9. Similarities Between Scarlet Begonias And Fire On The... Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain Essay Michael Peller has been a fan of the Grateful Dead for as long as he can remember. As a child, he listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college student, he attended live performances. The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. The movement gained speed alongside the civil rights movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead embraced these new beliefs in their songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam genre, which is based off of live improvisation. However, the parts of the song that most affected Mike Peller were the allusions to and imagery of the 70s. The song s story follows a young man, walking around the local square, who is entranced by a young woman with scarlet begonias tucked into her curls (Grateful Dead). She also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of how the image reminds him of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being carefree. Mike doesn t have much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he does love the rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be meaningful in ways related to Mike s enjoyment of the song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is repeated throughout the song, and almost sounds like an urgent call for help. Despite this, the beat and music rolls on. The song pokes fun at a long distance runner who continues to make and dance to music even as a dragon with matches is loose on the town . But when fans dance to the music live at a concert, the lyrics take on a different meaning: on how even as everything is burning down, the fans keep dancing and the Grateful Dead keeps
  • 10. Essay On Hoover Dam The Hoover Dam is legendary. Having visited and stood on it s bridge many times, there is no way to describe the incredible power that one feels just setting foot near the place. In 1922, the Reclamation Service presented a report calling for the development of a dam on the Colorado River for flood control and electric power generation. Even before Congress approved the Boulder Canyon Project, the Bureau of Reclamation was considering what kind of damshould be used. Officials eventually decided on a massive concrete arch gravity dam, the design of which was overseen by the Bureau s chief design engineer John L. Savage. Construction of Hoover Dambegan in 1931, and the last concrete was poured in 1935, two years ahead of schedule. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the dam on September 30, 1935. The power plant structures were completed in 1936, and the first generator began commercial operation in October of that year. The vital statistics describing Hoover Dam and its benefits are quite impressive on paper, but having visited the location and lived in areas of the country who benefit from the dam, the overwhelming size and impact of the project is made real. The dam is thick at the bottom and thin near the top, and would present a convex face towards the water above the dam. The curving arch of the dam would transmit the water s force into the
  • 11. Examples Of Paradox Of Sight In Oedipus Rex Oedipus Paper Sophocles tragedy, Oedipus the King, tells the story of the leader of Thebes who unknowingly kills his father, takes his place as king, and marries the queen, who is his mother. In Sophocles tragedy, the paradox of sight as in seeing the truth, and prophecy and blindness in terms of not seeing and not accepting truth and trying to evade prophecy is present throughout the play. A paradox is a statement or proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth (dictionary.com). At this point in the play Tiresias has been brought to Oedipus to answer his questions about the murder of King Laius. Tiresias tries to reason with Oedipus, telling him that the truth is a burden and he is better off not knowing the truth of the life he is living. Tiresias first says How terrible to see the truth when the truth is only pain to him who sees! I knew it well (Sophocles 359 361). The use of the word see instead of the word to know in itself already is contradictory. Although Tiresias cannot physically see, he is not blind to the truth of Oedipus life and he knows the pain that Oedipus would face if he knew the truth. Tiresias also says that he can see by saying that he knows it well which refers to the burdens that come along with knowing the truth of things. Although in this quote it is said Tiresias can see, it refers to his knowledge of truth giving his the ability to see despite his physical blindness. While all of this shows Tiresias sight despite his blindness, it also shows Oedipus
  • 12. Why I Want to Study Medicine The sun exploded into a million shades of orange. I sat, friends at each side, atop a monstrous pile of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National Park, and saw a glimpse of myself. Love filled my soul; love of people, love of family. The backcountry has always helped me find this love; it has been my personal northstar, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started backpacking at 13, trekking across the winter harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling warmed my numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to my friends, fostering the teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy; eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping others. This is how the backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would be based on these lessons. When I was in high school, I had no inkling of where I was going, but I tested the waters. I volunteered at the Mrs. Tewillegar Wildlife Foundation and did a rotation observing anesthesiologists in San Francisco. I was a green advocate and spent much of my time reading about and debating the travesties visited upon the environment. In my young explorations I found that medicine and environmental politics peaked my interest. In my first semester at Pitzer College, I started to study
  • 13. Essay about Success and Failure in the US-Mexico War on... Illegal narcotic drugs represent a $60 billion market in the U.S., and this year alone the State and Federal governments will each spend roughly $20 billion in attempting to stifle this market. The amount of money involved in the drug trade, substantially inflated due to prohibition, makes both systemic corruption and violence inevitable. The illegal drug trade is a sophisticated international network, and while no nation s involvement is limited to one economic function, one relationship is crystal clear: Mexico serves as a high volume channel of drugsinto the United States, and drug traffickers will go to great lengthsto continue serving the American consumers as long as their demand exists. This paper examines the nature of the illegal drug market, the obstacles faced by the US and Mexico in their war on drugs, as well as the current developments and a proposed alternative to the allegedly futile and misguided effort. BACKGROUND Over the past decade, Mexican drug organizations secured a prominent position in the cocaine market that was formerly dominated by Colombian drug cartels, and opened the doors for Mexican groups to dominate the drug trafficking market. According to a Drug Intelligence Brief by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Mexico continues to be the principal transit route for cocaine available in the United States an estimated 70 percent of the cocaine entering the United States is smuggled across the U.S. Southwest border.[3] Mexico is also a source country for heroin, marijuana, and methamphetamine available in the United States, as well as various pharmaceutical drugs. Drug production and trafficking, as well as the laundering of drug proceeds, is currently controlled by powerful and well organized Mexican organizations. A major trafficking group might contain 200 or more members in the Mexico base, with hundreds of additional members throughout the organization s network. Not surprisingly, the most prominent trafficking organizations, such as the Arrellano Felix cartel, control the drug trade across broad tracts

Alaina Thomas English Comp. 2 Professor Sheets 3/2/2016 Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics have been the answer to many bacterial infections for the past 70 years (Antibiotic/ Antimicrobial Resistance). Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections or diseases caused by bacteria ( What are Antibiotics? ). Antibiotics were prescribed to cure many diseases. Doctors prescribed many antibiotics during World War II. World War II was the start of the antibiotic era. Just when antibiotics were being greatly produced, bacteria started to evolve and became resistant to these medicines. What is antibiotic resistance? According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Antibiotic resistance occurs when an antibiotic has lost its ability to effectively control or kill bacterial growth ( General Background ). Improper use of antibiotics causes antibiotic resistance and has many effects associated with it. People may be drug abusers and this can cause resistance in the body. Some people will only take antibiotics because they believe it is the only way they will get better. When a person uses drugs to get rid of a sickness they may start to overcompensate, but when they do, the drug may have less of an effect because the body has become so used to the drugs medicine. That is because the bacteria has found a way to avoid the effects of the antibiotic. The appropriate use of antibiotics, often called antibiotic stewardship, can help preserve the effectiveness

My interest in a career at sea really kicked off after joining the school sailing club, where I achieved RYA level 1 and 2 in dinghy sailing . Eager to learn more, I joined a sailing club in Chichester Harbour. I now enjoy social sailing and club racing. At the age of 15 I completed my RYA Power Boat Level 2, Safety Boat and First Aid qualifications and at 16 achieved a RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification to teach on coastal waters. I was a member of the 5th Chichester Scout group starting from Beavers, to Scouts, working up through all the ranks. Both Gandhi and bin Laden inspired people to follow them in their movements against their opposition and were powerful enough to be noticed worldwide. Their early adult lives both contained incidents of rejection and failure that shaped them into the people that they became. However, many people believe these two were very contrasting in their methods of protest, one violent and the other peaceful. Despite popular belief, Gandhi and bin Laden are more alike than most people realize. Early in their adulthood, Osama and Gandhi both experienced discrimination and rejection in their pursuits. These types of distractions can be potentially dangerous and even deadly (i.e. texting and driving) and can lead to experiencing inattentional blindness (failure to see unexpected/unusual stimulus in plain sight). Text messaging has been found to affect a person s natural walk (Lamberg Muratori , 2012), showing that they can be very inhibiting for a pedestrian. Determination of value of stock and cost of goods sold is done in cost accounting. This value of stock and cost of goods sold is used for determining the gross profit, which is a part of financial accounts. In addition, a financial accountant receives a lot of data from a cost accountant for the preparation of financial reports. Thus, despite of the differences, both cost accounting and financial accounting facilitate each other in meeting the overall goal of the organisation. (v)General Principles 1. Cause Effect
  • 39. The Monarch Butterfly Annual Migration Introduction The monarch butterfly annual migration is a visually spectacular feat, in terms of the number of butterflies flying to their overwintering sites and as well as the masses that congregates at the overwintering sites in Mexico. The idea that monarch butterflies exhibited migratory behavior was once controversial, it was not until Fred Urquhart and his colleagues pioneered a tagging work with the eastern North American population for decades that revealed the long distance of the monarch migration. The tagging efforts that began in 1937 lead to the discovery of their overwintering sites in Mexico in 1975. With its long distance traveled and the nature of the predictable and the repetitive nature of its annual migration. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Environmental factors such as the decrease in day length, cooler temperature and aging milkweed trigger the monarch to begin its migration, although the precise environmental trigger that initiates migration is not well understood. When spring arrives, they become reproductively active, mate and leave Mexico to re migrate north. During the remigration northward the females lay fertilized eggs on newly emerged milkweeds in the southern parts of the United States (Reppert and others 2010). Their offspring s will also continue the migration up northward to repopulate the northern section of the monarch habitat range. Even though the monarch migration is repetitive and cyclic in nature, their migration cycle is multigenerational. It takes about two generations of spring and summer butterflies that are following the progressive northward emergence of milkweeds to repopulate the entire range and therefore completing the migration cycle (Reppert and others 2010). Time Compensated Sun Compass (The Navigational process) The Monarch butterfly uses a map and a compass like other long distance migrants. The map sense is needed to determine which direction they are to fly and to stop. The compass sense is utilized so that the migrants can orient in the southern direction throughout the course of their migration. It has been shown that the monarch may not have a true map sense, although the monarch

Con su ayuda, estableciГі la FundaciГіn Eva PerГіn.

Literary Analysis Of The Poisonwood Bible Michela Murray Miss Keister AP English Literature 22 August 2014 The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, literary analysis In The Poisonwood Bible, symbolism is widely explored to allude to and explore ideas in a nonliteral sense, Methuselah, a parrot left behind and adopted by the Price family, is an example of this. Throughout the novel, his role as a symbol of the Congo is examined. Methuselah, kept in a cage and tended to by its new masters, knows little about the world of freedom. He has very little experience in fending for himself, and when Nathan releases him as a consequence for his foul language, he is oblivious to the behavior a wild parrot should exhibit. He remains near the house even after being released, still dependant on the Price family for food and shelter. This shows that through years of being cared for, the parrot lost its instincts to fend for itself leaving it open to attack and abuse, in comparison to the Congo, who under Belgian control lost the political and economic stability to stand on its own without Belgium to take control over it.... However, through Methuselah s death, the novel expresses that he is finally free: Set upon by the civet cat, the spy, the eye, the hunger of a superior need, Methuselah is free of his captivity at last. This shows that Methuselah would never truly experience freedom within the course of his life, as his upbringing prevents it. Through complete conquering through a superior nation, would the Congo achieve freedom of captivity too? Not without giving up its own
