The Incredibles Film Analysis
Have you ever wondered what your family would be like with superhuman powers? The ability to go
beyond the standards of most is an amazing trait. Although, knowing your genetics are surging with an
insane, yet controllable, set of predetermined skills is outstanding. Brad Bird brings this complex
thought closer to reality in a civil animated, family, action, comedy title. The Incredibles is about a
seemingly simple modern day family. This family is one of few to have incredible superpowers. The
dad known as Mr. Incredible has always been a crime fighter. During his early years he is approached
by a small boy, his number one fan, who asks to be his side kick. Mr. Incredible insists that the kid
goes home instead of helping him. The movie focuses

Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance
that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father
fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner.
As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a
carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my
cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena
Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new
activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my
grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about
relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a
fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a
couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed
myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t
dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go
fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do

Appliance Maker the Challenge
Case 1: Appliance maker
The challenge
Senior executives at a large, low cost manufacturer of appliances and white goods were concerned
about the sluggish performance of the company s household fan business. It had long been among the
top leading players in the company s home country an emerging market but was now losing domestic
share in two important, and fiercely competitive, product categories.
The company s leaders suspected that a stagnant product portfolio was partly to blame; they had been
focusing a considerable amount of attention on operations and had neglected to revisit fan designs for
a couple of years. Meanwhile, an innovative upstart, also from an emerging market, had begun
competing with the manufacturer, both at home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet the teardown showed that as compared with competitors, the company was overbuilding its
products significantly and that identical or even better product performance was possible at a lower
cost if the team was willing to rethink its design approaches.
Some of the resulting design changes were quite straightforward and even, in retrospect, obvious. Yet
the team acknowledged that the new ideas didn t click until the teardown, when the evidence was
spread out on the table for discussion. By modifying the cover of one type of household fan, for
example, the team made it unnecessary to include an internal bracket assembly that had supported the
original cover a savings of 7 percent per unit. This change, like most cost saving opportunities the
team identified, was invisible to customers and didn t matter to them (for an example of one model,
see diagram).
Many of the individual cost saving opportunities the team identified were small. But the collective
impact was huge helping the company to reduce the total cost of manufacturing its fans by more than
10 percent, against a cost base that was already quite competitive. Meanwhile, consumers received the
new designs well, and that contributed to a 50 percent jump in operating profit in the first year of their
introduction and helped elevate the company to the number two spot in the market (up from number
three) over that time span.

Mestiza Consciousness Analysis
The idea of mestiza consciousness is an acknowledgement of both the genetic and cultural mixing that
come from falling between the cracks of two cultures. Gloria Anzaldua uses the idea of mestiza
consciousness to describe the constant shifting between two or more cultures that Chicana women
experience. She describes the issues that arise within various communities due to an us vs. them
mentality, and argues that mestiza consciousness can also act as a tool to heal these wounds, and to
reshape one s identity by merging various identities. Mestiza consciousness embraces Chicana s
Native American roots by using Aztec symbols like the Coatlicue, the indigenous mother, to replace
colonial symbols, while also acknowledging the male dominated ... Show more content on

In attempting to reach a higher position in the social hierarchy, nepatleras can become complicit in
each others oppression. In order to reach one s goal, even someone who sees themselves as oppressed
has the potential to oppress others that they see as others. This definition of other is constantly
changing. For instance, two Latinas may think of themselves as us when they re considering race, but
become otras if one of them is queer. Unlike the old mestiza, which was based on a hierarchy
determined by racial purity, Anzaldua suggests that mestiza consciousness can lead to the creation of a
New Mestiza, which instead aims to dismantle this hierarchy. The impulse to hurt another individual
comes from one s shadow self, which draws boundaries around race, nationality, gender, and other
categories. According to Anzaldua, these fences can offer protection to a group by isolating them from
other possibly conflicting groups, but this isolation also takes away the opportunity to look into the
lives of these other groups, and gain conocimiento, or knowledge, and empathize with their struggles.
Anzaldua states that often, this perceived otherness that we build fences around can be deceptive, and
by separating ourselves, we make ourselves weaker by having fewer connections within our
ecosystem. In order to become nosotras, which in Anzaldua s mind

The Theory Of Psychology And Personality Development
Personality Report
There are many theorists that have made psychology incredible, and have paved the way for what we
believe psychology to consist of today. Some important theorists that I believe have made a huge
contribution are Sigmund Freud, Karen Horney, and Dollard and Miller. These theorists have all had
their own view on personality development, and I believe that these ideas have shaped the way in
which we view psychology today. The many interpretations of conflict, psychotherapy, and cultural
and biological aspects of personality have shaped their views and differences as well.
Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, developed some of the first theories of modern
psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche. According to Freud,
most of what drives individuals is buried in the unconscious mind. There are three main forces that
drive humans, which include the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the summation of basic
personal needs and desires. It is completely self centered, and has no care for sensibility or reality. It
strives for what it wants, when it wants it with no other considerations. The second part of the
personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality. It is the ego s job to, in a sense, counteract
the selfishness and impractically if the id. The third part, the super ego, is morals and acquired beliefs
of right and wrong. According to Freud, in order to have a healthy personality, one s

The War Measures Act
The extent rights and freedoms should be sacrificed in favor of security is to a extent where it is
justifiable, individuals affected by it and not found guilty should also receive an apology or
compensation for their violation of rights and freedoms. The War Measures Act is a federal law
adopted by parliament in 1914, after the outbreak of the First World War. It gave broad powers to the
Canadian government to maintain security and order during war. This allowed the government to
remove all rights and freedoms from an individual. This could be the case with the use of the War
Measures Act in World War 1. During this time, the immigrants in Canada, who lived in one of the
Central Powers were considered enemy aliens and forced to register

Job Automation Advantages
One of the biggest controversies with the advancement of artificial intelligence is the debate on job
automation. Many people believe that artificial intelligence will advance to become better than
humans and replace humans in most jobs. The opposite belief is that AI will be used to improve the
standard of living and will be a tool to support humans, not replace them. Job automation has many
benefits such as performing more dangerous jobs and complete tasks that humans do not desire to do.
Even though job automation has benefits, there are many people who believe robots will take over the
job market and the unemployment rate will skyrocket. There are multiple supporting factors for each
side of the job automation debate, but the argument will never be settled until AI is further advanced
and utilized. The main key points of the side that support the advancement of job automation is that AI
will improve the standard of living, lower the prices of products, and encourage people to get higher
education. As job automation progresses, so does the standard of living. The largest sector of the job
industry that will be affected by job automation is the service sector, manufacturing, and many other
jobs that do not require higher education. Since robots will replace these lower paying jobs that do not
require much skill, the quality of life will increase. One negative effect is that there are numerous
people that hold these positions in the lower paying industry that will lose

They Say By Michael Pollan
In the book They say. I say , Michael Pollan and Mary Maxfield have different formulas for eating.
Are the ideas that society has today differ or not? Michael Pollan believes that one should Eat food.
Not much. Mostly plants (426). What he explains in his idea is that one should eat real food and not
the processed. He also believes that the food industry is the one to blame for confusing people in what
they are eating because all of the food is being processed and it is not real. By this he explains how
America should quit obsessing over this French paradox and start obsessing over the French fry (442).
In contrast, Mary Maxfield argues that one should Trust yourself. Trust your body. Meet your needs.
Maxfield built up the BMI, a tool to measure one s body fat. Many people look into what is right and
wrong to eat. Mary Maxfield explains that yes, we can eat healthy, but we can also eat whatever we d
like and still survive. Because many people have different formulas and rules to follow when it comes
to eating, I believe that one has to set a goal for themselves. Be happy with achieving the goals one
sets and portion out the food. Setting up my own rules, I realized that Maxfield ideas had a little
influence my own. Setting up a goal is a step toward achievement, especially when it comes to eating.
It marks where one starts and where that person wants to be at the end. For example, I weighed 135 a

Life Of Pi And Slumdog Millionaire Comparison
Life, as they say, is a journey, and that s never so clear as when watching a life story unfold in the
hands of a masterful film director. In Life of Pi, the voyage is both literal and symbolic, as the title
character is forced to traverse the high seas under Grimms fairy tale like circumstances that must be
seen to be well, if not believed, then at least experienced at a deep level. At the same time, the young,
Indian lead character, a devoted spiritual seeker, undergoes an intense inner journey as well. Slumdog
Millionaire, the multi Academy Award winning 2008 film, similarly explores a young, Indian s life
journey as he navigates the Dickensian streets of Mumbai, constantly relying on his wiles to survive,
while also seeking love and, ultimately, fabulous wealth and the respect he deserves. In both films, the
main character s stories are told in flashback to authorities who don t initially believe them. This
device is used as a way to heighten the other worldly nature of both plots. In Slumdog, every
flashback explains how the longtime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along the way, Jamal bonds with a homeless girl named Latika (played as a young woman by Freida
Pinto in her career making debut), and their friendship blossoms into love, even as she moves in and

fairy tale infused with gritty realism (with a dash of rollicking Bollywood style). Jamal recounts the
traumas of his childhood, which include debilitating poverty, the witnessing of his mother s murder by
an angry mob, his own torture and Latika s forced prostitution. Yet there is also humor in this dark
tale, as when he jumps into a latrine pit in an effort to catch a glimpse of a beloved movie star, or he
plays a trick on Salim that involves red hot chili peppers and a sensitive body

Mistakes Are Made When Buying A Home Essay
3 Mistakes That Can Be Made When Buying A Home For The First Time When buying your very first
home, the process may feel very overwhelming to you. Many parts of the home buying process are
unique, and it s difficult to be ready for what to expect when it comes to dealing with things like your
mortgage. Here are 3 potentially mistakes you may make when getting a home, with ways to prevent
them from happening. Using Your Full Loan Offer From The Bank The first step of getting a mortgage
is to get pre approved with a local mortgage lender. They will look over your finances, and then
determine how much money they are willing to loan you to buy a home. This is usually based off of
savings, income, and current debt that you owe. A mistake often made is using your pre approval
amount to determine what kind of home you should get. The pre approval amount is is not meant to be
a recommendation, but to let you know how big of a loan you can expect to get from the mortgage
lender. When a lender determines that dollar amount, they are not taking into ... Show more content on

Making Down Payment You Cannot Afford A good down payment is considered to be 20% of the
price of the home. The reason is because that is when you start seeing a lot of benefits when it comes
to your mortgage. You will not have to pay private mortgage insurance, and you can even get a lower
rate on your loan. That said, you should only make a large down payment if you can afford it. If you
end up using all of your savings just to reach 20%, you will leave yourself without any sort of
emergency fund to pay for all those unexpected costs that come with having a home. You may not get
the best deal on your loan by giving a smaller down payment, but you may end up paying more later if
you need to borrow money for an emergency. Not Getting Your Home

Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale
To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good
qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in Margaret
Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in such a way that
they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their functions, forced to
have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid s Tale, Atwood utilizes
motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the Republic of Gilead outfits women
based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The process starts by colour coding women
into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when Offred makes her way to town, narrating the
scene and drawing attention to the other women by saying, There are other women with baskets, some
in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas (Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded
to be easily identifiable and known under their respective colours, completely erasing their identities.
Furthermore, the colours they wear identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first
introduces Econowives she notes that ...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... Econowives, they
re called. These women are not divided into functions. They have to do everything... (Atwood 27).
The Econowives are the wives or the poorer men, wearing the medley of all three colours to

Violins, flutes, ruffs, and farthingales. Where are they all from you ask, the Elizabethan Era. Music
has always been important to society, but during the Elizabethan Era it played an extreme role. This
paper will give readers a deeper understanding of the music during the Elizabethan Era and what it
was to be a musician in that time. Welcome to the Elizabethan Era. Well everyone loves music. Music
deals with almost everything. Instrumental music was very popular during the Elizabethan Era. There
were many instruments. The most popular solo instruments of the time were the virginal and the lute.
The virginal was a popular variant of the harpsichord among the English and one of Elizabeth s
favorite instruments to play. The introduction of new musical instruments such as the early violin
called the viol, the early oboe called the hautboy and the keyboard musical instruments called the
spinet, harpsichord and the virginals provided the sounds which produced a much more refined sound
than had been produced during the Medieval era. They really used the same instruments we do now.
The only difference is it just looks different than it did back then. The instruments we use look modern

Co sleeping or crib sleepers that is the question for new parents. There are people that feel that co

(Onderko, 2016) The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended against bed sharing in

There are not a one size fits all approach to where the baby should sleep, and how long they child

Along with Deming , Joseph Juran was another well known TQM philosopher and has been called the

higher quality means a greater number of features that meet the customers need, and higher quality

My Experience As An Educator
Reflecting over this semester I have come to the realization the more time I have had teaching has
made me as an educator, more prepared for each and everyday. When I think back to last year and
compare how prepared and confident I felt, there is no comparison where I stand today. Within this
semester, I have grown immensely as an educator from taking on new roles from having a K state
education student observe with me for 40 hours, to presenting at the state KSDE conference, and to
many more adventures in which I have yet to experience. Even though it has only been a semester, I
feel this year is flying by and I am constantly reflecting on last year s experiences and changing this
years experience for the better.
When comparing my experiences from last year as a new educator I have realized this year I am more
prepared and ready to get started each and every day. For example, all of my lessons were well
thought out and prepared for each and every class period. When creating and deciding what lessons I
wanted to teach to my students I planed out my first semester of classes during the summer, which has
made me prepared for this this school year. I also feel my classroom management skills have

make a difference. In the beginning of the 1960 s, students held sit in s at segregated lunch counters
throughout the south. February 1st 1960, was the day of the first sit in at a segregated lunch counter.
Four seventeen year old freshman at North Carolina A T University in Greensboro Franklin Mccain,
Ezell Blair Jr., Joseph Mcneil, and David Richmond peacefully and politely took seats at the lunch
counter and asked for coffee. By the end of the month similar protest were beginning in thirty one
cities and seven southern states ( The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1955, Reverend George Lee, vice president of the Regional Council of Negro Leadership and

With many assassinations of African American liberation leaders and organizers along with the police
frame ups and imprisonment of African American protestors had a devastating impact on the struggle
against racism and national oppression. In addition to these murders, violence was portrayed in mass
arrest, jail beatings, lynching s, and church bombings (Austin, On Violence and Non violence ).
African American s believed it was time to take matters into their own hands. The non violence
approach was not improving anything for them. A lot of the protest resulted in deaths for African
Americans. African Americans along with their supporters felt it was necessary to use force in order to
advance in their struggle for freedom, equality, and justice. The Black Panther Party of Self defense

Smoke Signals Themes
Smoke Signals is an independent film directed by, Chris Eyre. The film, Smoke Signals , is based on a
short story named, This Is What It Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona , by Sherman Alexie. At the end of
the film, Smoke Signals , the character Thomas says some words in phrases, which puts us all to think.
He invokes problems that happen in life to almost every single human being in the world. Sometimes
we do not know how to handle these problems and we just learn to live with them. He talks about
abuse, lack of communication, rage, divorces, and family problems. The words that Thomas says at
the end of the film, and the short story have very similar themes, specific about father and son issues,
we will see which theme in special they both share. Thomas is trying to make a point with the last
words he takes at the end of the film. He is making us see that we can really forgive. At the end of the
film, we see how Victor finally forgives his father and starts making progress with Thomas. He does
not feel the anger he felt because of his dad, he sees that his father loved him, and that he only went
away to stop hurting his family. He sees that he always cared about them and that the love for his
family never ended. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the death of Thomas father and mother, the time Thomas and Victor end in the marshal s office,
and the woman that lived next to his father s trailer. They link all of these events very well with the
things that really happened in the short story. It was basically like watching what we read on real life. I
believe that making the trip that Victor did to get his father s ashes was a family thing. Thomas
accompanies Victor after everything they went through in the past, and we see how Thomas has

Heavy Metal Music In The 1980 s
Some sort of better creative title to be added latter
The late 1960 s brought forth the creation of one of the most interesting types of music that shaped
some people in different ways. That music was called heavy metal. Heavy metal created several new
bands influenced how some people probably dressed, and even made some artist extremely famous.
Now heavy metal is a term used since the early 1970 s to designate a subgenre of hard rock music
(Walser 1). Even though heavy metal came about in the late 1960 s it was not given the name until the
1970 s. In the scene of how heavy metal came in to fruition, it came about when British hard rock
bands and the American guitarist Jimi Hendrix developed a more distorted guitar sound and heavier

Because Ozzy Osbourne became one the most popular rock musicians of the 1980 s, this fame most
likely helped the spread to the heavy metal genre. Before Ozzy went out on his own, he was part of

caught the attention of American record executives and catapulted Osbourne and his bandmates to
world class status ( Ozzy Osbourne 1). Ozzy got his start in heavy metal as part of a band; this band
helped him in his career and on his road to fame. In 1979 Osbourne struck out on his own. As a solo
performer, Osbourne helped to hasten the development of the heavy metal genre ( Ozzy Osbourne 1).
By going out on his own Ozzy helped out the heavy metal music genre develop even more. During the

Summary Of Mark Levin s The Liberty Amendments

publicized due to the more recent publication of Mark Levin s book, The Liberty Amendments:
Restoring the American Public. Levin, a talk show host, makes his term limit case in his book about

The World Bank And Imf
As a result of the inadequacies of the World Bank and IMF, Uganda today appears to be no better off
today then as they were in the year(s) prior to acquiring the assistance in debt relief in 1998.
According to Ana Eiras; Despite such a monstrous display of resources, according to the index of
economic freedom, the Bank s money has done nothing to improve the economic freedom in recipient
countries . Erias goes on to make it clear that many of the country s who have received assistance have
seen no change or economic improvement and are just as poor as they were many years ago. There is a
distinct ineffectiveness on the part of the World Bank and IMF to effectively utilize their plethora of
economic intelligence, strategic relationships, and technical and industrial knowledge to help a
country to an improved economic state. Uganda received as much as $650 million in US dollars for
the purposes of debt relief back in 1998. The relief was to provide assistance in several ways to
include an educational program, the purchase and cancellation by HIPC Trust Fund of outstanding
IDA credits the payment of debt service by HIPC Trust Fund , savings on IDA charges associated with
these instruments , (Press Release 1998). In short the World Bank was to cover as much as half of
Uganda s annual debt. They were awarded this because they had met the requirements , and Uganda

Bloody Chamber Gothic
Consider how the Gothic elements present in The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter and the Selected
Poems of John Keats affect the presentation of women within the texts. In the course of your response
make reference to how Dracula by Mary Shelley has illuminated your understanding. Gothic literature
has the tendency to portray women as one of two archetypes; the predator or the victim . The first is
often shown to be the temptress of the story, ethereal and deadly; she helps portray the pain/pleasure
paradox that has come to be synonymous with Gothic literature. The victim is fragile and vulnerable,
acting as the damsel of the story and is often a reward for male success. However, within the chosen
texts the arrangement of the female characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies
An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies
Introduction
The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the theory
that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental processes such
as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a reliable and objective
method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be to understand and
control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a science using controlled
variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific approach made for a dependable
method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach argued that this method created
artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid). Behaviourists also believe we are all born a
blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from learning from a person s own environmental
experiences either through classical conditioning, associating an external stimulus and a behavioural
response, or through operant conditioning, association via consequences where behaviour is shaped
through reward or punishment (Malim 1998). However this belief doesn t take into account a person s
spontaneity, creativity or their ability to solve problems without the time consuming trial and error
process that behaviourists believe is necessary (ibid). Furthermore it fails to take into

Dell vs Hp
1. Introduction Both Dell and HP are two strong players in PC industry which refers to an industry
where companies produces PCs (desktops and notebooks), handheld devices (smart phones and
tablets), and workstations. However, with growing global expansion, Dell and HP s performance
differs. Dell, once the world s largest PC maker in 2001, has continually lost its market share to HP
and Acer since 2007 (Guglielmo 2009). The cause is rooted in two differences of these companies:
company diversifications and core competences. Therefore, how firms can continually survive in the
PC business is more of an issue for Dell than for HP. Nevertheless, survival is not enough. Mainly
because of the fast declining average selling prices (ASP) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

industries, PC industry is still their most important source of revenue. For years, these two giants are

seller in PC market since 2007 (FIGURE 1). When measured by revenue, HP also wins over Dell for
almost five years (FIGURE 2). Also, Acer grew rapidly in market share partly because of its merger
with Gateway in 2007 (Einhorn 2007), and almost matched Dell in 2009. FIGURE 1 Global PC

The Success Of Primerica Financial Service
Primerica
We can learn a lot by analyzing, evaluating, discussing, and exploring the methods of high level
companies and their strategy to reach success. Primerica Financial Service is a company that provides
life insurance and investments that help and serve the middle income costumer with the best life
insurance. They called it term life insurance. Primerica has a different approach compared to other
companies; they want to offer the best life insurance to the costumer. Primerica s main goal is to help
other people. It is important to evaluate our own companies without bias and determinate ourselves to
reach excellence.
As a costumer, agent, and assistance manager, I can evaluate Primerica from many different
perspectives. Besides I have also worked in the company called Transamerica, rivalry of Primerica but
they are both very similar in structure.
One of the key points that we have to understand is that the majority of clients of Primerica are middle
income costumers. This means the majority of people don t have a financial knowledge and they don t
have a culture of life insurance habits. Another key point is that agents in Primerica have to have a
license to be able to work as financial advisors, but the majority of them never went to the university
to get some level of financial knowledge.
Primerica is an organization with a MLM (multilevel marketing) strategy. This keeps their employees
motivated and gives them the opportunity to manage their own success. Instead

Alliteration In Wilfred Owen s Disabled
Wilfred Owen, poet of Disabled , recounts the desolating stories of a disabled soldier who has been
mutilated by the unforgiving First World War, when he was badly shaken from shell shock during the
war. He presents the suffering of a soldier as an everlasting void of torment that threatens to tear his
life into fragmented pieces of reminiscent memories.
The injuries and pain originated from the war have lingered even when it ends, harassing the soldier as
he tries to blend in once more with the rest of the community. Seen to have donned a ghastly suit of
grey , the sibilance characterises the soldier as a solemn representation of the war s brutality. Ghastly
further spotlights the soldier s disgust of the suit he is trapped in, even though ... Show more content

In contrast to the ex soldier s current situation, Owen depicts his past in enticing detail, especially
exhibited when the girls glanced lovelier as the air grew dim . His use of alliteration serves to
emphasise the girls glamour and beauty, whilst the connotations to brightness and liveliness from
lovelier offers a contrast to the greyness and absence of colour in the present. Here, the line echoes
with the previous phrases on the soldier s ghastly suit , implying that his colour, symbolism of youth,
was lost due to the war. The succeeding line, in the old times, he threw away his knees , magnifies his
regret of ever joining the army, describing this impulsive action the same as a metaphor, throwing
away his knees . Since threw connotes to a sense of carelessness and indifference, it highlights the
soldier s immaturity in losing such an important part of his life in a blink of an eye, implying that
teenagers could easily be swayed to do things they might not have wanted to do. Owen demonstrates
how time does not allow for much mistakes, as one incorrect decision might account for all the
suffering in the future, accentuating time s relentless and persistent

Carrying Capacity The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but
because of the people who don t do anything about it (Albert Einstein). In our world today people are
ignorant. Humans use their imagination too much and their brain too little. Also, people don t do
anything to solve their problems because we think nothing could go wrong, we expect others do fix
everything. That is where we re wrong. Today lots of people are saying the world won t reach a

Natural Disasters. Everything else is kind of preventable and fixable, but not Natural Disasters, they

for herself, instead she has been living in a trailer. She reiterates that not only working conditions of
the lower class are a factor to their poverty, but living conditions for the poor aren t as pleasant as they
are for the upper middle class. She follows with another restriction that rises after a coworker of hers
spends too much time at a bar. The employee turns out to be another woman who is, another trailer
home dweller and a mother of three . She provides these details because the environment that lower
class employees live in tends to drive them to getting drunk, or even into harmful habits for
themselves and the people they surround themselves with. Ehrenreich explains this specific example
because it presents how not only one employee is effected by a wrongdoing, but all of them are.
Ehrenreich next moves on to explain that one of her coworkers was desperate enough to break into

The Death Of A Car

When you step into a car you don t expect anything life threatening to happen. Safety is taken for
granted as soon as one steps into an automobile. Most people in the world don t have a single doubt
about hopping in a car to get from Point A to Point B. Being a passenger or conducting a moving
vehicle is something that has become second nature to us. It has become somewhat normal that most
people developed habits meanwhile they are driving. In today s society we see people texting, talking
and dialing on their phone, consuming meals, applying make up and even reading a book. This just
amazes me, how people are capable of focusing on the road and at the same time juggle another
activity. The truth is no matter how much we say we can multitask, we really can t. Multitasking is
unfortunately just a myth and there are studies to prove it. A Neuroscientist at MIT named Earl Miller,
states that people are not multitasking; the brain is simply just deluding itself. Although it may seem
as if we are simultaneously doing a task, we are not. The reality of the situation is that we are
switching our focus between the errands very rapidly. So let s say an individual is talking on

A Critical Analysis Of Reflection In The Poetry Analysis Unit
Throughout the poetry analysis unit, I learned lots of things about the poems. I learned how to look at,

Before this unit, I used to attach importance to only the meaning of the poems; however, right now, I
can attach importance to more than one device in a poem, and use them in my own poems.
We started this journey with writing only one stanza with three or four lines. I really liked these poems
because they were short and effective. I didn t make an effort on trying to understand these poems, but
they were really impressive for me. That was the reason why I included a short poem into my

paragraph of symbolism in my summative poetry analysis, which I think I successfully did. I included
one of the poems I wrote before to improve my usage of metaphors to my portfolio, it is called Art of

Immigration Policy And Foreign Policy
Immigration policy and foreign policy are in many ways interlinked, as they are often used to meet
goals in one another s policy areas. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens,
making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy
efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policy area, you must
understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and
evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform.
Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when
national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and terrorism
are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating Immigration laws such
as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better secure our national safety
(Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Donald
Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used to attack us (Hensch 2015).
Regardless of the truth value behind his statement, it is relevant to note that the notion itself by such
an important political figure could create a push for stricter immigration policy. The change in policy
may be surrounding the issue of immigration, but the actual goal is the foreign policy goal of
enhanced national

Cancer stem cells and cancer cell lineages: cancer stem cells are cells within the tumour that have the
capacity to initiate and sustain the tumour. 3) Local invasion: Benign tumours are usually encapsulated
except haemangioma while malignant tumours can locally invade and destroy the adjacent tissues.
Next to the development of metastases, invasiveness is the most reliable feature that differentiate
malignant from benign Tumours. Carcinoma in situ is best seen in tumour of skin, breast, cervix,
vagina, in which display the cytologic features of malignancy without invasion of the basement
membrane.
a) Biology of tumour growth: Benign and malignant neoplasms contd
4) Metastasis: metastases are tumour implants discontinuous with the primary tumour. All cancers can
metastasize except those of glial cells in CNS (Gliomas), and basal cell carcinoma of the skin but they
are locally invasive. Pathways of spread: i) Seeding of body cavities and surfaces: esp. carcinoma of
ovaries and sometimes mucus secreting appendiceal carcinoma fill the peritoneal cavity with a

common pathway for the initial dissemination of carcinomas, and sarcomas as well. The pattern of
lymph node involvement follows the routes of lymphatic drainage. A Sentinel Lymph Node is defined

  • 2. The Incredibles Film Analysis Have you ever wondered what your family would be like with superhuman powers? The ability to go beyond the standards of most is an amazing trait. Although, knowing your genetics are surging with an insane, yet controllable, set of predetermined skills is outstanding. Brad Bird brings this complex thought closer to reality in a civil animated, family, action, comedy title. The Incredibles is about a seemingly simple modern day family. This family is one of few to have incredible superpowers. The dad known as Mr. Incredible has always been a crime fighter. During his early years he is approached by a small boy, his number one fan, who asks to be his side kick. Mr. Incredible insists that the kid goes home instead of helping him. The movie focuses ... • 3. Fishing Is Fishing Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night s dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and a carne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought tedious but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, What is so cool about fishing and he responded, It s not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in? . As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don t dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do ... • 4. Appliance Maker the Challenge Case 1: Appliance maker The challenge Senior executives at a large, low cost manufacturer of appliances and white goods were concerned about the sluggish performance of the company s household fan business. It had long been among the top leading players in the company s home country an emerging market but was now losing domestic share in two important, and fiercely competitive, product categories. The company s leaders suspected that a stagnant product portfolio was partly to blame; they had been focusing a considerable amount of attention on operations and had neglected to revisit fan designs for a couple of years. Meanwhile, an innovative upstart, also from an emerging market, had begun competing with the manufacturer, both at home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet the teardown showed that as compared with competitors, the company was overbuilding its products significantly and that identical or even better product performance was possible at a lower cost if the team was willing to rethink its design approaches. Some of the resulting design changes were quite straightforward and even, in retrospect, obvious. Yet the team acknowledged that the new ideas didn t click until the teardown, when the evidence was spread out on the table for discussion. By modifying the cover of one type of household fan, for example, the team made it unnecessary to include an internal bracket assembly that had supported the original cover a savings of 7 percent per unit. This change, like most cost saving opportunities the team identified, was invisible to customers and didn t matter to them (for an example of one model, see diagram). Many of the individual cost saving opportunities the team identified were small. But the collective impact was huge helping the company to reduce the total cost of manufacturing its fans by more than 10 percent, against a cost base that was already quite competitive. Meanwhile, consumers received the new designs well, and that contributed to a 50 percent jump in operating profit in the first year of their introduction and helped elevate the company to the number two spot in the market (up from number three) over that time span. • 5. Mestiza Consciousness Analysis The idea of mestiza consciousness is an acknowledgement of both the genetic and cultural mixing that come from falling between the cracks of two cultures. Gloria Anzaldua uses the idea of mestiza consciousness to describe the constant shifting between two or more cultures that Chicana women experience. She describes the issues that arise within various communities due to an us vs. them mentality, and argues that mestiza consciousness can also act as a tool to heal these wounds, and to reshape one s identity by merging various identities. Mestiza consciousness embraces Chicana s Native American roots by using Aztec symbols like the Coatlicue, the indigenous mother, to replace colonial symbols, while also acknowledging the male dominated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In attempting to reach a higher position in the social hierarchy, nepatleras can become complicit in each others oppression. In order to reach one s goal, even someone who sees themselves as oppressed has the potential to oppress others that they see as others. This definition of other is constantly changing. For instance, two Latinas may think of themselves as us when they re considering race, but become otras if one of them is queer. Unlike the old mestiza, which was based on a hierarchy determined by racial purity, Anzaldua suggests that mestiza consciousness can lead to the creation of a New Mestiza, which instead aims to dismantle this hierarchy. The impulse to hurt another individual comes from one s shadow self, which draws boundaries around race, nationality, gender, and other categories. According to Anzaldua, these fences can offer protection to a group by isolating them from other possibly conflicting groups, but this isolation also takes away the opportunity to look into the lives of these other groups, and gain conocimiento, or knowledge, and empathize with their struggles. Anzaldua states that often, this perceived otherness that we build fences around can be deceptive, and by separating ourselves, we make ourselves weaker by having fewer connections within our ecosystem. In order to become nosotras, which in Anzaldua s mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Theory Of Psychology And Personality Development Personality Report There are many theorists that have made psychology incredible, and have paved the way for what we believe psychology to consist of today. Some important theorists that I believe have made a huge contribution are Sigmund Freud, Karen Horney, and Dollard and Miller. These theorists have all had their own view on personality development, and I believe that these ideas have shaped the way in which we view psychology today. The many interpretations of conflict, psychotherapy, and cultural and biological aspects of personality have shaped their views and differences as well. Sigmund Freud, known as the father of psychology, developed some of the first theories of modern psychology. One of his well known theories is the structural model of the psyche. According to Freud, most of what drives individuals is buried in the unconscious mind. There are three main forces that drive humans, which include the id, the ego, and the super ego. The id is the summation of basic personal needs and desires. It is completely self centered, and has no care for sensibility or reality. It strives for what it wants, when it wants it with no other considerations. The second part of the personality is the ego. The ego is the realization of reality. It is the ego s job to, in a sense, counteract the selfishness and impractically if the id. The third part, the super ego, is morals and acquired beliefs of right and wrong. According to Freud, in order to have a healthy personality, one s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The War Measures Act The extent rights and freedoms should be sacrificed in favor of security is to a extent where it is justifiable, individuals affected by it and not found guilty should also receive an apology or compensation for their violation of rights and freedoms. The War Measures Act is a federal law adopted by parliament in 1914, after the outbreak of the First World War. It gave broad powers to the Canadian government to maintain security and order during war. This allowed the government to remove all rights and freedoms from an individual. This could be the case with the use of the War Measures Act in World War 1. • 8. Job Automation Advantages One of the biggest controversies with the advancement of artificial intelligence is the debate on job automation. Many people believe that artificial intelligence will advance to become better than humans and replace humans in most jobs. The opposite belief is that AI will be used to improve the standard of living and will be a tool to support humans, not replace them. Job automation has many benefits such as performing more dangerous jobs and complete tasks that humans do not desire to do. Even though job automation has benefits, there are many people who believe robots will take over the job market and the unemployment rate will skyrocket. There are multiple supporting factors for each side of the job automation debate, but the argument will never be settled until AI is further advanced and utilized. The main key points of the side that support the advancement of job automation is that AI will improve the standard of living, lower the prices of products, and encourage people to get higher education. As job automation progresses, so does the standard of living. The largest sector of the job industry that will be affected by job automation is the service sector, manufacturing, and many other jobs that do not require higher education. Since robots will replace these lower paying jobs that do not require much skill, the quality of life will increase. One negative effect is that there are numerous people that hold these positions in the lower paying industry that will lose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. They Say By Michael Pollan In the book They say. I say , Michael Pollan and Mary Maxfield have different formulas for eating. Are the ideas that society has today differ or not? Michael Pollan believes that one should Eat food. Not much. Mostly plants (426). What he explains in his idea is that one should eat real food and not the processed. He also believes that the food industry is the one to blame for confusing people in what they are eating because all of the food is being processed and it is not real. By this he explains how America should quit obsessing over this French paradox and start obsessing over the French fry (442). In contrast, Mary Maxfield argues that one should Trust yourself. Trust your body. Meet your needs. Maxfield built up the BMI, a tool to measure one s body fat. Many people look into what is right and wrong to eat. Mary Maxfield explains that yes, we can eat healthy, but we can also eat whatever we d like and still survive. In Life of Pi, the voyage is both literal and symbolic, as the title character is forced to traverse the high seas under Grimms fairy tale like circumstances that must be seen to be well, if not believed, then at least experienced at a deep level. At the same time, the young, Indian lead character, a devoted spiritual seeker, undergoes an intense inner journey as well. Slumdog Millionaire, the multi Academy Award winning 2008 film, similarly explores a young, Indian s life journey as he navigates the Dickensian streets of Mumbai, constantly relying on his wiles to survive, while also seeking love and, ultimately, fabulous wealth and the respect he deserves. Using Your Full Loan Offer From The Bank The first step of getting a mortgage is to get pre approved with a local mortgage lender. The reason is because that is when you start seeing a lot of benefits when it comes to your mortgage. If you end up using all of your savings just to reach 20%, you will leave yourself without any sort of emergency fund to pay for all those unexpected costs that come with having a home. Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in such a way that they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their functions, forced to have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid s Tale, Atwood utilizes motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the Republic of Gilead outfits women based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The process starts by colour coding women into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when Offred makes her way to town, narrating the scene and drawing attention to the other women by saying, There are other women with baskets, some in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas (Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded to be easily identifiable and known under their respective colours, completely erasing their identities. Furthermore, the colours they wear identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first introduces Econowives she notes that ...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... • 29. Psychological Perspectives And Related Research Studies An outline and evaluation of three psychological perspectives and related research studies Introduction The behaviourist approach transformed psychology in 1913 when John Watson put forward the theory that psychology should be about the study of observable behaviour ignoring all mental processes such as thoughts and emotions (Malim 1998). He viewed introspection as not being a reliable and objective method for psychological study and believed the aim of psychology should be to understand and control behaviour (ibid). He proposed that psychology should be seen as a science using controlled variables within experimentation (McLeod 2007a). This scientific approach made for a dependable method of assessing behaviour, however, critics of this approach argued that this method created artificial situations holding little ecological validity (ibid). Behaviourists also believe we are all born a blank slate and that all behaviour is determined from learning from a person s own environmental experiences either through classical conditioning, associating an external stimulus and a behavioural response, or through operant conditioning, association via consequences where behaviour is shaped through reward or punishment (Malim 1998). • 31. The Success Of Primerica Financial Service Primerica We can learn a lot by analyzing, evaluating, discussing, and exploring the methods of high level companies and their strategy to reach success. Primerica Financial Service is a company that provides life insurance and investments that help and serve the middle income costumer with the best life insurance. They called it term life insurance. Primerica has a different approach compared to other companies; they want to offer the best life insurance to the costumer. Primerica s main goal is to help other people. It is important to evaluate our own companies without bias and determinate ourselves to reach excellence. As a costumer, agent, and assistance manager, I can evaluate Primerica from many different perspectives. Besides I have also worked in the company called Transamerica, rivalry of Primerica but they are both very similar in structure. One of the key points that we have to understand is that the majority of clients of Primerica are middle income costumers. This means the majority of people don t have a financial knowledge and they don t have a culture of life insurance habits. Another key point is that agents in Primerica have to have a license to be able to work as financial advisors, but the majority of them never went to the university to get some level of financial knowledge. Primerica is an organization with a MLM (multilevel marketing) strategy. This keeps their employees motivated and gives them the opportunity to manage their own success. Instead ... They can experience the environment they are studying and see how the organisms interact in their natural habitat. They are also able to stay underwater for longer periods of time, which gives them more time to study how organisms interact and their surroundings. However, there are limitations for what scientists can do with SCUBA. The limitations that the beginning scientists encountered included the coldness of the ocean, and the depths they were able to reach with the equipment they possessed. The constraints marine biologists today face include studying the oceans would be the depth of the dive and the pressure of the depths. 7. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Alliteration In Wilfred Owen s Disabled Wilfred Owen, poet of Disabled , recounts the desolating stories of a disabled soldier who has been mutilated by the unforgiving First World War, when he was badly shaken from shell shock during the war. He presents the suffering of a soldier as an everlasting void of torment that threatens to tear his life into fragmented pieces of reminiscent memories. The injuries and pain originated from the war have lingered even when it ends, harassing the soldier as he tries to blend in once more with the rest of the community. Seen to have donned a ghastly suit of grey , the sibilance characterises the soldier as a solemn representation of the war s brutality. Ghastly further spotlights the soldier s disgust of the suit he is trapped in, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the ex soldier s current situation, Owen depicts his past in enticing detail, especially exhibited when the girls glanced lovelier as the air grew dim . His use of alliteration serves to emphasise the girls glamour and beauty, whilst the connotations to brightness and liveliness from lovelier offers a contrast to the greyness and absence of colour in the present. Here, the line echoes with the previous phrases on the soldier s ghastly suit , implying that his colour, symbolism of youth, was lost due to the war. The succeeding line, in the old times, he threw away his knees , magnifies his regret of ever joining the army, describing this impulsive action the same as a metaphor, throwing away his knees . Since threw connotes to a sense of carelessness and indifference, it highlights the soldier s immaturity in losing such an important part of his life in a blink of an eye, implying that teenagers could easily be swayed to do things they might not have wanted to do. Owen demonstrates how time does not allow for much mistakes, as one incorrect decision might account for all the suffering in the future, accentuating time s relentless and persistent ... She reiterates that not only working conditions of the lower class are a factor to their poverty, but living conditions for the poor aren t as pleasant as they are for the upper middle class. She follows with another restriction that rises after a coworker of hers spends too much time at a bar. The employee turns out to be another woman who is, another trailer home dweller and a mother of three . She provides these details because the environment that lower class employees live in tends to drive them to getting drunk, or even into harmful habits for themselves and the people they surround themselves with. Ehrenreich explains this specific example because it presents how not only one employee is effected by a wrongdoing, but all of them are. Ehrenreich next moves on to explain that one of her coworkers was desperate enough to break into one of the storage rooms. This coworker just so happens to be her friend who lives with a number of other Czech dishwashers. According to Ehrenreich, he also, cannot sleep until one of them goes off for [their] shift, leaving a vacant bed . With these living conditions, her friend must have a hard time getting what he needs to survive. Ehrenreich uses this example to exemplify the meaning of sharing living quarters with so many other people where supplies are scarce. She was ejected from the car, and then slid down the roadway causing her face to get disfigured and her skull to get crushed. Unfortunately, Mariah died on May 21st, 2009. When you step into a car you don t expect anything life threatening to happen. Safety is taken for granted as soon as one steps into an automobile. Most people in the world don t have a single doubt about hopping in a car to get from Point A to Point B. Being a passenger or conducting a moving vehicle is something that has become second nature to us. It has become somewhat normal that most people developed habits meanwhile they are driving. In today s society we see people texting, talking and dialing on their phone, consuming meals, applying make up and even reading a book. This just amazes me, how people are capable of focusing on the road and at the same time juggle another activity. The truth is no matter how much we say we can multitask, we really can t. Multitasking is unfortunately just a myth and there are studies to prove it. A Neuroscientist at MIT named Earl Miller, states that people are not multitasking; the brain is simply just deluding itself. • 39. A Critical Analysis Of Reflection In The Poetry Analysis Unit Throughout the poetry analysis unit, I learned lots of things about the poems. I learned how to look at, analyze, and write a poem. My whole perception of poems changed, and I am really happy about it. Before this unit, I used to attach importance to only the meaning of the poems; however, right now, I can attach importance to more than one device in a poem, and use them in my own poems. We started this journey with writing only one stanza with three or four lines. I really liked these poems because they were short and effective. I didn t make an effort on trying to understand these poems, but they were really impressive for me. That was the reason why I included a short poem into my portfolio. It was hard for me at the beginning, but I got used to it now. Moreover, I wrote about a paragraph of symbolism in my summative poetry analysis, which I think I successfully did. I included one of the poems I wrote before to improve my usage of metaphors to my portfolio, it is called Art of Realization . This is a poem that tells about a person, who understands the magic of the books and sees the art behind them. I used the line I turned the thin skin of the dead tree, which symbolizes the pages of the book. I asked one of my friends to read my poem, and she said that she never thought the pages as thin skin of the dead tree . • 40. Immigration Policy And Foreign Policy Immigration policy and foreign policy are in many ways interlinked, as they are often used to meet goals in one another s policy areas. Together, they are used to enhance the safety of our citizens, making this topic particularly important. Immigration is specifically linked to our foreign policy efforts with underdeveloped countries (Keely 1978). To fully understand one policy area, you must understand aspects of the other. Thus, one should consider these relationships when analyzing and evaluating Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump s policies on immigration reform. Immigration policy can often be used as a tool for foreign policy goals. This usually occurs when national safety is threatened, and it is sparked by merely the perception that immigration and terrorism are linked. Many believe that terrorists can enter our country by manipulating Immigration laws such as refugee asylums, which leads to stricter immigration policy to better secure our national safety (Franzblau 1997, 4 11). Even now, the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, Donald Trump, makes statements like, our immigration system is being used to attack us (Hensch 2015). Regardless of the truth value behind his statement, it is relevant to note that the notion itself by such an important political figure could create a push for stricter immigration policy. The change in policy may be surrounding the issue of immigration, but the actual goal is the foreign policy goal of enhanced national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
