Literary Context Of King Hezekiah Of Judah
Literary Context
2 Kings 19:15 19 contains various theology on prayer and also about who God is. The passage is
a simple prayer of King Hezekiah of Judah. And this passage is placed right between 2 King 19
which seems to be the middle of the story of King Hezekiah of Judah but this is the pivotal point
of the story. In addition, the passage shows the most critical and difficult state for Hezekiah. He is
cornered in by Sennacherib and there is no way out. 2 Kings 19:1 7 is about prophet Isaiah
encouraging Hezekiah that Judah will not be delivered by the hand of Sennacherib. And 2 Kings
19:20 35 is about the prophecy of Isaiah concerning the Sennacherib (v.20 28) and restoration of
remnants (v.29 v.31) and destruction of Assyrian army by the... Show more content on

This trait is different from the previous kings or any kings after Hezekiah. In addition, there is an
overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and Samaria. However, the northern kingdom
Israel was exiled because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his
covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor
obeyed. Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the
Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up the same
way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah. The author
shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they were in a grievous situation and
cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute
to stop the Assyrians to buy them some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends
up giving all the silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This
surely is not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians. In 2
Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the officials on whom do
you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s alliance to King Egypt. Though they
have made a suzerain vassal relationship with Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the
treaty with Assyria. Instead of trusting in

The Battle of Antietam Essay
Abstract
The Battle of Antietam took place on 17 September 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The battle
was fought between General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia and General McClellan s Army of the
Potomac. Although the battle lasted only 12 hours, it was a significant point of the American Civil
War, as well as the deadliest day in history. Tactically the battle was considered a draw, but the North
claimed strategic victory and President Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing
hundreds of thousands of slaves.

Childhood Nutrition
as well as medical and psychiatric doctors, have concluded that optimal academic potential can only
be achieved when accurate nutritional practices are in play. Malnutrition results from an inadequate
consumption of the essential vitamins and nutrients. Parents and students seem unaware of the
academic devastation caused by having an improper nutrition. Childhood nutrition has been a major
focus for research and study for many years. Educators and doctors have studied the effects of
improper eating habits in children and reported many detrimental changes to academic ability that
occur as a result. Malnourishment causes children to suffer cognitively, physically, and
behaviorally. The effects of undernourishment cause devastating consequences... Show more content

Misbehavior cannot be caused by malnutrition itself. Many different factors contribute to a child s
inappropriate behavior in school. Having an improper nutrient balance is one of those factors.
Many people are unaware of the beneficial and detrimental effects food does have on altering a
child s behavior. Your Mental Health (1998) outlines certain behaviors that can be distorted by
consuming particular nutrients. Frances and First (1998) also discuss the damage behavioral
problems cause to a child s educational performance. Behavior problems are otherwise known as
classroom disruptions. Disruptions within a classroom result in every student s inability to focus
and learn, as well as the teacher s inability to conduct lessons and teach new material. Tanner and
Finn Stevenson (2002) support these findings in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry in an
article entitled Nutrition and Brain Development . Specific nutrients were reported to directly
affect a child s behavior. Stress is placed on the successful usage of food for behavioral disorders,
instead of taking the typical medication route. Children must possess the ability to behave in order
to move forward in life. Misbehavior is neither tolerated in the classroom or

My Experience In My Life
As time went by, it seemed to fly faster and faster. Soon, it was the summer between my
sophomore and junior years and I had an abundance of plans for how to spend my summer. One
event stood out compared to all of the others. It would greatly influence my life and shape my my
thoughts to the way they are today. Reminiscing on the events of my past, my journey to the
glamorous mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexicoto hike for a week is indisputably
the greatest memory of my life so far. Our Boy Scout troop congregated at the Grimes South
Sports Complex at way too early of a time on a Friday morning. Nobody felt tired, however, due
to our excitement for the launch of our trek. We had been preparing for this adventure for over a
year. Our moms took the pictures that are typical of moms, then we left in cars headed for
Kansas City. I was fortunate to be placed in the vehicle that some of my closer friends were in
and we had a blast on the car ride to KC. From there, we boarded a train which would take us to
our destination of Cimarron, New Mexico, the closest form of civilization to Philmont. Travelling
by train was a unique experience. The seats were extremely comfortable and could spin around.
Each seat was situated by a large window that spanned from the ceiling to the floor allowing for a
phenomenal view of the passing scenery. The food on the meal cart was scrumptious. It was
essentially a much more pleasureable plane ride. After about twelve hours, we stumbled

Human Development And Identity Development
In the following essay I will be discussing two particular aspects of human development and
behavior; personality and identity. I will then demonstrate an understanding of two psychological
theories which can help understand influences on personality and identity development. Finally, I
will look into further detail at Holmes and Rahe and identity two life events which I can relate to
the case study and the impact it s had on the individual. There has been an ongoing debate within
society for a long time over the influences of nature vs nurture and which one has the more
influential factor on behavior and development. It is a clear fact that Human development and
behavior is a complex interrelationship between nature and nurture. Nature relates to the genes in
which we inherit from our parents, it mainly focuses on genetics and hereditary characteristics, such
as eye colour, hair colour, or inheriting illnesses. Nature can also be referred to as the genotype.
Nurture relates to social circumstances, such as our upbringing and lifestyle. It looks at the
interaction between our genotype and environment. Another term for nurture is known as the
phenotype. An example of nature vs nurture can be a person who has developed a hereditary
diabetes from their parents. Although this has been passed on through the influence of nature we
can still use our nurture side to influence change, such as changing diet and lifestyle habits to
counteract the diabetes. Looking further into

Demise of Macbeth Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is the tragic tale of a virtuous
man, corrupted by his power and greed. In the play Macbeth, we see that when the motivation to
succeed in life becomes overpowering, one may decide on wrongful actions to achieve a goal.
Many facts play an important role in deciding his ill fated future but the major influence on Macbeth
s actions are of the witches and their prophecies as they were easily able to control his mind,

After Macbeth grows more sinful and overpowered with greed he does not make any real
attempt to change. Macbeth creates his own misery when he is driven by this own sense of
guilt. This causes him to become insecure as to the reasons for his actions, which cause him to
commit more murders. Macbeth s malice and deceptiveness are shown further in the play when
he becomes so obsessed with the witches prophesies to his friend, Banquo, that he decides to hire
two men to kill him and his son as he feared they would cause hazard in this future plan. Later in
the play, Macbeth s own ruthlessness begins to trouble him as he suffers from loss of appetite,
nightmares about people he murdered and troubled sleep, in other words he goes

Sonnet 60 Metrical Devices
As opposed to the majority of Shakespeare s sonnets in the series that are addressed to an
unnamed young man, sonnet 60 deals largely with the relentless approach of time and its war
against humanity rather than love. In this sonnet, the breaking of the poetic form expected of a
sonnet is utilized to not only enhance the specific localized metaphors in the poem, but the overall
thematic content as well. By taking the traditional iambic pentameter and presenting moments of
disruption, this poem draws attention to the dramatization of Time s march against humanity, and
also to the ability of the writer of this poem who appears in the final couplet. In this paper, I
intend to look specifically at the utilization of trochaic feet in order to examine the ways in which
the manipulation of metrical devices can create meaning. The first quatrain is already rife with
metrical irregularities and each one serves to both mimic and enhance the content of the lines. The
first two lines of the sonnet, Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore, // So do our
minutes hasten to their end draw an explicit comparison between the crashing waves beating
against the shore and the approach of the end of one s time (1 2). Rather than the traditional
unstressed, stressed pattern of iambic pentameter, Like as... and So do... are trochaic feet, meaning
that the form is inverted to stressed, unstressed syllables. By beginning these lines in the same way,
the meter serves to draw an even further

Home Is Tony Morrison s Fictional Account Of A Korean War
Home is Tony Morrison s fictional account of a Korean War veteran s experiences after returning
to America. The veteran, Frank Money, faces particular challenges because he is a black man in
1950s America. Frank is attempting to return to his home state of Georgia in order to save his
little sister, Cee, from danger. Along the way he faces the pitfalls of being a black man and a
veteran. By writing from multiple perspectives, Morrison is able to compare Frank s experience to
that of other black peoplein America, especially Cee s. By the end of the novel, Frank and Cee
have experienced an arc of redemption and self realization. Home displays the dual trauma
experienced from American war and racism. The comparison of Cee s story with Frank s solidifies
the trauma of both their situations. Frank deals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
caused by watching his friends die and killing a young Korean girl. With PTSD come alcoholism,
unemployment, and homelessness. This is typical of the awful experiences we know veterans go
through. Simultaneously, Frank faces racism upon his return home and throughout his travels. He
needs to know specific black friendly homes and businesses in order to have ways to eat, stay, and
move across the country, otherwise facing persecution from white peoplehe encounters. Often,
Frank can t even avoid racist violence, such as when he was pulled into a fight with a man in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cee experiences just as many traumatic events as

Molecular And Biochemical Genetic Studies On Rice...
Title: Molecular and Biochemical Genetic Studies on Rice Blast Disease.
1 Summary:
Background: Rice (Oryza sativa, L.) is one of the strategic crops in Egypt, and improvement of its
productivity is an essential requirement to ensure food security. Rice blast is one of the most
important diseases of rice causing an average yield loss of 30 50% annually in rice growing areas
of the world. Many resistant rice cultivars are short lived after deployment because of the highly
variation in Magnaporthe oryzae population, due to a high level of genomic instability of the
pathogen. So that, the rice breeders trying to overcome this problem by developing resistant
varieties by genetic approaches to maintain sustainability of rice production.
Proposed Research: The aim of the current study is to study the rice blast mechanisms at molecular,
biochemical and physiological levels in some rice genotypes.
Methodology: (1) Some selected rice genotypes will be evaluated for blast resistance in seedling
stage under greenhouse condition. (2) Identification of rice blast resistance gene(s) in the
genotypes. (3) Determination of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO)
activities and the malondialdehyde (MDA) content in leaves of tested genotypes before and after
8 days from inoculation date with Pyricularia oryzae. (4) Quantitative real time PCR (qRT PCR)
analysis will be carried out to identify the most responsive rice blast resistance gene(s) in the
genotypes. (5) For

Why Is Lying Wrong
Why is lying bad?

wrong everywhere due to the fact that they can hurt a person or have a very negative impact on
someone. Christian views on this matter include the fact that lying should not take place as it

circumstances where a lie can be good?

Augustine (a famous philosopher)
Augustine believed that some lies could be pardoned and justified, and that there were in fact
occasions when lying would be the right thing to do.
He grouped lies into 8 classes, depending on how difficult it was to pardon them. Here s his list,
with the least forgivable lies at the top:
Lies told in teaching religion
Lies which hurt someone and help nobody
Lies which hurt someone but benefit someone else
Lies told for the pleasure of deceiving someone
Lies told to please others in conversation
Lies which hurt nobody and benefit someone
Lies which hurt nobody and benefit someone by keeping open the possibility of their repentance
Lies which hurt nobody and protect a person from physical defilement
Christian belief
The christian view on lying is the fact that God gave us human beings a gift and that gift is,
communication. We should not abuse this gift by hurting others with our lives depending on
how big or how small. Lies are bad and can really have a bad and heavy impact on one s life. God
gave human beings speech so that they could make their thoughts known to each other; therefore
using speech to deceive people is a sin, because it s using speech to do the opposite of what God

The Battle of Bannockburn happened in 1314 just outside of Stirling, Scotland. It was a war

The Scottish crowned Bruce as king on May 25, 1306, in the Abbey of Scones.
Then, Edward I died in 1307, and Edward II stayed away from Scotland. Bruce, however, wanted
all of the Scottish land back from England. He began to take the land back, and by 1314, the
Scottish held all the castles except five. These five castles included Stirling Castle, which is located
just outside of the town of Bannockburn, Scotland.
In the summer of 1314, Edward Bruce, Robert Bruce s younger brother, began the siege of Stirling
Castle. The English men inside the castle called for help from their country. The men inside the
castle were so desperate to escape, they created the Stirling Castle Agreement. The agreement stated
that if no help came by midsummer, the castle would give way. Robert Bruce was determined to get
Stirling Castle, and he began to prepare an army in case the English sent help. Although the

The battle began on July 24, 1314. The English army traveled for many days to reach Stirling

India s International Monetary System And Classification...
In this system, each country adopts a certain monetary unit with, more or less, fixed par value,
based generally upon its gold content. This par value is made the basis of its exchange rate with
other national standard momentary units, and this announced exchange rate remains stable or

The Floating Rate of Exchange
A country using the floating rate of exchange for its monetary allows its money to be traded in the

Matt Stone and this character also displays a certain amount of stability. Throughout the series
there are accounts of his deep friendship between Stan and Kyle. Since the creators are best

Edward Hopper, An American Realist Painter
Edward Hopper was an American realist painter born in 1882 in New York. After studying art and
many journeys, he had trouble getting famous and put on the art world map. But finally, in 1933, a
first installation is dedicated to him at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. His
works are mainly inspired by his journeys, trips to different places and the solitude of the American
in the twentieth century. Nighthawksis his most famous piece of art (Laura Herail, blog). After
researching and looking at many of his paintings, this artwork portrays sadness and yet it is not
a sad picture. It could be something enticing and yet charming about anonymous diners. The lack
of domesticity offering a relief what can be the full comfort of home. It may be easier to give
away to sadness here than in a cozy living room with wallpaper and framed pictures. Home often
appears to have betrayed Hopper s characters, something has happened there that forces them out
into the night and on to the road. The 24 hour diner is a sanctuary for those who for some reason
or another have failed to find there place in the normal world of relationships or community.
Hopper s ability to portray solitude comes from his own familiarity with it. He lead comfortable
middle class childhood as a son of a merchant, yet inside Hopper often felt a little bit awkward
like an outsider. Hoping for a while to be an artist and yet his parents insisted he trains in
commercial art to keep afloat financially. He hated

Rap And Hip Hop
HIP HOP/RAP
When we think of hip hop do we think of the dance or do we think of the music? More often than
not we think of the music industry when someone says hip hop. however hip hop music was
created with the dance.
Both were created in the 1970 s by the African American and Puerto Rican people in New York.
The music originally incorporated the Rhythms of salsa, Afro conga, bongo drums, jazz and funk
and became more popular outside of the African American community around the 1980 s.
Although some people think of rap/hip hop as vulgar and unnecessary however it has a very

I think the most important thing is to keep an open mind. The great fashion industry has taken
over the hip hop culture and evolved over time. People like Ralph lauren, Calvin Klein, and
Tommy Hilfiger tapped into hip hop culture and gave very little in return. It first consisted of
baggy shirts, sagging pants and jerseys. Then people like Jay Z linked up with brands like louis
vuitton to create their own fashion lines. The clothes got tighter, classically fashionable and
much more expensive. Clothing will always evolve with the dancers and music to fit the style of
that era. Hip Hop dancing has multiple different styles that can be put together or left alone to
form a unique dance. There is Break, Popping, Locking, Krumping, Freestyle and Novelty. Break
was the first hip hop dance and is classified as one of the five pillars of hip hop culture. It was
created in the 1970 s and made popular by the dance crews. Dance crews were sometimes called B
Boys as in break boys and B Girls as in break girls. It was practiced in both studios and on the
streets. The dance was created in New York and incorporated dances from african and latino

The Performance Of The 2016 Mlb Season
The 2016 MLB season has seen a lot of great teams rise to the occasion and shine like champions,
but only one team will be crowned the champion. We have made it to the final quarter of the
season and some teams are nowhere to be found and other teams seem almost ready for the
postseason. At the half way mark of the season, teams like the San Francisco Giantsand Chicago
Cubs, were the favorites, but that has changed. There are new teams in the race like the
Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Not to mention teams like the
Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals that might not be getting as much attention, but are
definitely in the conversation for favorites to win the World Series. Unfortunately, a lot of teams
have started to decline, maybe because of injuries or simply they haven t been playing as well
as they did in the first half. Teams like the Kansas City Royals were supposed to defend their
title, but inevitability fell short of that and are now in 3rd place in the AL Central with 9.5 GB
of the Cleveland Indians. There have been many storylines and there will probably be more
regarding the rise and fall of teams until we reach the postseason. I think a team to point out is
the Los Angeles Dodgers because ever since the end of the first half of the season, they have been
one of the best team in the majors, without Kershaw. The Los Angeles Dodgers went from 51 40
with 6.5 GB of the San Francisco Giants, who were the best team heading into

A Short Note On The Global Ecology Center
Arch 100 Term Paper.
The Global Ecology Center
Lihao Wang,
May 19
The word sustainable is very popular recent years. Many countries are trying to reduce the carbon
emission. They tried controlling the smoke of the car. They tried controlling the use of the electric
and recycle everything they can use again. However, the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of
buildings is more than either the transportation or industrial sectors. According to US Green
Building Council s research,In 2004, total emissions from residential and commercial buildings
were 2236 million metric tons of CO2, or 39% of total US. Also, buildings consume 70% of the
electricity load in the US.(USGBC) A building called Global Ecology Center reduced 72%
reduction in carbon emissions and 50% in embodied carbon for building materials. Global
Ecology Center is located in Stanford, and it was chosen as an AIA Committee on the
Environment Top Ten Green Project for 2007. The capacity is 10,900 ft2. It completed in March
2004. Global Ecology Center combined with laboratories and offices. It owned by and occupied
by Carnegie Institution of Washington, Corporation.(nonprofit) All told, the GEC achieved a 72
percent savings over a 2001 California Title 24 compliant building, the strictest energy code in
the nation, for a modest capital cost premium paid back between two and five years. In short, this
is a good example for the sustainable buildings and works very well. I visited the building twice

Five Aspects Of The Nine Catholic Social Thought Principles
The Nine Catholic Social Thought Principles The way of life can be broken down into nine
principles govern by the Catholic Social Thought (CST), covering all five aspects of humanity.
The aspects include; social, spiritual, personal, economic and political, all five create a holistic
approach to optimize a sense of humanity for self and the community. The nine principles of
CST are as follows: Dignity of the Human person The first and most important principle is
dignity of the human person as it empowers a foundation to the other eight principles. With
respects to the catholic perspective God created mankind in his own image (genesis 1:27)
meaning everyone in an idea world should have the same significances and respectability
(Byron, 1998). Regardless of any identifying factors, age, intelligence or economic status no one
should be above or below anyone, society should be in harmony and dignifying every human. A
way to achieve this is by using Immanuel Kant s philosophy Always treat people as ends in
themselves, never as means to an end (Kant, Heath Schneewind, 2001). Without dignity there isn
t much of humanity, as we will be all means , used and maltreated. Common Good Common
good falls into the first of the great commandments, Love thy neighbour as thyself (Mark 22:38).
Breaking down this commandment expresses the golden rule conveyed by Hugh Mckay in he s
book, The Good Life, what makes life worth living (Australian Catholic University, 2017a). The
golden rule allows the community to prosper as it works to support everyone, little pieces of
kindness and charity to build a masterpiece called humankind. With building the masterpiece it lets
up a brighter and greater future for generations to come. Subsidiarity Subsidiarity ensures a fair
and just world, giving a voice to important issues, ideas and threats that the impacted people face in
their lives. By giving subsidiarity to the general public it will allow the first principle of the CST, as
it is securing human rights with specific legislation tailored to that community (Carozza, 2003.
Pg.38 40). Having decision making proximal to the impacted people promotes community
flourishment. Subsidiarity can be compressed into a niche

Morrie Monologue
As a kid I always heard the question what s the meaning of life? no one would know the answer but
people always had their own opinion and had found purpose in life. Morrie schwartz had found
purpose in life and learned how to live. Morrie schwartz had ALS a disease that kills people over
time. Once Morrie learned he was dying he wanted to teach the world what it was like. Morrie
teaches us how to live life by teaching us to not feel sorry for ourselves, to accept death, and to be
comfortable with showing emotions.
On the second tuesday Morrie teaches people to not feel sorry for themselves. In the morning
Morrie only gives himself a few minutes to feel sorry for himself then he looks forward to the
good thing for the day and looks forward to the people he will see that day. Mitch, I don t allow
myself any more self pity than that. A little each morning, a few tears, and that s all. (Albom 57).
I feel that people feel sorry for themselves too much and that they should limit that time and look
forward to the good things more often. Every summer I have to go to my dad which is 3 hours
away and I feel self pity because I would like to be here more with my friends, but thats why I look

of let it control their lives but maybe if they can accept it than they could do more things with
their lives. I feel that if I was to die right now than I would be upset with myself with not accepting
it and not doing things that I wanted to because I was too

The Structure and Function of Carbohydrates
The structure and function of carbohydrates A carbohydrate is an organic molecule containing
only Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen with the general formula Cn(H20)n. They are made up of
individual molecules called monomers which are joined together by condensation reactions to
make a longer chain called a polymer. Carbohydrates are categorised in to three main groups;
monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides. Monosaccharides are single sugars and are
sweet tasting soluble substances such as glucose and fructose which are the building blocks for all
carbohydrates. They are used as energy in respiration by being broken down in to carbon dioxide
and water. ATP, an immediate energy source, is released during the glycolysis and the

It is similar to amylopectin but has many more branches which are shorter. This means that it is
extremely compact and hydrolyses very quickly. A final example of a polysaccharide is
cellulose which is the main constituent of plant cell walls. It has adjacent chains of long,
unbranched polymers of glucose which bond together to form micro fibrils. These layers are
orientated in different directions and interwoven providing rigid cell wall with gaps in layers to
provide permeability. The carbohydrate glucose is formed in the light independent reaction
which occurs in the stroma. Carbon dioxide combines with RuBP to form a highly unstable 6
carbon compound which splits in to two glycerate 3 phosphates which is then reduced to form
two trios phosphate. This can either be recycled back to RuBP or go on to synthesise glucose. In
conclusion, carbohydrates are essential for the storage of energy, structural support for example as
the backbone of DNA and are an intermediate in respiration e.g. glyceraldehydes.| | | | | | |

Dei And Colonia Dignidad
As a layman, sects and cults may not seem all that different. Both are marginal groups and do not
conform to society s typical views of religion. Their classification as new religious movements
then are based solely on their staying on the outskirts of the norm . Two groups that I will be
focusing on specifically are Opus Dei and the Colonia Dignidad. Both are seen as extreme and
strict, and I believe they belong to the same group as one another. Opus Dei seeks to return to the
roots of Catholicism and is unhappy with the way the Catholic Church embraces society. Colonia
Dignidad is unhappy with society, too, although they chose to form a new way of life that followed
a few parts of the fundamental goals of their former church. Both... Show more content on

The Causes And Effects Of Animal Abuse In The World
We are living in the world that everybody tries to have a better life. We try to have the
comfortable and convenient life for us. We are watching the circus and using them as the therapy
to release stress and depress. However, we don t know the fact that in order to make the circus
become more complete, they have to take away many animal s freedom. All those things is an
example of animal abuse. Animal abuse is the term that describes all the harmful acts toward
animals which are harmed by people either by intentional or unintentional. Other than our general
understanding of animal abuse, we will go through types of animal abuse, why humanshould care
about it, and what should we do. When people think of animal abuse, they often think of the
video they saw where somebody harms a dog, cat... In fact, animal abuse comes in many forms.
Animal abuse includes eating the animal, circus animal, producing cosmetic from inside the
animal. We eat meat, that s the fact. However, the more the technology grows, the more we seem
to kill the animal in such a violent ways that people always say: If you let all the kids go to the
slaughter house, we will have a whole vegetarian generation. ( Wu Ji Yiang). Circus or aquariums
are also another form of animal abuse. We go there and see all types of animals doing tricks, we
have fun; but to train the animalsto do that, they d have to go through a stage where they are left
starving. Trainers use whips, muzzles, tight collars, electric prods,

Enzymes Lab Report
Introduction
Aim:
To determine the kinetic parameters (Km and Vmax) of the alkaline phosphatase enzyme.
Theory and principles
The enzyme is the most important molecule that is involved in the day to day functioning of the
cell. Enzymes act as biological catalysts, they facilitate slow reactions by lowering the energy
required to activate the reaction. Enzymes do not undergo a permanent change and therefore remain
unchanged at the end of the reaction. Enzymes are highly selective and will only catalyze specific
reactions.
Enzymes are made up from amino acids with side chains (R groups) that have defining
characteristics. The charge carried by specific amino acids is determined by the level of
protonation, which varies with the pH value. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Marie De France Composed A Works Of The French Aquitanian...
From the works of the French Aquitanian and Champagnian troubadours, the framework/ideals of
fin amour grew and spread throughout Europe, reaching the courts of Britain. As the conception of
fin amour became increasingly popular amongst the literature of the aristocracy, writers such as,
Andreas Capellanus wrote of the stages and rules of courtly love. Inspired by this movement in the
culture and literature of court, the poet Marie de Francecomposed a collection of romantic lays. In
the Breton Lays , Marie presents her narratives as a guide for courtly lovers. For, each lay
exhibits the problems, consequences, and rewards that can occur if a lady or knight does/or does
not follow the three principles of fin amour which, as explained by the scholars Jeri S. Guthrie
(1976) and F.R.P Akehurst (1995), include mezura (to have self restraint and patience in love, to
have discretion within an affair), joven (to be spontaneous in love, to woo with grand gestures and
gifts), and cortezia (to follow the moral and societal rules of court).
The first standard of courtly love Marie de France presents within The Breton Lays is mezura.
Through the narratives of Lanval and Yonec , Marie reinforces the importance mezura plays in
maintaining a courtly affair; she shows that being open about a relationship can lead to disaster. In
the story of Lanval , Lanval breaks the principle of mezura by rashly exposing his affair with the
amie to Queen Guinevere. When Guinevere propositions

WesternGeco LLC sued ION Geophysical for infringement of several U.S. patents covering an oil
deposit surveying device. A jury found infringement and no invalidity on all asserted claims and
awarded $93.4 million in lost profits and $12.5 million in reasonable royalties. The lost profits
were, in part, based on the loss of surveying contracts outside of the US. WesternGeco
manufactures the patented device, but does not sell it. Instead, WesternGeco uses it to perform
surveys for oil and gas companies. ION Geophysical, in contrast, sold the patented device to
competitors of WesternGeco. WesternGeco successfully argued that its damages included $90
million of lost profits it would have earned if it had won surveying contracts that were ultimately
awarded to ION s customers for surveying in international waters.
ION appealed the jury verdict, arguing that WesternGeco was not the owner of the asserted patents,
that the trial court made several errors related to its grant of summary judgment of infringement of
one patent claim, and that lost profits were incorrectly awarded for activities outside the U.S.

Prison Recidivism
Abstract
This paper will demonstrate whether the length of prison stay for an inmate effects recidivism.
Determining whether the prison sentence for an inmate will deter the criminal from any criminal
activity or if they will recidivate is a key component to see if a prison sentence keeps a criminal
from engaging in any criminal activity. The paper will discuss whether the longer the prison
sentence will reduce recidivism or if the minimum of a sentence will have a higher recidivism rate.
The research conducted will help determine whether a prison sentence has any effect on the relapse
of criminal offenders. This research could help a judge determine to give the appropriate prison

According to Mitchell, Cochran, Mears, Bales, (2016) state that it is abnormal considering that the
incarceration rate in the United States has increased on a yearly annual basis over the past 40 years,
making the United States the leader in incarceration rates. Even though the targets correlated with
imprisonment incorporate incapacitation of active offenders, retribution, and general deterrence,
the reduction of recidivism account for the critical inducement for the rising use of incarceration in
the United States. Research by Mitchell et al. s (2016) article states that classifying and learning

Art Analysis Of Henri Matisse s The Rose Marble Table
This formal and historical art analysis will define the color, composition, line, and values of the
revolutionary modernist painting The Rose Marble Table (1917) by Henri Matisse. Matisse
utilizes a modernist approach to this painting by presenting a minimalist approach to the
placement of the rose and the table, which presents a very basic color scheme. The strong lines
of the painting define the simplistic presentation of a sculptured object of beauty, which is nestled
in various flora at the fringes of the composition. More so, Matisse s modernist approach defines
the perspective of detachment from social norms, which occurred during the First World War.
Matisse sought to present an internalized vision of beauty that would not allow the horrors of war
to impede his vision of beauty. This internalized view defines the revolutionary focus of Matisse s
work, since he did not allow the enteral issues of the world to influence the subject matter of his
paintings. In essence, a formal and historical analysis of the revolutionary spirit of modernismwill
be examined in Henri Matisse s The Rose Marble Table. In formal terms, Matisse s The Rose
Marble Table is a presented as a two dimensional style of painting in the modernist style of the
early 20th century. The rose marble table at the center of the composition is seen with the top of
the table fully exposed, and the lower base of the table that extends below it. This central
positioning of the table provides a compositional approach that makes the colorful values of the
table come forth in contrast to the dark brown background. More so, the placement of a basket
on the table and few small fruits provides some evidence of depth perception, although they are
also presents in a very two dimensional style. In the background, the black stems of trees and ivy
vines provide a fringe accent to the painting, as ivy covers the base of the table and is seen at the
upper right side of the painting. These organic parts of the painting define a more realistic
presentation of flora, which contrasts the more two dimensional aspects of the rose table at the
center of the painting. This type of compositional arrangement blends the modernist shape of the
table as a

Cloud Computing And The Cloud Essay
INTRODUCTION The definition of the Cloud Computing is broad enough to cover everything
such as web search and photo sharing to social networking etc. Perhaps the key point is simply
that cloud computing resources should be accessible by the customers/end users anytime,
anywhere, and from any platform over internet on pay for use basis. Broadly, the cloud can be
described as on demand computing, fix anyone with a network connection. Access to applications
and data anywhere, anytime from any device is the potential outcome. The cloud refers to wide
area networks, generally the intent from which remote computing resources are shared as shown
in the Fig 1.1. The cloud reduces costs and complexity and provides scalability. The biggest
advantage that the cloud brings is to reduce costs and improve efficiency. An institution can rely
on the pay as you go characteristic of the three pillars of cloud: PaaS and Saas. Ease of
maintenance increase efficiency as the pain of maintaining the software is now shifted to the cloud
service provider. Cloud computing customers do not need to own the physical infrastructure; rather
they use the resources from a third party provider on rental basis. This helps them to avoid huge
effort for the setup of the infrastructure. The End user consumes the resources as a service and pay
only for resources that they consume. Most cloud computing infrastructure consists of

Equality in Sports After winning the 2015 Women s World Cup, the United States Women
National team earned $2 million for winning while the Men s 2014 World Cup Champion
Germany won $35 million. In the 2014 PGA (Professional Golf Association) tour the prize money
total was $340 million and 2015 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tour prize pool was
$61.1 million for winning. (Women s Sports Foundation, 2015) The question many female athletes

As Dave Zirin, said in the article Why I m Done Defending Women s Sports , Every damn
Women s World Cup, every NCAA women s final, every Olympics, women s sports again go on
a media trial that would make the old judges of Salem blush. (Zirin, 2015) This quote goes on,
but the main point is that it is tiring and embarrassing that this is still a topic female athletes
have to deal with. Having to prove that they are good enough to get more media time or equal
pay. These athletes all work hard for the same positions a man plays, even though he doesn t
have to try as hard because there are more opportunities available for him to become a
professional athlete. A male athlete can get paid millions and on top of that get many
sponsorships, unlike female athletes who may get paid $3 7 thousand and if they are lucky they
may get sponsored by big brands like Gatorade, Nike, Monster Milk, or even

Sylvester. Rosa s family moved town to town when she was a baby. Rosa s family moved in with
her mother s mom and dad, when she was little. Rosa s father didn t want to stay in Pine Level,

taught to read by her mother at a young age. Once Rosa was old enough to go to school, she went
to a one room school in Pine Level. The school didn t have many school supplies. Rosa lived 8
miles from school, she could not take the bus, so she walked, 8 miles to, 8 miles back. Once or
twice , Rosa stood up to white boys who were teasing her or her brother. Rosa was very brave as a
child. As you can see, Rosa had tough times when she was a child. Now, lets go to the future and
see what Rosa s adulthood is like!
Rosa, in her later years, refused to drink water from the water fountains that were for blacks, only.

Appearance Nobusuke stood 6 2 and weighted around one hundred fifty five pounds
which was considered to be normal for Japanese men. His dark brown eyes and dark black hair
made him almost look like his father besides the height and how long his hair grew; however, he
maintained that hair by shaving it once in awhile. While he had tried many styles in the past, he
chose to try out the style where one side is shaved while the other is cut. Nobusuke liked the style
so far unlike his other attempts at finding the perfect hairstyle for him. And he also had facial hair,
which was almost maintained to look professional as possible to Weyland Yutani.

Essay about Harry Potter and the Holy Grail
Two of the best things in the world, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Harry Potter, have a
good deal in common. Other than the vast amount of space reserved in my brain for storing quotes
and random facts from these two stories, both tales share many similar objects, plot devices,
character attributes, and themes. Even though Python s Holy Grailis an exact historical
representation of the Arthurian Grail legend, some might argue that the Harry Potter story is more
reflective of the actual ancient texts than the 1974 film. Harry has many things in common with
King Arthur. Both characters were orphans raised with their cousins, and mentored by wise men
with large beards. Neither knew of his importance until it was revealed... Show more content on

Sir Percival, for instance, was at first deemed unworthy of obtaining the Holy Grail due to his
lack of inquiry regarding the wounded Fisher King. (Mahoney, 205) The second rather
important cup in the fourth Harry Potter novel is the Triwizard Cup. This is the Holy Grail of
the Triwizard Tournament, and the object that all of the contestants are seeking. The Triwizard
Cup fits the more traditional, somewhat less educated views of the Holy Grail jeweled, flashy,
made of a precious metal, and quite obviously worth a lot of money. It is interesting to note that
when Harry and Cedric touch it, they are whisked away to the graveyard where Voldemort and
Wormtail are plotting their nefarious deeds. Galahad, after seeing the Holy Grail, is also
whisked away, except he goes to heaven, while Harry ends up getting tortured for a bit, and
barely escapes with his life. The Grail quest of Arthurian legend shares a few thematic similarities
with the quest for the Triwizard Cup. According to the Matthews book, The Grail Tradition, there
were three somewhat successful seekers of the Grail: Galahad, Percival, and Bors. This holds
nicely with the three wizards who are supposed to take part in the Triwizard Tournament. The first
task that Harry must complete consists of somehow thwarting a dragon s attempts to keep him from
stealing its golden egg.

Essay on A poem and a loaded gun
A Poem and a Loaded Gun
The post civil war era was wrought with sexism and backwards thinking. Emily Dickinson was
born in 1830, wrote 1800 poems in her lifetime. She has become known for unfolding the social
boundaries surrounding women in this time period. Most of her life was shrouded in seclusion
and mystery. In the realm of poetry, authors are creative with their usage of literary techniques in
order to illustrate their point of view to the reader. Emily Dickinson is especially known for her
precise diction, powerful imagery, and obscure timing or rhythm. In her poem My life had stood A

The faster pace and constant beats provide for a significant change from the broken up stand still
qualities of the first stanza. The mood portrayed here is that of eventfulness, even usefulness, it is
apparent that the speaker feels more fulfilled or somehow more whole.
Also in the second stanza the author introduces the theme of unity between speaker and master by
use of her diction. Albert Gelpi, anther notable critic of Dickinson s work, points out that already by
the second stanza I and he have become we ...the rhythm and repetition underscoring the
momentous change of identity. By doing this the author introduces the theme of possession vs.
possessed and the inherent contradiction of the concept, referencing the fact that one cannot be
without the other.
The second notable use of interesting diction can be found in the speaker s description of her
smile. She compares her smile to the aftermath of a volcanic eruption. This notable according to
Christine Miller, a notable commentator of Dickinson s work, because she does not compare it to
an event but to a completed action. She says the past perfect verb is more chilling than the present
tense would be. Miller notes this same technique later in the poem when the speaker describes

Rhetorical Analysis Of Violent Media Is Good For Kids

A Rhetorical Analysis of Violent Media is Good for Kids
From early childhood, parents, teachers, and other adults instill in us that violence is bad and
unethical. We can all agree that we should avoid certain forms of violent behavior if possible;
however, it is incorrect to assume that all forms of violence is bad. In his article Violent Media is
Good For Kids , Gerald Jones argues that creative violence such as gory video games, Comic
books, and play fighting give children tools to master rage and actually help more kids than they
hurt. What the author is saying here is correct because children use these types of influences in
imaginary play at a young age, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the Incredible Hulk was a ticking time bomb and completely out of control he was a sort of
Jekel and Mr. Hyde character. Timid geek, gone raging goliath if you must. Yes, he was out of
control and frightened tearing up everything in his path, but on the other side of that, he was
also a caring good hearted person that got a good enough handle on his destructive side that he
became a hero and started working with the Avengers. Jones is wrong to imply that the only
reason these comics were good for him was due to the violence alone. This was not a character
like the Joker who just tortured and corrupted people for a laugh and killed mercilessly, there is
a reason the good guy always wins in these comics, and that is to appeal to the children reading
them and to instill that type of behavior. Everybody loves a winner so when they make Batman
or Superman triumph over The Joker or Lex Luthor the authors are instilling the value that good
triumphs over evil to their audience. This means that while yes, they were good for him because
they were violent and juvenile; they were also good because they still had those messages of
conquering the demon, or lose yourself but find yourself again. Jones goes on to persuade us by
using his son as an example.
I have watched my son living the same story transforming himself into a bloodthirsty dinosaur to
embolden himself for the plunge into preschool, a Power Ranger to muscle through a

Gotto and Turnbull (2010) discuss the importance of families and early intervention specialists as
the main component of home visits. In order to see how these partnerships worked, they
interviewed early interventionists and families. The data collected was used to study the emotional

For some of the parents in the study, they struggled with their child s physical or emotional delay
and in essence felt a sense of sorrow when it came to their child. The providers were viewed as their
hope for their child. In the study, there were also a few families who faced several emotional needs.
The families were not the only ones to face emotional needs. Early intervention specialists also
demonstrated a sense of urgency in helping the child not only overcome the delay but also prevent
further delays. Many of these providers also had a feeling of stress due to their case overloads.
Providers also experienced emotional distress with the families who had more complex emotional
needs and thus felt inadequate to help them. Furthermore, providers who entered homes which were
different from their own, also felt emotional discomfort. (Brotherson et al., 2010)
The first partnership pattern between the families and their providers identified was one in which
both the family s needs and the provider s needs were met. (Brotherson et al., 2010) This
partnership was a match in where both the provider and the family shared the same emotional need.
They both felt a sense of urgency to help the child and intern worked together to aid the child s
progression. The sessions were child focused. The parent was focused on her child s progression
and participated during the home visits. Meeting the family s emotional need of urgency

my middle school, then all the other kids looked like grown adults and they were so much taller
than I. Also coming to high schoolmeant more responsible. Which at the time I really wasn t ready

Jack Kerouac s On The Road Essay
Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Jack Kerouac is considered a legend in history as one of America s best and foremost Beat
Generation authors. The term Beat or Beatnic refers to the spontaneous and wandering way of life
for some people during the period of postwar America, that seemed to be induced by jazz and drug
induced visions. On the Road was one such experience of Beatnic lifestyle through the eyes and
heart of Jack Kerouac. It was a time when America was rebuilding after WW I. Describing the
complexity and prosperity of the postwar society was not Karouac s original intent. However, this
book described it a way everyone could visualize. It contained examples and experiences of

Cassady is the cowboy crashing , is a most accurate example of American society s fascination
with the cowboy lifestyle and how it eventually dwindled. Karouac describes these places and
their short adventures, in a very different but detailed manner according to his perspective. Some
lavish and fun, some corrupt and dangerous, but all very interesting. It describes the environment
of several locations throughout the nation during this period of postwar America with great
accuracy. This is a fantastic, documentary type novel that will leave the reader considerably
more informed about what was happening in society during that era along with a better
understanding of why so many people were drawn to the search of a new frontier.Although they
referred to their journeys as spiritual , Karouac had a difficult time convincing his critics of such
a description. Though they rushed back and forth across the country on the slightest whim,
getting their kicks along the way, their real journey was toward self realization and inner
understanding. They seemed to cross most boundaries, legal and moral, but it was only in hopes
of finding a belief on the other side. On the Road could be considered an American classic along
with such books as Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn , and Scott Fitzgeralds s The Great Gatsby .

Medication errors occur often enough to be problematic, causing researchers to try to find the

Every time an incident like this occurs, multiple people are affected. There are a variety of
different outcomes that pertain to a medication error. As I have stated previously, multiple
people are affected when a medication error takes place. Not only does this affect the patient and
nurse, but also the physician, and healthcare that you are working for. As an employee, you
represent the healthcare facility that you work for. The patient s family will also be affected.
Say for instance you gave a patient an extremely high dose of a medication that lead to an
overdose, the patients family will be affected dramatically. There are still a high number of
medication errors for this to be problematic. This incident happens too frequently, which is why
researchers are trying to find a cause and solution. It has also been noted that there are a high
number of medication errors than what is actually reported. The Nursing Economic$ journal found
that 19% of doses given in the 36 facilities they were researching, 7% were considered as harmful
(Tseng, 2012). Even though the error affects multiple people, the nurses are the main care giver
when it comes to giving medication. Nurses are the people responsible for giving the medication.
They are responsible for double checking and making sure they are giving the correct dosage and
knowing the information about the medication they are giving. While there are a high number of

Emma In Lady Midnight
Emma is the epitome of a brave, strong, warrior like heroine. Her parents were murdered when
she was a child, and since then she has been training to seek revenge on their killer. She is part of
an elite group of people called Shadowhunters. Their job is to fight creatures like demons,
vampires, and faeries by using weapons and sometimes parabatai. A parabatai is a Shadowhunter s
partner in battle; they have a bond stronger than anything else in the world, but they can never fall
in love. Emma Carstairs is a sarcastic character filled with wit and sassy comebacks. She is
stubborn and independent traits not always appreciated by other characters in the novel. Much of
the characterization in Lady Midnight appears through the interactions between characters. Emma
s parabatai, Julian, is shown as kind and compassionate due to the fact that he must take care of
his four younger siblings. He is in love with Emma, but she doesn t realize this. This further
characterizes her as someone that s dense when it comes to love. Her friend, Christina, is an

order to build a more solid picture of the characters. Both of them are faeries; the first, named
Iarlath, looks similar to a plant, with dark green skin, yellow owl like eyes, and clawed hands.

 • 2. Literary Context Of King Hezekiah Of Judah Literary Context 2 Kings 19:15 19 contains various theology on prayer and also about who God is. The passage is a simple prayer of King Hezekiah of Judah. And this passage is placed right between 2 King 19 which seems to be the middle of the story of King Hezekiah of Judah but this is the pivotal point of the story. In addition, the passage shows the most critical and difficult state for Hezekiah. He is cornered in by Sennacherib and there is no way out. 2 Kings 19:1 7 is about prophet Isaiah encouraging Hezekiah that Judah will not be delivered by the hand of Sennacherib. And 2 Kings 19:20 35 is about the prophecy of Isaiah concerning the Sennacherib (v.20 28) and restoration of remnants (v.29 v.31) and destruction of Assyrian army by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This trait is different from the previous kings or any kings after Hezekiah. In addition, there is an overlap of two kingdoms in 2 Kings 18:9 12, Judah and Samaria. However, the northern kingdom Israel was exiled because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God and transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed. Surely, author indicates that this is the clear reason why they were exiled by the Assyrians and unless Judah realigned their hearts back to God, they would end up the same way. In 2 Kgs 18:13 18, the author begins in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah. The author shows that after six years of Samaria being exiled now they were in a grievous situation and cornered in like Israel. All of their fortified cities had been captured. Then Hezekiah pays tribute to stop the Assyrians to buy them some time before they eventually come to them. And he ends up giving all the silvers and stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord. This surely is not a picture of triumphant Israel but rather a defeated nation subdued by Assyrians. In 2 Kings 18:19, Rabshekah the messenger of Sennacherib comes and say to the officials on whom do you rest this trust of yours? This is a claim against Hezekiah s alliance to King Egypt. Though they have made a suzerain vassal relationship with Sargon, Hezekiah withheld the tributes and broke the treaty with Assyria. Instead of trusting in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The battle was fought between General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia and General McClellan s Army of the Potomac. Although the battle lasted only 12 hours, it was a significant point of the American Civil War, as well as the deadliest day in history. Tactically the battle was considered a draw, but the North claimed strategic victory and President Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing hundreds of thousands of slaves. • 4. Childhood Nutrition as well as medical and psychiatric doctors, have concluded that optimal academic potential can only be achieved when accurate nutritional practices are in play. Malnutrition results from an inadequate consumption of the essential vitamins and nutrients. Parents and students seem unaware of the academic devastation caused by having an improper nutrition. Childhood nutrition has been a major focus for research and study for many years. Educators and doctors have studied the effects of improper eating habits in children and reported many detrimental changes to academic ability that occur as a result. Malnourishment causes children to suffer cognitively, physically, and behaviorally. The effects of undernourishment cause devastating consequences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Misbehavior cannot be caused by malnutrition itself. Many different factors contribute to a child s inappropriate behavior in school. Having an improper nutrient balance is one of those factors. Many people are unaware of the beneficial and detrimental effects food does have on altering a child s behavior. Your Mental Health (1998) outlines certain behaviors that can be distorted by consuming particular nutrients. Frances and First (1998) also discuss the damage behavioral problems cause to a child s educational performance. Behavior problems are otherwise known as classroom disruptions. Disruptions within a classroom result in every student s inability to focus and learn, as well as the teacher s inability to conduct lessons and teach new material. Tanner and Finn Stevenson (2002) support these findings in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry in an article entitled Nutrition and Brain Development . Specific nutrients were reported to directly affect a child s behavior. Stress is placed on the successful usage of food for behavioral disorders, instead of taking the typical medication route. Children must possess the ability to behave in order to move forward in life. Misbehavior is neither tolerated in the classroom or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 5. My Experience In My Life As time went by, it seemed to fly faster and faster. Soon, it was the summer between my sophomore and junior years and I had an abundance of plans for how to spend my summer. One event stood out compared to all of the others. It would greatly influence my life and shape my my thoughts to the way they are today. Reminiscing on the events of my past, my journey to the glamorous mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexicoto hike for a week is indisputably the greatest memory of my life so far. Our Boy Scout troop congregated at the Grimes South Sports Complex at way too early of a time on a Friday morning. Nobody felt tired, however, due to our excitement for the launch of our trek. We had been preparing for this adventure for over a year. Our moms took the pictures that are typical of moms, then we left in cars headed for Kansas City. I was fortunate to be placed in the vehicle that some of my closer friends were in and we had a blast on the car ride to KC. From there, we boarded a train which would take us to our destination of Cimarron, New Mexico, the closest form of civilization to Philmont. Travelling by train was a unique experience. The seats were extremely comfortable and could spin around. Each seat was situated by a large window that spanned from the ceiling to the floor allowing for a phenomenal view of the passing scenery. The food on the meal cart was scrumptious. It was essentially a much more pleasureable plane ride. After about twelve hours, we stumbled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 6. Human Development And Identity Development In the following essay I will be discussing two particular aspects of human development and behavior; personality and identity. I will then demonstrate an understanding of two psychological theories which can help understand influences on personality and identity development. Finally, I will look into further detail at Holmes and Rahe and identity two life events which I can relate to the case study and the impact it s had on the individual. There has been an ongoing debate within society for a long time over the influences of nature vs nurture and which one has the more influential factor on behavior and development. It is a clear fact that Human development and behavior is a complex interrelationship between nature and nurture. Nature relates to the genes in which we inherit from our parents, it mainly focuses on genetics and hereditary characteristics, such as eye colour, hair colour, or inheriting illnesses. Nature can also be referred to as the genotype. Nurture relates to social circumstances, such as our upbringing and lifestyle. It looks at the interaction between our genotype and environment. Another term for nurture is known as the phenotype. An example of nature vs nurture can be a person who has developed a hereditary diabetes from their parents. Although this has been passed on through the influence of nature we can still use our nurture side to influence change, such as changing diet and lifestyle habits to counteract the diabetes. Essay On Demise Of Macbeth Sharma 1 Kusum Sharma Mrs. Nash English 10 Gt 12/14/2014 Demise of Macbeth Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is the tragic tale of a virtuous man, corrupted by his power and greed. In the play Macbeth, we see that when the motivation to succeed in life becomes overpowering, one may decide on wrongful actions to achieve a goal. Many facts play an important role in deciding his ill fated future but the major influence on Macbeth s actions are of the witches and their prophecies as they were easily able to control his mind, making him believe ... Macbeth s malice and deceptiveness are shown further in the play when he becomes so obsessed with the witches prophesies to his friend, Banquo, that he decides to hire two men to kill him and his son as he feared they would cause hazard in this future plan. • 8. Sonnet 60 Metrical Devices As opposed to the majority of Shakespeare s sonnets in the series that are addressed to an unnamed young man, sonnet 60 deals largely with the relentless approach of time and its war against humanity rather than love. In this sonnet, the breaking of the poetic form expected of a sonnet is utilized to not only enhance the specific localized metaphors in the poem, but the overall thematic content as well. By taking the traditional iambic pentameter and presenting moments of disruption, this poem draws attention to the dramatization of Time s march against humanity, and also to the ability of the writer of this poem who appears in the final couplet. In this paper, I intend to look specifically at the utilization of trochaic feet in order to examine the ways in which the manipulation of metrical devices can create meaning. The first quatrain is already rife with metrical irregularities and each one serves to both mimic and enhance the content of the lines. The first two lines of the sonnet, Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore, // So do our minutes hasten to their end draw an explicit comparison between the crashing waves beating against the shore and the approach of the end of one s time (1 2). Rather than the traditional unstressed, stressed pattern of iambic pentameter, Like as... and So do... are trochaic feet, meaning that the form is inverted to stressed, unstressed syllables. By beginning these lines in the same way, the meter serves to draw an even further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 9. Home Is Tony Morrison s Fictional Account Of A Korean War Home is Tony Morrison s fictional account of a Korean War veteran s experiences after returning to America. The veteran, Frank Money, faces particular challenges because he is a black man in 1950s America. Frank is attempting to return to his home state of Georgia in order to save his little sister, Cee, from danger. Along the way he faces the pitfalls of being a black man and a veteran. By writing from multiple perspectives, Morrison is able to compare Frank s experience to that of other black peoplein America, especially Cee s. By the end of the novel, Frank and Cee have experienced an arc of redemption and self realization. Home displays the dual trauma experienced from American war and racism. The comparison of Cee s story with Frank s solidifies the trauma of both their situations. Frank deals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) caused by watching his friends die and killing a young Korean girl. With PTSD come alcoholism, unemployment, and homelessness. This is typical of the awful experiences we know veterans go through. Simultaneously, Frank faces racism upon his return home and throughout his travels. He needs to know specific black friendly homes and businesses in order to have ways to eat, stay, and move across the country, otherwise facing persecution from white peoplehe encounters. Often, Frank can t even avoid racist violence, such as when he was pulled into a fight with a man in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Cee experiences just as many traumatic events as ... Title: Molecular and Biochemical Genetic Studies on Rice Blast Disease. 1 Summary: Background: Rice (Oryza sativa, L.) is one of the strategic crops in Egypt, and improvement of its productivity is an essential requirement to ensure food security. Rice blast is one of the most important diseases of rice causing an average yield loss of 30 50% annually in rice growing areas of the world. Many resistant rice cultivars are short lived after deployment because of the highly variation in Magnaporthe oryzae population, due to a high level of genomic instability of the pathogen. So that, the rice breeders trying to overcome this problem by developing resistant varieties by genetic approaches to maintain sustainability of rice production. Proposed Research: The aim of the current study is to study the rice blast mechanisms at molecular, biochemical and physiological levels in some rice genotypes. Methodology: (1) Some selected rice genotypes will be evaluated for blast resistance in seedling stage under greenhouse condition. (2) Identification of rice blast resistance gene(s) in the genotypes. (3) Determination of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activities and the malondialdehyde (MDA) content in leaves of tested genotypes before and after 8 days from inoculation date with Pyricularia oryzae. (4) Quantitative real time PCR (qRT PCR) analysis will be carried out to identify the most responsive rice blast resistance gene(s) in the genotypes. (5) For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here s his list, with the least forgivable lies at the top: Lies told in teaching religion Lies which hurt someone and help nobody Lies which hurt someone but benefit someone else Lies told for the pleasure of deceiving someone Lies told to please others in conversation Lies which hurt nobody and benefit someone Lies which hurt nobody and benefit someone by keeping open the possibility of their repentance Lies which hurt nobody and protect a person from physical defilement Christian belief The christian view on lying is the fact that God gave us human beings a gift and that gift is, communication. We should not abuse this gift by hurting others with our lives depending on how big or how small. Lies are bad and can really have a bad and heavy impact on one s life. It was a war between the large English army and the much smaller Scottish army. The Scottish showed they were a force to be reckoned with when they took Stirling Castle for ransom. The English were trying to get the castle back from the Scottish which caused the Battle of BannockburnLeading up to the Battle of Bannockburn, quite a few things happened. In 1290, Margaret, the maid of Norway , the heir to the Scottish throne, died when she was eight years old. Her death left Scotland without a ruler. Bruce, however, wanted all of the Scottish land back from England. He began to take the land back, and by 1314, the Scottish held all the castles except five. These five castles included Stirling Castle, which is located just outside of the town of Bannockburn, Scotland. In the summer of 1314, Edward Bruce, Robert Bruce s younger brother, began the siege of Stirling Castle. The English men inside the castle called for help from their country. The men inside the castle were so desperate to escape, they created the Stirling Castle Agreement. The agreement stated that if no help came by midsummer, the castle would give way. Robert Bruce was determined to get Stirling Castle, and he began to prepare an army in case the English sent help. Although the agreement between the Scottish and the English inside the castle, both sides wanted a fight. The battle began on July 24, 1314. The English army traveled for many days to reach Stirling Castle. The Scottish knew the English were coming, and the English knew the Scottish were spying on them. The English army was much larger. The 8,000 Scottish men did not come anywhere near the 20,000 English men. Not only did the English have more men, but they were better trained than the Scottish army. After studying art and many journeys, he had trouble getting famous and put on the art world map. But finally, in 1933, a first installation is dedicated to him at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. His works are mainly inspired by his journeys, trips to different places and the solitude of the American in the twentieth century. Nighthawksis his most famous piece of art (Laura Herail, blog). After researching and looking at many of his paintings, this artwork portrays sadness and yet it is not a sad picture. It could be something enticing and yet charming about anonymous diners. The lack of domesticity offering a relief what can be the full comfort of home. It may be easier to give away to sadness here than in a cozy living room with wallpaper and framed pictures. The 24 hour diner is a sanctuary for those who for some reason or another have failed to find there place in the normal world of relationships or community. Many countries are trying to reduce the carbon emission. They tried controlling the smoke of the car. They tried controlling the use of the electric and recycle everything they can use again. However, the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of buildings is more than either the transportation or industrial sectors. According to US Green Building Council s research,In 2004, total emissions from residential and commercial buildings were 2236 million metric tons of CO2, or 39% of total US. • 23. Five Aspects Of The Nine Catholic Social Thought Principles The Nine Catholic Social Thought Principles The way of life can be broken down into nine principles govern by the Catholic Social Thought (CST), covering all five aspects of humanity. The aspects include; social, spiritual, personal, economic and political, all five create a holistic approach to optimize a sense of humanity for self and the community. The nine principles of CST are as follows: Dignity of the Human person The first and most important principle is dignity of the human person as it empowers a foundation to the other eight principles. With respects to the catholic perspective God created mankind in his own image (genesis 1:27) meaning everyone in an idea world should have the same significances and respectability (Byron, 1998). Regardless of any identifying factors, age, intelligence or economic status no one should be above or below anyone, society should be in harmony and dignifying every human. A way to achieve this is by using Immanuel Kant s philosophy Always treat people as ends in themselves, never as means to an end (Kant, Heath Schneewind, 2001). Without dignity there isn t much of humanity, as we will be all means , used and maltreated. Common Good Common good falls into the first of the great commandments, Love thy neighbour as thyself (Mark 22:38). Breaking down this commandment expresses the golden rule conveyed by Hugh Mckay in he s book, The Good Life, what makes life worth living (Australian Catholic University, 2017a). The golden rule allows the community to prosper as it works to support everyone, little pieces of kindness and charity to build a masterpiece called humankind. With building the masterpiece it lets up a brighter and greater future for generations to come. Subsidiarity Subsidiarity ensures a fair and just world, giving a voice to important issues, ideas and threats that the impacted people face in their lives. By giving subsidiarity to the general public it will allow the first principle of the CST, as it is securing human rights with specific legislation tailored to that community (Carozza, 2003. Pg.38 40). Having decision making proximal to the impacted people promotes community flourishment. Subsidiarity can be compressed into a niche ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

 • 31. Marie De France Composed A Works Of The French Aquitanian... From the works of the French Aquitanian and Champagnian troubadours, the framework/ideals of fin amour grew and spread throughout Europe, reaching the courts of Britain. As the conception of fin amour became increasingly popular amongst the literature of the aristocracy, writers such as, Andreas Capellanus wrote of the stages and rules of courtly love. Inspired by this movement in the culture and literature of court, the poet Marie de Francecomposed a collection of romantic lays. In the Breton Lays , Marie presents her narratives as a guide for courtly lovers. For, each lay exhibits the problems, consequences, and rewards that can occur if a lady or knight does/or does not follow the three principles of fin amour which, as explained by the scholars Jeri S. Guthrie (1976) and F.R.P Akehurst (1995), include mezura (to have self restraint and patience in love, to have discretion within an affair), joven (to be spontaneous in love, to woo with grand gestures and gifts), and cortezia (to follow the moral and societal rules of court). The first standard of courtly love Marie de France presents within The Breton Lays is mezura. Through the narratives of Lanval and Yonec , Marie reinforces the importance mezura plays in maintaining a courtly affair; she shows that being open about a relationship can lead to disaster. WesternGeco successfully argued that its damages included $90 million of lost profits it would have earned if it had won surveying contracts that were ultimately awarded to ION s customers for surveying in international waters. ION appealed the jury verdict, arguing that WesternGeco was not the owner of the asserted patents, that the trial court made several errors related to its grant of summary judgment of infringement of one patent claim, and that lost profits were incorrectly awarded for activities outside the U.S. WesternGeco appealed the ... • 35. Art Analysis Of Henri Matisse s The Rose Marble Table This formal and historical art analysis will define the color, composition, line, and values of the revolutionary modernist painting The Rose Marble Table (1917) by Henri Matisse. Matisse utilizes a modernist approach to this painting by presenting a minimalist approach to the placement of the rose and the table, which presents a very basic color scheme. The strong lines of the painting define the simplistic presentation of a sculptured object of beauty, which is nestled in various flora at the fringes of the composition. More so, Matisse s modernist approach defines the perspective of detachment from social norms, which occurred during the First World War. Matisse sought to present an internalized vision of beauty that would not allow the horrors of war to impede his vision of beauty. This internalized view defines the revolutionary focus of Matisse s work, since he did not allow the enteral issues of the world to influence the subject matter of his paintings. In essence, a formal and historical analysis of the revolutionary spirit of modernismwill be examined in Henri Matisse s The Rose Marble Table. In formal terms, Matisse s The Rose Marble Table is a presented as a two dimensional style of painting in the modernist style of the early 20th century. The rose marble table at the center of the composition is seen with the top of the table fully exposed, and the lower base of the table that extends below it. This central positioning of the table provides a compositional approach that makes the colorful values of the table come forth in contrast to the dark brown background. More so, the placement of a basket on the table and few small fruits provides some evidence of depth perception, although they are also presents in a very two dimensional style. In the background, the black stems of trees and ivy vines provide a fringe accent to the painting, as ivy covers the base of the table and is seen at the upper right side of the painting. These organic parts of the painting define a more realistic presentation of flora, which contrasts the more two dimensional aspects of the rose table at the center of the painting. This type of compositional arrangement blends the modernist shape of the table as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Mahoney, 205) The second rather important cup in the fourth Harry Potter novel is the Triwizard Cup. This is the Holy Grail of the Triwizard Tournament, and the object that all of the contestants are seeking. The Triwizard Cup fits the more traditional, somewhat less educated views of the Holy Grail jeweled, flashy, made of a precious metal, and quite obviously worth a lot of money. It is interesting to note that when Harry and Cedric touch it, they are whisked away to the graveyard where Voldemort and Wormtail are plotting their nefarious deeds. Galahad, after seeing the Holy Grail, is also whisked away, except he goes to heaven, while Harry ends up getting tortured for a bit, and barely escapes with his life. The Grail quest of Arthurian legend shares a few thematic similarities with the quest for the Triwizard Cup. According to the Matthews book, The Grail Tradition, there were three somewhat successful seekers of the Grail: Galahad, Percival, and Bors.
