A Research Study On Prostate Cancer
Tolypocladium sp. was incubated with cobalt (II) chloride, cobalt (II) nitrate, cobalt thiocyanate,
erbium chloride, or palladium (III) acetate to produce secondary metabolites that may serve as
therapeutic agents for various diseases. Cultures were incubated with its respective metal compound

Radiation and chemotherapy may only partially penetrate a tumor; remaining malignant tissue will
allow the cancer to reoccur within the patient. Incomplete tumor removal is a risk associated with
surgical removal of cancerous tissue.3 Additionally, studies have shown that radiation promotes
cancerous cell growth. Radiation promotes a cellular process known as autophagy, which supports
metabolic functions while a cell is living with some sort of environmental stress. Typically, the cell
will degrade longstanding organelles and proteins to recycle the molecular units of macromolecules.
This becomes an alternate source of nutrients during cell survival. Within a premalignant cell,
autophagy will prevent a cell from replicating if it is cancerous. Once the cell has become
malignant, it is living under environmentally stress induced by hypoxia and nutrient depletion.
Malignant cells are dependent of autophagy for survival, and radiation promotes autophagy; this,
radiation promotes cancer.4 Current cancer treatments have high risks of harsh side effects and a
high probability of reoccurring cancer. There is an urgent need for new anticancer therapies;
compounds derived from the natural products of bacteria and fungi have been investigated as a
possible solution. The natural product industry gained popularity around1970 1980 and the primary
focus is to determine the structure of small molecule produced

Oxygen and Life Essay
Bio Lab 101

Early Atmosphere
1. How abundant was oxygen in the early atmosphere?
The earth s early atmosphere contained only small amounts of free oxygen, produced by the
reaction of water vapor with sunlight. The oxygen rich atmosphere that developed later and on
which oxygen breathing life now depends was result of the origin and spread of organisms capable
of photosynthesis.
2. What evidence do scientists have that the oxygen content of our atmosphere has increased since
the earth s origin?
By looking at the rustiness of ancient rocks, scientists attempt to trace the evolution of oxygen in the
atmosphere.

3. What circumstances may have fostered the development of chains of amino acids and
nucleotides?
The circumstances that may have played a part in the development of these chains were the
conditions in which they were formed. They formed in small ponds that periodically heated and
dried, leaving traces of these water molecules that would play a part in producing the chains.
4. What are the characteristics of the ancestors of living cells and what could they do ?
The ancestors of living cells, also known as the forerunners , were single celled, with a ring shaped
coil of DNA. They would gather into clumps, absorb smaller molecules, rearrange them, and
released them as waste products.
5. Why is water important to life?
Water is the medium in which biochemical reactions occur, playing an extreme importance in
creating and sustaining life here on earth.
6. What are the true hallmarks of life?
complicated network of energy producing an energy consuming reactions plus the ability of the
entire system plus the ability of the entire system to produce itself was the hallmark of true life.
7. What molecular evidence do scientists have that all life is at least distantly related and has a

Building Their Own Software For A Company s Success
In today s business world the software that a business uses and develops to control their data and
manage their business is a critical dimension for the company s success. While some companies
might still believe that IT and software are tangential and purchase their software off the shelf
this is becoming less and less of a viable option for companies looking to compete in larger
markets. Some companies purchase their software off the shelf, but most companies are seeing
the need for customized software whether developed in house or custom ordered. In fact, eighty
seven percent of recently surveyed companies as reported by Joe McKendrick for Service
Oriented on ZDNet, said that building their own software was essential to innovation . This is a
trend that only seems to be growing as business grow more specialized and data becomes more
and more critical for making essential business decisions. Each year a company s software does
more and more for the business, whether their software is point of sales, database tracking systems,
mapping software or order managements systems, just to name a few. Every management team
needs to consider their abilities to develop, modify and create the new software that powers their
business moving forward. USM currently struggles with the speed and efficiency that software is
developed, and this is hindering our ability to compete in a difficult environment. Examining both
new and old methods of developing software and comparing them

PEST Analysis on British Airways Essay
PEST Analysis on British Airways
The four different environments are often referred to as PEST and allow a PESTanalysis to be
conducted this allows the organisation to review and consider the environment in which it operates.
The PEST factor that has contributed to the airlines industry for many years, but has brought a
drastic change was from the disaster on September 11th
2001.
Political environment concerns the role of the government and its affects in an organisation it also
includes the extent to which the government intervenes in the economy. Due to the terrorist attack

The main issue that would affect the airline, that would be seen as a short term effect would be that
a company share values have decreased rapidly. However this is not a long term worry, as things
would eventually start getting back to normal, share value would increase. The British economy
has lost put, as many people are scared to fly into America, and therefore the demand is low to
travel, however the supply is high, this could be a dangerous factor for the small airline companies
that do not have enough funding in the first place, now they are literally on the verge of bankruptcy.
Social environment is of great importance when being applied to different organisations, in case the
airline industry. The short term affect that the social factor has on the airline industry is that, people
have cut down on using flying as a mean of travel after the
September 11th incident. Many of the flights have been cancelled from
America, this resulting to financial difficulties for British Airways.
The long term affect that is going to have is that if there are not as many passengers, then the
amount of staff that the companies have hired are no longer needed. However there are some
people that have not been affected by the September 11th incident, many people have taken this as
an advantage, of cheaper tickets. This however is a short term affect, due to as soon as

Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Fugue Bach Shostakovich

Comparative Fugal Analysis
The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that
three historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich
Handel (1685 1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), all employed a closely related
fugue subject in three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a
comparison of these works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a
reflection of the composers style within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the
fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three
composers analyzed fall closely together in history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were
contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after Bach s death and three years before
Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue subjects presupposes a treatment
regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content among the subjects of these
fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising number of similarities
arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in the construction of the
fugue subjects limit the number of results possible.
This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2

Essay about A Career as a Pediatrician
Many people in this world want to make a difference in life. However, most people do not want
to put in all the effort that it takes to do so. The job of a pediatrician is life changing to many.
Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician.
A pediatrician s job is a highly skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to
deal with and help as many children as possible. What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors
who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). They deal with
childhood diseases and the care of infants with health and sickness (Elberts). The typical upper age
limit of patients is from age twelve to age... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most pediatricians start in the morning around 9:00 A.M. However, they have to come in a little
earlier to get ready for the day (Holycross). A current pediatrician, Julie Holycross, stated that she
prints out lists and growth charts, downloads labs, and also does assessments to make sure her
patients meet their milestone. Where does the word Pediatrician come from? The Greek words
pais and iatros mean child and doctor of healer. Pediatrics is a cognate that means healer of children
(NetMed Pediatrics). In June of 1802, the first accepted pediatric hospital was the Hospital des
Enfants Malades, located in Paris of the Western World. In English the hospital would be called,
Hospital For Sick Children (NetMED Pediatrics). Twenty eight years later, Berlin opened a
Pediatric Pavilion in 1830. Many other European counties followed soon after (NetMED
Pediatrics). Pediatrics did not become a medical specialty in the United States until before the
Civil War (Elberts). The English speaking world waited until 1852 for its first pediatric hospital,
the Hospital for Sick Children. (NetMED Pediatrics). The next pediatrician institution in the United
States was the Children s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1855 (NetMED Pediatrics). In the year of
1880, a pediatric section was finally organized by the American Medical Association. Because of
that, it made the medical profession understand that children are not just small adults (Elberts).

A Proposal for the International Elimination of Nuclear...
The Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) set out a model of the Nuclear Weapons
Convention (NWC) in 1997. The model underwent revision and reforms in 2007. The text puts a
proposal that international law completely eliminates and bans the use of nuclear weapons. The
proposal has general support from the international system. Over the years, security at the
international level has faced opposition when it comes to the disarmament of nuclear weapons.
Discussions that are concerned with the risks of nuclear weapons and the options for disarmament
have been featured in several international law conferences with the increase in the back up for a
world free of nuclear weapons.

Shortly afterwards, there was a comprehensive report that called for a world free of nuclear
weapons by the Canberra commission. The abolition of nuclear weapons was supported by former
presidents, military officers, among others (Jurgen, Wolfgang, Kalinowski., April, 2005). Due to
increased public pressure, the NPT recognized nuclear powers stopped their programs for nuclear
testing. The Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) was finalized in 1996, but has not been
implemented due to the lack of ratification by the necessary states.
From that time onwards, the disarmament conference in Geneva has not had progress. However,
there have been discussions about the reduction in production of materials for nuclear weapons.
Since 1998, the disarmament conditions became worse. There have been several nuclear tests by
North Korea, Pakistan, and India, the re introduction of defense missiles, space weapons, nuclear
tactics, the 2001 terrorist attacks and the war on terror. There was abandonment of the foes for
negotiation on disarmament as well as the Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABMT) agreements to

Essay on The Human Genome Project
Embedded deeply in our body is the complex biological story. The Human Genome Project is the
exploration of this intricate yet crucial storyline. The Genome is a complete set of genes that make
up an organism. Genes are made up of DNA (deoxynucleic acid) which subsequently is made up of
long paired strands. These paired strands attach in a specific manner, for example, Adenine (A)
attaches itself to Thymine (T) and Cytosine(C) to Guanine (G). The genome is the perplexing key
in instructing cells to do their duty. Cells interact together to create tissues. Tissues connect
together to create organs. Organs function together to produce an organism.
The first fully completed human genome was completed and publish on April 2003. This took ...

Scientists then take pictures of each snippet of the genome. By have a vivid illusion of the order of

to have the final copy of the fully sequenced genome. There are many other methods out there to
decipher the genome but this is the most common method of usage.this method can also be known
as the Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR). PCR is a laboratory technique that uses primers to
amplify a specific area and then copies the sequence a billion times over. Another method worth
mentioning is the combined use of Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) and Gel
Electrophoresis. RFLP is when restriction enzymes are used as markers which cut DNA in specific
known locations. This samples derived from RFLP are then run through the Gel Electrophoresis
which can configure these macromolecules by separating them. There is also the Yeast Artificial
Chromosomes (YAC) which is human engineered DNA molecule used to clone DNA sequences in
yeast cells.Another one similar to the YAC is the Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) which
instead of the yeast cells use bacterial cells.
The ultimate goal of the HGP is to provide an encyclopedia of detailed information of the location,
structure and function of the complete set of human genes. The HGP also loyally supports and
sponsors genome studies on other organisms

How My Life Has Changed My Outlook On Life

out of the cushions, was like picking up a boulder with my bare hands. Before this point in time
my life was basic. There was six people in the room when the news was dropped. Each person
was on the edge of their seat already anticipating the news my mom was about to speak. We all
sat in the living room which could comfortably fit all of us. However, this time was different. All
the seats were filled with heavy hearts. My mom said guys, I have something to tell you .
Seconds following that statement my Mom mom broke down into tears. Seeing someone you love

Morality, Law, and Politics Essay
I can imagine a perfect world. A world where morality is of upmost importance in our dealings
with each other, where morals are critically examined, and debated with reason as well as passion.
This world would be a pinnacle of human achievement. A pinnacle that we are nowhere near. Why
is this? Well, in today s society, moralsare often associated with obeying the law, and since laws
are legislated by politicians, they are subject to politics. Laws are not right in and of themselves, and
morals are not a matter of a majority s opinion. Some matters that are in the domain of charity are
done through politics, often citing moralityas a reason. Where exactly does charity fit in with
morals? With politics? In this paper I will explore the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These should be the only rules that may overrule a person s actions, for the more restricted a
person s action becomes, the less likely it is that they ll submit to those restrictions. The reason
morals may overrule a person s actions because these rules are justified. Without justification,
there is no reason at all for people to obey the rules, for in their eyes, the rules would be arbitrary,
and thus would lack any sort of authority over people.
Many people ask why morals should be able to prevail over people s desires. This is a valid
question, one that must be answered if morals are to be defended. Morals must not only be
reasonable for people to follow, but they must also have good reasons for people to follow them,
otherwise people would not bother adhering to them. These reasons should motivate people to
follow these rules. They must appeal to their perceived interests, but if these rules are to apply to
all people, they cannot serve the interests of just a few people. Moral rules are not for imposing
your own values and tastes on other people! As Narveson puts it, [w]hat matters for morals is that
its rules are individually reasonable for people to accept and to follow, so long as others do too

Analyzing The Common Criticisms Of The Concentric Zone Model
Concentric Zone Model
This paper will consider the concentric zone model and how it applies to the living conditions of
the author and my parents. First, I will define the concentric zone model, then I will discuss how
well it fits with the residence I live in now, where I was raised, and where my parents were raised.
Finally, I will examine the common criticisms of the concentric zone model. The concentric zone
model was created by Ernest Burgess, a Canadian urban sociologist, in 1925. Burgess s model
states that a city is divided into a series of circular zones with the center zone, zone A, being the
center of business and culture. The downtown core is where the urban transport system converges,
and where the high rise office towers are concentrated. In zone B adjacent to the central business
district lies the industrial zone, where factories take advantage of th4 labor force nearby. A labor
workforce living within zone B in run down housing for the poorest residents. Zone C is the
housing area for the working class and immigrants able to move out of zone B and its abject
poverty. As the zones emanate from the core and the commute into the center increases, so also
does the housing cost and standard of living. Zone D contains the homes of the higher classes,
located in the suburbs and beyond, usually located near railway ... Show more content on

American urban model. The concentric zone model is not always appropriate to explain urban

The Little Mermaid is an example of how woman were seen in society. In the fairy tale, women are
characterized by appearance rather than personality by both men and women. The little mermaid
mentions But if you take my voice, what shall I have left? (Anderson 226). In this quote, the little
mermaid believes that she cannot just be herself to win the prince s heart. The prince also looks at
women the same way because of how he talks to the little mermaid. He asks her, You ve no fear of
the sea, have you, my dumb child? (Anderson 229). He treats her as if she is still a small child just
because she cannot speak. The tone helps shape the whole story into a feminist piece. Anderson
relays the moral of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the little mermaid went to the sea witch to be changed into a human, she told her, How
stupid of you! Still, you shall have your way, and it ll bring you into misfortune, my lovely
Princess (Anderson 226). The sea witch had already warned the little mermaid even before she
made the potion that it would not go as she planned. The little mermaid, being young and foolish
about love, did what she believed was right. The tone here spoken by the sea witch gives caution
towards the mermaid. Anderson uses the witch as a way to portray to the reader how it is easy
to make mistakes in the matter of love. This example is given when the witch informs her that,
... and if you don t win the Prince s love, so that he forgets father and mother for you and always
has you in his thoughts and lets the priest join your hands together to be man and wife, they you
won t get an immortal soul (Anderson 226). The author uses a reproving tone to demonstrate to
the reader how the little mermaid is foolish, carried away in her childish dreams. Anderson
characterizes the sea witch in such a way that her dialogues warn women to be careful when it
comes to sacrificing themselves for anyone. The imagery used to describe how lovely the
mermaid is portrays what the prince wanted as a wife. When the prince found her on the shore
and took her in as one of his own people, he took care of and adored her, but he would not marry
her because she could not

The Death Of The Modern American Mafia
The American underworld reared its head for the first time in the late nineteenth century. Since this
time new waves of immigrants to the United States, primarily Italian, have facilitated in the rise of
organized crime in America. Italian mafia members treated the workings in America as an
extension of the Sicilian mafia rather than a new organization. The immigration of the Lucania
family from Italy to the United States would be the cause of one of the most drastic changes in the
workings of organized crime. Charles Luciano became the father of the modern American mafia.
Charles Luciano lived the hard childhood experienced by the children of almost all immigrants. On

Luciano could barely speak English which caused him to struggle in school and, being stubborn
and belligerent, he turned to the streets (Gosch, 1975). However, during his five years of formal
education, Luciano did learn one thing: Jews could prove extraordinary allies (Gosch, 1975).
Luciano learned his way around the life of the streets. One of his first major rackets was getting
his schoolmates to pay him for protection ( Lucky Luciano Biography , n.d.). If they didn t cough
up the money, he was liable to give them a beating himself ( Lucky Luciano Biography , n.d.). By
1916, he was a leading member of the Five Points Gang, a gang with a reputation for brutality and
for fighting to the death in gang wars. In this same year, Luciano started delivering narcotics for
George Scanlon, and was caught for selling heroin, which got him a year at Hampton Farms
Penitentiary. This was the start of something for Luciano.
Luciano formed a gang that would later dominate the face of organized crime and change it into a
new and all pervasive menace that would influence the American social life for many years to
come. He first met Meyer Lansky and Benjamin Bugsy Siegel when he was into grabbing pennies
from jewish kids for protection (Gosch, 1975). Luciano had walked up to Lansky, and standing a
whole head taller than him, made the usual proposition for protection (Gosch, 1975). Lansky stared
Luciano down and, with no fear, told Luciano he didn t need

High Levels Of Competitiveness And Hyper Competitiveness
Thornton, Ryckman, and Gold (2011) theorize that high levels of competitiveness or hyper
competitiveness would have a significant influence over achievement striving and impatience and
irritability. It was further hypothesized that personal development competitiveness would be
correlated with achievement striving but not with impatience or irritability. Hyper competitiveness
was defined as competitiveness with others while personal development competitiveness was
correlated with competing with oneself for self improvement. Three hundred and four participants
were administered the Hyper competitive Attitude Scale, the Personal Development Competitive
Attitude Scale, and the Type A Behavior Pattern Inventory. The results of the study indicated that
Type A individuals who were hyper competitive were more likely to demonstrate the irritable and
impatient aspects of Type A personality. They were also less likely to demonstrate positive
correlations with achievement strings including academic achievement. In contrast, people with
high levels of Personal Development Competitiveness were more likely to show high level
achievement strings including academic achievements and were less likely to demonstrate
impatience or irritability. Thornton, Ryckman, and Gold (2011) argue that this demonstrates that
while some aspects of Type A personality and competitiveness have a positive effect on academic
achievement and other types of achievement strings some can be highly detrimental to

The Ghost In Hamlet s Vengeance
The story, Hamlet, could be seen as one full of tragedy, love, and vengeance. Yet, the story could
also be seen as one filled with bouts of psychotic episodes of different characters specifically
Hamlet s. Hypothetically speaking, there seems to be a progress from being a protagonist to an
antagonist within Hamlets character. Many could say it could have been his thirst for vengeance of
hunting down his father s killer and brother, Claudius. It s seen that The Ghostis an embodiment of
Hamlet s grief yet there are questions why Hamlet had became the man he was.Why does this

It seems that it wanted Hamlet to find him and lean in on Hamlet s situation with his anger over

way. Knowing that his son, Hamlet would be furious and wanting to find who his murderer, The
Ghost wanted to use that and control him into doing what he wants rather than what Hamlet

due to The Ghost who wanted to do things in a way that could cause chaos without thinking of his

Not only that, but the Alamo values Austin. This is where their first location was and this is the
city that birthed and nurtured their success. As such, they are tied very securely to the community

EXTERNAL Brand Review: As stated previously, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema mostly engages in
word of mouth advertising and signature events to bolster their public relations efforts. With the

Making The Hummingbird Robots
As a team, David, Mackenzie, Lilly and I worked together to create a robot. The goal of our robot
was to pick a penny up off of the table and place it in the box with just a click of a button. The
materials used were cardboard and scrap metal, which we used to build a majority of the robot. To
make the robotfunction we used the Hummingbird Robotics Kit. We used duct tape to make the
penny sticky so it was able to be picked up. My group worked very hard for this robot to work. A
few problems we faced with the robot was how big of a piece of tape to use to pick up the penny
and what kind of tape to use, and with the timing of how much string to rotate back and forth for
the string to move and how much to make it turn. With the website we had to use to program the

Sports Production Classification
Every live sports production has its ups and downs. The Carson Newman versus Brevard men s
basketball first half was no exception to this. There were five categories that the production of the
broadcast was broken down into; camera angles, camera work, switching, shot selection, and
replay. All of these categories play specific roles into making sure a broadcast goes on
successfully. Only three categories are discussed, as switching and shot selection both fall under the
director and there were no replays used within the first half of this particular production.
The first category that one should look at while critiquing the live sports production is the camera
angles or camera setup. By looking at the camera setup, one is able to better understand ... Show

Overall the shot selection was well done by keeping the wide angle shot the primary camera so that
the audience could see the flow and rhythm of the game. The use of the hero camera was used
effectively throughout the production of the first half. The hero camera was used most
effectively during player fouls and after shots were made, so that the audience had an idea of
who made the basket or the foul. The hero camera was also used particularly well right before the
under twelve media timeout, in getting a close up shot of the player that committed the foul. The
baseline camera selection really stood out the most during the break away dunks and the inbounds
plays on the baseline. One shot that stood out was the opening lineups were the director switched
from the wide shot to the hero shot, so that the audience could visually tell who the starters were
for each team. There was a very well done transitional switch from the director at the 17:50 mark,
the Brevard player grabs the rebound and goes coast to coast with the basketball. The director did a
great job with choosing the student section baseline camera and then switching back to the
primary camera to finish off the play. Another great use of switching came during the under
sixteen timeout, the director made sure to transition from shot to shot, in order for the audience to
get the full grasp of what was going on within the building. Another great shot came from the
14:25 mark in the game when the audience gets the close up of the official handing the ball to the
player for an inbounds play on the far side of the court. There were some instances throughout the
production that were sub par or did not transition as well. The opening tip was a great example as
the director starts out with the wide shot, then goes to a back court shot, then back to the wide shot,
then to the baseline shot. This was

Types Of Communications And Establishing A Standard Format...
integrating the different cultures. It will come as no surprise the communication style at each of
the organizations need to be clearly identified. The two groups coming together could have very
different styles of communicating to not only staff but customers as well. One organization may
use electronic communicationmeans as the main way they communicate within the organization.
Maybe most of the communication is done via email instead of direct conversation. Where another
company may prefer having direct communication face to face or via the telephone. As you can see,
this could create a significant challenge for both organizations because as they merge they will
become frustrated or could even misinterpret an email whereas the staff that is meeting face to face
may feel neglected or ignored because they are not having direct interactions. Identifying the
different types of communications and establishing a standard format that meets the needs of the
employees without comprising the effectiveness of the message must be one of the first steps when
integrating multiple cultures. The second fundamental challenge is conflict resolution within
organizations. Just as each entity has its own way of communicating so are their approaches to
conflict resolution. For example, one group may work in environment where conflicts are dealt

The beneficial effect of meditation for people with chronic conditions is also proven by Chan
Larson (2015), however, their point of view is that further research on the topic is necessary due to
the inconsistency of the results. After examining the multiple research studies, the authors argue
that meditation may result in significant improvements in anxiety, depression, and chronic disease
symptoms . Furthermore, they state that people with chronic diseases relate more positively with
their body, which is resulting in increased activity levels and improved quality of life (Chan Larson,
2015). In some studies, the accent was made on improvement that is achieved in perception or
acceptance of a specific symptom when the symptom itself was not changed. Meditation also
relieved the manifestations of multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and peripheral neuropathy (Chan Larson,
2015). In addition, this complementary treatment modality has the beneficial effects on attention
span, sleep quality and latency, and enhanced well being (Morone, Lynch, Greco, Tindle, Weiner,

Greasy Lake Literary Analysis
Biographical criticism is used to identify and establish certain aspects of stories from an author s
experience. Most authors have demonstrated this theory by writing from their own personal
memories. From Emily Dickinson to Stephen King, countless authors have either written from their
own background or put him/herself into a story. Some have even re written a terrible memory into
the way they wanted that moment to turn out. John Updikeand T.C. Boyle brought this theory to
life in their works A P and Greasy Lake . By reading these stories, one can feel a personal
connection to them because they feel so profoundly relatable. Therefore, in A P and Greasy Lake ,
one can grasp the actuality of the stories by putting themselves in the author s shoes and
remembering their youth.
A P is an excellent use of biographical criticism when connecting to an author s past. The way
Updike wrote this short story proves to the reader that he can still make a connection to that
younger part of himself; since the main character is about nineteen years old and the author was
twenty nine when he wrote it. While reading the story, one can already connect with the
familiarity of it when the main character mentions the aggravating customer, She s one of these
cash register watchers, a witch about fifty with rouge on her cheekbones and no eyebrows...She d
been watching cash registers forty years and probably never seen a mistake before (Updike 1). For

Biblical Theology Of Worship. Throughout Our Time In Church,
Biblical Theology of Worship Throughout our time in Church, and here at Moody, it is hard to go

should worship him. But what does that mean and how do we do it? What does the bible say about
worshiping God? Worshipis the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for God. I think
that we can show that through our daily actions and also through singing to God and praying to
him, as we most commonly see in Church When we envision worship in our minds, we commonly

If they knew why we do what we do in worship on Sunday then they would be much more

on Sunday morning, what better place to look than at some of the churches that Paul wrote to in
his epistles, because apparently we aren t the only ones that are struggling to find out what the
best way of planning corporate worship is. The first verse that anyone goes to for Corporate
Worship is found in Colossians 3:16 when Paul tells the Colossians to, Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. The first step that Paul gives
to the Colossians is to let the word of Christ dwell in you richly , showing there is a connection
between Corporate Worship and the reading of the Word of God. It almost appears as if Paul is
saying we need to read the Word first before we can all come together in worship of God. Then
Paul says we should be teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, This section shows
us two things: teaching, and fellowship. We need to be taught about the word of God and also we
need to keep in touch with other believers and go through life with them, learning from them and
vice versa. Hebrews 10:25 is an example of this, saying we shouldn t be neglecting seeing each

What Is The Mood Of The Tower Of Babel
The Tower of Babel found in Genesis 11:1 9 tells the story of humanity s movement eastward and
settling in the region of Babylon; where at that time, all the people spoke the same language. What
unfolds is their quest to build a tower that would extend high into the heavens in order to make their
name great and keep them from being scattered all over the earth. Also, the people s ingenuity is
highlighted with the process of baking bricks rather than using traditional stone. As they are

First of which, Gary Schnittjer says, The human race defied God s instruction to multiply and fill
the earth because they wanted to make a name for themselves (Schnittjer 1737). God has always

Jerusalem, perhaps not to make their name great, but they are not fulfilling God s command to go

Philippines. Abu Sayyaf s first major attack happened in 1991, when the Abu Sayyaf group set off

Janjalani, he was educated by the Al Islamic Tabligh, a fundamentalist organization funded by
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Janjalani became radicalized after studying and traveling to many

also tend to focus on either those infants under three months or children between three months and
sixteen years. Also there are many studies that relate their effectiveness in detecting Paediatric
Intensive Care admission for already hospitalised children (Edgell et al 2008, Akre et al 2010,

Narrative Essay On Riding The Train
Since I ride the MRT 3 and LRT 2 lines to get to school and back home every day, I m no stranger
to commuting by train. Trying not to get mauled by the rush hour crowd or sitting sleepily on a
bench, wishing I didn t have to get up so early, is routine I don t give much thought to, other than
as complaint fodder. As long as I m concerned, I just have to get somewhere and it s not
necessarily a peaceful ride. Because I never rode the LRT 1, I assumed it would be the same as my
usual commute. However, for once, I decided to pay attention to the little details.
I rode the LRT 1 train on a rainy day. Maybe that was partially why the station was so dark when
I entered. Barely any sunlight lit up the area, and there were little to no working light bulbs
either. Cool winds blew past me, but as soon as people started crowding up in line it got hotter.
When the groaning train arrived it looked like a scene from an old movie complete with a rickety
train and black and white visuals due to the darkness.

As soon as I stepped out from the long ride, the noise from the streets hit me once more. There
were the sounds of honking, engines running, and people shouting. A warm breeze immediately
passed, and I missed the little comfort of the train s air conditioning. Everything was brighter as
well, because there was no longer a roof and tinted windows to separate me from the sun that had
emerged.
I had finally arrived at my destination but I didn t count how many minutes had passed. I wasn t
concerned with rushing anywhere. Despite the little inconveniences, riding a train with no
destination in mind was actually quite peaceful. With the steady motions, the buzzing white noise,
and not having to worry about getting somewhere, it reminded me to relax and let everything go by,
instead of constantly worrying about the

Red Light Green Light And Wine Quotes And Analysis
Got my train ticket here in my pocket. Whoo whoo, clang! Shush shush shush shush.
Whooooooooo... His voice faded. (Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, Chapter 21) The moment
when John Huff, a twelve years old, who s moving away from his friend, Douglas Splauding,
tonight on the day of their game Red Light, Green Light and Statues are the causes of their
friendship that is now on the brink of destruction. It was such a fine day and then suddenly a cloud
crossed the sky, covered the sun, and did not move again seemed to foreshadow that on that day,
Douglas and John s friendship is about to undergo a huge change. As the two boys pondered along
the railroad tracks and up through the hill, their beliefs toward each other decrease and they thought

It s just the same as the usual basic level English that we speak, read, and write on a daily basis.
Though the author s choice of words is vividly imaginative, with each description comes with
another imagery of what s going on in the story. Not only does the setting get the description, but
the characters, the creatures, and all the life form around the main protagonists are also
creatively described. The first words that stand out to me were promise , molten green gold ,
hate , and tries . The reasons why these words relate toward each other and to the story is that
each word holds a very heavy meaning. Promise is an important word that every friendship
relies on, along with the honesty and trust to keep the promise . Based on a quote, The eyes are
the windows of the soul gives the word molten green gold a much deeper meaning when reading
it with the text it came from. And there were the eyes, not blind like statues eyes, but filled with
molten green gold. (Dandelion Wine, Chapter 21) In this text, the two boys, John and Douglas,
are in the middle of playing Red Light, Green Light and Statues . As mentioned, John s eyes
seemed to be more focused elsewhere instead of the game, most likely foreshadowing John
leaving Douglas behind after he moved. Hate is a strong word, and when used towards a friend, it
s either interpreted as a friendly and jokingly manner or genuine

Will O Wisp Myths
Some say our destiny is tied to the land, as much a part of us as we are of it. Others say fate is
woven together like a cloth, so that one s destiny intertwines with many others. It s the one thing
we search for, or fight to change. Some never find it. But there are some who are led. (Brave).
Will O The Wisp is a glowing blue light that is usually found in swamps and bogs. The light has
its mythical and its scientific side to what they are. Will O The Wisps exist but are not what
people make them out to be because urban legends tell a story of their mere existence, they re
featured in movies, and people s details on accounts of their sightings.

Extremely Loud Incredibly Close By Jonathan Foer
I don t speak. I m sorry, (Foer 30) is a phrase frequently written by Thomas Schell Sr., a character
in Extremely Loud Incredibly Close, after he survives the traumatic Dresden bombing. Extremely
Loud Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer explores a different traumatic experience, the effect of
Thomas Jr. s death in 9/11 on his son Oskar. After his father s death, Oskar seeks understanding
and comfort in his search for the lock to fit the key left to him by his father. Similarly, Bruce
Springsteens album The Risingexamined the many ways people find comfort after a disaster,
particularly after the 9/11 attacks. The common theme of seeking comfort after a loss is
demonstrated in both Extremely Loud Incredibly Close and The Rising as a literal journey and as a
search for physical and emotional human connection, although The Rising emphasizes finding
comfort in religion.
Oskar Schell and the narrators of Further On (Up the Road) and Lonesome Day take a literal
journey to find comfort. Oskar s journey starts after finding an envelope containing a key with
Black written on the outside in his father s closet a year after his death. Because of the
reconnaissance missions the two frequently took together, Oskar believes it is a message to him
and tries to stay connected with his father by finding the lock. Indeed, he says, Every time I left
our apartment to go searching for the lock, I became a little lighter, because I was getting closer to
Dad (Foer 52). As Oskar

The Hound Of Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
Matthew Le
Mr. Gorden
Advanced Composition
11/14/2016
Crime is as old as humanity itself, and the first crime committed by man according to Christianity
is that of Cain killing Abel. Throughout the recorded history, the human past is significantly littered
with criminal activities including mass murder, wars, and genocides. Moreover, beginning the 18th
century, historians have pointed at new forms of crimes that target specific groups of people like a
particular ethnicity or family (Cassell, Mitchell, and Edwards, pp. 59 103). Thus, in his book The
Hound of Baskervilles, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle attempts to exploit the theme of crime through the
application of the modern perspective of crime investigation and prevention by enlisting the
expertise of crime detectives. From The Hound of Baskervilles, it is evident that the war against
crime can only be won when there is a combination of public cooperation and keen analysis of
evidence by the crime detection unit (Bunker, pp. 129 137).
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle begins his book with a small mystery when Dr. Watson Sherlock Holmes
speculate on the owner of a walking stick that had been left in their office by an unidentified visitor.
Holmes predicts the appearance of James Mortimer, the owner of the cane, wowing Watson with his
supreme observation power (Arthur, pp. 10 250). The plot then shifts to Mortimer entering the
office and unveiling the 18th century manuscript and recounting the myth of the lecherous Hugo

Berry Gordy Research Paper
Previously working in the automotive industry, Berry Gordy explored the idea of creating a music
record company that would incorporate the automobile assembly line process that would later open
the doors of opportunity for african americans everywhere even to these contemporary times. This
company was called MotownRecords; obtaining this goal proved to have some obstacles due to the
encounter of racial tensions that affected every man, woman, and child. Fortunately, a determined
will, aquired from his boxing days, pushed Gordy to continue striving to exchange his love music
with anyone that would listen.
A Foundation was Built Born in Detroit on November 28, 1929 during the incline of the great
depression, Berry Gordy was the 7th of eight children. His father, ... Show more content on

I wanted the same concept for my company, only with artist and songs, and records. I wanted a
place where a kid off the street could walk in one door an unknown and come out another a

male singing group The Temptations. The lead of this group was the Otis Williams, and he
recorded experiences at Motown Records. First the Temptations had to audition at Motown and
impress Berry Gordy. Either Gordy loved the artist or he didn t and he has been respected for his
good ear for talent. Once signed the Temptations had to go through rigorous training. They had:
vocal coaching with Maurice King, musical sessions with the house band The Funk Brothers , and
dance lessons with Cholly Atkins. Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson would write the Temptations
songs, but Singer Marvin Gaye, famous recording artist with Motown, succession of successes was

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Radiation and chemotherapy may only partially penetrate a tumor; remaining malignant tissue will allow the cancer to reoccur within the patient. Incomplete tumor removal is a risk associated with surgical removal of cancerous tissue.3 Additionally, studies have shown that radiation promotes cancerous cell growth. Radiation promotes a cellular process known as autophagy, which supports metabolic functions while a cell is living with some sort of environmental stress. Typically, the cell will degrade longstanding organelles and proteins to recycle the molecular units of macromolecules. This becomes an alternate source of nutrients during cell survival. Within a premalignant cell, autophagy will prevent a cell from replicating if it is cancerous. Once the cell has become malignant, it is living under environmentally stress induced by hypoxia and nutrient depletion. Malignant cells are dependent of autophagy for survival, and radiation promotes autophagy; this, radiation promotes cancer.4 Current cancer treatments have high risks of harsh side effects and a high probability of reoccurring cancer. There is an urgent need for new anticancer therapies; compounds derived from the natural products of bacteria and fungi have been investigated as a possible solution. The natural product industry gained popularity around1970 1980 and the primary focus is to determine the structure of small molecule produced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Building Their Own Software For A Company s Success In today s business world the software that a business uses and develops to control their data and manage their business is a critical dimension for the company s success. While some companies might still believe that IT and software are tangential and purchase their software off the shelf this is becoming less and less of a viable option for companies looking to compete in larger markets. Some companies purchase their software off the shelf, but most companies are seeing the need for customized software whether developed in house or custom ordered. In fact, eighty seven percent of recently surveyed companies as reported by Joe McKendrick for Service Oriented on ZDNet, said that building their own software was essential to innovation . Each year a company s software does more and more for the business, whether their software is point of sales, database tracking systems, mapping software or order managements systems, just to name a few. Every management team needs to consider their abilities to develop, modify and create the new software that powers their business moving forward. • 12. Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Jonathan Hugendubler Fugue Bach Shostakovich 10/10/2017 Comparative Fugal Analysis The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that three historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich Handel (1685 1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756 1791), all employed a closely related fugue subject in three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a comparison of these works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a reflection of the composers style within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three composers analyzed fall closely together in history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after Bach s death and three years before Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue subjects presupposes a treatment regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content among the subjects of these fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising number of similarities arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in the construction of the fugue subjects limit the number of results possible. This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2 G.F. Handel s And ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The job of a pediatrician is life changing to many. Unfortunately, it takes drive and effort that many people do not have, to become a pediatrician. A pediatrician s job is a highly skilled and interesting job because he or she has the privilege to deal with and help as many children as possible. What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most pediatricians start in the morning around 9:00 A.M. However, they have to come in a little earlier to get ready for the day (Holycross). A current pediatrician, Julie Holycross, stated that she prints out lists and growth charts, downloads labs, and also does assessments to make sure her patients meet their milestone. Where does the word Pediatrician come from? The Greek words pais and iatros mean child and doctor of healer. Pediatrics is a cognate that means healer of children (NetMed Pediatrics). In June of 1802, the first accepted pediatric hospital was the Hospital des Enfants Malades, located in Paris of the Western World. In English the hospital would be called, Hospital For Sick Children (NetMED Pediatrics). Twenty eight years later, Berlin opened a Pediatric Pavilion in 1830. Many other European counties followed soon after (NetMED Pediatrics). Pediatrics did not become a medical specialty in the United States until before the Civil War (Elberts). The English speaking world waited until 1852 for its first pediatric hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children. (NetMED Pediatrics). The next pediatrician institution in the United States was the Children s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1855 (NetMED Pediatrics). In the year of 1880, a pediatric section was finally organized by the American Medical Association. Because of that, it made the medical profession understand that children are not just small adults (Elberts). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These paired strands attach in a specific manner, for example, Adenine (A) attaches itself to Thymine (T) and Cytosine(C) to Guanine (G). The reason morals may overrule a person s actions because these rules are justified. Without justification, there is no reason at all for people to obey the rules, for in their eyes, the rules would be arbitrary, and thus would lack any sort of authority over people. Many people ask why morals should be able to prevail over people s desires. This is a valid question, one that must be answered if morals are to be defended. Morals must not only be reasonable for people to follow, but they must also have good reasons for people to follow them, otherwise people would not bother adhering to them. These reasons should motivate people to follow these rules. They must appeal to their perceived interests, but if these rules are to apply to all people, they cannot serve the interests of just a few people. Moral rules are not for imposing your own values and tastes on other people! As Narveson puts it, [w]hat matters for morals is that its rules are individually reasonable for people to accept and to follow, so long as others do too (MM, 16). • 21. Analyzing The Common Criticisms Of The Concentric Zone Model Concentric Zone Model This paper will consider the concentric zone model and how it applies to the living conditions of the author and my parents. First, I will define the concentric zone model, then I will discuss how well it fits with the residence I live in now, where I was raised, and where my parents were raised. Finally, I will examine the common criticisms of the concentric zone model. The concentric zone model was created by Ernest Burgess, a Canadian urban sociologist, in 1925. Burgess s model states that a city is divided into a series of circular zones with the center zone, zone A, being the center of business and culture. The downtown core is where the urban transport system converges, and where the high rise office towers are concentrated. In zone B adjacent to the central business district lies the industrial zone, where factories take advantage of th4 labor force nearby. A labor workforce living within zone B in run down housing for the poorest residents. Zone C is the housing area for the working class and immigrants able to move out of zone B and its abject poverty. As the zones emanate from the core and the commute into the center increases, so also does the housing cost and standard of living. Zone D contains the homes of the higher classes, located in the suburbs and beyond, usually located near railway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the fairy tale, women are characterized by appearance rather than personality by both men and women. The little mermaid mentions But if you take my voice, what shall I have left? (Anderson 226). In this quote, the little mermaid believes that she cannot just be herself to win the prince s heart. The prince also looks at women the same way because of how he talks to the little mermaid. He asks her, You ve no fear of the sea, have you, my dumb child? (Anderson 229). He treats her as if she is still a small child just because she cannot speak. Still, you shall have your way, and it ll bring you into misfortune, my lovely Princess (Anderson 226). The sea witch had already warned the little mermaid even before she made the potion that it would not go as she planned. The little mermaid, being young and foolish about love, did what she believed was right. The tone here spoken by the sea witch gives caution towards the mermaid. Anderson uses the witch as a way to portray to the reader how it is easy to make mistakes in the matter of love. This example is given when the witch informs her that, ... and if you don t win the Prince s love, so that he forgets father and mother for you and always has you in his thoughts and lets the priest join your hands together to be man and wife, they you won t get an immortal soul (Anderson 226). The author uses a reproving tone to demonstrate to the reader how the little mermaid is foolish, carried away in her childish dreams. Anderson characterizes the sea witch in such a way that her dialogues warn women to be careful when it comes to sacrificing themselves for anyone. The imagery used to describe how lovely the mermaid is portrays what the prince wanted as a wife. When the prince found her on the shore and took her in as one of his own people, he took care of and adored her, but he would not marry her because she could not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

High Levels Of Competitiveness And Hyper Competitiveness Thornton, Ryckman, and Gold (2011) theorize that high levels of competitiveness or hyper competitiveness would have a significant influence over achievement striving and impatience and irritability. It was further hypothesized that personal development competitiveness would be correlated with achievement striving but not with impatience or irritability. Hyper competitiveness was defined as competitiveness with others while personal development competitiveness was correlated with competing with oneself for self improvement. Three hundred and four participants were administered the Hyper competitive Attitude Scale, the Personal Development Competitive Attitude Scale, and the Type A Behavior Pattern Inventory. The results of the study indicated that Type A individuals who were hyper competitive were more likely to demonstrate the irritable and impatient aspects of Type A personality. Only three categories are discussed, as switching and shot selection both fall under the director and there were no replays used within the first half of this particular production. The hero camera was also used particularly well right before the under twelve media timeout, in getting a close up shot of the player that committed the foul. The baseline camera selection really stood out the most during the break away dunks and the inbounds plays on the baseline. One shot that stood out was the opening lineups were the director switched from the wide shot to the hero shot, so that the audience could visually tell who the starters were for each team. There was a very well done transitional switch from the director at the 17:50 mark, the Brevard player grabs the rebound and goes coast to coast with the basketball. The director did a great job with choosing the student section baseline camera and then switching back to the primary camera to finish off the play. Another great use of switching came during the under sixteen timeout, the director made sure to transition from shot to shot, in order for the audience to get the full grasp of what was going on within the building. Another great shot came from the 14:25 mark in the game when the audience gets the close up of the official handing the ball to the player for an inbounds play on the far side of the court. The two groups coming together could have very different styles of communicating to not only staff but customers as well. One organization may use electronic communicationmeans as the main way they communicate within the organization. Maybe most of the communication is done via email instead of direct conversation. Where another company may prefer having direct communication face to face or via the telephone. As you can see, this could create a significant challenge for both organizations because as they merge they will become frustrated or could even misinterpret an email whereas the staff that is meeting face to face may feel neglected or ignored because they are not having direct interactions. Identifying the different types of communications and establishing a standard format that meets the needs of the employees without comprising the effectiveness of the message must be one of the first steps when integrating multiple cultures. Most authors have demonstrated this theory by writing from their own personal memories. From Emily Dickinson to Stephen King, countless authors have either written from their own background or put him/herself into a story. Some have even re written a terrible memory into the way they wanted that moment to turn out. John Updikeand T.C. Boyle brought this theory to life in their works A P and Greasy Lake . By reading these stories, one can feel a personal connection to them because they feel so profoundly relatable. Therefore, in A P and Greasy Lake , one can grasp the actuality of the stories by putting themselves in the author s shoes and remembering their youth. A P is an excellent use of biographical criticism when connecting to an author s past. Critical appraisal of literature Although literature is abundant on the assessment of vital signs or paediatric early warning Scores (PEWS) in children most recent studies look at their effectiveness in relation to infection (Bachur et al 2001, Brent et al 2011, Coghill and Simkiss 2011, Craig et al 2010, Opiyou and English 2011, Thompson et al 2008, Thompson et al 2009 and van den Bruel 2005) these studies also tend to focus on either those infants under three months or children between three months and sixteen years. Also there are many studies that relate their effectiveness in detecting Paediatric Intensive Care admission for already hospitalised children (Edgell et al 2008, Akre et al 2010, Edwards et al 2008 and Duncan et al 2006) Twelve articles were considered of which the majority were quantitative, but one was a small group qualitative study using semi structured interviews by van den Bruel et al (2005). A study by Thompson et al (2008) did use a questionnaire to elicit the data and information that was needed using Fishers exact test to determine statistical significance between variable within the categories used. • 40. Narrative Essay On Riding The Train Since I ride the MRT 3 and LRT 2 lines to get to school and back home every day, I m no stranger to commuting by train. Trying not to get mauled by the rush hour crowd or sitting sleepily on a bench, wishing I didn t have to get up so early, is routine I don t give much thought to, other than as complaint fodder. As long as I m concerned, I just have to get somewhere and it s not necessarily a peaceful ride. Because I never rode the LRT 1, I assumed it would be the same as my usual commute. However, for once, I decided to pay attention to the little details. I rode the LRT 1 train on a rainy day. Maybe that was partially why the station was so dark when I entered. Barely any sunlight lit up the area, and there were little to no working light bulbs either. Cool winds blew past me, but as soon as people started crowding up in line it got hotter. When the groaning train arrived it looked like a scene from an old movie complete with a rickety train and black and white visuals due to the darkness. The stations and train cars were more ... There were the sounds of honking, engines running, and people shouting. A warm breeze immediately passed, and I missed the little comfort of the train s air conditioning. Everything was brighter as well, because there was no longer a roof and tinted windows to separate me from the sun that had emerged. I had finally arrived at my destination but I didn t count how many minutes had passed. I wasn t concerned with rushing anywhere. Despite the little inconveniences, riding a train with no destination in mind was actually quite peaceful. With the steady motions, the buzzing white noise, and not having to worry about getting somewhere, it reminded me to relax and let everything go by, instead of constantly worrying about the ... It was such a fine day and then suddenly a cloud crossed the sky, covered the sun, and did not move again seemed to foreshadow that on that day, Douglas and John s friendship is about to undergo a huge change. It s just the same as the usual basic level English that we speak, read, and write on a daily basis. Though the author s choice of words is vividly imaginative, with each description comes with another imagery of what s going on in the story. Not only does the setting get the description, but the characters, the creatures, and all the life form around the main protagonists are also creatively described. The first words that stand out to me were promise , molten green gold , hate , and tries . The reasons why these words relate toward each other and to the story is that each word holds a very heavy meaning. Promise is an important word that every friendship relies on, along with the honesty and trust to keep the promise . Based on a quote, The eyes are the windows of the soul gives the word molten green gold a much deeper meaning when reading it with the text it came from. And there were the eyes, not blind like statues eyes, but filled with molten green gold. (Dandelion Wine, Chapter 21) In this text, the two boys, John and Douglas, are in the middle of playing Red Light, Green Light and Statues . As mentioned, John s eyes seemed to be more focused elsewhere instead of the game, most likely foreshadowing John leaving Douglas behind after he moved. • 46. The Hound Of Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay Matthew Le Mr. Gorden Advanced Composition 11/14/2016 Crime is as old as humanity itself, and the first crime committed by man according to Christianity is that of Cain killing Abel. Throughout the recorded history, the human past is significantly littered with criminal activities including mass murder, wars, and genocides. Moreover, beginning the 18th century, historians have pointed at new forms of crimes that target specific groups of people like a particular ethnicity or family (Cassell, Mitchell, and Edwards, pp. 59 103). Thus, in his book The Hound of Baskervilles, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle attempts to exploit the theme of crime through the application of the modern perspective of crime investigation and prevention by enlisting the expertise of crime detectives. From The Hound of Baskervilles, it is evident that the war against crime can only be won when there is a combination of public cooperation and keen analysis of evidence by the crime detection unit (Bunker, pp. 129 137). Sir Arthur Conan Doyle begins his book with a small mystery when Dr. Watson Sherlock Holmes speculate on the owner of a walking stick that had been left in their office by an unidentified visitor. Holmes predicts the appearance of James Mortimer, the owner of the cane, wowing Watson with his supreme observation power (Arthur, pp. 10 250). The plot then shifts to Mortimer entering the office and unveiling the 18th century manuscript and recounting the myth of the lecherous Hugo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The lead of this group was the Otis Williams, and he recorded experiences at Motown Records. First the Temptations had to audition at Motown and impress Berry Gordy. Either Gordy loved the artist or he didn t and he has been respected for his good ear for talent. Once signed the Temptations had to go through rigorous training. They had: vocal coaching with Maurice King, musical sessions with the house band The Funk Brothers , and dance lessons with Cholly Atkins.
